If I could give zero stars, I would. The level of care I received here was atrocious. I waited for over 8 hours just to leave unsatisfied. I never got to speak with a doctor, and nurses were too preoccupied laughing and speaking with one another. Nurses there really hate their jobs. Most show absolutely no level of professionalism. Do yourself a favor and research emergency medical centers that are actually worth your time. You would be doing yourself a huge Injustice by expecting emergency services from Jacobi Medical Centers Emergency Department.
8/23/18- pediatric ERWe Arrived at the hospital at 12 am and my son was discharged at 1:40 am. The waiting time was not bad at all ! I really like the the doctors that took care of my son. They were very kid friendly especially the supervising doctor she was just great! My son laughed even though he hated the fact that he was at the hospital and of course sick. What kid likes being at the hospital? The nurse at the traige very nice ! The reason why i gave them a 4 star was the nurse at registration. She was so rude not even a hi how can i help u. All she asked what was wrong with him and sign in. The other lady at registration was alot better however when i gave her my id along with my sons insurance she said she didnt need my id we dont care about u. It seem like she was playing around however i dont think it was very nice of her.
I was a little hesitant to bring my son to Jacobi hospital ER due to the negative reviews. I took a chance and I’m glad I did. I don’t regret my decision. I waited an hour before my son was seen by Dr. Meltzer and Dr. Emmanuelle. I’m thankful that both doctors were on call that night. They’re great with children and made my son feel at ease. Dr. Meltzer explained to my son in detail what was going to be done before Dr. Emmanuelle did my sons stitches. He didn’t feel any pain or discomfort. Dr. Meltzer and Dr. Emmanuelle make a great team and are great with children. I’m grateful to them how they cared for my son.
If I couldve gave a 0 rating I would. This the worse ER I have ever been . spent about 30min just to go to the triage and spent 4h after the traits without been seeing by any nurse while people that came after went through. They have no sense of urgency. The front desk was helpful but still 4h after triage and still disnt see a nurse yet. Always happening in under served areas .
9+ hours at the emergency room..to get checked up for a virus of food poisoning that my body been fighting for 6 days , even explaining they pain that I been and still dealing with to this day and 9+ hours later still waiting while being ignored. literally everyone that came after me were being discharged . I still dont know how serious my condition . If anything happens to me I hope one family member will stumble upon this review and take lawful action. For ignoring to help me.
Like any other city hospital this is a very busy emergency section, some people might think that they r slow, but obviously their is a lot that’s going on behind the scene . To my experience they r constantly working to get the most priority patient get service first. Good nurses and doctors.
At 6:52 I signed my son in to have his sutures removed from a car accident we were in 11 days prior. We was discharged from the ER at 11:17pm. There is no reason why a suture removal would take 4 hrs. When asked to speak to the ER manage Mr. Worthy at 9:31 he did not have the decency to speak to me at least at 11pm.
Im in the ER .. Ive been here since 8 pm.I have a cut on my finger and i need to get stitches.. I still havent been seen and currently it is 12:43 am..There are patiens here whove been here since 7:15. Thats over 5 hours and 30 minutes..this is insane..We need stitches.. we cant be in a hospitals ER for almost 6 hours to just get a stitch! The city needs to check up on the hospital!
Disgusting staff and hospital. I had liver failure and was throwing up violently and so lightheaded and turning yellow. They told me there was nothing they can do and had me wait 3 hours in the waiting room. The nurse told me he was tired. I was screamed at by old lady at desk and ignored by black lady. Security card was kicking people’s purses. Worst expirience of my life. Don’t go!!!!

Took my grandbaby to pediatrics emergency room, thought because it was empty. I would be seen promptly. After sitting for an hour grandbaby starts to cry that she couldnt take the headache I go to the nurse ( Dana) wouldnt give last name. Asked for tylenol her response was to call hospital police. Wasnt rude or disrespectful to the point that hospital police told me to call patient relations. But of course they are gone for the day. From my point it seemed like she was racist. Its a shame that you go for help and not only the nurses act like they get to choose who gets seen and over use their power. Jacobi needs to have patient relation there after four. Ppl are not only patients 9 to 4. Disgusted with her treatment. Wouldnt take my puppy to pediatric. Dana should be ashamed of her racist self. She in the wrong profession. You know she did something wrong when refused to give last. Makes you wonder that she has done this before.🤔
I should have read the reviews. I took my son to the ER because he injured his foot playing basketball and I wanted to be sure it wasnt broken.We waited 6 hours to be seen. When I complained I was told by an uneducated woman that they had emergencies that they had to attend to. Um hello?!!. I didnt go there to play cards, my sons injury was an emergency as well. The woman was rude and admonished me in front of another patient and had the patient giving me the stink eye.Whats wrong with simply saying, let me find out whats going on, please be patient?. Instead the moron says that she had to prioritize and take care of sick babies first. These people need training on how to speak to patients.There were so many parents bringing in their kids because the kids had a cold.A COLD! Dont these people have pediatricians? Well they should. An emergency room full of kids with the sniffles! I couldnt believe it!Dont go to this hospital! Staff is so unprofessional. I heard someones very loud ring tone screaming obscenities. A member of staff! In a pediatric ER! So many of the staff were just gossiping, laughing and carrying on like they were at a barbeque.DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!GHETTO, UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF WITH THE INTELLIGENCE OF A GNAT!
Jacobi Hospital is one of the worst hospitals in the bronx. You wait hours to been seen by a doctor even if youre in horrible pain. They say if you arent dying or bleeding then your condition isnt to severe. What if Im bleeding internally, how would they know without checking me. Horrible service and the front desk staff are rude. I dont recommend to take any loved ones there or a tone for that matter !
Nurse was on her phone entire time . My chest was getting tight from an allergic reaction and no one cares . I don’t know why they have a receptionist is they just sit there and do nothing. Also staff seems to not have dress code because nurse had a zip up with her entire cleavage out
Been here since 5. It is currently 10 and I have yet to see a doctor. All I have is a sever ear infection. This couldve all been done in less than 2 hours. Short of staff. Unorganized. Unprofessional. I am currently waiting to be seen by the doc which could maybe last another 3 hours to more. Horrible. Do not come to this hospital unless your in labor or literally dying. Hospital recommendation: mount Sinai in 113th street. Guarantee youll be out in an hour n a half depending on what youre there for. I dont know why I didnt go there to begin with.
Im actually here right now it is 4:45am. As soon as you come in there is nobody at the desk to check you in. You look back the triage nurse mouth open asleep. I was sranding in pain for 10mins until the security guard woke up the triage nurse to help me. So i go to registration after filling out this annoying packet, with that dirty looking pen and the registration lady (with long butterfly lashes) come dragging her feet, looking like she was taking a couple shots. (She didnt have a name tag, unfortunately). She had a nasty attitude...smh...never going back ever.
Well, today was a miracle, because my husband was called in less than an hour, for chest pain. it was pretty empty tho. He signed in at 11:00 pm and called before 12:00 am. They took x-rays by 12:30.... I guess it depends on what time you go too.
This place needs to be shut down. I have spent 8 hours in this ER with internal bleeding and left the place untouched. They did not stop bleeding nor even tried. Performed tests just to charge insurance and said you need to follow up with your doc. What is this??!!
The ER is the worst place I had been waiting for six hours , nobody came to take care me . All the nurses and doctors just talking to each other . Really disappointed! In addition, when I went to second appointment, it also took me 2 hours to wait , all staffs seem too busy , but doing nothing.
If you are in extreme pain but you willing to wait another 5-7 hours then go there.There is no emergency room there is a regular long waiting hospital!!!
This place is so horrible im currently in the emergency room. My friend has been here since 5:00pm and its currently 2:37pm and no one has even offered water or anything. The staff is rude and they are very inattentive there is no reason why we should have to wait almost 10 hrs and have not been seen yet. If you want to die and youre sick come to this hospital.
I came to Jacobi Emergency Center to see my cousin he had stroke , and I try to ask a (chinis) nurs for help, refused to help and said to me oh not me, this is not a first happened, I also came to the emergency for my finger broken , last 2016 , they hold me 9 hours in the emergency room with terrible pain, without pain medication, I asked for pain medication a doctor her name is Angelina, but she didn’t give to me , and said he is very busy with other, and 8 hours done her shift without seen me , that’s why , I don’t recommend action for Jecobi hospital, my recommendation is Montefiore hospital,
Worst place ever!!! Nurses are very unprofessional and does not act in a sense of urgency. Their tone & delivery when patients are seeking answers is boardline disgusting!! We don’t need people like this in our hospital while dealing with the lives of others. Today in the ER I was assaulted by the male head nurse who try to grab my phone & swung at me after asking for his name. He did not want to provide his name so I decided to take a pic of his ID that was hanging around his neck.This hospital needs to be shut down!! The lack of humanity and compassion for others is very sad. This place is NOT needed in our community. We need to address such issues to have nurses and doctors fully evaluated and trained on how to properly service the people of NYC.
Worse hospital ER ever and their customer services sucks. Everyone has an attitude problem. Been here from 5:20pm in pain and 5 hours later I’m still sitting in the waiting area still in pain. I would never come back to this ER.
If I can give zero stars I would. Worst hospital in the Bronx if youre a trauma case then perfect because theyre a butcher shop but if youre in need of some professional sensitive medical attention then this is definitely not the hospital to go to.
Been here for almost 2 hours and nobody even bothered to check on my girlfriend, worse yet the guy back their was here before her and nobody even cared to heck in the poor guy
This hospital did the unthinkable and refused to give me emergency health care. The only way Id go to this hospital is if Im unconscious and the EMTs bring me. And if I can walk when I wake up, Id probably leave AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE
This hospital does not respect patient when they are sick at all a manager needs to see employee in the emergency room and call there attention and hospital need to learn to see both patient meaning emergency and non emergency if other hospital could do it and they have less people in the emergency . And hire new employee.

Very very long wait. Avoid this ER if you can. Staff are cordial but very slow processing. For simple thing, you may waste 3/4 hours waiting on line.

Came with my friend for support with her baby at 7. 30am today 6/30/29)Staff informed us that we could not be seen until 8 30am because it is almost change of shift... what happened to nursing being 24/7
I went in with my 7 year old daughter for a uti, I waited 5 hours and left frustrated. She was never seen!

2022-03-18One of the worst hospital I ever been to and it has to do with the Staff including the security with attitude, and not even paying attention to the entrance, the young woman was on her phone. But the front desk especially in the children emergency room whom pick that parents to allow in, I never been so discriminated against; not just as LGBT parents but parents whom child has a service dog. The Clerk told me that they was allow this man because they have two kids, I informed him then wow both kids are sick, what a coincidence. The room they have my daughter in, seems to be a supply room because nurses come and go with supplies. Will definitely be talking to a lawyer after this experience.

2022-05-11I waited over an hour today at other times it would be 3 to 4 hours just for a medical appointment visit. I thought due to covid it would be more organized and lesser wait time but jacobi will never change. Please report this hospital and request a better management this is just ridiculous

2022-05-03It was a pretty good experience. Walked in with my brother. Registered, then we were told to go wait in the waiting room probably 5-10 minutes of waiting. Got called by the doctor, was tested immediately and out we went. We didnt even spend more then 30 minutes there. Didnt get to really talk to the doctor, probably because we were in a rush to get home, but it was okay. The Staff member at the entrance handing out registration papers was alittle to focused on his phone, and didnt hand out the exact address when medical transportation had to pick me and my brother up; didnt seem to interested in the job of cared enough to provide me with the right information. I had to look up the address on my phone. Other then that glad we were in and out quickly.

2022-02-19I had an alright time, considering its an NYC ER. My biggest complaint would be the relaxed mask policy. I saw staff pulling their masks down and patients + visitors being admitted maskless. I was glad to be wearing an N95.I came with lightheadnesses, nausea, and more. They took me almost immediately. Everyone I talked to was nice. Just took too long to take my samples out for testing (maybe 2 hrs). I put on my headphones and took a nap. Wish they had offered more water without me having to call out for it for 5 minutes every time. Out in 4 hrs with meds already sent to my pharmacy.

2020-11-24When youre an admitted patient you are well taken care of but go through the ER... Its like waiting for death. Your given a number to call and get info on your loved ones, but no answer. WOW! 5hrs later and still no information. For a place that is working on improving communications and quick efficient response, they have failed. Pandemic or not nothing has changed.

2021-10-12This is the worse emergency place I have ever been to in my life.I walked in there at 12:20pm and got out there at 1:20am in the morning. Worse decision I have made that year. Staff were unprofessional. Receptionists decide who goes next, not by the order who gets there first. Waited there more than 11 hours. Regardless what was the state of my emergency, No human being in this planet deserve to wait more than 11 hours to see a doctor. Unfortunately I had no choice but to stick around. Hell of improvement is needed in Jacobi emergency room at the Bronx. Prybysterian hospital only for me now.

2021-03-30I went to the ER with my son because of vomiting and belly pain, I waited only 30 minutes, and they took him right in, he had a acute appendicitis, it took an hour after the sonogram for surgery, now my son was really scared, I have to give a big shout out to the doctors that were there, the surgeon, and his team they were great. My sin is a huge Michael Jackson fan, and they put on his favorite song and danced and made him feel so comfy idk all the names,also the nurses were great, it was the best, and I dont regret that I came to Jacobis. Thank you

2018-08-30First time I came I was about to miscarry and they weren’t even going to let me through even though I begged because I was bleeding very badly. Luckily a nurse grabbed me and led me back because she was more concerned than the receptionist. If it wasn’t for her I would have miscarried while waiting to be called. Next two times I had to use the ER, I waited hours and hours. I ended up leaving. They hadn’t called anyone in 5 hours and there were people who had been there 12 hours! The staff was uncommunicative and people waiting were left to ask questions. The staff was accommodating to the questions but you would never know what’s going on unless you went up to them and asked. Poor communication and the nurses are not pleasant at all, except for my first visit , but I haven’t seen her since. I’ll never go back to Jacobi AGAIN.

2019-03-16If its between 0 or 1 Id rather give 0. Mother had chest pains along her right side ribs under her arm and we waited an hour to be seen. There was a small packet as paperwork that must be filed before even seen. Then we were called to come into the Triage and waited another 30 minutes for the doctor to come to us. If its a life and death situation for you and youre suicidal well look no further just come to this ER with a random claim and let nature carry you off. The receptionist was highly rude to everyone. Later came to realize that receptionist was actually a nurse or medical aid. I have pictures of the other aids just relaxing on their phones in plain sight while there no one to take in the paperwork from me and 3 other people trying to file and wait to be seen. For some reason everything leading up to actually being seen by a doctor was extremely horrible. The doctor was cool. Everything else leading up to being seen was a disaster. Please just go another ER if need be.Update: She needs xrays done on her chest.......almost 2 hours to find out its something serious. I stand by what I said earlier, you would come here to die.
