Please can someone explain how this place has a A rating when the cooks are outside smoking with their gloves on and then go back inside to cook WITH THE SAME GLOVES THEY WERE SMOKING WITH ON?? And how they have an A rating but the name of the establishment is whited out on the form? The food is never hot...how can you serve HOT tea but the hot water is COLD??
The roti here is very good comparing to most roti shops, i buy almost everyday. The place is a little shabby not pretty and fancy ,agreed could do with some renovations. Never experienced attitudes from the owners.

This place gives service that disgusts me, the staff is rude and offensive. my mother is very old and ordered some food she decided she was going to go home and get money and come back to pay. Turns out she did want the food anymore but it was like a little goat curry which could have easily been put back to sell. The whole staff started barking at my older mother for not buying the food even though she was one of their regular customers.

This is the most disgusting and nasty place ever. On Thursday (07/26/18) evening, I went to buy a curry goat and roti. I had it for dinner later that night, and I got so sick that I ended up in the ER. The doctors told me that I had ingested an almost lethal bacteria. The doctors in the ER asked me what I ate, so I told them the only thing that I could have thought of eating in the last few hours which was the same curry goat and roti. The food tasted so disgusting that I had leftovers which my mother then proceeded to take it to the doctors who took it to their lab. They eventually came back after approximately two hours, and they reported that the food contained traces of rat feces. I was stuck in the hospital, recovering for 2 days at L.I.J. My mother was so upset that she went to tell the roti shop what had happened and the old lady (I think she is the owner, I am not sure) was very nasty, she insulted my mom calling her names and yelling, these exact words, I have been here for 19 years and i dont need YOU all, I have lots of customers. My mom told her she will call the health department on her. The lady proceeded to say Try it nah, I have them in my pocket. You see I have a grade A, I have money. How can these people open for business if they cant keep there place clean and endanger the lives of their customers? I will never buy food from this place again. THAT IS ONE VERY NASTY OLD WOMAN.

Food was tastes less should have just waited in the line out the door at Trinicity. The channa in the doubles was hard , The chow mein was taste less. Portions are very small.
These people don’t know how to follow directions either that or they hard of hearing. I told these people two times to put NO PEPPER on my food and what do they do..put a whole bunch of pepper on it.
We was just inside this location waiting to place a order we was never asked did we need help the lady just kept proceeding to do what she was doing so my husband proceeded to ask can we get food she turned and told him she in the middle of a order when she done wowwwww how you tell a customer that is in your face waiting to be serviced they have to wait. I will never go to this place again very bad service besides the fact of they B rating smfh
Saturday 18th July 2016 at approximately 10.00am I went there to buy doubles,coffee and soda. I was in line behind the customer who was paying for his food. The cashier prepared his food which was two whole wheat sada roti and two dhalpourie....without any gloves...she then proceeded to collect payment...I ordered two doubles..she prepared my doubles with one used glove I saw her put on which had been lying there.. ( it was turned inside out)..as she handling my food gloves only on her right hand ...she used both hands to handle my bharah (doubles).....I then told aunty that her hands were preparing my food without clean gloves and u less than 2 minutes ago handled money......she denied it...but I reminded her I am right here looking at her...Now she got into a tantrum...refused to sell me and said she was was in business 17 years....I tried telling her I was paying for my food...why cant it be handled properly...? She started to argue with me ...I left very disappointed and hungry.....I am quoting her... I dont need u,I have other customers yes she does ...who does know how unsanitary she is.
The lady overcharged for the roti on a holiday weekend, and also at times miscalculated the change. Please check your change, dont trust that its correct.

The food is very disgusting idk why I went threre. Not my type of food. No seasoning, no flavor no nothing. Very hard oxtails, I returned my food and got back my money. First and Last!.

I asked for more potatoes and the worker through it in and was rude, and when I asked for extra potatoes in my second roti she said no and charged me still for extra potatoes.

2022-04-16Curry chicken roti was terrible, absolutely no flavor. The saheena was tasteless as well. The place looked so junky & dirty floor was sticky. The best thing was the solo drink.

2020-11-11I have never been to this place until my Dad took me. I have always passed by but never Went in. I would Normally get my Roti from Other places higher up on Liberty Av. But since my dad was picking it up, we went here. We got the Curry Chicken and Potatos Roti and I got a Peanut Punch for me for $3 (My Fave go to Childhood Drink) the Roti and chicken tasted Great and it was only $5.75. I definitely enjoyed it and will be returning again soon.

2021-05-13I really like the doubles from here. The other food items Ive tried was pretty good too. Customer service is not great but not bad. However its definitely a hidden gem. Its like that secret spot you goto for your west Indian craves that hits the spot, but wont really rave about it. The place is rather small I think this place has great potential but their facilities is what kinda suck...

2021-06-08I visit this special place from time to time because I love the good mood that is exist in this place. The personel is extraordianrillyremarkably welcoming and well trained. The service is impressively quick. Not to mention, the food they prepare is highly distinguished. I visited often and I was never disappointed. The pay is modest. I highly suggest this place to to everybody.

2020-05-28This is a restaurant that has been around for over 20 years. The negative reviews are disturbing especially since many of them were prompted by the neighboring restaurants and laundromat owner who wants the spot for himself. Both him and his wife stand in the parking lot and tell customers to not go in there. This is why there are quite a number of reviews that state the same abuses hurled by the neighboring business. This is the height of unethical behavior and a sad truth. The family of Island Roti Shop work very hard and serve authentic Caribbean Cuisine. They are the same people who do so many acts of kindness to those in need...not for the public eye or recognition. Never try to break the hand that fed you...this is the evil behind the persons who have benefited from the restaurant without charge and went ahead and had others shame them through some of these google reviews. Yes, we know. Island Roti Shop is known for treating customers like family. You may write as many lies to try to send them out of business but you cannot take away the love loyal customers have for them. Many of the restaurant owners in the area buy food here! Customers buy food to take nationwide and even as far as the UK and China. Do not judge a book by its cover. All that glitters is not gold. This is a diamond in the ruff. There is so much good history here. It is so upsetting to read comments that are meant to hurt and not help. It may not be the fine dining you are looking for but it is just as great.

2019-02-15This place has good food but the service continues to be an issue. Nice people working there but the system is severely lacking. In fact online i complained about the long lines. Then i was advised ,in response online, to call my order ahead. Then when I tried to call the order in the lady who asnwered the phone told me that they do not take orders over the phone for my pick up. Then they dont take cards. The same posted sign advising the the card system is out of order has been there for months.To match the good food this place is in desperate need of a systematic over hall. Any cost that it would take to to this would more than pay for itself from the costumers who choose to stay and order instead of leaveing or looking in and deciding to go elswhere or not coming by at all.
