My experiences are usually different, for the main fact that I am handicapped and most often in a wheelchair.So here is the part of the review thats from a handicapped point of view- the store is torturous to move about in. I have no idea why they do this, but they have been over stuffing the aisles for a while now. So much so, that this trip is my second in three years. It is bad enough that people are rude, and will push your wheelchair out of the way to get to an item, one that you had already started picking up yourself. Or that they will walk around you to take the last spot on the elevator that you had been waiting for. Or that they dont see you and you get knocked into or worse, over. But with aisle width at twenty inches (I have pics), you are forced to go around or through the clothing racks, putting yourself into a position that leads to one of the above mentioned problems. Try to operate a wheelchair, with one hand, while having one wheel on tile and the other on rug....not easy.Also, when you see the pictures, look at how the base may leave twenty inches, but with hangers sticking out, at eye level no less, you have even less room. Btw when looking at the pictures, the tile is a 10x10 tile.Now for the non handicapped part- the store is starting to look like one of those bazaars you see thrown together at the arrivals area for cruise ships in the Bahamas. Stuff everywhere, on the wrong racks, on the floor. Things from different departments and even different floors. And not one employee working the floor. Plenty of them walking past on their cell phones. I even witnessed a cashier using the small refrigerator they sell soda and water out of by the counter, as her own personal food refrigeratorSo far, each time Ive gone, it seems to get worse and worse. Im not sure I want to see what a third trip would be like. Its a real shame, Jcpenney used to be my go to store.
Missing modern styles for every work day. Not happen with selections for grown ups. The lines are long. And no one knows anything. They had a poor Amazon personnel going in circles, inside the store, looking for their lockers station. Really, you dont know where Amazon lockers station located in your store....it was in and out for me.
This place is terrible!! When you want to check out, there is ONE person at the register while the other ones are walking around and ignoring the huge lines. They never have good sales and their coupons never work. And they are wondering why they are losing business. I wont be surprised if that store goes out of business soon.
After my wife shopping for 1 hour to find a dress we go to the fitting room with 100 things to try on at 5:57pm when the store closes at 7:00pm and we were told the fitting room closes at 6pm and were treated very rudly. On top of that there was no announcement that the fitting room was closed. Will never shop here again.
Be careful of the sales in ladies undergarments department. If there is not anyone at the register upstairs dont bother. We purchased under wear buy 3 get 2 free. Went downstairs because no one was in that department. They said that the panties were not marked correctly and they wouldnt honor the sale. Didnt purchase the undies. Went to purchase mens underwear buy 1 get 2nd half off. They wouldnt honor that sale either. The girl behind the counter wasnt helpful a little rude. Usually very happy to purchase clothing from JC Pennys.
I like this store. Unfortunately, this retailer looks like it may go defunct in the near future.Lots of stuff on the shelves, well stocked, clean and organized. Lots of coupons and sales, tons.Always my go to store for dress clothes and especially suits. The store brand Stafford is usually an excellent choice, but there are plenty of others.If nothing else, give it a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Came in a few weeks ago the customer service was disgusting had a young man helping us was very impatient and very rude was almost rushing very nonchalant my wife and I couldn’t believe the treatment. Other employees seemed more eager to greet the other customers staff on the floor was very helpful as well especially Alyssa who helped us find What we were looking for and was very energetic as well as patient with us
When to pick up an item I bought online,but did not know where to go.the staff were very helpful & friendly.JC Penny was very clean & orderly.the staff are very helpful.would go & buy in person next time.the air conditioning was enjoyable today.enjoy a couple of sales also.
For the quality of the goods, the price was excellent. The help I got, the customer service was good to great. Everything was great except for possibily the cashier at the check out for the womans clothes. She was a little distant and not really focused on me, her customer. But again overall it was a great experience
It was surprisingly very nice to shop here again! The store was clean and orderly, I got some really great deals, customer service was good and the checkout lines moved. One thing...some of my items rang up wrong (all higher, of course). A Manager was there to fix it, but still, if I wasnt paying close attention I would have overpaid, so no 5th star 😕
The store is clean and organized. Unfortunately, they did not have a very big selection of toddlet girls and juniors winter coats. I was disappointed that on a Saturday there were no coupons for apparel or family items. I have gotten some great things on sale, so I will be back.
Ordered 5 sets of curtains for pick up in store same day in their Bay Shore location and did not realize they gave me only 2 out of 5 sets of the correct length I purchased on pick up...I go back today only to have a rude teen customer service rep. tell me he was doing me a favor by giving me a store credit I did not want, and be verbally inappropriate. When I asked for a manager she did not even address his rudeness but took my already bad experience to an even lower level by telling me that they did not even carry the item I purchased although she did NOT check their stock unless she has magical skills that were not visible to the naked eye. When I insisted she go look (BTW she actually found my items) she continued to be rude. Sharon, you lead by example...if you dont treat your customers with respect when its obvious it was a store error and try to blow me off telling me your employer does not have the item AND you dont address your disrespectful staff, I am not only going to call you on it, I am going to make sure I call corporate every single day until you receive the training you so desperately lack. I give 1 star for the wonderful customer service rep I got on the phone who was so amazingly understanding and NO stars to Sharon and her rude customer service rep.
Great for clothing I would not recommend this for appliance purchases.. They seem to sell appliances in a one size fits all type of fit. I have a very specific size of fridge and i new what one i wanted, they kept trying to up sell me(to one that would not fit in my space !).. when i inquired why it turns out they do not have the one i need in stock and i would have to wait two to three weeks for the one i wanted. not great when your fridge breaks
When I was there to purchase jewelry there was only one salesperson there to serve all of the jewelry sections. They had all been scheduled for break. This was heard from a different employee. The line was very long waiting with customers waiting for this sole salesperson. She did an excellent job with each customer in spite of the situation. If it was not a gift for my granddaughters birthday I would have left.
Bought a skillet from the store and only to find out the temp gauge was missing. Since this was bought during store closing sale , the store customer service refused any kind of refund or replacement. Went online to JCPenney general customer service and got the same replies. Cant even give any solution or suggestions, we end up buying a third party part online so that skillet wont be wasted. Totally disappointed with how the whole thing was handled.
I had always been a loyal customer of JC Penney, but it seems over the years the quality of their merchandise has really slipped. The last few things I purchased didnt live up to the quality I have come to expect from them. The mall location has lots of parking, but once inside it is hard to find help on the sales floor unless you wait at a register for the sales clerk to be free. I have chosen to shop elsewhere due to quality issues.
Highly doubt ill go this franchise in store again, just didnt feel right. Was shopping and repeatedly asked if needed help and over the loud speaker they kept just sending people. I got assistance once and was fine. We all wasnt born yesterday , dont harass customers YOU THINK cant pay for the items. The impudence is really unforgivable
Terrible. Waited on line with about 3 other couples at the watch display in Jewelry Department for 20 minutes while the 1 clerk spent the time with a customer who was clearly undecided as he looked at many watches. We ALL walked away in disgust with much complaining. How in gods name do you manage to stay in business? Btw I was forced to choose a star rating or I couldnt post! Good grief!
I only visit this location when im in the area or want a change of scenery. I went here recently to exchange a blouse, I had found two more that I liked. When I went on line the clerk was telling me I had to go to another area for future reference to return something, like Im suppose to know that! Then he rang up the two blouses I picked out, gave me the receipt and just says, okay thats it. And doesnt even put them in a plastic bag for me, so my friend asks him to put it in a bag. He had an attitude, doesnt bother to ask if I wanted the hangers or not. Rude customer service, and they hardly ever have anyone in the departments to help you! Wouldnt be surprised if they were closing this location, and if they do I will say Astalavista!
In planning stages of new kitchen. Contractor suggested we get and idea of appliances we may like. Went in looked around for about 15-20 minutes no one approached us. When we asked for help was told person for that department wasnt in yet (really only one person in the store does appliances). We looked some more then left
Best shopping experience in a very long time. I do not shop in person very often; I am an on-line shopper because my in person store experiences have not been very good up until now. I am not really a JC Penny shopper as I usually shop Kohls, but after today, that is going to change. I had the pleasure of being helped by Louise in the mens department of the Bay Shore, NY store. She restored my faith in humanity with her assistance and pleasant demeanor. Kudos to you for your excellent customer service. You won me over and my family and I will definitely be back! Thank you Louise.
Jcp in bayshore is great, the associates do help with whatever you need as long as you ask, and for price checks just go to a register or download the app (it’s a price check). Don’t have a coupon pull it up on your phone pretty simple. Need a different size any cashier will order it and ship to the store for you. The prices are unbeatable so if there’s a line and you want a great deal just be patient or spend double the amount somewhere else.
Very disappointed with my first shopping experience at JC Penny in Bay Shore. The staff were rude and extremely unhelpful. The store was chaotic and a complete mess. There were rails left in the aisles so I had to dodge between to try get my cart through. No apology or effort to move them by staff standing right there. My first and my very last shop at JC Penny!
I give 5 stars to the cashier Jailine in the kids department , she didn’t loose her temper. I give 1 ⭐️ to the manager on the shift at 1:45 pm on December 23rd. She was rude when I was trying to get a sweater for a price that was advertised they said it was place In the wrong place , but there were several of them.
Very poor Customer Service. After spending $$$$$ and each person at the registers being very kind and having the Family and Friends Coupon on hand, the last girl that I made a purchase from was very rude!! Seeing all the bags I had, she still gave me a hard time for not having my coupon handy when she had one on her register!! After a discussion, she finally gave it to me!!I saw this girl earlier complaining about her day!I called to complain, and no one answered the phone!!Between the rude service, and no price checks, Im done with this Penneys!!
Sorry to have to say this, but these stores are going to all go out of business. They are way over priced. Its a shame too cause once they do, the online prices will go up. Only reason it gets a star as it sometimes has different styles of clothing. But for most things, it is way over priced.
Not an employee in sight. Roamed around looking for a cashier and none was found. Took what I was going to purchase downstairs to the first floor there was one cashier open with a line. I just put the item back anywhere where it wouldnt land on the ground and left. This was JCPenney in the Bayshore Mall. It stinks
Ive been shopping there for over 30 yrs. But this one visit for bbn pictures for my daughter.in the photo section. Was polite and courteous. But the evening supervisor on the second floor her name is Sharon. Was totally disrespectful and discriminatory. My mother also was there for shopping in the home section. But bcz of our service and the mistreatment I highly doubt if we ever enter bay shore JCP for general shopping again.
Ordered clothes on line to be delivered to my home. Paid extra $10 for priority shipping but for some reason one item was being shipped to south shore mall for me to pick up there! I immediately called to have it switched to being delivered to my house with rest of items I ordered! I was told they could NOT revise any orders made on line! That I would have to call the South shore mall to see if they would be willing to ship it to my house or it would be put back on the shelf and reimbursed to my account!!! I told them this makes no sense! I didnt choose to send it to the south shore mall! They insisted I did! I said why would I? I NEVER shop there and am sick! Why would I pay extra to ship all the items to my home but send one item far from my house? They insisted I chose it! I went on line again and tried ordering other items and some items went into my basket to be delivered to my house and some to different malls depending on availability of item! I did not choose anything! So obviously the south shore mall was the only place this item I ordered was available at! What a shame! If they dont help me and agree to ship it out to me I will be cutting up my JC Penney card and going back to shopping at Macys and Kohls! And Chicos! My favorite!
I will not even put one star I had the worst experience I ever had in a department-store the people are like people that are in mental institutions nobody knows whats going on they are rude they pretend they lie its really really sad they have one line for buy online and pickup in-store and returns there should be two lines there was a permanent sign there that said pick up and another sign that said returns but because either theyre short-staffed and they make everybody suffer and people that are trying to make their life easier especially me because Im disabled had to wait until everybody argued and fought over receipts and stuff nobody should fight over 45-minutes with disabilities standing there then the manager says they never did it that way mean while this to permanent signs there if I wasnt disabled I would have ripped the one signed down so then it would actually be permanent because they dont do anything right in the store and they have no manners they are rude and if they not rude that staring into space like they dont know whats going on this store need some serious help Im very disappointed I thought JCPenneys was a household name I gave this place one star cuz he wouldnt let me not give it a star thats not even right either . Then on top of everything else I get my boots and they are in boxes that look like they got dragged for 10 miles on top of knives they were so many holes in the packaging that there was dirt all over my boots how is that even possible did it end up in a ditch and somebody scooped it out I dont know everything from the moment go was bad even when I called the Department and ask them which entrance they will located at the guy at the counter he was on the phone at the time didnt even give me the right entrance he doesnt even know where he is I dont know what kind of background checks you give that you need to get that a people working there again very very disappointing
I had to wait so long bc they only had like to regeaters open and after waiting like 20 min to make a return the lady said i had to go upstairs to make the return only for me to wait a half hour because they only had 2 casheirs! They need to hire more employees! And migjt i add that they are verry messy and unorganized!
The Bay Shore JCP IS A COMPLETE DISGRACE!!!!!! The customer service or LACK THERE OF is unfathomable. After shopping for roughly 45 minutes and not seeing a single employee, I found myself scouring the store for someone- ANYONE, to help me. How a department store can staff their store WITHOUT a single sales person in THE WOMENS DEPARTMENT is mind-blowing. After failing to find ONE EMPLOYEE on the ENTIRE floor- I was forced to leave behind approximately $350 worth of items. If I didnt just get off the phone with Sharon, a supposed supervisor, I would honestly believe that the store was CLOSING DOWN. At this rate, I cant imagine HOW IN THE WORLD this location could possibly stay open. When I asked to speak to the General Manager, I was told oh, hes not here today. BAY SHORE JCP, GET IT TOGETHER!!!! Your store is a DISGRACE!!!!!! And I am seriously contemplating canceling my JCP credit card after todays experience.
Penny’s have become my favorite shopping platform since 2014! I have shopped Christmas, birthday valentines or just the random “just because “ gifts the Bayshore mall penny’s is my regular spot and the customer service is excellent, this is my forever spot to shop JCP.
J C Penneys was a terrible experience. I could not fine anything in a size 14 in a suite. I looked for separates or a suite, nothing. I finally found just a jacket and could not find a cashier open but 2 at the back doors. No salespeople to assist the customer. This was the Bayshore store. This is way the Massapequa store closed.
JC Penny weathered some history at the South Shore (Westfield) Mall. When Sears and other store chains struggled or crumbled during the decades; this JCP remains at the same local since the late 1960s if I recall correctly since childhood. The store maintains a record of fabulous selections, excellent staff, and during the year, favorable discounts and sales.
JC Penney is the right choice for me when in need of a suit for under three hundred dollars. My choices on two occasions this year has been Michael Strahan two-piece in black and the other a three-piece in grey. In fact, my parents bought my first suit here for my first holy communion way back in 1967. It wasnt a Strahan though...unfortunately.

2022-05-18I went to the store to buy a suit, it had a discount so when I went to pay, the total came out to be the full retail price and the cashier told me that the the discount was only applicable if I had a JCPenney card, turns out when I paid with the card, it still came out to be the full retail price. I asked again and she told me that I needed a coupon which is insane because the cashier should have told me from the beginning that i needed a coupon. Also, if it had a discount, the store needs to honor that price, this is unacceptable. I wasted so much time. Not only that, I said that I was not going to take the suit but she still charged me for it, I took it but I will be returning it. This is so poor and low, you need to do better.

2022-06-02Loved it. Husky kids sizes. Big and tall sizes and lots of brands/selection. I love the liz claiborne sales. Always feel like i got away with murder after shopping the sales and the sales are really good.

2022-05-01I never saw a store their start their closing process an hour before closing .... exterior doors getting locked, dressing rooms closed!If the posted time is 7pm then 7pm is closing not 6pm.Have some courtesy and make an announcement. You clearly announced the store closing in 25 mins but how about the doors and dressing room closing.Also I guess a dressing room on each floor would be asking too much. Picked out about 12 dresses to try on. Had to lug them (no carts) from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor to the opposite corner of the store from where the escalator drops off.Absolutely 100% inconvenient, aggravating and inconsiderate to your customers.

2022-05-18Penneys is my first choice when I want to go to a department store. Ive been a customer for several decades. They carry real stuff for real people; especially clothing. You can actually find clothing for adults here, along with all the trendy, skinny stuff.

2022-06-04Don’t bother using the same day pickup option here. You won’t receive any information regarding your order, and nobody answers the phone. It’s the day after and I still have no information, nor do I have the item I purchased. I was never e-mailed an order number so now cancelling is a nightmare process.this is not A JC Penney issue, it’s this store. Have never had this happen elsewhere.

2022-06-22Idk whats going on with stores anymore but the store was slim pickings for what I came in for. Needed 2 suits and it was a disaster, nothing in my size or my sons. Everything was mis matched or empty racks, no staff around for help. This isnt just a pennys issue its a issue nationwide.

2018-08-25Always put together and clean except for the clerance section. Always have found excellent quality clothes at Pennys n and Macys but you have to be there at the right time especially after big seasons.

2022-01-18While doing returns for a family member, I had accidentally left my wallet on the counter. I went back an hour later. The workers secured it in a safe place with everything in it.Thank you to the trustworthy workers in the r customer returns department.
