1st time at this establishment since they took over the building. I must say it will be my last. 1st impressions are everything. I ordered a chicken cutlet hero with the works and bacon. Get home open it up and there is a sandwich that is no way near what I expected. Lack of quality lettuce, tomato and onions to say the least. Bread was flimsy. And they forgot the bacon. Pretty much the whole sandwich was a disaster. Change the name to Joes heroes because the name Campus should not be associated with this place.Update: Breading came off the cutlet. Taste was so so at best. Worst sandwich i had in a long time. Sorry, just being honest.
Went to this food establishment this evening I ordered several items an Ashley which chicken cutlet melted cheddar and onion rings (overall it’s a hot hero) upon opening my hero I find the wax paper melted into my cheddar cheese so much so That I was forced to peel off all the melted cheddar but by bit in order to be able to eat my hero... very disappointed.. second issue was We ordered turkey America and bacon on a hero... If there were 2 whole slices of bacon on the entire hero that was a lot... very skimpy on the portion very disappointing... on the upside the cold hero’s (The Selden) and they turkey and Swiss cold hero and the BLT we ordered were very well done and the bread was very delicious..
I would stay far away from this place. Ridiculously over priced and the staff is just terrible. Please get it together before running an establishment. Chopped salad was robbery and not even CHOPPED. Staff is unmotivated and seem like they don’t want to be there. Chose home run hero’s or another local spot for sandwiches because this isn’t the one. Edit on the bottom is my side of croutons they forgot on my salad for $.75.
Extremely slow service just waited 20minutes for a sandwich and 2 Arizona ice teas total came out to over $20 are you kidding? The food here is mediocre at best. I could have gotten a sandwich at se port deli for less and it would be 100x better. Very disappointed.. the Original campus would be ashamed at what it has become
Same location as the original, new owner, but decided to give it a chance, bought two Italians for me and my friend, definitely was worth our trip from Nassau county! I remember 40 years how my father would drive from Medford to the original campus heros, and Im glad I made that trip today!! The staff was very welcoming, you will see me again soon! Good luck in this trying time
Had breakfast there few times. Ever get disgusted when they raise the prices by $2, if you dont tell them commuter special, and the sign in the window says $5.75. I refuse to constantly argue over the price, and they finally agree to do me a favor. Never again! will go to Strathmore instead.
The first sandwich I got was awesome. Not so much with the coffee; its on the weak side and it seems to be one of those places where they dont stir the cream and sugar in, it just sits on the bottom. Also, I was there at 1 on and they definitely need more help during lunch. There were 4 customers there, 2 people behind the counter, and a decent wait (15 minutes for a sandwich and coffee). Im gonna be back though.
Let me 1st say bring back the nook. So much better. I went in with my husband and ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches. The first was bacon egg cheese on a roll and the second was a hungry man hero with fried eggs. When my husband got home, I had no bacon on my sandwich and my husband had scrambled eggs. We called immediately and was told by Kim for him to bring it back. So my husband drove back. Kim the owner said extremely nasty whats wrong with the sandwiches. He told her I had no bacon on mine and he asked for fried eggs. She accused him of being a liar and took sandwiches and brought them back 1 piece of bacon on each. So nasty. Awful sandwiches awful service. Never again. You lost multiple customers.
Excellent Italian special subs! Huge, great, consistent, and friendly service.Ive gotten Italian subs here twice. The sandwiches have been solid 5 star - very large, very fresh, fresh real bread, and very inexpensively priced...about $10. Each one makes about 3 meals for me.I ordered to go and picked up at the back door after calling. The one star off is the back door look needs some work and the dress of the staff needs some upgrading, maybe Joes tee shirts. In all, the food quality and prices are exceptional and a seriously good deal.
I was craving a cold cut sandwich and decided to go here. I use to get my sandwiches from Campus Hero’s years ago & they were “the BEST” then however I was somewhat disappointed y one thing .......... the roll was so “HARD”,as a rock & could not bite through it!I would order again just make sure your bread isn’t brittle!
We went here for many years before the owner or new owners took over a few years back. The prices are ridiculous and expensive. I just noticed that the owner gives a ten percent discount on Groupon. Ten percent is still way over priced for a hero that used to contain twice the amount of meat.
I am very disappointed which was one of the best places in Selden to get heros . Food is still good but half the hero it use to be . I get thirty minutes for lunch break called in my order to pick up got it wrong had to go back in to correct the order . Which is totally understandable but to be told it was my fault to talk begins the Plexiglass I told her I called in said no excuse and I still got charged additional 6.50 sue t o your mistake and I got the same stuff that was on the roll put onto a hero not good service at all Im very disappointed years of memories coming here as a child .. I will be going to jersey mikes for heros now
Bottom line. Delicious heroes with great ingredients and great bread. The piccolo is amazing. They cook the chicken cutlets with a great crunch. I also order my usual. Turkey, swiss, tomato, mayo and salt and pepper. You realize you can order your own cold heroes right? This is America. You can order whatever cold hero you want! Right?? Now I’m scared! Yes $10-$11 Heroes. It comes out to 1 1/2 to 2 heroes. Very cool people. Great service. Great breakfasts as well. I would stay away from the liver and onions hero though. That’s just me.
Special ordered a catering hero for 50th birthday. It was special ordered to be in the shape of a 50 with the 5 an Italian hero and the 0 chicken cutlet American cheese and bacon. When picking up the hero the 5 was an S ... and I thought I could work around it. The way they packaged it there was no support for the hero so by the time I got home it was all over my car. I also realized there was onion in the hero, which was ordered no onion due to an allergy , AND the Italian part was American: I don’t often leave reviews but when i contacted the shop when I got home they were supposed to have the owner call me the next day. They had the manager call me to say there was no notation about no onion ... I told him that wasn’t the only issue and told him about the hero being American not Italian and how it was packaged. He told me he would speak to the owner and call me. 2 weeks later I haven’t heard from them which is why I’m leaving a review. I wanted to support a local establishment in these times. Will not buy from them again. Very disappointed in their quality and customer care.
Its a nice little place. There seem to be a lot of socializing happening behind the counter. It took them a few minutes to acknowledge us and then to take our order. We didnt wait very long for our sandwiches. It was not busy. It was a Sunday afternoon. The area where you can sit on the other side is very cozy. Its set up like a homey coffee shop. I could see relaxing and lounging over there with a cup of coffee. It was very comfortable. The food was very good although we did not order anything too complicated.
Finally got around to checking this place out, and wasnt disappointed. You may have to wait 15min for a sandwich if its very busy, but its definitely worth it. Huge portions, fresh ingredients, and nice soft fresh bread. I got the Khaleesi hero which may have been one of the best sandwiches Ive ever had in my life. There are about 100 different premade sandwich options that all looked great. Will definitely be back.
Love the deli and cafe combo. Had an Italian style sandwich, requested it on a roll instead of a sub. Good, fresh food. Generous portions. Like how they have the crew right there in full view slicing the meats, making the food, etc. Over all... recommend it for sure! Like how the owners are there. Real mom & pops type place. Go here!
Wanted to give this place another try, what was I thinking!! The sandwich ordered was The Sammy, I asked for the dressing on the side. Well, they realized that “after” making the sandwich and the took off the lettuce ”completely”and slathered on mayo which isn’t supposed to be on this sandwich in the first place. Oh, and I think they don’t know what “Fresh Mozzarella” is. please don’t say it’s “Fresh Mozzarella” and use Boars Head Sliced mozzarella. Also, the kids Chicken fingers and French Fries.... Its a fried chicken cutlet Cut into strips! I’m done.
Joes campus hero is a great hero or sandwich if they tell you 20 mins expect at least an hour. I live around the block order from there all the time and its the slowest deli, sandwich shop, fast food restaurant, chinese food ,sushi joint I ever seen in my life. With that good sandwiches
I have ordered from here many times, My husband always orders the undertaker Roast beef, brown gravy and melted mozzerella on garlic bread. We ordered two undertaker Hero’s and they are not good, shredded roast beef, what I believe is turkey gravy and one hero is burnt the other not toasted at all. So disappointed 😔
Very disappointed. Been here once before. Highly suggested it to my boyfriend on a long drive home. We live 20 minutes from the shop. Waited 30 minutes for two heroes. One being a regular Italian. Asked for dressing on the side. Got home to soggy bread and disappointment after literally not eating all day. Good times. Called for a refund and was told the “boss” will call me tomorrow....... awesome. Cause that’s going to do something for me now. Good luck everyone else 👌🏼
Very good hero. Plenty of meat . 5/5UPDATE: 2/5Went back today for a very basic egg and cheese sandwich waited almost 15 minuets and it was not ready. I then asked for my money back which they refused because they kept saying the sandwich was done but it never came out from the kitchen? Awful service!!!If you do not have 30 minutes of your life to waste then I suggest going elsewhere. They are slower than molasses even on a hot day.
Incredible little gem in the middle of selden. The owners joe and Kim are incredibly generous and welcoming. Anything brought to their attention is quickly addressed. The food, drinks, and desserts are awesome and very reasonably priced. It took a thursday night open mic to get me to try this place, and the amazing staff, owners, and food, to make me a regular customer. I can’t wait for the great local music acts, open mic nights, and comedy nights to return!!
This is my second time here - the first time was during the Grand Opening a few months ago, which was definitely a bit crazy (people are very passionate about the old Campus Heroes!) That day, I got the Mad Mac, and LOVED it, and Im not usually a fan of heroes with too much stuff on it. I went back today (a Sunday afternoon, so I was expecting a decent wait), and got the Mad Mac again, and a Chicken Salad BLT panini too. It took less than ten minutes, so I was pleasantly surprised! Both were delicious...Im very picky about my chicken salad, and this was great. Cant wait to try some more of their heroes!
First of all the place looks great. I had only gone to the old place once because it was so dingy it kind of grossed me out. Joes on the other hand is a place Selden can be proud of.The menu is awesome, some really good looking sandwiches. So far my wife and I have ordered The North Shore, The South Shore, Joes Fire, and The Jawdropper. All were excellent. I only intended to eat half of mine both times and save the rest, but I couldnt stop myself. The chicken cutlet is so good Im going to have a hard time ordering a sandwich without it and the fresh bread really makes a difference. We also ordered coffee and a Reeses cookie from Kims cafe, which I highly recommend. My wife loves the coffee so much I dont think shell be going to Starbucks anymore (its also way cheaper!)The staff is young and a little slow, but theyll learn, just a growing pain of a new business. I dont mind waiting a bit for quality. Joes will be a frequent weekend lunch spot for me, nicely done guys.
Joes really sets the bar high here. First, the sandwiches: bread was perfect for a sandwich. Not too soggy, but soft with a bit of crunch. I have ordered the Mad Mac, the Joes Special, and the North Shore so far, and all have been great. I highly recommend any sandwiches with fried chicken cutlet on them. The best Ive had at any sandwich place, hands down.If youre still in the mood to hang after enjoying lunch, the front of the shop features a sleek coffee shop atmosphere, plenty of seating, and a fully loaded coffee bar (titled Kims Cafe). Recommend the dark roast and any of the baked goods theyre serving up.
Spent 4 hours in this charming, little spot. The food was fantastic and the desserts even better. Their heroes are no joke. The owners Kim and Joe care about making each experience a positive one. If you want to enjoygreat food in a relaxing setting go to Joes Campus Heroes I am sure glad I did!
Made an online order, it said it would be ready in 20 mins. When we arrived the cashier who I believe was the co-owner told me she was sorry but nobody picked up the order because it came in on the other register, that was fine, things happen, she told us to go sit down and she would bring it out to us. 40 minutes later we go up to counter because it shouldnt take 40 mins to make 2 sandwiches. The woman that said she would bring it over to us was no longer there, she was at the coffee bar having a drink, and the new girl behind the counter asked me about my order. It was sitting in the back waiting for the first woman to bring it to us. The co-owner comes back over and acted like it was nothing saying oh its probably done in the back, they are probably waiting for me to bring it out no apology or anything. Get home and my hot sandwich is barely warm.
I just had a 5 egg white Omelet with grilled chicken and feta with a side of home fries. Home fries had flavor but I added more salt and pepper. I normally find home fries very bland. Omelet was good but I felt that the chicken had a strange texture, but I dont blame them 100% because I have noticed that a lot of chicken today is the same way. Next time I go I want to try Bacon Egg sandwich.
Tried this place Thursday. Ordered 2 sky walkers, mad max, and a boss. We didn’t get a boss they gave us a wrong sandwich. Don’t know what it was but the coworker that ordered the boss liked whatever sandwich they received. The skywalkers, the chicken was horrible- burnt fried chicken and definitely not fresh. Figured they are new so we would give them another try today. Try to call in an order- their website says to place a phone order please call. I call- “they are not taking phone orders but we are not very busy” says the woman on the phone..really? Then why won’t you take a phone order. Well I’m going to drive right by their store and go to TJ’s in Middle island, much further drive but they take phone orders and have yet to screw up an order.
Absolutely the slowest service I have ever had for an egg white wrap. 25 minutes! One customer in front of me. I witnessed 20 minutes after I ordered that one employee went to get the spinach out of fridge. They claimed they were swamped with call in orders. One call in picked up during my wait. They will never get my business again. You cannot be that inefficient as a business and survive.
Really wanted to love this place because we loved previous shop. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment - fist hero I ordered they couldnt make, didnt have one ingredient- apples?? really!! it was only 12:00 and theyre out of items yet still have it listed? Ok no big deal - order something else, waiting 15 min. for a hero? no one checks with us on why were waiting so long finally ask about our order only to be told computer never processed our order then served a Panini that the bread was barely warm and ingredients were cold. Server looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for a paper plate since we planned on staying to eat. To top it off the place was freezing - no heat, I would have been warmer eating in my car. I really want to support mom and pop type shops but I need better service then this.
I posted a review 11 months ago according to Google that said I gave his place five stars for the great selection of sandwiches. While I still stand with that statement, after my latest order I’m very dissatisfied with using this shop. Upon ordering through DoorDash, the deli had not given us 2 pounds worth of macaroni salad and coleslaw which upon arrival of the delivery I called the shop in hopes to correct the mistake or simply issue the refund. I then speak to one girl who then passed me off to another person who I had to reiterate the story to, where I then was questioned almost in disbelief by him. The man then tells me to come back to the shop to get the side salads meanwhile if I had intended of going out to get the food in the first place I wouldnt have used Doordash. He then offers to put the manager on to which the manager then tells me all he can do is give me store credit to a shop I don’t really usually go to but only really at the convenience of having it on DoorDash did I choose to use it. When I then questioned him about a refund he said he would call DoorDash about it. I made sure to give him my number to give me a call once it was resolved to ensure that he in fact will follow through with issuing the refund as stated. DoorDash instead contacted me to tell me they’re giving me a $2.50 refund on an almost $10 mistake and then tell me they’ll give me credit towards DoorDash something I almost never use but AGAIN only happened to use out of convenience of not having to leave my home while doing fall cleanup. After going back-and-forth with DoorDash explaining the situation as it had been told to them it was a matter of i got “the wrong size” side salad as they had told the rep at DD that the small side salads(the standard ones you would get with a hero) counted and it was only a matter of the wrong size. When I had corrected the rep at DD and informed him it was a matter of they just didn’t give us part of the order ( or no more than a sample I should say lol) he said I’d have to call them back to customer support if I wanted to dispute it again to get an actual refund all in which my sandwich is then getting soggy by the over generous amount of vinegar and oil they used on my sandwich. Well I will say the sandwich tasted delicious (aside from putting American on an Italian hero???) and for that they get the two stars I’m very dissatisfied by the way they were handling the situation on a $50 order.
Ive never had a problem with the service here other than them being a bit slow. I see a lot of people giving customer service horror stories, nothing about this place has put off this vibe. What really matters is the food, which yes is pretty good but its not the same overstuffed sandwiches like theyre trying to put out. Everything seems toned down, the flavors the combinations and yes the size. I would still kill for a classic corner style Mona Lisa instead of what theyre putting out.I do like the coffee shop, but if you think its possible to stop there in your morning commute than you must leave your house early. It seems everything here moves at a much slower pace. Which amazes me considering the amount of people they have working there some times. Seems nobody is really experienced yet so hopefully this will change. All in all, it seems like they tried poshing up corner. Id still take the greasy hole in the wall that corner was over this place any day.
Was a bit disappointed in our first visit to the newly reopened hero shop. Was a long time customer of the previous Campus/Corner heros. We found the heros did not have the same quality or taste of the original. The chicken cutlet was very thin and over cooked. One hero was missing bacon and gravy as the sandwich should have had. Service was also very slow Taking into consideration there are new people training there we will give them a try in a few weeks
Had to change my rating from 5 stars too one star because the last 3 times I was there including today they couldnt get my order right. I ordered a rib hero with the sauce on the side and the couldnt get it right every time. Oh with extra sauce thats never included. Never again!
DON’T GET EGGPLANT. I wish I could give more than one star for the sandwiches we received but we couldn’t even get through two bites. The bread was smeared with ash from an uncleaned stove and hardened cheese was stuck to the paper. The eggplant was mushy and green and overall very unappetizing. I was shocked someone actually wrapped it up and handed it to someone.
Sandwich wasnt bad, not nearly as good as corner heroes was though. I miss the grease, got the max inferno which wasnt worthy of the name it barely tickled my tounge. I understand rent is probably through the roof there, but I wouldve liked to have been full for 10 bucks. Mediocre at best, but theyre new so plenty of time to improve.Edit: I read the owners story, he shouldve stuck to construction. The inside looks like a million bucks
My son brought home two breakfast sandwiches. Simple order, ham, eggs, and cheese... Popular order? One would think the ingredients would be fresh. Opened one of the sandwiches and the ham was discolored and had green spots. How do you sell obviously spoiled food to people? I wish I could upload the pictures I took. Proof of what they were willing to feed people.Very disappointed.
Anyone that is thinking of going here, dont. I have tried the new ownership 3 times, and each single time has been a disappointment, and this last one was over the top awful. The first time, I gave them a pass, they had been open for like 5 days and didnt have the grills ready yet, fine, understandable since they were new and needed money. They were very disorganized too, but again first week. I return about a month later with a friend, this time I got my sandwich fine, but we watched as a guy came before us got his sandwhich well after when I got mine, and then my friend watched as others that came after got their food before he did. They kept coming back to ask what he got as we were just waiting, asking like 2 or 3 times, and it took them 10 minutes after the last time to finally bring it out, at this time I was annoyed as they were clearly very disorganized still, and I was starting to hear buzz from others that this was the consensus, since me and a lot of people I knew used to go to the old campus. Now fast forward to today, its been maybe a month and a half since last going, I have been disappointed by what I was hearing but I was giving them one more go. My dad gets home to bring me the sandwich, and what do you know, its the wrong one. I dont live exactly close, so I have to drive back, but before we do we c heck the receipt to see if we just messed up, no. They just gave me the completely wrong sandwich (someone elses I presume). So my dad gives them a call and reads right off the receipt what we wanted, AGAIN. We were already done, at this point but boy oh boy does this story get better, we pull up and get it, then when my dad gets back in the car and I start pulling away, I half jokingly tell him to check this sandwich, well what do you know? the people here are beyond disorganized and messed it up again. We had enough. We go back in yelling, my dad slams the sandwich on the counter and demands money back. The owner comes out and gets in my dads face screaming, and saying he Gave us what we ordered when we literally had the receipt to prove it, so I got in his face to yell because he called my dad a liar, and then he shoved me back into the wall and some onlookers had to get him off of me, when I didnt touch him. Disorganized, awful service, and an owner who shoved someone into a wall because he was getting yelled at for giving that consistently terrible service.Too long, didnt read: Owner is a scumbag that shoved me into a wall, and the store is beyond disorganized and not good anyway. Dont go. Recommend the drive to seaport instead or even Northside in Mount Sinai.EDIT: I saw a lot of 5 star reviews from people with 1 review and did some research as that is sketchy, and what I found is a lot of the people with 5 star reviews with 1 review have connections to the owner. So just beware, their rating on here is higher from bias.
Joe’s is a far cry from what Corner/Campus heroes was. Both times I’ve attempted to eat their the wait times and service has been egregiously bad regardless if there were only a few people in the store or none. The heroes are usually burnt when made or lack any kind of quality ingredients. Save your money and go to S.E. Port deli
Update Dec 2018:This place is way to inconsistent! Sometimes they hit the nail on the head but when you don’t even have quality control to realize you burned a hero and redo it or don’t add what you requested on other heroes something is wrong. They are back to square one where they started. Won’t be going back! This place has come very far since originally opened! Heroes are one of the best on Long Island! Had issues at first but has improved 10 fold! Our main place to get a good hero!
Necer had a problem with this place, but i went in earlier for lunch. Staff was friendly and everything so that wasnt the issue. The issue was the food(Buffalo Bill) I paid for, had half a bottle of sauce and it seemed like it was tossed together so quickly that it wasnt even hot. I saved half for later and as I go to bite into it, I was greeted by a thick black hair. I threw it out, and wont be returning.
Extremely disappointed in this hero shop. We went there when they first re-opened but chalked up the bad experience to the them working out the kinks. After yet another disappointing experience, they can no longer use that excuse.1. They do not have seedless rolls. My father in law (who purchased the meals) was not able to order anything off their menu.2. They do not sell half hero’s. We were forced to pay for a full size hero for a child.3. The cheese on the meatball hero and philly cheese steak were placed on the top of the hero. Once it is wrapped up, the cheese sticks to the paper and completely comes off the sandwich. I had to scrap my cheese off with a knife. I also asked for extra cheese on my philly, they put three slices of cheese on the whole sandwich but charged us for extra.4. The rolls that they do have are horrible. This is NOT like the old campus/corner hero’s as they claim. Will not be going back and will not recommend this store to anyone. Please avoid this shop and head down the street to homerun hero’s instead.
I’ve been going to Joe’s campus heroes on and off since they’ve open for business. I go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No matter when I go or what I order the food is always prepared fresh and made to order. The staff is more then friendly they are courteous and eager to help. You can take it to go or sit and enjoy in the comfortable seating area. which has one of my Favorite things about Joe’s and Thats Kim’s Cafe. Kim’s Cafe is a nice place to warm up with a nice Hot Chocolate, or have a nice fresh Roasted coffee or even one of their delicious signature Lattes. Kim fresh bakes all sorts of goodies like cookies, brownies, Blondies, and more. Its like 2 places in one it’s amazing. I love the atmosphere here its warm and welcoming like family. You can tell Joe and Kim put a lot into making this establishment feel this way. I will continue to be a customer to Joe & Kim and I hope you will be as well.
The place was nice and clean, they could have had more choices for the bread. They didnt have whole wheat rolls or heros and a hero with one meat and cheese costs over 10 bucks, thats a little much. The service was ok, it could have been fast but there was a lot of chit chat going behind the counter.
Cant say enough great things about Joes. Selden should be so happy this is still a mom and pop shop and not another corporate franchise. They rebuilt the entire space. Looks great, the place used to be a straight up dump. Ordered The Lina, The Undertaker and a chopped salad. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Heroes were fantastic and still big enough to save half for dinner. The coffee was also excellent! Lots of credit to the new owners for taking on the challenge of keeping this place a Selden staple...some OBVIOUS reviews of people just mad the other place closed.
I got a chicken cutlet a few weeks ago and it was pretty bad but I figured I’d give it another chance.I got Half a meatball half an egg plant hero oh my God it was horrible. The eggplant was uncooked , The meatballs tasted bad. The whole thing was covered in that disgusting red sauce that soaked the bread And giant glob’s of unappetizing cheese....On top of all this I had to wait more than 20 minutes for my hero because they said they had to make the egg plant fresh. I try not to write bad reviews but second time back it was worse the first...This place cannot hold a candle to the original they should’ve just kept it the same
I placed an order 2 weeks in a row both times the sent the food wrong... I called the store and they tried to tell me that the cook said they made the sandwiches correct..... so they called me the lier... dont go to this place they have harrobil survice and dont care about the customer... stay away from this small business..... the girl I spoke to basically told me I was lying about getting cheese on my egg sandwich... STAY AWAY no customer service
Honestly I went back when they first opened up cause I always loved corner heroes and the campus that was there before and this would technically be the closest specialized deli near me . What I got was a sandwich that tasted rancid, fries that by far the worst fries I have ever had the displeasure of tasting, and the Mac salad like they scooped it out the sewer in the back of the parking lot. Do yourselves a favor save your money take the extra trip and go to seaport, campus in Rocky point or homerun heroes
Ordered 2 sandwiches... mona lisa - the fries were cold and not fully cooked. it had no gravy and was too dry to eat. & a el suarez- they put chicken cutlet instead of grilled chicken and my dad couldn’t eat it because he cannot have fried food. was so excited to try their hero’s after grand opening and i’m very disappointed.
Was a big fan of the original,so I tried this one. It is nicer inside then the previous one and the food is just as good. However, the place is run horribly. I ordered two heros. The first was ham and swiss with a lot of toppings. The guy taking my order must have ADD because as I am telling him what I want he kept checking the dishes on the counter. So I had to keep repeating the order. The second hero was a simple tuna. I was watching the young lady making the sandwhich and noticed she put the mayo on the wrong sandwhich. I interjected and told her and she said she knew the order. It took a few more seconds for her to reliaz that she had switched the sandwhiches. I will still come but they really need to get more organized because it did leave a poor taste in my mouth.
EXTREMELY SLOW!!! No joke, dont make this your lunch break spot or you will be late guaranteed. Always have them the benefit of the doubt but this time I called and showed up a half hr later and still waited 25 minutes. Could leave a 5* if the food came out all all quicker. Enough to not go back
Been going to the place since they renovated , generally twice a week. Today, order came to $8.60, kid behind the counter states 10 dollar minimum to use my debit card, obviously that violates the merchant agreement with Visa and Mastercard as merchants arent allowed to force a minimum in order to use a debit card. Didnt have cash on me and I wasnt going to buy an extra drink in order to place an order, so because this place didnt want to pay 1.9 % plus 30 cents to process my payment, they lose out on all future business from me, not going here again.
Food is good, that is the only good thing I have to say. The counter guy has the attention span of a 3 year old. They constantly screw up at least one of the sandwhiches. Paid $31 for a panini and two tuna heros with lettuce and tomato-- way to high. Not worth the price. The original was much better. Will not be back.
First time here. I will admit i miss the smell of a million hero that were mare here. Given that our heros were good and fresh, the bread soft and fresh. Only problem not all preparers wear head covering and two men had none. Also one person was wearing, it looked like, latex gloves. Husband highly allergic. We will give it more tries. Very neat and clean. Needs more tweeking with ordering and waiting. I wish them luck.UPDATE...went today, i ordered a half roast beef with the works lettuce but no tomato with extra vingar on the side. Just opened it, just roast beef on a half hero, no lettuce, no salt/pepper/oregano or vinegar on the sandwich. Order taker really has to practice inputting orders on the port of sale. Will try again, but.......
They are over priced. Rude. And don’t know how to adapt to the covid. It’s sad to see such a good establishment turn to this. I will not be coming back till they fix they’re set up. I’m watching customers drive up and leave right away because of it. I hope the owner reads this and makes some changes because it really was a great place to recommend.now I have to recommend not going to this establishment.
I was a long time fan of Rocky Point campus, until I moved close to the Selden store. The food was just as good, and overfull heros were just the hit.... Then they closed.. Wow, I was lost,..., but woohoo they reopen again, but under a new name, Joes Campus Heroes I wondered if it woukd be as good?Ha.... The place looked good from the outside, but man oh man, the heroes arent even close, maybe half the meat, and dont even try the Chicken cordon blue,, omg... It was awful,, and the sauce wasnt even close... Oh I forgot to tell you, I had to ask for the sauce after I hot the sandwich, yep dry as a bone... And the sauce wasnt even close to mustard sauce they used to have.Wel to sum it up..... Nope not even close, so forget it, the famous hero shop is dead, and no one around to come close
Bad customer service for a place that just opened..Called to place an order for pick up..3 simple sandwiches..was asked to hold..sure no problem..5 minutes goes by.. I hear every person at the counter place there order.. waiting another 5 minutes still hearing all these people place orders at the counter.. now it’s over 10minutes and I decide to call while I am on hold on the other line.. someone picks up and is ready to take my order while I’m still on hold on the other line.. I say that I’ve been waiting for over ten minutes on the other line.. I’m given just a “sorry” and then I ask if there is a list or order in which they take orders(my order would’ve of literally taken 20 seconds to write down)and that I’m thinking of not even getting anything now and without even a chance to say bye the woman hangs up on me!! I call right back and say you hung up on me to which the woman says sarcastically “oh you wanted me to say bye oh sorry” very facetious!!! I then reply this is poor customer service and wish to speak with a manager or owner.. the woman says my name is “Kim” and “I am the owner!!” What a terrible way to conduct business it doesn’t matter if your a small business or a large business first impressions are everything.. If they were that busy just take my order when you get a chance (not after 10 plus minutes in which you forgot about me and started taking other phone orders)and tell me a time i.e. 20-40 minutes whatever amount of time wouldve been fine just don’t be rude about it and give an attitude.. I even wanted to have a catered event next month and was going to inquire but NOT NOW.. they just lost a potentially very profitable customer that lives right around the corner.. I will definitely let others know in Selden to go anywhere else and how there is poor customer service there due to the way this was handled by “the owner”and makes me wonder how “Kim” or anyone else handles business at “Campus Joe’s” if your reading this “Kim” try taking a business class 101.. focus on the lesson subject “customer service”..
Horrible I ordered 3 sandwiches 2 were half one full the chicken cutlets were not fully cooked thru plus they charged me for 3 fulls which i didn’t realize and the forgot my 3 rd sandwich and i had to wait 15 more min for simple half a turkey sandwich smh, they need to get it together i soooo miss corner heroes 😞

2022-06-19We have been coming here weekly for lunch, and I have to say, we have never had a bad sandwich here. My husband gets the hero and I get a roll, but both are overstuffed. Some of our favorites are the All American, Mona Lisa, Native New Yorker, Mad Dog American, Joes Special Italian, Philly, Mad Mac and Undertaker. We are eating our way through the Menu!! 3 stars, only because counter people can be moody. Sometimes friendly, other times, not so much.

2022-04-14So, I usually do not post negative reviews. However, if I could give this place no stars I would! I do not understand why certain people still work in customer service if they cannot handle constructive feedback. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken & cheese, received it with no cheese and with hair inside of it, called the manager, and calmly asked her to deliver one with no hair. Apparently, she did not care for my disposition toward asking for a salad with no hair in it. (The nerve of me...I know....) She then refused to have a new one delivered and hung up the phone. Before this, when I asked her to credit the card it was purchased on she stated she could not. However, she did proceed to advise me that I should ask for a refund from Door Dash and to please not mention to them that there was hair in my salad because it is embarrassing” & to just “tell them that there was no cheese.” Of course, things like this occur and naturally, people behind the counters are human beings. That much I can empathize with. But what I do find embarrassing is that this woman who is in management there is not a young kid, she is an older woman who should have enough life experience to know that when you are servicing customers, you do it in a professional manner regardless of your feelings of pride. What I find even more “embarrassing” is her unscrupulous attempt to persuade me to have Door Dash refund me for HER delis unhygienic error. Needless to say, I will NEVER order from this place again and I would highly recommend that if you do happen to, watch out for stray hairs.

2022-06-08Not worth the wait or the money! I ordered a vegetarian wrap.. on the menu it says it consists of carrots, cucumbers, peppers, cabbage, tomatoes, greens and hummus. When I received my order there was only one cherry tomato cut in half (what a joke!) and cabbage with some lettuce. NO carrots, NO cucumbers, and NO peppers and NO HUMMUS! When I called Joes Campus Heroes to make them aware of the error, they said they had no carrots in stock (ok??) and they hadn’t cut any cucumbers yet. So…. You mean to tell me whoever is making food over there can’t peel and cut a cucumber for a wrap they are advertising?! What about the peppers and hummus?? No excuse for those… this place is a joke! Don’t waste your time or your money. Food for thought for management- reach out to your customers and make changes to provide half decent customer service! Don’t be in the food industry if you can’t stay fully stocked and certainly cut your losses if you are going to send a wrap with one tomato. This place shouldn’t be in business at all. I gave one star because I had to, but I’d give a big fat zero if I could!!!!!

2021-07-19I enjoy coming here whenever my food order is made correct I normally always order for online pick up and I just ask for one thing to not be on my sandwich which is gravy and I always say“no gravy please” but I would say out of the last 5 times I’ve ordered 4 out of those 5 times they’ve added gravy to my sandwich. Just please be more aware of what the comments say because if someone is allergic to something that could be a problem.

2022-06-26Decent sandwiches but the wait times are a dice roll between 10 and 40 minutes depending on how busy they are, and estimates they give over the phone are often inaccurate.Hard to not compare it to the old campus heroes which may have looked less modern and clean, but had much better food and faster wait times.

2021-11-17Very welcoming staff, and great owners! We had our chamber of commerce meeting here tonight. The food was amazing! So good in fact we all took some home with us! From the looks of things, we will return here for more events. I certainly will personally return for some more amazing food. I really like the look and what they did with this place since they took over. Very clean!

2022-01-08I asked my sandwich to have no gravy and add bacon. And the sandwhich came with gravy and chunks of fat in it, trully discusting. Its amazing corner heroes was a gold mine how does some one take that location over n run it into the ground. They should not be able to use the campus name place horrible

2022-01-07Again, I can not say enough about this place, the fact that I go there from Nassau county should speak for itself, I dont have any problem giving the reviews establishments deserve, to me, I rate 5 star for the quality and the service that I receive, keep up the excellent work guys and you will see me again! Here is 2022, and I took the trip to the hero shop to start the year right, never been disappointed with the service and will never be disappointed with the hero I get! They have it down to the science for a hero worth driving from Nassau county to get, please keep things up and in time, the line will be constantly to the curb, thank you for the best hero shop on Long island
