Great food and customer service was great. Nice greasy spoon cafeteria setting. People behind the counter answered all questions, knew where the food was from and made great recommendations and small talk. Whenever I get lost or need to drive way North for no reason, Ill be stopping here for a great meal. Seating is limited, but works for the lunch crowd.
So we finally had time to try this place and buuuuuddy, we started out with fish dinner and a shrimp dinner..then we ended up getting donuts..we got home and my husband cannot stop telling me gave to go back and try something else before we leave next week.oh and the tartar sauce is literally the best ive ever had, its diff in taste but its a SUPER plus. - Thanks guys!
Ive always been pleased with the food especially the fish and Mac and cheese that had that distinct taste that set them apart from other places. Ordered fish tonight it was not only unseasoned but difficult to cut with a fork and the mac and cheese was terrible!! It barely had any cheese on it and tasted very bland and sat in milk inside the container.
I tried to explain this place to my family, all I could say was it was my happy place. It’s an experience. Got the haddock dinner, fish was amazing. The cook held up every piece of fish to the customers and asked if the size was okay before he fried it. Picked up groghan bologna on the way out and as I was paying the cashier said, “ welcome to your new addiction!” He wasn’t wrong. I love places like this, comfort food for real.
We stopped here en route from a trip in the ADK as we wanted to support a local restaurant. The food was so delicious! And everyone was super friendly too! My husband and I shared a fish fry. The breading was perfectly crispy (crumbs not greasy batter) and the haddock was good quality (the cook let us choose the piece). Lots of fresh, homemade sides to choose from. The tartar sauce, Cole slaw, Mac & cheese, and bread roll was excellent. They have non-fish options too if you want. Our son had chicken nuggets, fries, roll, and dessert and was very happy.
Havent been there in years since my mom passed. It was absolutely the same!! DELICIOUS. The staff was extremely busy but very well organized. With so many orders waiting and people calling in, they worked it like a well oiled machine and the line moved quickly. A north country gem.
You only get two stars cause your food is good, but how many times can I show up during your normal business hours that are posted on your door AND on Google and you be closed? This marks the THIRD time Ive shown up during your normal business hours for you to not be there. I made no other plans for dinner, and now Im scrambling to try and figure out what to feed my family tonight. Love your food, but I cant keep making plans to support you only for nobody to be there during your hours of operation. Bummer.-Hungry Pregnant Lady
I had them cater for my wedding. Food in store when we went in for tasting was great. Food that was at my wedding was not what was represented in the storefront. Pulled pork was soupy with BBQ sauce and burnt on the edges, tossed salad was ok, Scalloped potatoes were cut in chunks for the most part but they did taste good, mac n cheese was average but I am not a big mac n cheese person, baked chicken was cooked and dry but somehow the skin was not browned at all and it was flaccid, rolls were fantastic, coleslaw and beans were also very good. My pick up was supposed to be at ten am. When we went to pick up we were told it was not ready because the Mayonaise was not made yet (not sure how that we effected us, maybe it was for the coleslaw) so we were not able to get our order til 10:30. I made a $100. 00 deposit . I called 3 days prior and made the final payment. 3 days later I find from my bank that I was overcharged by $194. 00. When I called to get it fixed I had to wait 3 days til the person who takes care of catering comes in to call me back. When they call, they tell me me they do not keep the catering reciets and thankfully I took a photo of it when I made the initial deposit because they had no idea what we had ordered or how much of it. She tells me she has to look into the overcharge with her bank to see if it really happened that the money went into thier bank. I try nicely to explain my discontent just as a courtesy to a small business. My parents have owned restaurants and bars and I have worked in the food industry my entire life. I was kind and even apologized for having to say anything because I know how the public can be sometimes. I told her I just wanted to make them aware and was not looking for a discount or anything. The lady was very rude to me and told me there was no way what I was saying was true because they have had the same catering cook for years. I ended the call at that. After another 3 days, with no call back from them, the $194.00 dollar overcharge was placed back into my bank. I will still go in for the things like beans and coleslaw when I am in the area, but I can say, I am not so sure the 75 people that attended my wedding would ever consider it. I will never have them cater again. I hate leaving a poor review. I am not this type of person, but my wedding food was terrible and the response to my over the phone concerns was rude and not recieved as a constructive criticism. Poor public customer service.
Person who I spoke to when I placed my order didnt have a lot of knowledge about what was being sold there. Onion rings are dry mac salad has no flavor 😕 what so ever fish sandwich is below average people brag about how good the food is I guess people really dont know what good food really is . But the driver who brought me my food was very good
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Watertown. Eat take out here about once a week. Fish is fantastic. Ive tried over half the menu and have never been disappointed. Mark is always amazing as are the rest of the staff. Doesnt matter how busy it is always have a great experience and great food.
Delicious fish fry! Very nice people working there. I love the fried haddock with some delicious rolls and tartar sauce, and mac and cheese on the side. They have a lot of other sides too, like baked beans, jello salads, and coleslaw. Reasonably priced. And its local!
The staff is very friendly. Ive been there 2 times and over a week apart and they remembered me. The food is definitely another reason to go here. I had the fish dinner for one and I must say thats a lot of fish for one person. The fish was fried to perfection. Remember I said it was too much for one person? It tasted great hours later. I opted for the onion rings on my second visit and boy were they tasty and tender. My wife decided to go for the shrimp dinner and oh my goodness those were the best tasting shrimp I have had in ages. I am looking forward to trying more on the menu. If you have time stop in and have a great meal.
What a great experience here today. It was my first time in and they were very helpful. The fish sandwich was recommended and I got it. It was great. A big piece of fish, friend well. The homemade tartar sauce compliment it nicely.I took some clam chowder and some turnovers home for later. I will definitely go back.
This place is a staple of Watertown as it has been here for many years. Its not fancy but theres no other place around to get the very BEST fish you ever had. Thick, generous slabs of tasty, lightly breaded, fried Haddock fish. No heavy fishy taste. The fish is snow white and flaky delicious.
I was born & raised in Watertown, NY and a visit back to the North country isnt complete without a meal of the fried haddock from Jeans Beans. The entire staff have always been friendly and helpful. The food has always been fresh and flavorful. Never a disappointment.
I have eaten food here since I could eat food as a small toddler... Has remained as one of my favorites every since... I love how when I come in mark knows me by name an he always makes sure my food is on point!! Thank you!! I definitely recommend it to everyone that asks for a good joint to eat!! I now have multiple people who love it as much as I do! Thanks for your great food!!
The food is good but its kind of expensive! They have daily spevials. Everything is homemade and the fish is fried to order.A great place to pickup a quick meal. Some of the staff are very friendly but some are very testy. They act like they are bothered that they have to wait on the customers. They are busy at times but should always be friendly!
I know that many people love Jeans Beans. I almost went there yesterday but I wont pay $14 for a pound of fish at a place I have to stand in line and dont have a waiter/waitress. Also, in the past, they have always overcooked any type of seafood that I bought. Ill go to Red Lobster.
Food is alright but RIDICULOUSLY pricey! Unfortunately its the only seafood spot in this town, so if you want seafood that bad then youre gonna get gouged. The locals will defend this place to the death but its only because they dont know anything different. Theyre a feisty, ignorant group!😁
Jeans Beans is a take out food service. It is an establishment that has been providing fresh cooked seafoods, chicken, etc. (No beef) for over 30 years. Also has other foods such as a variety of salads, breads, etc. Food quality is excellent. No disappointment ever. Prices are a little high. Try it, youll enjoy the food at home.
Worst place to go can never get a hold of any management. .there delivery driver takes delivers and always makes special stops to make special deposits and sleep with 18 year old employees. . But I guess it is ok cause management dont seem to care. It must be nice to get paid to sleep around.
There has never been a single thing on their menu that I havent enjoyed. Their food is DEE-licious. I had family come in from Chicago, i got the family meal and the next time they stopped by, they REQUESTED more Jeans Beans. I love the food and the family are awesome.
I was very skeptical when I was brought here. It is a kind of dingy building that looks like maybe it was an old auto repair place or a warehouse at some point, and their signage and logos are old and frankly, unappealing.I asked my friend is she was SURE she wanted us to go here for our weekly lunch date, and was vastly disappointed when she was.I was determined to dislike it.The inside is kind of a confusing marriage of a stainless steel cafeteria and greasy railroad car diner kitchen. It is skeletal and open and glaring. I did not like.I waited in line, stared at the fastfood-style order menu, and thought of all the better places wed visited. When my crabcakes and scallops came, I damn near tilted off one of the 4 stools that were crammed along the wall.Wow. They were AMAZING. One of my favorite eats in Watertown. We have been back several times since, and it is phenomenal every time.Sorry Im so judgy, guys! Your food rocks!
Family owned for generations Jeans Beans is in Eastside tradition. Primarily a takeout restaurant with very limited seating. The main feature is fried fish and seafood, purchased by the pound and fried while you wait. The also offer good french fries salted to order and a variety of deep fried appetizers. Hot foods and cold salads are served cafeteria-style and priced by the pound.
Best Haddock in town, Great Onion Rings, good doughnuts. Also some really great potato salad. The service can be slow at times, and they can be expensive, a family of four can easily spend 80 bucks on a meal from here, but the quality of food you get makes it worth it.If your craving some good old fashioned fish and chips jeans beans is the place to get them in the Watertown area.
I recently decided to go with Jeans Beans to provide food for a work party at New York Airbrake & Jeans Beans pulled through 100% & then some! Food was excellent & amazing with more than enough to feed 80+ people, & service was beyond amazing & kind with affordably priced platters... I would highly recommend Jeans Beans for any of Your food service needs... absolutely DELICIOUS & Beyond SATISFIED!!!

2022-03-23Please stop in if you pass through Watertown or surrounding area. Me and friends were on vacation and stopped in and they were the friendliest people weve encountered anywhere. We got a boatload of food and everything was superb. The fish sandwich was a particular highlight with a subtle and sublime tartar sauce. If ever again Im anywhere in upstate NY, Im going out of my way to come back.

2022-05-24Quantity over quality. Bland haddock, over battered. Fries are good, 3oz portion cup for side Mac and cheese that had way too much oil in it separating from the macaroni. Rolls are good and shrimp is awesome. Couldn’t eat the tartar sauce. It was ALL mayo, and not the good kind. Second time eating here and second disappointment.

2022-04-20I really wanted to like this place. I was a first time customer and was really hoping the best. I’ve heard only good things about Jeans Beans, but to my surprise, there are a few concerns. Upon entering, it was super chaotic and confusing. I wasn’t sure where to go or what to expect. I thought that it was a restaurant but it wasn’t. I was baffled at the amount of fried items they had. Now don’t get me wrong, I love fried food, but I was stooped at why they only tend serve fried entrees. The young man at the counter was nice and tried his best to explain how the ordered process works. I appreciate that. But upon closer review, I found that it was kind of dirty. It looked like the kitchen area hadn’t been cleaned in a while. This concerns me. As a paying customer, we expect that food businesses are keeping things tidy and clean so that nobody gets sick. Secondly, I noticed that nothing was fresh. Because of the setup, you’re able to see everything getting cooked in front of you. I was disappointed that the haddock fish they are so popular for was frozen. 😔The fish sandwich I got wasn’t too bad, but it was bland and oddly put together. The sides were SO small! The potato salad with egg was okay. I felt it could’ve had more flavor, but to each their own. The Mac and cheese was okay. The only good thing about Jeans Beans was the custard filled donut I bought alongside some brownies that looked good but tasted like old brownie batter (uncooked). The custard filled donut was SO GOOD. I loved it.Overall, because of the fast paced environment and the confusing set up, it’s no surprise that employees were frantic and in a rush. The older woman at the counter near the cold salads was not very friendly. She was very cold and didn’t smile once. She kept rushing us and even got bothered when we said we wanted to purchase a few things from her bakery section. I’ve worked in food business for a few years and even managed a sweet shop. I know how stressful it can be when things get busy. HOWEVER, world class customer service and great quality food should be number one priorities. If the customers don’t like the food, they may decide not to come back, BUT if the customer service was exceptional and friendly customers may be more inclined to come back. The vibe I got from this place is “expensive hospital food.”I know this is a long review but I’m passionate about food. I had high hopes for Jeans Beans, but I will not give up on them. I hope that they do better and maybe sometime in the future, I’ll come back. And as another extra tip for Jeans Beans, seasoning the chicken or fish could be a game changer.

2022-05-07Good food but way too expensive. 5 dollar upcharge on a 20 dollar fish fry because I ordered onion rings as one of my sides? Cost me 35 bucks for a fish fry dinner and two donuts.

2022-04-22Its pretty good. Way overpriced in my opinion . haddock isnt what it used to be. Rolls are delicious.Overrated. Most of the food is freezer-to-fryer

2022-06-24Grilled chicken salad was Amazing!! We went in for the first time. Asked for something Keto. They suggest their GCS. Maybe they will do a Keto Fried Haddock with mayo and spicy pork rinds! They could reach out more to Keto lifestyles!
