Karenderya is a Filipino resto featuring home-cooking like it was made by your Lola. The pork adobo bowl has a rich and flavorful sauce that brings the garlic fried rice to another level. The fried chicken was among the crispiest I have had in Westchester. The staff are kind and friendly even in the face of the current health crisis. They sanitize the tables and chairs in between patrons to ensure cleanliness.I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will be coming back for more!
We ordered tonight from this restaurant. Just felt like eating Filipino food and found this one! Everything we ordered our family devoured. Called in for the order and told her I don’t know what to order. Lady was so nice and helped me order. Delicious flavors!!! Amazing food!! Will definitely be back!
Sorry I usually like leaving 5 stars but cant in this instance. The pork belly sandwich was on bread that didnt seem like ciabatta but rather a slider bun and covered with mayo. The boiled egg was just a slice or two, not a whole. The rib main dish had 3mm of oil at the top. Rather disappointed, sorry.
Love the food. I tried the pork belly with rice, nice flavors and well seasoned. I also tried the spicy coconut pork stew with garlic rice. It was delicious and yes very spicy. Try the cassava cake with the Jack fruit. I was surprised that it did not have a heavy consistency. Great atmospherex very casual and cozy. Staff and service are great. I will definitely be back.
The food was reallllly good until I found a LONG, THICK BLACK HAIR in my food. I just about barfed my insides out. Karenderya, you REALLLLLY need to be careful! Wear hair nets and make sure people are clean before cooking please!! Its a real shame that this happened to me. Its really hard to forget something like this, -sigh-
I have been to this place. I am in love with the food. Their best dish is the tapa/beef with garlic rice. It never disappoints. I wish they open earlier though in some days. Their garlic rice is to die for. Ive been to Filipino NYC restaurants and some of them dont have great garlic rice, but in Nyack, they do!!! The service needs a tiny bit of improvement, but the staff & owner are nice. I like this place and I will come back because I like how the chef prepares the food & its delicious. Thanks.
This is probably among the top 5 Philippine food destinations here in the USA. Pandemic and all, their food is awesome. I loved the pork belly adobo, the fried chicken, the garlic rice. Plus the red horse beer. Unpretentious meal experience. They know they cook things better. Karenderya-fare but theyre attentive to how they are doing things. (Karenderya is typically a non descript food place in the Philippines). I am sure I will be around again.
The food is excellent - it has flavor without salt, butter or unneccessary spices. Very good. The seating is limited and its not the most comfortable place, but the fair prices and tasty food prevent me from giving Karenderya anything less than a perfect grade. Recommended!
This is a cozy little family friendly Filipino restaurant. The food is excellent. The menu is meat heavy and they only have one or two vegetarian dishes. The pork belly adobo is totally the thing to get if you are unfamiliar with this type of cuisine. Go ahead and splurge a little extra for the garlic fried rice.
Stop by here after a long drive back from a trip. Food was very well made. There was a sudden influx of customers. The food took a while to come out, but the hostess offered us complimentary drinks. We didnt take it. When the food came out, we devoured it. Good prices, serving size was big and the hostess was very hospitable.
Spectacular food where you feel like familyI LOVE Karenderya and go out of my way to get there whenever Im in Rockland County. The Beef tapa is so good, the pork adobo, too, and the garlic fried rice haunts my dreams.More than just excellent food though, the staff and the proprietors are so welcoming, I feel like Ive been invited to the kindest, hippest Filipino home for amazing food.
Absolutely amazing food and a very different experience which is exactly what I was looking for. An absolute gem and I will definitely come back of ever in the area again. Delicious food and friendly staff. If first time just keep an eye out for the directions on the wall when you walk in.
Authentic Filipino food in a casual yet classy atmosphere make Karenderya a regular go to for a family meal out. Try the Bangus rice bowl for a some tasty fish topped off with a fried egg. Dont miss the Adobo ribs which are incredibly tender and delicious. Wrap it all up with some Halo Halo for the perfect end to a wonderful dinner.
Came here for the first time today and the folks helping us could not be nicer ! The food here is delish and homey and carefully prepared. If you havent had filipino food before there is no better place to try! Everything we had was good --- Pork Belly + Garlic Rice + Calamansi (lime) juice = my perfect meal. Next time Ill add a fry egg on top
Was craving for sinigang and found this place on google, they have great reviews so I decided to try them. Got the shrimp pancit and sinigang ribs. The pansit taste a little burnt and the sinigang does not taste or look like sinigang. Yes its sour the way it should be but it taste like they cooked the meat with a different sauce and added some sinigang soup. If you are looking for filipino food, this is not it. So disappointed.
ANNOYING SERVICEFirst of all the customer service provided is excellent- that is sarcastically speaking! The girl who picks up the phone to take order is annoyingly rude. Giving 1 star is very generous on my part just because the food is good- salty but good. Train your staff. Do not act or sound like you are giving your customer a favor, It is us the customer is your bread and butter. Tone it down and pretend that you are happy doing your job.
Poor customer service. My first time there. No greeting. I went to her and said hello and waited to be seated. She said nothing. Now im staring.... Then she says first time here? & i say yes. She gives me a menu & tells me to choose and come back up to the counter to order. I did just that...then someone else came in while i was attempting to place my order. She excused herself and started to take the new order right in front of me and then to top it off went to the back to talk to the cook about order details for the person that came in after me. No thanks. Ill pass.
First time at this restaurant. Need to read the chalkboard. Grab a menu, seat yourself, go to the counter, order, pay, grab your utensils, drinking glass, and wait for the food to be served. You then have to bring the dinnerware back to the counter. Its totally opposite than what we are used it where there are servers doing everything. Some of the food ran out, so we had to order something else, but it was tasty, especially the turon and beef tapa sandwich. Need more food options though.
Beyond Rude! I am a die hard foodie who eats in Nyack quite a bit but I will never eat here again, their service and the way they treat people is disgusting. I called 5 times and no one would pick up the phone , on the 6th try I placed an order with a very rude person who carried on as if he was doing me a favor and was bothered to take my order.. 35 minutes later I walk in and it takes the SAme person who answered the phone over 10 minutes to get to me. BeCause every time he took an order he asked the next customer to wait, as he stepped away and ate his food. He came back chewing with a greasy mouth to help the next person. 45 minutes after placing my order, it’s my turn and I tell him I’m picking up. After much discussion between himself and the kitchen he says my order was never placed , and I asks if I will be placing an order, I said are you kidding me right now ? The kitchen help comes out and says no one placed your order IM Sorry so what do you want to order ? I told him never mind your establishment has no idea how to treat customers and I left. BTW the couple that was next was wondering why no one picks up the phone while they are open. I called the owner after I left to complain and he became defensive because I asked for the name of the person I was speaking to, he calmed down after I told him how I was treated and his front desk person is rude and he said all he can say is sorry , I told him it’s ok you will never get me to eat there again and your idea of serving customers is quite disgusting !
A fun casual vibe at this eat-in self-serve spot! We ordered one (or more) of everything for our group of eight. We loved every single bite - insanely good!!! Our favorites include Adobo Pork Belly, Cassava Cake, Ginataang Vegetables, and of course Lumpiang (we ate six orders). And the Crispy Tofu with Peanut Sauce and the Turon. Every bite is amazing!!!!!!! We cannot wait to come back. Yum!
Homemade and casual with wine options. We had my moms 90th birthday party and our 25th anniversary there. Both times it felt like a big get together at our home, except I didnt have to do the cooking. The Kare Kare (braised ox tail in peanut sauce), is the best! But try the other favorites, Daing Bangus (fried marinated milkfish), and Adobo.

2019-05-19We had an excellent experience at Karenderya! The food was very good, no bad dishes. Our favorite was the shrimp adobo - very tasty and flavorful. We ordered a few dishes: the PEI mussels and steamed whole branzino which were both specials of the day, shrimp adobo, pansit bihon with chicken, and pork rib sinigang. We also had the red horse beer and a kalamansi drink with basil seeds - both nice drinks. I really liked the beer, it was very smooth and went down easy. Friendly service and chill vibe. Reasonable prices. Overall, a pleasant and very satisfying meal! Clean, pronounced flavors. The shrimp adobo is a must order! Wish I lived in the area so I could frequent this place!Bonus, they have gender neutral bathrooms.

2021-01-31I want to preface this review by saying pork sinigang is one of my absolute favorite dishes from any genre of cuisine. I’ve eaten it up and down the East coast at restaurants, canteens, and aunties’ houses. In the Philippines nearly every place I went I got a bowl of sinigang na baboy. I make it at home myself on the regular. Not once have I ever seen a sinigang broth this dark before. After I got over my initial moment of shock I was excited to be trying something new. It looked like I could be in for the most insane sour unami bomb broth ever. After my first spoonful... confusion. It didn’t taste like much of anything. It wasn’t even remotely sour. But strangest of all was that the most dominant flavor I could taste was adobo. Was the darkness of the broth just from soy sauce? The meat was delicious, fatty and soft, and I really appreciated the long beans as nearly every restaurant I’ve been to in the US uses regular green beans instead.I could see myself maybe enjoying eating this dish if I had ordered an adobo-ish braised pork stew but just not as the sinigang I was expecting.I’m giving 4 stars because I love supporting small businesses and I want to extend my benefit of the doubt - this was my first visit and maybe this was simply a one off sinigang snafu. The pork empanadas were absolutely scrumptious. I would tentatively come back and try other dishes on the menu. There’s also no dine in service available at the moment despite what Google says.

2019-02-12Came here after reading it was named one of the best new restaurants in America which is a pretty big title to live up to and I was not disappointed! Each dish was well seasoned and the rice was perfect which shows they pay attention to details which makes all the difference. I’m new to Philipino food and ejoyed every dish. Super casual dining too which can be refreshing when you want a more low key experience. Definitely a cool place to try out.

2019-02-10The food took a bit to come out but it was totally worth the wait. The adobo pork belly was excellent and the garlic fried rice was great. Chicken tocino was a great flavor and tasted great with the right rice.Milk fish (not shown) was amazing with a hint of like flavor. The pork in the coconut broth taste (not shown) was a great mixed of spicy and savory. The restaurant staff is attentive but it is self service so seating is up for grabs. Good place to enjoy traditional Philippino food

2019-07-30A Filipino experience that everyone can enjoy. Beautiful decor, outstanding service by delightful Simone, excellent menu with clear explanations, and bright and spacious seating. Street parking is close by but can be a challenge. Whats nice is that it is just a few minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge and no more that 3 minutes from the highway. This is a great stop for travelers through the area
