Definitely recommend this delicious vegan spot. Beautiful indoor decor + proper ambiance.Menu rotates on a weekly cycle (each day of the week has a diff theme). Also, really appreciate their buffet option where you pay by the pound — allows you to see and smell food you’ll enjoy.Highly recommend their hot chocolate — wow!
So happy I stumbled on this place through Uber Eats. The beet burger was delicious, especially loved the veganaise sauce. The Chorizo-style tacos were very creative. They are made of chickpea tempeh and come with roasted tomatillos, caramelized onions, and avocado salsa. The orders also comes with a soup or salad as a side. Excited to try other items on the menu in the future!
I happened to run into this place by chance and on the front said vegan buffet I was starving so it was right up my alley. The buffet was disappointing because it was 10.99 a pound so instead of paying 40 or 50 bucks I opted for a burrito. It was filling had good flavor but no spice. The entree came with a nice salad not just spring mix the dressing I had was the chipotle which was disappointing because it had no chipotle flavor. If I were to come again would definitely try something else. Service was good helpful but to me in my opinion just an ordinary vegan spot
This place is great! Ordered the potato mushroom tacos and was pleasantly surprised by the unique flavor. Like a pierogi & a delicious taco had a baby. I would definitely get them again. My friend got the burrito and loved it. We were too full for dessert but excited to go back and try the cheesecake and key lime pie!
Great Vegan food!! I came across this place accidentally and am I glad that I stopped by to eat the next day, I had the beyond vegan beef empanadas very tasty, I also had a avocado ranch beyond burger which was delicious and I think the best thing that I had was the butternut squash soup and it was just amazing 👏 😋
Called and ordered their breakfast burrito for pickup, ready in 10 min. Made my 40 min train ride and it was still hot!Down right delicious breakfast burrito. Nice flavoring to the tofu scramble and great balance of other components. Would recommend as THE plant based breakfast spot in Greenspoint.
The jungle cafe certainly had days where it was in its PRIME. Sadly those days are over. Currently the drinks are super inconsistent. Some days they’re great, other days they’re nearly undrinkable. Food is wildly overpriced for what it is. Also takes forever even if you’re the only person in the place. Would give this place a pass these days.
We used to love this place, but we had two recent disappointing experiences, and this time I let the management know through their form online. No one responded to my feedback. Really - I was hoping to hear that it was a particularly busy night, or that the kitchen had run out of the thing we ordered and apologies for making a substitution without asking, or whatever... but there was radio silence, which makes me feel like they dont really care so much. This is a very expensive place for what you get... It used to be that Jungle Cafe was one of the only vegan places in the area, but now there are so many other appealing options in Greenpoint/Northwest Williamsburg. I hope they turn themselves around, but I have been disappointed too many times to take a risk again.
I visited this place couple of days ago and honestly cant wait to go there again. My friend and I started with appetizers, we had guacamole with chips and ca cauliflower.they were soo tasty! Then we ordered a burger with a chickpeas soup and tacos. I swear the burger was one of the best vegan burgers I’ve tried so far. Even though it was late (they were closing soon) and also it seemed quite busy, the staff was super friendly. I loved that place and definitely going back 💜
Only one thing I got was unsatisfactory, but they hit 4 out of 5 out of the park.*Baja taco - outstanding. You only need like a third of that sauce it comes with max, it is very salty.*cauliflower wings - great, although they would have been even better if they were a bit smaller.*side kale salad - fantastic, so flavorful and satisfying.*double chocolate chip cookie - delicious, couldnt believe it was gluten free either. It was a little soft rather than chewy but so tasty and crispy on the edges.*Polish tacos - good but cheese wasnt melted, which would have helped this massively.*brownie - The one thing that was several levels down in quality.. It was so soft and airy and wet, almost like pudding. And the taste was just not there, there was no richness or decandance, it was just light-tasting and bland. Not bad, just not good. The hot buffet is also great, but its a little expensive.100% plant-based!
The most delicious vegan buffet! Baja Oyster Mushroom tacos are out of this world; Chef is constantly coming up with new, inspiring recipes. Another favorite is the vegan collagen berry smoothie. Great crew of kindhearted, community-centered people working to bring healthy, affordable and delectable vegan eats to the neighborhood
So nice to find a healthy vegan spot in my neighborhood! There is a good variety of food for many types of hunger cravings! I absolutely loved the Rose Cardamom Cacao, and it’s great to be able to ask for it to be unsweetened. This will definitely be my new go-to for delicious vegan food. Thank you! (I ordered delivery but will definitely check it out in person sometime :))
Were sorry to have to cross good food off our list permanently, but we paid $51 (including tip and nearly $10 in fees) for delivery of two burgers that took one hour and forty-three minutes to arrive even though were within about a mile of the restaurant. Not surprisingly, the food, although good, was barely room temperature. Between the outrageous wait and the outrageous price, its never again. In fairness, they do warn that its cheaper to order directly on their website but we mistakenly thought the difference would just be a few bucks. Instead, there were $9.50 in fees and each item was marked up a few bucks. Really infuriating!
Absolutely loved it. I got the Thai curry, and the macro bowl with golden milk, butter squash soup and the corn muffin. Everything was amazing and I could taste the freshness and how healthy it was. I will definitely order again. I am excited to try everything on their menu!
I love this place! During lockdown they were my lifeline. But even before, I have grabbed lunch or dinner here at every opportunity. I wish they would offer more specials! Because of how frequently I eat here I’ve had all their amazing dishes a million times. Also very friendly and helpful staff! Jungle Burrito is to die for, and all their salad dressings rock as well.
This place is unassuming on its exterior but really fantastic once you give it a chance. We are both plant-based so have pretty high expectations, and have found the flavor, portions, and price to be excellent both times we have went. Try the beet burger, burrito, butternut squash soup, mac n cheese, and all the drinks. Even your carnivorous friends will leave full and happy.
Food was good but honestly I wouldnt go again for the fact that I felt unwelcome for being Asian. The hostess was disinterested in us when we walked in - a white woman eating with her family was legit staring at me in puzzlement/fear for a good minute when she saw my face. We sat in the backyard to get some space since they were pretty busy, and no one came back to refill our water or anything. Just overall unpleasant.
Jungle is overall amazing. their outdoor seating is adorable and socially distanced. the food is consistently delicious. i’m not vegan but i love their healthy options and that they are conscious of food allergies. their burrito is so flavorful i even prefer it to the non vegan options nearby!!
Breakfast burrito was extremely delicious. that burrito isnt stuffed with rice, it had creamy sauce and balanced ingredients. easily enough for lunch. but cheddar broccoli soup, I cant be optimistic.add;Breakfast Burrito, Kimchee Sandwich, Oyster Taco OMG! Kale salad as sider. Must try! I can not wait to be hungry for eating from here.UpdateMy last 3 pickup orders were late. I mean i had to wait 15 minutes at least.
DELICIOUS.I ordered a burrito with spinach wrap as default and their lentil soup....I was honestly expecting an “okay” flavor or weird after tastes... I was wrong.Every single piece of food I ate was absolutely delicious, no strange after tastes and FULL of flavorful tastes!I was honestly impressed. You won’t regret eating here!
Great little vegan spot with a by-the-lb buffet and a la carte menu options. They are not trying to be a revolution in culinary creativity but they are making good straight forward dishes. Awesome smoothies too. Bottom line: high quality casual dining at decent prices.
The Jungle Cafe was my first experience. Really delightful preparations. We ordered the burrito, corn muffins, the nuggets, a lovely turmeric “milk” and a slice of the raw passion fruit pie. We will continue to support the brand! Great job 🎉🎉🎉thank you. Also, use the website - Seamless pricing a damper on the experience. But, great food! Thank you!
I am so grateful that Jungle Cafe exists and that its in my neighborhood! The staff is so well informed and genuinely warm. The food is super fresh and flavorful and you cant find a better buffet in the city. From juices to burgers and a kids menu, its my favorite place to eat.
Its a popular spot in the neighborhood. The carrot cake was a little too dry and too sweet. The drinks are really good. We tried three today and all of them are good. The salad bar is delicious and is a popular choice. Their menu is full of healthy and delicious choices. The service could be better though. I found the staff not very efficient and inattentive. You could have an accumulated line from time to time just because the staff at the cashier were talking to each other or chitchatting with a customer at the time that other people are waiting on the line.
Jungle cafe is the brightest spot in greenpoint!! They are as warm and lovely as their food and I’m just so grateful for them!! They’re conscious about what they put into their food but don’t compromise on the taste. There’s something on the menu for any plant based craving you may have. My favorites are their juices, the rainbow raw salad, beet burger, young Thai coconut shake and the curry! Also, their desserts are just sublime. Thank you jungle cafe!
LOVE LOVE LOVE JUNGLE CAFE! I just moved in to the area and recently became vegan! I must say, out of all the restaurants Ive ever been to in my life, Ive never felt so at ease. The place is so warm and welcoming, I would even suggest going there to just feel the vibes and see the art work!THE FOOD IS AMAZING! Im seriously wasting all of my unemployment money on food delivery! I must say (again) that I LOVE Jungle cafe and I cant wait until this pandemic ends so I can go and have my vegan Mac and Cheese and a smoothie on their low tables with the pillows used as seats, perfectly located by the window, I cant wait...
I am a meat eater at heart, but lately Ive gone to vegan places because the food tastes the same and is also delicious.I had the buffet at this place and it tasted very good. Texture is similar to meat, and tastes identical. The atmosphere is peaceful, almost zen. The furniture is cute.Definitely reccomend even for non-vegan eaters.
The Mac and cheese was really flavorful, well portioned, the cornbread is amazing. Wouldnt get the burrito bowl again, just because Im not big into Seitan, but it had lots of veggies and wasnt too heavy. The buffet is great, 20% off from 4-6pm, highly recommend. And the atmosphere is top notch, friendly staff, lots of light.
I recently made the healthy choice of going vegan and jungle cafe has been the perfect fit for that transition. They have an extensive menu to choose from. I hold heartedly recommend them even if you are not vegan and are just looking for good food. I would post a photo of my food but I ate it all;)
This is one of the best vegan restaurants in the Greenpoint area!! They are super consistent with their food and if you dine in (outside of the pandemic) they are all super duper sweet!!!! Not to mention the significant amount of plants and cute seating in their restaurant. Also their desserts are so so so yummy, for example, the carrot cake and chocolate chip cookies are my favorite. I personally have never found a softer vegan chocolate chip cookie. In addition to all of that the elote street corn is a MUST TRY. Highly recommend. I would be so sad if this place closes down in any case due to the current pandemic.
Food was ok but they were out of gf bread which is a $2 dollar surcharge and tried offering me regular bread which freaked me out, wondering if they understand the allergy. Anyways the $20 beyond burger meal was then pretty sad with ice berg thrown in and some brown avocado as the main attraction. My partner also had a burger prepared as usual and they gave them way more food and at least made it look appetizing. Also didn’t include the sauces I requested and was a rather dry meal. I prefer the buffet when I can dine in but that will have to wait.
My favourite vegan place ever. so many options to choose from. They keep me curious by adding new items to the menu..burrioto, baja oyster muchroom taco and beet burger are my very first choices.. always fresh. so so good. so much gratitude for having Jungle Cafe in my hood :)
The food and atmosphere are definitely good enough to give 4 stars, but the service needs to be done up here. The white gentleman has a bit of an attitude, or at least doesn’t realize how his tone could be perceived & everyone else just seems a bit spacey... I’d be much happier if this place just let you order and pickup your own food and bring it to your table... but alas... you’re expected to tip good here when you have to ask multiple times for water, the bill... etc.
Jungle Cafe is my go to restaurant because its the next best thing to a home cooked meal. Eating out all the time can be unhealthy and im so happy Jungle Cafe keeps their recipes super healthy, simple and DELICIOUS. My favorites are the beet burger and the macro bowl. The place has a great vibe and its squeaky clean. The staff are happy, they must be treating everyone really well over there, makes me want to quit my job and work there! A+++ jungle cafe!
Amazing burrito and staff. The burrito was so good I forgot to snap a picture before eating. Next time. Also, this was the first time I had vegan Mac and cheese and I was actually shocked by the way it tasted. Really really good. The pepper and steak was ok, not a fan of seitan as a meat substitute.
I finally made my mind on giving a review, Jungle Cafe has it going, granted, but IMO perhaps a little (a tiny) more consistency on the flavors. At least from my few visits experience could not repeat the taste trip. I will keep going and retry and update.Attentions were nice, welcoming but at times slightly detached.
Jungle Cafe is cute and has a good amount of seating, mostly communal tables, as well as some lounge-type areas with low tables . From what i’ve been told their buffet (the type of food changes) is usually really good. I’m not vegan (or even vegetarian) but their spicy tempeh tacos are DELICIOUS. a solid and very well thought out taco in its own right. The order comes with choice of soup or salad. The salad is good, nothing spectacular, but the lettuce /greens are fresh. Their mint lemonade is good as well, though someone light. Reminds me a little of a virgin mojito (except lemon). Solid place and open till 10:30 which is nice!
Amazing vegan buffet, honestly some of my favorite food in the city. Only downside is its hard to spend less than $20, since everything looks so good, but the food is worth it. The drinks and deserts are overpriced though.Theres also a limited menu available on Seamless, which is very good.
Horrible service. They cant deliver within the time range they declare. I even called bc the food was late, they dare to lie and said your order is left already. After 80 mins, it turns out the order hasnt even left. Dont blame on postmates or any other service. I specifically ordered from your own website, not even from Seamless. Only mention the realistic delivery time you can deliver.
AmazingSo nice to be able to EAT and STUDY in the same location. - a feat not easily accomplished. Environment is lively, active, colorful and uplifting. Food is delicious, vegan, gluten free, and coconut sugar or agave are often used instead of cane sugar. Any sandwiches can be made gluten free at no additional cost. You wont go hungry here!
Good option for vegan food. Should do better in staff training/customer service though. When asked the server told me all desserts on display were gluten free. He was a bit smug. Fortunately I pressed the issue. Another employee nudged him and let him know the chocolate cake wasnt gluten free. That could be a serious problem for someone with allergies. The food was fine with hefty servings.
Place is nice and clean, stuff very friendly. Food is amazing! You can find any kind of vegetarian dish, hot and cold, salads and cakes. Prices are average. The only thing that lowers my rating is mens restroom. My husband said that toilet seat is moving so you literally can slip off, urinal is out of service for couple of months. Beside that, this place is worth to come. I really recommend it.
Great first experience - food was prepped so quickly and there are so many fresh, flavourful vegan and vegetarian options . We ordered 5 different things and were thrilled with all of them - We can’t wait to have it again - can’t believe we waited so long to try it !
Food is burnt. Expensive prices for flavorless food. Deliveries take over 2 hours and are wrong. Staff is rude and replied to me to personally attack me for this honest review calling me a liar. I ordered the pizza 4 times and every single time it was burnt. It was not edible. Ive uploaded a photo.
Ordered nachos and the tortillas were incredibly salty. We also placed an order for a burrito and it was just okay, I ordered it with corn chowder and even though it tasted good it could have been more chowdery meaning more creamy. My wife ordered the curry which was a bit tasteless (curry needed something more). Overall disappointing first time visit as the food was mediocre and the service painfully slow. Will not return.
For a non-vegan, non-vegetarian, this place is still quite good. Tasty buffet options and a nice chocolate young coconut shake. Imagine this is a must-go for vegans. Casual spot with large tables would be good for groups. Intentionally WiFi free zone, friendly staff.
My friend is vegan and so every time we hang we go vegan! I have had my share fare of vegan/vegetarian places and this spot gave me a very zen with a hip twist kinda vibe. The food was delicious and fresh but even though no alcohol is served, they have very tasty hot and cold beverages such as tea and fresh pressed juices. A must try if youre vegan !
In all my 30+ years of travel and experience at restaurants, this is the best restaurant I ever experienced! It has the tastiest vegan food and the atmosphere is so colorful! Service is so welcoming and cheerful and prices are VERY reasonable with a wide variety of buffet foods to experience! I highly recommend it!!! Great soups, smoothies, juices, vegan meats, wide variety of salads. Thank you Jungle Cafe for coming to Greenpoint!!!! Your the best!!!!
So far the best vegetarian restaurant Ive been in ! Awesome atmosphere (colorful but cozy; kitchen smells all over the place) , tasty buffet options (I have only been there twice, couple of options changed, too). Sauces are unique and good to bring me back (even though Im cheap and prefer to cook by myself)Theres only two flaws :- its only 99% vegetarian (why not throw out that leftover of milk options ? Go vegan, yo- lack of ayahuasca shakes/cocktails
Sad to see another vegan joint that just doesnt deliver on flavours. Its not enough to just be vegan. You can make delicious vegan food, sadly the food here is just average, places like this is what gives vegan food a bad rep. The curry was flavourless. The tempeh tortilla was ok, but lacking in flavour and with a small portion size. I was really expecting more. Wont be back.
Ive always thought it looked kinda shabby from the outside. But i was WAY OFF. Buffet is 10.99 a pound and looks great. I ordered the mac and greens- a little expensive but a huge meal thats delicious. Saved some for later. They also gace kombucha on tap! Yay! Would love to come back with my growler and enjoy a zero waste vegan meal from the buffet
My new go-to when i dont have the energy to cook.. I ordered from postmates & got the burrito bowl, raw chocolate cream pie, mint lemonade, and mayan mystery smoothie and everything was delicious! the mint lemonade was the perfect balance of sweet and tart, the smoothie was creamy and not too sweet, and the burrito bowl was filling & savory! I probably wont be ordering the chocolate cream pie again, its a bit too rich for my taste, but thats just a personal preference. overall, ill definitely be ordering from here again and would highly recommend!
I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere here, and the service was friendly. I had lentil soup to start and then the tempeh reuben. I probably could have skipped the soup, both because it ended up being too much food, but also because it wasnt great. The reuben was good, though!
After trying several vegan resturants in NYC this has to be my very favorite. The food is fresh, healthy and they serve generous portions. I highly recommend the Macro bowl, so filling and delious...perfection in a bowl. We also orderd the Beet buger which was also very tasty. I cant wait to come back!
I just ordered the tacos and hibiscus tea, and im very happy. i am not vegan or vegetarian. this will be my go to place for a long time.when ordering specify whether you want your beverage sweetened - otherwise a very nice sounding girl will have to call you and ask what your preference is.
I have never experienced such poor service at a restaurant. We went up to the counter and were ignored for awhile while the waiters kept pushing us aside to carry dishes in and out of the kitchen. That should have been warning enough to leave, but we ordered and sat down. After never being offered water, the plates were practically tossed in front of us with no acknowledgement. The food itself was flavorless and unappealing. It wasnt worth eating, so we left. Seriously, dont bother. This place is awful!
Cute, cafe in Greenpoint. All vegan, theres a buffet bar there too. Tried their pickle soup which was interesting. Never had it before. It was sweet and tart, like how you expect a pickle would be, but in a warm soup. I had their tempeh Reuben also which I didnt like very much. Im sure they have better stuff. Liked the casual vibe and art on the walls. Id consider giving them another try.
I am neither Vegand nor Kosher but the Jungle Burrito combo with Egyptian lentil soup and a side of guac is My Jam. The fact that the best burrito I have ever had in my life was both Vegand and Kosher is some kind of minor miracle. Got mine without the vegand cheese and sour cream which I deemed unnecessary and was amazed at the quality and low, low price point, all served to me at a pretty communal table in a lovely, cheerful new space with great vibe, music and lots of beautiful people. Love the new location too, much more convenient and always along my footpath home down Greenpoint Ave from the G.
I had order with out garlic and onion food. I ask and tell them many times but they gave me with garlic and onion. If I would able to eat that food so why should need to go in vegan food. I always go in vegan restaurants but if they not able to make it then they say no but not like that.
The only positive about the lentil soup was that it was hot.It was more like drinking lentil tea (if that’s even a thing) with watered down Campbell’s. Bland af. Can’t help feel like I was conned. But that could b because I was really hungry Or maybe I just set my expectations to high. When I think lentil soup I think of thick, viscous, as mud soup. I guess to each their own
I stopped going here when they began to hide the scale weight from customers. Is that even legal? I was convinced they were over charging me. I hope they fixed it, but I dont trust them and wont be back. (giving 2 stars instead of 1 because they are vegan and the food options are pretty good)

2022-02-13Im not an idealistic optimist — I dont hand out 5 star reviews indiscriminately and unceasingly. But this place was fantastic! I could hardly believe how helpful and friendly the cashier/front receptionist was. Everything from arrangement to service is top-notch (and if youre a vegan — look no further for a beautiful date-night venue!)

2021-11-07Cozy warm cheery vegan restaurant. They have two window round tables with seating on cushions. A very nice touch. Rest of tables are the usual chair seating. Had the burrito bowl which was delicious and had saitan and beans (good amounts of protein). Theres a buffet option and also menu. They serve tea in a pot. Also a very nice touch.

2022-01-22A quaint little vegan cafe with a cozy community like seating. I love their tacos and beet burger. Now my favorite place to spend a chill afternoon nestled in their cushion seating with a book and some oat milk coffee

2021-06-15On Mother’s Day I took my mom, dad, sister, wife, and kids here for dinner. My parents an sister are not into vegan food. They LOVED IT. My sister has some interesting allergies that make vegan food tricky and she was able to order food here and loved what she had. My kids loved the variety. Portions are great sizes. Seating for large parties is available due to the type of seething they have inside. Outdoor seating is more for small parties. My family and I love this place and will be coming here again soon.

2021-06-26Not vegan, but enjoy trying vegan options. We got the cauliflower bites, beet burger, Baja oyster tacos, mac and cheese, green curry, and corn muffins. Stand outs were the Baja oyster tacos, green curry and corn muffins - so, so good. The mac and cheese didn’t quite hit the spot for me. Excited to come back and try more of the menu!

2021-09-28The lunch buffet here was fantastic. Excellent atmosphere and delicious food. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Definitely have to go back. More places should do a vegan buffet like this.

2021-03-17Pretty darn delightful. We ate in (hooray!) And the food was quite tasty. It actually tasted like non-vegan fast casual food. Not super elevated in terms of refinement but pretty good prices and nice staff. I would be happy to go back for a bite.

2022-06-14Coming from a non-vegan this place is great! I got the Indian buffet and my boyfriend got the breakfast burrito and both were very flavorful! Great ambiance and good prices, too!
