This is not Japanese food. Ordered Oyakodon and it came out fried with no egg. When I told the waitress she gave me the wrong dish she replied that’s how we do it here. If you are going to copy another cultures food at least do it right or at least get the name right on the menu. Don’t label something wrong and say that’s how we do it. Oyakodon is never fried in Japan and comes with egg. Also the dish tasted pretty bad. My wife’s dish wasn’t done right either.
So impressed by the quality and quantity of food here. Particularly appreciated the udon soup having the broth in a separate container so it wasn’t soggy when we ate it later. The unagi was especially delicious!I meant to ask for an eco-friendly option. Didn’t need so much packaging (would have been fine with like items being combined) and certainly didn’t need silverware or napkins. Will ask next time, can’t wait to go back!
I dont know who allows some people to review anything, but the sushi was delicious. Who comes here for the miso soup then complains? We also enjoyed the boneless ribs and dumplings. Just yummy. To put it simply, you choose to eat at a sushi spot, eat the damn sushi. Its fresh, flavorful and delicious. Some of you might need to have your taste buds checked. My almost 4 year old son loved it.
Consistency is critical in restaurants and Isamu has maintained pretty consistent quality since opening. Very efficient service and didn’t skip a beat transitioning to more takeout during Covid. Japanese and Chinese menu including great sushi and plenty of vegan options.
Nice decor and they do alot with a small space. Service was quick and when explained the menu well. I ordered the crab rangoons and they were amazing. Not greasey and the filling was delightful. The ramen aka noodles in soup was filling and delicious. Finished it off with the fried green tea ice cream and it was another homerun. I will be going back with friends and family.
AVOID!!!! This place is absolutely DISGUSTING!!! I found hair in my sushi and the waiter was not wearing a mask. After I told them there are two dark hairs in my food (clearly not mine, because my hair is blonde), they we pushing back on replacing the order. The service is slow and the waitress was very rude.
Overpriced but I’m addicted to sushi 🍣, I only eat here when Ive had too much to drink, had a crazy day and don’t care about anything but the taste for sushi, unagi, ikura and mackerel. But it’s NOT CHEAP AT ALL.I often still feel hungry after spending a lot of money for small portions 💴 but I keep going back for connivence.
I never take the time to write reviews, but the food at this place is just bad. They cant even make a decent miso soup or sautéed string beans, which is so basic. The soup had this awful funky taste to it, and the string beans were super soggy and greasy. If this wasnt the Only sushi available in Beacon, this place would be out of business. Extremely dissatisfied customer who will never order or eat at your place again. This is my 2nd bad experience. I attributed the first one to Covid, but now I see the owners of this place just dont care about the food.
What in the world happened to beacon? Do people get out from there??? This place isnt even average. The ramen was not up to par at all. Lightly seasoned, gyoza was decent best part of the meal honestly. The lo mein was ok. The shrimp tempura just tasted like oil😩waste of money honestly. I should have known better than to go to a 4.1 star restaurant 🤦🏽♀️
This place is amazing!! I came here for my birthday. It was so nice. Such a beautiful atmosphere. Food was great, they’re prompt on checking identification when it comes to drink ordering and that’s great to protect an establishment. Food presentation was nice and over all atmosphere was pleasant. I think that the only thing I have to say brought down a star was that the floor next to me looked like it was caving in which concerned my boyfriend and I told him they wouldn’t have service going on if it wasn’t safe. Then it was relatively hot in there. No air conditioning. I’m assuming it may not be working or something but on a hot day, it made the establishment too warm and finally they don’t really do anything to celebrate birthdays which bummed me out. Not even a cake with a candle? Would have been nice. I kinda looked forward to having a cake for my birthday but never got one this year because of that. Overall though, this is a beautiful place and I definitely would love to bring my friends here.
We ate here pre-COVID and loved it , so I ordered Teka Don (raw tuna w sushi rice) to pick up. It was ready 10 minutes later. When I got home, the tuna did not look/taste ultra fresh. Then I noticed that the rice was ultra cold. So I called and they admitted the dish had been made that morning and refrigerated ! Really? I may as well have picked it up at the store. I am really astonished. Will drive over to Fishkill next time.
My boyfriend, mom and me all got food to go from here a few months ago, we were all highly disappointed in the food but i got the general tso tofu and it was SILKEN tofu, general tso should always be firm or extra firm so it doesnt fall apart, silken falls apart if touched. Firm tofu has the texture of meat and is what your supposed to use for general tso. The tofu wasnt fried at all if even cooked at all, i wouldnt be surprised if they microwaved it. It was also in a pool of general tso sauce lightly flavored water. On top of everything it was half a meal and over priced.
If this isnt the worst Sushi Ive ever had, then I mustve forgotten a case of food poisoning. The spicy tuna hand roll looked like it was swept up from the floor and wrapped by a toddler. I really should have sent it back but didnt want to be a pain. Other items ordered tasted like theyve been sitting in the open fridge of a 7-11 for the last 24 hours. Service was satisfactory.
I have had sushi pretty much all over Orange County and some are better then others of course. Today I stopped here to have a little lunch with my daughter and I ordered 2 rolls ...1 shrimp tempura and 1crab tempura very small. The smallest rolls I have ever had and I was charged $22.00 Any where else this would of been $8.00 maybe $9.00. I could of went to my go to spot and had 6 rolls for the same price as 2 here, and they would of been bigger and better. Not happy at all and will not go there agian.
From the moment walking in (first time) and having servers not treat the customer correct to actually sitting down and eating the “signature” sushi rolls was horrible. They were very standoffish and ride and the sushi tasted old and nearly no flavor (other than unpleasant) Will not return.
Went today for the first time and the experience could have been better. The servers didnt really check on us. My boyfriend had to get up to ask for the sauce he wanted to eat his meal with and then his sushi was dry and falling apart when trying to pick it up with chop sticks. We go out to a lot of places that serve sushi so we know good food as well as good service. They didnt offer him more water until after he was done with his food. My food was barely warm when I got it. Considering he ordered fancy rolls that were $11 each they really should have been better. My California roll which came with my bento box was better than his Spider and California King roll. All in all the experience was subpar. I would recommend going to a different place for sushi.
Food is better than most local Chinese restaurants. Service is rude, resentful. Stayed away for a few years because of the horrible service. Dined there today with a friend. Nothing changed. Almost the same problems, waitress pulling the menu from my female guests hand. Last time I was there with two woman, one had a tug of war with menu. Will never to back again. And the place was empty went we ordered lunch, today. Whats the excuse for such rude service? They hate their customers. Hey, if you dont like people, get out of the food service business!
Good food. Nice selection of Chinese and Japanese foods something for most palates. Traditional sushi. Good atmosphere, though loud when crowded. Service often rough: sometimes hurried or brusque. This includes piling of dirty dishes directly on table in front of you as you finish your meal. We still travel 30 minutes to eat here, though.
Ambience is lacking. Food is lacking. Ordered the Golden Roll - a pile of mush in your mouth. The wonton soup was ok. Seaweed salad was lacking. Ordered another roll.. not sure of the name, but it had shiso in it which saved the roll (love me some shiso leaf!!) Wasabi was dried out and old. Miso soup was ok. Had a tuna appetizer but the tuna had so much mayo in it it was a bit sickly. No lies - Ill 99.9% never go back.I dont feel so great after eating here. 🤢
Ordered the curry katsudon from here and there was barely any curry on it, and they charge you extra in order to get an adequate amount. Not to mention the curry was watered down and you could barely taste any of the curry flavor. Then when I asked for a spoon they initially gave me a ramen spoon to eat my curry with; they only gave me a regular spoon after I asked as second time. Mediocre service.
My recite said Sissy for the waitress. Hope thats correct. If so, she is awesome! BUT! do not park on main st unless you want to be blocked in. Sat in car for 36 min waiting on someone to move their car/truck. Unable to move back or forward. So bring something to read if you do park on main st.
We stopped in Yesterday for lunch. My daughters beef teriyaki bento box was inedible. Disgusting bathroom with rubber gloves to clean the toilet hanging off the sink. Not friendly. Rolls were okay but, the fish in my chirachi were not fresh. Tomago tasted like chalk and the shrimp like vinegar. Never again !
Great food, crap service. Ive gone many times, the last time I did, I was charged a higher price for an item than stated on the menu. I requested I be charged the price on the menu, I was told the price had changed and the menu had not been updated, they refused to honor the menu price. I have not been back but was told by a friend they have since corrected the price on the menu.
To the Management:If you need to exterminate for pests, for future reference please do the following:1) Tell patrons coming in close to closing time that you are indeed closed and NOT Yes we are open, what would you like?2) Maybe wait until the one guy who just ordered a Bento box leaves your establishment before you have pest control start spraying the kitchen where his food is being prepped?3) Have Mr. Mayhem park his roach hearse down the block or side street.
A friend of mine took me to Isamu. She praised this place in Beacon, NY. For me, it was my first time at this restaurant. The service was great and the waitress was gracious. My girlfriend ordered some chicken platter and was served beef instead. However, the waitress corrected their mistake and was very apologetic. I got the Kung Poa Chicken and Scallion Pancakes. OH MY GOD...it was amazing!! The food came out rather quickly. We didnt wait very long. Everything was delicious. I definitely want to go back. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

2022-06-13Years ago I would order here and get the bento box, I never tried their dinner. Now that Ive tried their dinner we have been back 3 or 4 times already. Their Chinese food is very fresh. Its worth the 25-30 min drive. The spicy beef platter and the general tsao chicken are delicious!

2022-07-04My daughter and I love going here! The sushi is delicious and the Katsu and other meats are lightly breaded and fried to perfection.

2021-10-23Its not ramen its as they call a soup with chicken based broth. Veggies where fresh but raw... idky... I ordered both beef and duck and the duck was not on point like Ive had in places that looked much... mm simple I guess to say the least and the beef reminded me of the beef served In the Chinese food joint at the local mall.

2021-09-09The food and service exceeded my expectation and they charge half of the price compared to similar restaurants in long island. Highly recommend this place.

2021-06-16Overall good experience. The food arrived promptly and was presented well. There was flavor in every bite and adequate amounts of sauce being brought regularly to the table. Staff was polite and worked fast. Good food, good prices. Nothing more could make this better.

2022-01-27Very affordable and a great meal. I purchased the Vegetable Lo Mein, Crab Rangood appetizer, and had both a coke and bottle of Sake i was easily able to share with my friend. Overall spent a VERY reasonable $28 before tipping. The interior is beautifully designed and the staff is very nice. Great place to impress a date without breaking your bank!

2022-06-26Fine selection of Japanese cuisine. Great atmosphere with friendly, helpful staff. Steamed dumplings, broccoli/beef and white rice along with a small bottle of Sapporo beer was a most delicious combination.

2021-08-29Bland food! I got the duck ramen with egg noodles and a salmon skin roll. The roll was okay, it wasnt really rolled well but the salmon was tasty. Unfortunately the ramen was the worst Ive had at a restaurant. It was literally just watered down chicken broth, with no seasonings or salt. Really flavorless, and would not recommend, the duck was the only good part about the ramen! My husband got General Tsos chicken and it was also pretty bland and lacking in flavor. Probably wont come here again.

2022-03-23Okay, here is an honest review from someone who comes here ALOT. some of you people are leaving bad reviews because you are entitled. the staff here isnt rude at all, they just cant speak much with customers because they do not know much english. the food is mostly good here. is it expensive? yes. is it worth it? sometimes. is the food good? for the most part! when it. comes to sushi, the redhead roll and dragon roll is my favorite, the samurai role is good too and i liked the sakura roll too. like i said before, yes its expensive and not always worth it but the food is still good. some people here leaving reviews are being too entitled.

2022-06-24Used to love this place. Recently food has tasted old. That’s the only way to describe it. Beef did not taste right and pork had a horrible smell. This is the 4th time this happened so I guess I can’t go back.
