Call me sentimental, but Ive come to John and Marys on my yearly Buffalo trip every year for the past decade. Their cheese burger sub is a tradition for my family, and everything from their wings to chicken parm is delicious.
John and Marys on Harlem Rd, in Cheektowaga, NY is the bomb! A WNY tradition living on, and this location ONLY has the original recipes! No expanded menu, no changed recipes. Just the best sandwiches in town, The way I remember then for the last 50 years ! The owner makes me feel at home every time I come here .If you have the chance by all means stop and have a sandwich from the real John and Marys subs !!!
Assorted and turkey subs were quite good, as were the onion rings. Will definitely be back!
Iv been coming to John and Marys A-bomb for over 50 yrs. Even after moving to the south towns I still make it a point to stop there when I in the area. I just stopped for lunch and got my usual Italian sausage and I must tell you its never been better. Everything thing from the service to the food was great. I hope you will give them a try you wont be disappointed
Always the best subs. I live in Rochester so its rare when I get the pleasure but any John & Marys, including this one are my go to when in Erie County.
Trustworthy neighborhood eatery. Their chicken finger club (basically chicken winger sub with bacon) is my favorite. Pricing is fair and they have daily specials worth checking. They also have a massive menu so be sure to glance their menu before deciding!
If you are from the Cleve Hill area, this regional sub place is likely dear to your heart with a favorite sub (like the Royal!)
Restaurant was clean, they have a good variety, and service was quick. The pizza logs were really good and they have my favorite tuna sub in town.
Sausage Hoagie sauce if the Bomb 💣!
Great pizza, amazing subs! And i love their nachos. (Edit) So although the fingers are very small. I think they make up the weight by giving extra. There are chicken nuggets size pieces hiding under the fingers. I prefer the older, larger chicken fingers. But these are probably better on a sub, which ill order next time.
Always very clean and fresh food. One of the best chicken finger subs around. This place has been here for a long time, so it knows a thing or two about subs.
Had my favorite Turkey sub here. Always great for a reliable, delicious sub. They have hotdogs for the kids as well. The owner/manager is a great guy, and made our experience extra special.
Great food great service every time
10/06/18 - i Ordered a whole chicken club sub among other things. Really had a taste for one. Got it home and the chicken fingers on the sub were BURNT! Not just dark, but half black! I probably wont be returning to that location. I took pictures to show the owner/manager if you care.
While on our way to another sub shop we happened upon this one and decided to eat here instead. Quaint place, friendly staff and good food. The guy that was there, guessing the owner based on his utter uselessness and standing around talking on his phone, seemed to be more a pest than anything else. Hey joker, let the ladies work in peace without you breathing over their shoulders like some pathetic slave driver. Perhaps make your phone calls in your office away from your customer base, its bad business and bad for business. Ill visit again, but if that lump is still doing that, Ill not be staying or returning.
Hadn’t been in a John & Mary’s in many many years but on a return visit to the area had a hankering to try them.Simply awesome experience.Large salads were HUGE and the steak sub was out of this world with deliciousness and freshness.Thanks for the great experience. Highly recommend.
The steak sub was a joke. Cold, no melted cheese and 1 slice of steak. Very disappointing, I love John and Marys but this location isnt worth stopping at to eat. Staff was nice, but that was it.
Family owned sub shop. My favorite place to go for a roast beef sub. Fresh ingredients and a toasted roll. Perfect every time.
The super Royal was delicious. The sausage sub was also outstanding!!! I brought two back with me to Ohio!!! I highly recommend.
The A Bomb was great. They were out of sweet potato fries so it was a little disappointing.
Large portions. The Royale uses frozen sausage, however it was still tasty.
Used to go there all the time. The service is very slow now. The owner looks very sloppy which is a turn off since he’s making the food. Customer service has gone down hill. Too bad cuz the food is still good.
Very long wait - call the order in 25 minute wait and waited in additional 20 minutes with only handful of customers who are also waiting it seemed a long time. The orders for fries and onion rings were a bit late on the serving amount - after coming here for subs for 40 years first time being disappointed
They get my order right 100% of the time. They play classic rock. Theyre friendly. The tables are generally clean.
Its ok. As a child my family used to order from the one on transit Rd. Not sure if they are different but not what I remembered.
I called to make an order and was placed on hold ( put the phone down for five minutes), and then all of a sudden there was a dialtone. They hung up on me. I called back and made my order. The subs are great, but the customer service is horrible!
If I could give negitive stars I would. About 3 weeks ago i got chicken fingers that were full of bone or some type of boney hard material. Today ordered again and the chicken was RAW. Go back to return it, they give me bbq chicken fingers, no blue cheese, no celery. I call back to complain, ask for the owner and they put some idiot on the phone who lies to me and tells me hes the owner. I ask when the owner will be in because hes lying, and he goes tomorrow morning at 10am. NEVER ORDER FROM THIS JUNK BOX. U WILL REGRET IT OR GEG SICK

Probably the worst steak sub I have ever had!So stingy on the meat and the mayo would squirt out with every bite.SAVE YOUR MONEY!
A little overpriced for what you get but the subs are good. Not a pizza place like most J&Ms. Nothing special about the dining room. Usually not a long wait.
Worst sub I ever had... And way overpriced.. $11.00 for sub and a drink.. Really dont understand how you screw up a simple sub like tuna but john an marys on harlem sure did.. Diddnt even taste like tuna... Disgusting.. Will never go back! Not even a 1 star rating by me
Love this place. Everything is great. Highly recommend the turkey club sub with extra bacon extra crispy with a side of onion rings.
Food was good and place was clean. They observed safety standards and it felt safe in there.
I wouldnt recommend. All tables needed wiping so I asked for a rag and was given a dry one, told them it needed to be wet, got a disapproval look. Food was so so. Only one friendly worker.
Called the Harlem rd location at 5:00 on Saturday 2/6/2016. They picked up the phone never said a word and set it down for over 5 minutes. I spoke to no one. I hung up and called back they picked up the phone and hung it right up. I went to the store and waited at the counter for quite some time and they never said a word to me. They need to get a lesson in customer service. I left went down the block to Tomys. I will never go back to John andars. Weve been customers there for 40 years.

Place has changed a lot. I grew up near here and used to come here a lot. I came back for the 1st time in years and was very disappointed. Poor service and quality. Some things do not get better with age.
Lots of parking, many tables for dining in, friendly staff and good food. I love supporting local businesses and John & Marys is a WNY staple.
A Buffalo original; these guys put Costanzos on the map! Their Royal is also an original, probably one of the best things to order from their menu!

2022-01-18John & Marys is the best! I live on the West Coast and every time Im in Buffalo, I make sure i swing by and order a chicken fingers & steak sub. Planning on bringing sandwiches back for my family to enjoy!

2021-09-28For me this place had a very average chicken finger sub though I guess this place is known for them. I had that and ordered a stinger sub as well and was overall disappointed by my meal. The fries were also just okay and I saw them simply reheat my fries in fryer as I walked over to counter vs a fresh order since they say out for awhile. Theres pretty sandwiches in area to try. Dont get caught up in the hype.

2022-03-15The cleanest and neatest chicken finger Ive had . Very fresh and good quality subs. Would like to explore there menu more . Curly fries is yummy and the prices are very reasonable. Super affordable and high quality . Would recommend to check them out . Packaging is very good also.

2022-02-08I worked at the John & Marys on Huth & Harlem when I was 18. The two owners (at that time 1968, Mr, Scott and Mr. Gagini) and their families were super!!! Whenever I drive through the area, I stop and buy a Royal Sub...the best of the best. Time to open a diner in Indianapolis!!! Thank you for fantastic subs my whole life (I am 72).

2021-08-31This franchise is hometown loving and one I have returned to for decades from my childhood, the subs are better than any I’ve had anywhere in the country, I’ve been back to Buffalo only a few times in 20 years but it’s always my first choice for food and I will never forget the memories I have had in any of their restaurants as a child.Thanks for always making me feel welcome, you may not know me but I’ll never forget you.

2021-10-24My sub was ready perfectly on time, hot, I asked them to wrap each half separately, which they did. The service was great, and the sub was wonderful! Could use a little more lettuce though. LOL
