Actors get stuck in the mindset sometimes of trying to be someone theyre not. Someone more famous, someone better looking, someone they view as having more talent. Ive finally learned though that being you is actually okay. Because theyll always be someone you view as more famous, better looking, and more talented. But no one, not anyone can be as utterly authentic and unique as you. Jordan brings out that authenticity and uniqueness of what makes you YOU in his shots. Stand up guy and wildly fun shoot. A true 5 star experience!
Jordan Matter made such beautiful images of me- both headshots and full body images. Ive never been a fan of taking headshots before and yet I thoroughly enjoyed the process with Jordan because all he wanted was for me to be myself. Highly recommended head shot photographer, especially for those who need that extra boost!

I have now had three headshot sessions with Jordan over the years. I have come back to Jordan every time solely because he is the most passionate photographer I have ever had the pleasure of being photographed by. Having been in front of a multitude of photographers for headshots, commercial print jobs, and modeling shoots I can confidently say there is something truly unique to what he is able to capture with his lens. A special comradery existing between the eye, the mind, and camera that few know. His enthusiasm for art and life is infectious and the fire he has for his craft will feed that of yours allowing him to capture that spark, that glimmer in your eye. If you let him, your shots will be anything but cookie cutter. Rather, beautiful, honest, raw, real representations of the actor, dancer, performer you are so that you can get called in for the parts you are striving for.
Jordan Matter is a talented and kind person. I watch all his videos and my biggest dream is to meet him. Hes a great guy.

HI Actors,I dont usually comment on websites or anything like that however Im writing this since I dont want you to waist your money.All my friends recommended Jordan Matter to me and for some reason I resisted it for a year and I spent same amount or even more elsewhere and I didnt get what I wanted.Jordan is truly a master,you can be the judge of that yourself -thats why I attached my headshot.Warning:Jordan can be really funny.
If I could afford It, Jordan does some beautiful work. Any actor or model should seriously consider using Jordan Matter Photography.
It was an amazing experience overall. The location was great and beautiful, got to see the uptown of Manhattan that Ive never seen before. Everyone was super friendly, I was feeling a bit nervous at first but really after a few minutes, the environment of everyone there made me feel much more relaxed and involved.
Runs his operations like a factory. 2 hours MAX whether you have a good shot or not. It is more important that he keeps to his time frame. I got worthless shots from working with him and there is no reshoot policy. If you are going to spend a grand on photos, they should be at least half decent, I looked like pasty crap and when I wrote asking about a reshoot, I was told by his assistant that it can all be fixed in post. So I have to spend another couple hundred dollars to fix his lack of care and attention to detail.Go elsewhere...
Ive gotten my headshots done with Jordan twice now over the last 6 years. He is an absolutely lovely person and his shots are truly eye-catching and extraordinary. Every member of his staff is super professional- emails are responded to swiftly and the turnover time between the day of shoot, getting images, retouches etc is super speedy. Its always a joy shooting with Jordan and I cannot recommend him more!

He did a crap job with me and wont do a reshoot unless I pay almost the entire amount again. And do NOT use his makeup artist. Everything was caked on and looked terrible. Had to spend a lot of $$ getting it fixed in post and it still looks shoddy.
Jordan was so accommodating and professional, and I ended up with beautiful shots. Totally recommend.

2017-02-07Why Jordan? especially when this city is full of good photographers, even some great ones? I actually took time to sit down with several of the latter ilk, and most were fine technicians. But when I talked to Jordan, I definitely got the feeling he was focusing on ME, not doing some canned pitch. His staff is incredible, attentive, and they work as a well-oiled machine --- I was going to say like theyre family, but Jordans crew is anything but dysfunctional! :-) He inspired my trust, which is not that easy: I am, after all, a woman of a certain age, shall we say, so Ive heard a lot in my time.I can guarantee you that Jordan Matter is the real deal! He has somehow managed how to find a way to put his heart and soul into a lens that was able to capture mine.Im not his mother! Call his office - theyll give you my number.Note to Yelp: Why ONLY 5 stars? This guys exceptional ....

2013-08-05Im surprised to read the bad reviews of Jordans work. I had a two hour session with him and got so many great photos that I had a hard time choosing which one to use as my headshot. He has a wonderful artistic eye and a great ability to get the best out of me. I was a little shy during the shoot but he has such a great personality that I soon loosened up and let him work his magic. I used his make up artist and she was fantastic, friendly and generous with her time. I highly recommend Jordan and his make up artists.

2017-01-24Jordan is great. I had the most fun working with him and got so many beautiful shots that Im having a hard time deciding which to use! His makeup artist, Val, was also really lovely. I wound up looking like a prettier but still natural version of myself-- always the goal. Also, we shot on the roof and the natural light looks really amazing. I wont need new shots for a while after this, but if I did I would go back to Jordan in a heartbeat.

2017-01-31Great shooting location. Jordan and his team are very friendly. He communicates with you straight off the bat about what direction you want to go in with your shots, and he honors that. The session can be fast pace, but trust it and go with it. Jordan has an amazing eye for what works; his pics are fire. I recommend it along with the make-up artist.

2017-03-23I really cant gush enough about Jordan Matters team.Ive been fortunate to work with some talented photographers and makeup artists. Jordan Matter is one of the best! He gave some very good direction. Im used to being all smiley for shots, but we needed some serious ones and he knew just what to say to get the expression we needed.Rebecca Robles is the hair and makeup artist. She did a great job making me feel comfortable and bringing out my eyes with the natural makeup and hair.Laura Agra in the office kept me up-to-date with scheduling and made the whole process seamless and easy (and fun!)Much appreciation and love to all!- Crystal Haring

2018-03-22After a 10 year break from acting, I went back to my all-time-favorite photographer for new headshots - Jordan Matter. Not only are the pictures fantastic, but the shoot was so much fun...and I get really self-conscious having my pictures taken. Shooting with Jordan is like a photo shoot-party. Its silly, lively, and he manages to get you so relaxed that your true personality shines through. He also knows how to give the tiniest of adjustments, in the simplest of ways, that make such a difference in your shots. I couldnt recommend him more highly.

2017-01-26When the time came to get new headshots, my agent recommended that I use Jordan Matter. I have a dance background and had read Dancers Amoung Us, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him. I made an appointment with his assistant, Honor, who was kind and helpful. The FAQ section on his website was extremely helpful in preparing before the shoot, and bringing several simple wardrobe options.The day of the shoot started with an amazing hair and make-up artist who talked me through every step and asked specific questions for my makeup to be sure I would still look, and feel, like myself when she was finished. She let me check my appearance several times, and make slight alterations which I was so thankful for! Jordan arrived with so much positive energy and immediately made me feel secure and safe in what is usually a vulnerable position, a photographers subject. We chatted for a few minutes to get to know one another and discuss my look and type, he helped to pick the final wardrobe options, and then we were off into the cold! We began shooting with the make-up artist and an assistant on hand to help with lighting and put in their two cents, which was refreshing and comforting. I was told that Jordan does not show clients their photos until the session is finished, which made me a bit nervous. However, I was relieved in the end because Jordan captured hundreds of shots and honestly I would have felt nervous and self-conscious if I had been shown them during the process. When I received the photos, there were so many amazing shots to choose from, I had to resort to the help of my agent, several family members, and friends to pick!All in all, I left feeling confident, empowered, respected, and with some incredible and diverse headshots! Thank you, Jordan!

2018-02-17I had a great experience. I was always a fan of the dancer books. I was even able to add my husband into the session and get some great photos, since we never had proper wedding photos. The location is nice and Jordan and is staff are wonderful. Everyone was so talented, warm, and professional.
