Ive heard people raving about Jays and how is decorated since they reopened. Well....The decor is modern and elegant . The menu for breakfast changed to a variety of different egg concoctions that did not attract my palate. So I decided to go with regular breakfast, two eggs oe, home fries, and bacon. I was told they dont do those kind of breakfast but for this time they would. Huh ? That was a lot easier to make than what they had on the menu .... Please dont do me no favors 😒Thanks Jay but no thanks....I got up and left...Colonnade diner, here i go ...😋I stand corrected .You mustve taught your employees that same business 101 class you wasted your money on. (don,t worry, I wont bill you for it ). 👌And that is exactly why I rated you with a 1 starGood luck pal...
We got to J’s a little early and the two ladies that opened this morning were SO kind. One offered for us to sit while she opened and the other offered to have us sit in the back and she would bring us coffee. It was a great start to our trip. The food was fabulous and filling and fine coffee was amazing and hot!
Best place in staten island for brunch the service was beyond expectation place is clean great ambience and the food is great we had the blueberry lemon French toast I felt like I was in Manhattan overpriced restaurant . We also had the mozzarella sticks with a vodka sauce and the best are their mimosa . But I can tell you the service was amazing all staff very friendly . Definitely will be my place ❤️
OMG!!! Love the new look, we came to celebrate my son passing his drivers test. I mean I’ve always loved Js but I came in to be wow’d by the new look (love love love)! The staff was great and attentive even if we were the last people to come in for the night. We were pleasantly surprised with just about everything the calamari, huge home made mozzarella sticks and lobster Mac was great. We ordered the chocolate Zeppolis and they were a bit mushie in the middle but super tasty. Even the coffee was great in big generous cups. Although I’ll miss the 50s diner look, I do enjoy the modern comfort feeling.Overall, great job and best of luck! We will be back for lunch soon !Ps I’ll take better pictures for next time!Thank you Js on the bay !!
Awesome 80’s type place!Clean and great vibeGreat service a lot of tons of food options.Me and my coworkers enjoyed the experience. The caramel fries were the bomb!!!Prices are good tooDefinitely recommend coming here although just beware that its not a huge place,Max 4 people seating at a time.
It was our first visit Js, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Lisa had the short rib and I had the chicken cor don blu....both were deeeelicious. Truely outstanding. As much as we enjoyed the meal,That is also how much we enjoyed the conversation with Joe the chef owner and Kaitlyn our server. We highly recommendJs on the Bay.P.S. the banana bread pudding (cake) with bruleed bananasawesome Thank you both, Rob and Lisa Dorso.
Culinary Experience on all aspects well worth the frequency of all the pretty foods looks too amazing to eat ,but I indulged and take home what I cant finish because I order different things that you just cant get anywhere else in this area at all. Caitlin is the manager and managing well ....get here before you cant get a seat !!! Tommy K
Ordered around three weeks ago. Great breakfast, really poor lunch and dinner. Everythings made fresh; however, I wouldnt recommend the burger or parm fries from here.2/5 (3/5 if you disregard below) because the restaurant did not follow the special request(s) that were done purposely due to allergy reasons (i.e., asked them to remove tomatoes).Ill probably give them another chance next month.Edit: Uh, very concerning response from the owner implying Im lying about being allergic to tomatoes. Theres a reason why I included it in the view -- I didnt make it a big deal because Im smart enough not to consume a portion with tomatoes and I figured it was on Doordashs end that you didnt receive the note.Read additional replies from folks here. While some reviews are straight up ridiculous, whoevers in charge of responding to reviews need to be humbler as its seriously embarrassing.
J’s on the bay is DOPE. George was such a blast, every time he came to the table, it was an absolute pleasure! We got the basics, a Caesar sale and a burger, medium/rare. Food was awesome, looking forward to trying more of the menu!!!! FINGERS CROSSED FOR THAT LIQUOR LICENSE!!!
Been a J’s customer for over 3 years. The only time I’m disappointed is when I go for a specific specials menu dish and theyre already sold out of it. But then again, I’ve never been unsatisfied with my backup plan. Chef Joe is pure talent, the place is like a perfect blend of that retro 50’s diner theme but the cuisine is gourmet, top notch and always a treat. Love ❤️ J’s. Don’t miss out! #EATATJS !
If you have not eaten at J’s on the Bay then you do NOT know what you are missing! The owner, Chef Joe Salimeni, is a food genius! He put together a 5 star feast for us to enjoy. Lester rocked it out all night at the pizza oven. One after another - focaccias along with four of their most popular brick oven pizzas - de-li-cious!!!From the apps (the Short Rib Egg Rolls were my fav) to the entrees (J’s Famous Chicken and Waffles for the win!) - THIS PLACE IS IT!And don’t forget to save room for dessert! Milkshakes, Banana Bread Parfait and Pumpkin Egg Rolls. Joe’s dessert game is strong! Thanks J’s on the Bay! Everything was beyond expectations. We will be back again soon!
I gave these clowns TWO chances and they failed both times! The first time I ordered, my turkey bacon was UNDONE and luke warm. It tasted like it was microwaved vs grilled. That particular time they charged me $22 for 2 sandwiches, one bagel, and 2 can sodas. I called and they offered me a restaurant credit of $14.50 for the sandwiches that were disgusting; however, the rest was unaccounted for (still dont understand why it cost $22 for a $14 order). Then the driver arrived begging for a tip, and his car reeking of pure cigarette smoke!! The smell was so potent.(I think he was smoking while delivering the food with the windows completely closed.) Extremely unprofessional. Anyway, I decided to order from them again, and I received, as you can clearly see, BURNT turkey bacon. I told them well done not burnt. And to put the icing on the cake, it took them over an hour to deliver BOTH times, and Im only 15min away in the car.... Please do not order from these careless, disgusting people.SN: I have a feeling the grill man intently burnt my bacon this time, because last time I complained about how undone it was. I am literally appalled by their behavior.
It looks like a little diner from the 50s retro. The breakfast and lunch are great, and staff is very helpful. Prices are reasonable. They serve different specials weekly the only drawback here it’s a small restaurant and you might have to wait on line outside but it’s worth it.
This place is great for the most part. There are 2 waitresses that know what they’re doing the others not so much which makes the place inconsistent unfortunately. The food is delicious but some items are too eclectic but I appreciate the fresh ideas for the neighborhood.Overall I would recommend this place lookingForward to the new revealUpdate: example the specialty coffee etc are made differently by different staff and some waitresses aren’t as attentive ( even if it’s slow) you can just tell who enjoys being there and who doesn’t
My favorite restaurant to order from. I love the bacon, egg and cheese on croissant. Their shakes are awesome. I also love the open face Roast beef with onions and gravy for lunch. Everything comes hot. I moved further away from them and the food still arrives so fresh. And shakes always quite cold, with the fluff perfect. I love Cannolu and Fruity Pebbles, There are Malteds I would love to try, plus the chicken and waffles
Treated myself! Little Diner in my hood with a 1950s feel really surprised me. I previously thought it was only a good breakfast place. Chef has credentials from the French Culinary Institute on the wall. They now serve lunch and dinner (busy lunch crowd) and are considering an outdoor patio or possibly a rooftop lounge. They are asking for patrons to vote online. My vote is for the pizza oven, but my friends say we need an open air view spot for a brunch place to fight the weekend hangover. Lol. I rate these guys an 8 out of 10 so far. Ill come back for dinner one day 😎 Btw, great service with a smile and super generius portions. This was a half wrap with a small side salad. Nothing half or small here. Just delicious and generous!! Grilled chicken sauteed mushrooms cherry tomatoes wilted baby spinach melted swiss and J’s Signature Truffle Honey Reduction.
I have ordered here plenty of times and I would highly recommend. Their food has always been well made (tastes great) and presented. I love their coffee as well! I have also ordered multiple times during this pandemic (even during the peak), and honestly they were great throughout which is praiseworthy because I have had a few slip ups with some other spots due to everything that has been going on, but Js was as usual really great.
I did not get to see the interior due to the fact that they delivered directly to my car. The guy who brought my food was very pleasant. The food itself was delicious in every way. Among the decent amount of food that I ordered, I also ordered a roast beef sandwich. I felt it was a little skimpy, although delicious and the bread was very good as well.
We had a great family breakfast there today, as we were 6 people. The food is so delicious and with quite a selection! The service is also great as our food and coffee both arrived nice and hot. We loved the 50s decor. The staff was friendly and made you feel welcome. They have definitely made regulars of us.
Ive been ordering breakfast from this location for over 2 years. They have improved their menu and they are pretty consistent compared to other diners around the area. I am not sure about lunch or dinner as I never ordered anything else expect breakfast. Staff is also friendly which is a big plus. Will continue to support this business.
Just visited for the first time. Just to start out the portion sizes were great really got your moneys worth and everything came out cooked great. The icing on the top was our server Sammie however. She gave us some great opinions on selections, never made us feel pressured and always left us with a smile. Ill definitely be back and be sure to bring more friends next time.
Incredible food, great take-out service. My husband and I ordered the morning of our anniversary for take-out that night & we were not disappointed! The food was ready on time, everything was incredible, and the employee who brought our food out wished us a happy anniversary. Even our shakes made it home in great condition. Thank you!
Excellent place! Great food and good prices. Great atmosphere. I was there yesterday with a friend and we ate on the patio and had the best waiter (Im so sorry I cant remember his name. I THINK it was George... 😟). He attended to our needs without hovering and was very friendly. The pizza guy - Im so bad with names - was also very nice (and handsome too!). They made you feel like you were hanging out at a friends instead of at a restaurant.I had the great white personal pizza. It was so very good and filling. I could only eat 2 slices of it. My friend had the meatloaf with garlic fries. Two thick slices of meat arranged really pretty with fries thick as gherkins! When we were done, they didnt rush us out and when we did leave, our waiter shook our hands and the rest of the staff wished us well.Great experience!
I never write reviews, but this deserved one.We ordered food over the phone for delivery and told them that we would be paying by credit card and tried to pay over the phone however, they told us that we couldnt pay over the phone and had to pay with the machine when the food was delivered. At no point during this process did the woman on the phone mention that there is a credit service charge. I asked if they could provide sugar free syrup with my pancakes, and somehow, as a breakfast joint, they didnt have any. We were also told it would be here in 45 minutes, it came after an hour. John came with the food, the credit card machine didnt work, then spent 20 minutes trying to get it to work, at which point he was trying to charge us twice for a credit card up-charge that I happened to notice. At this point I tried to get the manager on the phone, J, who was not willing to take the phone. I was told that the delivery driver would have to drive back with the food to get the new machine, mind you, there were eggs and pancakes in the order, which were ruined by this point. All said and done, they couldnt charge us due to the machine, the manager didnt want to resolve the issue, the lady on the phone, Carie, didnt want to take the credit card over the phone up until the very end, after 20 minutes had passed by. They ended up taking the food back, after 1.5-2 hours we have no food and a ruined Saturday morning. This is horrible, horrible business and service. At the very minimum, the manager should have the decency to talk to us. 2nd time trying this place and both experiences were poor and not to mention ridiculously expensive. I would never go back again!
I’m typing up this review as I sit at the restaurant itself ! This is my first time at J’s on the bay and it was an awesome experience! My fiancé and I decided to check out the food here and let me tell you!!!! The food was so delicious. We both got J’s steakhouse burger. He got regular fries but I got sweet potato fries. It came with a pickle. We got got Diet Coke and a milk shake. I got the Oreo milkshake and he got the fruity pebbles milkshake. It really tasted like the cereal so good! The Oreo is so so so delicious. The presentation was amazing. The set up of the restaurant is very nice. It’s basically a diner but very up to date. The staff has great energy. We are definitely coming back again!!!
I dont like writing a bad review unless Im completely upset. I have been ordering from js on the bay for many years now. Ill alternate between Jerrys and J on the bay. I dont have any other diner breakfast options. Today hubby asked me to order his breakfast 2nd or 3rd breakfast straight in a row. About $75 in breakfast. The order took long to come. Hubby ate his food he was starving. He did leave me a small portion. When I say Im completely uncomfortable with the taste of home fries. Absolutely disgusting and old. No way potatoes should ever taste this way. Im saving the rest just in case...today I will have no option but perks and thats a $15 cab ride. Never again
Scroll past all the good reviews and youll see their true colors! They do not care about the quality of food, they care about your money. Theyre very overpriced for sub par food and poor customer service. Go to Perkins Restaurant & Bakery on Hyland Blvd. They use Door dash, Ubereats Grubhub, ect. And their food is reasonably priced and delicious every time. The delivery driver at this restaurant is straight from a trailer park... Always smells like cigarettes when he delivers food, asking for tips (although he didnt earn one) and overall nauseating. Youve been warned.
Amazing food coupled with 50s old diner atmosphere. A true rare find in the world of polished and overpriced dining. Js steak burger enough for two tasted amazing. Walnut salad very well balanced and the portion is large. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy this place again.
Js is very close to where I live. I have picked up, had food delivered and eaten in. Each experience, whether it was for breakfast or lunch, has been great. The staff is always friendly and the food is very good. If youre looking for something different but still delicious for breakfast, this is your spot. The burgers and sandwiches are also great during lunch time!
Ok, so me and my husband went there for breakfast twice at 7:30 am and they were open and lively. If you want new AMERICAN breakfast in a classy AMERICAN setting in Staten Island, search no longer. You will find it in Js. I havent tried it yet, but they have root beer floats, and this is the next thing on my to do list in Js. Food was delicious and the waitress a very nice and attentive person. Since this was our first time there, she make couple of suggestions and we tried their almond French toast, which was heavenly. And if you have little kids or just like Captain Crunch cereal, they have yummy Captain Crunch pancakes and they are huge!!!!! Their chef constantly explores. Their summer menu looked so good, I literally wanted to try everything. Its a small but very homey diner with a very friendly staff and customers!!!! I recommend
It exceeded my expectations. It was my first time going and I thought it was going to be like a regular diner but obviously newer. It was better. Walked in and you get the Johnny Rockets feel then you walk to the back where the outdoor seating is and its very welcoming. Definitely going back and the food was good. I dont like meatloaf made outside but I took a chance and it was amazing with their pesto crusted potatoes
Js on the Bay is a small, retro-1950s restaurant that serves delicious, fresh, imaginative food that changes with the seasons. In the fall and winter they offer squash and pumpkin-based soups and desserts and in the spring, fresh vegetable and fruit-based dishes and desserts. Everything is made fresh from scratch. They also have delicious meat and grilled dishes and change their menu weekly. We have never been disappointed by the food or service. Street parking is tight and the restaurant is small, but worth the trip. They open early for breakfast (7am) and are popular for lunch - but they close at 8pm every evening, so if you want dinner youll need to get there by 6pm. They also offer off-site catering. I highly recommend Js on the Bay.
Ok, yet again I forgot to take pics. Was a family outting so wasnt thinking about reviews. But.. ordered the Js Bacon and Egg (with the fried spinach). Really good! I recommend. Coffee could have been a bit stronger, but not every pot fills the same way, eh. Will def go back and maybe at night, to try their dinner menu too.
During this hard time I am very skeptical on who to order from, I took a shot with this place and it was amazing. The quality of food is awesome . The delivery man was very nice and everything was delicious.I ordered silver dollar pancakes with bacon , BLT with the parm fries , BEC, and Cheese burger deluxe.I definitely recommend this place!
One of the worst delivery experiences Ive had. Tried to order two burgers and fries and not only were the orders wrong - I didnt receive tons I paid for - the good also arrived cold thirty minutes after it was supposed to. Id like to believe that the food is better in the restaurant but just based on how awful the cold, incomplete and overpriced burger was Im never going to give them that chance. At least the milkshake was fine.
Omg! Im addicted to this place, I came here for the first time about a month ago and go at least every other week. The food is delicious, havent been let down. The staff is friendly and attentive. I look forward to the Specials because they are unique. My all time favorite are the sweet potato fries. Keep up the Great work!
This place is awesome. I am vegan but theres tons of options. I had Some toast, avocado and tater tots. Great service, service was on point. We sat outside in the patio area. Lester was an awesome soul who was truly so kind to us along with all the other servers. I give this place 5 stars!! #Namaste
I haven’t found better place on all of Staten Island to eat. Prices are extremely reasonable for what you are getting. You paid regular dinner prices for up scal quality food. Great to go there anytime a day always have a great meal. Always order off the specials menu never a bad choice. (New specials menu every week).
Love this place. The food is great and creative. Im here all the time with the family and they treat us well and make us feel very comfortable. Is a bit small inside and sometimes they get really busy (because the food rocks) so youll need to wait but once youre there, the food and service is well worth it.Easily one of the best places on the North Shore!
Very sad, when people are so unprofessionalTo reply to my review which Im wel.in my rights to have ....#geturshi@t2getherThats the whole point of Google review.🤔 I think you should just apologizefor the horrible service n food from which your establishment displayed.***Moving forward just make the necessary changes to improve.Insulting me will not change my opinion nor my review on your establishment.Wrong person... i paid in cash$$$for trash 🗑 food.Food made me 🤢🤮Never again 😒
This place is awesome. My I tried a bite of the chicken and waffles and the breakfast burger. They were both amazing. Somehow they make their sweet potato fries taste like a doughnut- best thing ever!!! I dont eat meat or dairy so I ordered hashbrown and the breakfast potatoes. The breakfast potatoes are so good. I could just eat a double helping and be satisfied. I would skip the hashbrowns though- nothing special.
My husband and I go to Js on the Bay at least once a week, the food has never disappointed. The regular menu has classics and then items you sometimes double think and I have tried them all. But when he puts out his specials I have always been wowed. From the food to the service that we receive they have made loyal customers of my family and I.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Very disappointed today. Came with my boyfriend to have brunch. I ordered an omelet with a side of salad and fries he ordered a lobster roll. We both ordered milkshakes. We were seated in the back outside which had multiple tables with umbrellas except our table and one next to ours didnt why I dont know. So we waited for our waitress to come but she never did until 20 minutes later we asked to sit under a table that had an umbrella so we moved our seat. Once we placed our order she brought me my milkshake which was melting all over the place instead of offering me napkins to clean it I had to used the 2 napkins in the table. I received my omelet which was ok. I never got my salad. My boyfriends lobster roll which is served fresh and warm any other place was cold. The waitress never asked how is everything. I had to ask another waiter to find her. Also I had to ask another waiter for water for the both us he brings me one water. Once she came over I told her the lobster roll was cold and she replied well thats how its served. So we asked her to warm it up and with a nasty remark she turns and says how would you like me to warm it up? So my bf says I would like to order something else and she said what do you want in a nasty tone without even giving him a menu. So she calls over J the owner he says well its a lobster salad so its served cold and my bf asks if he can switch it something else and he says well what do you want we said we need a menu. We were so turned off by the nasty attitudes that we decided not to order anything and just asked for the check. I came to this place a few times before and never had issues. The service was great the food was amazing. Im very surprised and disappointed. I will never come here again. They dont know good customer service. They were extremely impolite and unprofessional. I dont know the name of the waitress but she was blonde with long hair. Avoid her if possible. Shes got no customer service skills at all.
OMG. I loved this place. Right on a main thoroughfare, Bay St., Staten Island. I toured the Alice Austen House, and the staff recommended Js. So glad they did. Old school diner food, attentive staff. I had the spinach tomato omelette. It was huge, served with toast and home fries. Delicious. Really enjoyed this neighborhood place.
A friend and I came in to order chicken and waffles. Theirs has a ton of cheese and dairy they put on it which shouldnt be a problem for anyone else but Im lactose intolerant. When I told them to hold off that the waitress explain to me that the waffle has milk in it. I said that isnt problem and I would deal with that. 15 minutes later when the food eventually came out it was covered in cheese and all the things I told them that I did not want. Expecting this to be a mistake I told the waitress about it and she argumentatively exclaimed to me that she made me aware of the dairy and that I replied Yeah Im okay with it. Obviously I was clearly talking about just the waffle itself which I made very apparent during my order. I didnt have them remake it because of her response and was worried how it would come out. It seems the customer service being delivered to most other people was lackluster.
Chef Joe is extremely creative with his very eclectic choice of foods. You can also taste the quality of ingredients, especially in the meats used. My husband and I eat out a lot and try to support all Staten Island family owned restos. Js on the Bay is DEFINITELY one to try out and will probably be our new go-to diner. The decor is nostalgic with the retro diner feel. Check out menu but the daily specials are fabulous. Bravo Joe and Francesca!
Food was good, prices fair, service ok. Definitely wasnt overwhelmed, and a little disappointed since it was supposed to be one of the top brunch spots in Staten Island. It wasnt terrible, and if I was a local, I could see myself growing to love it eventually, but for a one off thing trying to take someone out for a nice time, it didnt blow me away.
Vey rude customer service. i was a regular customer with them for year. last time I called the restaurant to order food the customer sevice agent answered me with the rude manner and mocked my accent. She behaved like that she is giving food tor free.Sandwiches are pretty expensive but the food sucks in recent times.Summary Disgusting their food and their customer service.
I usually never go out of the way to write reviews like this but I felt it was only necessary... this place is a mess everything is really unorganized I waited a long time for French toast to come out and my husband ordered a salad food was great though ! turns out there was a fly in our plate, although our waitress was very sweet... I think the owner needs to take control over their fly issue I sat down in a booth on the side and it felt like I was in a fly exhibit..
Whenever I go into J’s, I always feel special. The Staff always makes me feel like I’m at home. Not to mention the food is literally amazing. I come every Saturday morning to try out the new weekly specials and I’m never disappointed. Chef Joe you always pull it off.
Frequented Js with my wife for lunch. Ordered a PepperHoney Pizza and Kung Pow Chicken Wings to start, neither disappointed. The pizza was crispy and the cheese balanced the heat of the pepperoni and hot honey perfectly. The wings were spicy, not too saucy, and were outstanding. Roast Beef sandwich with Mozzarella and caramelized onions was great all on its own. However, when paired with the Demi Glace - even more amazing. We can not wait to try some more items during our next visit!
Food was decent. Definitely not worth the hype. Service was terrible. It took a long time to even have someone take our drink order, they dropped off a glass with ice for my iced tea but 15 min went by and they never brought the actual tea. It was semi busy but all of the servers were congregating at the counter. Menus closed staring... The server was at the counter chatting it up. After sitting for almost 20 min without ordering yet my husband and I looked at eachother and said we were about to leave if she didn’t come over in a min. She finally did. I ordered the lobster roll.. which was actually very good, however, for $20 I feel it was very skimpy. I’ve had many lobster rolls and for $15 it’s usuallt busting with lobster meat. Not this, it had pretty much nothing except two excessively thick pieces of bread. I can never usually finish my meal totally, but I did with this — that’s another way I know it was not very filling compared to what I’ve had in the past.We also ordered the “avocado caprese” ... with a name like that you would imagine there would be avocado... there was — no exaggeration— 2 thin slices of avocado off to the side of the plate next to a few nice size chunks of mozz and tomato slices. This was pretty good but a bit misleading.I feel like if the service was a little better I would be ok with the lack of value — but you can’t have bad service and bad value too.
Delivery is the worst; but let me be clear - the food is great, the service is great, the options are unique and needed on Bay street....i can only suggest speaking with other food places that deliver to get new ideas and tips on improving deliveries ; i will continue to return to eat here often.
Terrible service DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. This is the first review I’ve ever written, I’ve had a few bad experiences in the past and never felt the need to review the places but I was so appalled of how I was treated by the owner and employees of this establishment that I must share. I ordered for delivery 4 bagel sandwiches, they charged me extra for avocado but didn’t put avocado in any of them, they didn’t toast as asked, didn’t add hot sauce, they literally didn’t do anything I asked for. they sent me cold bagels with spinach, that’s all. When I called I was told that I was lying that the kitchen assured they made it exactly as I wanted then the owner spoke to me and said the same thing, as if I would waste my time to lie about a sandwich. The owner is extremely rude, terrible customer service. With so many good small businesses in the area who care about their work and customers there’s no point in wasting your time and money on this place just to leave unsatisfied and insulted.
Slow delivery ( took 1 hour 20 minutes ) ordered pancakes and a sausage egg and cheese sandwich and both were incredibly bland in taste. Pancakes were way overcooked and tasted charred while the breakfast sandwich used sausage links cut in half school lunch styled. expected way more than this, couldve walked to my local bodega and got a way better sandwich for way cheaper. very disappointed (I usually never write reviews but this was just ridiculous)
I tried really hard to try and like this place. Considering it probably has been on the island for a while and I know business is hard here. Thats why I give it a one pity star and its not just a one star. The food is overpriced and service is extremely slow. 3 out of 4 people got our meals and we were waiting for my last friend to receive his food. We saw it come out from the kitchen, but then it turns out that the waitress didnt give it to us but give it to another person who was just a party of one so all of us have to wait for that one dish to come. Did they forget or was the order messed up? We will never know because the waitress didnt tell us anything or even start to apologize for the long wait. I ordered the chicken truffle salad sandwich and there was more cranberry and avocado than any chicken and there was definitely no flavor of Truffle in it. It arrived on my plate stacked vertically on a super wide plate. Why do you need to vertically stack my gigantic sandwich up when the plate has so much leftover space. Why are you making it harder for yourself? Furthermore, its so ridiculous that you would order a sandwich with cold bread that probably just came out of the refrigerator. It was so hard to eat that I gave up after just two bites of the bread, then threw those pieces of rocks aside and just ate my wilted salad. I also didnt appreciate that waitresses attitude when we were asking about the mushroom burger. When she asked us if we wanted it medium, well done, rare, am I supposed to know what shes referring to? Is it the beef? Is it the mushroom? How can we eat the mushroom rare, well done or whatever? We asked nicely - she can answer us nicely. How are we supposed to know if its an actual beef burger or a vegetarian alternative? Am I to assume that all Staten Island restaurants dont really serve vegetarian alternatives? Make your menus more clear...ridiculous. The fries also shouldnt be hyped up, they were somewhat undercooked and all they did to make presentation better was to put it in one of those cute mini frying baskets. And fix the dang dining table - all our drinks kept splish sploshing all over the place. Not coming back here again. There are so many better choices...at least their coffee was pretty ok. But its ok, there are even better coffee places elsewhere on the island. Thanks for an unsatisfying meal........
I should request a full $60 refund. Burgers not made as ordered. Too much onion, no other seasoning. Good French fries Roast beef wrap was grossly soggy and also lacked taste. The Texas toast grilled cheese was disgusting in taste and texture. The Hershey Zeppoles were wet and falling apart. As hungry as I was I ended up having cereal for lunch and cooking dinner. Sorry, big 👎👎👎
Never a disappointed meal!!! Always great food and service, the owner is usually there a good sign of a successful business, every week new specials, on occasion some of the staff is slow with taking orders or refilling drinks too busy on their phones but all in all a must stop spot in Staten Island
Ive been an addict of Js on the Bay from the beginning. Im in customer service, so Im an expert in this field :D Every one of the waitresses get your order correct, refill coffee before you ask and you can catch their eye if you need something else. Second, I love food, so I am an expert here, too! The chef comes up with things that you would never imagine to put together, yet they freakin work!! I trust his imagination and culinary skills and have not been disappointed once. He has opened my palette to new taste combinations every time I go. They have recently started a dinner service and is powerful addition to the awesome restaurants on Bay Street. In addition to everything delish, his presentation is awesome from the arrangement of the food to the dishes he chose to plate them on. Half my IG posts are his beautiful creations! Anyone that knows me knows how often I go here and recommend eating here on a regular basis!! Pssst Try the chicken & waffles!!
Make a reservation for this hidden gem. Old-school look with new school eats that will make your eyes roll into the back of your skull. Went here for Fathers day brunch. Son had chicken and waffles, daughter had chocolate chip pancakes and I had the lobster Mac n Cheese. All good!
Great spot always on the money .... local diners cant do breakfast or brunch like Js can the quality here is like a good Manhattan brunch place but without the pricey bill......and soon I heard they are going to add a liquor license .... brunch just got better with mimosas.

2022-04-14Fantastic! They just did a full renovations on this place and it came out beautiful. And best part is the food is still delicious. Started with a warm focaccia bread with some ice cold NYC water to open up the palette. This time we tried mozzarella battens also the Burger and drunken dumplings (dont let name fool ya) its a pasta dish and its off the hook. The vodka sauce was some of the best i ever had. The owner Joe out did himself again. What a great environment perfect for date night or even a quick bite. The wait staff was great George explained some of the dishes. One thing it was lacking was alcohol. I hope soon. But the food makes up for it. We will be back of course.

2022-03-20I got the country fried chicken and waffles, and it was great! Usually I avoid waffles without syrup because I like things extra sweet, but the waffle was a great texture and flavor to satiate my sweet tooth well. The chicken was well cooked, and the gravy was the best thing they could have used to pull it all together! My friends and I were all very satisfied with brunch. We even got muffins and croissants as our free bread. Awesome place!

2022-05-01My son and I went here for brunch this morning and the food was outstanding! This was our 1st time here at the restaurant, we had tried to go there before a few times.... It was always really busy and NOW I know why! When you sit down youre given free minutes croissants with chocolate butter. 1 per person. Delicious. We had the chicken and waffles with sausage gravy, I had eggs and bacon on the best bread, Crispy spinach scattered on the plate. YUM!Best bacon EVER and we ordered a side of home fries. They were sauteed in mixed peppers and were so tasty. wait staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the food..My first time here but cannot wait to go BACK!Going next week to check out the dinner menu....

2022-04-05The place was clean, and besides the deflated balloons hanging from the ceiling, it was a nice decor. The food was fresh, although I like my food served as if it came straight out of the oven, it was ok. The atmosphere was like a neighborhood crowd and friendly. I had the chicken and waffles 🧇 with vodka sauce it was pretty good. Good food and experience I will go back again.

2022-05-09We loved Js on the Bay before its renovation, and now we LOVE it even more! The menu still has the classics, with a bunch of delicious new options. Friendly service, great neighborhood feel, and a wonderful covered patio in the back with an outdoor pizza oven that turns out amazing pizzas in a matter of minutes. The restaurant was closed for a long time during Covid, but it was worth the wait!

2022-03-20As an avid orderer of take out there is nothing quite like this place. Everything is phenomenal and arrives like it just came out of the kitchen. It feels like sorcery. On top of that, it’s all wildly delicious and the recipes and flavors are SO creative. We’ve also eaten in the restaurant and it’s just as wonderful. Easily one of the best spots on the island (and honestly probably most of NYC)

2022-02-19Sweet decor! My son and I took a well deserved break during rush hour and discovered this gem of hospitality and tastiness!!! We left with one of the best PBcup shakes ever! Made the rest of the drive so much more pleasant ❤️❤️❤️
