Very quiet and serene park ideal for a small picnic, yoga or meditation session or perhaps lunch and a good book. Nestled above busy Broadway streets under lovely trees that provide shade from summer heat. Take the time to look & smell the many beautiful plants blooming in the dedicated garden and flower beds throughout. Learn a little history about the Isham family of old that the street & park is named after by reading the inscriptions on marble bench & along the park wall. Steps & hill ideal for walk exercise. Many thanks to the older European - American woman who cleaned & cared for this parks grounds pre Covid19. I believe her name is Maria or Stella & she started gardening here before NYC Parks Dept. invested the time or money to do so. Hope she is well & pics of her clean up of this park are still posted.
Beautiful escape from the daily city life. Especially during this time of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Furthermore, if you happen to go on a Saturday morning or early Saturday afternoon, youre able to enjoy the weekly Farmers Market. Theres nothing like purchasing fresh fruits, Vvegetables, and a variety of other items.
I have a mixed review. I see this as my neighborhood park and it comes with the usual NYC caveats.During the summer and spring there are several events for Easter egg hunts to kids camps using the space. These are great and fairly standard for activities. There is an amazing group of neighbors dedicated to caring for the park. They weed, plant, and clean on a regular basis. One woman can be seen almost daily, managing the planted beds. Kids play and older folks sun themselves on benches. The downside to this park is the rat infestation near the subway entrance. While there have been traps out for a while the rats seem wise to our human antics. At the same time the creatures are unfortunately heaven and I have had the misfortune of exclaiming in a higher octave than is my norm after having a beast run into my leg.
This place is peaceful and great to do BBQs. In the summer you can enjoy walks in the park and enjoy sitting down on benches and big rocks. There is a field where you can lay down at or sit up against a tree. Its nice all year round honestly. There are benches with engravings on them too! Its an eye catcher.
This park is a great place. Its huge, nice and quiet. I come here about every night to clear my mind and relaxe while strolling along the river. You have to sometimes becareful at night thought because some of the trails become flooded because of the river or rain. And during the winter it freezes and becomes icey. Also another thing you need to watch out for at night is the skunks and racoons. They go through the trash. All in all I think this place is neat.

2022-05-10After school times are a great way to enjoy seeing your kids play with their friends. The ambience is youthful and reminiscent of my youth. Seeing kids interact and parents be more engaging with their children is so encouraging. I like that this park has different settings so kids can be at a jungle gym, or a sand area, or swings with a view of teams playing baseball in walking distance of the river and eating/drinking establishments. Definitely recommend 9/10

2018-07-03Nice clean small park. Walking paths all throughout the park, a nice open lawn area. Good for picnics or just enjoying the breeze on a summer day sitting on the benches

2019-04-12Beautiful hilly park situated in Inwood in northern Manhattan between Seaman Ave and Broadway. This park has lots of steps you need to ascend but it has some nice views of the neighborhood. Plenty of benches along the way to take a breather. At the top is a great place to walk your dog or push the baby in the stroller. This was the park my mother brought us to as small children. We used to climb the rock over by the tree. It was like a mountain to us! Lots of foliage and a small community garden on the egde of the park.

2021-04-21The park is one of my favorite places. It has baseball fields that have children playing little league on the weekends, basketball courts, etc. There are paths that break off and go into the nature and make you feel a little more alone on some of those paths. Its at the tip top of the city where the waterways join together. Well maintained and there are bathrooms by all the courts/fields.
