Irving Farm New York in other cities:
Some of the best coffee around. They weigh their water and ingedients to ensure the perfect brew and the baristas are so knowledgeable about their beans. I almost always use milk and sugar, but the iced coffee was so good I just had to enjoy it black. They also had a nice seating area in the back and plenty of seats.
Good Brewed coffee but not awesome.I had the 71 blend conventionally brewed with some soy milk.Worth the trip down the half flight of stairs.Cool and hip inside - looks like a good place to chill and laptop or have a quiet conversation with a friend. Also has a food menu.
Nice place. Saw in some reviews that it can be crowded or hard to find seats but it was very chill when I came on a Friday late afternoon. They have oat milk that is good. The barista was skilled which I appreciated. I got avocado toast and it was great. A LOT of avocado 👌🏻.
I got a latte and a chocolate croissant to go from here. Overall I found both to taste fine, and the prices were comparable. At the same time, there wasnt anything here to make it stand out. There is a dine-in brunch option that I could go with in the future that might be better.
Coffee was fine. At 9:30am on a Sunday the cafe was absolutely filthy though - no hand sanitiser, no soap in the bathroom, disgusting toilet state, dirty floors. Didn’t look like anyone had cleaned the night before and for a supposedly premium shop totally unacceptable. Don’t think we’ll be going back.
This coffee shop was given five stars. The entire team is still willing to help you. I was still impressed by their coffees, dinners, and utilities. This spot immediately puts you at ease and helps you feel at home. The decor is unique, and its an excellent location for an Instagram snap. Highly suggested!
The coffee is nice tasting but without being upfront on extra costs they basically double charged me ($8) just because i ordered a half caf americano with oat milk! No other cafe does this? For no wifi and slow service dont think its worth it. The meals are ok/decent from memory and they have vegetarian/gluten free options
Youre the best of the rest! What I like about your coffee shop is that you just have a taste of me when it comes to coffee and pastries. Its not that good, and its great. You deserve to be at the top of the list, guys! You want me to recommend your shop to all my colleagues. Yeah, thank you so much, guys!
I went for TooGoodToGo. I was so excited cuz I loved coming to that cafe for coffee. When I bought the surprise bag it said that it’s supposed to be a meal. They gave me stale pastry. When I told the cashier, he made a rude comment and I heard him swear. So, not a “meal,” stale food, and rudeness.
Great coffee and very nice shop. Their staff are very attentive and helpful if you have a question about their coffee. The Brazilian cheese bread is a must, I wish theyd warm it up but cold or room temperature is still excellent. Several locations around the city but this one is very nice with a lot of seating available.
IN general great coffee place 8/10. The whole coffee section is really recommended. They put effort in their coffee and for the US is really good one and recommended (hard to find good coffee).Staff is nice and helpful, not patronizing as NYC and very helpful. As for the pastries, I guess pretty good for U.S standard but for middle Eastern or European standards is pretty bad. Dry dough, not heated even when asked ( kitchen closed) and in general can do so much better in this matter.I would recommend for coffee and glass of water soda.
90% of the time Ive been here its been very busy. The coffee is organic and really smooth. I wish they had hemp milk but for vegans they have an option of soy or oat milk. Breakfast is great, sandwiches are fresh and delicious. Space is pretty small so I rarely sit to eat. Recommend trying it!
Excellent. The cafe is lower than street level, hence it can be hard to find. It goes back a long way, with lots of seats but not a lot of space. I had an Ethiopian Coffee prepared on a Kalita Wave, which was lovely. Very well made, with clear flavour notes and a good body - a very balanced brew. Price was a dollar more than Blue Bottle but it was very well prepared! Staff are pretty friendly, even when busy. Excellent, highly recommended!
I have come here for brunch on occasion. If you come on weekends, it will be busy. Table turnover is pretty quick, so if you wait long enough, youll get one. Coffee and food are good, but nothing crazy special. Service is quick. Youre definitely paying for the environment, which is cozy and cute. Bathrooms are generally clean. Id recommend if you arent in a rush. I wouldnt come here if you are looking to study, as it is busy and loud.
Glad that we stopped by for a quick caffeine fix. Great coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. (If the tables in the front are taken, look in the back.) We had just eaten so it was hard to resist the pastries because they all looked so good... And the food from the kitchen smells tasty. We are definitely going back for breakfast.
First time Ive been here in a little while. Coffee, tea are fantastic. Pastries and bagels, also great. Best of all, staff behind the counter are just so sweet and helpful. Definitely will come back here again and again, and its right near the 79th Street, # 1 station. Definitely worth the trip. Take it from Jan, terrific place to stop for coffee and a nosh or lunch too.
Decently strong cold brew, on the expensive side. Great looking baked goods display but insanely overpriced, although I decided to splurge on a blueberry thyme donut. The frosting was tasty, the cake was a bit dry but maybe that was because it was pretty late in the day. It sort of tasted like a blueberry muffin. Lots of cool donuts and breads. A bunch of food options with average prices avocado toast. The seating in the back has a skylight but no windows. One restroom. Little patio out front with a few tables. Weirdly they dont put the milk out for people to add themselves, instead adding it for you, which just seems a little controlling, although not really a big problem. The staff is friendly and helpful answering questions about various items, including the cola cold brew.
An authentic New York coffee house.Professional staff and incredibly talented Baristas. It is interesting that there are so many people sitting around with their laptops, tablets, and phones while several customers were standing with coffee and food at hand waiting for a table. There seems to be no limit as to how long you can sit there. If I didnt have to wait so long for a table I would have given this place 5 stars. Yes, the coffee is that good!
I’m actually shocked by the service in this place. Absolutely rude. Not only to me but everyone else that came in when I was there. This was my third time (and last) giving this place a chance and all 3 times the barrista/cashier has been nasty. The coffee isn’t that good to have to take someone’s nasty attitude.
Food was horrible. We ordered the Roast Beef Sandwich which was extremely cold and dry, and a Quinoa Bowl which lacked dressing. I asked for more dressing and they told me that each bowl comes with a designated dressing cup size (miniature) so I couldn’t have more. We also ordered the Hibiscus Iced Tea and she literally poured them out of an old plastic jar. Will not come back again.
Good coffee and friendly staff. The lay out for ordering is a little strange: you walk to the far end of the bar to order and then come back to the front to pick up your drink. The passage to get to the cash register where you order is very narrow, so you sort of have to fight against the line to get your drink and leave the cafe. For that reason, as well as its general popularity, there is usually a pretty long line. No wifi, but plenty of people still like to come here and work.
I stayed in the Upper West Side during a recent trip, and I stopped by IF several times. I wanted to branch out and experience something different than my normal Starbucks routine. This coffee shop was lovely. Very friendly employees, a nice environment, and great coffee! They did get my order wrong a couple times though, so no 5 stars.
Almost always crowded with a long line and difficult to find seats, but the coffee is super and the food is also great - perfect spot for a breakfast sandwich (the egg and avocado on a croissant is great, the pastries are from local bakeries, gluten free and vegan options available), and service is fast - no table service which keeps it more affordable than a brunch spot. Baristas are all super nice. Less crowded on weekday evenings.
Irving Farm has the best coffee on the UWS. Also, they have Oat Milk which nobody else serves and it is AMAZING. Best drink is iced latte with Oat Milk and a touch of their homemade chocolate. Their food is always fresh, healthy and delicious. Best place for local informal business meetings and catch ups with friends!
Ive been here twice in the last two months. The first time was during a weekday and the queue was around 7 people, coffee took around 15 mins to be ready which was a bit longer than we expected. It was decent coffee though. The muffin we ordered was a bit dry unfortunately.Second time around was 11am on a Saturday - more fool us! The queue was about 12 people long but coffee took well over 20 mins to be ready. You have to order and then push through the queue to get your coffee which is a little odd. The coffee was far too hot and unfortunately the coffee wasnt great. Not worth the wait. The butterscotch brownie we had was very tasty.Overall, I would recommend going if its a quiet time, but not in the weekend and not if youre a complete coffee snob!
This guys know how to make good coffee of course they have great beans ☕️☕️☕️Iced latte is great for summer, great balance in flavors. 😊 food is delicious, to start the day I recommend the granola because is really good!Prices in food, are like in restaurants...$10-20s for sandwiches??Anyways its cool, cool environment. Sometimes nosy and crowded.Must go!
This is a nice cafe with sandwiches, salad and of course good delicious coffee. I got a nice cup of Red Eye and it is strong. I sure woke up from my Sunday brunch from across the street! It is much better than Starbucks. I wish I ordered the drip coffee. I guess I will have to come back next time to try that instead!
I am a regular here. It is a successful local cafe due to its european style coffee, tasty food options, efficient service and the appealing physical space. However today I saw another side and felt disappointed. There was a line out to the door of people ordering food and drink. I was not ordering anything but just grabbing a bag of their coffee beans. I asked politely if I could just give the cash and pay. It was a quick and easy process. The manner in which the server dealt with the request was both rude and officious. I havent experienced this before at this cafe and hope that in writing this, there may be a chance that there is a reflection on ways to improve customer service.
Just in case Irving Farm coffee wasnt good enough on its own, this shop offers an extravaganza of coffee, tea, smoothies, wine, beer and food options. Further, this one-stop-shop cafe with has plenty of seating and a welcoming ambiance perfect for a study getaway or a friendly coffee date. 4/5 only because the selection is a bit too large for my tastes. Regardless, an excellent UWS coffee destination!
Cappuccino was so good, Im still feeling it, also very pretty. Good place to catch up with a friend or do some work. Baked goods are on the higher end ($4.50 for a muffin, $4.95 for a vegan granola square). No wifi unfortunately, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. Also careful sitting too long in the cafe, the smell of food lingered on my sweater.
Good coffee lots of options for food made to order and muffins to snack bars even a few vegan and gluten free snacks to the staples bagels. Nice selection of assorted bites . Mid to expensive. The major problem with this place is the line . Most times in the weekend the line can go all the way out the door making waith time for a cup of coffee more that 30 mins .
This coffee shop is always very busy, but they have a lot of tables so its possible to find a seat. Its a great place to work, as long as you dont need WiFi. The drinks and food are great - they serve everything from muffins and poptarts to sandwiches and salads - and the staff are always friendly.
This place is overpriced and offers NO WIFI. I got the SRAM (scrambled eggs sandwich) and had to pay extra for croissant (which was very small) and to add bacon (which was BURNT and extremely dry). It seems like a popular place for coffee but I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO EAT OR STAY. Their tables are tiny and its crowded, did I mention no WIFI?!
Vibe and seating is good, drinks are decent, menu is a bit overpriced, and employees have low customer service. For example, I asked for low ice in my drink, and the barista told me he just wouldn’t give me any since the iced tea has been refrigerated. I said OK since that seemed reasonable. But the container of ice tea had been sitting on the counter and was warm when I got it. I went back later to ask for some ice and the barista put a couple cubes in my bottle and said, “here’s all I really care to do,” when giving it back to me. Seemed unnecessarily rude and lazy. One would expect more for a drink that costs nearly $5.
I definitely like this spot, which is always crowded. I wish the line was better arranged so you dont have to go back through the line to get your drink after you order. This is just one of those things one has to deal with in this city. Irving is great coffee though.
Down to earth unpretentious coffee shop. Breakfast menu offers tasty breakfast sandwiches. The coffee here is a premium offering although it doesnt meet my palette for dark roast single origin espresso. Was unhappy with the salad which accompanied breakfast because it was all wilted salad greens. Ventilation is also a problem as the smoke from the grill fills up in and i left smelling like bacon grease.
Get the rosewater shortbread cookies at the front!!!!!! Best cookies in the world. IF you like rose flavored things, that is. I LOVE their coffee and the back wall. Great place to sip coffee, read, do work, catch up with a good friend. Also might run into some awkward first date conversations next to you.
Best tasting coffee we found in NYC. However, they need to overhaul their layout! Absolute shambles, people lining up where the coffees are served, orders are announced by type of coffee rather than names - so anyone can pick up anyones order if you ordered the same thing. Just move the coffee machine to the back of the store! It was the same experience in the East Village store.
Such a pleasure coming here! I come from the East Side because their menu is different and Im obsessed with the ham and gruyere croissant sandwich. Staff is always so kind and accommodating. Yes, pricy, but its a total treat and Im always greeted with smiles and courtesy.
My favorite place to work/study in the Upper West Side area. Seating is a little tight, but Irving Farm makes up for that with great coffee, some really nice salad and sandwich options. Thry also remain open till 10 p.m. The place is usually crowded during the day: service can be slow and finding a place difficult because of the rush! Either go early or in the evening.
NO WIFI. I was told there no WiFi here when I arrived. Desperately needed WiFi to book a place to sleep for the night. Seems absurd for a cafe to not have WiFi in this day and age. Also the outlets weren’t working, had to go to the T-Mobile nearby to charge my devices.
The UWS is experiencing a café revival these days, and Irving Farm is one of the best things to come out of this particular boom. It has almost everything a café needs to be the best: ample space with plenty of nooks and crannies, comfortable seating, good light, tasty food, good drinks, and decent prices. The only thing its missing is Wi-Fi, but even thats not such a big deal. Sometimes you need a place to get away from the Internets. The well-designed space is my favorite part. Theres a front area for people whore just dropping in, a back area for people who intend to settle for a bit, and even a little hidden nook for people who dont want to be bothered with others yet still want to soak up the atmosphere. The chairs are okay for sitting in at long stretches, but grab one of the couchy seats along the wall if you can. There are some outlets, but the ones in the back are tucked under the couch things and you have to practically get on your hands and knees to see or reach them. Though theres no WiFi they seem friendly to the laptop crowd.Ive tried several drinks and so far Im a fan. The chai is a bit too spicy for me but will likely please people who crave real chai and not the faux chai most places serve now. (I admit my love for faux chai.)The food Ive had so far is also really good. The prices are a bit high, but this is the UWS were talking about. Gotta pay the rent somehow. The portions are good, at least. Especially the salads. The staff is always speedy and pleasant and seem to enjoy their jobs.Oh, and the bathroom is big and so far) very clean. While I will probably not cheat on Vagabond Café downtown too much with this place, its likely to become my regular Monday haunt. Or where I go when I have no self control yet need to stay off of Twitter.
Serving up great tasting coffee along with simple sandwiches and pastries, this is one of the best cafes in the UWS. The staff is really helpful and friendly, and many things seem to be homemade with fresh and local ingredients, including the biscuits for egg sandwiches and even the chocolate that goes into the mocha. Unlike most of the other cafes in the UWS which tend to be part of a chain, this has a more local and small town feel. No WiFi available, and poor cell reception if youre on AT&T/T-Mobile, but that makes it easier to get a table to read or chat at. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is the lack of WiFi and the selection of somewhat utilitarian table/chairs, itd be nice if there were a couch or more comfortable chairs to sit and read at.
Great coffee and shop overall. Irving Farms is a blessing. But it falls just short of five stars. In particular, the shops prepackaged whole beans are often a month or so old, which is a shame. If you arrive late on a Friday, there is a better chance of getting a fresh bag.
I actually feel bad when I leave this place. The service here is so sad. -painfully long line, rude barista, and impersonal service. The last time I went in, I swore I would never go in again, but I did. I just wanted to slap myself all over again . MILLE FEUILLE is 1000 times better.. coffee is great there, and they remember their regular customers orders. They always greet me with a smile. Joes is good too. Thank God for choices so I can leave this dysfunctional relationship behind!
This place was crowded and obviously good too many customers. My experience was average since the cashier was rude when I asked how I would be getting my drink and food. Since I was not given a number and my name was not taken. Drinks are just served at the bar and people have to probably guess which one is theirs.
My go-to and refer-to place. Great coffee, great eggs (and chorizo) on cheddar biscuit, and great ambiance. Its what the UWS needs. Large enough that you can usually find a table.Update 2/26/17: on a Sunday, you are out of luck if you show up after about Noon. No tables, and the only seat may be he cushioned bench outside the kitchen in the hall. Also, Verizon signal doesnt reach past cashier. Am being literal, not metaphorical or ironic.
First and foremost, this us a great third wave coffee establishment. They roast their own beans and source from Honduras, El Salvador, Ethiopia, and other parts of the world. The experience at this local cafe is complete with friendly baristas, local flavor, beer, wine, and a good variety of sandwiches and pastries to compliment your jaza. The bad news? No WiFi.
I feel compelled to state the situation atrocious service here. Sunday morning service is horrible. The women who puts in the order has no idea what she is doing and continually messes up the orders. I came in at 830 in the morning and only got my order which was a bagel with eggs at 910. Left with no apology. Never coming back
Based on the look of this cafe I thought it would be the perfect place to sit with a cup of coffee and work for a few hours but to my dismay, after pay $5 for a cup of coffee and finding a tiny table to sit I discovered that there was no wifi. Needless to say- I will not be coming back.
I walked in and waited patiently for a small coffee my first time so I had a lot of questions to make sure I was paying all this money for a nice hot drink as I cleared my mind they were very rude I left my 8.00 cup of undrunk coffee sitting on the table as I asked the lady for half in half she replied do you see any out 😩

2022-01-28Really good coffee. Food is pretty similar to Starbucks. Big, cool space with lots of seating - almost like if WeWork had a coffee shop. Pricing was the same as any other high-end coffee shop in the city. Only complaint is that there’s no Wi-Fi. 5 stars if you bring your own hot spot though.

2022-05-29Smooth and delicious coffee! I absolutely love this place! I just can’t get enough of this coffee! Super addicted!I am not sure what is all involved with the coffee bean roasting process, but the coffee is so smooth and silky, especially with oat milk and honey. It all sounds mundane, but the coffee is different. So good!

2021-11-02Alright I’m struggling here. I paid $5.44 for a small drip coffee with steamed oat milk. They charged extra for the oat milk and the steaming of the milk, and by extra, I mean almost double the price of a plain small drip coffee. I struggle with that. I also was a bit turned off with the requirement of no dogs. I wonder why- and I wonder if they have a reason for this rule- but that was difficult, as I have a small Pomeranian and felt like I didn’t belong there with her and went to go wait outside until my drink was ready. I also didn’t have a particularly enjoyable experience with the person at the register. The drink itself was really good. I really enjoyed my coffee with steamed oat milk but not sure if I want to come back. For all of this, I give it a three. I wonder if I would give it a 2 had the drink be sub par.If I came back, it would be to see if I have a better experience with the person at the register and to try some of their vegan offerings like the vegan chocolate chip cookie and/or the breakfast burrito.

2022-03-26We sat outside with our 2 almond milk lattes. The coffees were delicious - as always here. Service was fast and friendly. I would give five stars 🌟 if it werent for the extra $ each for almond milk.

2021-11-07We came here to try their coffees. Long line and the coffee was decent. Ordered a latte to go.

2022-04-03This place is decently priced, and has a bigger room in the back with seating. I thought the coffee a refreshingly different from Starbucks and the pumpkin bread was really moist and flavorful. Would go here again

2022-06-30It’s a very nice place, the coffee is good and the people are nice. But the lack of wifi makes it a place I cannot go to regularly. I wish they would change that, it seems intentional for them not to offer wifi. I would come at least once a week if it was the case, for now I have to find another place to go to unfortunately and I suspect based on the other reviews that it is the case for a lot of other people.

2022-06-19Used to be my go-to for coffee when in NYC but it seems to have gone downhill. Stopped by today and the vibes were BAD - no music, a bagel that came out of the freezer and served burnt, cold coffee, all of the tables dirty, floor hadn’t been swept. Sad to see, hope they get better!
