Indian Spice in other cities:
We ordered from this place last night and were thoroughly impressed. The flavor, the texture, the sauces! We ordered samosas, lamb vindaloo, and a vegetable biryani. The samosas and lamb vindaloo were amazing. The vegetable biryani was good but (as expected) not as great as some chicken or lamb biryanis that Ive had. I will definitely come back to try the other items on the menu! The staff was also extremely courteous. Also!! A reminder to call restaurants to order so you and the restaurants dont not need to pay the Seamless tax.
The food was really good. Came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend around 9:00-10:00 it was not busy or loud. It was a bit dark for my personal likening but oh well. Butter chicken was really good also the garlic nan is good. I definitely would come back here. Yummy
Totally underutilized dining area...makes it great for a quiet meal (they must be making ends meet via delivery). Attentive staff knows the balance: dont linger too long and always at the ready. Quick tip: the combo dinner plates are a full meal with authentic spicing and tastes at a reasonable price.
My wife and I have eaten at Indian Spice 12 or more times, alone, with family, and/or with a number of friends. We all found the food consistently delicious, fresh, and attractively presented. And we have had numerous different dishes. The owners high standards are visible in all aspects of the restaurant - food, service, ambiance and welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. And it is quiet enough to even be able to talk with everyone at your table without shouting.
Its the best Indian restaurant in South Slope. Im not sure that says a lot as ethnic restaurants (or any really) dont do well in this neighborhood. Its not the most spicy or spiceful Indian food Ive ever had but there arent a lot of options to pick from around here. Ive always enjoyed their lamb vindaloo and nan.
Really great new Indian takeout place in the neighborhood, an upgrade from the old Bombay Grill. Food is tasty and fresh, and the kitchen is liberal with the spices. Delicious naan bread and a $15 delivery/takeout special that is plenty for two. Super friendly staff and very attractive decor inside.
Food is very fresh tasting and delicious! I would give another star but i have a few lil gripes, one they give really sm sides togo for the chutneys and sauces even if you order two nans, like don’t be stingy! (Def may not b a issue dining in) And the portions are tad on the small side for the prices... but the other hand the flavors are on point and very fresh vibrant tasting. Recommend the baingan bhartha dish, (stewed eggplant and peas) it’s banging!
Well, this was a 2-star review due to food taking two hours to get here, but I pumped them up because they were really genuinely concerned and tried everything they could to make the situation right. The food was pretty good, on the spicy side (which is nice). Skip the Aloo Fried, though: for $4, you get a half-dozen seasoned potato wedges (Ore-Ida, perhaps) with some chopped chiles and a few squirts of chutney. Lame.
VEGETARIANS - BEWARE!I used to really like this place and was a regular there, but my most recent experience changed my opinion about them.I ordered aloo motor gobi via seamless and in my very last bite of food I got a piece of chicken.Im vegetarian and you can only imagine how that discovery made me feel.I called the restaurant to inform them about the situation. I was offered replacement (which I didnt want because I already ate all my food but also because how can I be sure there wouldnt be any meat in the replacement dish?)Person that spoke to me did apologize but it didnt sound very sincere and he wasnt able to answer my questions which were: how could that have happened and how can restaurant assure me its not going to happen in the future.I was told he would speak to the chef and ask and of chef says it could have happened I would get my money back. He took my name and phone number. I never got a phone call back.Next day, I emailed the restaurant. I gave them 3 days to respond. Never heard from them. This is how much they care about their customers.
The one thing that went well was the water was repeatedly filled. I had to ask for a menu and let someone know I was ready to order. Despite having only water when the food arrived I had to ask for utensils. The samosa was decent but nothing special. The tikka masala tasted like spiced ketchup sauce but at least the chicken was mostly tender. The naan wasnt bad so theres that. Then someone came and cleared my table, took the glass of water, and 5 minutes later I had to ask someone to give me the check. These other reviews got me in the place and now I wonder how on earth their experience so widely varied from my own.
We visited this place on Valentines day. Ordered the salmon Tikka and chicken Malai Tikka...the salmon Tikka was amazing...also ordered the chicken biryani but made the mistake of ordering it spicy!dont do that its extreeeeemely spicy...couldnt eat it ...though the flavor was rele good but couldnt eat it as our tongue n stomach was burning....maybe if u go for the non spicy version it will be good....v got a complimentary dessert for Valentines day and it was rice kheer...which was average....overall it was a good experience...the ambience was good and staff was polite n helpful..

2022-07-18The place was pretty empty when my friends and I came in. I do not know if we had arrived before their usual dinner rush or something, but we almost thought that they had not open yet. The waiters were patient and respectful. The food took a little long to come out, but were delicious. The place itself is a bit dim, but still neat and clean.

2022-09-01Phenomenal service. Delicious food and one of the few places willing to go above and beyond what’s expected. Waiter brought me a free drink while I was waiting for my order. 10/10

2022-09-15Lamb saagwala, butter chicken... They make everything really well. Great mint and tamarind sauces. Fluffy, charred naan breads...My only gripe is that they used to make really great rasmalai, but stopped since the pandemic. You know how hard it is to make rasmalai at home? You have to time things, and use cheese cloths...

2022-08-30Horrible. It used to be great years ago but the latest meal tasted like it was all made by someone who never cooked before. Saag paneer tasted burnt, meat was half grizzle and burnt, spice blends were never tasted before serving to paying customers. Mango lassi was the worst I ever had.
