Mom and Pops type feel restaurant with a variety of vegan meals, fresh produce and vegetables with pleasant, flavorful taste. Customer friendly and very open about food contents. Tried the Soursop Seamoss drink it was delicious. Also had vegan patties made from lentil, light crust 😋.
Great vegan meals, hours should be extended for dinner.We wanted to go to Jolos for a family birthday dinner Friday night, but didnt because they close at 8pm. We ended up ordering take out the next night. We got 6 different dishes and they were all extremely tasty. They take great care in preparing their dishes, spiced just right.They could do a better job at packing the meals. The containers used would be okay if they werent stacked on each other, but theyre too flimsy to stack in a back. Liquid leaked out in my car and was dripping from the bag when brought into the house.Bottom line:Great foodHours should be extended to at least 10pm on weekendsTakeout food should be packed differently

I visited Jolo’s dine-in restaurant really close to closing time and appreciate his efforts to accommodate. I had a hot, freshly prepared meal that made me feel as if I just received some good ole home cooking that eased the soul. Can’t wait to visit again soon!
The staff were so friendly and informative. The food 10/10 veryyyyy delicious. Hands down best vegan Mac and cheese which is hard to find nowadays the “chicken” nuggets were also amazing.

For my first vegan restaurant dining experience, I must say the food, the flavors, the fullness of health was everywhere there. Dining was simple but superb. And so affordable! The staff were healthy, happy, and knowledgeable about everything they had available to eat. Business was booming! I am certain this will become one of my favorite vegan places to share great food with great people!
I love Jolo’s Kitchen. One can taste the love and care that was put into the preparation and serving process of the food. The food is simple, healthy and makes one feel good about themself and the world we are living in. It surely reminds me of: “We are what we eat”.❤️💕❤️🙏
The food is always really yummy here, theres nothing that Ive tried that I havent liked even okra which isnt my favorite is good. Their pumpkin soup is super delicious & my favorite fresh made juice is the Hot vitamin C when Honest makes it, as he puts love into it. Ive had this drink made from other staff & its just not the same but like I said, fresh & delicious food.
Went for a bday party, Im glad I found this place. Not a vegetarian or vegan, but it was the best food Ive had in a while. Great service as well. Delicious!
Excellent food, good service, hard to find a good vegan spot. They do a great job serving great food. They have lunch food where you can pick x number of sides. Their vegan ribs/steak and cheese sandwich/wrap is mouth watering delicious. An addition you can get alkenize water of any size container for just $3.00.
Really great food, I wish I lived closer so I could go here more often. My husband and I went here for lunch and everything was delicious. I got the vegan fish burger with fries and a piece of cake. Everything was done perfectly and I liked that the vegan fish wasnt greasy, as is often the case with the store-bought varieties. Cant wait to go back to try more things. It was so hard deciding. Everything on the menu looked great.
My only concern is they’ll make a great dish such as Mac and cheese or Rasta pasta that obviously sells well and then they won’t sell it for the next few days after. It’s very annoying. Food is sometimes way too spicy or not flavored enough. The atmosphere is nice, workers are nice. Food is pretty good other than that. But seriously if people love a certain dish make it often please!

Let me just say, Please don’t waste your time…..not even an hour later and I came straight to this review. No flavor, the food is so plainnnnnn. It’s like everything is plain and boiled and let me not get started on that god forsaken “Mac and cheese” . The prices are absurd compared to the quality of food.
The first time I tasted food here i was a lil unsure being i didnt eat healthy at the time. The service and explaining what love ingredients are put in food put me at ease.Everything so far i ever tried was excellent!!!! Only 4 stars i cant afford2 eat here all the time cause he knows his food values. U can respect that. My favorite is peanut butter smoothie with cashews 😋....i even love healthy patty. Been a while since been here
The food was delicious we ordered the Portobello mushroom steak,the chicken curry and mac and cheese .very satisfied with all. service was very friendly and welcoming.towards the end of the meal we were given ginger shots on the house by owner wich was a very nice gesture..will definitely be going back
I read the reviews before visiting and was very excited to try it. The food was good but I have no idea what I ate. Upon arriving with my daughters there were people seated at a table conversing and no one behind the counter. One of the people got up and I guess informed someone to come to the front. I asked what they had and the lady opened up the trays but didn’t name or explain anything. I asked more questions and she pointed at sample containers with prices on it. The only menu I saw was for the smoothies. I made my choice based on sight and purchased 2 items for $7 plus tax. The “meat” items were really good, which is why I gave 4 stars. I’m converting to being vegan and was hoping to entice my daughters to get something but they looked as confused as I felt so they left with nothing of their own. I didn’t feel comfortable asking more questions based on how my first few were responded to. It wasn’t busy at all so I’m not sure if that’s how they treat all of their customers but the service was not impressive. I smiled throughout but didn’t feel my energy reciprocated. If I return it’s for the food, not the service.UPDATE 10/2018:Ive visited the location several times since, once in the evening and every other time in the early afternoon. I havent had another bad service experience since. I convinced myself to return for the food and Im glad that I did. Im learning more about their options and what the serve. Everything has been so good. I like their patties as well. I have yet to try a shake/ smoothie but thats coming soon.
Its not very often that I give 5 stars to any type of establishment but how do you not give Jolo’s five? I have been coming here since they opened and they are part of the reason why I am vegan. They were very willing to explain about the vegan lifestyle and all about the culture and the food. One of the best place to eat in the area.
I am always looking to support black owned business and this seemed like the perfect place. My meal was the eggplant, curry potatoes, and cabbage. It was all really good. I personally didnt like the eggplant but I think it had to do with how it was prepared and Id never had it like that before. Had a smoothie as well. Definitely going back there. Oh, and its a vegan spot, fyi.
Ok, its small, modest, not showy- but we love Jolos! The strictly vegan fare is tasty and simple but creatively prepared. We generally do take- out; its a great fall- back for a yummy and reasonably priced dinner. The staff is unfailingly kind, helpful and friendly.
Such great & humble people!! Their food is amazing. Their service is spectacular. I absolutely LOVE this place. Their Philly cheese steak, and zucchini bread is amazing! God bless the chef! I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!
I really, really wanted to like Jolos but the food is kinda bland. Veggie Castle has spoiled me! Other than that the staff is very nice...unlike Veggie Castle.

I was so happy to have found this fantastic eatery. The food was fresh and so delicious, the folks were so lovely and friendly, and the atmosphere is so real! I listened to great reggae, while enjoying my meal and chatting a little bit with one of the gentlemen, who run the place, about Rastafarian history. This place is a cultural gem! I wish them a long, prosperous life. Put this restaurant on your list of places you MUST VISIT, and eat there often for good cheer and good health.
Immediately coming into this restaurant I was assisted. The representative was very knowledgeable and professional, he presented all of the food that was available to us and the deserts and even showed us the cost per size plate. My wife and I ordered Lentil Patties and a slice of Blue Berry Cheese Cake. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was inviting.
The food is pretty good. They serve things such as vegan ribs, vegan patties, vegan chicken, etc. My favorite thing from here that I definitely recommend is either the vegan ribs or the vegan chicken wrap. If I didnt know it was a 100% vegan cafe/restaurant, I wouldve thought I was eating real chicken or ribs. The only thing making me give this a 4/5 is that the prices can be a little bit high for some items, but not every item is expensive. If you decide to go, theres always a menu, and friendly staff who are willing to help you out.Updated criticism 2 years later: While the food is still good, the amount that you get served is definitely lackluster. The servers are very light with how much food they give you despite the price. For this reason, I dont eat here often as there are other places nearby that taste good, have decent prices, and give a more reasonable amount of food.Jolos really needs to step its game up in terms of being generous with the food. Just because the food is vegan or healthy doesnt mean the customer shouldnt get a lot.
Great meal. Fresh and delicious! Great atmosphere. Casual, yet classy! I had the quinoa vegetable medley and my daughter had a chicken hummus salad and sandwiches and cleared her plate! Bonus... Sat and Sunday is live music. Performers tonight were amazing!

Incredible experience. Ate there last week and LOVED it. Food is varied, people are warm, humble and very welcoming, and the prices are very fair. We had soups, then I had veggie ribs (a winner!) and my husband had a grilled Portobello steak sandwich. Smoothies are in big portions for the money you pay, and extremely tasty. I am SOLD.Great place, we would love to come back. We are from Connecticut, hope you will open a place there soon.:)
First time here! I really loved the vibe! The gentleman behind the counter was such a sweetie. He asked me if I was gonna “chill or go” and right there I wanted to chill a little longer. He was super friendly and very educated on what he was serving. Plus it smells YUMMY when you walk in! Excited for my food!
Food was great, service was great. They were out of some stuff for the dish we ordered but they suggested the philly cheese vegan patty which turned out to be delicious... the staff was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come again.

This place is one of a kind, and serves delicious food. The vegan chicken nuggets taste better than McDonald’s nuggets. Everything always tastes fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend this place especially for new or already converted vegans
The wife and I decided to try this vegan restaurant. I have to admit Im pretty impressed. Clean, calm and spacious. Tables are not cramped together. Id definitely come back.
This is an all vegan restaurant, but offers more whole food/grains options than American food based vegan restaurants. If its your first time trying vegan food, Id recommend this place as they have many options that will be familiar.There are smoothies, juices, wraps, salads, appetizers, platters, and desserts. Their smoothies are especially amazing!
I love this place. The people here are so inviting and pleasant walking in is always a pick me up. You never know whats for lunch, but thats part of the excitement. The only constant here are a friendly staff and good food.
Food is off the charts delicious. Im not vegan but loved the curry chicken and sweet potatoes. Definitely will be going back when Im in the area.

My daughter and I were in New Rochelle and wanted to get something meatless but good... heard about Jolos thru a friend. I had curry tofu and my daughter had stuffed Portobello mushrooms we both enjoyed our food and the pricing was reasonable. Nice place to try even if ur a meat lover, U wont know ur eating vegan
New at eating vegan. Just a few months in and this place is a go to place! Every day is a different menu. The juice here too.Great place to get a good bite even if your not vegan.
I really love this place. It is much better and more reliable with its food and service than the other jolo restaurant location. The employees are nice, the food is delicious with great variety, and it always seems busy! As a vegan living near by there are very few places for me to eat so I am soooo happy this place is open!
This is a hidden gem in New Rochelle. Dont let the neighborhood throw you off! Inside Jolos kitchen is a relaxed atmosphere with very kind and helpful staff. The food is by far the best vegan food around and this is coming from someone who frequents the vegan restaurants in Manhattan. The food at Jolos has a rare mom and pop quality to it that will make anyones day! (And yes the meat tastes just like meat!)
Walked in , looked at the menu there was someone being cashed out. Two people walked in after me and they were serviced before me. I was looking forward to something different, however My pet-peeve is customer service, and none was provided. This is a big issue especially when you are a small business owner. Never coming back again, very disappointed, and I will be telling all my followers and friends about this experience.

I was working on this area for a few months and Jolos became a routine stop for dinner. Delicious, healthy, wholesome food served up in a casual environment. I introduced many co-workers and they all enjoyed it as well.
There is nothing in this restaurant that is not delicious, unique and fresh. This is off the beaten track of vegetarian food onto paths of innovation and special spices. If there was a possibility of a leisurely meal in a comfortable location, this would be my favorite place.
The owner who I can describe as white was not welcoming. She is very racist. Nonetheless, the food was not good. They have food that has been sitting on the serving bar for hours. Thus, the food was cold. Furthermore, I will not support this business. Go to this racist business at your own risk if you are darker than the owner.

The lunch menu was super short and there were no varieties to choose from besides burgers/wraps or salads. The drinks tasted like no effort was put into making them. I certainly cook far better vegan food. If Youve Never Tasted Better Vegan Dishes, I Can Understand Why You Would Think This Place Has good Tasting Foods. Venture Out To Brooklyn For Some Real Tasty Vegan Foods. I Recommend A Place Called Scoops On Flatbush Avenue.

2022-05-28Great experience in this restaurant. The owner is friendly and inviting. My husband, my son and I came for dinner and he suggested the Philly Cheesesteaks and they were delicious and flavorful. My son loved the nuggets. The interior of the restaurant is cozy, clean and filled with beautiful artwork!

2021-05-25I found this little gem and am very glad I stumbled upon it. This place has a vibe and the staff are so kind. The gentleman at the counter gave me extra pieces of food because I said they looked delicious. Great, authentic tasting food and great portions for price. I highly recommend you stop by and try it for yourself! Plus it’s vegan!

2021-04-29Good Food & Irie vibes. I must say, every day I decrease my meat consumption. I tend to lean more towards vegan or vegetarian ism. I tried jolos because my Brother got me a plate. The Ginger seemed chicken, black bean and quinoa were exceptional. I shall be back. Ill try the akee patty next time.

2021-11-03This review is long overdue as Ive been coming to Jolos for more than 5 years now and have never had a single bad experience. Theyve even catered my parties & have baffled meat eaters with Jolos delectable cuisine. There are two locations, one is more of a sit down date night type vibe and the other is more of a smoothie, lunch crowd type vibe. Both have the exact same standard of cleanliness, friendly service, and amazing food. I cant speak highly enough about this business or its people, fixtures of New Rochelle that help the community grow in health and in spirit. Seriously, go here.

2021-10-27Remarkable! The juices were freshly made and a good combination.The vegetables were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The atmosphere and the friendliness of the owner and staff were great. Definitely a jewel in the midst of New Rochelle.
