We fed squirrels there. Loved it. Squirrel followed me home. Did not love that. Squirrel blinks in patterns, very obvious patterns but I do not understand them. Hate that. Squirrels gather outside my window. Looking at me. Watching every movement. Blinking. Blink. Pause. Stare. Stare. Stare. Blink. Stare. Blink. Stare. Pause. Blink. Feel them watching right now.
Quiet chill park & memorial adjacent to U S Army Fort Hamilton and the Verrazano Bridge US 278 Brooklyn to Staten Island one edge of the park is heavy car traffic as there is an entrance to Belt Parkway w Shore Road intersection ; park has paths to walk & several benches to sit & observe the surroundings : nice park
This will always be cannonball park to me. It is pretty, with a gorgeous monument in honour of the Dover Patrol in the war. Obviously, there also is a huge cannon, with large, shiny cannonballs stacked in front of it. The cannonballs themselves could do with a cleaning, but overall, its really nice.
It’s across from my apartment and it’s a quiet and enjoyable park. It needs major repairs in the paths all along the park, more benches and replace the broken ones that were removed. How I will love to see flowers during spring and summer. FYI: there are no bathroom facilities.
This Park is in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn next to the Army Base. We call it Cannon Ball Park. Ive grown up here in Bay Ridge and as a Teen they had a different fence that had a hole in it we would hang out behind the Bridge where it has a Beautiful Green Acre of Trees and Grass and we would listen to our Music and Play Card Games and also climb the Bridge and walk on the Catwalk. When I became a parent we would have Picnics (Barbecuing is not allowed) my Boys Loved to climb onto the Cannon and the Balls. Its a nice serene park to read, lay down on the grass or benches and let your mind relax.
Quiet park nestled right next to the Verrazano bridge. The park is never crowded and always has a peaceful vibe. You can come here to walk, relax and read without worrying about being bothered. There is a memorial and cannon with balls on display in honor of the Navy commander the park is named after.
Beautiful park, usually referred too as Canonball park, good for biking, runs, and certain practices, not too big for a sport such as baseball or something, kind of small, alot of greens but also a lot of bugs, since its the base park, you say feel that there are certain things you cant do but yeah

2022-06-07I love history, and this place has a bunch of historical monuments and stuff like that, so personally Im a fan. People who want to take a peaceful walk have to come here if they want to actually do what they want. Photographers will accomplish a lot inside this park. Peace + History = John Paul Jones Park.

2021-04-14A beautiful park/hidden gem of NY. It has views of NY harbor and the VN bridge. Suggestion: Grab a beverage and a slice or two of pizza at one of the brick oven pizzerias along 4th Ave as you head to the park (the subway is at 4th Ave and 95th Street) and enjoy the views.

2019-07-20Lovely location, small but enjoyable park. Monument to Dover Patrol, in clear sight of the Verrazano Bridge. Not maintained by the city very well. Grass is growing up through the paving stones.

2018-11-29Its a park, what can I say? John Paul Jones park is located in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, adjacent to the Verrazano Bridge and the Belt Parkway entrance. This is not a dog park, but there is a small area that is frequently used by dog owners. There is a small walking path, maybe a half mile altogether, that goes around and through the park. Youll see an obelisk dedicated to the US Navy, and an early canon from the Revolutionary War, with cannon balls stayed all around it. If driving, the park is not accessible from 4th avenue. You have to drive down to Fort Hamilton Parkway, take a right at the end of the road on 101st street, add youre there!

2020-08-01Got to catch a glimpse of fireflies during this season. The only drawback of the park is that its too close to the roads and hence extremely noisy. Other than that, its a beautiful park!!!

2021-01-03There’s a cannon in the park, let us embark, so in the end we’re not left with a question mark, to comprehend how this landmark had its true name seemingly stolen in the dark, actually ripped away from this pretty park.Cannon ball park was once the name of this place, the parks department installed a sign and the original name vanished without a trace. I say let’s all get together and embrace, the real name of this place, something they could never from our minds erase.Cannon Ball Park
