The place is horrible. I ordered a 3 plates of lamb and the thing was not edible. I am giving the place a 1 star because I couldn’t give it a 0 (zero) star. Don’t spend your money there. Street vendors foods are much tastier. The place is very expensive be careful guys because he charged me extra money for nothing.version: HORRIBLE PLACE. Avoid at all costs.
Delicious food and amazing service. The prices are good for the portion size and the service is fast. The highlight for me, even though I love doner and the doner plate was beyond amazing, was the Turkish tea. I had flashbacks to my time in Istanbul.Definitely worth going again. And again. And again.
What a wonderful find in Hells Kitchen. Amazing Turkish food cooked by a chef from Tajikistan. Absolutely delicious. The Iskander kebab, hummus, baba ghanouj, stuffed grape leaves and the breads were superb. The Turkish tea was exactly as I remember from my visit to Istanbul. I will be back.
Very nice kebabs but little expensive because of the location. They offfer 25% discount on first time online orders through their wesbite so dont forget to grab that offer.I took their chicken donor, lamb adana and their mixed meat grill which comes with everything in it. The food was great and the packaging was very impressive.Dont miss this spot if you want to try kebabs!
I want to give them five stars but my last order the rice was not well cooked, and the meat not tasty at all, unfortunately, I waste my money in this meals I will not return back again, the first order the sauce was great but today it just almost mayonnaise, and the tomatoes sauce not spicy! One dish cost $23.95 before tax and discount!Really the taste less than average and does not deserve these prices.I dont recommend!
It’s a small but comfortable place. I was just chilling watching a Turkish movie and enjoying a very delicious falafel wrap. I love the hummus on it. It’s a burst of flavors and textures that make a falafel sandwich so nice. The staff is nice and the wrap arrived hit, ready and fast. It’s on my dinner list because it was a large wrap with lots of falafel and I wAnted to go to sleep afterwards. #falafel #kingofcoffeenyc #sankofatafari #turkishfood #turkish #turkey
If you want a delicious authentic Turkish kebab experience, you have to check out Istanbul Kebab House at 712 9th Avenue, between West 49th and West 48th. Your hosts, Mert and Erdem, are going to make sure that your order is going to have you coming back for more. Deicious!
Dissapointed, i was actually fasting that day and wanted to have turkish food, but i regret it.the appetizers were decent, but the döner tasted bland, and the turkish bread was not fresh, i don’t know where they got it? Maybe the bread museum? The server was nice though, she was really busy waitressing, taking orders through the phone, sending out the delivery orders, and yet she was calm and helpful.Food gets 3 stars, the server 5 stars.I’d give them another try but i was dissapointed :(
Istanbul Kebab House New YorkOne of the best Turkish kebab in New York. Test is good and the food quality is surprisingly amazing. You can have delicious kebab items and biriyani too. If you want to have any particular Turkish food items then Istanbul Kebab House New York is the right place for you.
I ate there last week at the recommendation of our hotel bell captain. Their hummus was probably the best I’ve ever had and the Turkish bread was excellent. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Everything was fresh, flavorful and plentiful. I especially loved the Turkish tea. Very small dine in area but oh so worth it. The next time I’m in NYC, I will be back!
I have tried so many turkish restaurant but this one is the top one in my opinion. I have ordered a pick up twice in a row due the amazing and fresh food they have. Everything tasted good and delicious, I have ordered chicken and lamb Adana with rice, lentil soup, hummus and eggplant. Every dish was freshly made and was perfectly prepared. Also I have received plenty of turkish bread and pita bread plus to a side salad.
The lamb chops were really well cooked - super tender and yummy. The chicken shawarma was just okay - felt like there wasnt enough chicken in the lavash wrap I got. The waitress was pretty nice but the food took pretty long to come out. Fries were mediocre. They only had rice pudding as a dessert option and it wasnt very good. Id go here again for the lamb chops!
We were driving through and we wanted to stop by a Turkish restaurant with my family.. It was a great experience! The food was delicious and the young server lady welcomed us with hot Turkish teas traditionally served when she sees we are sooo cold when we run inside because of the snow. Thank you, highly recommended!
We were looking for the perfect spot to have a delicious kebab. And we found it right here at this tiny but cozy restaurant. The staff was polite and the food was amazing. The girl who served us told us that the chef of this restaurant comes from a city in Turkey where kebabs are traditional
This place is amazing, food is genuinely delicious with a great service not found in busy NYC. Our party of 4 had lunch special Falafel 🥙 Sandwiches and one plate of hummus. We never tried such sandwich on Turkish pita bread. Out of this world taste and service! This place should be rated higher than it is. I highly recommend for good food, amazing service, and more than reasonably priced in the heart of Times Square!!! Must visit!!! - Visitors from Chicago
Great food, nice employees. Eating in the restaurant is not very comfortable, their priority is takeout and delivery. They added an illegal surcharge when I paid with a credit card. This was added not to the bill but only when the credit card was run with no warning. It is legal to charge less for paying cash but it is illegal to add a percentage-based surcharge for using a credit card, which is what they did.
We ordered theMix grill platter, it was delicious and tender, very big portion which is perfect for two. Cansel the waitress was amazing, polite worm and attentive, She was the only waitress so she had to do everything, clean the tables, take care of all all customers pick up the phone, she managed to do it great on her own with an excellent service.
We were very excited to eat Turkish food there but it was disappointment. Doner had no taste. Employees are very mean face and angry. If you don’t like your job you should fine another job to work. I hope for customer satisfaction you can consider our comments. Just at the end of the food before we live, they asked for good reviews with smiling face which we didn’t see that kindness until we were about the leave. Don’t recommend.
I absolutely recommend! I love how lowkey and cozy this place is. I was looking for a small halal place to have a graduation lunch for my sister and I found Istanbul Kebab House. I recommend doing both the chicken and lamb platters because it has everything and you can get an idea of what you really like for next time. You get to try a little bit of everything in one! Their bread is so fluffy and perfect. My favorite has to be having Turkish tea and baklava after the meal. It is the perfect combination and it really completes the meal. Aside from food, the service is amazing and the decor is really nice, especially the art! My mother fell in love with the serving cups for the tea. I did another order for takeout for some other family members and they loved it as well. Overall this place is amazing, the vibe is really nice, and everyone was super nice.
I honestly hate leaving negative reviews. This was my second time dining here. The first time was fantastic! Today I am really disappointed. The falafels were very soft and mushy. The tzatziki was watery and not like yogurt at all. The cabbage was pickled,.. which is weird. And worst of all the hummus was sweet. Me and my boyfriend are sitting here with upset stomachs.
Just happy to share good news!!The place is fantastic. The staff was very nice since the moment we arrived, the place was nice and clean.Food: we order the mix grill platter.Definitely enough to for 2 people, we even took some in a box.Price: Reasonable for the food we got.Well be back
Unfortunately, I was in the restaurant for the first time today, and the receptionist treated me inappropriately and prevented me from sitting inside the restaurant and talking with her hand a lot. It was the first time and I think the last time to order eny food The owner of the restaurant should choose good reception staff who are good in hospitality and speech
I liked that the place near the Times Square so people can visit , its small place yes but dont mind if there is a delicious food , loved the food , I ordered chicken shish kabob and served with rice and salad and the two sauce, was sooo good I finished the visit with a tea, and the only negative comment I have that the tea so little to be with 2.5 dollar , other than that is so good place
I was on a business trip and stayed in Manhattan for a few days. I was only looking for halal restaurant and tried them all in the area. This restaurant was really bad. Not cleanxl, food was bad, staff were rude and service to was terrible. I would never go back to this restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone. If you are looking for good halal food with good service, try Sahara Turkish Cuisine or other halal options in the area. Stay away from this one.
There should be an option for zero stars, This place was our worst experience ever! Ordered lamb shish, the guy was too pushy and rude, food is too rubbery and disgusting and to make our experience more memorable we found a roach 🪳 on our table while we were paying our check, never coming back to this place, We were deceived by the reviews,
Food has no flavor. They don’t season there food. No salt and no middle eastern spices. Or if they do, they dont know how to season their food. If you want tasty middle eastern food don’t come here. They have decent customer volume because of location but if it wasn’t for that, I can’t imagine they would have repeat customers. To the owner: do you taste your own food? It’s tasteless. Hire a real cook
I would give 0 stars if that were an option. Since when did Covid/pandemic change the way people in the service industry treat their customers? Very disgusted in what I experienced. I’m 100% sure my chicken was raw and was extremely disappointed in the way the staff AND chef handled the situation after I brought this up to them and showed them my raw chicken. Also we were placed at a table in the back and my husband and I were constantly swatting flies away not to mention the amount of flies that were (for some reason) all over one section of the wall, which happens to be where they seated us. I can say I will never eat here again and I would never recommend this place to anyone!!
Bland food, felt like cook forgot to put in salt and spices in the lamb.Other negatives, I was charged extra for paying with credit card, had they told me that before hand, would have used cash. Was asked to stand in doorway because i was carrying an umbrella, which was dry as i got in before rain started. Not very great customer service. Not happy at all and would go elsewhere as there are plenty of options around.
Ive been to almost every Turkish restaurant in NYC, and this is by far the best in Manhattan.1) Prices are unbeatable.2) Portions are enormous. Im a pig, and still am unable to finish my plate on occasion.3) Very nice young girl there that always takes care of me.4) The food is beyond delicious. The lamb, chicken, rice, salad, appetizers, etc, are all Mount Olympus level quality. The only downside is that the place is a little small, however, I never have any issue with getting a table.Worth the trip into the city from New Jersey.
I consider myself something of a kebab aficionado, and this place is the best durum (wrap) kebab I have had in Manhattan. The service is very fast. Its great for dine in or take out. When you dine in they put the sauces in these fancy looking gravy boat things. Cant recommend enough
The food is out of this world...The lamb chop platter with chicken...rice and salad. The lamb and chicken gyros is OMG with white or red sauce. The desserts are awesome and you must try their Turkish tea. A must try...you wont be disappointed. Enjoy this Mediterranean treat...you will come back for more.
Great decor and atmosphere! Location is unbeatable. Stuff is very friendly and helpful. We didnt like the chicken doner. It doesnt have any seasoning. My friend commented for her food This is like the chicken fried after boiling. To be honest, we regretted for not eating from one of those trucks after leaving the place.
Honestly? Not impressed. We split the hummus appetizer. I had the chicken schwarma plate as my main. We closed with some baklava and tea. While the entree portions were huge, there was almost no flavor in anything. Even after adding white sauce (their term, not mine), still nothing. Its not that it was bad in any way. It was just entirely unremarkable. The service was good and the place was crowded. Just expected more.
Lamb gyro is incredibly bland. Needs more salt and seasoning. One of the most flavorless lamb gyros in town. The pita sandwich is sloppy. They stuff lettuce 2/3 up and then top it with the lamb like an ice cream cone. They need to add the lettuce and lamb so that I taste both when I bite into it. Otherwise I’m just biting into flavorless meat until I bite into lettuce at the end .
The food was delicious and authentic, the atmosphere is cute and cozy for a small restaurant. The service was great, our waitress was always there in the right time. The food was prepared in perfect time as well, especially since we were starving after seeing a Broadway show. Would want to come back.
Very friendly staff, great food, nice portions and the price isnt so bad either. Im there at least once a week. You can either sit down or take out. I usually take out. Just be aware that the place is tiny and Im usually in the way as people go in and out while waiting for my food. But, they are fast and the food is delicious.
Glad to have finally tried this place. Well seasoned lamb an chicken, thinly sliced it melts in your mouth. During our visit we ordered the lamb and chicken platter with a side of French fries. (I would choose another side the next time based of the great flavor from the platter) in our opinion a great choice. The platter was large enough to share with a side. I would recommend doing this if you are not extremely hungry.
Ive tried most Greek and Turkish restaurants in New York, but Istanbul Kebab House is the best Turkish restaurant among all of them!Great atmosphere and food full of flavor! Amazing and friendly staff! Will definitely be back. I am always very pleased with the food quality and amazing service.I highly recommend this place!!!!
Best Turkish restaurant around.Food was delicious, I had the Mixed Chicken Grill which was really great. The appetizers were excellent. The server Abbas, was very professional very helpful and very friendly. My new favorite spot, clean and great service.Prices are pretty normal. You have to try it once.
I sent my friends to this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The dishes they serve are flavorable and the crew is very friendly and cooperative. Whenever we eat in this place we enjoy a splendid evening. highly recommended.
Went to this pace after reading rave reviews in time out magazine. Ordered sheesh kebab in Turkish bread. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst sandwiches I have had in a bit ... It was very tasteless and I had to add sauces to make it edible. The bread was super dry and tasteless too.. decor was also very average... Won’t come back.
This is a small and very busy place. I ate in but bear in mind there is not much seating. I had the large chicken kebab plate which came with a huge portion of rice and salad. It was excellent. The sauces are a good accompaniment. I sat where I had a perfect vantage point of the cooking area/ cashier/online ordering area and took my time eating and observing all the dynamics. They receive a lot of online orders, uber eats and traditional phone orders as well as persons walking in and ordering to go and people eating in. The service is good but because its so busy it may take a few minutes longer to place an order or pay your cheque. The owner or manager does appear to be a hard taskmaster.
While many restaurants in Hells Kitchen come and go quickly, this place still exists which means theyre doing something right. Ive been customer for over 10 years. They have been serving real Turkish food, everyday for over 10 years. Nice, BIG satisfying portions too! One of the best in HK.
I used to go here several times a week for lunch and recommend to all my coworkers. The food taste authentic and portion is very good. The price is also decent. But recently I have noticed the chicken meat has started to deteriorate. First I noticed a few pieces of chicken skin, then I noticed caliage, today I got a piece of chicken bone in my doner. Hope they can improve.
Delicious food. Lamb kebab was nicely done and rice pilaf was really tasty. The falafel with hummus was great and would make a nice snack. The best was the Turkish tea. Delicious and beautifully presented. The place only seats 20 so much of the business is take-out. So its great for a quick bite. The service was not slow and our waiter was attentive. He promptly refilled my tea when he saw how much ai liked it.
Whenever my friends ask me what the best food in Germany is, I always say the same thing: Turkish food. Ive been looking for good döner kebab in the States for a long time, and I finally found it. Unfortunately I live in Atlanta.Great food, great prices, and great people. My future trips to NYC will always include a stop at Istanbul Kebab House
I found out about Istanbul Kebab House through MealPal, actually!First and foremost: the food is absolutely delicious. The lamb doner in particular is great and its what got me hooked on this place in my neighborhood.Recently, I ordered a large order of a bunch of different items and I was having some trouble with the coupon code form when ordering online. When I showed up to the location in person, the hostess and host were really nice in helping me fix it and they even offered me tea while I waited for the order. Very thoughtful! The staff there works super hard preparing delivery and in-house meals for people round the clock and they manage to do so without sacrificing quality. Definitely coming back many times! Thanks, guys!
This restaurant is incredibly unassuming. From the outside, due to the kitchen being at the front of the restaurant, it looks like a counter-style place; in actuality, it is a small but well decorated casual sit down restaurant. I almost didnt go in because of this misconception, but Im glad I did. The food prices were very reasonable and the portion sizes very generous. Most important of course was the food- the chicken shawarma was the best Ive ever had (the lamb shawarma was a bit oversalted though); well roasted on the surface yet extremely tender on the inside. Highly recommended.
English man in New York! 💂 This place is brilliant. In London we have some great Kebab places, but this place is a little gem of a place. They have a good selection on offer, can recommend any of the kebabs on offer. Could this be the best Kebab in Manhattan? Will you find out!

Im not sure I would revisit again, space is very small one bathroom for male and female food was adequate if you really hungry the plates come in two sizes small and large. I had the small and couldnt finish, only two dishes for vegans, which not all that great. My friend liked the lamb though. Suggestion tips on our bill range from 18 percent to 30 percent. Iol this was not fine dinning!
Amazing experience! Was there this afternoon to grab the chicken gyro with rice and the experience here have never failed. It was really busy in there and the wait was about 20 minutes, i coukdnt wait that long and the guy i guess the owner his name is Sunatila totally rocked it!! He made sure i get my food before that! Tasty as hell! Great customer service! 5 stars and above!!
I went to the Istanbul Kebab House yesterday with a friend. He wanted halal food because hes from Yemen,so I suggested this place. The restaurant also had a very high star rating, and I could see why.I ordered lamb chops,AND MAN!They were out of this world! My friend, who ordered the same thing, agreed.Bread came with the meal and my friend ordered hummus to go with that, and boy was it good! The restaurant is pretty much a hole in the wall (literally) though, but its air-conditioned.You have to wait outside until a table is available, but its not a long wait.Just dont go there on a rainy day.
Got a sandwich there for the first time. Now they offer them on home made Turkish Bread. I got the chicken schwarma ( or called doner or gyro depending where u are from) and it was quite amazing. Overstuffed beyond belief on amazing bread and great chicken with 2 sauces to add on. For the price ($7.50) I doubt if you could find anything better, and even at any price it was outstanding. Cant wait to go back and try the lamb version. Staff and service also excellent.
It is a small but clean and nice place. the price range is reasonable. but the taste is somehow not great. I will stay away from iskender next time, since it is not cooked as how real iskender cooks. Cay (tea) is $2, which is insane. many of of the Turkish restaurants serve it as free. the guy serving us was nice and neat.

2022-04-11The inside is very small/cozy, but wasnt busy when we arrived. Doner was delicious, probably one of the more affordable places we ate in our stay in NYC. Dine in service was quick and meal included a soda. Definitely worth checking out for some authentic food. They also offer free delivery!

2022-01-17Kebab was good. Decoration can be improved. Also tried the rice pudding which tastes below average. Need to improve their desert items. Parking around the area is difficult. Probably good idea to park few blocks far from the resturent. Also Main Street parking is bit pricy too. Service is okay but still there are room for improvements.

2022-01-09One of the best Turkish food I ever had in US on 9th Avenue, near times square. Quality of Doner Kebab, Baklava and tea/coffee is another level. I feel like I am eating in Istanbul. Staff is very friendly and nice specially the lady who is working there as a manager. I will pay few visits before I go back to my home country.

2021-11-08The food at this tiny joint might be some of the best kebab I have had in the city. This place exactly what New York’s vibrant food scene is about, grabbing a bite before or after your Broadway show is the perfect was to complete a night out in the city experience. It may not be the fanciest of places but if you want a party in your mouth and for your stomach to thank you for the delicious food, definitely checkout this spot!

2022-09-10Edit: Visited this place 9 months later and still keeping 5 stars!!! It’s a small place but hospitality is 10/10, their two sauces are just🔥 and food was still very good! The prices increased a bit and portion seemed a little smaller but still best Turkish food in the city!!!Best Turkish food in the city and very humble staff. If you need anything they are there to help and food tastes juicy, full of flavor. Although the place is small, it’s just a really great experience at a reasonable price. 100% recommended!!!

2022-08-26Nice staff who accomodated our big group. Understandably cramped place. Food was tasty but I would appreciated the sauces to be inside the wrap instead of been on side. Turkish tea was amazing. Food was a bit pricey for my liking.

2021-11-20Ordered the Istanbul Platter, it feeds about 3 so we ordered 2 for 6. Place is definitely a little small but great for a Mediterranean New York destination. Service was very good, ordered tea as well. Would definitely recommend ordering the baklava as a dessert. As someone who eats a lot of baklava, this was probably some of the best Ive ever had. Close comfort food atmosphere, great food, excellent dessert.

2022-07-26They charged for the water, he was giving water for free to others!!, then there is a service fee and tax!!! Altogether it was over $27 dollars!!! 😱😱😱 Grateful that they replaced rice and bread with more salad. Alhamdulillah.

2021-09-26I ordered their lunch special, which came with chicken doner (thinly sliced meat) and rice, bread and hummus, turkish coffee (i swapped it in to replace the turkish tea), and a choice of dessert (i chose the baklava). everything was very tasty and fresh. the chicken was very flavorful and the marinade they use for their meats is very well balanced. the coffee and baklava paired perfectly together and was the perfect finish to a delightful meal. i highly recommend trying.

2021-11-21Cant believe I never ate here before! I was wandering around 9th Avenue unsure of what I wanted to eat & after checking out the lunch menu it was absolutely perfect! I ordered the chicken pita lunch special & a Turkish Tea & I highly recommend. Flavorful, juicy, filling, & I didnt feel overstuffed afterwards! You can add spice to your order as well, as they offer sauces on the side. Highly recommend! Its a small restaurant that really packs a punch with delicious food & more than fair prices. Cant wait to return here!
