Beautiful ambience with friendly staff. The food is delicious, just select anything from the menu its tasty. beware of your spice level before ordering, as their spicy is like really super spicy. Even spicy for this Indian girl. This is my husbands go to place.Have given 1 star less as I have been to this place several times from past few years and the taste has been consistent till my recent last two visits last week. I hope they havent changed their cook.
One of my fave places to eat in NYC. And my top recommendation for Thai (apart from Thailand, of course). Terrific food and service. Get the MILD as anything more will be too hot. And I say that as someone who loves spicy food. You can always add spicy sauce if needed. I try to eat here 2-3 times a year.
Absolutely delicious! One of the few places in the city that I come regularly for that Thai fix. Great food. Amazing ambience. Perfect amount of spice. Make sure you listen to the waiters spice recommendation otherwise your meal may end prematurely thanks to your gut.
A cut above typical Thai food in NYC. Pricier too, but the quality and presentation of the food was solid. We shared 2 excellent dishes .Respectable wines available by the glass to complement dining options.Dinner for 2 including an appetizer and 2 glasses of wine was about $80 plus tip. Looking forward to returning.
Jaiya made the best Thai food on the UES, which came at a price nonetheless. This evening ordered two of my usual dishes and they were less than satisfactory. Food was exceptionally dry and a strong sour taste to it. Think I’ll give them a skip for a couple months. Sorry!
Pathetic restaurant with terrible staff.Seems like a place that’s just riding the good name with complete amateurs running it without any experience. The manager has no clue of any regulations with a baby. Also, they keep their online reservations open when they dont have any real opening so be prepared to wait for at least 30 mins after making a reservation. We were better off going to Up Thai. Another Thai restaurant very close to this location with a great staff, great reviews, better food, and are honest about their wait times! Some places are about serving good food and some that dont care but just want to make quick money. This is the latter. If I had a choice I would give this place negative ratings!!
This was my 3rd time coming here over the past 4 years. The past 2 times were amazing, a genuine 5/5 but this time I cannot say the same. The food was good but it was the service that killed it. We had a party of 6, we ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. The drinks came 40 minutes after we ordered, even after appetizers were served (we asked servers 2 times about it) . 5 out of 6 entrees were served. We had to remind the waiter about entree 6 which was served 30 minutes later...on top of that there is a mandatory 20% gratuity for party of 6 or more? The reason why I rate this 3 stars and not 1 is because Im a fan of spicey food and this place has just that. This is an authentic thai restaurant which serves its dishes with a high degree of spice. Our waiter told us to rate the level of spiciness from 1 to 5. I asked for 3.5 and liked it. My wife thought my entree was too spicey though.Overall the service killed Jaiya for us and we will be exploring other Thai restaurants.
My husband and I have been going to Jaiya for years and were excited that there is a location in UES when we moved into the neighborhood. However, each time we went, it wasnt as good as the last until when we went on Monday night this week and it was legitimately bad. The Tom Yum Soup was lukewarm, Larb was extremely salty, our favorite Triple Three Flavor Whole Snapper was overcooked, their most popular Wok Basil had barely anything besides sauce and shrimp and even the Drunken Noodles were slightly sour. The food took a long time to come out even though the restaurant wasnt busy. The meal was overpriced for the quality and to make things worse, they automatically included a 20% tip in the bill even though we only had 5 people and the service was just so-so. We were very disappointed and will likely not go back again.
A peaceful atmosphere with friendly staff and delicious Thai food. I had the Pad See Ew with squid. My friend had the broiled shrimp. Everything looked so good, especially the dessert menu. I highly recommend the seasonal mango on sticky rice. You wont be disappointed.
Just placed an order earlier today via Seamless for Jaiya 3rd Avenue . I received a call about 20 mins from the restaurant asking me if I received my order yet which I found odd because the Seamless driver was showing at the restaurant picking up my order on the app. When I tell him no the seamless person is there now for pick up, he tells oh ok and hangs up. About 10 mins later when I check the app, it now says my order has been cancelled. I call the restaurant and the same gentlemen tells me oh thats why I called you I think someone else took your order but it was from seamless. Now at this point Im not upset yet Im thinking ok just some confusion, maybe they assigned it to two drivers by mistake. So I contact Seamless and they are willing to give me the credit for the meal if I place a new order.... I go to place the order and the restaurant is not taking any more delivery orders. I call and tell them hey Im the girl whos food you gave to the wrong person can you guys make an exception and open your delivery window for me? He wouldnt even budge and then proceeded to back track that he never said he gave my order to the wrong person and that he was not sending me anything. Now mind you I stop by or place a seamless order from this restaurant pretty frequently as I manage a surgery center nearby and yet even though they messed up the entire thing he wouldnt budge and then proceeded to lie and was extremely rude. Told me he did not care if I left a negative review and that right now hes in charge and refused to put me on the phone with anyone else. I will NEVER again be ordering or stepping foot in Jaiya again.
This has been a favorite spot in New York City since my brother and his wife have given us reason to visit the big city a couple times per year. The pork pao lo is one of my favorite entrees on the entire planet, and the volcano soup is the perfect appetizer to match. Its beautifully decorated and doesnt seem like the kind of place that would want kids, but weve almost always had to take ours and theyve always been very accommodating though there isnt much on the menu for little ones.
I bought fried whole snapper fish to go because I have had it many times at there location. I picked up the fish unknown to me that the fish was not good. I called back and told them the fish is not good and asked that they replace it with something else. I came back to return the fish untouched and pick up my replacement order. The manager in charge refused to give me back my partial refund in cash and instead said it will be a store credit with no store credit receipt given to me. They have no policy on their receipt stating that there is no cash refund but she insisted that it’s there policy. The Manager Ann serving me was also very rude during the conversation. I have eaten at this location more than 10 times with friends and family and have placed to go others before. This was not the experience expected especially when they knew I was a regular and it’s the first time I had to give them such feedback.
I came to these place as a surprised for my birthday Jaiya is one of my favorite Thai food spots in the city. The atmosphere when you walk in is very calm and relaxing. They have a waterfall on the back wall and their seating is very comfortable. Its a perfect place to come on a dateTheir food is also amazing!
Hannah the waitress has a bad attitude and is a liability to the restaurant. Completely rude to my family and behaved as if she is doing such a huge favor by attending to us.Her demeanor is shameful.Manager didn’t even apologize for her behavior after we brought it up to her, just made excuses. The owner of this place needs to re-assess who they are hiring.Owner can contact me if they want to know more. Just reply to this review with a direct phone number.
I wish I could say - I had the best experience. Sadly I can not. I want to support our local businesses and restaurants during these uncertain times. I have ordered from Jaiya in the past and it was always great. I ordered dinner about a week ago and it was disgusting...Like something out of bad eposode of Gordon Ramsey. I did call a gave my feedback in a poltie manner. This is somthing I would not normally do but wanted to continue my relationship with Jaiya, and sure it was just a fluke. Paul answered my call who assured me there were missing their real chef and appoligezed. Paul said his chef was coming back and we agreed the next time would be complemently. This was not the case when I called back yesterday. Paul was playing games and made me very uncomfortable. It went from being comped to 15% off the dinner, to trying to give me 3 kinds of rice. When I went to pick up the order, it was even more confusing. I could go on (so much more) but I will stop here...and I will stop from ever going there again.
Sorry to see a downfall on service and the quality of food. I was there with my team thinking its the same taste and service what I would get in the past but I was wrong. Server did not care to explain the menu or answer the question in right manner. Food was tasting like vinegar over power taste. I just wish them luck to train their staff how to give a service and more education on what customer is looking for.
OMG the atmosphere is very welcoming, the food is exactly as described by the add, it is Divine, just . Divine. The duck is delicious their calamari is special. Every thing that we had was delish. The fry ice cream surely was a first and I am NOT an ice cream person, but this one is exceptional. Thanks to my husband for taking me there.Well done Jaiya
The Soups are a must. Volcanic display but the fire is in the flavor!! MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmNoodles, vegetarian duck and curries are all delicious. Skip dessert.Cool the fire with insomniac cookies next door. Order on the app beforehand, so youll have warm and fresh cookies when you reach.
Decor was nice but area is cramped and ended up sitting in a cramped nook next to the bar. The waitress was completely robotic did not greet us or even ask us if we wanted anything to drink or what we wanted to start off with just are you ready to order. The fish cakes were overcooked and chewy, the sauce for the crab entree had no distinct taste and was more along the lines of west Indian curry flavor NOT THAI! Extremely disappointed and was ready to just walk out.
Placed a large order over the phone, including green curry, which did not come with rice. When I called to ask why, the person claimed she asked during the call, and rice was declined.Having never ordered green curry without rice ... I politely said I did not hear the question, but the phone person belligerently kept insisting I did ask you, and added if you want rice, youll have to pay for it - $1.50 per portion. So ... having just received a nearly $100 order, they chose to unpleasantly argue over rice and lost a future customer for a $1.50 portion of rice.Fortunately, many other good Thai food options on 2nd avenue.
Jaiya is one of my favorite Thai food spots in the city. The atmosphere when you walk in is very calm and relaxing. They have a waterfall on the back wall and their seating is very comfortable. Its a perfect place to come on a date or with a group of friends.Their food is also amazing! Their medium spice is like normal places hot. So if you like spice but not too much I would get mild to medium spice. Well accept for the Green Curry chicken. The Green Curry is my favorite curry out of all the types they have. But it is more of a mild curry. So to get more spice I would suggest getting that dish medium. However everything else I would suggest getting mild to medium. For some reason when you get dishes during the lunch time they put less spice. When I say Mild to Medium during lunch hour, it tastes like there is no spice. So usually for lunch I say Mild to Medium but closer to Medium. All the dishes at Jaiya are amazing! Every time I go there I try to get something new. I have not been disappointed yet!! Also they have really great drinks! I have not been disappointed with the drinks either!
I wouldnt even give it a 1 star only had to cause that was my only option. Food was not worth the money, but service and wait time was horrible. Manager was not helpful and very rude. Would never go back. There are so many Thai restaurant in NYC and this would not be a place I would every recommend to anyone.
I had an horrible experience with the day of the week! Your service was another day of the week, the beginning! 🙃 My time was precious but exhausted with thought. Attitude into play like basketball on the side. Im like fries, over sized. (Personal information) please help me from these abominations

2021-04-06Ordered takeout - crispy vegetable rolls and pad thai. Order was ready way ahead of schedule. The rolls didnt retain the crisp after a day, but were still good. The pad thai is amazing! Id asked for medium spicy level but was still struggling. Good quantity, and very delicious.

2017-05-30The best Thai food in NYC, food is great, ambient is very nice, wait staff nice and attentive. Prices are reasonable. Very broad choice of appetizers and other dishes. Cocktails are good too. I recommend this place.

2018-11-03Upscale Thai fare in a small but meticulously decorated space. The staff is extremely friendly and they will even order things for you that are not on the menu (I asked for a Phat si-io or Pad See Ew and they happily obliged).Worth a mention: the Thai spice inspired cocktails. Try the Tamarind spiced take on the traditional Ild Fashioned.

2017-05-19Really cute. Great atmosphere. Attentive, fast wait staff. I thought the pricing was more than the listed $$ (It was like $7 for the fried spring rolls)Would recommend it because it was excellent but it was a bit more money than I expected.

2022-01-24Food is pretty good, but the murray hill location is more comfortable. Experience with service was not good/rude but might be specific to our server.

2016-12-18Nice ambience for a Thai restaurant. The food is well prepared, more elaborated and better presented to the table than the traditional thai around, which make worth a visit.

2019-06-19We have always gone to the Downtown Jaiya Thai and always had a pleasant experience in regards to food. This past Saturday we went to the Uptown location and did not enjoy our appetizers at all. We ordered chicken satay which had no flavor at all. The vegetarian Tom Yum Soup tasted like it had fish sauce which the waiter confirmed it did not. Mind you the soup came out just slightly warm. We had ordered number 3 spice level which in the past was always hot but this time around it was very mild. On top of it the soup had a very sour taste. Another appetizer dish we ordered was some crunchy noodle which was nothing but sweet and that was spice level 4. One of drinks came out super sour which they were nice enough to change. We had asked the waitress why the food was different when its a franchise restaurant. She said this restaurant does have a different twist to there recipes and is alittle different than the other Jaiya Thai. If we have known this we would have gone to the Downtown Jaiya Thai for sure. With the horrible experience we had the appetizers we had decided not to order any entrees and just went somewhere else for dinner. Even with just the appetizers and drinks we wound up paying an arm and leg. Will not be going for there ever!
