I went to go see Starset on 12/4/21, and was apprehensive about getting ADA accommodation for my disability. I was thoroughly impressed! The venue is gorgeous, the staff were incredibly helpful and supportive (Oscar and Liz were absolutely fab working with me, Brandon (hope I got his name right) was super friendly and helpful escorting us to the handicap section, Mike and Cesar were fantastic and friendly when they relocated me for the post-show signing). I am definitely excited to come here for more shows in the future!
Its a 4 star venue with a 5 star coating of new paint.Good luck seeing anything if youre under 57. (Im 510, gf is 55. I saw the whole show, she saw very little). Place could really benefit from a sloped floor. The renovations make the places seem a whole lot nicer though, and they appear to have removed like...one of the smaller walls to help open the views up. But the sight lines are still sub par compared to Webster Hall. Def would rather come here than T5 any day though.Yes, PBR/Tecate is $15 a can, BUT its a 24oz can. So really...youre paying for a couple drinks at once, so its not INCREDIBLY outrageous for a NYC concert venue.Saw Jesse McCartney with the gf—got there at 7:15 (doors were at 6:00) and the line was wrapping around the block. Moved along quickly though, probably 15 minutes to get inside. VERY thorough pat down...the most thorough either of us have ever had.Bathrooms and bar directly in front once you enter. Stairs to the stage directly to the right, Merch directly to the left.
A really cool venue with general admission and a VIP balcony. It allows you to get pretty close to the artists in a pretty intimate space. The drinks cost like $15, but the bathrooms were clean. There is a lounge area downstairs that looked cool and there are TVs around the first floor so you still see what is going on at the stage even if you go downstairs for the bathroom or the second bar.
Got to the show a half hour early. Ended up waiting 45 minutes only to get frisked and searched before entering. This place should have enough money to get metal detectors or wands to speed up the process and not harass concert attendees. I was told I could not bring a Luna Bar into the venue. Are you serious? I said I needed it when I take my medication so I dont get nauseous. I travel on planes frequently and these girls are not trained to properly pat down people. I dont know what the men went through. I felt attacked, demeaned and needlessly abused through the whole process. I understand looking for bottles and weapons, but squeezing me everywhere on my body and taking away a harmless snack?!!! That is totally uncalled for. Of course I will never go back. Gone are the glory days of the 80s and 90s when I frequented this club.
I was in NYC over the weekend celebrating my friends birthday and wanted to celebrate and dance. We decided to attended the Reggae vs Soca event on Saturday, March 12, 2022. It was a GOOD time!!! The music was pumping, there was plenty of room to dance and the drinks were super tasty. I would definitely visit this venue again when I am in town. 🙂🍸💃🏿
I have been to this concert venue a few times now, as they keep hosting artists that I like. The place feels deceptively big, as once you get inside it feels rather small. The back of the hall, on the second floor, is a bar with a good selection of drinks and friendly staff. Generally anyone who is here is going to have to stand for a few hours.
Im definitely a huge fan of live music and love checking out brand new venues.Today was my first time at Irving plaza to see one of my favorite singers and after wanting to get a friend home safely into an Uber, even after purchasing two tickets. Not even a notice if i stepped outside. I was told i could come back just as they got in the car without any trouble but i was denied. Not a fun experience
Woah! Irving is fresh and clean again baby! Irving is a whole new experience now!I went expecting the old Irving, falling down around my ears. I found a refreshed venue, ready for a higher caliber of shows. I found functional coat checks, a series of open bars without lines, and a professional staff. They did decrease the size of the upstairs VIP balcony, and worse they did add a balcony section that should NOT be sold as premium, as its off to the side and has no direct views at all. They over sell it so some folks cant see anything if they remain in this section. We just joined GA instead, but it was disappointing thinking we had balcony tickets and learning it was the side section and no the front risers.Still, such an improved venue we had a great time anyway. It didnt even feel so crowded.
Sadly Irving Plaza has very irregular practices for admission I had to sell 2 sets of tickets for shows over the last week. As now for certain shows they still have a vaccine mandate with no testing option so buyer beware. I enjoyed many shows there in the past but not anymore we should not be implementing our own requirements at venues that dont accommodate those with medical exemptions or those recently recovered.
Paid for Sleepy Hallow concert on 12/13/21. Waited an hour in venue before they said shows canceled. It is 2/3/22 and I still have not received my money back. They even called me back a few weeks ago to assure me I would see it issued in a few days, since it wouldnt take more than 30 days for a refund to be processed. That was a lie.
Nice small music venue but I have to agree with some of the other reviewers because my experience was exactly the same. There staff are on a power trip and one lady was just way too aggressive. She hassles people. It’s her MO. She hassled me and my family for standing on the public sidewalk, hassled another member of our group inside and I watched her as I left throw a poor kid pleading his case to stay. Down right nasty. I tried to get her name before I left but her colleagues were all in cahoots. I hope this infection doesn’t ruin this nice venue.
Venue is great, speakers, lights, ac, etc. but best thing about Irving plaza? Luis is the best, hands down makes the Irving plaza a better and safer business single handedly. If I ever need security for any event or venue, I’m going to ask him, as he’s the best security guard and worker I’ve ever met.
The security is very disrespectful. I asked for a set list, waited a bit, while I looked up my Uber. As I was on my phone the security demands I leave, I told her hold on. The female security threaten to slap me because I don’t antes to wait for my uber. Security will literally threaten to to hit you, throw you on the streets of nyc just so they can go home. I paid $$$ to a show. Disgusting place. I wouldn’t come here again. This is a warning to warning to other females.
Before you walk in you get patted down And the men are disgusting and creepy too touchy and then all my drinks without asking was poured out unsatisfied and bartenders all were rude I left the venue not seeing one artist I was not staying miserable there terrible treatment i’ve been to many concerts before and I can honestly say this is the worst experience I’ve ever had very disappointing I hope not one artist I listen to goes here ag not even PoorStacy showed up
Still the best live music venue in NYC. Good sight lines, small and intimate and great sound. Been to several dozen shows here over the years. Favorite spot to hang is upstairs in the back, even though they now charge you VIP access for that. Pics below are from the Celebrating David Bowie show in Feb 2018.
The venue gets pretty crowded very quickly, the long lines outside will be your first clue. Keep in mind that this is a STANDING ROOM ONLY venue so be prepared to be packed in like a sardine with people super close to each other. The best place to be in is more towards the front middle so you can see, hear, and enjoy the performance without feeling like you will lose your hearing. Drinks are overpriced as with almost all event venues but on the plus side there are some neat restaurant bars in the area that you can check out before or after the show.
This is a standing room only venue, and because of that the performances are very intimate. Just be wary that you will need to stretch out for a bit, or just continue moving, which is kind of hard when the place is packed. Food is expensive, but that is expected. Bathrooms are clean, and that is always good. I wouldnt mind returning for another concert in the future.
Great small venue for music. Not a bad spot in the place since its so small. You feel really close to the stage and the band. Gritty vibe throughout; perfect for such a venue. Cool lighting. Good acoustics - not overpowering for the size. Of course, no seats - all standing, as expected in such a place.
Preferred balcony area is a rip off, dont spend the extra money. Spent 40 dollars more per ticket! for better less crowded view and could not see stage because of so many people in that small area. Watched show from floor which was fine. Dont fall for this scam. Otherwise venue was good.
I was here for Tobe Nwigwes concert. The venue was perfect for the performance. There were times when the security staff could have been better, particularly in the beginning while trying to form/control lines by ticket types. However, I learned and observed that it was due to a lack of communication. Everyone felt safe throughout, that was never in question.
Top notch! The entire facility was clean, modern and the staff was amazing through the entire evening. Several parking lots near by if needed. The lounge area downstairs is awesome, the bar in the main venue was well stocked and the drinks were great. I hope to come back again.
Went for emo night and had a good time. The venue was spacious and there are 2 bars one upstairs and another downstairs. My only issue was with security. They took my friends e-cig and told her she had to throw it out. Nowhere in the venue rules or policy did it say that they are prohibited. E-cigs are a very common thing so if they arent allowed people should know before hand. If its even an actual policy.
Went here to see The Milky Way Tour 🥛 by Bas. It was a dope show. Cool venue for hip hop. 2 bars, one downstairs and 1 upstairs. $12 for a barcardi and coke. Coat check cost $4. Only 2 lines and it got so long people had to wait outside to get there jackets. Not me, skip the line nobodys gonna say nothing.
First time attending this venue and the experience was phenomenal. The show put on by Andrew McMahon and friends was of top quality. The facility seemed to be decently up kept. The sound quality though..... 👌🏻crystal clear and just the right volume. In the middle of the show someone was having health issues and the staff handled it very well. After the show they were even kind enough to get us some water while cleaning up.
Ive seen a lot of great bands play here. Most recently was Turnstile. The sound in this place is always amazing. I’ve never gone here and walked away feeling cheated. The outdoor smoking area is super small. And the line is usually around the corner. They don’t charge for water…
A great venue that has withstood the passing years. Simply a great place to catch a show now as it was in 1995. Irving Plaza will leave your ears ringing as the sound system is absolutely fantastic. The downstairs bar offers a getaway from the show should you need a break from the action. A definite must if offering an act you enjoy. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
Great space from the sound to the super nice staff! In an easy to get to and nice area as well. Not a fan of the artists they tend to book though as it seems they focus on the younger under 18/16 crowd and also once semi-popular artists who now are trying to make comebacks. Targeting this younger crowds musical taste has created a more under 21 friendly venue - and that sounds great in theory except the result is most bands play more dulled down sets to accommodate, the bands start and end early but never late (one of the 2 I get maybe? but to do both is frustrating..)Overall - its really a great venue for under 21 (where was this when I was that age?!) Theres never any surprises on how good the show and overall concert will be, which is slightly above average but not amazing or absolutely great. You always know what youll be getting here when you ckme see a show, down to almost each detail, which is rare at venues because usually a band and their crowd can change a place each night. At irving plaza, its always pleasant and a good show. Nice size and in addition to the floor seating, the upstairs has great views arranged so more people are able to watch the stage easily. Never had any issues with staff as theyre professionals and very nice/friendly/helpful. They are way less tolerant as a venue overall about nearly anything which makes sense however they at least are able to do so respectfully and in a polite way to concertgoers. Essentially they stop any nonsense before it begins (or evolves into a giant fight or something between drunk people that ruins everyones time) and in doing this and preventing larger incidents - they do come across as a stricter and more rules Than most venues.
Amazing experience seeing Billie Eilish with my teenage girls! Have to admit I was a little worried about seeing a concert at Irving Plaza with my 2 14 yr old girls, but we felt very safe - no chaos and the venue kept things very much under control and not overcrowded. We arrived a bit later than we’d hoped & the line was already around the corner from the entrance. Luckily we were in the right place at the right time as there was a venue salesperson offering upgrades to a “fast pass-style” ticket for $50 (per ticket) which included a drink and awesome view from a raised platform on the side of the room. Worth every penny so if you arrive to find a monster line keep your eyes open for a venue employee selling upgrades!
This music venue located near Union Square is pretty convenient. Parking garages are located close to this venue. They scan your printed tickets. 16oz beers for $9. Three bars. Balcony area. And standing room only.I enjoyed the music, staff is friendly/ hopeful. I will definitely come back for future concerts.
Went to an Andy Mineo concert here and it was off the chain amazing! Had an incredible time, if there was another performer going here, I would most likely go. The only thing was security was exceedingly tight, which is good for safety, but it did make things very difficult for my friends and I. My only complaint and it’s a little thing.
Terrible acoustics and fast lane service is a waste. Makes you wait with the same group anyways once you’re in the building. Awfully organized and then complains about people pushing when they set it up that way. 2 stars for tom odell but 0 for the venue. I’ve sold my tickets to any concerts i had with this place.
I would give it five stars, because the atmosphere was great and it was easy to find, but the staff absolutely sucked. I was here on Sunday May 20th for the Miyavi concert with my best friend. We arrived a few minutes late for early access (we got VIP tickets), due to traffic. When we let someone up front know, they sent us to the BACK OF THE LINE. During security check, they were yelling at people, and had us separated into lines for males and females, I suppose to avoid sexual harassment. The woman who was checking me spoke rudely to me, telling me to move away from the door. She honestly looked and sounded like she did not want to be there, or as though I ruined hee day. After the concert, staff asked us if we had VIP bracelets for the Meet & Greet session, to which we responded no but proved we had VIP tickets. Someone promised us theyd be back with our bracelets. Fast forward almost 20 minutes later, and they never came back. I approached another staff member pissed off at this point, and told him what happened, from start to finish. He seeked out someone else, which happened to be the lady who was supposed to come back with our bracelets. She told my best friend and I that they had run out of bracelets but to keep the VIP tickets on hand. Are you kidding me? If a venue knows how many people have paid for VIP, shouldnt they keep those on hand? Not even five minutes later passed, when the same lady approaches with the VIP bracelets. They suddenly, magically had bracelets. Overall, our time there was mediocre at best. Staff is absolutely the worst. The only staff member who was kind was the gentleman at the door for the meet & greet.
I havent been there since the 1980s but it was one of the best places to go to. Then in 1988 or 89 it became Crazy Eddies hip hop club for a while. That was off the chart Dynamite fun. Met LL Cool j in there , the rap group 3rd Bass, and Russell Simmons. Fun times, fun days.
Attending the amazing Michael Schenker Fest Concert here at Irving Plaza including a meet a greet and sound check before the show is going to be forever etched in my mind as one of the greatest times ever for me. The staff was awesome handling a sold out show and the sound quality handling the four soaring vocalists and searing guitar licks, heavy bass, drums and keyboards were top notch as well.Thank You Michael Schenker, Despyre and Iving Plaza for making this happen here in Beautiful New York City 🤘🎸
Remodeled!Definitely not the Irving Plaza of days long gone. It has changed along with the tide of show goers.Pros:-Great sound-Clean and clean bathrooms-No wait for beverages at either bar-Friendly staff-Follow strict Covid protocols for safetyCons:-Expensive beverages-No place to sit inside show area with General Admission. This was a pain, for me, due to an illness I have. Sometimes it’s hard for me to stand for long periods (hard to predict when it will happen). I asked security if I could sit some place and the guy gave me a stool in the downstairs lounge where the show could not be seen or heard. Also, I walked away from that stool anyone could sit there.-Parking included puts you on a time crunch as you have to retrieve your car by 11:55 pm or get it at 7:00 am
Great venue, cranking air conditioning, cold but expensive beers, security was nice & accommodating for my non visible disabilities (I was taken to 3rd floor so I could sit too) Madball was awesome as always, love my NYHC community!!! Thanks for hosting this important show! Cant wait to come back!
I have been to this venue twice now for two concerts. The staff are friendly and very helpful. When you do go to a concert at this venue and its for a well known artist make sure you get there VERY early. No matter how late the show actually is there will be a lot of people on line. Also the set up for this venue is interesting because it has a floor level but then also a balcony which you have to purchase either an upgrade or a specific ticket to get up there. Very confusing but I have been on the balcony both times and it was a lot better than standing in the crowded and tight space on the floor.
The venue is on the smaller side, but they host a variety of shows. Theres a balcony area which is usually reserved for VIP ticket holders that overlooks the main standing floor. The acoustics are also pretty decent. Ive seen two different shows here, one was a metal show and the other involved a trumpet and lots of horns, both bands sounded really good and I could clearly see them from multiple spots in the standing room area. Besides the usual overpriced drinks, no complaints here.
Pretty small venue for 1,000 people, which I enjoy. Coat check line can get really long so if you need to leave quick get in line a few songs before the show ends. Good sound. Space between the barricade and the stage is small, which I like. Allows artists to go into the crowd easily and interact. Balcony area gives a good view if you’re not about being in the pit.
Fun venue, but the wand plus pat-down for everyone at the street is a turn-off for sure. Be prepared to entirely empty all your pockets...well unless youre a woman. Then they glance in your purse and in you go.The upper level (generally VIP) has nice views, but GA tickets for the floor arent as great if youre not up front.Good sound, typical pricey drinks, mediocre snacks. Just what youd expect from a music venue :)If you found this review helpful, please thumbs-up :)
Awesome venue with awesome bands playing there. I went to my first concert here this year and all of the bands who played knocked it out of the park. They offer VIP access to some shows which is basically the upper balcony, and you can get a great view of the bands without feeling too claustrophobic. They offer upgrades the day of the show, even if the event is sold out, so if you want to splurge a bit, do the VIP. But GA is not bad at all. The crowds there are very supportive of the bands, and it seems that there is always a positive energy here.
I went to see Brian Fallon here back in June. The sound was great and the venue appears to be maintained well. The only issue I had is that for the price they charge you to see the show and for drinks the service was lacking. Cheap low quality drinks were prepared terribly and sold for high prices. Not my favorite venue due to that.
We got here 5 hours prior to the concert we were attending. We knew that there was a fast lane ahead of us, fine. But then they sold “VIP” tickets to the rest of the line for $40+ a person and then we were kicked all the way to the back. After waiting foreverrrrrr. Screw this place, the venue needs to do a better job at pleasing their customers. Just wow.
It was our first time at the venue. The security confiscated my tiny plastic bottle, which had a few sips of water in it. Just keep in mind that they do not allow any unsealed liquids or gels of any kind. This venue is on a smaller side, which means that you can get a good view of the stage from any location. We showed up a bit early (actually, 30 minutes late, but it is considered early for the evening concert), so we ended up getting a good spot in the VIP section on the balcony. The quality of sound was great and there were no technical issues throughout the concert.
Ive seen countless shows here, most of them good to great. Not all the sight lines are ideal but the sound system is decent and they get some terrific acts. This is the place to go to see that band you love just before they get really popular and start playing stadiums or after their their heyday when other fans have forgotten them.
Decent sized venue. Easy access to all of bars (that are super expensive but thats NYC). HUGE staircase so be prepared to go up and down if you need to use the bathroom. If youre short you may want to go upstairs for a better view because unless youre up front, its kind of impossible to see anything.
My absolute favorite concert venue. Comviently located near a large subway station and theres plenty of food and drink places around the area for after the show. The bar staff is nice and they dont skimp on drinks, the coat check girls can be a bit on edge but you gotta understand that they are very busy when everyone wants to check their winter coat and be quick. Never had an issue here. Still and forever will be my favorite concert venue
One of the best venues in NYC. The lines can get long but the staff are friendly, and moves fans quickly. In addition, Nicole, the box office lady, was so kind enough to wish me a happy birthday when they had a show of Kate Nash, and I thanked her enough for that. They have some good shows there, and will continue to attend for the next few months. Highly recommended.
Well, this concert venue has been around for a very long time. Located in the middle of everything in NYC, just a block East of Union Square. I would describe it as a cozy place where you can see some of your favorite bands up and close. Theres no seats on the main level. So most likely you will find yourself standing for the whole show. One time, I attended a concert where they had seating, but every other show I have been to at this venue as been general admission. Theres a small balcony, but I dont know exactly how to get admission for that area. I usually hang out in the back, by where the soundboard is set up. It allows me to see the show in peace. The place is very convenient for public transportation, with the Union Square station being just one block away and you can catch 8 or 9 different subway lines.
Drinks are a little over priced and audio quality in the back of the venue isnt great but if youre looking to catch a cheap show, well run show look no further. The bouncers and security do a good job keeping guests safe with routine Pat downs and checks for passes at certain locations. Get a coat check pass in advance if you can and get ready to meet the band after the show. Also be sure to try to get to barricade for the best show, center of GA floor can get mosh heavy for certain shows.
Great venue and easy to grab drinks at the large bar in the back or downstairs. I wish they didnt have a balcony though because usually its VIP and if youre in the back it severly cuts off your view of the stage otherwise its a decently intimate venue and one Im always happy to go to a show at. Even packed it never feels ridiculously claustrophobic and the merch booths are in the hallway so theres enough elbow room to grab your wallet out and not have to yell seven times that you want a medium.
Nice venue with pretty good acoustics. Been here a few times. You can pay $25 to go upstairs which includes a drink, and you can get away from the moshpits and crowds below. If you stand in the back, and the music is softer, there are often people by the bar talking and not paying any mind to the show and that can get really annoying. Just something to keep in mind.
Very nice and well run concert venue. Very small and like the size of a High School gym. There is a balcony that offers a great view of the stage and a well stocked if not expensive bar in the back. Since the place is small the sound was great from wherever I stood.Bathrooms are what they are for a venue of this type.
A decent place to throw a party. The Ladies Room however needed to be paid attention to more as it was pretty dirty. The staff was friendly the food selection wasnt much just your Basics like hot dogs they have beer and about 3 bars. The drinks were a bit expensive for what was offered and didnt taste that great as a matter of fact they tasted a bit watered down. I gave it 4 stars because it served its purpose for a show. I will definitely return but I will make sure to drink my alcohol before I get there.
The sound system there is mostly ok. Sight lines are good, even from the back bar area. Good acts play there. I do like how they get creative with naming drink specials after songs from the musical performer, but Ive never tried one. Bartenders are polite, but other staff are very rude. Should you find yourself outside after the show to smoke or converse, they insist you move to another block, even if the side walk is public domain and NOT in front of the venue. They will physically get in your personal space.
This is my third time going to an event here and this last time I danced till 4:15 AM for the Freedom Party celebration of Michael Jackson. I think the venue is accessible and I have done both VIP and regular admission and both have been great. Prices for drinks are pretty consistent with most venues like this in NYC. Glad that they are on point. Security is no joke here too. They are definitely a visible presence.
Went there for a concert. The venue is not the greatest if you are a bit on the short side as you cant see anything. Lines to get in can get very long but I guess that is expected. Just wish the platform can be a bit higher so everyone can enjoy or add some side screens. There were screens on the top floor but those guys can see way better than the people in the bottom.
Cool Venue spot but I had to be pat down by security before entering which I thought was crazy, didnt make me feel safe, made me feel like its more alarming. Drinks were expensive a well drink was $12. Dance event Sybarite was amazing! Great energy, everyone got a long. Very moving event.
Excellent medium sized venue with a balcony to see decent bands at. Not a fan that their bar prices seem to get higher and higher every time I visit (I dont think Wolfgang Puck owning the bars inside helps this at all now). Security has been pretty tight ever since they were bought out by Clear Channel and dont expect to be allowed to keep your bag with you anymore as they now (not so strictly) enforce a bag check on large bags and backpacks. No more worries of some schnook nailing into you with their bag in the crowd because of this, which is a good thing, but a hassle if you dont carry cash on you, as they do charge for the coat/bag check. The place can get pretty packed, so if you dont want to watch your favorite band from afar, you need to show up early or learn how to shove your way through a crowd to get closer during the performances that have a big draw.
I paid an extra $30 for the high rise section, which is fine, but the whole time security was crossing in front of me saying excuse me because it was the only way to get to the back stage area. Staff was nice though. Oh and it was extremely cold outside and not too much warmer inside the place. Took me an hour to feel my toes again. Good thing i didnt check my coat in or i wouldve been miserable. The show was awesome tho.
This venue is absolutely horrendous if youre someone that likes to actually see your artist perform, its beyond over packed.. way too many tickets are sold. Theres no place to move.. I saw an absolutely amazing band perform tonight, but they were tarnished by this terrible venue. Very, very disappointed. Will never return here again, and will be sure to pass along the advice to anyone else considering a show here.

2022-04-06Been a while since Ive been here. Still a great place to see a show.Despite the entrance line wrapping the block, they got us all in promptly enough. The sound was very clear from the speakers.Spent a little extra to get into the little vip area in the basement for this show, was worth it for the clean bathrooms and comfy seat in between acts.

2022-05-11This is an awesome venue. Saw The Strokes here in June 2021. I got lucky and scored some balcony tickets, which featured a very close and personal experience with the band and opening acts. The sound was great and the venue was clean. Drinks were overpriced (definitely expected for NYC), but they were really strong and good drinks. Overall a great experience. I’d definitely come here again if an artist I like is on the bill.

2022-06-16Great staff and plenty of nearby parking. Super clean and looking good after the remodel. It would be nice if the bathrooms were on the stage level. Cool speakeasy type bar downstairs with great drinks but 1 bartender only creates a small wait

2022-03-14Lets start with the Venue. Irving Plaza, small and tight but more than enough room to have a great time. The staff were AMAZING!!!Jay, (Doorman/ security) Peter ( security) and Armando ( bartender) were the nicest people I have ever met. Someone in our party was on crutches and Jay brought the entire group (4) up to the balcony to watch the show from the handicap section. All night Peter was checking in on us and offering us chairs and keeping the floor spotless so we wouldnt slip on spilt drinks. Armando, as handsome as he is charming! Great service and an all around lovable human being! Now for the concert... Hot Mulligan was absolute perfection as always. Knuckle Puck was phenomenal! The lighting and sound were perfect. I have never seen a production run so smoothly. This is my second time seeing this tour and I will absolutely be seeing them again before the end of the tour.As for Irving Plaza, I cant tell you when Ill have the need to go back there seeing its 3 hours away, but I will go out of my way to find shows there because of the experience we had.

2022-05-13The venue is great, the sound amazing and the show espectacular. But 2 of the security access ladies were completely rude, disrespectful and abused of their power, they nearly didnt let me in. I travelled specially to NYC from Spain for this show, I had all my vaccines and ticket in order and because they were not used to a foreign covid certificate which by the way was in English aswell they treated me like I was going to get arrested. They didnt allow me to speak and try to explain, they were yelling at my husband because he didnt speak English and also mistreated the rest of my friends at one point I thought she was going to hit me. The rest of the staff were ok but these 2 ladies and I am sure everybody knows who I am talking about have serious issues and need anger management lessons, specially because they have to deal with lots of persons every day. It,s a shame because the venue is excellent.

2021-10-18This is my second time here and I love how small and cozy it feels. I went to see Cradle of Filth, a heavy metal band, and it was very cool. I paid a bit more to be at the balcony, and although my side had no chairs it was the best decision. It felt very private. Great venue over all.

2022-05-17Finally made it to Irving Plaza. What a great venue. Small enough to feel like every show is intimate but not crowded. Stage high enough that youre not missing the show standing near the back. Sound was great, the staff was great, the bands were fantastic. We started out in the mezzanine behind the soundboard, after walking around NYC all day it was nice to sit and watch the opening acts before making our way to the floor. The mezzanine doesnt really offer the best views unless you pay for them, so beware. The area wasnt bad, just a bit distracting with the lights from the booth. Id not hesitate to see more shows here in the future. It was worth the trip.

2022-02-27A couple other reviews have mentioned that the new balcony tickets are terrible - this provides a bit more context. This was my first time at this venue and I purchased “preferred balcony” seats for ~$25 more / head (vs. GA). These get you into only one side area of the balcony that provides ~10 people with a view of the stage. The rest (anyone not right by the railing) can’t even see the stage because it’s on the side and not directly facing the stage. They’ve sold 40-50 of these tickets, meaning 30-40 people in this area have no view whatsoever. They sell “prime” balcony seats on the day of for $50/60 a head. Spoke with 2 individuals in some type of managerial position to see if we could get the difference of our “preferred balcony” seats applied to the ~$100 we would need to pay to be able to see the concert (i.e. the original preferred balcony seats were useless). They were completely unaccommodating - it’s criminal to sell terrible “premium” seats and try to upsell you on top of that. If they sold the “prime” option as a ticket option from the get-go, I would have purchased it. You can see from the pictures how silly the premium balcony view is vs. What they try to upsell you. 2 stars because I like the artist.
