Joju in other cities:
Great food and the double fried fries are amazing. Love that they have plenty of seating and are open till 7 (for those that stay at work late).***Place is around the corner from Barnes and NobleGreat addition to midtown specially with other places getting some new variety is always great.
Had the traditional Bahn Mi “the sweet,” the bulgogi sandwich, and shrimp summer roll-all very fresh and delicious! Portions are very generous and though it’s more expensive than those found in Chinatown, the quality and amount you get as well as midtown location all justify the cost. They have some tables outside for covid. You order on tablets inside and they only take credit card. They also have a breakfast menu now which I am posting.
A delicious modernized banh mi.Ive tried their Elmhurst location and there is definitely a slight difference in their menu and the ingredients they use. I feel like their Elmhurst location tastes better.I walked a good 15 mins to their 5th ave location and their was a queue out the door. The wait wasnt too bad. There was 2-3 kiosk and 1-2 cashier to take your order. The food is made in front of you. Plenty of seats (up and downstairs). A restroom. A water station.I ordered their Sweet Joju with runny egg, Crazy Monster Spring Rolls, and viet coffee. It was really good. I shared with my sister and was still really full.Would definitely come back and reccomend. 8/10 | $-$$
Wayyyyy too sweet! I am a banh mi fan so I was excited to try this place. Had it couple of times and still it taste too sweet for me. I feel like I am eating candy! So this would be a hard no for me. Their bread wasn’t the best either. Other than that the pickle veggies were fresh! Tho mushy Bc they slice them way too thin so there’s no crunch to it. Wouldn’t recommend.
I love eating at the one near Elmhurst (its always a favorite for people that work at the hospital).Tried the one in Manhattan since it does delivery. The fries came drenched in a tub of sauce, was quite nasty, and I could only eat a couple before giving up.The 2nd issue might be with the delivery service, but I ordered boba and it came with a normal straw. I could not drink the boba lol. Writing it out, seems kinda funny now, but was super annoying at the time. Didnt help the fries were trashed so 2/3 of my items were messed up.Probably not ordering delivery here again. Will have to wait until Im back at Elmhurst I guess.
Updated: Came back and did not have a good experience. Avoid the lunch rush unless you enjoy being crammed into a crowd of people waiting around the pick-up window while watching other people who ordered 10 minutes after you get their food first. Their order queueing system is all sorts of nonsense. Sandwich was just ok this time and a bit too sweet.Original: Generously sized banh mi sandwiches. Efficient self-order kiosks that let you do all kinds of customizations. Great midtown spot to grab a quick delicious bite.
I really enjoy this modern take on Vietnamese food. The food is fresh and made to order. I got the lemongrass chicken bowl half salad half rice and it was delicious. So many flavors and the green sauce is the best. Must here the giant spring rolls too. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
Have always loved their food. So happy to see them in Manhattan that too close to my work. Their kimchi fries had always been my favorite. Chicken with lemongrass is another fav of mine. It has that fusion of thai & korean dish. The place itself is simple and clean and pretty fast with the orders.
Ive been going to joju since they opened in Elmhurst and was excited that they opened in midtown. I love the sandwiches and fries, the green sauce is delicious with a little kick. Go early or order online ads the lunch rush gets busy, but goes fast with kiosks for ordering.
I love that Joju has a branch in Manhattan! Its a crisp look and has two areas for seating. The downside is that they do not do the rewards card like in Elmhurst. They connect rewards with the card used to pay for the meal. I honestly wish that they had a rewards system in the app or just used the card as well. The menu is the same as in Elmhurst except there are fewer drinks to choose from. We ordered the cold brew Thai tea, Viet coffee, lemongrass chicken sandwich, caramel pork sandwich, and the monster spring roll. The flavors are the same and really good.
Great food, clean environment, friendly service. Never a disappointment. The food is always fresh and get the spicy if you like the burn (good kind). Coffee is strong and a good wake up. Spring rolls are super crunchy and paired great with the sweet and sour sauce. Fries are crispy and though you should share, make sure your the first to get your fork in it cause if not there wont be much left after the first bite. Love this place since Elmhurst location and so happy now to have one closer to work. Never get bored with all the different choices and combos.
Had the ginger seitan bites bahn mi. I didn’t like it. It was too meaty in texture and taste to the point where I started wondering if they made a mistake (maybe they did?). Bread was not extra toasted as requested. Will not go back but go try it out for yourself as my low rating is unique.
I came here because I was tired of the greasy and greasy food of New York. Ordered the beef bulgogi banh mi and it was the best choice. You can order from the kiosk. I added sriracha sauce and it was free. If you like spicy, be sure to add sriracha sauce!! Inside the sandwich are minced bulgogi, kimchi, and sweet and crunchy vegetables. I really enjoyed it. I want to go again. However, as in the United States, where all food is salty, the bulgogi is a little salty. And since coriander is added by default, if you dont like coriander, ask for it to be removed!

2022-07-22Its not bad. Just a few things I wish they have done...1 - toast the bread to make it crunchy. The bread is very soft but I like it when its crunchy.2- the sweet meat (I think thats what you call it)...I would like it more if it was a little warmer or hotter. The meat tasted a little on the cold side. The spring roll is okay...I just dont think I would buy it again cuz its expensive.

2022-01-03One of the few places I’ve been able to find good vegetarian banh mi.I ordered the vegetarian ginger beef sandwich which is made using seitan. It’s in large chunks or strips so not like the ground pork you would typically see. ONLY thing I wish is the spicy sandwich to actually be spicy. Ordering the spicy sandwich means it comes with spicy Mayo, sriracha and jalapeños but it is quite mild.Overall, the food is great and the staff is friendly.

2021-10-22Great banh mi, great fries, bowls are a little meh. The best one is the sweet Joju sandwich with spicy mayo, paired with kimchi fries with an egg! Heres hoping they add black sesame milkshakes like the Elmhurst location 🤞. Take out only, with a few tables outside. Pretty busy at lunch.

2022-08-11The food is not bad and I appreciate having a different cuisine option in midtown Manhattan. The service is great. My complain is too heavy handed on the sauce. I had to throw away half my JoJu fries. I ate most of the veggie topping but the fries were drenched in sauce. I wiped down as much as I could but it was starting to make my tummy turn and felt disgusted eating it. I just feel bad to throw out food. And mind you its midtown price these fries. So, I recommend asking them put sauce on side even if its one corner of the box or ask only two light squirts, you are better with dry fried than overly drenched ones I feel.

2021-06-23Huge, fresh and delicious! I got the classic. vegetables are crunchy, meat is plentiful and tasty, bread is crusty and fresh. the vn iced coffee is good too.. I added extra sweetened condensed milk, maybe no need, as it was a little too sweet after I did. Yum.

2022-06-14The banh mi was delicious at such an affordable price. I tried the lemongrass chicken sandwich which tasted fantastic. The bread was so crispy and there wasn’t an overload of all the vegetables. It was a great balance of the chicken with the carrots, cucumbers, and the other vegetables. My friend had the beef bulgogi rice bowl and they loved it a lot!

2021-02-13Ive been to the original one in Elmhurst several times. Craving for their sandwich, I was shocked that they opened one near me. This shop is bigger and modern. The menu is different, its make your own sandwich or bowl. I guess it caters to the midtown customers. There are two tables outside and to order, there are 3 iPads. Once you placed your order, you stand by the pickup window. Painless and efficient. I ordered a caramelized pork sandwich and iced Vietnamese coffee. Both are delicious and I will definitely go back!
