The empanadas are great here, they are very flavorful, especially the mac and cheese. their pastries are also very delicious, the jelly donut is amazing. also, customer service was great. i got my food very quickly, and the employees are also very kind, and attentive. i would 100% recommend this place to anybody looking for some good peruvian style food.
As much as I love there empanadas I am giving 3 stars for the overlooking of there dessert goodie section. Today marks a 4th (possibly 5th) try where I have received a stale or old pastry.I have let it go until today. I bought a whoopie pie. Although flavor was there and why I am so turned off; It was the most stale, driest Whoopie I have ever had in my life.I will no longer purchase desert here as paying $6.50 (as items here are made of better quality supposedly) has left such distaste for me.This is something where employees and or manager should know how long there item has been sitting there. Place a sticker like all other establishments do to avoid this!
I was so excited to try this place with my Peruvian family and we were treated very rudely. I was ordering a few empanadas and asked for 2 separate orders since I was taking them to 2 different places. The girl that was taking my order kept rolling her eyes every time I asked for another empanada. This other employee and her kept making faces and she kept rushing us. Once they gave us the bag we just looked to make sure we had everything and she asked us to move out of the way very rudely. They mixed up the 2 orders and we had to rearrange it which wasn’t that big of a deal if they would have just been patient and kind. Not to mention they kept looking at my mother and I and laughing. It was our first time there and I would honestly never go back if those 2 employees were there.
This restaurant has become our familys favorite take out spot. It is super clean inside, the ladies who make the empanadas are so pleasant and they have great flavor options for vegans, vegetarians and those with no dietary restrictions. Oh- and they have amazing sweets! Try this place out, you wont regret it!
This place is very inconsistent picked up some beef & cheddar empanadas and they were extremely 🌶 get them all the time and they were never spicy. If you want to eat them to go you can’t because the meat is always cold I called to complain about it and told them it’s not safe to serve them like that but they were cold AF again. Been going here a lil over a year and spend a decent amount of money. The women idk if it’s the owner or an employee is just plain rude never says thank you doesn’t want to be bothered. I prefer baked empanadas over fried it’s why I kept going back but will be looking elsewhere .
We love empanada. Ive been getting our empanadas here @ Jessys for almost 3yrs now but after we went the other day were a bit disappointed cause of the flavors. Had some difference. I did call them and let them know what we think went wrong base on what we usually get.
Good food, the vegan options are great too. Not the biggest fan of the pastries they use for the empanada’s but it’s not bad at all, they’re not flaky like your usual empanada. The contents of them are great, and although it is a little bit more pricy than your average empanada you can’t really complain because by have great meal deals. $10 for rice, beans, platanos & 2 empanadas? Can’t go wrong 🤘🏼
This location was horrible. They didnt have many of the empanadas. The ones they had were old and tasted horrible. The employees were neither friendly, apologetic or knowledgeable. It took them 10 minutes to work the tablet to accept my payment. Their other location in Westbury was way better.
I was really impressed with Jessys! At first I was unsure about the baked (rather than fried) empanadas but they were so delicious and the variety of flavors was really excellent. After coming here for lunch one day I decided to cater a friends bachelorette party with Jessys. They made it such an easy process to order and pick up and everyone who attended the party LOVED the food. The bride even asked for details to go back another day. From the empanadas to the fresh maduros, Jessys definitely knows what theyre doing.
First time I tried this place I really liked it. The food is good and the owner is friendly but what I really disliked is the hours of operation. I assume like every other restaurant on the island that they would be open till about 8 or 9 at night considering they serve hot plates. Thats the usual for a number of places especially on Long Island. My second trip their was very upsetting. They have bankers hours. I live all the way in Babylon. It took me over 45 minutes in traffic just got here and I made it at 650pm and they told me they were closed. This place needs to get their hours straightened out or at least accommodate someone who came in 10 min before closing. Ive gone to places right before closing and still have been served. You never turn away customers. I will most likely not be returning here.
I really liked the empanadas they make very unique. The last time I went to Jessies I asked if they had alfajores I was told yes. I bought them. When I got home I realized, they forgot to put the alfajores in the bag. So I had to go back. Only to find out went I bit them that they were filled with Nutella. I know I do not look like a peruvian. I have been married to one for 20 years. In the past they person behind the counter always told me what was in the middle. I might not go back. ... the manager or owner reached out to me. Saying that he wanted to fix the situation. Told me to email him the time and dates I was in his store. When I tried the picture below is what a got. Invalid email!
In the last two weeks Ive gone to the Westbury location (closest to my office). Today was the first time coming to the Oceanside location because of the convenience. But I have never been so mortified in my life, and to top it off i just read A FEW reviews of being greeted w/ unfriendly faces. Boy did I ever...the woman at the counter was so rude, then tried to play it off as a joke. I placed a very large order so the assistance wouldve been much appreciated. Nope, I just got annoyance and frustration from the very beginning. She then yelled loudly no no no! I told you to give me a total of how many you wanted from the start! when I tried to add two more. I actually felt threatened. This is my first time writing a review and for good reason. Who knows if this will even get addressed, but something needs to be said/done about this woman running your counter. You will continue to lose business for this reason alone. It is so unfortunate that I will NEVER come back here again. Another customer loss.
Ive never been so disappointed writing a review like this. Ive been coming to this establishment ever since they opened. I JUST ordered via GrubHub and although the food came in a timely manner, the food is ICE COLD, and order was completely wrong. When I called to respectfully request to have my correct order - they said thats not what we have on our end and I said I can show you a screenshot of my correct order - and they basically did not care at all, and have no intention of correcting my order. I said Fine this will be the last order Ill be making and she said ok. Wonderful to know my years of being a customer means nothing. Ill be dealing with GrubHub now to hopefully get money back. But thats doubtful.
Food is great, but the service isn’t. Not all that friendly at all, and get mad when you ask questions. First time I went it was an older lady, she was super nice. 2nd time a younger lady who was very rude, and the food was not that hot that day, and I haven’t been back. Service is always the most important thing.
I’ve been passing by this place for a couple of weeks ( Oceanside) always after hours coming from work and wanting to stop by to try their empanadas, today I finally did only to walk out frustraded with the attitude and service of the counter women, she was rude and unfriendly and being my first time there I had a few questions about the different choices only to get a look and answer like if I was stupid for not knowing the answer or even asking. I will NEVER come to this place again. I’ve learn a long time ago from a very successful restaurant owner that people go out to eat for the service, the food its and addition becuause with the money you pay you can probably make the same product or maybe even something better at home, you go to a food place for the service. This lady needs to understand this or find a job that has nothing to do with customer service.
Tasty, tender, not greasy and nicely filled...several varieties...beef, chicken, beef-cheese, vegan, veggie, Mac and cheese, many more...South American pastries, primarily Peruvian, I believe...Nice to see a group of four to five woman preparing/ baking/ frying in plain site!!!...Sold individually, in 6/8 boxes...Also empanada meals ...Good stuff!!!!

2022-06-01Workers were kind and patient. Food was absolutely mid. Only tasted good with the cilantro sauce. The BBQ chicken was downright horrible. The desserts (guava and Nutella) were pretty tasty but still nothing to write home about. Overall the food was forgettable at best and distasteful at worst.

2022-07-21The freshest, healthiest, most delicious empanadas Ive ever had. Their most important ingredient is the love and passion they put into preparing them.

2022-06-06I will choose this place over Punta cana Dominicana in RVC any day. I tried the beef & vegan mac & cheese empanada. Both 10/10 and my boyfriend had the BBQ chicken and he’s picky with his food but he loved the sweet potato and BBQ chicken combined. Overall I will be coming back for the empanadas and to try their pastries :) and I love a kind packaging

2019-06-03Wonderful little family owned bakery. The vegan desserts that they carry are always fresh and scrumptious. The vegan empanadas are the perfect portion and packed full of flavor.
