After a few years of talking about solar with my husband, but not researching too far in, I decided to get quotes through Energy Sage. Kasselman Solar was on par with most of the 5 quotes (3 of 5 were all within $2K of each other), but they were the company that didnt push to set up a call right away. From the start, Adam Jordan was thorough with his explanation of the system, rebate/savings incentives, and discussion of the whole process from chatting about what it took to Allison coming out and plugging in the final component. Cost was the big concern and in the long run, I will pay about half of the quoted system after rebates and tax returns. I really wanted the array on our barn so it was less visible. The metal roof was no concern. Kasselman frequently works with people across NY so my home (southeast of Syracuse) wasnt out of their customer radius at all. I am so happy we installed solar and even with this rainy spring are producing well above our monthly draw which will be a nice bank for the shorter, cloudier winter months. The team at Kasselman was very accommodating in my request to talk over email (vs phone) so I had an exact record of what was said to discuss with my husband, to work with my work schedule (and not needing me at the house during the whole install), and in following up with any concerns or questions after the system had been running.
Made a hasty decision to go solar in mid-October, hoping to get things in before end-of-year. I compared quotes from multiple providers and spoke with them all. Kasselman was very upfront with timing, what they would try but not promise, and what was in their control and not. They answered all questions that I had about different configurations, types of equipment and manufacturers, and forecasting future needs (EV purchase). They were consistently responsive and considerate of what I was looking to accomplish - no hard sale and very consultative. A bonus that it is a local company with solid history and roots in the area. Job was done and done well in the last week of December, and we are very happy. Thanks to Kasselman and the PM on our job Alex Martin for working hard for us.
I would highly recommend Kasselman for your solar needs... After much research I was very glad I used them! From the product to the price and professionalism they excelled. They do all the work from designs to rebates and financing so it was effortless on my part. My panels were installed in 2 days (36) and had no electric bill until January. Hopefully I make enough energy this year to get through next heating season (electric heat). Kudos Kasselman!
Kasselman Solar just finished up our solar project and they were amazing to deal with! We contacted 3 other companies before choosing them.Those other companies should take lessons from Kasselman on how to treat customers. They are not pushy and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable in our decision to go solar. The panels they offer have one of the best warranties out there. Dont hesitate to choose Kasselman for your solar project. You will see from your first phone call to them that they are a great company. From start to finish we had a great experience with Kasselman Solar. Our salesman, Dave, explained all the local, state, and federal incentives—not to mention how 2019 is the last year for “NET Metering” which is big reason why this is a great year to buy solar. As soon as we decided to go ahead, the Kasselman crew kicked into gear by developing our engineering design, obtaining the Town approval, and coordinating with National Grid. The entire process from our initial phone call to commissioning our system took less than two months. All the relevant documents and signatures were handled electronically which made the process totally painless. Our project manager, Allison, has great communication skills and kept us informed every step of the way. Finally, our installers (Cody, Josh, Jason, Ian, Derek, Tim, and others) took great pride in their work and gave us a very CLEAN installation.... Looks great and works perfectly. Highly recommended.
Kasselman Solar did great with our install they completed last week. Our roof wasnt standard and they were able to figure it out and make it work great. The install is super nice and neat all in a perfect rectangle on the roof. We have the solar monitoring app and website account as well. You can see individual panel performance and theres many other ways to look at the data. Their master electrician even helped get our Sense electrical monitoring unit setup too. Everyone was super friendly, there was an on-site project manager and also a back office project manager (Nick) who coordinated everything and kept us in the loop of which days they were coming in between the really big rain storms we were having.The amount of rain was a buster but we all pulled through and now we have solar! I had to remove and install my solar panels when I changed the roof of my house. Kasselman Solar provided this service. They did everything in a very timely fashion and did the job right. Dave and Alison were directly involved in the project. They both provided the best service. I could not have asked for more. Thank You Kasselman for a job well done !
In November of 2014 we had our solar panels installed by Kasselman Solar. The process was seamless. The installers and electricians were 100% professional and the job was completed in no time. During the past year we had a couple of issues with the microinverters, which were under warranty, and they were replaced quickly and without cost. Kasselman continued to monitor our system, and notified us when they noticed that there was another microinverter on the fritz. Couldnt ask for better customer support. Kasselman continues to provide us great service after 5 years.
Kasselman was not only at our house once for solar installation, they were here twice. Last year we started the solar adventure and after looking into several other solar installers we chose Kasselman because they were local and have been in business in the electrical field for many years. Adam came to the house to talk with us about what would be done and then came back a second time when we had questions about things we did not fully understand. The process was smooth in getting the panels on the roof and when it started working we were amazed at how much, even for the winter months, was being produced. The original installation was a 50% system as we were not sure what it was we were expecting. When our electrical bills dropped to 30 - 40% of what they used to be we knew we wanted to add a second set of panels to complete our system, now at 75% of the original design for our house. Kasselman jumped at the opportunity to come back for a repeat customer. Upon going to their offices, Steve offered a tour of their warehouse. My grandson loved looking at and playing with several of the gadgets they had there.The final installation has been completed; less than a day on the roof, and when the final inspection is complete and the system in full operation we will be at the point where we want to be. Kasselman is THE solar company to use for quality in materials and craftsmanship. They are attuned to what you want and will work with you to accomplish the end results. Outstanding A-Z solar installation by KasselmanI recently purchased a rooftop solar installation from Kasselman Solar. They did everything right: every step of the way they made sure they asked for and understood my needs and preferences, they made sure they provided me with all information I needed (e.g., how federal and state tax credits work), and they did everything on time, within budget, and in the manner they said they would. I often work in my home office, and they were very careful about making sure that they did not disturb my work when I needed to be on the phone. I could not recommend them more highly.
From start to finish the staff at Kasselman Solar was excellent. Stephen C., our salesperson was informative, personable and answered all of our questions. We choose Kassleman Solar for our installation due to such positive reviews and it turned out they were the best option from start to finish. The installation was quick, the process was simple and the overall aesthetics of the panels on our house look amazing!! The pricing compared to others came in lower than other places we met with which was a huge benefit as well. We met with Adam and he gave us a perfect detailed overview of what our system would look like and the benefits we would reap from the installation. Our energy bill after just a few weeks once the system was turned on dropped significantly. I met with 5 different solar companies and decided that Kasselman best fit my needs. The system was installed in one day by Kasselman Solar. Their products are all USAmade and are top of the line. Just had 31 panels installed By Kasselman Solar. The solar installers were professional and the electricians were concerned about hiding their wiring. Workers kept their work area clean and did not disrupt the pumpkin garden during their install. Back office personnel explained the loans and the contract. Our salesperson, Adam was professional and answered all of our questions. Brandon set up our Envoy solar monitoring module and explained everything else, including next steps with financing and our loan, and whom would contact us for that. I am proud to post the Kasselman Solar sign on my property to let others know about their great work.
We are thrilled with Kasselman Solar! They recently designed a system for us for an 1850s house that we took apart and reconstructed in a new location, complete with solar and geothermal. Kasselmans design, installation and project management services are second to none. We will be using them for many projects to come as we are building a development of saved historic homes. Geothermalpowered by solar resulted in a total utility bill of under $150 with NO insulation installed yet, running tools, lights and heating system.
They installed a ten thousand dollar brick they called a battery and refused to refund the money for seven months, either waiting for my housemate to die or the warranty to expire before they had to make good, seven months of lies and excuses... AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Kasselman Solar was the first solar sales and installation contractor we spoke to who provided one stop shopping from panel selection to financing to installation. The first three contractors we spoke to either provided only power purchase systems or we had to apply for financing from multiple lenders and pay top dollar for our panels. Kasselman Solar made it easy and we were up and running producing power within 2 months of signing the contract. Kasselmans market power got us top end panels for half the cost of the nearest competitor for the same model and they look good!! No silver lines on black panels looking like a checker board. Sleek, black on black panels and the wiring to the breaker box hidden under the roof with no ugly silver wire enclosures running down the side of your house like the power purchase guys.I highly recommend Kasselman Solar. You will not be disappointed.
Its pretty incredible to actually find a company you enjoy contacting and dealing with on a regular basis. I contacted Kasselman Solar because of all of their positive reviews. I had researched other companies and found that those companies were littered with negative reviews, but I couldnt find one bad thing said about Kasselman. It was actually odd and almost made me skeptical about contacting them, but I am sure happy I did! Once I requested a consultation, they were always quick to respond to any of my inquiries, from the initial consultation, to post solar installation questions, and of course everything in between as well.My consultant, Stephen, answered all of our questions at the consultation. He was very knowledgeable, and anything I threw at him, he had an answer for. Even any questions after the initial consultation he was quick to respond to and answer. After signing the contract, Kasselman got the ball rolling on everything right away, from the building permit, to the NYSERDA loan, and to the interest free bridge loan. The only delay was due to slow local government approving the building permit, but once the town approved the permit, it was a matter of a week before my system was installed and turned on.The crew that installed the system was incredibly friendly, clean, efficient and most definitely courteous (I had a sitter watching 3 kids at the house) of the guests in my home. They installed the racking system, 24 panels, and wired them into my electrical box all in a single day, and after they cleaned up, it was like they werent even there.The following week a very friendly 3rd party inspector came to inspect the electrical, gave it the thumbs up, and I flipped the switch and turned them on. Seeing the meter spin backwards that morning was awesome and literally made me say to myself, wow it really works! The following day, Michael came out to setup the Envoy system which reads the stats and production of the panels right through the electrical lines. He answered more of my questions and again was very courteous of the guests in my house.To sum it up, Kasselman Solars commitment to making their customers happy is quite an incredible complement to the state of the art solar systems which they install. If I owned another house in the area, I would reach out to this company in a heartbeat, and I recommend to anyone reading this review and interested in learning more about solar panels, to take that step and see what its about, they will not let you down.

We have had an incredibly professional, timely, and pleasant experience with Kasselman Solar. Everyone we worked with were knowledgeable, helpful, and on point. We are now meeting all of our electric needs with our solar panel system and after six months have had no second thoughts (other than why didnt we do this sooner).
At the end of 2016 we had a 6 kw solar array installed at our new house in Rotterdam, NY. Every person on their team was professional, reliable and knowledgeable - and their product lives up to all our expectations. I cant say enough good things about the service and support we got along the way. Were all hooked up and producing power now - and very pleased with everything. I would highly recommend Kasselman to anyone in the market for a solar installation. .

We recently had Kasselman Solar install a 27 panel solar array a few months ago on our home in Beacon, NY. We highly reccomend them as they have an outstanding team of hard-working and honest people, were more than helpful in addressing our questions and concerns, and came in more affordable than other options we looked at (and we did a ton of research.) We were also relieved to know that they have an electric company as well as solar, which gave us peace of mind knowing they are diversified in industries and should be around for a long time. Based on customer reviews I had high expectations when I chose Kasselman Solar to install my solar system in late 2015, and those expectations have been exceeded in every way - from planning a system that best met my needs, through a top quality installation, to providing exceptional service any time I had a question about operation of the system. It’s a pleasure to do business with the outstanding team of solar system professionals lead by Steve Kasselman.
I researched solar installers for years before installing. This was because I had to wait to replace my roof before installing solar. Kasselman was my choice before I was ready, and afterwards, I know I was right to choose them. They took care of EVERYTHING! All I had to do was arrange financing, and they sent the links for that. I filled it out, emailed it out. They did everything else. Adam (sales) was the best salesman Ive ever dealt with. He was there for the ENTIRE process, even 6 months later to mail me a referral check, after one of my friends installed with Kasselman. Jillian was also wonderful, also there through the whole process. The installers were very professional and nice. The inspector commented that Kasselmans work is very good, and he never has any problems with them. The guys who installed my gutters remarked at how well the construction was of the solar panel rails. Absolutely no problems/complaints. These guys really are the best. Research before you install, then call Adam, and youll see that Im right. And just a disclaimer here: I dont work for Kasselman, nor does anybody that I know. This is an HONEST review/assessment of Kasselman Solar.
Adam was our consultant and we can honestly say we have never met a nicer guy. He easily answered every question we asked with no pressure to buy. We had had a poor experience with another company before we met him. Kasselman, tells no lies! Gino, Mike and the whole crew were great. Cant remember all their names. Jillian came out at the end to set up our monitoring system-what a great girl. The whole experience was great from beginning to end. We were up and running faster than we expected. We just smile everyday when we see the sun come up. Steve Kasselman we give you 5 stars and 5 stars to your whole crew. What a great company to deal with. We would recommend it to anyone.
It took my husband and I a few years to finally make the commitment to go solar and we are HAPPY we did in October 2014. We looked at leasing solar panels but decided it was in our best interest to own our solar panels and went with Kasselman Solar to have them installed. Kasselman Solar is great to work with...they are professional, knowledgeable and dependable. If your interested in going Solar, I recommend you give Kasselman Solar a call, you wont be disappointed.
Overall the entire process from start to finish was fantastic.We found everyone we came in contact with, either by email or in person, to be very friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely doing their best to make this process a good experience.I thought it was great that the install crew came out prior to the install to verify the fitment and see any obstacles they would be facing.The entire install crew and the electricians were great. In all my years of owning this house I have only had two contracting crews that I thought deserved praise for a job well done and Kasselmans team is one of them. They kept me informed, did their best to make the install as seamless as possible, answered my questions, and there was only some aluminum chips left from when they cut the mounting rails to length. Other than that, every ounce of debris and garbage was picked up.The emails from their office staff were great too. I was kept informed of where we stood in the process at all times. Getting names and numbers for the lead installer and lead electrician was something I didnt expect but truly appreciated.As a details geek, I am overloading on the info I can get about the panels from the Enphase Monitoring Tool. Maybe it will lose its allure in the future but I doubt it. :)I highly recommend Kasselman and kudos to everyone who worked with us during this process. Excellent job!
Started having problems with 2 panels july 6th. Used the app to send a service request. Have sent many emails since, as of today Sept 22nd problem has not been fixed and their lack of communication is disturbing not to mention the loss of electricity from the 2 faulty panels. Im done with them. Will be contacting BBB and a lawyer. Update, its October 22 and still not fixed, and now a panel not working at all.
It’s unfortunate that I’am not able to utilize their services at this time. I do have a huge tree that blocks direct sunlight to our house which basically makes our home not viable for solar energy. I talked to Mr. James Stewart one of their lead PV Engineer, who gave me a ton of info. He did not push me into getting the sales like some other solar companies I have talked to. That’s why I’m writing this review for all of you out there who is looking for a solar company to hire. Please give this Company a call and you won’t regret it. I was so impressed with their honesty and integrity. If only they had a tree service with them. I would sign in a heartbeat. Again thank you Mr. James Stewart, sir you’re an asset of Kasselman Solar company.
I had been interested in converting to solar for a few years, did my research and decided I was interested in doing business with Kasselman. We found David T. at the Home Expo in February. We were immediately impressed by his knowledge, his charisma for the industry and willingness to answer even the silliest of questions in order to help educate us on the process. We had spoken to some other companies about solar in the last few years, but Davids approach was exactly what was needed. Educated, but not pushy. He was relatable and a great first impression for the company.We signed a contract a week later at the end of February and began working with Allison P. on the project. What a great service the team provides: contact information for financing options, handling all paperwork for local permits, Federal and State credit and a liaison with National Grid. I appreciated all of the little things Allison did to keep us informed. She has great energy, very informative and was an absolute pleasure to work with.Everyone was so professional. Our whole project was completed in less than 8 weeks, which was a shock for us! Given the time of year and then the late snowstorm, we are so excited to be generating energy before summer begins! We couldnt be happier with the experience, and have already referred family and friends.
Had many issues with the heat pumps. Starting with poor install. One dumped water all over my bedroom. They came out to fix it a couple of days later, but it still was dumping water. They eventually sent out another company to service it. That company got it working but had to take the drains out of the conduit because the conduit was installed improperly, so they would not drain. Told Kasselman in June that they need to come fix the drain hoses but they never showed. Hoses still draped across fences and windows in December now. Now the heat pump units went into defrost mode at 22 degrees yesterday and havent produced heat since. Service department has yet to send anyone out to look at the unit. Told them there is no ice or snow on outside unit. They claim its a supplemental heat source even though we were told they work down to 4 degrees, not that they stop working as soon as it gets below freezing. Got up above 32 degrees today and units still do not work. Clearly something is wrong. But they are not standing behind their product. They just make excuses and then ignore you.
Kasselman Solar has been great, they stand behind the product and installation. I had my system installed in November, had some glitches with the microinverters and lots of snow. Kasselman came back a couple of times to get it right. Now that winter is over and snow is gone, the system is producing nicely. Before selecting Kasselman, I interviewed and received quotes from 4 contractors. Kasselman was the most responsive and best price/value. They worked with me the entire process - NYSERDA, utility company etc. As of tax day, I got my Federal and NYS tax credits roughly 50% in total. Im looking forward to a zero carbon footprint. Steve Kasselman is a straight up guy, and he truly cares about his customers. Kasselman has a respected family business history that he strives to live up to, and he does just that.We just had a very large system installed by Kasselman Solar recently , and Steve has been very accessible, and communicated very well with me throughout the process. I highly recommend them.
We selected Kasselman to install our solar system because of the recommendation of my daughters friend that had them install a system and we were very pleased with the staff (Scott, Brandon) and the system is working well. I like that they are a local company. Im an engineer so Im into the nuts and bolts details and the Kasselman staff were great in answering ALL my questions and they use top notch equipment in their systems. They walked us through all of the required paperwork steps, tax credit, NYSERDA Grants, No-Interest Green Loan, National Grid and thoroughly walked us through the system startup and monitoring systems. They may not be the lowest cost vendor but you get what you pay for and from our experience Kasselman is the best value.
Kasselman made it super easy to get our solar system sized, approved and installed. They did all the paperwork and coordination with the utility company and local municipal authorities. Couldn’t have been easier.
If you are looking for solar panels with a great company you have found the place.We made a big mistake with Kasselman Solar – that was not getting this project started sooner!!!Our initial consultation with Stephen was informative with no pressure at all. And perhaps if they do have a flaw it is that they are not pushy enough! We took a long time and talked to many other companies and then we thought some more. Stephen would check in with us from time to time but was never pushy. We finally realized what we kind of realized all along, that the microinverters are the way to go and Kasselman was the company to work with.They took care of everything and since we were never in a hurry we were never pushed for an update and then Jillian called and said we were ready to go and the system was installed about a week before the original projected date.The crew was excellent every step of the way. They were courteous and cleaned up everything. Although there is some banging in the construction my wife said she often barely knew they were there. The crew got the work done in less time than they told us to expect.Jillian came out for the set up and start up at a time that was very convenient to our work schedule and probably not convenient to her schedule. And now we are making our own electricity! This process could not have been smoother and our only wish was that we trusted our instincts and signed up with them right away.

From my first meeting with ADAM JORDAN, to meeting with STEVE KASSELMAN to the final equipment set-up with BRANDON LeFEVRE ALL of the representatives of this company gave outstanding customer service, followed through on promises and expectations, were extremely informative and were a delight to work with! Adam I met through my realtor trade show and he took much time to explain the differences in solar companies and products. Not only did he explain everything from a consumers point of view, but also was instrumental in explaining how to assist my sellers or buyers when looking to buy or sell with solar systems. I appreciated the extra time he spent and the information was invaluable! I also had a chance to meet with Steve, the President of Kasselman, and was so impressed by his leadership, the structure of his company, and the superior products that they use. Its obvious that so much goes into training, product research and customer relations with Steve. Brandon was my Project Manager who was always a wealth of information, gave me time frames for phases of the job and always let me know what the next step was or what was needed at any given time. Almost instantaneously, I would get a reply (GREAT TECHNOLOGY). Their team of electricians from Kasselman Electric were excellent and knowledgeable (and neat too, which was a huge bonus), as were the installers that put up the panels in the snow and the wind. Everyone along the way explained EVERYTHING which is so rare, and never dismissed nor ignored any question or concern. The entire process went extremely smooth, with not one bump along the way (again, so rare). In fact, due to a cancellation I was able to get solar installed several weeks ahead of schedule to start saving money. Professional, educated, friendly!!! After going through the initial hurdle of getting the right information and deciding on a system, Steven Kasselman personally oversaw installation, multiple further questions from us, and subsequent help getting the electrician and inspectors in, setting the wi-fi connection, and witnessing our first watts being produced by the new system. His help and professionalism were top rate, honest, and thoughtful. It became a lot easier to deal with the transition feeling that Kasselman had our best interests in their minds. We are thus far quite content with the micro-inverter system and would not hesitate to recommend the company for solar.
Kasselman made this process very easy. From Scott Rakowski initially explaning the technology and each step of the installation process to the financing options, he was very knowledgeable. Kasselman offered the most efficient system compared to the 4 other companies I looked at. Having Brandon LeFevre as our product manager to handle all the paperwork and make sure everything was track so my wife and didnt have to follow up was really nice. He was readily available by phone or email and extremely personable. Using the app to monitor our system and see the production is really cool. Extremely pleased, top to bottom.
We started by requesting a quote from David at Kasselman in June and we finished the project in September. We were informed on every step and the quote we were given was what we paid. The entire team there were excellent. From the project lead, Allison Pepe to the actual installers. An exceptional installation of the system was neat and done with the upmost care to your home. Would refer them to anyone.
We researched many Solar Companies trying to decide if we wanted to lease, produce electric to have it sold back to us for a fee or purchase...once we sifted through all the smoke screens we chose Kasselman Solar. The first thing we noticed they gave us the facts there were no smoke screens at all. Then with the way they handled the entire process we felt very confident we made the right decision. We held off doing a review as we wanted to make sure of everything and to give an honest review. We already generated enough solar power that we are ahead of what we used last year and it has been a rainy season. All the ones we researched Kasselman Solar know what they are doing after all they come from a family of electricians which solar and electric go hand and hand...Please contact us we will be happy to answer any of your questions or concerns. We couldnt be happier with Kasselman Solar. I did a ton of research and met with several companies before deciding on Kasselman. From our first meeting with Adam to our last meeting with Jillian, everything went smoothly, and Kasselman made every step of the process so easy. Ive been telling everyone I know how happy I am - and Im not usually this happy when I spend this much money LOL but we are confident this was a great investment.
Ive been involved or interested in solar power both personally and professionally for over 30 years.Even though I already installed a small residential Solar array myself, when I decided to do it right , I shopped around a lot( 2 years) because I had a number of very specific demands. Lets say I had already made most of the mistakes people commonly make.Kassleman jumped out at me for a number of reasons.Longevity: Theyve been around a while and I know theyll be here for my children and grandchildrenLocal: I didnt want to do business with a highly leveraged, high pressure ,national startup companySkill Level: Many years in the down and dirty part of the electrical business.State of the Art Components: Simply stated, theyre equipment, whether racks, roof mounts inverters, panels or other electronics are the best available.Personal Service; Very important, they worked with me to do it the way I wanted or explained to me what the various choices were and why.Work Ethic: Most important of all, they returned calls, showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would do and when the crews were here, it was obvious that they were pros.I would highly recommend Kasselman Solar if you have considered installing a residential solar system.
I didnt hire Kasselman but I did request an assessment on my property. They were very honest in telling me that due to the trees surrounding my home, a solar system would not be effective or worth the investment. They advised if I ever remove those trees they would be glad to help me and Ill definitely call them if I ever do!
I first contacted Kasselman Solar after initially dealing with SolarCity. SolarCity came back with a proposal but it came in the form of long, tedious contract even though I was signing up to pay for 20 years of electricity up front. In addition, the usable area of the roof on my house is small once the Towns 3 setback was considered. I had purchased the storage building next door and added its acreage to my property. The building had a large roof and a large, south-facing brick wall. I had the idea that one could place panels on the wall instead of the roof but in a manner that would allow the panels to swing out in the summer to catch the rays from the high sun and swing down in the winter to gather rays from the low sun. In addition, the snow in the winter would mostly fall off the panels with the last bit being easily brushed off. An additional benefit would be the collection of the reflected light from any snow on the ground. No solar panel company that I have talked to considers the conditions of a NY winter.I had several long talks with SolarCity about placing panels on a wall – they refused to even consider it even though one of their engineers thought it was a good idea. I then saw an advertisement for Kasselman Solar. I went to their location of business to see their model. Although, they were also not set up to do wall installations, I decided to go ahead with the roof installation because I needed 26 panels and the wall would only allow 8. However, they did agree to help with the wiring of an extra panel that I could use for experimentation during the winter.The installation itself went perfectly even though the panels were put up on one of the coldest and windiest days at the end of November, 2014. I was left to install the extra panel which wasnt started until the next summer so I have no information about how it is going to perform in the winter. But as I was installing it, Kasselman came out to inspect everything and made a number changes in the installation so that it is now working along with the original panels on the roof. The software allows me to compare the energy produced by each individual panel and, in particular, allows me compare the output of the panels on the roof with the extra one which is just mounted on the ground leaning against the wall. I will have more information about the comparative output of the panels after the winter of 2015-2016.I paid for the panels up front after Kasselman gave me a breakdown of the NYSERTA grant money and the Federal and NY State tax credits. When filling out the tax forms for 2014, I found that their numbers were exactly correct. Leasing panels may seem like a good deal up front, but there are longterm contractual matters that I prefer to avoid.Steve Kasselman, who runs Kasselman Solar, and members of his company have been to my house several times to improve the installation and its communication system. When there are minor issues, he has been readily available by email to answer questions and to make suggestions. I think dealing with a local company is much better than dealing with big companies located in California. I recommend Kasselman Solar without reservation.By the way, the panels are now producing more electricity than we are using. I hope that the credits we are earning from National Grid will see us through the winter. Im waiting to see how this goes.
I got a couple different solar quotes. And decided to go with Kasselman, they had better panels that were Made in the USA... and micro inverters. A lot better than one single inverter. And a 25 year warranty. I would recommend Kasselman to anyone who is interested in solar panels
Kasselman installed a 24 panel system on our home. They were diligent and flexible throughout the entire process, answering all of our questions and providing clear descriptions of where panels would be installed and where wiring would be routed.The full black-frame panels look great, no blue PV or aluminum-silver frames and the rack system lags directly into the roof trusses complete with flashing. One of the best aspects of working with Kasselman was there attention to wiring routing inside of the house. Theres no ugly conduits on the roof or around the eaves. Everything is inside walls or the basement.Highly recommend.
Its a simple calculation: virtually no cost energy production that increases the value of your property, reduces air pollution, and requires little if any maintenance..Achieving that with Kasselman was equally simple. As noted in many of the reviews, Kasselman did a great job. Hats off to the young men we meant. Scott Rakowski was our salesperson. Had all the right answers to our questions. Please note, we researched the solar project for nearly two years before going with Kasselman, including the lease option (which I think is a very bad deal). Scott had the answers. I think the selling point was the MADE IN THE USA and the individual micro inverters. One kudo for Kasselman is that everyone show up when they say they will, a real novelty in todays world. Within 5 weeks, we were installed. Our final contact was with Brandon LeFevre (Project Manager), 45 minutes and BAM! we were Solar. Cant say enough for the Kasselman crew, very professional.Scott and Brandon, thanks for the great experience with Kasselman. Feel free to give my number to anyone in the area interested in Solar.
Adam Jordan my sales person was stand-up right from the beginning. Very responsive and knowledgeable. Brandon LeFevre was the Project Manager throughout the process of installation. He was as well, very responsive, professional and thorough. The installation was 2 days total with minimal interruption to my daily routine. I would highly recommend looking into using them for your solar project.
From the initial consultation with Stephen Clemens, through the installation with Jillian, until the system was turned on with Steve Kasselman, everything flowed smoothly, professionally and very quickly. The installers showed up to start as promised and finished exactly on time.The system was inspected quickly and Jillian and Steve were immediately at our door to turn it all on.Now we can sit back and watch our electric meter run backwards.Overall, I couldnt ask for a better company and system.
Kasselman Solar was great. The solar panels work fine, the workers were very polite and they installed the solar panels before the deadline. Also the panels were made in the U.S and the price was right. Its nice to work with a local business.

We were unable to have rooftop solar because of the post and beam design of our house but they did a great job working with us to set up an array in our field that has been functioning well for many years. We strongly recommend working with them!!

So they’ve earned it! :)Update: based on this companys reply to my review we wait to see what happens.In the beginning it looked like mother was going to have to sign up for $75/month analog telephone service (for a line she cant even use as a phone line) because of their partnership with NYSEG. But Kassleman hadnt told her that before she signed. So I gave them a bad review at first. But they helped her fix it. They were very dedicated to helping iron out the details.
The team as Kasselman were great to work with and used all the experience they have gained as electricians in this new industry. It all started with the insistence on meeting face to face to talk about their solution, the costs, the differentiators etc. and continued with an incredible, professional installation team, a project manager who communicated very well, and ended with the CEO coming to drop off and setup the last few pieces. All in all it was well worth it and I cannot wait to upgrade to grid tied battery system when it comes out. The technology is cutting edge, with micro-inverters, and web based monitoring. If there was any tiny piece I could ding them on, it was the fact that I was lost with the financing through NYSERDA and the third party bridge piece. Not entirely their fault as the whole system was swamped during this spring. I would 100% recommend them and will use them to expand in the future.

Any time I had questions, I was able to consult with someone and get the answers I needed. They set up the financing and all you have to do is follow up with the financial institution with your personal info as you would for any loan. The team was incredibly professional and respectful particularly during these days with Covid 19. The planning went smoothly with flexibility in determining the install date. The install went great as well, fantastic group who ran the project.
These guys are the greatest, had multiple quotes from other companies and they were by far the best option with the best product, the best installation and not to mention the best price. They made the whole process super easy and was as simple as signing my name a few places. Had a few questions before the install and the owner was answering my questions via e-mail as late as midnight, now that is dedication right there! They have a big emphasis on customer service and 100% customer satisfaction and and couldnt agree more. Have had the system going strong the past week and my meter just keeps rolling backwards. Would not recommend this company at all contact them about getting solar First i was told i would pay $500 down they handle all the financing and paperwork I was told I would get a bridge loan and another loan through NYSDERA for the cost and credit was not a problem for approval so I give kesselman $500 for them to tell me I have to pay $17658 out of pocket for the system and Was not approved. FEELS LIKE I WAS SCAM. Stay away from them.
This is an outstanding company with professionals from start to finish. All of our questions were answered in a timely manner either in person or via email. They took care of all the paperwork. The actual installation only took one day and the installers were quiet (no noisy radios) and competent. We are so pleased with this product and the web capabilities we have to monitor our solar gain. Thanks!

I was nearly ready to sign a contract with them when they stopped returning my calls and emails about the timing of the project. The owner, Steve, called us directly and apologized for the misstep which was very gracious of him. I have since signed a contract with Monolith Solar.
Unreal customer service and desire to go above and beyond for the customer. Kudos to them and I hope they will continue to do very well. I asked them if they could do one thing extra on my home (electrical related but not really solar related and they found a way to do it for me). They apologized when they couldnt do it a certain way - they were doing me the favor at no cost so no reason for them to apologize). A top notch operation.

2022-07-20I had a solar installation completed and the entire sales process, install, etc. was smooth and seamless. They had clear communication, responsive, and came through on promises. Unfortunately, I cant say the same for the support afterwards. The panels installed are reporting very different energy production than my utility company. I have reached out to Kasselman several times with no reply, or they have promised an immediate response which was never completed. Its now been two months since I reported the issue and I am not optimistic it will ever be resolved by them, which leaves an unfortunate bad taste in my mouth.

2022-06-12Everyone I dealt with at Kasselman was professional and personable. I started the process with Dave Kowalsky, PV Design Engineer, who patiently answered all of my questions and helped me figure out what size system I should get. There was no pressure at all and I never felt like I was being sold something. His approach was very consultative, much less salesy than other companies.For the installation stage, I was assigned to Nick Coveney, Project Manager. He returned all my calls promptly, was flexible in scheduling the work and stayed on top of things the whole way. I always felt that Nick was looking out to make the installation go as smoothly as possible. Even their roof inspector was helpful beyond what he needed to do for the project.After the installation was completed, I got a call from Dave when he saw that the weather forecast called for a storm with high winds and he wanted to make sure I added the panels to my homeowner’s insurance policy.From start to finish, these folks proved to be exactly who you want do business with. I highly recommend them.

2022-06-21I have been a customer of Kasselman solars since 2015, and it has been nothing but trouble from the start. They have not turned out to be what I would call a top-rated company. In the beginning, the panels were not producing as much energy as was guaranteed; despite putting an expansion after arguing for 2-3 years, it continued not to produce enough energy. I had to utilize local government funds to finally cut down trees to produce the minimal amount promised. Around that time, my roof began to leak because of poor installation. Initially, they fixed the first leak. However, the roof continued to leak due to poor planning and not utilizing engineers as they should have because I have a unique roof like many people in my area. When I contacted them, they told me leaks were due to the drainage system, not poor installation. I have had many experts in the roofing business that state that leaks are not due to the drainage system but by poor engerinring and not correctly installing the solar panels (they should not have been directly drilled into the roof and installed right next to the drain). In my attempts to resolve issues during an entire year and a half, I have called and have been ignored, and my calls get sent to voice mail. I have attempted to call and resolve the issues with the parent company and finally was able to get a callback. I was informed they would not come to assess the damage unless I paid an additional $350 fee—the company had already written off the damage as my problem. I had my insurance company and four separate contractors come to assess the roof; they sent out an expert to evaluate the roof, and it was deemed by the insurance company as well as the four contractors that the company was negligent and the panels were not installed properly. The company continued to disagree and did not attempt to correct the issues. They continued to push me to pay the $350 fee to have someone come to assess the roof; I was told that since they had already written off the roof as not their problem, I would be wasting my money. I even had a Kassleman solar sight asser and roofer state that they do not install solar panels the same method that was utilized on my roof—leading me to believe this method was not appropriate for most roofs.I had no choice but to replace my entire roof due to the extensive damage from installing solar panels. It would be between 9-10 thousand dollars for them to re-install the panels properly and use the ballard system, which should have been installed in the first place. When scheduling for the panels to be removed so I could have new roofing installed, they prioritized new customers over re-installing panels, leading to more damage to my roof while I waited for availability. In spring 2022, I could have the company remove the panels with a promise from the company that they would adequately re-install the solar panels within 3-4 weeks. The panels are still off; it has been three months without my panels re-installed. I continue to be ignored when I call back with no resolution. So I now total $2100 from the new roof. $2800 for the company to take the solar panels off, and now my panels are in my yard, not producing any energy as I pay more for my energy. I would not recommend Kasselman solars. Additionally, I was told I would have to hire for engineering outside the company costing $800-1500.

2022-04-25- I did not have any services performed by Kasselman. I am seeking a solar energy system, and phoned this company. A woman spoke with me who seemed to know little about Solar. She made a appointment on Zoom with me to speak with their lead design engineer.After my meeting with the representative I felt that my contact with them was mostly about their wish to sell a system and that my needs would not be addressed.

2018-12-31Kasselman Solar installed solar panels on a Carriage House that our company restored on North Broadway in Saratoga Springs, New York. Their team was efficient with getting the design complete and installing the system for us within the time frame we needed it done. Witt Construction, Inc. has nothing but positive comments to say about Kasselman Solar! The system installed has proven its worth and quality; leading us to offer solar from Kasselman Solar as an option to our clientele!

2019-11-02We recently had a ~7KW solar system installed by Kasselman from Colonie, NY.Stephen Clemens, Lead PV Design Engineer, came prepared with slides and was extremely knowledgeable to our door. We braced ourselves. We were gun-shy to do this because of a bad experience with a salesperson from SolarCity who held us “hostage” with a 2.5 hour demonstration. Stephen simply answered our questions after quietly listening. No sales pitch, just expert answers. We immediately signed up.Some things that were important to us were :1.Getting the full Tax Credit. After this year the percentage is decreasing so it had to be this year.2.Owning rather than renting. I didn’t want someone else’s panels on our roof. Our home insurance has more than enough to cover them so we didn’t even need to change it.3.Having a larger system than our current use so when I get a 100% electric car in a couple years, it’ll be sized right. Solar City had said it was not possible. Stephen however said it was, just more paperwork to submit, which would not be an issue for Kasselman.4.House resale value increase. And there’s evidence it does.5.Great quality panels and inverter. I don’t want them to degrade over the years as quickly as the Chinese panels I heard about. These are top quality in my opinion with a great warranty.6.Locally based business.7.Continuous monitoring for panel issues.8.An app app to see how things are progressing. Just saw power generation while it was raining! Didn’t expect that!9.Bridge loan from GreenSky for the portion we will get back from Fed and State tax credits so we didn’t have to come up with it all up front. That was easy. We’ll have a year no interest no payments, which will be sufficient to get through tax season.As for the installation. We had a project manager, Nick Coveney. He was fantastic. Always kept us informed. Made a professional quality site plan. Worked with all the different agencies to get permits and coordinated with us for mutually convenient installation and inspections for City of Albany. I really liked DocuSign for paperwork authorization. No printing, signing and scanning. Even did it once on my phone.And, as a bonus, our neighbor who recommended them gets a $500 referral check!

2017-02-25My good friend at work mentioned he was going Solar, which peaked my interest. Hes a great shopper, comparing a multitude of companies. He decided to go with Kasselman Solar. Visited his home only to find a huge ground mount array in his side Yard, nicely landscaped. Couldnt even tell there were wires unground. His basement showed of years of experience, if my friend didnt point out all of the wiring and components I would never even seen the additional accessories. Extremely clean job. Fast forward to our home in Town of Jackson, slightly larger array. But perfect installation very clean and well done. Inspector showed up from the county and wanted to know who the company was, I told him Kasselman Solar, very impressed....Installed in middle summer of 16 and now its late February and have YET to pay a Electric bill, have enough credits still for two more months, love it...Gregory & Deborah Hume

2021-02-19I worked with Alex on my installation of solar panels in September of 2020. There were a lot of moving parts to this installation and Alex did an amazing job with it all. Will every install, issue will come up, but Alex kept in constant communication with me, and took care of every issue. In the end, I was very happy with the results, and I want to give all of the credit to Alex for making it happen. Ask for Alex, if you are looking to get solar panels installed by Kasselman Solar - you will not be sorry!

2020-08-16Everyone we dealt with at Kasselman Solar from the owner to the installers was very professional, courteous and responsive. They kept us informed every step of the way and were very upfront with costs and helpful with financing. They showed up when scheduled and cleaned up when they were done. They were very conscious of safety concerns with Covid and limited access to our house and always wore masks when needed. There was a small miscommunication that, when brought to their attention, was quickly rectified. I would happily recommend them to anyone who is thinking of installing solar panels.
