Yum! I ordered the iced black sugar grass jelly soy milk and the Okra Belancan with Shrimp over rice. Okra and shrimp are fresh 😋.They added an egg on top- thank you for the nice surprise!!! They also accommodated to putting less sugar to my soy milk. Thanks again!I am a happy customer.Tip: Belancan is a savory shrimp paste - gives the flavor to this Malaysian dish. It gives the umami to the dish. 😋Happy eating!
Hainanese chicken is very juicy and delicious. My new go to malaysian restaurant. Every Ive tried so far is good. The sour cabbage fish head soup w mai fun, hor funs are super delicious it has that stir fry wok taste. Curry are super delicious too. If too spicy just skim the chili oil on top off.
I ordered delivery from here because my usual go-to Malaysian restaurant was closed, and wanted to try out other similar options in my area.I always get Hainanese chicken, because its one of my family members absolute favorite dish. Theyll always judge the quality of the Malaysian restaurant based on that single dish alone. I personally dont like Hainanese chicken, but when I tasted it from this restaurant, I could tell it was so-so compared to the one from our usual restaurant. There wasnt much flavor, and the chicken did not taste as fresh as it should be. Theres really nothing to hide behind if your Hainanese chicken isnt up to par, because its a very simple dish in terms of flavor profile. The gold standard is a very smooth, silken texture that is slightly below room temperature. This restaurant didnt hit that standard.I ordered the clay pot noodles, which look a bit like instant noodles with an egg-based gravy. It wasnt bad, but lacked seasoning. The overwhelming taste was greasy egg, with nothing to balance it out.The roti canai was good. It was the best thing that I ordered for my meal. The roti was soft and flaky, and the curry dip was spicy. Im a big spice lover, so if I can taste the heat, itll probably be too spicy for most normal folks. Personally, the curry didnt make me break out in a sweat or anything, but I can faintly feel it on my tongue, which means its likely to be plenty spicy for most everyone else. No other Malaysian restaurant Ive tried had curry that I could feel anything from, so this means I should order curry dishes from here over anything else, if I should order again in the future. The char kueh teow was also fine, but I think Ive had better elsewhere. It is lacking in seasoning, for sure. The belacan fried rice was bland and not spicy at all, even though it was marked as spicy on the menu. My family member who is unable to eat spicy foods at all didnt detect any spicy aspect to the dish, thats how not spicy it was.The restaurant was overall generous with the meat. Almost all the dishes I had had three to four shrimp included, and they were of good quality. The portions could have been bigger. They felt very small, because the containers were quite shallow. Its still enough for a meal, though. You just wont have much leftovers. My black sugar grass jelly soy milk drink was spilt, and I only received half of my drink as a result. It was fine, I enjoyed the black sugar taste. Its not too sweet, but theres a lot of ice.Not sure if Ill order from here again besides their curry dishes, but overall, it wasnt bad. Its just not the best Malaysian restaurant around.
Oh, what a wonderful place! The first thing you notice when you in there is that they are completely new. The waiter sits you at the table and brings tasty hot tea while youre browsing the menu. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced. I opted for some appetizers and an entree and was not disappointed. They were all delicious! Oh, the Thai BBQ ribs... The service was very humble, attentive and accommodating. I truly felt like I was being welcomed by the entire place. The manager (maybe owner) made his business to come over our table and ask if everything was to our satisfaction. And then they surprised me again. They offered a delicious ice cream dessert for free and my friend. I was told that I could have as much as I want. I asked for a second serving and was not turned down. The waiter was happy to bring me one! We left with an atmosphere, and joy. We were happy to leave 20% tip. On my way out I mentioned that they will get an unbiased review on Google and thats exactly what Im doing right now. Visit this place and you will not be disappointed!
I’ve been there twice and went back for their satay. I would say their satay is the best in NYC. It is not those dried and chewy plain children breast but juicy and tasty with very rich lemongrass flavor. I also had their curry noodle soups and Hainanese Chicken too. Their food are above standard for sure. It is outstanding food but the price is a lot cheaper than Nyonya. I am glad there is a great Malaysian restaurant in my area.
I have been ordering at least two to three times in week since 2 months ago. And each time, Ill order at least 2 meals to meet the delivery min of $15. But today, what surprise me was one of the dinner is undercooked Ipoh sauteed rice cake cube contact owner explained is not edible he goes, we are busy we cant make you a new order. But Ill flagged the kitchen chef to do better next time.. wth??? Im having dinner so the other person dont have to eat? You know what, goodbye 👋. Your wont have my business anymore!!
Chinese home cooking at its best, if you are tired of the generic and overpriced standard Chinese restaurant fares expected like the one across the street from Tasty Gardens, hop in to this mom and pops store for that fiery taste. Do be aware because this is a smaller operation, not all dishes may be available and some calling ahead may be required.
Every time I come here, the service attitude is good. The only time I encounter a flat-headed waiter twice is that it is strange that the food is placed at the table instead of in front of the people. Last weekend I came here to send dessert and it was only after two or three reminders. This time I pretended not to understand, hell

2022-06-13A tastier Malaysian restaurant compared to the handful on 86th st. Price wise is about the same. Faves include roti canai, grilled satay chicken and beef, Ipoh fried pearl noodles, sarang burung, coconut rice and chicken flavored rice. The ehhh- Hainanese chicken texture was a bit off, but the dipping sauce was really good. Having had the Kang kung (morning glory) belacan twice, it may be a bit tough/fibery. Mango smoothie was a bit too sweet and had artificial taste.

2021-09-01It was fantastic dinning experience that didnt break the bank, the food was excellent, the waiter was very nice ,respectful and helpful.i would highly recommend their establishment.there is a very large Asian restaurant across the street from this place,I checked out there menus and the food looked very appealing, but the prices were out of range for the local.it started at $35per person.i went across the street to a small place that was decorative, clean nice ambiance and a affordable menu.i posted what I had for dinner there.i was so impressed that I was very generous with the tip.and took home a doggybag.

2021-07-10My friends and I are regulars at this restaurant and we always come after a game of handball. The coffee is strong the black sugar grass jelly soy milk is so delicious! We always get the roti canai; it’s a bit spicy here but that’s how we like it.The restroom was super clean and nice which is an plus. Servers were nice, attentive, and fully staffed so that’s cool as well.

2021-08-02Cannot believe how small the portion is. You definitely will not be full from this. They charge you full price but only fill half the carton. You see the picture below, alot of empty space. And their roti is also so small. Extremely disappointed, will never come back

2020-09-05This Malaysia restaurant just open one month ago. The food is good and authentic. Chicken satay is very tender. Beef satay is also flavored. Nasi Lemah is decent. The owner is nice and friendly. Highly recommend!

2022-06-30Good food! Nice people. Its not cheap, and I kinda expected larger portions. One of my dishes was missing the fried egg. Other than that, I plan on returning.

2022-08-23I ordered one Hainanese chicken rice. The food tastes ok, but it’s too little for adult . I think the food portions is only enough for kids. I will not recommend for anyone.
