I went to JEM for the first time in January, and it was the best experience I have had at a salon, I wish I had started going sooner! My visit felt so much more personalized to me and my hair type and goals. Even weeks after my appointment, my hair looks and feels better than it ever has, thanks to the cut and the care recommendations from Emily. Em is very passionate and knowledgeable, and I definitely plan on going back. I have already recommended JEM to family and friends.Also, I felt very safe and comfortable; staff were masked and patrons were spread out.
I got married May 14th, 2021 and team JEM did my hair and makeup as well as my bridesmaids. From the start Cece was so easy to talk to and responsive, especially when planning a wedding at the start of the pandemic last year. She asked me questions about my hair and potential hair styles to make sure that I was assigned the right hair stylist and make up artist for my trials and for the big day. Cece assigned Meghan to do my hair and Kat to do my make up. The end results could not have been more perfect! I have long thin hair and my biggest concern was that my hair would not hold all day in the up do that I wanted. Meghan did not disappoint!! My hair looked just as good at the end of the night than when it was first done. When it comes to makeup, I hardly wear any, but Kat was able to create a natural, but elegant look that got me many compliments. All of my bridesmaid’s makeup and hair stayed the entire night and I couldn’t have been happier. The ladies at Team JEM are truly amazing and if I could rate them more then 5 stars I would. They are beyond professional, true artists, and make you feel so beautiful when they work their magic. They made my wedding day complete and I’m so thankful that they were a part of my special day!! I highly recommend you will not be disappointed!!
Emily has been cutting my hair for goodness knows how long! She started when I was maybe in high school and I’m now 25. I followed her through two salons and then to JEM, and although I’ve now moved out of state, I still make sure to book an appointment with her anytime I’m home because I love her that much! She always does amazing things with my hair, and I trust her creativity and expertise completely. JEM is a wonderful place to relax, chat, and feel at ease. The staff are kind and friendly, and absolute experts in what they do. Highly recommended and I can’t wait for my next trip home for a haircut!Here are some of my cuts through the ages.

JEM is a lovely hair studio with a professional staff and great atmosphere. Meghan gave me a consultation prior to doing my color and spent over half an hour with me discussing my options. She is very talented and knowledgeable about hair and I felt comfortable with her during every step of the process. I spent the first 6 years living in the area hopping from one salon to another. A neighbor recommended JEM and I have been so happy ever since. Everyone there is so personable with such great energy. They invest in their craft with continuing education and bring new techniques and products that keeps the experience fresh. Jackie does my cut and color and she is the real deal! She is soooo good and I always feel like I can just relax and be pampered or chat about life. I love the scalp massage!!! I go to Cece for my lash extensions (I was apprehensive but love love love them!!!) My husband sees Gerrianne who does killer fades and my mother-in-law sees Cece for her hair. Everyone there is amazing and everyone who walks out of there looks soooo great! I literally get compliments all the time.
I have gone to JEM multiple times in the last 3 years and loved every single visit! I’ve seen both Kat and Cece and has great experiences with them both. They are priced very reasonably and are upfront about how much your visit will cost. I have told multiple friends to go there and they’ve all loved it. The ladies at JEM truly care about your hair and making you feel beautiful!
MeghanI always hated my hair (said everyone at some point I’m sure) until I went to Meghan. She’s a great listener and knows exactly what hair needs. I always get so many compliments even as it grows in. It’s always perfect, comfortable and flattering. A shampoo from Meghan is an escape, like a relaxing trip to the spa. There are no negatives to a visit with Meghan and I recommend her highly. It is a quality long lasting experience and worth every penny. I won’t go anywhere else.
I looooooove JEM!!!! Everyone there is super friendly, the salon is spotless, and nicely decorated. Meghan has been doing my hair for almost 20 years, and I always leave her looking and feeling amazing!!! I trust her completely, and have NEVER left her feeling disappointed, or like she didn’t listen to me. Jerianne and Sarah have done my daughters hair, and WOW, their skills with colors are awesome!! Recently, Meghan couldn’t fit me in, so I went to Cece, and she, too, worked magic on my hair!!!! I highly recommend JEM, and any of the super talented ladies that work there!!!
I made an appointment with Jerianne to have her shape up a growing out pixie cut. She was super friendly, asked me what I wanted for my hair, listened to me, asked for feedback as she was cutting and asked questions about my styling routine, and gave me exactly what I asked for. She took the time to make sure I was happy with all of the small details, but at the same time she was very quick and efficient. I was in desperate need of a hair makeover and I heard that JEM was the place to go. From the moment I got there they were absolutely fantastic. Ive never had hair extensions before and this was new to me but Jackie was absolutely amazing and I had a wonderful day. She transformed me Ive never felt so confident in myself. I will be back this is the place to go! All the girls are wonderful and friendly its a great atmosphere!

I finally got my first haircut since the Covid shutdowns, and I am so grateful for all the precautions that this salon has made. I felt more than comfortable and safe while getting my hair done. The staff was spread out so there was plenty of space between clients, and sanitizer everywhere. I sat with Sarah and she was wonderful! Did exactly what I asked and gave an incredible head massage while washing my hair. Ive gotten everything from wax, color, shaves, cuts, and even my wedding hair done here and have never once left disappointed. I love this salon!
I started visiting JEM because my boyfriend was very picky about who could touch his hair. We would drive over an hour to his hometown to get his hair cut! Fast forward five years, we now both drive the distance to JEM for Jerianne. At this studio they are not just on time, but they have always been ready to take me early. It is such a comfy, clean environment for everyone. While the hair studio is amazing, we go there for Jerianne specifically! Not only will you fall in love with her personality in seconds, but she is so amazing at what she does. She has insane skills being a barber, so it will blow your mind to see how she also is a magician when it comes to cut and coloring womens hair too! She is up for any challenge with any coloring ideas, plus she always gives the best advice on how to keep your hair dandruff-free, healthy, shiny and smelling good! She really is the best and if you havent given her the chance to WOW you with her skills, youre missing out!!!
Had an awesome first time experience at JEM Hair Studio! I had Sarah, who provided a professional and relaxing hair cut service (her scalp massage is life changing!!) I walked out feeling like a million bucks!Marissa at check in was also a delight! They gifted me a complimentary care package including a leave- in repair treatment and a sincere yet informative note explaining how the products they use are based in certified grade organic aloe vera & pure essential oil so they are optimal for you hair & skin.I also grabbed a keratin repair spray recommended by Sarah, which I love!!!BOTTOM LINE- I loved my experience and would highly recommend Sarah, this salon, and their products. I’ll definitely be back!

I recently went to JEM for the first time after Covid hit. I was of course a bit nervous to be going out but once I stepped in I was put at ease. They are doing the most to protect their employees and customers with mandatory temperature checks, low capacity, and even a separate room for people who are being extra careful.I have been a loyal customer to JEM since they first started, but specifically, Kat is my girl! She is extremely professional, funny and TALENTED. She also goes out of her way to give me product recommendations and hair advice, whether on or off the clock. Whether Its a full color change or a quick trim , I always leave feeling FRESH! Thank you JEM!
AMAZING and professional service from JEM Hair studio. I got my bangs cut by Katarina Chiriani, who is so good with hair let me tell you, and she did an amazing job. I had cut them myself in quarantine and they came out bad and lopsided and she fixed them right up so fast. Ive also seen her work with color and shes amazing with dying hair blond and toning as well as vibrant colors. Shes also amazing at lash lifts and tints, not sure if that service is available yet due to covid but when it is I would highly recommend. Check her out, I promise you will be more than pleased with her work.
I LOVE going to have my hair cut at JEM!!! Emily has been doing my hair for several years now and she is always an inspiration. Welcoming, easy to communicate with, and fun. I especially like the new heated or chilled eye compress during the shampoo, it gives you a spa experience. Today I left the salon with ruby red hair and felt like I needed to go out and shop for new clothes because I was so glam! If you’re looking for a hair pick me up JEM is the place to go!
I absolutely love JEM! I have been going to Jerianne for a few years now to get my hair cut and colored, and although I live about 45 minutes away I will keep coming back! My hair always comes out amazing, and the whole staff treats you like a queen throughout the entire hair process. From taking your coat and getting you refreshments, to the amazing scalp massage and warm eye compress during your shampoo, this place is unmatched. I’ve been going to JEM hair studio since it opened, and have gotten my hair done by Emily for years. It’s such a welcoming environment (always good music playing), clean, nice aesthetic, and most importantly, they all do such a great job. The stylists really listen to what you want and also offer guidance as to what may look best since they have such great experience with all types of hair and color. I never go anywhere else- I live in NYC, and I always go out of my way to come here. Definitely recommend!

Meghan at JEM is AMAZING! If you are looking for someone who cares about your hair and will do an amazing job every time, look no further. I first came to her with a grown out pixie cut that was best described as tetris hair. She evened it out and gave great advice on keeping it even as it grew out. For New Years, I came back in to get a trim and to have a vivid coloring. She did a fantastic job that turned out better than I could imagine. If you are looking for MERMAID hair, Meghan is your girl.
I came in for a hair cut after rocking the quarantine look for far too long and I couldnt be happier with the experience!I had Sarah as my stylist and she knew just what to do with my hair! Such a friendly staff from reception to the other stylists and I cant rave enough about how clean everything was! Considering the circumstances of a pandemic it put my mind at ease to see Sarah and the other staff investing so much effort into disinfecting everything as we went along. Truly an A+ experience!
Jem Hair Studio is so fabulous! It is a true hidden gem of the Hudson Valley, I have continued to get my hair cut there during the pandemic because there protocols are so tight and steam-lined. They even have private rooms for people who are at increased risk. I can not recommend Jem Hair Studio enough. You get an incredible deal for the level of craft of these amazing hair artists.
I’ve been getting my hair done at JEM for six months now, and I’d never want to go anywhere else! Cece is so incredibly nice and a great source of info on everything needed to make my hair look great. I’ve gotten both cuts and color from her, and honestly my hair has never looked or felt better. She even does my eyebrows while i’m getting my treatments done! The products they use smell wonderful, and have actually improved the dryness and frizziness of my hair so much. I love JEM enough that I trusted them with my wedding hair and makeup for myself and my bridal party. All of my guests commented on how gorgeous everybody looked all day and night. I’m taking 5 AM application and hair styling staying basically perfect until midnight! If you’re considering a new place to get your hair done, or a hair/makeup vendor for your wedding, you seriously need to go to JEM.
JEM is the best hair studio Ive ever used. I have been struggling with my hair my entire life and never found a hairstylist Id like. When I was in my late 40s I decided I needed a full makeover and went to JEM - and I became a different person. First it was Jackie who suggested a different style, I was skeptical but had nothing to lose. Then she suggested some highlights and what a transformation - I get compliments all the time from other women wanting to know who my stylist is. Now Im ready for makeup & looking forward to getting a demonstration & makeover from Cici on Tuesday. The rest of the staff is awesome as well, everyone is super nice & they make you feel like part of their family! if you are searching for a new hair stylist I suggest you try JEM first, you wont be disappointed!!
Every time I go to JEM it is a great experience! I always feel so welcomed in the salon from the moment I walk in the door and I am greeted right away by friendly faces. The girls are always so professional and I always feel like I walk out of there with more and more new information of hair care every time. I never knew all the ways to really take care of my hair until I started going to JEM. My hair has gone from being fragile and breaking all the time to being so healthy and finally growing to my ideal length. Also with all the knowledge I gained I am finally getting my natural curls back that I always wanted. I always leave with a smile on my face and my hair looking and feeling amazing. I highly recommend everyone to them. I promise you will not be disappointed and you will learn so much from these lovely ladies.
This place is amazing! I moved here with my wife and kids not too long ago and getting used to living in the area I ventured out for places to go shopping, eating so on and so forth. Being that the wife and the girls have a lot of hair, that hair needs to be taken care of otherwise I won’t hear the end of it! So I was in the shampoo section of the supermarket close by and I just happen to ask this random person if there was a place around town that cuts hair. This very eccentric and outspoken lady in her purple hair flat out says “omg I do hair you should come to JEM hair studios and check out all my work!” Her name is jerianne. So a few days later I decide to check out the place for myself with the girls. The staff was very welcoming and it was a great environment to be around. Jerianne came up and introduced herself to the girls and we were chatting about what they wanted to do with their hair. we made the appointment. Came in and WOW!! The work done to my 3 daughters hair was amazing! Each one completely different but fits their personality perfectly. I recommend anyone who wants to get any exotic color or anything done to their hair and want it done professionally look no further than Jerianne at JEM hair studios. They have never been happier and if they’re happy so am I!
I went to Jem for almost two years and would reveal an hour from Albany to new Paltz to see Kat! She really embraced my curls, made them pop and shine and made me love my curl pattern. She was always eager to try new things with me! She always took her time to ensure my highlights and curls looked beautiful! I miss this salon very much and recommend it to anyone and everyone I know in the area!

After an at home bleaching accident I went to JEM for color correction. Sarah was my stylist and she absolutely knocked it out of the park. I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks! In terms of COVID regulations the salon as a whole went above and beyond to keep the safe clean, sanitized, six feet+ apart, masks on while still proving the luxurious feeling of a day at a spa!

J.E.M hair studio made my wedding day beyond perfect! I originally hired someone else, but after having a bad experience with my hair and makeup trial, I panicked that I wouldn’t be able to find someone else on such short notice. Luckily, I found J.E.M and they had my date available!Where to start?! They were beyond accommodating and extremely nice throughout my entire time with them. Before my trial appointment they asked for pictures of my dress and examples of how I would like my hair and makeup. My makeup trial was beyond perfect with Kat, she did the exact look I pictured in my head and I was instantly relieved. Jackie did my hair, and I was very picky about my hair and how I wanted it. Jackie did such an incredible job working with me throughout the trial until I was completely satisfied!Day of, they were all set up and ready to go when my bridal party and myself came down to start. I came into Jem with years of red box dye built up in my long hair. My stylist Kat was ready to take on that challenge and worked with me over many visits to break up the red and lift my hair to a blonde. The cut with the hair extensions is the best cut IIever had. Do u remember the song by the Rolling Stones, u cant always get what u want? JEM is awesome. Ive been going here for years. Jerianne does my hair, but other stylists have as well and they are all great. The facility is clean and welcoming. Nice personal touches. Love the scalp massages and the sitting eye masks.

JEM Hair Studio is THE place to go in the Hudson Valley. I have been getting my hair styled and taken care of Emily for several years now and I can’y imagine trusting any other stylist or salon to take care of my hair. I am also super grateful for the extra safety measures they have put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep themselves and their clients safe.
I was serviced by Jerianne for a haircut, at first I was nervous going to a new location but Jerianne is the most personable person ever and now one THREE people I let touch my hair. Jerianne cut hair at West Point and so she does an excellent fade which is what I went to her for. JEM hair is clean, efficient and professional and I would reccomend it to any young man who needs a good cut
I live over an hour from New Paltz now, but I haven’t been able to find someone local to me who does a great job cutting my hair. So, I book an appointment with Meghan when I come back to visit. She always listens to what I want, gives great hair advice, and I always love the end result! Highly recommend!
Jem hair studio is the best! I had my first appointment since the coronavirus and was absolutely delighted at my all around experience of my appointment. This salon is absolutely spotless and during my appointment I saw frequent hand sanitizing and washing! All of the stylists were wearing their masks CORRECTLY the whole time. Not only did I love my new layered haircut by Jerianne but am constantly impressed by the knowledge of the products from the staff here. They are educated and know exactly what their products are for and what they do! I cant say enough good things about JEM!!! Emily and Cece are amazing!! I just had my hair colored tonight and the head massage they give when they wash your hair is amazing. Once I started going here I realized the difference of every other salon I’ve Ever been to. These girls are so passionate about what they do and stay updated on trends and Still going to hair shows to learn new techniques.I started getting eyelash extensions with CeCe and she was the first person to fully listen to what I wanted and made them look natural but also giving me a boost of confidence that I needed!I then started getting my hair done with CeCe and Jackie and it was the first time in years that I wore my hair down for weeks at a time.I love everyone I have come into contact with from the minute I walk in and the moment I leave. I got my hair done by Sarah for the first time in about a year. I was tired of growing it out and while i had no idea what i wanted to do with it, Sarah was able to guide me to a cut and color that was perfect for me. She made the entire experience awesome, made me feel so comfortable and explained The Who process to me as she was doing it which i really loved. Definitely will be coming back!!! 10/10!

I got eyelash extensions for the first time with Cece. What a truly relaxing experience! She applied the eyelashes so delicately I fell asleep and when I opened my eyes, my eyelashes were just how I imagined, lush and natural looking. Also the great part about the extensions are that I don’t have to put on mascara. Thank you JEM Hair Studio for such a delightful experience. Definitely coming back for more!
I have been seeing Emily and the girls at JEM for years. Even now that I’ve moved 3+ hours away I always ensure to keep regular appointments and they work with me to align with visiting the local family. Emily has taken me from a natural brunette, to ombré, to balayage, to platinum blonde and back! Every part of our blonde journey has been gorgeous and healthy. Each visit ends with either a perfect blowout, creative braid(s) or lasting up-do. I couldn’t recommend or trust Emily and JEM more. They are friendly, professional, have the best products and recommendations. My boyfriend is also now a regular, my sister had her prom hair done with Emily and we are already day dreaming about bridal looks! Love these girls.
The team at JEM did an amazing job for my wedding last weekend. I worked with Emily for hair and Kat for makeup. Both ladies did an amazing job and were also just great calming energies for my big day. From the trial run to the actual day of, the whole process at JEM was a positive experience!

This place is so amazing! I’ve had extremely damaged hair from it being over processed and was nervous to get my hair done professionally. They have completely changed my view on salons! After my first visit my hair had already looked a million times better. The products they use make your hair so soft and shiny! They really listen to what you want and they staff is extremely sweet! They offer drinks like tea and coffee and you can even order lunch while your getting your hair done. I’m never going back to anyone else again!!
JEM has been outstanding from the time they have opened. An educated and professional staff that always takes care of their customers. Jackie is incredible and has made me look better than I’m supposed to. The shampoos are like mini massages for your head! You can’t go wrong with this place. A relaxing atmosphere with a family vibe. I have been going to see Jackie since I was a junior in high school I am now two years out of college and love across the country and I still go to Jem every time I’m home visiting my parents. Jem is a gem of a hair salon. The stylists are talented and friendly. They offer cuts and styles that are chic and on-trend and timeless and elegant. Emily at JEM has been cutting my hair for years now. I may be a middle aged school teacher, but I dont need to have boring hair! My first day at school after my most recent cut, the first people to notice were actually two MALE staff members! And at lunch a co-worker kept gushing about the cut and my hair color. Which was my natural salt and pepper! But Emilys cut really worked with the light and dark aspects my hair has now. She worked it all as a positive instead of a negative.
I would 1000% recommend this salon to any and everyone. I ended up going here after seeing the work that Jerianne did on a good friend. The cut and styling was amazing and I knew I had found a hidden *Jem.* As soon as I walked in and was greeted I felt comfortable. Jerianne knocked it out of the park. Luckily, I got in one last time before moving across country before Covid hit and I was able to book an appointment when I came home to visit in November. Each time Jerianne has left me in awe of her talent and her ability to make me comfortable in the chair. Going here is like visiting the spa. Clean, relaxing and the eye treatments (warm or cold depending on season) is one of my favorite things they do. You wont regret coming here. They are the best around!
I’m so impressed and happy with my new stylist jerianne at JEM hair. I have not cut or colored my hair in 3 years and I left crying bc I was so in love with it. She listened to what I wanted and went above and beyond. They also do this amazing scalp rub when getting washed and that gets 5 stars on its own!!! So happy can’t thank her enough!

Someone told me recently I have the best curly haircut they have seen. I love that the stylists really talk to you about what you want and listen to what you say. I am also really happy with the color I get here. They are experts and honest about what they think will work for you.

These ladies really go the extra mile to make you feel fabulous. My experience and hair is always amazing! Today I had a gold eye treatment while my color processed and then got a scalp massage when rinsing my color out!!!!! Staaaaaap! Jerianne’s skills are just as excellent as her shining personality! I went initially to get my hair wedding ready and haven’t stopped for 4 years. I swear by this place! I see Katarina for color, cut, brows, makeup, wax...almost everything she does! She also does the eyelash extensions! She always gives me more then what I expect and love! They definitely know what they are doing and make sure when they are working with your hair they do it the healthiest way to avoid any damaging. Jerianne is the BOMB DOT COM! She is an amazing stylist and colorist!She takes her time and discusses what you want your hair to look like and actually listens and does what you ask for! The staff at the shop, from all the owners to Kat and CeCe, are all very sweet and accommodating, and are happy to get you coffee, water, or order lunch for you from the pizza place across the street! The staff is friendly. I liked how my hair came out, but it could have been a little better for the price. The girl who did my hair was so focused on selling me product that she failed to realize that it left my hair crunchy instead of soft and defined.
I always feel like a new person everytime I leave Jem! Jerianne always kills it and gives me the best advice to maintain my hair between each cut! She always revives my hair giving it the newest look each time I go. I don’t think I’ll ever trust anyone else with my hair!

2022-07-21Highly recommend JEM Salon for wedding day services! I got my hair and makeup done here along with my wedding party, mom, and mother in law, everyone was very happy with how it all came out. I was very nervous about getting my makeup done, I can’t remember the last time I wore makeup, but Kat listened to exactly what I wanted and I looked like myself! Jackie did my hair and it was better than I could have imagined it. I decided at the last minute on a flower crown and she made it work with the ponytail and braid I wanted, she worked some magic! My hair and makeup also lasted well into the night, the pony and flower crown were still going strong at the bar after the reception! They also got us all ready on time, which was really important to us so we could take pictures before the ceremony. All of the women were enjoyable to be around the morning of the wedding too, we had a great time!

2022-07-04I cant say enough good things about JEM! Ive been a customer for the past 7+ years. Before becoming a JEM regular, I used to dread getting my hair cut... no haircut anxiety here though! I very much look forward to visiting Jerianne for a consistently excellent haircut and relaxing experience. Although shes my regular stylist, I would feel extremely comfortable trusting any of the JEM ladies with my hair! Its clear that everyone there loves what they do and takes pride in their work.

She was able to exceed my expectations that I had when I showed her the reference photos and she made me feel gorgeous by the time I left the studio. She took time and made it feel like a spa experience, while lightening my hair. Love this place and her! Ill continue to go to her and would recommend this stylist and salon to everyone!

Meghan is so wonderful - it was my first time there and she was so thorough and thoughtful about my hair’s condition and history and my daily hair routine. She’s so great - she’s warm and positive and just so clearly great at what she does. And the haircut - oh, I just love it so much! Everyone at JEM is so lovely - the whole studio just has a great vibe. And their COVID protocols are very impressive - I felt comfortable the entire time. 2020-09-29I went to JEM hair studio after searching for MONTHS for a loctician in the Hudson Valley area after moving from FL. Emily is an amazing artist who truly wants to help her clients feel beautiful, but also totally capable of creating salon quality looks on their own, dreadlocks or not! Offering a safe, comfortable space with incredible energy during times of distress is something I value so much and I cannot wait for my next appointment! Emily was the answer to my hair prayers. ☮💜
