This food was HORRIBLE the food was nasty they had close to nothing there the lady’s over the phone were SO RUDE when we walked in all they were doing was sitting down not making ANY fresh food their food tasted stale and it tasted like they were white this place needs to be shut down ASAP I suggest never to go to this place unless you want a horrible horrible dinner
First time customer. Me and my boyfriend got the curry chicken and jerked chicken. Both were ridiculously good. The meat was still on the bone and super tender. Both dishes were super flavorful, seasoned to perfection. The rice and beans were out of this world, and the plantains were sweet and moist (I HATE dry plantains--these was awesome). I literally cant wait for the next time Im in Middletown.
Good stuff! Curry chicken roti was flavorful with a good amount of spice and filling. Side of mac is hefty but a little bland. Food was fresh and the price ($10 for both items) is super reasonable. Loved that she informed us that the chicken had bones when we asked for the roti wrapped. Will definitely stop in again when in the area.
Wow! I was pretty far from home but this food made me feel like I never left! Amazing flavors, Mac and cheese to die for, and the eggplant curry and rice was absolutely ABSOLUTELY the best I’ve ever had!I’d spend my money here before I spent it on overly fried food, made with little or no effort. You can taste the care and love that goes into each dish. I will definitely be returning!
I like this place and frequent it enough for the owner to recognize us and she’s always sweet to my daughter. But today I had asked if they could substitute something for the sides they did not have. They still had their sign up stating the sides are included but don’t even have enough sides to cover them until they close. I don’t get how you close at 7 but ran out of sides hours before close and don’t bother to make more during dinner time. Cabbage and plantains do not take long to make. That’s what I call laziness and bad for business. Nothing comes free even though she said plantains and cabbage are free. I’ve learn about cost control through food service and every item is factored into the price, so if your missing sides that are supposed to be in the meal than you should either be substituting or giving a discount if you can’t keep your food in supply. Or at least take the sign down! Sadly I won’t be returning here. The woman working the counter could have at least acknowledged that I am a frequent customer instead of getting sarcastic and a bit rude. And it was not the owner it was one of her older employees but the owner sat there and said nothing.
Alright so if your yearning for some West Indian food I highly highly suggest you try this spot. Never had rasta pasta but it slapped, the aloo an eggplant tasted like it came from home and roti a little small for my liking but nonetheless it was on point. Price wise your not gonna break the bank here. All this place needs is a couple older folks in the corner drinking an playing cards.
They have the best Caribbean food Ive ever tasted so far in ny, and Ive been to many places but none compare to this. The food is very authentic and I love that they have theyre spices shipped from home, makes it all the much better. Pricing is very affordable and servings are more than enough. The sisters, are very nice and always make you feel welcomed.
God bless. Today I dined at this restaurant and it felt as I was away somewhere in the Caribbean while here in Cuomo run NYS. The music was great and if you look north youll see what appears to be a forest. Your imagination can run wild. Just focus north. If you look south you back in Middletown, NY. I saved the best for last. The food was SLAMMING and authentic Caribbean food. The Ox tail was devoured cause it was well seasoned and the portion was so genercous. I could not eat all. The rice, sweet plantain and cabbage was on point. I will most definitely be back here again and strongly recommend 👌 💯 this place. The staff were very friendly. Thank you so much. Great atmosphere even though it was raining. Thought I was back in 🇯🇲.
I was sent down to the city for some work this week. I got hungry on the way. My employer knows I love Caribbean cuisine. So he told me I had to stop at a small place in Middletown NY called Indirass Kitchen. The food indeed is incredible and the folks there could not have been nicer. Incredible food and service. The jerk chicken was some of the best iv ever had. The chicken was slow cooked to perfection making it simply fall off the bone. I also got to try a classic Caribbean dessert cassava pone. Which was beyond delicious and I highly recommend it for anyone. Especially those who like a good taste of fresh ginger. All in all highly recommend it. I will definitely be stopping on the way home in a couple days.
Indira & her staff are wonderful! Treated me like family from the moment I walked thru the door. Portions were great. Taste was great. Prices very reasonable. Been there more than once & will continue to return. FINALLY some authentic Caribbean cuisine in the neighborhood. And, believe me, Ive tried them ALL. Highly recommend!
Was very excited to try this place had driven past it a few times. I finally had time to have a sit down meal. To my surprise all the food was pre made. But the staff seemed pleasant so i placed my order from one of the 4 meat options. And then my food was placed in a bag. As if to say get out! I was very put off by that gesture. So proceed to drive to a parking lot around the corner that had trees to may be enjoy the day a bit as well. Apon opening my food I took my first bite of plantaines they were cold then found a dark hair in my rice. Very unfortunate. I will not be bringing my business back again .
I’m not going here again. I just came from from there and the food was terrible. Rice and peas watered down, jerk chicken super dry . No flavor. There are some days where it’s ok but today was the second time I had them and they were awful. I think they have different cooks and whomever cooked today needs assistance
Great food. Buffet/cafeteria style makes for quick service. My food was fresh, well flavored with big portions for reasonable price. Service is helpful and friendlyDecor isnt 5 star. Its basic with some seating.Mainly jerk and Caribbean style curries, goat, oxtail, chicken, shrimp, fish on menu
The food was not what I expected at all but was edible. This restaurant definitely needs more options in non-meat options or at least more fish options and I think it could draw more people! I gave 4 stars because it has parking and tables outside if you want to eat there in nice weather. Close to mall also!
This was our first time and we absolutely loved it!! We had the goat with the rice and sweet bananas. The flavor is really good with just the right amount of spiciness to it (that being said we both like spicy food). Very friendly staff, will be definitely coming here again!!
The young lady attending us was very kind and friendly. The food was good and they have a good variety of things to try other than savory food, such as sweets. The tables are pretty small so I dont recommend coming with a large group until the weather clears up and their tables outside become viable to eat at.
The value here is so just incredibly good that you would be foolish to pick any of the fast food places around the plaza instead of this place. The lunch special is an amazing amount of food and the taste is just insane. I got the curry chicken with rice and beans and plantains. The two working were really helpful and nice. The outdoor seating has a nice ambience too next to a kind of wooded area with Caribbean music playing and flags around. Great great gem in Middletown.
Order stew chicken with brown gravy and white rice and it was just horrible smh tasted old like it was left overs and salty as heck to try to mask the fact that it was old food also the mac&cheese was old like they put it in the microwave to re-heat very disappointed in the food!!
Great customer serviceGreat FlavorGreat Fresh FoodUnlike the area Jamaican/Caribbean establishments...they know how to treat customers...just look at their long lines and look at the other place/places.. and it speaks for itselfKudos!!! Indira May God bless and Favor your establishment.
Food was ok the first time I went I paid $21 for curry goat and oxtail (medium) second time my sister wanted to taste it I ordered the same thing got smaller portions and price went up to $26, my sister got upset and said I shouldnt have bought it, the oxtail was bitter Meaning they browned the sugar too much, the goat was a little bit tough they didnt cook it long enough, they dont have roti per say more like a sada type flat bread that they pass off as roti for true west Indians this is mediocre at Best wouldnt recommend it.
Today was my 2nd time there in two weeks. The food is excellent, however; today there was a new face serving the food, a middle-aged man, who served the smallest of portions - 3 pieces of plantains, 3 pieces of oxtail and maybe a teaspoon of gravy over the rice. Very unhappy. I was charged $9 for something that should have cost $2. Hopefully he will be removed serving in the future. If not, I can see the clientele diminishing!
I find it Overall good food... do try their chicken curry. I think it will be bit spicy for lots of palates but you will like the flavors.I can correlate their curries to more close to indian curries with lot of dry spices used.I think an option to choose mild curries would be better to capture majority returning customers...good luck👍🏽😀Looking forward to catering.
Its nice to have a real Caribbean homestyle restaurant in the area as a choice among all these cookie cutter fast food options. Especially when I dont feel like standing over a hot stove for hours or running into the city to get a plate of oxtails. The food is average but the customer service is outstanding. The owner makes you feel right at home. Prices are reasonable. She gets a rush during lunch hours so try to get in there by 11 am. Dont expect a traditional roti but keep in mind that shes adjusting for the area being served...or at least thats the excuse Im going with for the roti that I was served.
I from the Caribbean but unfortunately this was a disappointment experience. I noticed the plantains was crunchy and burnt Instead of her switching it to a decent plaintain she just apologized and didn’t care terrible costomer service by far.. the oxtail was under cooked no flavor.
The first time I tried the food was around when they first opened and it was good. I tried a few different things like oxtails and a double. The double wasn’t very flavor but the oxtails were cooked perfect. My 2 recent visits however left me wanting a refund if I lived closer My curry goat was under cooked and so were the oxtails and tasted like pure cinnamon. I should’ve know When I seen the Burnt rice, crunchy Mac & cheese, and black stew chicken but since I’ve had the oxtails before I thought I be fine it seems they are losing pride in their food and just putn stuff together and don’t even get me started on the grease soaked fritters that had absolutely no taste. I really liked this restaurant in the beginning and I’m very dissatisfied in the end. I will not be returning
I was hoping for good Caribbean food and I got dry roti, flavorless greasy rice and plantains were also very greasy. It’s a complete skip!If you KNOW Caribbean food, I would AVOID this place at all cost.Drinks were also gross. Also, people behind true counter were not friendly either.
I came out to support the my brethren for having the real authentic food from the Caribbean....but unfortunately it was not good...the oxtail was under cook and the jerk chicken was terrible....sorry I wish you great journey but i will not be a coming back to there....they say first impression is best and this was not at best ...good luck!
