Juniors Restaurant & Bakery in other cities:
Of course this place is amazing. I only go here for the cheesecake, I get either the red velvet cheesecake or the plain one. I would love to try the strawberry one, but its not halal. The vibe here is so chill and laid back. I love the nyc historic vibe that it has. When I have people visit from out of state, Juniors is one of those places that I have to bring them so they can get a slice. I drive all the way from NJ just to come to the original Juniors spot in Brooklyn.
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in The New York area. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in New York. The cheese cake is amazing. Highly recommend!
Good service and appetizing food. I had the open faced turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and gravy. The turkey was moist and delicious. Great cranberry sauce. My husband had the combo pastrami and corned beef. Excellent! We bought a slice a chocolate mousse cheesecake to go.
Yasssss!!!! The food was on point and very delicious. I’m glad we choose this location because it was so much bigger than the one in Time Square. It was crowded but not unbearable. The atmosphere was great; the service on the other hand was not so great:(Overall, we had a good time:) And the cheesecake, is to die for🤤😋🤤
The first thing to do is take a trip to the second floor. Stairs are old and strong with brass in the banister. The bathroom is very clean, perfect to wash your hands before experiencing the finger food you are about to eat.The flour battered onion rings are bringing memories of a trip to a country fair.I came for the onion rings but I stay for the cheesecake. The secret of surviving this diet is to only eat half what you order.Cebulka jest smaczna.Esos anillos de cebolla son maravillosos.Tak, mówiłem cebulka była wspaniała.They refill my coffee without delay. I’m glad they keep up with the changing times as well. They gave me a milk substitute for my coffee. In my case I chose almond milk.Even the planet benefits from the owner’s attitude for being ecologically friendly. The straws for drinking are biodegradable too. However they promised the plastic bags will be replaced by paper bags as soon as their stock is finished.
Had the cheesecake from Juniors most of my life but never physically gone to eat there until today my friends birthday. Tried the Something different and it was amazing 👏🏼 🙌🏼 😌 the mushroom gravy was everything and of course you cant leave without getting a cheesecake. This time the carrot cheesecake. Glad to know Juniors never disappoint.
The best thing about this place is the dessert & the awesome service, theyve got that covered, hands down. Ive never had a bad experience here ever. Only, the food leaves a lot to be desired. My chicken strips were way too thick & undercooked/ pink & chewy & my Mac was on the warmer too long so the pasta was too soft however, the flavor was pretty good. They did have prosecco & seltzer water w/lemon which was phenomenal. Absolutely drop in for great customer service & dessert though. You wont be disappointed.
I love Junior’s! The cheesecake is delicious and it’s always a fun environment. I’m assuming the service at this location was slow due to Covid, but I feel like if they spread out their 20-some cashiers, this may help. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, so we ordered our cheesecakes and sat outside. I also wanted a drink, so I had to go all the way to the other side of the restaurant to get one. I waited at the bar for a few minutes but ended up leaving without a drink because the bartender was also a waiter and he had too many tables. Aside from the extended wait, the staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean. I’m sure they will eventually be back to normal operations soon, they just need help.
I visited Juniors on four occasions in June, along with my son, sister and niece, all from the UK on a short break in NYC. We had a great time in the city, but what topped it was having Juniors around the corner, where we went for dinner one evening and breakfast several mornings. Great food, nice people, well return soon I hope!
This place was awesome! Like traveling back in time. Super clean, very friendly staff and the food was delicious!Update!!!I went again for a second time this week and my server, Willy, was exceptional! He was taking care of multiple tables and was moving at fast pace and with purpose. My steak was delicious and could not have asked for a better last meal while in Brooklyn.I look forward to returning!
Wooooow! The French toast was so good! Reminded me of the French toast sticks I had as a kid. Had a somewhat crispy exterior and was perfectly seasoned and sweetened. Will definitely be coming here again! Also, fantastic service! I wish I could remember my waitresses name but she was prompt, accurate, and always had our waters full. Two thumbs up!
My first visit to Juniors was great. I did a take order of Cheesecake. The Service was awesome. The two guys at the register for take out really had patience with a woman who came in that really was a little off. Those two guys deserve a commendation for professionalism. One of them came to take my order and told me just have to wait a few.The pineapple cheesecake was good.
We stopped here for brunch and had a great experience! Classic diner environment. The food was right on time. Bakery was jn the front and Restaurant Entrance on the side. We were so full that we did not get a chance to taste a Juniors dessert yet. 😱 Stay tuned on our part 2 review because we will stop before we leave New York for sure. 😋❤️Our waitress Tainia was absolutely fantastic. She was very welcoming, attentive and extremely helpful. Great food and overall experience.
I don’t normally leave reviews but felt this one was important. I ordered latkes with applesauce, and the applesauce had a bug in it. Seriously disgusting. I talked to them and they gave me a refund and a $20 gift card to the restaurant, but it didn’t feel like enough to make up for it honestly. this experience was so gross i don’t know if i’ll be able to eat for a while. Very worried about food borne illness here. The staff were nice about it at least.
I brought a strawberry short cake from here and I cut me a slice to only find that this cake Is literally 97% frosting and strawberries. There is barley any cake. I’m very disappointed in this. I’m just scooping cream to the side just to find cake. The taste is good but they charge you so much for this cake full of cream.
Great to be back in New York. Have been wanting to return to Juniors to try the cheesecake, we were too full last time we came! Got a table easily. My husband and I tried some local IPA beer, had the roast turkey dinner and 1/2 BBQ chicken. Ordered the Brownie cheesecake and Red velvet cheesecake. Had to bring some with us as the cheesecake is huge! Well worth the wait.
I ordered the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and it was delivered today. You will notice a bit was missing. Mmm. Jrs is the best and I have tried many other flavors. One of my favorite breakfast is waffles with about half of just the filling. I love when it is presliced so every piece is the same size. I am glad I can choose a delivery date that is convenient for me.
Food was delicious. I had the BBQ ribs I went off my diet for those ribs and a slice of cheesecake. 😂 They were also selling cheese cakes on the outside. I had a wonderful waitress name Josefina. She was amazing. Check her out if you decide to go there. She deserves a nice tip as well. She works hard for it.
Used to eat at Juniors for many years..But after my Mom passed in 2014...I hadnt had Juniors..but was pleasantly surprised everything was just as I remembered..My friend met me there from GA. We had a good meal.I had cheeseburger and fries, plain cheesecake.Took home a red velvet slice & a strawberry cheesecake slice for family members. My friend had pastrami sandwich and fries 🍟.
Came here for just the best cheesecake in the world, however, it was just okay. I do believe the size of the slice was worth the price. We tried three flavor profiles: Red Velvet, Key Lime, and Strawberry. They did cure the sweet craving, but I wouldnt call it the best cheesecake in the world. For being fairly busy though, the wait wasnt bad. The womans bathroom was really unkept, I cannot fail to mention this. And Derrick the waiter was really kind and friendly.
I will be calling tomorrow morning because they are closed I have been here many times since the age of 5 when I had my kindergarten graduation party here. Now I order a strawberry pie. Usually I’m able to pick the one I want but the guy was so rude in not allowing me too I got a pre boxed horrible pie. I cannot even eat it. It’s sour and spoiled. The strawberry is so sour and rotten and so is the pie it actually smells so sour and it’s slime I am so disappointed. Not only do I want an replacement pie. I want my money back. The boy at the register lacked customer service skills. I came all the way from NJ and I my children were very disappointed when I brought this sour pie home. Thanks Juniors you have to do better. 🤢🤢🤢
Finally got a chance to try it out, try the deluxe cheese burger with fries and rings, the expertly cooked well done burger, kills it, with its charred and tender yummy goodness. Make sure to bring home their signature and famous cheesecake🧀!!! Juniors is on my list from now on!! Great Job!This restaurant is a staple here in Brooklyn! Atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. the wait time for the food to hit the table was about 15 minutes.
Recently visited in March and the service was amazing. Affordable prices with tasty food and great portion sizes. I had the french toast with bacon and eggs and I was honestly full for hours. This is a great place to stop if you have a lot planned for the day and need a good meal to hold you over.My waitress, Imani was super attentive and pleasant!ALSO -- Can yall bring back the CORNBREAD?? Definitely was a bit let down that there wasnt the usual offering of cornbread before the meal. Overall, Im glad you all made it through the pandemic!
Juniors is a staple of downtown Brooklyn and my mothers favorite restaurant. I dont get to visit often but love their cheesecakes and amazing milkshakes. If your into pastrami like my mom is then this is definitely the place for you. They are also famous for their pickles and beets on the table as well. If your in Brooklyn be sure to stop by and get some amazing food with dessert!
How many downtown spots are so big theyve got a backroom bar customers whove been frequenting twenty years dont even know about? Professionally dressed bartender straight outta central casting mixes a divine old fashioned and can tell you what day of the week you were born from a birthdate. Juniors is a Kings County institution. Dont believe me? Ask Barack.
Juniors Restaurant is a great place when you want huge tasty portions that guarantee you leftovers for the next day.A friend told me last month about Juniors and how good they are.We decided to checkout the restaurant. We went there on a Monday around 6:30pm. We quickly got a table to sit at.It has a typical American Diner flair. The service was all the time friendly and great.Their beer options are fine. They have around 5 beers on draft and a few bottles too.We ordered as a starter the disco fries. The waitress already told us that the disco fries will be a huge portion. The fries combined with the Mozzarella cheese were great but filled me up quickly. As a main course I went with the Scoop salad combined with their egg salad. They dont have much vegetarian options, which was expected for my visit. Vegans wont find anything here. The portion was massive and delicious. I could just finish half of it. The rest is planned for the next day.All over I had a great time at Juniors and would go again. Especially to try out the popular cheesecake I heard a lot of good things about.
Come here for the cheesecake but we are hungry so order some food tooBut food is so sogot the bad waiterDidn’t offer us the complimentary food while we wait for the food, find out that later after I asked to change the tableOrder the cheesecake back homeIf its really good like everyone sayStill hesitate to go back
Juniors used to be a pretty solid option for a diner. We had quite a few good meals there but the pandemic seems to have taken a toll. Breakfast today was quite disappointing both food-wise and the service. Staff got our omelette order wrong, brought out the toast well before the meal, and only buttered half of it. Omelette, although wrong, was just okay. Partner said eggs benedict were also so so. Coffee was fair. Doubt well be returning soon.
Place was great! All around the service and food was excellent! First place I ever been where another waitress was going to take our order. Going back tomorrow too get desert just got too full lol . Place is really great food. If I get here again I will be back to eat.
Food was okay but poor attention to details and scattered service. Matzoh Ball was not bad but had a canny flavor versus traditional homemade stock. Hot open beef brisket was sloppily delivered without applesauce as it appeared on menu, otherwise was not bad. Pastrami on rye was good but bread fell apart. French fries were excellent. Hot fudge sundae had no whip cream or cherries as advertised and though the cheesecake is excellent it came without whipped cream as we had requested.
Brooklyn Juniors is an historic landmark that been around for decades. This particular Juniors my family has been coming here for over 30 years for the different varieties of fresh bake cheesecake. The staff is great and the food is for everyone. You can rest assure you will find something on the menu.
Have always loved juniors cheese cake. I ordered the carrot cake cheese cake. Just by looking at the cake from the outside it looks very dry . I still took a chance and it ended up being just that . The cheese cake itself was done perfectly. The cake needs some moisture and it would of been a lot better .
Some things never change, and nor should they. Junior’s is a perfect example of that. The rustic ambiance, the friendly staff, and their delicious cheesecake which the intersection got renamed after all speak to the same. If you’re ever craving an Italian cheesecake, don’t give it another though and head to any one of the 3 Junior’s location. You will not be disappointed. You might get crazy full and want to go for a run after like we did but it would be with a satisfactory smile 😊
I didn’t try their most selling cheesecake- Strawberry cheesecake because it looked too sweet (also confirmed by them) and tried their next best selling one- red velvet cheesecake. It was good but I didn’t find any difference here from the ones sold at other places. For the cupcake, the chocolate on top was hard and I thought it’d be a soft chocolate whipped cream. What I liked - Raspberry cookies. They’re so soft and 😋😋😋Street parking is hard to find here, so better to use Spothero app and park in a garage.Honestly, this place is difficult to review in just one visit because their cheesecake collection is huge.
Worst food Ive ever had. Everything was unseasoned. No salt on the fries, the mashed potatoes tasted like they had gone bad, and they came with gravy. Which was not mentioned on the menu, and was not good either according to my meet eating family. Never Again!!! Only giving two stars, because I havent eaten the cheesecake yet.
We really enjoyed this old school restaurant. The food was delicious & our waiter was very pleasant. We ordered the special which was a cup of soup & a half of sandwich. My Lord it was lots of food. There was also cold slaw, a generous amount of dill pickles & sliced beets! They are known for their cheesecakes so we ordered an individual chocolate slice which the two of us could hardly finish. It was excellent. Thanks Juniors. We are glad your shiny lights lured us into your interesting restaurant.5/21/21 - We came back Juniors to enjoy your fantastic restaurant! Derrick was the best server ever. He recommended the lunch delights and we took them. Derrick suggested Matzo Ball Soup. It was the best I have ever eaten. All the food was scrumptious and the atmosphere pleasant. We enjoyed people watching from our table. Thanks so much for this lovely experience once again Juniors.
This legendary restaurant is a must when coming to New York. Every time I visit relatives this is my go-to stop to eat. Its a great place for celebrations they have the best cakes especially their cheesecake. I used to eat here with my grandma all the time and she recently passed. Its good to see this place is still open and has great quality food. Itll always remind me of the good times we had here.
I cant speak about the food as Ive never ordered it, but the cakes...These cheesecakes are absolutely delicious. This is the second time Ive come to Juniors, with me getting a chocolate cheesecake the first time. These cakes are a little on the pricey side, but theyre really worth every penny. Juniors is hands down the best place to get cheesecakes. The thing that really has me coming back to Juniors for cakes is that the employees actually wear their masks, which has been rare for me to see considering that in almost everywhere I go, including the restaurants in this area (City Point) like A Taste Of Katzs, nobody wears their masks properly. It helps me feel safe, which is why I keep coming back, especially for cakes as amazing as their Red Velvet cheesecake.
We had lunch . I had tuna my friend pastrami sandwich. The bread was dry, the tuna taste as if was taken straight from the can then served. No spice , no mayonnaise, lettuce, ect. Just a sandwich. And same for my friend. We both didnt enjoy our meal. The Coleslaw was just cabbage with lots of vinegar. Almost every one was leaving the coleslaw on their plates.
Everything was great, the service, food and price. Havent been here in years but I was not disappointed this go round as Ive been on previous occasions. But as a Brooklyn staple I figured why not give it another try.Ordered 2 bacon cheeseburger deluxe and some breakfast food at around 4 pm. Everything was great and felt well separated during this pandemic. Drinks and shakes with cake was as good as their known to be.Total bill was around 150 for 3 people who all left extremely full and satisfied.
Chicken fingers with sauce is always a must have! Also I had the salmon with veggies and rice... the salmon was done to perfection the vegetables with sauteed to deliciousness the rice was a little on the hard side. But over all the food is good. So if you are downtown Brooklyn stop by you will be happy 🥰🙏❤
I went Juniors today because of course, I love their cakes. I bought a cheesecake and 3 cupcakes . When I got home I decided to eat the chocolate cupcake first. I was so disappointed because it tasted dry and stale. For the price of a cupcake, this should never happen. So I had to vent my feelings..👎
There is a reason the cheese cake is world famous. The staff is always friendly, the food is absolutely delicious! If you are in the mood for sweets Juniors stands in a league of its own. If cheese cake isnt your thing, I highly recommend the red velvet cake or cupcakes.
There were some great things about this place and some needs for improvement.Ill break it down by categories:1. Ambience: The decorum needs updating. When I walked in, there were men seated at the bar and people seated about the restaurant. One side of the restaurant was dim and looked closed. The otherside was bright. I guess that was the look they were going for, because the bartender appeared after about 20 minutes when more people showed up to the bar. The wooden table I sat at had was worn and stripped. Some tables were nicer, so if you dont like your table, just request another one. Other than that, it looked the same as always. Not bad if youve never been before, but its time for an update.2. Service: It was mixed. The host seemed afraid to do her job. She asked us where we want to sit, and I said wherever we will get good service. She looked around as if she had no idea where that might be. So she let my friend choose a window in the corner, which looked like the worst possible place to sit for good service. I watched my time and the waiter came aftwr about 6 minutes. I was on the phone, but when he came over, I was ready to tell him what I wanted. Well he spoke to her then left! I tried to call him back, but he ran off quickly. I waited ten more minutes to see if he would return, and no return. I was hopping mad because my friend wasnt even the hungry one. So I went and found the manager, and he was very helpful! If not for him, I would have given one star.3. Menu quality: Lets get this out immediately- the prices are high for what theyre serving. I dont know what their rating is, but $30 meals are not what I would expecting at a family dining restaurant. A fine dining restaurant, maybe. There was a good variety of food and dessert, but I chose one of the easiest things to make- a burger with fries. If you want an affordable menu, this aint it. The drink prices are on the pricier side too at $15 a drink. A better price for what they are serving is $10-$12.4. Food quality: The manager brought out pickled veggies beforehand, and they were yummy! I love beats and cucumbers , so I was thankful. A+ The burger and steak fries looked delicious when they came out, but the taste was very bland, and the burger a tad dry. No seasoning on the meat or the fries! What?! I was very disappointed, but I was also very hungry. Whoever is running that kitchen needs to be demoted or replaced, because that isnt how you serve a meal. And thats not how you get people to return.5. Drink quality: like the drinks, the quality was mixed! The dark n stormy was delicious and well served in a copper cup. The rum runner tasted like a drink Id get at a frat party- I would have loved it in my 20s, but Im too old foe that now. If you are looking to get tore up, this place will get you there. For $15, it might as well. But for $12, they can keep some of the alcohol and make the beverage more palatable. All in all, 3 stars, hit or miss type experience. The other host looked a little more competent, and the other servers looked up on their game. I would consider going back if Im in the area. Maybe the food is like the drinks- some plates are good and some arent.
Not the most efficient nor welcoming place. The food is mediocre, it really is a theres nothing else open close by, so itll do type of place. Youd think they could at least get the hospitality part right. Not once, but several times when going to pick up an order, I was told to wait in line with customers that were placing their orders. Very inefficient, as I could clearly see my order just sitting there on the counter. The shabbily dressed white guy in glasses, hastily asks what I wanted, then I let him know Im picking up an order, instead of getting the order which was right next to him on the counter, he instead dismissively tells me to wait in line with the other customers, thats not smart...at all. Hes just standing there, doing nothing, playing with menus, and not being of use at all. The overall experience at this place is unwelcoming, they look you up and down as if your up to something. Perhaps, theyre trying to ruin their business intentionally, downtown Brooklyn can always use another skyscraper I suppose.
We visited Juniors and New York to celebrate my brother in laws graduation. While there, my father in law was a little. . . extra.Multiple times he changed his mind on things but our server Imani was absolutely amazing and ensured he had an great experience.Unrelated to our server, the food was phenomenal. Definitely a great place to stop in!
Not impressed when we stopped in for a late night treat and coffee. FIRST, the bakery part had NO coffee or hot drinks available, so we proceeded inyo the very busy restaurant. We were informed they closed in 10 minutes, clearly not wanting to serve us. We sat down anyway since they still had tons of customers still eating, and we only wanted dessert and coffee. It took them a Considerable amount of time to take our order and bring drinks. We were then served Ice Cold Coffee, after I insisted we no longer wanted coffee, we were still served hot but terrible tasting coffee the last 3 bites if our dessert, and then charged $4.50 EACH cup for the tiny disgusting, hot liquid. We paid the bill and left, but I totally felt ripped off and disappointed.
We had a great breakfast experience at Juniors. We were immediately seated and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The prices are very reasonable and the omelettes we had were huge. We both had the Western Omelette and both were absolutely stuffed with ham and delicious. The breakfast potatoes wee good and it was great that the breakfast mains included coffee or tea and juice. We also tried their famous cheesecake and we were not disappointed. The strawberry cheesecake is the most generous portion and is easily shareable.
I ordered the Carrot cake Cheese cake thru 800-FLOWERS. I love Carrot cake and cheese cake and the two together sounded really delicious. I pushed to the side the cost of this item ($89.00) shipping included because of its size and the fact that I probably would never find this combination anywhere else.It arrived well packaged and had adequate cold paks. It was taken out of the shipping box and the box the cake was in, the cake was sealed tight. I had a piece Easter which was 3 days after it had arrived. The carrot cake.was incredibly dry. About 3 hours later I became nauseas and eventually threw up. Horrible situation. So so sorry I bought it.
Visiting area and knew that we had to stop here, unfortunately for a 1st timer the environment wasnt welcoming the staff was busy having conversation across the entrance area where the bakery and deli. No one greeted us. We stood at the counter a few minutes before the young lady acknowledged us which was after I had greeted her. The conversation mustve been really important theh were having. I ordered 3 cheesecakes and 2 milkshakes, the guy stuffed the smallest bag he could find, I had to request a bigger bag and that was done with an attitude. Good cheesecake doesnt make up for poor service..
I’ve know Junior’s as a restaurant for over 50 years, we moved away, and returned for a pastrami on rye with a Knish, and Cole Slaw. The waitress had no idea what a knishes was and it’s not served there anymore. The Cole slaw was overpowered by vinegar - blah! The pastrami was also blah, just nothing to even rave about with the rye bread being packaged rye and so soft it fell apart. The cheese cake remains the same and great. My trip was saved the next day with a knish at Katz’s. No more Junior’s - they are from the days when Fulton Street was the only great shopping area.
Skylar is awesome! She ALWAYS greets with a smile and even takes the time to remember your name and your order. Dawn on the other hand is not as pleasant, I actually walked out of the restaurant this morning when I saw her. She is not pleasant at all. I will not buy when I see her
Juniors is an old school downtown Brooklyn restaurant known principally for their cheesecake. However, they have her variety of other items on the menu including other desserts, breakfast sandwiches and the like. It can get pricey and what you are basically paying for is the name.
One of NYCs most famous and iconic diners, which holds fond memories for me as I saw it almost every day for four years of my life as it was right across the street from my undergraduate University. While I cant say very much about its world renowned cheesecake, because sadly Ive never been a fan of Cheesecake in most of its incarnations, Juniors offers a plethora of desserts to choose from that will satisfy most peoples tastes. On my last visit after so many years, I had the strawberry shortcake. The cake was moist and not too sweet, the strawberries were ripe and very fresh, and the mounds of whipped cream that brought the whole dessert together was perfectly whipped. 🍰I also had the French toast. It came with a crunchy coating that added a beautiful mouth filling texture I really enjoyed. If youre ever in downtown Brooklyn, drop by Juniors for a quick or extended breakfast or brunch.
Liked this place a lot. We went for lunch and had a burger and a corned beef Ruben (delicious). The burger was quite thick and juicy and actually cooked medium rare, as requested. They served us some excellent cole slaw and pickled cucumbers before we started. Also, we had a slice of cheesecake for dessert that was truly excellent. Very friendly server who was great about refilling our water and everything came quickly. Prices are quite reasonable, too! Definitely check it out if you are in the area.
I cannot even express how disappointed I am 🥺 So I was super stoked to take my boyfriend here on our NY date to get THEE famous Juniors Cheesecake! We get there, and there was hardly a line plus they have good social distancing practices in play (love it). We spend a pretty penny here, we got a raspberry cheesecake, a brownie explosion cheesecake, a plain original cheesecake and a few slices of different flavors such as the strawberry cheese pie and the carrot cake cheesecake slice... It was over $100.00 and we were happy to spend it because they are so reputable as the best. Unfortunately *EVERY* cheesecake that we purchased - slices included (Plain whole cheesecake EXCLUDED) were absolutely *TERRIBLE*.... The worst was the carrot cake cheesecake (I was most excited about this one since carrot cake is my FAVE!) It was in a container marked Red Velvet... no problem... But it tasted STALE and OLD and just, Bad overall, it had a distinct refrigerator taste... like its been sitting out for a LONG time... the same was the case with the brownie explosion - the chocolate tasted so off and bloomed... the raspberry cheesecake was also, subpar... nothing tasted fresh... it was an immediate first taste test disappointment. The only reason I am giving 3 stars and not ONE is because the plain cheesecake was Delicious... but when you buy SO many items at the inflated prices they sell them at and only ONE of the 6 are good its simply not enough. I would recommend that They TRASH all of the old cheesecakes and start with a fresh batch... I simply cant understand how such a popular spot could afford to tarnish their amazing name with old/stale/gross cheesecake and slices. I expected better, now I just feel robbed. Had to trash everything but the Plain one and it was so sad. That is all 🥺
Its a New York institution for a reason. Reliably good food, reliably good service. The menu has several classics on it, pastrami sandwiches, reubens, cream soda... When you sit down you get a small bowl of cole slaw, beets, and pickles... the staff is attentive without being overbearing. If you want an above average diner experience you come here. I dont feel the need to reiterate how good the cheesecake is, I would just say they have other baked goods and dessert items (cookies, pies, milkshakes, etc...) that are also worth trying as they are pretty great as well.
This place is all about the Cheesecake...Yes, you can eat other things but why?The servers where excellent and the portions are more than enough. (Even if you dont like to share, lol)The original cheesecake comes plain. But i didnt know that and my server brought me a little plate with the strawberry sauce. So yummy!I considerate myself a Cheesecake expert and in Juniors they know what they are doing. Go there right now! U R Welcome! 😎
I though there was no way Juniors could live up to the hype. Turns out, it is just really THAT good. We ordered way too much food (the sides are practically entree sized) and I still have no idea how I managed to devour a serving of strawberry shortcake the size of my head.
I used to come here almost every week. I relocated, came back to the city and stopped by Juniors. I came and asked for a table for 2. Then 2 white people came in after me and asked for a table for 2. They were sitted first. I was very confused and asked why that party was sitted first. The hostess gave an explanation that did not make since. Im saddened to see that everyone is not treated equally 😔
The food there is to die for it is so good it is so good the service is excellent the cheesecake you can leave out of there without having a slice the service there is so good theres so efficient were taking care of you they make you feel like kings and queens in THERE.
Summary: ONLY ORDER THE CHEESECAKES IF YOU COME HERE. BETTER YET, JUST GET IT AT THE TAKE OUT SECTION.The restaurant part of the place is dark, and the decor is old, which is fine considering it is old and its supposed to be part of the charm of the original juniors location. However, the tables are small and DIRTY. The food is over priced and terrible. Service is not great either. The salmon pastrami was interesting, I expected thick slices of succulent salmon, but instead it came out as a slab of cold salmon that wasnt cut or anything. Also got the steak burger which was ordered medium rare, but came out well done. Sent it back and they replaced the burger patty, but the lettuce was missing. The onion rings have more batter thick batter than onion. Save yourself the disappointment and money and only order the cheesecake when you come here.On a positive note, the cheesecake is good but the quality seems to be declining over the years. Its not as good as I remember it.
Nice breakfast serves there. Free coffee, small glass of juice and toasted or pastries are free if you ordered main dishes. Server in there is friendly too.I love their corn beef omelette the most and their bacon is yummy, whi h is crispy but not too oily.I will come back for breakfast for sure.
This place lives up to its reputation! I ended up buying the large $73 strawberry Cheesecake! Wanted to bring something back from NYC & figured this killed 2 birds with one stone. Always heard they were good... then when I got back... I actually cut a piece & my goodness... I had to sit down 😄This was probably the best strawberry Cheesecake Ive EVER had! The Graham Cracker Crust! MY Goodness! Some good Sugar Honey Ice Tea 😎
At first the prices seem a bit high, but then you get a big plate packed with food and you understand. The burgers are 10 oz burgers, and the omelets are probably close to a pound. And they are known for their cheesecake. Highly recommended, very interesting atmosphere.
OMG! What I craved? My cheat week cause I cannot finish a whole cheese cake in one day. A family visit to Juniors just for Cheese Cake, my two nieces, my sister, my son and myself. I could not wait to get home to wrap my lips around the fork that held the piece of delicious Strawberry Cheese Cake goodness. I dont know what I would do if Juniors were to close and I couldnt get a slice of heaven when I needed it. I was born and raised in Brooklyn so Im am very familiar with this restaurant, I remember how Diddy ran the city but the band walked across the bridge for cheese cake. The sure it was truly worth it. Thank you Juniors I very much enjoyed.
Yum is all I can say! Chocolate Egg Cream is not necessarily my thing but the banana shake was worth every bit of caloric challenge it created. The shake tasted like it was made with real bananas and not much more than ice cream, bananas and cream/milk. Im not mad at that! Cheeseburger and Brisket Melt yum and very filling! Calamari melted in the mouth! Go with a healthy appetite (and its cousin) and prepare to enjoy!
Hopped in for breakfast and took a spot at the bar for french toast and coffee. Not bad for $17 - toast was huge and cooked beautifully and the apple sauce was pretty fantastic... part of the price is you’re paying to eat at a Brooklyn institution. Pretty far from perfect. Bacon was chewy, coffee is that classic tasteless diner brown water and most of the servers looked pretty bored and there was no conversation to be had. For breakfast I’d give it a miss, but obviously the cheesecakes and the evening service is what it all seems to be about at Juniors.
I didnt enjoy the rotisserie chicken deal. The chicken looked nice but there was an overwhelming weird after taste from the chicken. The rice and peas did not taste fresh. This is a go to meal for me.It is usually ok but today everything about this meal was disgusting.Never again.
Classic, Original, New York Jewish Deli. Inventor &/or Famous for their New York Cheesecake, Pastrami Sandwiches, Breakfasts, Dinners, Matzoh Ball Soup and Combo Deli Sandwiches. And they should be, because it is that good! In Downtown Brooklyn only 4 stops from 42nd Street Times Square on the “Q” train.
Took my girlfriend here, her first time in NYC. I got her the strawberry cheesecake. she was skeptical of it being the worlds best since her father is a pastry chef and theyve traveled the world and tasted top notch desserts and pastries... but after a bite, she was floored by how perfect it was. she is planning on buying an entire cheesecake for fathers day!
I come here a couple of times a year to eat, and I always enjoy my visit. The atmosphere is friendly and alive. It’s quite a big restaurant, well known all over the world for their delicious cheese cakes and sweets, but the entrees are very tasteful also....nothing fancy, just good, delicious, home style dishes. The prices are fair. Junior’s delicious cheesecake should be on everybody’s “ restaurant bucket list” 😊
Huge portions here. The food was great, but a little pricey. The open faced roast beef was delicious and came with a huge amount of meat. I also received a selection of pickles before my meal. The Disco Fries were also great. Service was very quick and attentive. A great place to eat, especially if youre looking for something open late.
Great American diner! Recommend coming here for an authentic American experience. Theyre portions are HUGE - we made the mistake of ordering appetizers and then couldnt finish our main course. Its a cozy little homey place. Friendly staff. Real American food choices. A little pricey, but not too bad. Quality of the food was pretty okay, nothing fancy.
Customer service was bad. but the cheese cake was so good that i had no problem ignoring the rudeness from the workers. to get to that delight. i had the strawberry, and i had the brownie, and i had one other kind called red velete. eatting all that cheese cakes was like being in heaven. god must have had his hands the making of those cheese cake. so good......
The food and cheese cake is not what it used to be many years back.but service is always great.the red velvet cake is moist and delicious. The drinks are affordable prices and poured with plenty of alchool.the bartender tim is amazing he worked there for years and loves sharing his life time stories lol. The bar is ushally packed with the same regulars who are 40 years old and up.i did not mind because i love the vibe of the older people .
Youre better off ordering only cheese cake here. The service is not that great and the place is pretty dilapidated at this point.Theres food all over the floor and I wouldnt be surprised if there were vermin running all around the place.I ordered the steak burger and the first one came out well done, I had to send it back and it came back medium rare which is what I wanted but the meat steak was extremely bland. We also got this salmon appetizer which wasnt that great... I think it came from some kind of can.Again only come here for cheese cake.
The food was delicious! The service was awesome. Julia was probably the best server I have ever had. She was polite and on point to make sure my friend and I had what we needed and was content. The wait wasnt long or anything. I would definitely recommend and visit again.
Many moons ago my surprise sweet 16 birthday gathering was at Juniors and I have countless memories of that famous Strawberry cheese pie at Family gatherings. After years of missing our on this magical goodness I recently visited and indulged on a slice of Strawberry cheesepie and it tastes exactly the same. How sweet it is!
Growing up in Brooklyn and still enjoying Brooklyn and it’s landmarks; one known as Junior’s Restaurant it shocked me to see how their good sized burger has diminished tremendously and the platter is overflowing with French fries to mask the little burger. You’ve added a nicer bun but it’s smaller than Burger King’s!Junior’s Restaurant is a long time Brooklyn eatery and trying to fool customers with a small burger is shameful!Your pricing post-pandemic has gone up on everything including your cheesecakes which at times don’t fill out the plastic containers as in the past; again higher pricing and smaller portion!!Bring Back The Good Sized Burger as these née burger places are going out of business for charging $10-25 for a small burger!
You can not visit NY without stopping at Juniors in Brooklyn. The whole dining experience is reminiscent of the rich history of Brooklyn. Everything is you see and experience is special, transports me to an era long gone, yet it lives on in the way you are welcome, served and treated at Juniors. The staff is friendly and amazing, the food is delicious and the place is historically elegant. Regardless of what you eat, the cheesecake is the must have at Juniors and be ready to buy few cakes to go. We travel as far as five hours for the experience and joy of being part of this great place and highly recommend that you make juniors a priority for you on your next visit to NY (especially this one, which I consider the original)
My God in Heaven. I love me some Cheesecake, I dont eat it very often, but when I do I had to try this place. This place was featured on Food Network for its amazing and decadent cheesecake. And I have to say that I now understand why it was featured, the creaminess of this cheesecake and the flavors from the Red Velvet and the Double Chocolate was out of this world. Im sorry Cheesecake Factory but youre fired. Thanks allot to Juniors for the great hospitality and the most amazing cheesecake weve ever had.
Overall a fair experience. We got a chopped liver sandwich and a pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was very lean and a bit tough. The chopped liver was very good but brought to the table quite cold. We also had cole slaw that was fantastic. And of course we had the cheese cake...and it was perfect...cheese cake simply doesnt get any better.
I have been going to Juniors pretty much all my life and I must say they still have good food.. keep in mind because of Covid things are a little different. I was just happy to know they have inside dining. If u never been there u should go as soon as u can... I had thai ginger wings... my friend had fried calamari... DELICIOUS
This restaurant’s architecture is extensive. The bathroom is up stairs and the cheesecakes is delicious. Fortunately if you’re hungry they have hefty portions of food. They’re pancakes are fluffy and filling. If you’re ever hungry this is the place to go especially if you don’t mind spending money on your plate to be full. This is a family fun restaurant that has an extensive menu.
Great establishment that offers large portions of food at reasonable prices. They start off the meal with a good helping of cornbread, buns, pickles, pickled beets, and coleslaw. We had to share the ribs and fried chicken meal given the portion sIze, but the food was great. Make sure to have the cheesecake as well.
This early 20th century traditional Brooklyn diner,is still serving up those monstrously delicious sandwiches and desserts for an authentic New York experience. My tuna salad sandwich on challah was excellent and humongous. The service was great. A place I would highly recommend.
I visit everytime I come to the city, its one of the best places to eat. Huge fan of the chocolate egg creams. Come with an appetite the portions are pretty big, the prices might seem a little high at first but once you see your plate you understand why. The baked goods are great, theyre famous for their cheesecakes but honestly all the stuff is pretty good. The staff is super friendly and fast. Cant wait to go back again already! :)
The food here is excellent and has been for many years. However, with its growth and continually changing clientel, they have added grits to the menue. I thought this was great. Then I realized that what Juniors conciderded grits tasted like cream of wheat. Grits does not have milk in it. Luckally I like cream of wheat. So, my meal was great.Dint forget to try the Cheese Cake. Its the best.

2022-03-21My wife and I have been to Brooklyn 3 times in the last 3 months, and this place has been on out list. Finally got a chance to try it out, (unfortunately, alone! My wife had to tend to family issues) but the experience was still amazing! First, after I ordered my entree, the deluxe cheese burger with fries and rings, A combo of beets, dill pickles and a sweet relish/slaw, showed up out of nowhere. Then the expertly cooked well done burger , killed it, with its charred and tender yummy goodness. I did call the misses and let her know where I was, and of course she made sure I would bring home their signature and famous cheesecake🧀!!! Juniors is on my list from now on!! Great Job!

2022-03-16GREAT CHEESECAKE GREAT SERVICE. Came to get some cheesecake with my boyfriend and a few friends for my boyfriend’s birthday. When our server came I casually mentioned we were just here for dessert for his birthday. Not only was the cheesecake delicious, but they put a candle on his cheesecake and sang! So nice. They sang to another table celebrating a birthday later on as well. Nice people and great food!!!!

2022-03-15Had dinner here with a friend. This restaurant is a staple here in Brooklyn! Atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. the wait time for the food to hit the table was about 15 minutes. Our waiter was Camden. He was very friendly, polite and attentive. Our table booth was clean. Food was enjoyable. I would visit again.

2022-06-22Loved this restaurant and trying new things. The menu is so extensive its quite overwhelming but I cant see how you could wrong with anything here. I had to save space in my stomach for the ultimate dessert! It looked so amazing I just had to try it. Of course neither of us finished it

2022-03-23Ordered a Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake from Juniors and had it shipped to my home in Utah. It was very well packaged, shrink wrapped and frozen for shipping, with an ice pack to keep it cold during its trek west. Upon arriving at my home and opening it, it tasted fresh and delicious, as if we were sitting and eating in their restaurant in Brooklyn. It was some of the tastiest cheesecake Ive ever eaten. I will definitely visit the restaurant next time Im in NY!

2022-03-06Went Sunday around 9 am. Place only had a few tables filled. Quaint 1970’s paneled charm. Place was clean and we were greeted & sat immediately.I ordered the classic eggs Benedict; poached medium. First order of food came out luke-warm with eggs poached with no cooking of the yolk. My guys were halfway through their breakfast before waitress came & checked on us. Sent my food back. Second order had hot home fries but again, eggs yolks weren’t cooked at all. I didn’t eat it. Waitress returned and said she’d take it off the bill..so I didn’t get to eat. Hollandaise flavor, color, and texture were all off.My French 75 drink was good.

2022-01-09I went here for my birthday a couple of weeks ago because Im not familiar with the Brooklyn area and this resturant was within proximity. I arrived at 10:15pm, they closed at 11pm so that was plenty of time to dine. The seating area was rather empty, which was a plus for those concerned about dining during covid. The decorum lacks appeal, definitely needs some updating. I informed the waitress it was my birthday and requested a cute tasty drink that was also Instagram worthy. She came back with a regular fountain drink cup with a lemon stating they didnt anything like that which was disappointing because we all know that birthday drink is everything! I ordered the ginger Thai wings as an appetizer and the Fried chicken dinner. No complaints there the food was really good. I also ordered a slice of carrot cake cheesecake which was also good. But geez couldnt I have gotten it for free or a Happy Birthday song?!?! Maybe they dont do that here but that was very disappointing as well. I should have stuck with my first mind and headed to Sugar Factory, they celebrate you! Nonetheless I would return but definitely not for a special occasion it was a waste of time and money.

2022-06-29Cheesecake. That may be all the review some need. Get some cheesecake. BUT try the other food too. We had a great experience with the whole family at Juniors. The sandwiches were delicious. The service was great. And the cheesecake… well the cheesecake was icing on the cake.
