For the past one year it has been our go to place. Excellent food. Anything you order is delicious and outstanding! For all these years we live in Bayterrace, Bayside we never thought of eating there. From outside it never enticed us to eat there. This is a classic example, you cannot judge a book by it’s cover. We bring here family and friends and we are always satisfied. Great food and excellent service, cozy place. Street parking, with some effort you will find parking.
Pretty decent food with great service. The course menu was very good with more than enough food to fill up ur stomach. The porterhouse on the other hand, was bad to the point of almost being unedible as it was very hard to chew even when it was served medium rare but the veal chop was much better in comparison. It was a stuffed veal chop and the portion was unbelievably big.
The service and overall feel of the restaurant is excellent. The wait staff were very attentive and well trained. The food was not worth the price they charge. The salads we got were large versions of fast food type salads. The entrees were average at best. Dont get their desserts, we got the cream brulee and it was obvious they bought it from Target. Ive gotten exactly the same thing just last week and paid less than half the price. No one checked our vaccination status either.
The food here was delicious. I had the fried calamari for an appetizer. It was cooked to perfection. It was fluffy, not greasy and not overcooked. As a main course I ordered the Chicken Francese with a side of Penne Ala Vodka. Also very tasty and seasoned to perfection. I had a crem brulee for a dessert. It had a smoothe consistency that just melted in your mouth. Also the staff was very kind and attentive. I watched and observed another party that was dining in. I saw that they treated them like they were family. Cracking jokes with the guest and vice versa. For me this was a sight to see because Ive never seen that happen in a restaurant.
The best service and most delicious homemade Italian food in Bayside. Jimmy and Al are both a wonderful combination of owners that compliment the experience. The staff is warm and personable and this is your place home away from home. The best part about Jimmys is the loyal lifetime customers that creates the warm culture.
My date and i had a six oclock reservation last night for two, when we arrived the place was completely empty. The waiter showed us to two tables, one was against the wall in the corner and the other table in the hall by an exit. ! We asked to be seated at another table and he refused stating all the other tables were reserved. Keep in mind the place was completely empty so we left and went to a delicious Korean BBQ on the same block. When we left the BBQ we walked by Jimmys and it was about 20 % full. I was a regular customer there and was considering brining a large party there next week. Thats not happening nor will I ever return. Very foolish !
We go here every week. The food is delicious. The price is right. The staff is very friendly and efficient. They are very knowledgeable about gluten free issues. I have Celiac & have never gotten sick thereAlso has nice side room for parties. Had a graduation party there. Food & service was great at reasonable price. There is glass door that opens for wheelchairs & strollers & a small bathroom in that party room too.
Visited on 10/25/2020. Good distancing between customers with indoor and outdoor seating. I was totally fine that they took everyones temperature upon entry to the restaurant. Wine and food was excellent. Service was very good, and street parking in the vacinity was good.
It is JUST okay. IMO average food but not memorable i gotta go back We had seafood special that was not very flavorful (bland) ... thought trip to trattoria 35 was alot better in the area. Perhaps it was an off day. The fact that they are kid friendly added .5 star and service .5 star....to make 3.......otherwise its just MEHHH.....
Food was terrible. I ordered the shrimp scampi and my cauliflower turned, it had brown spots all over it. The shrimp was cold and had a weird tap water-taste. There was absolutely no garlic in the sauce, it tasted like they melted butter in tap water. When i brought the cauliflower to the servers attention he reinforced me that it was just that piece. My wife said her fettuccine had no flavor. I was not offered any compensation or a new dish. I did not want to complain in front of my wife in the restaurant and ruin the night so i waited until i got home to call the manager, Jimmy. Told me to come in and he would take care of me, whatever that means. Portions are small and food is overpriced. I rather eat at white castle down the road.
You know this place is great when you walk in and you see that they have a wide selection of beer in their Italian market. It was late and this is pretty much all that google showed us as a great choice so we stopped in. We ordered, the filly, the Reuben and a pizza. This place has some great food for the area and when we pass through again we will stop here. The mom even said she would come here just to eat, I will just wait till we pass through again.
Food was excellent. What we ordered was plenty to take home. We went on Valentines Day and didnt make a reservation as we were told we didnt need one. When we got there we were told we had to wait. We waited boyfriend was a bit upset. When the manager found out he apologized and bought us drinks. That was our second time there. Chocolate Martini was so good. As was the tiramisu.
I cant believe this place has such good reviews. Very disappointed from the start. Bread was dried out and seemed to be some kind of cheap dinner roll type bread you get in a diner. Takes way too long to get your food. The Veal & Eggplant Parmigiana dish was simply awful. The veal was overcooked and the eggplant was so tough it was difficult to cut even with a knife. The spaghetti with meat sauce was bland, bland, bland. The hot antipasto appetizer was sort of decent, but nothing special and the portion was quite small for $13. Speaking of cost, the prices are too high for the quality of food. All I can say is this place is on par with the local diners. But at a local diner, I would have walked out paying half of what I paid here and for better food and service.
I have been going to this restaurant since high school, which is over 14 years now (back then it was known as Maria). Service is always great and the food is delicious. You know everything is made to order and not pre-cooked as you can customize your food in any way you like. My favorite is when Jimmy tells us the specials, after he finish describing them I normally think, yes I want all of those. To summarize, delicious food, excellent service, and great environment.
Went to Jimmys for a baby shower, so I can only speak to the preset menu that was served for the event. The food was decent, and the portions were large but the service was rather slow. It took about an hour for our entrees to come out. Overall, a nice roomy space to host a shower, but they could work on their speed a bit.
We have been coming to this spot since 1989. Jimmy was always our waiter. Havent been here in a few years. We had a great dinner for Valentines. We were so happy to see Jimmy and the crew. Loved all the renovations and extension. Food was even better than it used to be. Did miss the booths and FuFu sampler. But we will be back real soon. Loved it!!
We looked on the reviews on Yelp for three places in Bayside to have a funeral luncheon after going to Flushing Cemetery. The food here was excellent and worth the effort to find such a nice place with a private room so we could enjoy all of our family members. Thanks to all the staff! The food was excellent!
I eat at Italian restaurants often and Jimmys food and experience is on par or better than any. The food is always fresh and delicious. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. Recommend this place if you live in Queens and well worth the drive if you live within an hour!
Jimmys is a mid sized, simple but classy family restaurant. Large enough to have decent seating on a Saturday night, but small enough to be intimate.I proposed to my girlfriend in this restaurant on a quiet night, the staff was very accommodating and helped me surprise my lady with her ring! The food was excellent and they have a great selection of appetizers like stuffed mushroom and baked clams. The Veal Parmigiana was the best I have ever had!!I would recommend to anyone who wants great Italian food and wine in queens Ny!
Celebrated my friends 70th and it was perfect, waitstaff was attentive and helpful, the restaurant itself is nice and intimate and very clean and we had the event space perfectly tailored to our needs. I highly recommend the veal and the chicken parm is big enough for 2.
The restaurant was quaint and with great service. The food was tasetful and fresh. One issue though, online it showed one price and while there, menu prices that we received was higher. As we researched online on where to have lunch, we read the menu items and the lunch menu price is what lead us to go there to eat. Would a Sunday 2pm meal be considered Lunch or Dinner?
This is def what I picture when I think of an old school Italian restaurant. The food is great, The decor is simple, old, but not too shabby. The service is where this place shines. Surprised more people dont know about this place, but it seems to be full of their standard neighborhood regulars that obviously appreciate quality Italian food.
I came here last night for my birthday dinner after not coming for a couple of years and I can honestly say this place has gotten better than what it already was!! Such incredible service (thank you zack) and amazing food!! My in-laws have never been there and they really enjoyed it. I cannot wait to come back again!! Im really surprised there isnt a line out the door to get in!! Always coming back!! Thank you for the great experience!
The atmosphere at Jimmys is perfect; warm and inviting. The waiter promptly came to our table for drink orders and offered the specials for the night. We ordered a bottle of Sebastiani Cabernet Sauvignon. The pan seared scallop appetizer portion was 6! The sauce was delicious. My entree was the gnocchi with meat sauce. It was a uniquely spiced sauced with a lot of meat: very chunky! Delicious! Big portion with enough to take out for a second meal. Creme Brulee was my dessert choice. The caramelization was superb. The only flaw was that the creme tempertature was half warm, half cool. It was so tasty with the right amount of natural sweetness from the cream. Our waiter kept our water glasses full and his service was outstanding. A real Bell Blvd. gem!!
I have been to this establishment a hand full of times and it okay thats the best that can be said about it. I have never had a bad meal here nor have I ever been particularly impressed. The same could be said about every aspect of the experience from decor to service nothing but average.
One of the nicest places I can say Ive been to.My family have had many functions there birthdays and anniversaries and funerals .Jimmy has nothing but the most respect for the situation at hand. The portions are more than enough and the drinks are plenty .I would recommend this place to anybody.

2022-03-21Food is phenomenal and huge portions! Every single person in our party loved their meal. The francese was light, the Marsala was perfect and my parmigiana was exactly what I wanted. Service was a bit slow but the entire wait staff was very attentive and we didn’t mind it being slow cause we were enjoying the family time together. Minced baked clams were fantastic as well!! Highly recommend going to Jimmy’s.

2022-04-21A fancy restaurant; and by fancy I mean at very least pants, shoes, and a dress shirt.Excellent service. Whether it is a napkin or orders for 20 people, the waiter(s) are always ready to assist. They are well mannered. They know how to take a light joke, and even hit you back with another. The place is very clean and has a beautiful atmosphere. Not too bright, not too dark, nice and quiet. The restaurant never hints, let alone pressures their guests to leave. The food is fresh and tasty. Top notch platters and dishes. For a fancy restaurant the price is pretty reasonable. There is nothing bad I have to say about it, except that they dont serve Pepsi in a can. But in a great place like this, Ill settle for Coca Cola.

2021-10-24Excellent Food and good service!! Was a saturday around 5.30 p.m so we were fortunate they were kind enough to seat us without a reservation. I can now see why the place was so crowded as e everything we ordered was made fresh and absolutely delicious. Service could have been a little more attentive however it seemed only 3 servers for the entire restaurant and thats just a crazy load to bear. We will be back for sure as it was also quite affordable and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

2022-03-28We had very good service and the food was excellent and abundant. The atmosphere was most welcoming as we were greeted bythe host (possible owner )who thanked us for coming. We have been coming here for several years for family & friend gatherings and are happy to say that we were never disappointed. I do recommend this restaurant whether dining in or take out.

2022-04-01Enjoyed and delicious family dinner here last week to celebrate a birthday. We sat at a round table with plenty of room for 7 plus a toddler in a booster seat, and could still hear each other across the table. Service was excellent and personal, and all the entrees were delicious (fish, chicken, veal, gnocchi, and pizza were all equally raved about). Wish we could have tried desert, but portions were generous!

2022-05-10So Jimmys was recommended to me by a co-worker who had eaten there several times. My wife and I decided to give it a try last week for our anniversary. Restaurant was clean, and well lit. Our server was friendly and very attentive and we were seated right away. Started off with some fresh warm semolina bread with herb seasoned olive oil which was delicious. We both love clams casino and were happy to see it on the menu so we ordered it as an appetizer. We have enjoyed clams casino at many other places and they are usually prepared as whole or chopped clam with bread crumbs, some finely chopped onion and green/red pepper, sometimes chopped garlic, and some chopped bacon on top with butter and seasoning. That is where the disappointment started. Our server brought out a half dozen clams on a plate. As he walked away, we both looked at the clams somewhat confused. The clams appeared to be steamed. On top of the clam were some large pieces of chopped onion, with a large chunk of roasted red pepper covering the whole clam, and a piece of bacon on top. No breadcrumbs, butter, or any other seasoning. We both thought that maybe this was just a different way to prepare the clams and ate them but were very disappointed. On my return to my office the next day, my co-worker informed me that in his experience at Jimmys he always had his clams casino prepared the traditional way so I am not sure what happened to our dinner. Next we both had a salad. My wife had a mixed green salad and I had a Caesar salad. The cucumbers in her salad were very bitter and my Caesar salad had no cheese on top, either grated, shredded, or shaved. For an entree my wife order eggplant parmigiana and I ordered shrimp parmigiana. The marinara sauce was delicious; light, sweet and just the right amount of seasoning. My wife thought her eggplant was just OK, nothing to rave about. The breading on my shrimp was extremely soggy, and just slid off of the shrimp. The shrimp themselves were rubbery, and had practically no taste. I am going to guess that they were previously frozen and most likely farmed raised. Since the last time my co-worker was there was pre-COVID, I have to wonder if there is a new chef working. Whatever the reason, my wife and I will not be returning. There are so many other Italian food options in the Whitestone/Bayside area, I see no reason why we should have to waste money on sub-par food.

2020-04-27This is my goto spot for authentic italian food for dine in . Im not sure if they change ownership but I decided to ordered take out for my family for the first time and boy was i disappointed. ordered lasgna and baked clams for my kids and this is what i got. This is not what i expect it from a authentic italian restaurant. This is what you get from a gas station in the middle of no way, Never again.

2022-01-23Food was excellent. Service and staff definitely not excellent. Aside from bringing our entrees and sides minutes apart, when we re-asked for a cup of coffee (for the 3rd time in 10 minutes) the waiter/busboy literally laughed in our faces). Also very few staff members wore masks or even tried. I wasn’t checked for proof of vaccination either. This is a bayside classic and wish they were better about these things.
