Jakes Steakhouse in other cities:
The food at this restaurant is simply amazing!!!! My husband loves the thick cut smoked bacon and 35 day aged steak. I love the calamari and lobster tail. The sautéed spinach and lobster Mac and cheese side orders are so divine. So much flavor and so delicious, we love Jakes!!! One of the top restaurants in Long Island!!!
Last night I posted a review, and this morning it mysteriously disappeared. We had a great dinner (Patrick our server was good) it was Paul who was rude, the football game was on and my husband was cheering. Instead of Paul pulling him aside, he yelled across the bar stating he will shut the TV off if he didnt stop. Its funny to say because were a couple in our 50s, not some teenagers hanging out at a bar. Paul it wasnt very nice and thats not management behavior, next time dont put the game on.Signed East Meadow regulars. Thanks.
Service was not the best. We went for restaurant week on a Friday night. We weren’t asked what we wanted to eat until half an hour after we were seated. We got our appetizers before bread, which we had to ask for twice. I could’ve made the Pasta primavera better at home. Steak was dry. Croquettes had bacon which wasn’t listed on the menu & I specifically do not eat bacon at all. It’s not that fancy and this is basically an older crowd hang out spot (at the bar). Apple crumble dessert was so good though!
Jakes Steakhouse offers you a great variety of choices in foods whereas several other steakhouses seem to have a more limited menu. From excellent beef, they also offer fresh fish, seafood, lamb, pork, vegetables, chicken, and pasta entrees. Their side list is equally impressive giving you ample opportunity to craft a delicious meal of all your favorites. While dining here recently for a festive lunch, I started with Littleneck Clams that was a sweet treat for a 60-degree day in December. For our entrees, we enjoyed Steak Tidbits on Garlic Toasted Bread, dappled with creamy cheese and caramelized onions. I opted for grilled salmon, sweet potato, and steamed seasonal vegetables. It was a delicious combination of flavors so much so I went home without a doggie bag! For dessert, we had Creme Brulee and Chocolate Mousse Cake. These decadent, visually impressive desserts were sublime! So when looking for a cozy, romantic spot serving an excellent choice in foods, Jakes has plenty to offer!
Been meaning to visit Jakes in East Meadow for awhile now. Finally, made it. Reserved an outside table for 10 for a special occasion. It happened to be great weather for us to add to great service and food! The food was delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant and not crowded. The bartender (Cori) was phenomenal on every level. He was a 5 star in hospitality. Our waitress was kind, informative, and attentive to our needs. Thank you for an overall great experience. We will be back!
The service is phenomenal. The oysters and clams are perfectly fresh and flavorful, it didnt even need the accoutrement and the cocktail shrimp were massive! Our entrées were delicious I docked a star because the zinfandel listed on the menu is actually a blend and if youre going to pay the restaurant mark-up for a bottle of wine there should be truth in advertising as to what youre getting.
While the staff and food were beyond great (the french onion soup and filet mignon)--It was FREEZING inside and took a little bit longer than expected to get our food. To the point of other tables were leaving earlier than they hoped and we were about to get our entrees to go since our 4 yr old was falling asleep at the table. We waited atleast 40 minutes for our steaks (maybe it was Covid staffing restrictions??) Will definitely go again if we are in the area but hope to set a quicker expectation for our dinners.
So this as been my second time here and let me tell u how disappointed I am. My wifes Lobster was dry and the shrimp was over cooked. I dont mind paying but I expect to get top notch quality especially for the prices. I wont be going back here anytime soon. Rather go to a diner and enjoy a meal for 3 quarters less of the price.
So glad i tried this place last night. it’s very close to my home and it was outstanding. our server was incredibly nice and friendly and helpful with the menu both with drinks and food. always pleasant. my friend impressively got the porterhouse for two and finished it. but it was huge. definitely big enough for two people normally. i had the filet mignon which was easily 12 ounces and cookedto perfection. had a few drinks by way of recommendation from our server and they were excellent as well. so happy to find an alternative to rothmans which i haven’t been very happy with lately. will definitely return and hopefully get the same server again.
Went on a Sunday late afternoon, restaurant wasn’t too packed, we were greeted by the hostess once we walked in and immediately seated. I really wanted to love this restaurant based on all of the great reviews but they fell short with the customer service. I’m giving 3 stars mainly based on the service we received, otherwise the food was delicious. Maybe our waiter was having a bad day because she wasn’t nice and lacked some common courtesy etiquette. I overheard the next table’s waiter introduce herself by name and with a welcoming tone, our waiter didn’t mention her name (I wish I asked for it so I can include it in this review), looked annoyed to be serving us and gave us this look every time we asked for our water to be refilled. The food took extreme long to come out, appetizers took 30mins plus and the main course took another 30mins! No acknowledgement from anyone that our food was anywhere in sight. I actually noticed the table next to us got their food before us and they were seated after us! Then when it came to the end of our meal we wanted to see a dessert menu, we requested one from the person cleaning up our plates/refilling our water and she said she would have our waiter come and give us a verbal dessert menu. Our waiter was no where to be found. After waiting 10-15mins to see our waiter we were tired of waiting and wanted the check. My entire table is looking at the wait staff as they walk by serving other tables and no one is acknowledging us that we may need something, I decide to get up to ask the hostess to please get our waiter because we haven’t seen her in a while and want to leave. At this time I also decided to use the bathroom. As I was walking there, I see our waiter chit chatting in the next room with another waiter!! Unbelievable for a high end restaurant. Still as the waiter finally came back around still no acknowledgment of anything. This is truly unacceptable and we will not be returning to this restaurant even though the food was good.
We made a reservation online and was told that we would be charged if we dont cancel before. We get there through Uber an they tell us we cant be seen because lights went out. No call no nothing to notify us not to come. So now Im stranded waiting for Uber, hungry figuring out where to eat next, and thirsty. Will not go back. Would have been my first time but now I see the professionalism and will not. Because someone should have notified us I came from east setauket to go there. Very upsetting.
I was very impressed after reading reviews I expected it to need decorating and be more pub like, no not at all. Very nice. I had the short ribs they were tasty needed some seasoning but they were tender. My guests enjoyed their meal as well. Very pricey, I am not used to going out high end on Long Island anymore so someone else might think they are reasonable.
My fiance and I went here for her birthday during a small snow storm. There was very few people at the restautant because of that reason, but regardless, we still received great service from the waiter and staff. The food was great as well. I had the shell steak and my fiance had a seafood pasta dish. For dessert, we shared a brownie sundae. All around, it was a good experience. Why is it 4 stars instead of 5... I wasnt a fan of the old style interior. And to be honest, as the food was great and service was great, there are other fantastic steak house restaurants around Long Island and I just cant put this place in that category. If I can give this place 4 and a half stars, I would, but its very tough to say its one of the top tier steak houses Ive ever had. Overall, I do recommend this place and yes, I would come back.
Had a pleasant evening dinner here. I had the T-Bone steak while my GF had the skirt steak. We split the mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. Both steaks were cooked to our liking and tasted excellent. The mashed potatoes were nice and creamy and the spinach was delicious as well. To finish, we had the brownie sundae. Next time I will get 2 instead of splitting it. Yes, it was that good with a nice warm brownie. Our waiter was quick and very attentive. Had a wonderful dinner overall and I look forward to going back again.
We went here for restaurant week and we were extremely pleased. Our waiter Pete was exceptionally attentive. His attention to detail was five star. The portion size for restaurant week was very generous as well. We had the New York strip. It was cooked perfectly. We definitely will be back!
Great dinner there last night. Go about once every three months usually with the boys for a few years now and never a bad meal. Great drinks and great service too. Very reasonable prices for a solid steakhouse. Porterhouse or fillet - Im in!!! Creamed Spinach - best I ever had - made fresh to order and just the right touch of nutmeg......or so my wife (the cook) says.
Great night! Had to wait a bit for our 5pm reservations, but bar was not crowded and nice beers on tap. Got nice table in dining room and service was very attentive. Shrimp cocktail was excellent, the shrimp were very large and crisp. The cream cake was also very good, nice size and no fried taste.Four guys shared three Rob eye steaks and was just right amount; steaks cooked to perfection with nice sear and great taste. We enjoyed all the sides we ordered, but by far, the cauliflower mash with bacon was the favorite! Banana bread pudding was fabulous. We all agreed, very good from start to finish!
I went to Jakes steakhouse for dinner with a party of 5 yesterday overall is was a good experience. They followed Covid-19 resstrictions there was a temperature check at the door and plexiglass I ordered the seafood bisque soup of of the day and it was Phenomenal! It was creamy and rich with salmon pieces in it. I also ordered the crab cake. I didnt like the crab cake. It had cream cream and herbs it was to much and the taste was not good. For my main course I had the Ribeye Steak medium rare with lobster mac and cheese creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The steak was DELICIOUS ! It was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The creamed spinach and the mashed potatoes were good as well. However the lobster mac and cheese was not good. It has a werid flavor and there was barely no lobster in the there. For a drink I ordered the classic mule. That was phenomenal! Delicious drink. I also ordered the espresso martini it was ok just very sweet. For dessert we ordered the brownie sundae and the bread pudding. Both was phenomenal. Overall my experience at Jakes was good.
The service was good. The calamari was good. Sadly my burger was not. I requested it medium well no char, but instead what I got was a raw burger. I do mean raw! The smell was nauseating. They took it back to cook it more. But still it was half undercooked. Ive eaten at Jakes before and had the burgers at least two other times, this was my first experience like this. Hope it was a fluke!
We went here on a Saturday night. We had a 9pm reservation for 4. We were a bit early so we went in the bar area to have a drink. A few minutes later a young lady came to seat us. She attempted to seat us in the bar area which was noisy and sports bar like. I asked why we were not being seated in the main dining room she said oh nothings available. I told her we were early and we had no problem waiting. She acquiesced so we waited about 10 more minutes and were seated in the main dining area. The table had a tea light with a candle that was used all the way up and unlit. I had to request for a new tea light candle. We used the LI restaurant week prix fixe menu $28.95 for appetizer, entree and dessert. I ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer. I was disappointed it was fried in breadcrumbs which is a no no. It should have been fried in cornstarch. The shrimp werent fresh, they tasted like frozen in a bag shrimp that was probably already cooked before they were fried. The sauce was unremarkable no bang at all.I then had the NY Strip medium. It was tougher than I expected but I liked the presentation and the red wine sauce was good as well as the bleu cheese and fried onion strips were a nice touch. The mashed potatoes were disgusting. Straight out of an instant mashed potato flakes box. I was appalled. We wanted red wine. I didnt want to spend a lot so I saw to choices on the menu that were both $39. I asked the waiter for his opinion on the two $39 wine selections I stressed $39. One of which was a Chianti. He recommended the Chianti. We ordered two bottles. The wine was good. When the billcame there was a $100 charge for the wine. I asked him about it and he showed me the wine list he actually uphold me to the wine just above the $39 wine on the list without informing me of the difference in price (the wine he chose was $45). I felt that was fraudulent and borderline criminal. Furthermore, $45 times two is $90 not $100. I complained so he checked and came back he said the manager would adjust the price of the first bottle but not the second. I said oh really tell your manager I would like to speak with her. He disappeared again and came back and said she would adjust the price of both bottles. At this point I was exhausted so I was like fine we paid the bill and left an the lowest possible suggested tip +$2 which was $40. Later I looked at the receipt and saw that they deducted only $12. They should have deducted $22 from the original $100.I will never go to this restaurant again. The food is mediocre at best. And they are fraudulent to the point of cheap cheats.
I personally think it was overpriced for the quantity you receive. We arrived a lil early about 4 on a Saturday afternoon and there was only a few people there as we was leaving it was getting busy. They do prefer you to have reservations. The food and service were good but just a lil too pricey. I wont be going back here again but if you have extra money and looking for a lil meal then give them a try.
Don’t waste your time. Or money. The potatoes were the blandest thing I’ve ever tasted apparently it’s made with “white pepper” and the filet I ordered medium was a mouth full of shredded hard chewy beef? No way was it filet. The manager was accommodating and took it off then Bill. But still so disappointing. There’s a million other steak houses with similar prices so don’t waste ur time here. It’s just a glorified bar that has steak.
Horrible service. We went there November 10 around 8:30. The hostess was rude. My husband wore a hat and was asked to take it off which he did but then right next to us were two gentlemen wearing hats. We asked her discreetly why were we treated differently and she wasnt able to give an explanation. We did ask for a manager but then we decided just to go to Franks Steakhouse because if were going spend a couple hundred along with a $100 tip we might as well spend it in a restaurant where we and our money would be treated equally.
Food was great. Service was good. Didnt fill water glasses at the table and didnt offer coffee with desert. We all ordered off the price fixed menu which didnt include coffee, but restaurants usually offer coffee or specialty coffees or after dinner drinks. Thought that was odd. Refilling water glasses is also usually a given.
Burger was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was good. Prices are a little bit high, but the decor was good. Staff were attentive enough as well but they need to either play music when its quiet or keep people in one section of the restaurant since it seemed a little eerily quiet tonight. Other than that, recommended!
Hosted my daughters Baptism party here. Very nice private room and Surprisingly good food. Surprisingly because I didnt expect much from a buffet lunch. Everything was great from the salad to the ribs to the chicken and the brownies in the end. Very easy making the arrangements with the managers. Great job everyone!
One of the best steaks you will find on Long island. The original Jakes is in Riverdale in the Bronx and they brought the same delicious menu to Nassau county. Steaks cooked to perfection and served in their own juices. Match it with their whipped garlic mashed potatoes that are to die for and the creamed spinach and its a perfect dinner. I enjoy starting with the crab cake appetizer that is large enough for 2 to share and filled with deliciously seasoned crab meat. During the warm months you can also enjoy the outdoor patio and bar which offers the same menu or just enjoy an amazing burger and fries as you take in the warm evening air.
This steakhouse was absolutely wonderful. They were a small, simple yet fancy establishment. Dont let the exterior fool you since it is meant to keep the less then committed steak patron out once inside amazing cuts and fantastic flavoring. Had the pleasure of talking to my waitress and she had said that Jakes was owned by a meat distributor which to me explained the superior cuts. Anyway you look at it when it comes to quality and a flavorful steak that has proper aged buttery notes aside other key flavor for choice cut Jakes was the choice.
Very nice and comfortable setting with friendly staff. The shrimp appertiser 6 for $13 were small but cooked perfectly. The stakes were fairly tender and a little under cooked for us, but we were fine with them. The sea bass couldnt have been fresher but a little small. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were a little skimpy. The gelato cake desert was perfect. The house wines were delicious and we will be back. One major complaint was they never once refilled our waters the entire time we were there.
I went here for an anniversary dinner and was disappointed. I heard great things about this place, but my experience turned out to be pretty sad.My steak was charred and I had to trim all sides to get to the good stuff. Lobster macaroni and cheese was great, lobster was great, tuna tartare was good, and the spinach was great. It seemed that everything tasted great except for the steak... at a steakhouse.
I just came here with my family; the staff and the food was great just wish the person who sat us to our table had made a better choice where to sit a family with a small kid they sat us by the emergency exit door we was freezing and also Sat us behind ppl who were drunk and talking a lot of racial stuff that was really uncomfortable. We made reservations and was hoping to enjoy our anniversary.
Jakes steakhouse is top shelf! You can get anything from a tantalizing prime steak to arguably the best Turkey club! If youre not that hungry, they offer a bar menu thatll knock your Sox off!! The vibe is upbeat and with a pro like Mike behind the stick, your guaranteed a great time!
We got a great deal for a graduation lunch party we had last June. The food and service were excellent and included our own room in the back. We returned for dinner a few months later. It was pretty good but honestly, for this price, would it kill them to include a side with a $40 piece of steak? 5 stars for the lunch party, 3 stars for the sit down dinner.
Jakes provides atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly delicious food. Quality steaks at reasonable prices (steak for two priced at $89 as of Dec. 2018). Ill never understand why not all restaurants have some form of fried mozzarella on the menu, but fellow diners have raved about the crab cakes, thick cut bacon and soups. Atmosphere is warm and cozy in the main dining area, but also features a bar with TVs so you can catch the game. Valets are on hand for parking.
Hi. First time there food was great Peter excellent. All great. Except the discrimination me and my wife recieved at the entrance the white female clearly said out loud I want to help the customer behind them because that are white. My wife was fureresly upset I had to calm had down I want the female fire. His the reason I have to give 4 stars .at enjoy my steak I I noticed she only cater to w customers. Really ?.I want her fired
It was 99% awesome. Only complaint was that the outdoor heater was not working and no attempt was made to fix it, the gentleman who was asked to turn them on only said to a coworker that they were out of gas, so i waited with my wife so see if it would be remedied, but nothing not even an explanation so i asked to be moved inside....small but would have made an otherwise great night perfect.
I will take everyone in my family to Jakes for steaks and everything else on the menu for an unforgettable family dining delight. My first visit was during a lunch break while attending some nonsensical week long training course selected for me by my nano-manager boss. A lunch to remember and trip the light fantastic of one if my favorite culinary recollections of Life and Food in NYC. After I submitted by lunch bill from Jakes to the company bursar for my training course expenses, the company decided to draft a procedure to place spending caps on training-related expenses. I offered to cover this lunch out of my own pocket, but the company issue me a check anyway. Yeah Jakes. Such great food, and service.
Like it here. Great service great food and been to many of the top NYC steakhouses. You will not be disappointed. Had a little trouble with the wine list at the range I could afford but simply solved it by bringing my own and paying the corking fee. Great experience. Highly recommend it. Food is great!
Don’t get me wrong the place it nice the food was ok but not for that price. I usually go to Peter Lougers in great neck but today was booked. So I decided to try this place around my neighborhood. The $65 dollar stake was not worth all that money. The served the food we didn’t have forks or knifes or stake sauce. I think they should have someone in standby for any costumer needs. If you are missing something or wanna order extra you will have to wait until the waitress shows up. Overall not happy but what can we do . The food has to improved if they wanna charged all that money . Thanks
Friday night and the place is jammed. I check-in with the hostess on my 7:30pm reservation before seeing an empty seat at the bar. My friend is early and calls me over. We enjoy a few drinks before being seated. We look over the menu but we both know what we are going to order. Its a steakhouse for Gods sake. What else do you think were re going to order?Porterhouse for 2, medium rare (of course)Roasted potatoes, well doneCreamed spinachBronx salad and House saladI check out the wine list and its between the Amarone or the Freemark Abbey Cabernet. Our waiter, Christian, a very attentive personable young man, suggests the Cab. Great choice. The meal arrives and its as perfect as any steak Ive had. Cooked to perfection. Perfect temperature and tednerness. The spuds are nicely roasted and the creamed spinach was gone within one minute of hitting the table. The wine was an ideal match for the porterhouse and we drain the bottle just as we devouring the last bite of meat. Perfect timing. For dessert, I have an espresso and sorbet. My friend orders coffee with a bourbon shot.A more perfect meal would be difficult to find.Needless to say, I highly recommend Jakes and we will back very soon.
So my wife and I came here for lunch at 3pm, the restaurant was completely empty and we were the only people there. We ordered two salads. 3:52pm and still no salads. The manager was in a jumpsuit drinking at the bar and then walks to our table and says whats the problem. We are never coming back here ever again. Shouldnt be called Jakes Steakhouse should be called Fakes Steakhouse
I was visiting from Pittsburgh on business and Jakes was the highlight of my stay. From the valet parking, interior design, food, beer, efficiency and professionalism of the staff! Especially our server, Lauren, who was friendly, skillful, helpful in finding a dish, knowledgeable about what she serves, and impressively focused on all the little things a customer wants like a water, new spoon, etc. Then the manager came round and gave us attention. Great place! Great meat!!!
My Fiancé and I picked this lovely place for date night dinner and I have to say it did not let us down. I had filet mignon with broccoli and Fiancé had seafood dish with lobster tails. The food was food how we wanted and my steak was cooked the way I love pink in the middle but nice and cooked on the outside. The waiter recommended ice cream for dessert and it went perfectly with dinner. The waiter knew just what wine to pair with our dishes and they knew how to make a cocktail for dessert. We never felt rush nor did they ever push the check on me. Once we payed we sat around for 10-15 still talking and finishing up our cocktails never once did they try to clean up or push us out. Place was nice and relaxed easy music not to loud you can’t hear each other speak.
I have been a regular a Jakes for over 5 years and tonight I have experienced the most appalling service.I ordered 2 steaks and they were over salted and asked to have them redone. The waiter was no where to be found since the manager offered to handle the orders. The manager Chris proceeded to have a conversation with the table next to us ignoring the fact that 2 out of the 4 people had finished there meal. When we finally got his attention he said the kitchen was backed up although there were only 7 people in the restaurant and 6 were already served. Among our dinner conversation was the table where Chris attention was got VIP service. Needless to say Words have been said between the tables and nothing was done even thought the bartender and Chris were available and did not diffuse the situation. I am a 58 year old professional and have never witnessed such and unprofessional staff. I will never spend another dollar in this establishment! The service was deplorable!
The food is awesome and the setting is warm and inviting. The steak was one of the best I have had and the service was impeccable. The bar has great atmosphere and is a great place to watch sports (which I kept doing during dinner). The outdoor patio is great for dining and drinks.
Food was great, unfortunately we ordered fries with our meal. They never came. Asked for steak sauce, showed up as we were finishing. Asked for creme brulet for desert and the check showed up with no desert. Very bizarre. Been there many times. First time we had aweful service and it wasnt even busy. I dont even have words. Our waiter must have been on a different planet.
Great service all around from the valet, to the hostess and wait staff. Inside the venue is clean and modern, with warm lighting. The quality and portions of the food were on-point. Tried the bang bang shrimp, the skirt steak and the petite filet mignon, and the brownie sundae from the prix fixe menu--YUM-OH!Thank you Jakes
Went there tonight for my birthday. There was 8 of us everyones food was just the way they wanted it. Delicious. I am sorry to say i dont know my waiters name because he sang happy birthday to me and he had such a beautiful voice. Thank u again for ur song and doing such a great job
First timer, great stake!!. the food took a bit to long and whats up withvsome of the waiters language?! Wow, I figured they didnt think they were that loud. In other words if customers are wondering what was the argument a waiter had with another waiter (I guess) your not getting five stars.
I love this restaurant. I visit there at least once every two weeks and practically live there in the summer. The food is outstanding, the service is always top notch and the best part is the mealsand drinks always come with a complimentary smile. Keep up the great work
Delish and accommodating! I took my dad and my husband for Fathers Day. My dad needed special accommodations in seating. We were originally seated next to a large party with some screaming kids. I generally dont mind however, If we are spending $89.00 for a porter house then I want my experience to be relaxing , they were more than happy to move us into a quieter area in the dining room. The porter house steak melted in my mouth, my dads skirt steak was marinated and tender. My daughter didnt love her penne al a vodka, but thats ok, to me.. its a steak house, order steak :). I would return again for special occassions. To $$ for regular dining but LOVED every minute. A special treat .
I love jakes! Eaten there multiple times, always a pleasant experience. French dip and reuben are good choices for lunch. For dinner ive only had the rib eye. It is amazing like meat candy. I split it with my wife and we were fighting over the last few bites. They have great appetizers too. I have never had a bad dish at jakes steakhouse.
A very nice place to enjoy a meal with a date, family or just good old friends the ambience is great the food is also great just a little too much salt the servers are knowledgeable and polite, I will be going back to this place in the future and the only reason why I didnt give five stars is because I believe theres always room for improvement
HAD A VERY VERY POOR EXPERIENCE HERE AND WHEN WE MET THE STAND IN MANAGER PAUL IT ONLY GOT WORSE.What an inexperienced care less guy. He was curt and rude and not at all helpful to solving our dinner dilema he actually made matters worse. They should keep him in the back room
The waitress at first was a little pushy and didn’t give us enough time to look over the menu so she had to keep coming back to the table and our table was on our slant but overall very good food I saw online they had a portobello salad but when we got the menu the waitress said it was a special but it didn’t say that online so I went to the Cobb salad very good and the calamari which was very good
WENT THERE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON A FRIDAY NIGHT THE SERVICE WAS AVERAGE AND THE FOOD WAS JUST THAT AVERAGE FIRST TIME EVER HAD A FILET MIGION THAT WAS TOUGH THE BONE IN RIBEYE WAS BETTER BUT WAY TO MUCH FAT THE BARTENDER INSIDE WAS NOT THE BEST AND SEEMED TO HAVE AN EDGE FOR PLACE THAT IS RATED THIS HIGH I WAS VERY MUCH DISSAPOINTED AND WILL NOT RETURN
My experience with Jakes Steakhouse began Monday, September 29th at the Carltun Event Venue of Eisenhower Park. The East Meadow Chamber of Commerces Culinary Delight night was under way with East Meadows finest delights being offered and was lucky enough to sample at Jakes station. Just a dollop of Idaho potatoes and two ample medallion slices of fillet Mignon was all I needed to savor Jakes seared charcoal beef that was packed with melt-in-your-mouth flavor. Served only with a fork...no knife needed it was that tender. The only decision Now, is...Jakes in the Bronx or East Meadow.
HORRIBLE FOOD AND LACK OF SERVICE EXPERIENCE BY PAULIt all started with the fact the this place could not get a simple filet mignon order and 3 burgers cooked properly.Way over cooked and mixed up who gets bacon and who doesnt etc.So the REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THE SO CALLED MANAGER PAUL INTERVENED.....ONLY TO YELL AT US!!!!Thats right, he argued that this is how you ordered them. I said speak to the server who agreed that everything was cooked improperlySo he ran into the kitchen and sent out the food and it was still WRONG. So he continued arguing. The server has now intervened to say it was cooked wrong. The bacon goes on this burger and not on the other burger and they all get cheese....etc etc etcBut instead of defusing the situation....since we were hungry....this guy PAUL inflatted the problem and made it a hundred times worse for us to say......ILL NEVER COME BACK!!!!! THE RUDEST MOST UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON...NEEDLESS TO SAY MANAGER....(NOT)THAT I HAVE EVER MET.I DID NOT WANT A FREE MEAL. I DID NOT WANT EXTRAS....JUST GET IT RIGHT.HE DID NOTHING, NOTHING AT ALL BUT TO YELL AT US AND GIVE A HUGE ATTITUDE.WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS????? OTHER CUSTOMERS WERE Agreeing with us and shaking their heads in disbelief. DOESNT HE KNOW THAT CUSTOMERS PAY HIS SALARY???? IF YOU ARE HUNGRY....BE WARE!!!!!!!

2022-06-21Jakes steakhouse did not disappoint. I ordered the 35 day aged rib eye. It was juicy and delicious and my fiancé ordered the T bone which was cooked to our liking. Grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes for sides. Staff was friendly and attentive. The passion fruit cocktail was real good had to order two of them . Definitely coming back for the rib eye

2022-01-24We all enjoyed the food yesterday. Pretty pricey! Like $$$$$ pricey Nice place . Cool bartender . But our waiter was a ghost. He liked to disappear or walk by our table when we was trying to get his attention. Otherwise id definitely go back and recommend people to go.

2022-02-28I celebrated my 80th birthday with my children & grand-children at Jake’s Steakhouse in East Meadow. We had a private room closed off by the fireplace with a rectangular table. My girls decorated the room with balloons, photos of my youth, table decor & a table set aside for the flower bouquet, cake( brought from the bakery) & gifts. The service was excellent - the waiters did their best ( I don’t know their names, though) and I remember Carla, the waitress from previous reviews. The food was very, very good & the prices were reasonable. Everyone was very satisfied with their individual choices. I have been to Jake’s several times over the years & have never been disappointed with the food & service. It is a must to go to Jake’s, whether for lunch, dinner or special occasions…….

2022-06-30There was 5 of us for lunch and it was the first time for all. With the exception of the main dish taking a little bit longer than normal to be served it was very wonderful. I believe 3 of us had a dish from the Special of the Day Menu, Steak Tibits on a Garlic Roll and I had a side dish of Cole Slaw, my son had the same main dish with some sort of roasted macaroni which he loved. The other folks I cant recall what they had but I believe they enjoyed. Servers were very pleasant with good follow up. The restaurant itself was very nice I do miss these East coast restaurant. As for the delay serving the main dish it wasnt that big of a deal because it just gave us more time to talk and chat since we were all there after leaving a special occasion . it had been about 10yrs +since seeing one another. 3 were from Connecticut, another from CA and I was from AZ.

2022-02-13First time we decided to try based off of reviews. Early reservation, seated in booth close to door, very drafty. Service was slow. No bread or choice of water yet all other new tables received bread and choice of bottles of tap water. Food was okay, value for money?? We have had better at other steak places, for same prices. Overall not impressed.

2022-01-23We go to Jakes all the time! It’s our favorite place. Tonight we went and the football game was on. My husband was super excited and was cheering his team! Paul came over and said - I’m turning off the TV if you keep on cheering at the game. We were floored. Not sure what they expect when the bar is packed and they have a game on. We felt very disrespected, we are a couple in our 50’s and there is no need to speak to someone like that. We don’t even feel like going back after all these years. We suggest they get a new manager. We never complain about a restaurant but this time it was a must, Paul not nice. Service was fantastic. Especially Patrick. Thanks.

2022-03-15We came for the steaks and they were delicious -- the porterhouse for two and the dry aged rib eye. Worth the price. Knocking a star off for a few lesser points:My old fashioned had crushed ice, not one large cube.Mashed potatoes needed more butter, milk and salt.Brussel sprouts were more steamed than roasted. Not much flavor.Service was solid enough but not stellar like youd expect at a higher-end steakhouse. All in all a very nice time though.

2022-04-27Good food, good steak, sides were something to be desired. Watery cream spinach, seemed like mac and cheese you could whip up at home. Thought we were getting the Jakes filet it was just a plain steak for the same price. Still good and cook perfectly. Server wasnt pleasant, everyone else bus boys etc. Were amazing. Would go back. Steakhouse prices.
