I love Karens and I go here most frequently. Their breakfast is great, the belly buster sandwich is a family favourite, and their lunch menu is good too. The staff is always friendly and attentive. My 2 small kids love here as well.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. After living in the area for a few years, my boyfriend and I decided to give Karen’s diner a try after hearing about how great it was. So here are my impressions on this little place. First off, when you walk in, it is IMPECCABLY clean. It was refreshing to see every single space completely spotless. It really lets you focus on the charm of the restaurant. We sat down and a gentleman named George promptly came over to us in between taking other orders and helping on the register, his service alone would have given this place 5 stars. He was wonderful. We even met Karen herself who was working in the kitchen, checking on customers and doing the register. It was great to watch an owner of a business be so hands on. The food got to us fast and was DELICIOUS. I haven’t a single complaint. Karen’s diner is wonderful. Thank you for the great food and hospitality from everyone. We can’t wait to come back!
Im from out of town, and needed a quick lunch. I ordered and it was super quick. They do Delivery and Pickup. Pickup was so easy and simple. The service was great and the ladies were very nice.Karens also does eating indoors and out as their outdoor location is right in front of where you park and is shaded by trees.It doesnt end there, the food was fantastic and filling and it didnt cost me a fortune. 10/10 would visit again.
Greasy spoon kind of place. But, the food was cooked (albeit greasy) and the setting very nice. Beautiful views from the outdoor seating area. Service was good.
Stopped for breakfast and found Karens to be good! A little short handed at first but the staff was friendly and knew the menu well. Outside seating available with plenty of room for all. My group had a little of everything from Steak and eggs to pancakes and it was all great. Food came out hot and quick.

Food wasn’t too bad for a small place. Definitely had better. During these times with Covid EVERYONE should be wearing masks. I went to pick up a takeout order and of all people the cook was not wearing a mask. I actually had to wait like 5 minutes for my order and during the whole time she never put her mask on while she was cooking the food. I definitely will not be going back!!

Extremely busy yet extraordinarily clean. Great food and fantastic service. Was not prepared for such delicious kielbasa. Coffee kept fresh, good served piping hot. Will definitely be back.
Karens is a nice little breakfast and lunch place in a town that doesnt have much of a selection in this area. There always seems to be a nice, clean table available and the service is top notch and menu is varied. My only complaint (over several breakfast experiences) is that the cook over cooks the home fries and the corned beef hash rendering half the meal inedible. Ive had the sandwiches and other offerings and they have been tasty.
Cozy and friendly place. Yummy food. I had the Texan sandwich and a Belgian waffle. So stuffed. The food is so good and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. I would definitely stop by again if Im in town.Service was alert and friendly. Not a very long wait for food. Felt relax to just eat with friends.
My family stops here for breakfast whenever we are making the trip from home back to my college. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are friendly. I never found their breakfast extraordinary, but they are in a convenient location and provide fast service that fits perfectly into our itinerary.
Great breakfast place. I just moved to Pawling and have been searching out permanent locations to eat out. I am creature of habit and once I like something I go there for years. This is definitely a place that I’ll be utilizing for years to come. Very friendly staff, delicious food and the lady that takes the phone orders is the nicest lady to speak to.
Cozy, homey, solid comfort diner food. GREAT coffee. Friendly service. Convenient location. Regular menu and daily specials. There are several reasons Karens has been there for 28 years. If youre driving by and youre hungry, do stop in for a bite. Ample parking, too.
When you have waffle cravings and everyone else in Pawling is closed you can always count on Karen’s. They’ve stayed open during covid and have been great for takeout.I can only vouch for takeout service and the Belgian waffles. Sooo yummy! Reasonable price and they make them JUST right.Thanks for staying open and satisfying my waffle tooth!

This very unassuming place has the BEST food. Karen is an awesome chef. Highly recommend. I live in NYC but will make it my point to continue go up there just to enjoy her food

Havent been here in a while and I feel guilty. Ordered the chili omelet special with guacamole and it was delicious. Busy as always a good service. It was great seeing Karen and the staff. Well worth the stop if youre in the area.
Good breakfast place. Took them a while to take our order or even bring us our coffee. But the food didn’t disappoint. Get yourself a waffle or one of their omelets (the one with pastrami is great).
Wow! What an amazing experience of flavor! The grilled cheese with tomato is delicious, and my boyfriend said the bacon was the best he’s ever had. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Our waitress was Candy and she was so kind and helpful! Even though we’re from out of town, they made us feel like regulars! Everyone at Karen’s promotes an atmosphere of kindness and comfort. Can’t wait to come back someday :)
A true local diner with friendly service and excellent food. Unfortunately, the kitchen was very slow, even while there were few people in the place which kind of tainted an otherwise great experience. Good coffee and bacon. The hash browns were boring but not bad. Lots of locals here - especially the single old guys chatting it up at the counter talking about tractors and what not. Interesting breakfast spacials. Casual, country atmosohere.
This diner is one of our favorites. The food is not always good - ITS ALWAYS GREAT! Good food, hot food, friendly atmosphere, attentive servers and now accepting credit cards. For breakfasts or lunches; Karens Diner - in Pawling, NY - is the place to eat and enjoy.

Awaiting one of the best grilled Swiss cheese sandwiches extant. This restaurant takes the pulse of this town, and serves comfort food. Its as simple and as good as that. Either bring cash, or be subjected to the mercies of their ATM. Enjoy!Update: Karens now accepts credit cards!
Pretty disappointing. Food was ok, not good. Fries were cold when plates arrived. Waitress wasn’t busy, but wasn’t attentive at all. Never even popped by after dropping the food to ask if everything was ok. Such a shame.
My boyfriend and I and his daughter went for lunch there, waited 10 minutes for a table. When I ordered food I got complaints that I wanted a small Greek salad and they don’t do it. The waitress were very nasty and when I ordered food to go they gave me a nasty look. The food wasn’t all that good for the large price that I paid for it. They don’t take any criedt cards which is crazy now a days. I won’t ever come back again. I didn’t even tip the waitress.

Small and cozy. A good selection of homemade foods and desserts at very reasonable prices. Warm weather outdoor seating, but keep in mind, you are on Rte.22, so can be noisy. They do not accept credit cards. .. the on site ATM charges $4.00 per transaction. Karens is only open until 3 pm. A good choice for an inexpensive breakfast or lunch. Very welcoming staff

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Karens Diner has started having outdoor bbq dinners on Thursdays from 5-8. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone and the corn fritters were light, crispy and delish. This is usually a breakfast/lunch only diner. But Im lovin this new outdoor bbq dinner thing. 7 family members ate with me and all loved everything.
What happened ?? Did they change ownership ? Waited 45 min for a sandwich . Asked for sugar never got it . No napkins no silverware . Not once did waiter ask if we needed anything . Ugh used to love this place
Awful. People were nice enough, but only 3 tables and eggs and bacon took over 30 minutes to be served. Then, one of us ( table.of 3), had to wait another 5 minutes, to be served, once the other 2 of us finally got our food. Also, the urinal.in the co ed bathroom is on the floor, with a 1 inch lip, and there is pee all over the floor. Bathroom is only 3 feet wide, if that, so you are forced to step all in it. Made me lose my appetite completely. Also, there is an atm, but they only take cash, and dont bother to mention it until you are ready to pay Just an awful experience. We will not be back
Always busy when we’ve visited, but always get a table. Food was tasty and they offer gluten free bread items. Go once a year to eat here (over an hour drive) and always worth the wait!

A small, quaint diner serving excellent breakfast and lunch items. The service is quick and friendly. The owner, Karen, is always around making sure everything is to your liking. I will deffinately be coming back again soon.
Cozy, nothing fancy, but its very goodcomfort food at a moderate price. They only serve food for breakfast and lunch though but its worth the stop if youre on Route 22 in Pawling NY. The only drawback is that they only take cash, no credits cards but they do have an ATM on the premises.
Today was my 1st time at Karens Diner, and the the food is great, and the place is immaculate, and comfortable to linger in as you eat....
This remains a great place to eat for breakfast or lunch. The food is hot and yummy for your tummy. No matter what you order it is top quality.The only issue i have is they dont take credit cards, sadly.

2022-01-13I come to Karens a lot. Almost once a week with the wife. Sometimes 2 times a week. Food always taste fresh and i always get the meatloaf and eggs (meatloaf is amazing). Pancakes are cooked well and fluffy and eggs are soft and delicious. Place is usually packed on the weekend so i tend to go on a weekday where it is less busy. If you never been i recommend giving their food a try. My wife got the chicken cutlet sandwich to go. Gotta try their lunch food like burgers as i only had their breakfast food, but i hear burgers are good as well.

2022-07-03Though I have only been there a few times for breakfast, the food is amazingly good. Loved being able to sit outside with my nephew who was on leave from the military. He was very impressed and loved his meal. I highly recommend Karens. The staff is so friendly and stopped periodically to make sure we were set. I really love this place. Very well worth it !

2021-04-04Excellent. Had blueberry pancakes with ham, wife had banana pancakes with bacon. A farout Easter/ Happy Birthday breakfast. Service, parking, seating, all around atmosphere was groovy like the tasty food. Pretty waitresses too, although my sweetheart is the best.

2021-08-19Found this awesome little spot just over the Duchess County line going north on 22. Stopped for lunch; had the daily soup, which was mushroom barley. Delicious. Then two sandwiches, which came out fresh, tasty and hot. Got tator tots, which were crispy without being oily at all Service was attentive, caring and obliging, and atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Recommend highly if youre in the area.
