Nothing like the Ippudo restaurant in Japan, the service was ok until I realized they charged me extra with something I didn’t even order. I didn’t even want to argue over because of an extra topping which I didn’t order and they didn’t provide, I can tell how careless the waiter was.The taste of ramen was flavorless and the soup wasn’t warm enough. The noodle was even stuck together and took me a while to separate it.This was definitely the worst Ippudo experience I have ever had, and I will encourage people in New York go to other better ramen shops. This place doesn’t deserve a second visit and you should train your staff better.
Ippudo serves up excellent bowls of ramen with a variety of toppings and broths to choose from. If you are planning on dining during popular lunch or dinner times, you will likely deal with a one to two hour wait, however those patient enough will be rewarded with expertly prepared ramen and prompt service. The dimly lit and maze-like dining area consists of a number of different areas which have all been divided during the a pandemic for the protection of guests. The Tonkotsu broth was rich and creamy and the noodles have just the right amount of chew, and the marinated egg was jammy and perfectly seasoned. The chashu pork was tender but could have been improved by some additional seasoning or by searing after slicing.Ippudo is also known for their pork buns, however, these were not a stand out menu item for me. Ramen is really where Ippudo shines. And while Ippudo demands a premium price for their dishes but they deliver on the quality and the customizability of each bowl.
I went there for a late lunch on Sunday and got seat in within 5 mins. If you’re a fan of tonkotsu broth with thin noodles ramen, you have to come here! I ordered the Akamaru Shiniji, it comes with pork belly charsiu which melt in your mouth, very flavorful tonkotsu broth but not too heavy tasting, unami dama - fermented miso paste, green onions for refreshment and bamboo. I usually like spicy food, so I requested some hot sauce on the side.Warning: their ramen portion is relatively small!
Out of the world Ramen! This place nailed it in every sense , really amazing place and food. When I got there, they seated me right away in a bar type counter to eat and everybody just welcomes you at the same time . The staff was super nice , they had an impeccable place. The food is excellent and very affordable, in my opinion it was wayyyy too good. The ramen was incredible and the offer extra noodles (Kaedama) for only $3 ! Really recommend, fills you up !
The ramen was decent but not great. Noodles were a little chewy and thin. And the meat didn’t had flavor at all. The broth needed more flavor as well. I think it was a little overpriced for what it was. The pork bun on the other hand, was quite good. Very well marinated with the sauce.
WOW. Ippudo is truly an amazing restaurant with top-level ramen and overall food. The design of the restaurant is amazing, comfortable seating and amazing interior. The menu is simple and lets you get to know the food. Its pricey, though for ramen on this level, its worth the cost. Its truly a luxury and even throughout covid, they served amazingly. The ramen is exquisite, and although expensive, things that are above average come at a cost. The pork buns here are also delicious and have an amazing taste that bursts in your mouth, just putting a grin on your face. The ribs are also very tasty and it comes with a rich, flavored sauce. My ideal order is the Karaka spicy ramen with the pork buns, its an amazing combo though I suggest you take whatever you believe suits you the best if youre planning to eat here. Ive taken the ribs and other ramen flavors before, but the Karaka spicy ramen and pork buns go together all too well and are just my personal #1 pick.Ive eaten here multiple times and will return more and more.おいしかった です。
Bustling lively atmosphere with satisfactory service and knowledgeable waitstaff makes it easy to have a great time here. We were able to walk in less than an hour after opening but it is usually packed so consider making a reservation to play it safe. The menu is easily accessible with a smart phone and the food was pleasing.
First timer - without reservation approximately 40 minutes after opening I went it with my husband for a table inside. Current climate, asked for our vaccination cards and IDs. We were seated promptly, and the staff was very attentive. Space was clean, tables were socially distanced. For drinks, my husband ordered the Sakura which was nice, however the end has a strong grapefruit flavor. I ordered the choryo which was lovely. We ordered a pork bun, chicken bun, I got the shiromaru motoaji with pork and a boiled egg, and my husband got the akamaru shinaji with chicken. The buns were fantastic. The rich pork was seated in a beautiful cloud, with lettuce - bringing a chew and cleanliness to the flavor. The chicken was delicious with crisp skin and a nicely spiced sauce, also with lettuce. The shirmaru soup was lovely. Noodles were perfect, broth was flavorful and the egg was lovely. The akamaru had a nice hit of heat, same wit the noodles and broth. I absolutely loved coming here and I see myself revisiting.UPDATEWent back, around 7PM. 10 minute wait for seats. Felt quicker. Got to our seats and scanned for the menu. I got the lychee martini which was delicious and my husband got plum wine which was delicious. Pork buns were amazing. Vegetable buns amazing. Chicken buns amazing. Shrimp buns amazing. Had the pork rice bowl. Delicious. Pork was juicy. Husband had ramen— they got it wrong he wanted chicken but they gave him pork. He didn’t care tho and ate it anyway. Lol. Love this place.
Do not let this picture deceive you! As beautiful and appetizing as this dish looks, it’s not all that great. I got the Karaka ramen and it came with Two VERY PAPER THIN SLICES OF PORK CHASHU. On top of that i had to pay $3 extra dollars just to add a hard boiled egg. This restaurant makes you pay for add ons for things that should already be on the ramen such as seaweed. The noodles were not that great. One thing i ask is MAKE THICKER PORK CHASHU. Yall are stingy with the pork for no reason.
Up Thai is a perfect place to grab dinner or lunch after a long walk at Central Park or a trip to the Met. All the food we tried from the menu were freshly made and the curry puffs and spring rolls are some of the best weve had. The mango sticky rice deserves a huge shout-out too. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we decided to sit outside but the indoors looked super cute with top-shelf liquors at the bar. Overall, if youre in the area, Id strongly recommend.
How very disappointing I found this place. It wasn’t that the food wasn’t good, the broth was amazing, the rest was mediocre the noodles were OK. But what forced me to give this place a one was the awful service. We were led to our table by young man who didn’t even tell us where to said he just walked in the back. We sat down and ordered they were two of us I asked the waitress what was a good appetizer to share she said the wings. We then ordered our soup I wanted mine spicy so I ordered the spicy one, we asked which one wasn’t spicy and she pointed to one so we ordered that for my friend. When the wings came there were three, why didn’t she say they were three in the order? How are 2 people supposed to split 3 wings ?? Next hour soup came, my friends was really spicy which he didn’t want. But the waitress never came over to check on us to see how our food was, and as soon as we finished our soup a guy oped over grabbed our bowls off the table and laid down the check. He wasn’t even our waiter, and he proceeded to pace back-and-forth waiting for me to sign and tip them. I work in customer service I thought this whole experience was appalling. The management needs to get on their team it wasn’t even busy when we were there. We were so disappointed because we heard so many good things about this place. Not to mention when we asked about the house sake our waitress said I don’t know I’ve never tried it. Maybe she should try it and maybe she should try being waited on. So disappointing for the price
I got the vegetarian karaka spicy and my friend got the Akamaru Shinaji, the broth for the ramen was exceptionally good. Few of the best ramen spots in the city to try. You will not regret coming here and you feel immediately welcomed. Come here for a heartwarming bowl of ramen and many other things.
Ippudo seriously has the best ramen. The soup is so tasty. You can pick the firmness of your noodle. That’s a plus! I also love their pork buns, been there many times and the taste’s always consistent. Servers are friendly and quick. Atmosphere is great as well. Loud but good loud. Highly recommend!
If you want to forget about letting down everyone in your life get some pork buns.If you want to squeal get their Aburi Unagiri. If you want to feel like you did the first time you heard “Here Comes the Boom” by P.O.D. get that spicy (but not too spicy you bland, fragile little shell of a human) ramen.
BEWARE. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR HOT TEA! I’ve been to 50+ Japanese restaurants IN NYC and i’ve NEVER had to pay for hot tea. They didn’t even tell us it wasn’t free! Astonishingly bad customer service. Anyway, I got the Kakaru Spicy, Shiomaru Ramen, and chicken bun. I have to admit. Prices were pretty dang hefty but what can you do. $5 for a chicken bun? you’ve got to be kidding me! It was good and all, but definitely not worth $5. The ramen was also pretty good. The broth from the Shiomaru was nice. I always prefer the wavy noodles. Anyway, was a decent visit, but definitely not coming back!
To me, didn’t live up to the hype and although the food is good and tasty, the overall experience is not positive. The portions are small and they even charge extra for the egg (??).The ramen is good, granted, but it is way overpriced all things considered: small portion, no egg and they also ask for tips while a number of other Japanese restaurant in the city don’t as a cultural thing (Nothing against tipping but it is another 20% to be considered in the comparison with other ramen places).Ichiran will still be my n.1 spot, probably never again here.
I have had plenty of ramen and always thought it was just OK and never craved it. But that was before I went here. I don’t know how else to explain it but the flavor in the Karaka Spicy ramen were amazing. I had it with chicken and it was so tender and delicious. They gave plenty of noodles. It wasn’t really spicy so ask for extra spice if you want some heat. The pork bun was the most unappetizing looking yet most deli tone I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back.
Small portion, so expensive!!We paid almost $25 for 4 bites of ramen. The place is so lousy and the waiter pushed us to pay quick! (there was no waiting line at all and tons of seats were empty even Friday night)Never come back! There are bunch of ramen places way better than here.
Best ramen I had in NY.Pork buns and shishito peppers with yuzu salt are amazing.Karaage was nice but not the best I ever hadBroth of the ramen is just getting better and better with each spoon. Akamuru shinaji has a creamy broth whereas karaka spicy is spciy and deliciousMy fav part of the meal was Yuzu citrus sake!
Came here shortly after opening and there was no wait. Got a chicken bun and the nirvana akamaru vegetable ramen with an added egg and added chicken. The chicken bun was great and the ramen was alright but was worth trying. Note: I don’t eat pork but have heard those are the go to dishes here.
Ramen was very good but service was awful. We had dinner here tuesday night around 530-6pm and we were a table of 5. We had order 1 shishitos, 2 spicy gyoza, 1 rib special, 1 Hamachi for appetizers and 4 Ramen bowls, a rice bowl for entrees as well as 5 beers. We had ordered alot and I was very surprised they messed up our experience. It felt as if we were being rushed out. They first sent out our drinks, started off well, then they only sent out shishitos FOLLOWED BY our entrees of Ramen and my husbands rice bowl. Then came the gyoza (were just steamed not pan fried like traditional gyoza) then Hamachi (which tasty very fishy, surprised they left the bloodline). Our 1 order of ribs was only served after asking 3 waitstaff repeatedly and even at the 3rd person, we were done waiting as our ramen were finish, the meal was over. We wanted to cancel the ribs and thats when they arrived. The plate consisted of 2 pieces not portioned or even served with a cutting utensil for us. The woman who served our 2 little dessert ribs didnt even finish her sentence when she was trying to explain how to portion them and simply walked away. My husband was furious but didnt want to cause a scene for our guests so we left quickly.Very shocked and ashamed thats how they treat bigger parties so if you have a party of 5 be very on top of their waitstaff before they try to rush you out as well.
Very efficient even while busy. Its great they have vegan friendly broths and dishes, but a shame that they dont offer a vegan option for the noodles, so I couldnt get the full experience. I understand the Hakata style noodles are its own thing but hopefully Ippudo wants to work on that in the future!
Ippudo is one of my favorite ramen spots in NYC.I think it’s the combo of their thin noodles, savory broth, and seasonings. I know I don’t always like different ramens so for some reason Ippudo is one of the few places I actually like coming back to.I think their pork puns are okay, I haven’t had one in years and tried it today.I really like their goma cucumber dish: so flavorful! And they seem to take covid safety very seriously: from the moment I walked in, I had to first fill out a touch less QR code contract tracing form online from my phone, before getting temperature scanned, then seated in areas that are blocked off from every other area.
Nice ambience and music at this ramen bar. Some tables are big so you may have share a table with another group.Would recommend the akamaru shinaji and shrimp bun. The ramen seemed a bit small in quantity for the price. They also offer additional toppings for the ramen. I ordered a softboiled egg, but the center was a bit cold as it was likely placed in the fridge after being cooked.
Nice restaurant, not much of a variety and if you want a boiled egg, or any extra toppings it’s going to cost you! Just the ramen alone is $20 not including $2 extra for whatever else you’d want to add to the ramen!!!!!I liked the food but I think Ichiran is way better and more affordable!!
Not bad Ramen, but felt like it was a little salty especially miso chicken one. Its different then ichran, more menu choices. Noodles were cooked really good. Soup base was good. But overall, I dont get that feeling where I feel I have to go back there everytime Im in town. Thats the reason its not 5 stars
I was rushed to order and the salmon roll was taken from the refrigerator and delivered in less than 5 minutes. Rushed again to get the check even though the place was almost empty. $18 for 4 super small pieces of pre cooked sushi. In and out in less than 18 minutes. I will not go back there any time soon
As always the best ramen in the city. I cant praise these guys enough. Of and dont miss out on the starters as they are sublime! Staff here will always take care of you and make sure you get it exactly how you want it. Dont be shy to ask.You will be kicking yourself if you dont get to this place ASAP
My friend and I visited this place on a Friday night and it was pretty busy, but that did not interfere with the service. We waited about 25 min to be seated (totally ok with that), and our food was served quickly! We had the oishii karaage, akamaru and karaka spicy ramen, broken heart cocktails, and they were all delicious! It was the perfect dinner to end our vacation from CA!
I seriously don’t get the hype of this place, but I am a well traveled person and maybe my standards are different. I came here to celebrate my brothers birthday and thought we could cut our cake afterwards but we were told we had to leave. They will cut you off because they are busy and literally tell you that you can’t order any more food or drinks because they need to sit other people waiting to eat at this extremely mediocre restaurant. This place is NOT worth the wait time!!
You can never go wrong with a classic bowl of ramen at Ippudo.Ippudo is hands down my favorite ramen spot in the city. I’ve been to a lot of ramen places and Ippudo is my benchmark for top quality ramen. As of this review, no ramen has surpassed Ippudo in terms of richness from the broth and overall taste. The ramen is simple yet complex in flavor. They also have a revolving menu that will keep you coming back. Please don’t change Ippudo. You are one of those places who do ramen right.
The best ramen in the city! I have a wonderful experience every time I come. The staff is quick and helpful and knowledgable and the food is consistently superb. The akamaru with tamago is the best ramen Ive ever had and the broth is rich and flavorful without being too heavy. Also dont miss out on the pork buns or the chicken wings. The pork buns specifically are life changing. I like to top it off with a delicious lychee martini. My friends and I come about twice a month as a tradition and Im always looking forward to it. Its the first place I bring people when they visit me in New York.
Delicious, authentic ramen. Indoor dining or takeout, you can’t go wrong! Tables were socially distant & the food came out quickly. I was very full. I got the spicy ramen, super delicious & will definitely be returning! They also have multiple locations depending on where you’re at in the city which is nice for booking reservations.
Probably the best Ramen in New York! Try the deep fried shrimps, it is excellent! When you arrive all the personnel will welcome you with big shout. There is usually a long line, so be prepared to wait before getting your table. I had a vegetarian Ramen which was succulent! It was worth waiting. I do highly recommend if you visit the neighborhood.
We (a party of 4) stopped in without a reservation, just after their lunch crowd. We were seated within 20 minutes, even though they said it may be up to 40 minutes. The ambiance in this place is understated elegance. Our servers were too notch and friendly. After reading on the menu that they do not allow doggie bags (OR take-out!), we decided to keep it simple, because who wants to waste good food?! And from the personal recommendations wed gotten, the reviews, the delicious aromas wafting around us, and by simply looking around us after we sat down, it was clear these were fresh ingredients, prepared very carefully.I got the Pork Hirata Buns and Hirata Chicken Wings. The others in my party got the Akamaru Modern Ramen, Torishio with Nitamago, and Wasabi Shoyu Ramen. All were spectacular and there was not a single drop of anything, to clean from our dishes! My seatmates were nice enough to allow me to taste their ramen, and out of them, the Wasabi Shoyu Ramen was probably my favorite.Even with all the many places to choose from in NYC, this is one restaurant we can see frequenting again and again! Only docked them a star, because Id have really liked to have brought some of their Ramen home!
The ramen is always delicious! Try to get here early as you cannot make reservations. The staff is friendly and attentive. I appreciate that there is a bar up from if you just want a few drinks and a quick appetizer. Note for ramen lovers, save some soup so you can order a second helping of noodles!
We got lucky and came just as a table was freed, usually theres a bit of a wait, they dont do reservations. Wait staff was fantastic and food was to die for. We had a vegan in our group and the waiter helped her decide on which foods she could eat. Theres option to get extra noodles in your ramen for only $2, def recommend that. Let the wait staff know, and keep part of your broth for it after youre done with the initial portion of noodles. The Jap peppers arent generally spicy, only a few were, a bit of a Russian Roulette, but even the spicy ones arent deadly 😂 The black sesame pudding with blueberry sauce was a delight, lightly sweetened and the sauce was tarte, balancing it out. A little on the pricier side but overall A+!
Great place for some great ramen. A friend introduced me to this about a year ago. Recently took a trip to NYC for some ramen and definitely loved it!The broth and the ramen are to die for. Their buns are not bad either, a little pricey but I would suggest the ramen.Their Tokyo noodles do absorb more of the broth than the thinner ones (forget what its called).Their service is also first-rate. Definitely worth a visit!
Hi,Everything in this place is made with a lot of care about the little details. The Ramen in this place is great if you like RamenAll the starters was really great, especially the buns .The service was a little slow, but thats the only thing that we had a problem with.If you like Asian, youll really enjoy it.
Hotess and waiters greet you coming in and leaving in Japanese. Their ramen have great favor and a good variety of selections. I am not a drinker, but they do have nice list of sake. Try the pull pork as added topping for the ramen, its really good! Nice decor, they have big booth for party up to 10.
Best ramen Ive had. Shiromaku Hakata Classic was great, but doesnt come with an egg. I prefer thicker ramen noodles, but Ippudos thin ones are a nice alternative. The portions are not that large for the price, but fortunately, extra noodles are only $2. The broth was great and the Hirata Pork Buns were delicious.
We went right when they opened at 12 and sat right down. Ordered the spicy ramen, marinated cucumber, and some bao buns that were to die for. I would definitely recommend this place if you like this type of food. I can’t wait to come back next time I come to NYC. YUMMY
First time trying Ippudo and I was very impressed! The inside is really nice and servers are friendly and helpful! My friends (2) and I sat at a table with other guests. We ordered the poutine fries, pork buns, and a Akamaru ramen (with egg) to share. The pork buns came out first (waited probably 10min) and they were delicious! The buns were soft and the pork was tender and sweet!! Then came the truffle poutine fries and it was great! A little salty but the meat was good and the fries went really well with the meat and gravy sauce! Then came the ramen and it was so so good!! The broth was EXCELLENT and the noodles were a perfect texture! I honestly regretted sharing it because it was just so good! The servers were great too! I drink a lot of water and every time I went to grab my half empty cup, it was always full! I was surprised because I never even saw or heard the server pour the water! (This literally happened 3 times!)All in all I would definitely come back to try the other ramens. There was a Yuzu ramen as one of their specials and I really want to try that one next.
Finally made it here, and was not disappointed. The food was awesome, the service was fast and friendly, and the vibe was fun. Staff sporadically rattling off Japanese was a good time.I had the spicy pork ramen, and ended up having two extra orders of noodles to dump in it. I wanted to keep going, but my stomach demanded that I engage some restraint. Will have to wait for next time...
Nice Ramen place in NYC with awesome ratings. Lot of vegetarian options available which are delicious. However you to prepare yourself to wait for more than hour on weekend evening. One of the ramen dish served in my group was cold and they didn’t warm it up when requested.
I want to say that I loved this place, I really do but it just didnt do it for me. The ramen was okay but for the price was definitely not worth it. While I can appreciate the work the staff put into making the experience as authentic as possible it comes off as a bit to much. The service our waiter gave us was great but the whole experience seemed a bit rushed because of how packed the place was.If you have extra wiggle room in your wallet I say you try this place and make your own opinion. But for me it was a but overrated.
This was the best ramen I’ve ever had! The Nirvana Karaka spicy and the Nirvana Akamaru were both fantastic. The Karaka was spicy but not overwhelmingly so, and the Akamaru was very savory. The to go “kit” had all the ingredients separated out so it was easy to carry and assemble. We added a soft boiled egg at home to ours. Highly recommend going here!
My favorite Ramen place in NYC. Got my usual Akamaru ramen and pork and shrimp buns. Glad they brought the shrimp buns back here! They are amazing. We went for a bottle of dry sake and it paired really well with our meal. Overall a fun evening. The waits can be long but our group of 8 came here around 5:15pm to beat the rush.
I loved this place, this was my first time eating ramen and was an unique experience. Its a little bit expensive $16 to $18 if you order a simple plate of soup, but they have some extras that you can add and are additional in cost. If you can, order the pork buns, they are exceptional. The attention and the place are really good as well. I had to wait like 10 minutes to sit down and order.
I wake up craving Ippudo, since I first visited. It may seem like many people are waiting for tables in the front bar, but it moves through really quickly and you wont regret the wait. Staff and atmosphere are fun and friendly, but the star of the show is the phenomenal food. Everything Ive ordered is amazing, but dont leave without trying the eggplant buns. There were a tonne of great vegetarian options for my veggie happy friends.
As you walk in you put your name down. My friend and I came early and we still had 30 minute wait for the two of us. There was benches and a bar to wait at. You can order beer and snacks at the bar. After our wait we walked to the back. The sitting style was untraditional and the wait staff was talking at us in their native tongue. My friend and I got Pork buns and edamame. The pork buns were great and the edamame had interesting powder that was limey to dip in.Most of the ramen on the menu was pork based. The had a few vegatable based ones as well. The only chicken Based one was their seasonal summer. The chicken ramen was light and citrusy. The noodles were thin and there wasnt too much going on.Overall we had a great experience. Highly recommend.
This was my first visit to this establishment. Even though I sometimes work right next door, I never had anyone to go with for lunch and didnt want to go alone until yesterday. The first thing you notice is you get transported into almost a different world. Thats not because of the decoration but because of the way the restaurant is closed off from the big city its in. Right away you get transported into the noises, smells and business thats all contained within.Even though I did but order much (wasnt very hungry), the veggie Ippudo buns that I ordered were amazing! The bun was light as air and soft like youd think a cloud would be. The mushrooms were tender and cooked with a crisp. The teriyaki sauce was perfect and the lettuce just have that slight break in flavor for you to get another burst of taste from the buns. All in all, a great visit. I plan on visiting again in the very near future and try the ramen and a few other items on the menu. For now Ill leave it at 4 stars. If my next visit goes as well as this one (which I assume it will from what I saw this time) Ill change the rating to a 5 which is what this restaurant deserves.
One of my favorite ramen spots in the city! Open all day Friday - Sunday (dinner starts at 4:45PM) To avoid the rush, arrive right as dinner is about to start! My party of 2 was seated right away at 5:15 on a Friday. Otherwise, expect to wait a while to be seated especially on a weekendWe ordered two Karaka-men: spice level is definitely manageable! As you can see from the photo, the spice paste comes on top unmixed so you have the option to take some off as needed. The pork buns were flavorful and tender and the chicken wings, crispy and complimented nicely with the cold sesame oil smothered cabbageTotal bill for two ramen and two appetizers: $55
This place never let’s me down. During covid season, they keep distances well, staff members are always wearing masks and gloves. Temperatures of the customers are checked before coming in. But most importantly, their food quality is still high quality! It’s heart breaking for me to see less customers during these season, but it was still absolutely amazing experience with the place.
Yum! Yum! Yum! The wait is about 2 -hrs. Put your name down and go get a drink in the area. Theyll text you when Im out table is ready (which is the best service ever for waiting customers). Broth is thick and creamy. Seriously hits the spot for ramen craving on a cold rainy night.
Ahhh...waited nearly an hour for a Saturday lunch. The restaurant is so busy. When we finished lunch at nearly 3pm there were still few people waiting in line. The soup base is rich and delicious but I prefer my noodles more soft so their noodles are a bit too chewy taste like not cooked properly. Truffle potato is tasty and good companion to beer.
Ippudo NY is a gem. Amongst a sea of other ramen choices in the area, I think this is one of the best Ive had. If youre coming here, be aware there will more than likely be a wait time. So come early and save your place in line. Staff is generally friendly and very efficient when it comes to moving customers in and out. Clean interior, low lit atmosphere, great for small groups or intimate outings.Tried two different ramen bowls and a seasonal poutine dish. Akamaru ramen was definitely a good choice for me, as I love the more thick and flavorful broths. Poutine was great for a starter, as that came out before the ramen did. Good amount of cheese and gravy, mixed with a handful of fries and meat. Do try this dish if its still on the menu.Overall, I see a lot of reviews about the wait time being the worst part. If youre not a patient person, then good things are hard to come by for you. Ippudo NY definitely attests to that, as waiting just a little bit. Can be very rewarding, at least to me it did. Will be recommending to others and coming back in the future.
This place is awesome.. i love the soup broth, its so tasty and flavorful. They use the thin legit ramen noodle, not the usually egg wavy noodle. The appetizers here super delicious.. even if you dont feel like ramen, just the appetizers should be enough to make you want to come here to eat.For larger parties, they have special tables/seatings so the wait is usually much less!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Cool, Japanese inspired interior. The bartender took his time to make excellent drinks (I had a Suntori old fashioned that went surprisingly well with the spicy ramen), and the exclusive dark ale brewed in NY was great. The food was definitely the star of the show. The pork steamed buns were solid. The Karaka Men ramen was perfectly spicy (probably too much if youre from Minnesota and a hair above mild for Texans), and the shredded pork extra topping was a definite plus. Its a fairly rich and filling dish, with the perfect amount of noodles and other ingredients, particularly if you get a couple of extra toppings. Great food for a rainy or snowy evening.
Ippudo is my the first choice whenever I am craving for ramen. The waiters are always friendly and attentive. We ordered the pork bun, Akameru Modern, and Karaka-men.The ramen broth is made perfectly! Very flavorful with a good amount of meat added. Their pork bun is a MUST try! The texture of the bun is soft and the meat is very delicious and melts right in your mouth. Their pork buns is hands down the best one Ive ever had!Be warned that this place can get very busy due to their reputation! So do make your reservations ahead of time if youre a group of 4 people or more. All in all I highly recommend Ippudo!
The dish was delicious. Super delicious. Very fatty. Very expensive as well. Everybody greet you when you enter the place. The place is very dark. Braised pork belly a piece is very tender and delicious but charge $5. Its worth it for one time ONLY!!! Recommend coming here
Beautiful place, beautiful food, nice service. The decoration is striking, modern classic japanese. The music is groovy but homy. This place definitely aspire to be hype and sometimes this kills the quality of the food.It is not happening here:The fried chicken is excellent, tender and juicy. The chicken broth and shoyu ramen is very good with a jint of yozu ( japanese lime). The service is fast and attentive.
This place was amazing! Period.First off, expect to wait. Enter your name and give them your phone number. They will text and call you when your table is ready. Go somewhere and have drinks (or at their small bar). Once our table was ready , we had two cocktails: My cocktail with grapefruit was wonderful. The Manhattan my partner has was not. I guess your mileage may vary. For food, you must start with the steam buns. This is not an option! The pork steamed buns were the best I’ve ever had. Then, when you move on to the entree, I can definitely recommend the spicy Tonkatsu. It’s legit. Also, just to be clear, it’s not crazy spicy, it’s just good. Very, very good. Splurge for the seasoned egg. It really adds a lot and it it’s authentic. In summary, go here and enjoy!
Ippudo is a great restaurant. As youre brought to your table the entire staff will welcome you in with a smiley cheer! The food is great, the pork and chicken buns are a must! Leaving these off your order would be a shame and complete mistake! It doesnt matter which ramen you choose because theyre all great! Enjoy Ippudo - you wont be disappointed.
When you come in theres usually a wait but once the wait is over you get a loud welcome from the staff. the waiting area is quite small but there are two benches you can sit while you wait. they have two small bathrooms available for use. the broth of the ramen is fantastic. we sat next to the kitchen and got to see them prepare food which was pretty nifty. good times. this was probably my seventh visit... and probably not the last
Ippudo NY is a gem.
We went to lunch at noon on Saturday and waited about 20 minutes for a table. We ordered a local ale to help the time pass, it was very good and our bill was able to be transferred to our table. Once seated we ordered steamed pork buns and Karaka Men with poached egg and pulled pork additions. Everything was delicious and amazing. There was a bit of heat but nothing to crazy maybe medium spice. The pulled pork was unbelievable, HIGHLY suggest that addition. The bartenders really pride themselves on cocktails so we tried an old fashion, it was a great drink. Next visit we are going to ask to be seated at the bar so we can watch the chefs.
Busy, fast paced establishment. Attentive efficient staff. Ramen was really good. Ive missed something about the vege broth I had ordered, although my boyfriends bowl was superior. Adding staff yelling to eachother amongst mounching customers it was quite an experience there :)
I have sort of a ramen obsession as of late. Its only right that I go try Ippudo.I believe that these are the best broths I have ever tasted. They were rich with flavor and each type brought something new to the table, each seasoned to perfection. The pork belly was tender, but I cant say that it was the best one Ive ate, but still near the top of my list.Usually the egg is soft-boiled, but these came with pouched eggs...which I dig. I prefer to go against tradition when it comes to this part of the ramen cause I like the pouched egg better in my ramen. Now, the part which I had the issue with was the noodle (thus why I cant say this was the best ramen Ive ever had). They were thinner than I would like them, it changed the texture of the noodle for me and made it a bit too hard; in the spectrum of konaotoshi rather than barikata (which is my preferred hardness). I like it with a bit of a chew, I didnt get that from the noodle. Not to say that the noodles were bad, they were just a bit too thin for my preference.I got the karaka-men cause I like it spicy. It wasnt too spicy, I could have used a pinch more spice. But then again, I guess it was right cause it didnt burn your taste buds to oblivion and all you can taste is spice. The broth flavor still shine through the spice. So, it worked out.
This is the first visiting I have made to an Ippudo outside of Japan. This is a fairly large location, and I had no problem finding a seat on a Friday evening. If you are in a larger group, you would obviously want to calculate a decent amount of wait time. The service is speedy and personal. I ordered my food, and it arrived nearly 2 minutes later. The ramen was incredible with a rich, fatty broth and never-ending flow of, what I consider, the best noodle texture for tonkotsu ramen.
Friday is my second favorite F word — my first one is Food! Tasted the amazing ramen @ippudony! Excellent food, customer service, beautiful décor and everything you’d want from a restaurant. We ordered a glass of Matcha Hai (Matcha cocktail, strong and tasted amazing), Orion (Japanese Beer), Vegetable Ippudo Buns (Eggplant, sweet and spicy - just how I like it), Akamuru NY (vegetarian ramen w/ steamed boiled eggs) and Shiromaru NY (vegetarian ramen). Personally we felt the Akamuru ramen had much more flavor to it. Both of the ramens do have meat options available. Their desserts are catered by @ladymcakes! Overall a great experience!
Amazing!!! Sooo yummy. The broth was sooo good, you can taste so many different flavors. The pork belly is amazing, super flavorful and soft, the noodles were the perfect texture. Such a great bowl to have on a cold fall day. The egg was not runny in the middle and was a bit cold but it was still very flavorful. We got the spicy ramen. I highly recommend this place.
Yummm. Ippudo is always a great place to take your friends when they are in town visiting. The ramen is always very flavorful and filling. We got the pork buns this time as well and the bun and meat were both soft and flavorful. Would recommend coming early for dinner on a weekday to avoid lines!
Ippudo is an amazing place for late night ramen. The flavour of the broth is definitely on point, and the noodles have the perfect texture. Also, the Brooklyn Brewing Company beer that is made for Ippudo is incredible, and pairs perfectly with the ramen. If youre in search of ramen in NYC, look no further than Ippudo. The decor in the restaurant is also a highlight, and they did an amazing job of making it look great inside. I cannot recommend this place enough. Check it out!I will come back next time Im in NYC for sure!
This is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE place to eat in NYC! Hands down BEST Ramen on the face of the planet!!! I travel a lot and while in South Africa I met someone else that also agreed Ippudo is the best Ramen out there. I always order the Amaraku New York and it NEVER disappoints. Honestly I ate here 4 times last week! If you go be SURE to order the shishito peppers! GIRL! They are so good uhh and the vegetable buns! Omg Im about to go right NOW! You will NOT be disappointed. Now they do NOT take reservations and there will most likely be an hr wait unless you are a party of 1 BUT it is worth the wait especially if you desire to taste greatness and if you complain about the wait and leave you are unworthy and YES ippudo is that good.
Came here for an early weekday lunch at around 11:30 am and we were offered seats at the counter or communal table without any wait. Great and fast service. Had the Akamura modern noodles, spicy Kakura noodles and pork buns. Portions are good-sized and its only a few dollars more for extra noodles. Both broths were delicious and flavorful. No MSG in the soup, because I was not thirsty or having headaches after the meal - which is a plus! Pork buns were a little too salty but still okay - reminds me of Chinese pork buns in a different form. Ramen was so good that we look forward to returning. Highly recommend for a satisfying meal.
30 min wait which was expected on Friday night. I had tsuke men. The noodle was more like Udon than ramen. It was not egg noodle. Food tasted ok. I liked the egg, it was cooked right. I came here because they open late, I did not have cash and they take CC for payment. Interiors are interesting. Music was a bit too loud for my taste. The service was good.
Great service! They were very attentive on everything (I went for lunch with a friend around 2 pm and it wasnt to busy which was what I was worried about). There pork buns... Omg DELICIOUS! I wanted another! But I needed room for my Ramen which was great! And their nigori was pretty good. I recommend coming to the location. I cant wait to go uptown and compare the two.
First time having Ippudo. The ramen noodles was really good! The noodles is chewy makes you want to eat more carbs. Chashu were normal. The soup was actually too salty for me :/ BUT THE HIGHLIGHT was the samurai ribs! Let me tell you, this thing is so good. The meat falls off the bone melts in your mouth plus the balsamic orange sauce goes together with the meat so well. I keep wanting more!!!! It’s true that the best foods here are their appetizers!
Incredible food and experience. worth the wait. put your name in, grab a drink at the bar, or at another bar.pork buns are a must. the octopus appetizer dish is also delightful.the spicy ramen with pork belly, pictured, is my go-to. the other ramens on the menu are all good and worth trying if you go more than once.
Really solid ramen place. The Ippudo buns (pork) are fantastic, I could eat 10 of them. I love their shishito peppers with yuzu citrus salt. Get the Akamaru Modern (pork broth) with the Nitamago egg - at $15, its a steal and its also their most popular ramen and seriously addictive. The Ippudo wings are very good too. Delicious specials (like tempura ebi) and they offer this awesome jelly sake in a can, which is only available occasionally. They had Lady M Green Tea Mille Crepe Cakes on the dessert menu and this is a very good way to top off your meal here. This place is consistently good and I will definitely return - Ive been here about 15 times.I think this is one of the best Ramen places in NYC. Small selection of ramen, large selection of appetizers. All good choices. Love the vibe. Long wait times but worth it. Staff are really professional and knowledgeable.
The wait can be long. But the service is impeccable. My water was never empty. The pork buns are good and the fat really adds to the flavor. Many flavors of ramen. Wasnt a big fan of their special ramen with thick noodles.Typical east village prices.I would say 5 star service when you get a seat. The food is good but know what ramen you want because theres a lot of choices.
Lives up to the hype. 25 min wait on a Thursday night but theres a nice cozy bar with decent cocktails to distract you. The maguro and endives was delicious! The ramen was cooked perfectly. Wish they offered a side of vegetables...but overall great. Dessert looked good but was too full. Service was prompt and attentive.
When everyone on Yelp recommends the Hirata Buns, don’t ignore it! We got the pork ones and the meat was super tender, perfectly flavored and the buns were super soft. Another plate of those and it could have been my meal, but I wanted to try the ramen. For my ramen, I got the Karaka-men (Spicy Tonkotsu) with an egg. The ramen broth was really good. It was light, but had a creamy flavor and a kick of spice (as it describes). The noodles were good as well. I like it when it’s a little softer so I dunk it in the soup for a while. The egg was cooked perfectly, but I wished it was seasoned.Overall, it was good bowl of ramen for a cold day. Try the buns though.
People expect to wait because Ippudo is one of the best ramen places in NYC. I would like to add that I wish the wait staff respected the dining experience especially after average wait times of 1-2 hours. The staff aggressively pressed for an order about five times within a few minutes and didn’t offer to explain the menu either until we asked for recommendations. Didn’t encourage appetizers just pushing for the ramen order so they could get us a check. So disappointing because it takes away from a great ramen!
This place is fantastic! The atmosphere and service is great and the are many small Japanese touches which makes me wonder, am I still in New York? For example your host announces your arrival, that is he loudly says something in Japanese when you enter the main dining area, then he brings you to your table. Theres a variety of booths for groups, or differently shaped large wooden tables. The artwork is distinctly Japanese. The service is tremendous, always present, never obtrusive. Oh and the ramen is flavorful, filling and so delicious. I had the classic with a side of Shigureni - pulled pork. Cant wait to go back to this gem, so gooood hai!
My go-to ramen spot. Service has always been great, and they always shout “Welcome(?)” when you enter the dining area haha. My favorite is the Karaka Men. If you like lots of flavor with a kick to it. I highly recommend it. I really love how the noodle is cooked just right to the point of chewiness. The baos that come as appetizers are also a treat!
This is a wonderful divey spot with groovy music (very discouraging inspired) and dim lighting. A nice after work gathering spot agmonst friends. Make a reservation because the wait is very long. Also, ask for extra protein in your Ramen and an egg on the side. Dont worry if protein isnt your thing, theres a vegetarian side of the menu.
Good... but not great.Wait on a Wednesday, for lunch, was fairly minimal.Service was efficient and friendly.Ippudo Buns: decent, though a tad salty.Akaramu Modern: fairly thin, firm noodles, lots of garlic, broth a little on the rich/fatty side for me.Momofuku was honestly better if youre in NY.If youre in San Jose area, Ramen Nagis better.
The restaurant was pretty lively. The waiters would constantly shout Japanese slogans. The steamed buns with fried chicken was amazing. However the Ramen noodles were under cooked. They were disappointing since that’s what I was craving. The restaurant is a very fancy place and good for large parties. I came alone and they sat me with other people at the table. The wait was a bit long too. Overall lively ambiance but ramen was disappointing.
Gorgeous interior, super friendly and knowledgeable server, and high quality ramen and sake! The ramen portion was quite generous, and you even have the option (for a small, reasonable charge) to add more fresh, hot noodles if you still have broth left and arent already stuffed.
Ive craved ramen every day since visiting this restaurant. The food here is incredible- I went here twice when I visited New York. Ive tried various dishes at this restaurant and theyre all so good! Here are the dishes that Ive tried:-Hirata Pork Buns: These buns are so delicious- some of the best Ive ever had. The pork is melt-in-your-mouth soft. Its tender, juicy, and flavorful. The sauce on the pork perfectly coats it. In addition, the buns are pillow-like. They are incredibly soft and puffy.-Tori Tatsuta-Age: This is the classic chicken karaage dish. If you arent familiar with chicken karaage, its fried chicken thighs drizzled in a siracha mayo sauce. The karaage here is done right. The chicken is so juicy and tender and the sauce is creamy with a kick to it.-Ippudo fries: The fries are are good because they have this unique seasoning on it, but overall, theyre just fries. Nothing special. I wouldnt get them again because I wouldnt want to waste stomach space on them when theres so many other delicious items to eat!-Shiromaru Hakata Classic Ramen: This was the first ramen that I tried at Ippudo. This is definitely classic as it has pretty basic toppings- chasu pork, mushroom, and red ginger (love the red ginger; it adds so much flavor and a nice kick). For all of the ramen, you have to add a soft boiled egg to the ramen for an extra fee of $2 but its so worth. The chasu is tender and cooked well. Also, the broth is incredibly rich and flavorful. Its hearty and flavorful- perfect for a rainy or chilly day!-Akamaru Modern Ramen: I actually enjoyed this ramen more than the classic ramen because it has even more flavor and its a bit spicy. The flavor is a bit different because its topped with a spicy miso paste that complements the broth and noodles so well. I definitely enjoyed this ramen a lot. I would highly recommend this ramen!Overall, Ippudo is a solid place to eat at if youre craving ramen. It will definitely satisfy your ramen craving!
Of all the ramen places I’ve been to, I love the broth and ramen from Ippudo the most. My mom loves the soup so much that I ordered to add extra for her. What I am not crazy about is they charge quite an expensive price for tea, which you get it for free if dining in any Chinese restaurant from Chinatown. Service is okay. We were lucky didn’t wait a long time to get in, knowing this place doesn’t take reservation. Although we waited for quite a while for our food. The chicken wings were delicious!

2022-05-30This was our second time here. The first time was 4-5 years ago. When we had come the first time it was my first time having ramen and I was convinced it was the best in the world. Now coming back - it was delicious but not as good as I remember. Im unsure if there are different owners or chefs but the portions seemed smaller (possibly due to covid?)We got the pork bao buns and we both got theStill an amazing ramen place especially if you live in an area where the ramen sucks (I have 2 local ramen places that are awful but drive about an hr to get good ramen). The food was very good and the water was constantly refilled which was great on such a hot day.

2022-04-12I love these restaurants. They always make such consistently good food. Forgot to take a photo of the miso ramen, but that’s what I had. The wings are a must get. And the sake list was excellent. The steam buns - yum. Cocktails were good too!

2022-07-04Amazing vibe. This place welcomed my party and I with a warm greeting and the front of the house staff made sure to keep that warmth going throughout our dining experience. We got the three different vegetarian ramen options and they were all really good. I’d personally recommend the spicy option. Very simple ramen, not to cocky, very delicious, perhaps too simple for my taste tho. I’d like to come and try the tonkotsu, as that is my go-to.

2022-03-30Ok the Ramon was outstanding. We had a hard time understanding the server but more importantly there is no way to make a reservation so unless you come on a slow night getting a table will include waiting a long time. Ah, that salad was not good, we had to send it back.

2022-03-28If possible 4.8, but 5 stars felt better than 4.Maybe top 3 ramen. I really liked the broth. Ordered pork bun & Yokohama Tonkotsu. Also drank a delicious mango cocktail. Not sure where the 1 stars are coming from, I loved the ambiance. The ladies bathroom was a great experience. Arrived around 5 and got seated right away.I loveee bao buns. The dough was beautiful, but mayo in a bao bun. Eh. Not a fan. 3.5The drink was fire. It came with a dried mango which was soo good. Felt a bit tipsy after one tbh.Ramen was good. I really liked the broth because it wasn’t very salty. Wish the egg was a bit more runny but the combination of flavors was on point. I’ve never had pork pastrami before and it was a unique taste for me. I should have gotten the pork belly instead, but overall good ramen. Would definitely come again & recommend.

2022-03-04I stopped by last night and it was fantastic, maybe above expectations...I sat at the counter where I could see the chefs in action. Friendly and courteous wait staff. I had pork and chicken buns, completed by a majestic spicy shrimp tempura roll. I ate at 2 Ippudo locations in London but Ippudo NY is just from a different league. Definitely a win!

2022-01-24Ive been here several times and its always a home run. Fast service, nice people and good food. Sometimes can have a bit of a long wait, but thats what happens when you go to a really good restaurant around dinner time - everyone else wants some too!

2022-03-30Excellent, excellent ramen! I tried the (vegan) nirvana akamaru ramen with a spinach topping. The broth was extremely flavorful, and made for a fulfilling meal. Also, dont miss the bao buns! The veggie bun was crunchy, salty-sweet heaven - one could have about five consecutively, out of pure gluttony.

2021-12-18Ive had my very first Ippudo experience in Manila years ago and was looking forward to my very first here in New York. Akamaru Shinaji (personal fave) was on the menu but I found it a bit surprising that customers cant choose the firmness of their noodles. Not sure if you can request for your noodles to be softer or extra fim but it wasnt explicitly mentioned on the menu. Overall, good ambiance, tasty tonkotsu, lots of items on the menu.Make sure to have your masks handy. The establishment checks your vax records + identification to let you dine in.
