Jackson Hole in other cities:
Jackson Hole has somewhat fancier food than other diner-type restaurants in the neighborhood, but its also more expensive. As a value proposition, the increased price probably overwhelms the increased quality. If you like mushrooms, get the burger with mushrooms and onions and youll get a LOT of mushrooms. They serve root beer in a frosted glass, which is nice, and they have both regular and diet Stewarts rootbeer.
Awesome experience. This location is clean and practicing the proper safety precautions providing hand sanitizer, and taking temperatures. It is a very small space but its intimate and there is also outside seating if you prefer it that way. The ginger ale was flat but all the more reason to drink water right haha I will definitely be going back. Awesome hospitality.
Small hole in the wall burger joint. I love Jackson Hole. I’ve eaten at their Astoria location prior, but never eaten in this location. I ordered the classic burger with curly fries and it was to die for! The flavors were so rich. It was just oozing with so much flavor. I highly recommend this location. It isn’t for big parties. A party of 4 is the most I’d say but great for date nights! Enjoy!
Literally the worst burger I have ever had. I ordered a med well classic burger which comes with fried onions lett diced Tom bacon and sauce. The burger wasn’t seasoned at all barely cooked and way too big the bun it came on. For 20$ a burger they can at least season the meat. I was so hungry so I ate a few bites very disappointed
The measure of a good burger, as with most things in life, is when it is stripped to the basics: the patty and the buns. At Jackson Hole, the burgers are both big in taste, quality and portion. Ive been returning to JH for their classic, standard burgers (no cheese, just a medium-rare patty with lettuce, tomato and onions) for awhile now, and I leave happy every single time. The patty is always juicy and not too salty. I love the agency to season to my own liking. Buns are simply no-frills buns. No need for gourmet, artisanal breads. No complains here. Ive tried all their fries but a favorite would be the sweet potatoes followed by waffle fries. Always freshly prepared so they are highly addictive. If you prefer cheese with your patty, I would recommend the Swiss cheese as a subtle complement but again to each his own.Covid update: restaurant is making an effort to keep everyone safe and happy. The indoor seating space is adequate but there are tight corners that may require patience when navigating. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Please support this local establishment during these challenging times.
Excellent burgers and fries. Onion rings are terrific. Always enjoy looking at the decor with western movie posters. Its a little cramped so you need to go in off hours. Some waiters are awful and I know which one to stay away from. Have to ask multiple times for pickles and refills of beverages. But if dont care about that you will get a great platter.
Delicious food and great portions! Highly recommend. We got a peanut butter milkshake, waffle fries, HUGE burger with steak fries and I got a turkey/goat cheese sandwich with eggs, mushrooms and onions. Everything was freshly made and we took it to go. The other drinks were from another spot called Little Spain Mercado by the Highline. Combined all together made for a great and filling lunch outside.
Overall a great experience. These 7oz burgers are huge. I dont recommend getting an appetizer if you are trying these bad boys. The BBQ Truffle was a delight and I recommend the onion rings as a side. The burger itself though was a little bland but the toppings definitely made for it.

Wow.I was looking for a place to grab a quick bite before seeing a movie nearby and found this slightly hidden gem. The outside looks upscale but rest assured youre in for a very old school New York burger joint vibe once inside. Its small, but thats not a bad thing. Intimate and cozy come to mind. Now, for the food. I had The Goat which is a burger with goat cheese, sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions, and pesto. Eating it one sitting may have been a mistake -- it was absolutely huge. But it was just so good that I couldnt stop.Such an amazing find! If youre hungry and in the area, DEFINITELY stop in. You wont regret it.
The most tragic burger I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. I’d rather eat GMO McDonald’s than this stuff. I ordered delivery and it came all squashed in container. I opened the container and the burger almost came alive and bit my ear off that’s how much of a monstrosity it was. Oversized and flavorless. The chicken tenders were all soggy. Guys are you kidding me? Anyone with half a brain can tell how bad this is. HAHAAAHAH! The Classic burger had chopped greek salad in it!! I’m dying. Who puts chopped cucumber lettuce and tomato in a cheeseburger?? Guys this is a hard pass unless you’re just going there to have a beer. Which I wouldn’t do that either.
Bland Hamburgers and just Meh food.Me and my wife have been here twice now, the first time we were unimpressed but decided to give it a second chance. Turns out, our first impressions were on the spot. While the hamburgers are ok when combined with all the toppings, by themselves the meat is extremely bland. It literally tastes like someone just combined some ground beef together and threw it on the grill, no seasoning added. It feels like salt is a forbidden seasoning, not only for the hamburgers but even the fries lacked salt. Simply, there was too much meat on the hamburger and it lacked flavor. That being said the ambiance is cool and the service was great, but I would definitely not go back.
I ordered a Mac and cheese Burger Deluxe, In my fries there was a mix of broken Nacho Chips with Cheese on it. Obviously cross contamination. The steak fries had no cheese, so just in case the broken chips came out of a dirty fry basket then they would be just chips. I had to throw out my burger just after a quarter bite.
This was a huge burger guys. Very tasty. Service was good. Small seating space but it wasnt packed and what do you expect in NYC.I was sitting in back near an employee door and apparently that is where the freezer was at. There was a time they were storing some items and the cold air from the freezer hit me. It was all good though. Nice cool breeze. 😎
Best place in the world! I would say that this is my favorite place in the city. The hamburger is HUGE, GOOD and WELL COOKED. The combination of ingredients are fantastic. The place is very cozy and comfortable, you can find a lot of very old stuffs, like 60 and 70 stuffs. The service is OK, sufficiently fast. One concern is that the place is under the ground, so for some people it can be claustrophobic.... Not my case at all, but for some people may be. Anyway I highly recommend this place for everyone,in particular ifyou can eat a lot and are very very hungry!
Awesome place. I ordered the Texas Breakfast Burger and Buffalo Wings to keep for lunch the next day and still had food left over. Absolutely perfect burger and wings. Very quick and staff was very nice and made sure everything great. The place was packed too so the efficiency was top notch. Thank you!
The staff was very friendly. Had their Baldouni burger and chicken wrap. The food tasted great! They quantity was very large and reasonable prices. I expected more from their steak fries (given their price). An interesting starter: they served slightly pickled cucumbers as complimentary starters. To top it off: the cozy, mid-west decor
It doesnt look like much from the outside but one step down from street level there is a cosy place. At first we thought they didnt have any tables since you can only see the bar but around the corner they have some tables and interesting decor. The staff were friendly and nice. The food was sadly only OK. Reasonably priced but the burger was a bit greasy and the fries were pretty bad. Not crowded on a Saturday night.
Nestled below ground in a cavern like experience, Jackson Hole on 64th was awesome. The service was polite and quick for lunch. Classic American diner options with excellent flavor. My mom use to take me to different Jackson Hole diners around NYC as a kid. They didnt disappoint then, and theyre still going strong now!
Honestly, shocked. Hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. DONT YOU DARE PUT KETCHUP ON THIS. If I was Dave Portnoy and if this was pizza….9.2 Literally shocked at how good the classic burger is. Franky… Franky… get a look at this burger…. I still haven’t rated a pizza above a 8.7… so for me to say 9.2…. on this burger rating… there’s your burger review.
Always a great burger of any kind - beef, turkey, veggie, whatever. Salads are fresh and generous. Our favorite is the Greek Salad complete w stuffed grape leaves. My favorite locations are 64th between 2nd and 3rd, and the Ditmars/Astoria Blvd spots. The service at both is excellent 😄
Small but perfectly appointed. Step down for entry into grill area and after a few steps to the right you are in the dining room. Turkey burgers are phenomenal! Extra large burgers (you need 2 hands!) with tons of topping options. Pricing is just right and servers are incredibly pleasant.
Im giving them 4 stars because I usually like Jackson Hole. On my most recent visit though, I wasnt pleased. The burger wasnt seasoned and for whatever reason, it had huge chunks of onions inside of it (theyve never done that before). Overall though, a really good place for a burger. FYI, I get the turkey, but my family enjoys the beef burgers.
Staying in a nearby hotel with my kids and found this place across the street. The burgers were AMAZING -- huge and very tasty. My 10 year old kids are pretty big eaters and they sometimes hesitate to order of the kids menu. But the kids burgers were a good size and fully satisfying. Service was good. Definitely a good place to take the family for dinner.
The food was amazing! Both mine and my partners burgers were super juicy (medium rare and medium well respectively). The loaded waffle fries were do die for. I highly recommend the shakes especially the Jackson Hole Shake.. The fabulous banana split ended the great meal perfectly.
Ive gone to Jackson Hole since my college days back in the 80s...the first time Ive been to this location in a long time(was going to the location in Englewood NJ but they are closed)my neice wanted a good burger and I suggested J.H. ..lets just say we will definitely be back!
Very enthusiastic about the menu items, especially the Mac and cheese burger. I ordered a month ago but was too upset to remember to write a bad review on GrubHub because I was ranting to my wife who thought the same thing after being excited for truffle Mac and cheese. Its not that the food was bad, it was completely lacking in flavor and was the only time I felt compelled to call and complain about anything. Never got a refund or a compensation even though I called directly and didnt want to deal with GrubHub service. Was polite on the phone but the lady sounded taken aback or offended because she probably had to go tell the kitchen staff and get chewed out because a kitchen can get offended and toxic about that stuff. Kitchen likes to think they know everything about cooking (I know the feeling). Almost brought over my kitchen resume as a way to say I didnt like the food but Id like to help fix that when I was laid off from my engineering job but sadly I got brought back. Id rather be engineering food honestly.Have been here before to drink and eat before COVID and it was really tasty and a great place, but please season your food thank you :-)
I have been to other Jackson hole, locations. 10 27 18 was my wife son and i.first visit to this location. the storefront is very different from any other Jackson Hole, establishment that I have been to. from the outside it looks upscale. once inside it feels casual. the space is tight but comfortable. the service is fast and friendly. the food here is great. the burgers are huge. the steak fries were cut long and perfectly cooked. I love the homemade pickles and coleslaw. the prices are reasonable. I think this is my favorite Jackson Hole, location. (I will know for sure after a few more visits).i would definitely recommend that you add this location to your must visit list.
I come to NYC a lot for work and usually try to find restaurants within walking distance of my hotel. This was my first time eating here and it was phenomenal! The atmosphere was great, very warm and inviting, small but it fit the personality of the place. The food was delicious, the staff was quick and friendly and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely be back!!
I order probably 2x per week. Good food but terrible customer service. Ordered a deluxe chicken sandwich with fries but the fries never came. I paid for them. When I tried to complain and ask for a refund. they swore that they gave me the fries and wouldn’t offer a refund. Unless I returned the food. Or get 20% off my next order (which doesn’t cover the fries). Why would I also return the food? They said that got the order right. What a terrible policy. Way bette burger joints around that will treat you better. Save your $ for a restaurant that treats people like human beings .
The burgers are huge. Theyre so big, it turns into a big mess if you get one with onions and BBQ sauce. The beef tastes really, really good too. Definitely a fresh burger patty. The fries are average, but the big thick steak fries. The inside is really small and cramped.I enjoyed my western burger, but I wouldnt go out of my way to go back.
I visited New York and saw the strong reviews for this place, so I gave it a shot. I sat at the bar facing the cooking area. The workers were cordial. I was served a water, but once I drank it I was never asked for a refill. The burgers are 7 ounces (and theyre known for the size of their burgers). If you are looking for a decently priced meal, this fits the bill. However, I am thoroughly unimpressed with the quality of the food. The burgers are bland, they are not packed tightly, and they are cooked on a skillet. The buns are thick enough to adequately deal with the size of the burger. The tomatoes were fresh, the iceberg lettuce was adequate. The steak fries were bland. There are condiments for you to add to the dish to spice it up (and you have a variety of combinations to make your burger more special-- cheeses, bacon, etc.). This review is not based upon what is done to the burgers, but the burgers themselves.
If you want a really good burger.... This is the place. They have a wide variety of burgers on the menu and all of them are worth a try, you can order a burger alone or make it a combo with fries or sweet potato fries and slaw. This place has been serving up burgers for almost 50 years. This for is a must stop for burger lovers everywhere if you are visiting NY and a must for those of us who live here.
We like a lot to go out. Last night we went to this delicious restaurant which friends recommended to us. We enjoyed a beautiful time there with high-qulity cooking and a nice crew and a distinguished chief cook. We put this fine restaurant in our phone list and we shall definitely go again very soon. We deeply recommend.
Online menu is old, actual prices are higher. Old trick to get people in.Also burgers’ prices doesn’t include french fries, lettuce and tomato, that’s an additional $3.75. I mean... :/Entrance opens to the kitchen, customers walk through there. Not what I would call sanitary. But definitely agree with other reviewers, food is delicious.
One of the best burger places in the area. They have a wide variety of interesting burger types, the portions are big and the price is reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place for somebody looking for a good hamburger in the area. Have yet to try the other items on the menu list.
Epic burgers, so big and filling you wont be able to finish the fries. In-house sodas (especially black cherry) are great as well. Price is excellent considering youre in Manhattan, even though by itself is a great deal. Love the memorabilia inside, overall a very good spot
Had a parmagian veggie 🍔, friend had burger baldouni. The veggie was a little Bland red sauce couldve been more seasoned other wise it was OK. Friends burger was good but the onion rings and French fries combo was over cooked hard and cold, but other wise good. Place is small so dont plan for a large party. Street parking is far and few you might find something on Sunday if you. If you decide to pay park be careful of the price advertising
Hamburgers. Really big hamburgers. Thats what Jackson Hole is known for and they dont disappoint. Dont even hope that youll be able to eat these neatly and of course abandon any diet you may be on before you enter. The food is really good although prices seem to have sharply increased in recent years. The dining area is cozy to say the least but the subdued lighting and nostalgic decor make it fun. A perfect place for comfort food.
I love Jackson Hole because the burgers are delicious. Savory and cooked to order, I enjoyed every bite. On this special occasion I got the three mini sliders with Mac and cheese and a side order of sweet potato fries. This location is in the heart of Manhattan, not too far from Bloomingdales. Its located in the basement of an old brownstone and quite eleketic. If you enjoy a seven ounce burger then dont hesitate come on down you wont be disappointed!
Hands down the best burger on the planet !!! My dad was a sky chef ,(cooked for 1st class on airlines ) so , Im definitely epicurean . but the Jackson hole burger is delicious for its subtle simplicity .... 7ounces of fresh lightly salted ground beef , grilled and steamed to perfection to lock in the burgers juices , topped with real cheese on a bun or english muffin ( my preference ) . Jackson hole burgers are SO GOOD , that , even though me and my wife have cut down on red meat , we make an exception and enjoy their burgers at least once or twice a month !! ... I even phoned in to the radio show on Z100 and got on the air ... when they asked who has the best burger !! Hands down ... Jackson Hole
The dining room is very cute and the massive burgers and juicy chicken sandwiches combinations are AWESOME. The steak fries are okay at best. I saw someone else that ordered the fries and onion rings extra crispy, so I will try that next time. I highly recommend the blue cheese burger and will definitely be back there again.
I ordered a burger medium rare, what I got was a well done burger that was so burned that even after I scrapped off the char, I couldn’t eat it. The bread was incredibly soggy and the fries were chewy and tasted like they were sitting out all day. I literally took one bite of the burger, tried two fries and threw it out. If you don’t know how to package food to survive the 10 minute commute to the customer, then you shouldn’t be in the business of take out.
We were up for the weekend to see a show and stayed at the Loews Hotel. Got back a little late and ordered from here using Grubhub. The service was quick and the food was delicious. It was so good, that we ordered again the next night. The delivery was easy and everyone was super nice. Love this place, wish there was one in PA. Hum, Hum good.
Below is a picture of my coworkers food. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a veggie burger it was mushy and fell apart. Barely any flavor. It could be been better. My meal was 19.90 cents with fries and a soda. I wouldve been better off eating anywhere else. I was very disappointed. If you want an excellent beef burger go to Jackson Hole. Skip the veggie.
I had to think about this one a little bit. It was $30.00 for 1 burger and 2 beers before tip $38.00 with the tip. So a bit pricey but then I take into account the downtown are, cost of overhead... They have to make money somehow. That was my only point of consideration. Other than that, the food was fresh and good, the service was fast and attentive and as friendly as it gets in NYC (busy place, so not a lot of time for small talk?. Loved the decor as well!! You should go at least once!
I stopped here because of the high reviews and ordered their veggie burger. While my expectations of veggie burger quality has increased because of better recent commercial alternatives (eg Impossible and Beyond Burgers), their homemade veggie burger was still the kind of bland, mushy potato-like texture youll find in most diners.
Well the place is cramped which is to be expected given the location. The app was amazing and left me excited for the burgers to arrive. But once they did it was like grey mush. The meat had no seasoning and the fries tasted like oven fries you buy from the supermarket. When I asked a server about the meat and told him the burger was bad, he proceeded to argue with me that it was fine. I suggested maybe they just didnt season it enough. Then the rude server told me they dont season the meat so it was fine.Well I found your problem as to why its bland mush, youre supposed to season meat!!They refused to cut the price, give me a refund, or offer me any sort of trade off as I didnt eat any of my food as it was god awful. The staff was rude and unhelpful and argumentative. This place is trash.
Extremely tiny front area when you walk in, so not great for groups of you need to wait around. Quiet staff not too talkative. Burger was overly gigantic and a little overcooked. If you’re very drunk and very starving then this place is sufficient enough to quell both of those states but I wouldn’t return here otherwise
A small and very popular diner. To a true New Yorker it really is a restaurant. That being said, have a burger!! Many different styles of burgers, that are terrific. I ordered my burger rare, 98% of the time it comes out medium. Not here, it was made perfectly! They also do a tremendous to go, take out business. The only meh thing was the coffee. If you like strong, grow hair on your chest coffee, you are in luck, otherwise avoid it. But, get a burger!!
Great service even if they are not warm and personable, they are professional. Reasonably fast service, especially in as tight a space as they have. And even though they are noticeably pricey and not particularly healthy, (paleo, gaps, whole 30, etc. Not here) they are good for a burger joint. Pretty darn good. Filling portions and well cooked meat make it a recommended location for any.
Extremely cute Upper Eastside classic basement restaurant with fun bar food and a good drinks selection including New York classics like Egg Cremes. The highlight is their 7oz burgers which are excellent. Friendly service and reasonable pricing in a really cool atmosphere. Well with checking out but not quite as good as JG Melon if I’m forced to choose between the two.
Dont Eat here. First of all the restaurant is in a basement. I ordered on Jan 2019, A Cheese burger and fries. It cost me 17 dollars, way over-priced ,plus tax. The burger tasted worst then hospital food, no seasoning, salt or anything and the Fries was cooked in old cooking oil, having an over cooked taste to them. I was very disappointed because I ate at the 85th street store many times and was pleased with it. But the one on 64th street needs to take more pride in making a great burger taste good. Avoid this location at all cost. If you visit NYC, Dont stop here not worth your time or money. I would have returned the food but i had to go to work and was so disgusted, I throw away the receipt. Ill Never Eat Here Again. ONE Star from me!!!!!!!!!!!
This place was absolutely horrible. I agree with the other review that the meat is grey mush. No seasoning, overcooked. I ordered their Truffle BBQ Burger, which consisted of undercooked mushrooms and onions, cheap bread, the grey mush meat, and an agonizingly sweet bbq sauce. I could only take a few bites before calling it quits. This is probably the first time in my life Ive actually refused to eat food at a restaurant. When the server came to take our plates, he didnt act surprised that we left most of our burgers untouched, and never asked for feedback - he just swiftly brought the bill for the full price. Needless to say, I didnt tip. Dont let the cozy atmosphere lure you in - the food is practically poison!
I visited this place a few months back with a friend and was impressed by the burgers and fries, they were both really good. However, I think I recall that this place didnt serve beer, which is an incredibly un-Wyoming kind of thing to do. Needless to say, if you want authentic western food and dining, leave NYC. However, its a decent approximation at a fair NYC price.
Food is delicious and reasonably priced. The location is a little small, but its not supposed to be a Michelin starred ristorante. Portions are generous, the crowd is on the young side, but the vibe is pretty friendly. Id reccomend without hesitation, but watch the stairs down to the doorway. This location isnt appropriate for mobility impaired individuals.
We havnt eaten here in about 2 years because the last time we ordered from this place all of us were violently sick. The burgers were greasy & gristly. The salad was old, wilted & tired looking. The quality of the food had slowly but surely been deteriorating over the course of the year that we did order from this place regularly from. After our getting sick incident, we have stayed away.
One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood when Im really hungry! The atmosphere points to recreate a wild west; very characteristic is having hundreds of old objects scattered all over the walls and the ceiling (skiis, old lanterns, etc). Food wise, their East Sider burger is humongous and so tasty that I can hardly resist! The bronco is also good even if not going for the burger in this place is basically outrageous! The service is impeccable and fast. Not five star as they recently increased the prices but Ill keep going every time I can!
Service can be very arrogant, but no surprise, reading the answers for the reviews.Owner accepts only positive criticism and pretentious being shocked every time if someone complains, however customers mention the same problems.Improve the service instead of the verbal excuses. Family business or not, pride gets old quickly, not enough to run a show.Food is a hit or miss, no consistent quality.Thank you but no thank you.
The decor is underground retro. If you can find this hidden gem at E 64 st. It feels like a time capsule, take pictures. Its mainly a Hamburger restaurant, with a variety of hamburgers. Its like a meatloaf on a bun. There are many other food choices as well. They serve beer, o recomend their Blue moonThe staff are friendly. You have outdoor seating if your curious to discover their back section. Upon entering you will go downstairs a small flight of stairs. Thus is not a restaurant youll find, if your not looking. Great to get away for lunch or dinner, no one will do red you. Prices are very fair by todays standards. Please dont ask for well done burgers. Enjoy
Took two friends from out of town here and they could not believe the selection, the portion sizes, and the flavor packed into the legendary burgers. I thought, it cant really be that good, right? But it is. Itll sate nearly any appetite, while still being kind on your wallet.
I used to love this place. I had my 8th grade graduation here and ahve been a loyal customer for over 20 YEARS! Once again 20 YEARS! Nope not anymore, the food is great but the waiters and manager were extremely rude this past evening. Im not quite sure why but everyone was just hostile. I was rushed through my meal without anyone asking me even if I wanted a drink. The check came while I was still eating. I will advise everyone I know ( who were also regulars ) to never go to this Jackson Hole again. The best businesses always know how to put the customer first. They understand this builds loyalty and reputation, in the long run increasing revenue greatly. I guess the people running this place now are too simple minded to understand that
Jackson hole is one of the best resteraunts for getting hamburgers. I have ordered delivery from this location twice, and both times they were very fast and the food was warm and delicious. We have also been into the resteraunt to eat two or three times. They are some of the best hamburgers I have ever had. Also, they give you a complimentary plate of pickles which are delicious while you are waiting for the entrees. We will continue to go back! Also, they have great mill shakes.
Thick tasteless burger, thank God for cheese. I would have been happier at McDonalds. No salt on anything. Bacon was fatty and soft. Fries were just blah. Its like hospital food for people who cant have salt. Spent $80 on horrible food. No one even asked how everything was or cared to notice they picked up full plates.Btw, many customers have commented about the food (burgers) so please dont respond with a comment that youre shocked to hear this. Maybe consider spending some time at the E64th location and tasting the food.Uneaten plates should concern you all.
The place was really small, the tables are too close behind & in front of each other, I felt cramped. There was no heat. Once we ordered, my fries were burnt & coffee was cold. The burger was ok. This was my first & last time going to that restaurant, maybe Ill try another location
Went there a couple of weeks ago with friends after a painting class. We had a fabulous time and meal. We all ordered one of them 7 ounce burgers with the works. I had mine topped with mushrooms and swiss cheese along with the lettuce, tomatoes on a nice big bun. Didnt take pictures. I was hungry and I forgot.
I travelled all the way from Germany to NYC to have a taste of meat in jacksons hole. After I landed, I took a cab straight into Jacksons Hole. I must say, the burgers taste good in Jacksons hole. I specifically liked the Mac n Cheese burger, which was full of flavour in Jacksons hole. I was a bit sweaty after eating in jacksons hole, as it were a lot of calories to swallow. The cheese was nice too. I recommend anyone to have a taste of Jacksons hole, it can get a bit busy, but its worth it. I wish more places were like Jacksons hole.
The burger was really good quality. Cooked exactly as I asked for it as well as the persons I was dining with. You gotta eat these things with a fork as they are not stingy with the toppings. Your not gonna pick it up and eat it without making a messt. Service was VERY quick. Price is ok for the East side... Just realize the beverages are not refillable. Two drinks each was 7.50... Found that to be a bit over the top. $40 for two burgers, two fries and a drink with one refill each. And oh yeah, the coleslaw is REALLY good!
One of the best burger joints in the NY metro area. Theyre known for their 7 oz burgers. My favorites are the Blue Cheese burger and the Bacon Cheddar burger. Make it a platter. The fries are pretty good, cut large. When they seat you, they serve a complimentary platter of pickles. This place is not that easy to spot from the street. Its a basement space with a small awning at the entrance. Very cool interior with lots of antiques and old movie posters. Metered street parking is usually available.
Best turkey burger in the city. I believe its because it has more fat, but it was tasty nonetheless. It feels very cramped though as the place is mostly underground.Update: Brunch here is quite awful. They give you an omelet with turkey sausage, they literally wrap a patty of turkey sausage in some eggs. Quite horrid, I was disappointed.
One of, if not the best places in NYC (and probably anywhere!) for a burger. Rare means rare which is not to be taken for granted. Their buns are perfect but they are also happy to serve on lettuce for Keto followers. This place hasn’t changed since I was a kid snd im grateful for that.
We go to this place now for over more than 20 years. But unfortunately we go there only once in a while - to be exact just every 5 to 10 years! This place is the BEST burger place I know in New York.We just love the size and taste of the burger.I am looking foward to go there again in 4 years!!!
Restaurant was small and the tables were extremely close to each other. So close a gentleman became ill during his meal and his coughing and vomiting definitely disrupted the eating environment for all. The wait staff were prompt and courteous but dont think I will return.
Came for my lunch break. I called before I walked in. I asked how long would it be and was told that my order was started already. I just happened to look above at the orders and saw they put the ticket behind 8 other orders. One thing I hate is a liar and now it was coupled with disrespect. This is my second time ordering here because its tasted good the first time. Service is terrible.
Been coming here since I was a fetus. (in my mom). Some times Im surprised by how much a burger costs (the prices have gone up over the years. I think from less than $10 to $10+ for just a burger) but! They are large enough for 2-3 people to share. Yeah massive. And if you get fries and toppings - family meal. Still tastes great after all these years. I no longer eat beef, but the turkey burgers are slammin and still huge. The chicken fingers parm hero on garlic bread is delish and served with yummy potato salad.Love the vanilla milk shake (haagen daas, I believe).I love the old school charm of the interior and how it is located below (ground) a brownstone I believe.Dine it gets you pickles at the table. Love those things.
Food is good and delivery is prompt. I eat at this place way too much haha-love the fact that its not just basic diner fare, they also have some mexican stuff on their menu-the nachos are pretty good. They also have a portobello mushroom appetizer on the menu that I like and order a lot. Place is a little cramped, but if Im hungry and craving Jackson Hole, the small space wont keep me from visiting.
Our go to spot every 4 weeks when we hit the eye and ear hospital. Only once was the food off with an overcooked burger and soggy fries. But every ones entitled to inconsistency here and there but - sorry - no 5 stars for this. In Westchester its tolerated but not in this dog-eat-dog world of NYC. But look at the onion rings....
I was looking forward to eating here because I heard the burgers were so good. The burger was pretty good buy the service was horrible. we waited a whole hour just ti get our good and it wasnt even that crowded. The waiter forgot to put our order in and was not pleasent. would not visit this location again. very disappointed

2022-01-18We had a great experience! After one day of tourism we wanted a place to enjoy a very good burger so we found this one and didn’t disappoint us. Sizes are huge (at least for Europeans) so I had enough with one burger and no chips. My boyfriend added chips and he couldn’t finish it. We will come back!

2022-06-17The tables downstairs are nice, kinda feel like you’re out of Manhattan for a minute.Service was decent—nothing crazy.Took quite some time for the food to come even though they were not busy (maybe they have lots of deliveries?)Got the classic burger it was pretty good, like 10/10. Definitely messy to eat since it’s very big!Got a chocolate lava for dessert, it was ok, would not suggest it.

2022-03-06Come here hungry (REALLY HUNGRY) and prepare to get your hands dirty because its going to get messy.I had the biggest burger that I ever had customized with American cheese, bacon, & mushrooms & fries on the side. I had to get the fries, pickles, and coleslaw to carry out because the my custom burger got me so full I couldnt finish my meal. With this location close to a number of bus and subway lines and the Ed Koch bridge in close proximity, its relatively easy to come here.

2021-08-26My burger was delicious and the JH milkshake is definitely one to try if you are a peanut butter fan. The service was great and the staff, friendly and professional. Its nice to know much hasnt changed in the way of flavor and portions. Will happily go back. Theres more than burgers on the menu too!

2021-10-28Outstanding burgers and sandwiches! Stumbled upon this place while waiting to get into Serendipity for dessert, and could not have been happier with our decision. It was me, my wife and our pre-teen son, and we had a wonderful time. As you can see, the basic burger is HUGE - my son could barely eat half. I got the mac n cheese chicken sandwich with an extra side of broccoli and couldnt finish it. But its more than just huge portions, the food is really, really good. Its a fun environment too, and if there was one local to where we live (we were doing a mini vaca to NYC) then it would be one of our go-to spots, no doubt.

2022-04-06Havent been there in years but plan to make another appearance real soon. Remembering the savory flavor of those assorted burgers; mine was the Wyoming burger...as of this comment I dont know if its still on the menu. Loved the pickles too! Great spot!

2022-05-03This has been our go to burger spot for well over 20 years . We usually meet up with a few of our long time friends for a late dinner. Now I will tell you come with a big appetite to eat . Most of the burgers come packed with many toppings and cooked to your liking . They have other options but our go to is the burgers and curly or steak fries are a must . Prices are average especially for the serving size . The staff is awesome they know us well😜. So if you are visiting the city definitely hit up this spot and FYI they have a few other locations in different parts of NYC. I tried the truffle Mac n cheese burger 👍🏼 . My husbands go to burger is the Western burger and my daughter loves spice so she went with the pineapple siracha.

2022-03-02Fantastic burgers in a homey atmosphere. Burgers are big enough to split between two people. Servings are huge. Burgers are freshly made with a mountain of fixings. There are burgers for everyone from the classical to a spicy burger and more. A must go for fans of burgers

2022-02-08All I can say is OMG the burgers are huge, lean, fresh, juicy and cooked perfectly. I really enjoy their complimentary pickles and side of coleslaw. This is my favorite casual burger restaurant. They have an outdoor space too. My sister loved the burger and steak fries as well.
