Joong Koog Jip in other cities:
Came here during a family get together and was treated to quite a feast. Since we dined banquet style wasnt sure of the names of the dishes but they were great. The service was very prompt and accommodating and when all was said and done I was too full to order of the normal items on the menu. My wife was smart and did save space and I got a pick of the Jajangmyeon that was delicious. Have to come back and try the spicy seafood option.Highly recommended.
LOVE IT. I really like the seafood noodle soup. I love the noodles and the soup base is delicious, very good ingredients! I got them to take away the garlic and onions and I absolutely love it. It reminds me of a similar restaurant I have in Midtown but I rather come here bc I dont have to worry about getting a ticket and I can go to H Mart afterwards to shop! Youve got to stop by to give it a try. Also their free dessert is pretty good too.
This place is my usual if im craving korean chinese food. I recommend dining in since their takeout portion sizes are significantly smaller than dining. Only downside is that the workers kinda stopped checking for vaccination proof. I wasn’t asked until i showed the staff myself. I understand it can get busy but safety protocols should still be followed
Great place to grab lunch with family or friends. The place is tidy and clean. The food are also good. I ordered spicy jjajjangmyun (black bean noodles) and it was good. They also have a lunch menu which is from 11:30-3:00pm. Good prices. Meter parking is plentiful during weekdays.
Amazing food wwwow! I came here thinking it would be just “ok” but the waiter was extremely kind and showed passion for his work. The food came fast and the portions were great!! I am definitely coming back here again soon. The complementary sweet fried balls at the end are delish too.
Usually I go here to dine in, but that was before 2020. Nowadays, we do takeout which isnt that bad. Order everything on the phone beforehand, go and pick them up. I havent had a problem with the food and Ive been going here for years. Also love the little dessert they give as well.
Prices are escalating all over the place. The tang soo yuk is now $25 but totally worth it to the portions they give you. Leftovers you can feed your pets. Im going off topic but not too long ago we used to feed real food to pets. When you look at the ingredients on pet food you know its junk food.
Probably one of the best Korean-Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in Queens. The portions are humongous. Tang-soo-yuk is really delicious. Jjam Pong is good. Ja-jang-myun is OK. The kimchi was quite a bit too salty for me and my family. Friendly staff and decent price point, particularly considering how large the portions are.
The signature dish here is the noodles in black bean sauce, Ja-jyang myun. Korean-Chinese cuisine. They also have a plethora of more pedestrian Chinese-style cuisine for the less experienced western palate like fried rice and fried dumplings. Service is quick and courteous and they do offer takeout.
I grew up in Korea eating Korean Chinese w/ my family every week. It’s not until today that I’ve had GOOD Korean Chinese in New York so I’m really happy. The portion size is generous the tang su yook is crispy and delicious. Great jjambbong. This spot will be added to one of my go to places!
Three years ago, I tried my first ever jajangmyeon here and it did not disappoint! The jajangmyeon is so flavorful and a huge portion for a cheap price! It tasted like the ones I had in Korea. I also got the tang suyuk and the serving size was HUGE. I would suggest getting the sauce on the side! The pork was so crunchy and crispy and the sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and sour. I highly recommend this place!!
This is their 2nd restaurant. Original Joong Koo Jip (중국집) is on 14908 41st ave flushing NY 11355. Sam Won Gahk(삼원각) owner originally planned to open this place for themselves but Joong Kook Jip took over. However, food are nice and fresh all times. Very clean restaurant (Grade A for inside kitchen and outside tables) There are lots of choices for the main dishes. Its brilliant that they have combination menue for the lunch special. Including their original restaurant ( down town flushing), they have been around and served the community for quiet long time ago. Parking is below average but you can manage it by going off from the 25A. Will visit again.
This is a second location for this restaurant. Location is spacious and clean. The food is slightly different than their first location and felt like they cut corners with the ingredients with the half jjajang and half jjangpong. Parking in the area is rather hard to find. The parking lot has 4 spots with two of them being extremely inconvenient as they ask you to move your car while you are eating.Nothing super good about the place and nothing super bad about the place.
Wheres the meat and flavor?!?!Order their food from DoorDash tonight and was really disappointed by the food. The noodles for JaJangMyun was glued together and the sauce was pretty bland if not for the whole barely cooked onion they added. (Way too much onions!!) It was supposed to contain some pork but all there were are smaller than 1/3 - 1/2 of uncooked rice grain size meat bits. The same was true with the Mapa Tofu (forgot the salt and the beef?). Their Mandu was mostly air.. Very sad.
Terrible! The food wasnt good (or even authentic, as they claim) and the waitress was upset about having to be there. I went there in a group of 15 to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday, and wish we went to McDonalds instead. The servings are big enough to share, but somehow, they dont have plates. We asked repeatedly for plates and the waitress said they dont have any. Instead, she gave us teacup saucers. We also bought a cake for the birthday, and the waitress said they dont have any knives in the restaurant for us to use to cut the cake. On top of all of that, the waitress refused to take off an additional fried rice from the $350 bill that she mistakenly wrote down. She said that if she wrote it down then it must have been ordered. She even went as far as to say, I will pull up the security camera footage to show you who ordered it. I absolutely hate this place and suggest everyone stay away. Also, 4 people in our group got sick afterwards too.
I visited this restaurant with my friends on Jan 28.2019.The black bean noodle(Jjajangmyun) taste was good. But the attitude of the waitress is terrible. I ordered cold jellyfish but she brought it wrong, I asked her to change it, she just stood there holding it.I asked several times to take back but she refused to take back and keep saying What am I gonna do with this food? The behavior of the waitress was so absurd. It was really bad because I could not understand it.I think that the attitude to just eat the wrong food us really wrong. I do not want to go twice again.
Good food, decent faculty, and has a nice interior design. There is no parking lot for every customer, since they only have a space behind the restuarant for four vehicles only; Double-Parking. So you can imagine an employee coming up to you while youre eating to take out your car that is blocking the one closed in.
Its a place that you can taste authentic Korean - Chinese cuisine. If you are Korean you will love it. Personally, Jjambbong was better than Jjajangmyeon here. Generally, the foods are very good and price is reasonable. Also, they have a parking lot at the back of the building but its only for 4 cars.
One of two locations in Flushing, this place serves the best Chinese-Korean black bean noodles in New York bar none!Their springy noodles and rich black bean sauce pair beautifully together, and their boiled dumplings are delicious and juicy as well.Their seasonal special menu selection never fails to satisfy the palate. If youve never been impressed by jjajangmyun, go here.
Mediocre food, bad service. The waitress wasnt rude or anything but she got our orders wrong. We went as a group of 8 and had asked for two dishes to be made extra spicy but they came out extra mild. Turns out the waitress had misheard us(we ordered in Korean and it is easy to confuse extra spicy and extra mild in Korean, 더 맵게 vs 덜 맵게) and put the wrong order in. She did apologize but was not willing to fix the issue. After a while, another waiter came over and told us that he would bring us new food with the right order but that never came either. As most other people in our group were about done with their foods, we inquired about our wrong orders to our waitress and she simply said she was not aware that the other waiter had offered to change our food. Since most of us were done eating by then, we just waved it off but really, pathetic service. I wont be returning, especially since there are so many other Korean-Chinese restaurants in the area that offer better food and service.
The food is mediocre. Service is bad. Also my mother parked here for a few hours near their entrance and when she came back, her car was sprayed down with oil. It took her 2 hours to clean. I wonder who did that? If it was them, they need to be closed down for endangering peoples safety....
Very good jjajangmyun (noodle in black bean sauce). Their sauce is a bit sweeter than others, but some like it that way. Thats pretty much the litmus test of a good Chinese-Korean restaurant. Glad they moved from the tiny place deeper in flushing. This place is new, big, and clean.
Great food and a decent price. I usually get the seafood jjamppong or the half jja jjang myun, half jjamppong with kimchi dumplings. Absolutely delicious. Staff is attentive but occasionally slightly demeaning but nothing over the top. Definitely recommend coming here if you like noodles and are really hungry.
I ordered the spicy jjampong in large and they gave so little soup. the noodles were so dry because there was no soup. The noodle was not submerged in the soup like it shows in the picture. They gave way less than half of the soup than it shows in the picture. They give the same amount whether you order regular or large so definitely order the regular or else your noodles would taste so dry and bland. We specifically asked for more soup (like large amount) because we ordered here before and they still gave the small amount. When we arrived there we asked them if they gave more soup and they said yes ive heard when you called yet they still gave the small amount. i came here almost weekly but the spicy noodle and service is just too bad.
It was okay. My friends really liked it. They had chicken, beef, shrimp, a noodle dish for 2 people. Portions were generous. I had what I would call Shrimp tempura with a sauce. I would have preferred steamed shrimp with bok choy and other vegetables, as a healthier choice.I didnt like the tea, egg drop soup or bread. The Mu Shu dumplings and spinach dumplings were excellent. To the restaurants credit, they did comp us with the soup, an order of vegetable dumplings and a desert.
The local authentic noodle shop (Korean Chinese style - an interesting history on its own) offers the best cha chiang mien, sweet sour pepper chicken and samsun jjamppong in NYC. Recently it starts offering the mixed plate, which has all three dishes in one order, a great combo!
Joong Koog Jip is an excellent restaurant with nice, thoughtful and kind servers. It is reasonably priced with excellent portion sizes. So if you are looking for a delicious meal with great value then look no further! The Ja Jang Myun is a staple! Its a dry noodle dish with a thick soy like sauce with minced pork and vegetables, Its not spicy. Another dish is their Jjam Pong which is seafood stew with noodles, this one is spicy. They have a non spicy version called the Noodle soup with seafood which is equally delicious. If youre having trouble deciding which one to try, they have combos where you can get one of each. Save space for a free desert at the end of the meal. HIGHLY Recommended!
This is our go-to Korean/chinese food restaurant in queens. I always get the kangpong shrimp. Its so goooood. I can use that sauce and mix it with the rice. They also have the half jjangjang myun and half kangpongi. The best part is the dessert that comes out. Its alittle doughballs stuffed with corn and has a hard sweet sugar coating.
I have been visiting this place for a quite a long time now. When you are craving for Chinese food, try Signature Jjam Pong, it is subtly delicious to savor on. They are offering some great menu for noodles, rice and dumpings that too in a very nice ambiance.Ja jang myun (noodle in black bean sauce), you won’t get such delicious noodle anywhere in Bayside.. I go for it again and again. You can also try their Fried Shrimps, Vegetable Mandoo, and Chicken Fried Rice.

2022-04-08I was craving Jjajangmyeon for dinner and decided to try Joong Koog Jip since I’ve never been here before. While the service was great I found the food to be mediocre. We ordered:Omelette Fried RiceJjangmyeonTang Soo YukEverything we ordered was shareable as the portions were huge! They also gave a small dessert at the end of the meal.

2022-03-31Had dinner here for the first time with friends and the portions are quite large. A bowl of Jjajang Myun can easily feed two and the Tang Soo Yuk was big enough to feed a family. If you want to control the amount of sauce on the Tang Soo Yuk request it on the side.

2022-01-15The best Korean-Chinese comfort food. We like to order the pan-fried dumplings, the stir-fried leek and buns, the seafood jampong noodles, and the half and half noodles (black bean sauce and seafood jampong).

2022-01-01Upon trying several different Korean-Chinese restaurants, we always end up coming back to Joong Koog Jib (Bayside). Their food is solid, the quality is great, and the service is always pleasant. Following are what we tried and recommend:- Spicy Ja Jang Myun (고추짜장), Jjam Pong (짬뽕), Noodle Soup with Seafood (하얀짬뽕), Signature Jjam Pong (웃기는 짬뽕), Shrimp Fried Rice (새우볶음밥), Tang Soo Yuk (탕수육), Ggan Poong Gi (깐풍기)

2021-03-06It was sooo good! Price is also reasonable, only $35 per person, including tips. Waited about 15 minutes for the food. Also 2 different types of noodles in one dish is a great option for foodies like me that can’t decide which one to get.

2022-05-11Joong Koog Jip is a great restaurant. Their signature jiajiangmyeon is probably one of the most popular menu items. The jjampong is also highly recommended for those who love spicy food and seafood. I would recommend the tangsuyuk as well since it is not spicy at all, its fried beef or pork with a golden sweet and sour sauce. I would also recommend the shrimp tempura with spicy sauce. All in all, this restaurant provides excellent service with large portion sizes so you are definitely getting your moneys worth.

2022-05-10My whole family made a reservation and went there. I have been going to this place since the original owner open the restaurant. Be aware! This place is no longer owned by original owner. Many of you complained about their food taste change but its the ownership. First, their service was the worst! Waitress were mad and raised voices because second floor reservation rooms were full and a group left because it was loud. We just came in and didnt know what was going on but when we sat they were mad and complained about the people left. I dont know if she was mad because of the group left or other group dinning there or even us??? Then the foods were awful. JJajangmyun was cold and the onions were raw!!! just raw, uncooked!!! I wish I took the picture of all dishes. It is understandable because they were busy on Mothers Day but when I told the waitress that the JJajangmyun onions are not cooked at all. She said that is how jjajangmyun should tasted like. Are you kidding me? I been going there more 10 plus years. All my family who had it agreed that they were uncooked like salad onions. We are family member of the original owner!!!! Come on. And that was her last response!!! No apologies or asking if they can make a new dish? Why didnt I ask for a new dish ? Yes because I didnt wanted to ruin my Mothers Day!!!! But you did! Jjamppon, again was cold, they started to used frozen shrimp mix with regular. What a shame. You should be shameful to even take the tips. (Why did I paid the tips? Because we are nice people and it is our gift for the last time) Then waitress were gone after other two parties left no serviced were there. My husband said he will go down stair and get some things we need. They went down stairs to serve... wow) This place use to be my and our familys favorite restaurant but no longer. We will never go back here. If you want to continue with the business, please train your waitress to be kind and teach them communication skills. Food? Well you will see by number of customers. Good luck.

2020-01-12First time visited this restaurant. I liked the noodles which had texture. The soup noodles had a lot of seafood including shrimps, mussels, squid pieces. It is money worth. The Interesting one was the fried pork with sweet and sour sauce which was usually red colored. The one from this restaurant looked more like gravy to me but tasted good. And the free dessert was sweet fried dough.
