The info clearly states No jeans, No sneakers, No baseball caps basically dressed to impress. Went to this place and I was the only one dressed up. Everyone else was in street gear. More of a sports bar than anything else. Bought two drinks and hookah, came out to $108. Not worth it. Hookah is very strong.
Came here for a friends birthday brunch. I didn’t even get my food everyone else ate. Our waitress was probably having a bad day or something. The hookah was $54 and it came half dead and only lasted 10 minutes. Was told we’d have a table for 2 hours only got it for 1:30 cus they need to clean for the next group. Mimosas took long to get here and cups took forever as well. I never leave review but I had too because this was a Terrible experience 0/10
This place is slightly odd, I went last night and there was a girl at the desk that just awkwardly said hi…,I was like um hi…I’ve never been here so…do I give you my id..or him or..because she was just talking to 2 of the bouncers. Then she was like oh there’s a $20 cover n it’s cash only, I went to the atm and paid…my friend arrived a few minutes behind me and was not charged anything. Then I go to the bar and got a hookah and a drink, which came out to $70. The hookah was mediocre at best n barely lasted at all, so I’m sure there wasn’t enough shisha in it to begin with. Music n Dj was cool …they closed super early, they were sweeping and taking the candles off all the tables at 10pm.
Beware they have people watching you to steal your stuff. Stole my purse and I only stood up for 10 secs to get a ginger ale. Constantly asked for the cameras and they wouldn’t let me see the angel to see who actually took it. Just kept saying my phone had to charge but was on the same phone 10 mins later with nothing. I will never give them my service again. Told them someone took 500 out my bag and they just stared at me like they didn’t care. Giving very much inside job and I will be reporting this to the police.
Heres my thing about this place. If youre going to advertise that you have an event at 11 pm and youre going to make people wait over 50 minutes to get in I dont know what to say to that. Security was extremely rude. Overall event inside was a lot of fun but to wait in the rain over 50 minutes is ridiculous.
One of the waitress (glasses) is so not friendly and not helpful. The brunch food took long to come (45mins)and was cold. They are unable to accommodate large parties (10) only in the vip(2 parties). Ray was very helpful and helped turn the worse experience to a more pleasurable one.
Came here on a Monday for a holiday party hosted by someone I know. Its a small area but its pretty cozy I think. The food and drink on the menu can be pretty pricey so I just ordered naan cause I wasnt looking to spend too much. It was really good and fluffy. Theres lot seats and the bartender was pretty nice. Its a good place I think for a holiday party or get together. Would like to come back and see how it is on the weekend.
Went here for my cousins bday party. Place is nice. The line was super long. Thank God we had V.I.P. didnt have to wait in the cold...lol. We had bottle service all night. Great Caribbean style food (if you want to eat there). Even though we had bottle service all night I wanted a beer. So I went to the bar and got my wife a special drink. Needless to say the drinks at the bar are over priced. Theres no telling how much my cousin spent that night. Atmosphere was dope. Music was great. And the females were on point. Everyone was there to party. Very rare to find nice places like this. Definitely would recommend this place.
Stole our Money! We ordered 4 Bottles in a Birthday package and were guaranteed a space in the package. 3 hours in we were told we needed to order more bottles in order to keep the space at 2:20am. They opened at 11pm. American Consumer robbery! $1000 down the drain. Birthday girls night ruined. F%@! Katra! Decor was sub par. Dirty and dingy plus disgraceful behavior from staff. A complete waste of a night. We turn the spot up and then we’re targeted by security to be gauged for more $. We did you a favor last night. Do not plan events here.
I havent been here since I was 21 but I was like Ive been hearing about the day brunch parties.....PreFix Brunch $45 w/ unlimited options of drinks which was really good for turn up with the ppls.... I had the lemon pepper wings n fries and too be honest I wish I got the Briocche Bun egg bacon.... they fries was good they also have hookah.....Also the two stars was for being rushed be we were pretty large party of 6 and spent over 300$ to be rushed on empty Saturday day brunch
It was first time being at Katra. The place is nice. Its smaller than Taj II however, the main floor is set up similar. The nice part is that its a two level place. The bartenders were pleasant. You can smoke hookah. The music was good. I cant comment on how good the food is cause I havent eaten there yet. This is a place I can see myself coming back to in the future.
What a horrible experience. Google says that the place closes at 4am, we arrived at 2:37 and the bouncer would not let us in because he said the doors closed at 3:30. We arrived almost an hour before the bouncer said the bar closes and they would not let us in that is absolutely absurd. While we were waiting for an Uber though the same bouncer let in 2 females that walked up and had not been in the bar previously. Very rude and horrible experience overall. We used to come here all the time before Covid and this was our first time trying to go back. Won’t make that mistake again. If I could give zero stars I would.
We came here to celebrate my birthday and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. They didnt have a birthday cake option, so the person who I think was the manager actually ran out to a bakery down the block and bought a cupcake to sing me happy birthday to. It was really nice and memorable. I really appreciated him going way beyond the extra mile for me. Thank you!
I went with a group of people with no intentions of eating brunch. I just wanted a drink so I went to the bar and the waitress and bartender got into it briefly because the waitress said I had to stay at the bar and the bartender said I dont. I was able to order my drink but then the bartender said its a $20 minimum on cards. I said well I dont have cash but I will go get it. Maybe he was annoyed at the waitress because he seemed to get aggravated and said dont worry about it as if I was making a fuss. I proceeded to go to my group and the waitress came to me and cleared the situation up which was appreciated. Then then moved us to a bigger section because we had a large party, plates and all. Everything seemed to roll a little smoother after that.
They not LGBTQIA’s friendly they have rude staff they are nasty the bouncers are rude nasty charge people cause they feel like it and they hit women and pour water in there faces stay away pack everyone in vip like as if that’s okay like covid is not around anymore our waiter tried to fight us like what’s wrong stay away when people are drinking and having a good time they wanna put you out instead of helping and giving water they want you to buy water when you spent so much money
I had my birthday brunch at Katra Lounge. It was organized by TD group, which offered 2 hour bottomless mimosas and Bellinis for $45 each (Brunch N Shhh). I paid a $50 deposit for my reservation of 6. Despite the curt and unresponsive waitress, I had an amazing time.Pros: The drinks were strong and the music was amazing. The restaurant/ lounge is cozy and the decor is Moroccan inspired. Special shout out to the charismatic bartender Chris, who told the DJ to shout out that it was my birthday. Chris and the DJ Ty are the main reasons for the 5 stars. I was dancing from 5pm to 10pm haha. Dj Ty played hits after hits (from hiphop to r&b, to soca, and afrobeats)! There was a photographer who took pics of your group for $20 a photo. The only cons were the service from the waitress and the inflexible menu. The brunch menu listed chicken and waffles, as well as french toast with turkey bacon. I asked the curt waitress if I could have chicken and french toast instead. She immediately responded no, which I found shocking because every other brunch spot Ive been to have been accommodating. When I asked why not, she said the kitchen would not allow it. Long story short, I ended up getting chicken (wings) and waffles but regretted it. Food rating: 4/10.The service on the waitress part was subpar and my table had to often times go directly to Chris to get our drinks refilled or for him to send her over.Overall, I recommend Katra but strongly encourage the management to get better servers/ waitresses. When people receive great service, they come back and recommend the location to friends.
Lowest standard of meal....just a wastage of time n money I had visited last iftar dinner food was not fresh with no taste ...high rates with short items ...enterior looks like a ghost house ,mosquitoes were freely biting ...They r just looting comers ...was a bad experience
Worst place to go to in NYC. Happy hour drinks are price at regular price and not discounted. The price of the drinks are not listed anywhere. The drinks were horrible and water down. Rude and Deceiving staff. Tips is automatically added for a party of two people. Very strange and a big rip off!! The food taste nasty. The place is tiny and over crowded. I spent the whole night begging for a cup of water. I went there for happy hour with my sister and spent $175 on 1 plate of finger food and a few drinks. STAY AWAY!! THE BIGGEST RIP OFF SPOT IN NYC. There’s a reason they have such a low rating. YOU BEEN WARN!!!
I called and made a reservation to enter, when I arrived i was told there was no reservation and if i wanted a table it would cost $$$$$ and was told i either needed to put $60 towards a eating/drinking credit in order to get in. it’s a shame what people would do to try to keep a business alive. i don’t like being lied to so we never went inside. the woman out front has a horrible attitude but having to work as a bouncer i can see why she’s unhappy
I just knew this was the best choice for my friend and her guess to spend her birthday at but then this happened. A group of 8 of us went there to celebrate my Friend on her Birthday on Sunday 10/31/2021. Our reservation was for 6pm but didn’t get seated until 7:25, because we was told another group was in VIP which means they over booked. We was offer to go downstairs until VIP was available. Downstairs really didn’t accommodate us for our group size but we made it work, they gave us plastic champagne glasses but then we waited another 30 min for them to bring us our drinks. The plastic glass are disposable so I’m not sure why they are recycling them, but they all was dirty and one even had red lipstick on it. Then they gave us real glasses but then was told RIP was ready for us. We waited another 45 min for drinks and for them to take our food order. Things was ok until 10:00 came and we was told that we had to leave the VIP area because another group paid for 11pm REALLY and the dJ stopped playing the music at 1000. when it was time to swipe my friend card they try to say we had to give them $900 when we gave a $200.00 deposit, and was told $600. Then another waiter came and said they can’t find our deposit so we showed them the email. We was so over it that we just left, the next day someone at katra tried to charge my friend card for $600 (how foul)and the bank alerted her. Bad customer service and bad for business and never gain
Horrible customer service to the max! Bought a VIP section, bought food, bottles, hookahs like we spent money money after 2 hours they said we had to move. That would have been ok if they communicated that there VIP is only 2 hours prior to us purchasing it! We was never told that we was escorted out of VIP like we stole something very embarrassing. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ESPECIALLY IF YOU PLAN ON GETTING VIP SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!!
I had a great time because it was my birthday and I had great people with me but unfortunately I was drawn to this place by a party planner and when I got there it was very discombobulated then unorganized and nobody seemed to know who he was, the servers didnt know the party planner/event specialist, not the door man, not the bouncers, neither did the coat-check people know him.... but they made a way for me to get my table and my bottles it was a little bit small but otherwise I had a great time
Let me first say my niece and daughter both 23 years of age did the reservations. I kept insisting on helping them but they didnt allow so heres what happened.According to the emails received supposedly from the party promoter (According to a waitress) . The section was available as long as we brought food. They did say that the mimosa and bellini would be only for an hour and a half. I serving we had to go look for the waitress for the second serving. The drinks are served in 5cent plastic cups. The food is packaged in Chinese take-out containers. The menu in the lounge is different from the menu they email and show you online. The waitress said they dont have anything to do with the promoters. I dont see how when they are falsely advertising. The section is only for a hour and a half . We hadnt even finished our second servings of drinks before the waitress came with the bill and the bouncer followed. So if you eat slow dont go here. If you dont guzzle down your drinks dont go here. If you like being toyed with and manipulated this is the place a bunch of liars. They work together, the waitress try to act like they dont know but they do. The gratuity and the waitress took our order, brought the drinks and food. We had to go look for her. Gratuity was about 80.00 for nothing. Over 500.00 for a hour and a half . A rip off
Its a scam. They promote free til 12a. Make you stand on line for 2 hours and charge the ladies $20 and the fellas $30 to get in. Once inside it way to crowd to move around and enjoy the night. To crowded to get to the bar for a drink. The tables are this tiny section over flowed with the general entry.. what a waste..
Went here for R&B Thursday for my birthday weekend. We rushed to get there only to find out they were an hour late opening which I wasnt going to fuss about. The seafood and drinks were good but they raise the price on the drinks just to offer them 2 for 1. Drinks are close to $20 for one. It was my first time in New York so we werent aware of the automatic gratuity. I asked to speak with the manager and he told the waitress he wouldnt talk to me and just charge my card anyway. They threatened to call the police on me and refused to tall to me. I was in no form disrespectful or had a problem with paying for anything we ordered but I wont pay for unauthorized charges or bad services.
I would not recommend anyone to this unprofessional and unorganized establishment. I went to Katra Lounge for my birthday weekend and had made reservations for small group plus paying a deposit to secure my section all through eventbrite. As soon as we arrived there were issues at the door. I told the bouncer I paid a deposit and he rudely said “to who?” Despite me showing him my ticket from eventbrite. He then said it was a $50 tab per person (spending limit each) and we had to give our credit or debit cards to a guy who came to collect them then gave it to a bartender. The bartender sat us at a table and didn’t really tend to us. We got a hookah and some drinks which took forever and the hookah was horrible as the attachment was lose and kept coming off. After 20 minutes the bartender told us we had to leave the table. As we got up we wanted to stay and enjoy the place but a security guard kicked us out as soon as we left our section. We did not even get to spend our $50 each that we were charged to our cards. We literally only got 1 or 2 drinks each. So we left with $275 tab for 20 minutes at the spot having had 1-2 drinks each and 1 hookah. The bartenders, bouncers and security guards are extremely rude. The place has also gotten very ghetto and unprofessional. No covid regulations either , as a medical professional I feel like bartenders and should wear masks , but none had any. I am very disgusted and disappointed with the disrespectful and unprofessional treatment me and my guests received at this establishment. I will never visit again and will tell my friends and family not to either. I am in the process of requesting a refund of my deposit which was not used and frankly they did not care about. I have not heard back from anyone. Please do not waste your time or money going to Katra Lounge just to be rushed and kicked out after 20 minutes.
The djs are fire. There are two floors when i went yesterday it was hip hop first floor and carribbean second floor. The place was packed even during covid barely any place to dance without getting pushed around. I showed up at 11:30 pm made a reservation since its free before 12. Waited on that line until 12:45 am. That pist me off. $20 cover boys and girls. If u dont want to wait in line get bottle service to skip the line and waiting. There is hookah inside and plenty of areas to reserve a private section.
Besides my tickets not being honored standing on line for 2hours while friends of bouncers begged to get in then finally getting to the door just to be told men $30 female$20 to get in it was no way we were turning back! Lol But when inside it was a VIBE turnt up music was great energy was great drinks that night was on point! Cash is needed for the door but they do have a Atm lol
Very nice vibe. I got invited to a birthday gathering there, and the music was great, the people were even better. Everyone danced the night away without judgment and enjoyed the time. It closes at 1am though; personally I feel like thats early but you sure get your fair share of fun:). I will definitely go there again!
Katra is always guaranteed a good time. I came last night for Brunch. We got to eat around 9. I dont like to eat right before closing but theyre food was hot and fresh. I had lemon pepper wings with fries and they both was fresh, hot, and good! The Dj could of mixed it up a little more but like I said Katra is always a good time regardless. Ive been coming here for years and will continue to come!
The promoter for certified Saturdays is a bully who can’t handle a crowd. They make you wait online forever even when there’s space inside. I bought a section and it was the worst experience ever. The flyer told me I get three bottles and a hookah for the price I paid. Instead I got two bottles no hookah and a lot of attitude. Then in some weird attempt to move my section my hookah was lost by them for almost an hour. I literally had to go outside and almost square up with the promoter to get any customer service. Then he gets security involved, gets him slapped then tries to reason with me afterwards. Never spending money there again
I love this place but they have become so money hungry and disrespectful! They claim to be open until 4am make wait in line for an hour to charge 30$ for men and $20 for women to let you in at 130am to kick you out at 230am and the way they do it is crazy they are so rude…. I’m gonna miss this place but I’m not wasting my money going here anymore more 🤷🏻♀️❗️
“No cover before 11pm” but then there was a mandatory $5 coat check—they literally guide you through the doors and make sure you check your coat before actually entering—which I wasn’t a fan of. Pretty good hip hop dancing music though. It got really crowded on a Friday night though and the space is very narrow, so it became exhausting/annoying constantly bumping up against people and being shoved around anytime someone was trying to walk across the place. Given the charge & small size, I’d rather go somewhere else.
The staff were super friendly and the space has a cool vibe. Great music - rap and hip hop when I was there, not sure if this is what they always play. The mandatory coat check was a huge turn off. The price ($4) was annoying, but the fact that I couldnt just go outside at my leisure was really inconvenient. I didnt even try because I was skeptical that they might try to charge me again when I came back in.
Pros: Great DJ, not too crowded, nice people. Con: Did not like that we had to stand in line for 45 minutes in 30 degree weather to get in, this place was highly recommended so we waited it out. Although not sure if I could feel my feet once inside. There should be a quicker line for women.
Music is great, drinks are great. Staff is friendly. Gets a little overcrowded sometimes though. Also, they take your chair after a certain time which kind of sucks when youre wearing high heels.. Food is ok and the crowd is friendly and inclusive. Ive been here a few times and I will definitely go back.
Great hostesses, good music, terrible management with poor communication, singled me out for a “mandatory”coat check of $5 when they asked no one else at our table (or any else with a table) Tried to kick us out of our table multiple times before they even completed our service
Nice place. Atmosphere is great and I love that they have hookah as well. The DJ was great!! The only thing is that it is a little tight which is expected in many NYC locations and there arent many tables. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because there was a very rude bartender who flat out told my friends and I that she was tired of giving us water after we spent over $200 in hookah and drinks and just wanted 2 cups of water. She was clearly miserable and hated her job. But I would definitely be back
Good new year party but bouncer was worst anyone can be…We were there for new yr party’17. Super crowded and management had not expected this much crowd. They charged for checking coats which were not there in the ad. There were 2 levels and DJ were different at both levels. We did not get many starters as we were promised. The bartender was trying her best to keep happy everyone. Upper level has sofa seats and groups seating arrangement. It was quite congested but we had a good time. They had all the options in liquor. The only worst thing was when I went out with my friend after 1 for smoke, they did not let us in and we had a fight over this.Management was quite helpless on this, seems few brown people arranged this event and they had less authority over this.Party wise-its good. Rest-they needs to improve.
Went here for my birthday and loved it! It does get a hit crowded but its a club so, thats the norm. The DJs were great! They played your more recent hip hop/r&b hits and classics. They catered to us Islanders, along with playing some African/Nigerian hits also. Had the best time & plan to go again next time Im back home & going out in the NYC area.
Beware! I have been to Katra many times, I will never go back again. The last time I went, it was just to pick up some food. The two girls told me that the 2 boom boom fritay pork was 100 dollars, $50 each. I said, fine. I dont usually pay attention to food prices. That day I asked for my receipt because I was standing behind them and noticed that they only put that they charge me $50 on their system when in fact, they charged me $100. When I asked why the receipt didnt match what I paid, they said it was taxes. But on the receipt, my total taxes was $4.44, and the total was $54.44Why steal from your customers? We Haitian have enough stereotypes against us. Why reinforce them? Its a shame and its disgusting!
Only can give it a 4 star bc my company rented out the place for a holiday party so I cant comment on their regular night service. But the drinks were great, the appetizers were good. Had pescatarian and vegetarian options. Music was great. Moroccan atmosphere. VIP had throw pillows. Hookah was available to us.
I went to Katra for their 90s Bashment Party on Thursdays. The drinks were delicious. The music was great!!! I barely sat down because I couldnt stop dancing. If you want great reggae and soca music on the Lower East Side this is a good place for it. Side note: its pretty empty until around 10pm.
I will not return to Katra because of false advertisement. I registered on the guest list which stated that all ladies were free before 1am and men free before 12am by stating one is on the “ Gametight Guestlist at the door.” However, when I arrived with my two friends (a group of three women total), the security said that there was a $50.00 cover charge and all guests had to buy food, a bottle, or hookah. We told the security guard we were on the gametight guest list but he said we that was not valid; we even showed him our email confirmations and he repeated that all guests must pay a $50.00 cover. Apparently, the manager who was beside the guard (who refused to explain to us why our guest list registration was not valid) needs to change the way he promotes his events. If we knew there’d be a $50.00 cover, we wouldn’t have spent $200.00 on food and drinks at The Boil (which is amazing if you enjoy seafood) before arriving.Anyways, my friends and I ended up at Jimmy’s 38 NYC which honestly advertises a free before 12am guest list and $20.00 cover charge if after said time. Jimmy’s 38 NYC sells drinks worth their price and plays a great mix of 90s-present hip hop, reggae, dancehall, and Afro beats.Definitely, won’t give Katra another try; I do not recommend.
Had a good time when I visited. It was Reggae vs. Hip Hop night..Im not a huge Hop Hop fan but I love Reggae music and they had all of the fan favorites playing. It was snowing though and we had to stand outside in line EVEN though we pre ordered our tickets...ugh I never want to do THAT again
We got in pretty fast and normal $20 cover. Drinks downstairs were great. Although I didnt know that they add gratuity. Most people drinking probably arwen paying attention and its dark so you cant see. My bartender was a blonde and took care of me so I tipped her over the gratuity. Music was great. Lots of new and old school hip hop. However no dance floor and no where to sit when your feet got tired.
Amazing customer service! We walked into a gorgeous multi level area with excellent space management, and we had excellent customer service on Sunday afternoon. There was a small disagreement that was handled with an extremely high level of professionalism and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to others looking for a high-end establishment for after work relaxation.
For New Years we spent over $1,000.00 for our “VIP section”. Upon arrival the promoter, bouncer and bottle girl argued about who was supposed to get what cut of the money we gave them from the other half of the deposit. We didn’t drive all the way from CT just to hear that! It was supposed to be a section for 6 people but only 4 could really fit. This place was so small that we couldn’t dance. Everyone kept standing in front of our section so we couldn’t see anything . The females were the thirstiest and kept asking for a drink. There were puddles of everyone’s drinks on the floor, our shoes were ruined! Every time I looked up some one was putting their drink on our tables. No ropes up to section us off from the crowd they were basically standing on top of us. So much so that we ended up standing on the tables to try and get a two step in! A bouncer told me that because we had a section we could go out a side door to smoke so we could be let back in without standing in line. They never answered the side door and we had to go back in line just to get back in! Nothing was organized and the down stairs was also packed and was reminiscent of Harpo’s juke joint in the Movie Color Purple! Never again!
I hosted my guys 50th birthday party here in February and had a great time. The manager ensured that we all were taken care of. The bartenders were experienced professionals and the food was equally enjoyable. I recommend this place to anyone looking to host a private event. They have great deals for you and your party size.
I really like this place for throwing events. I threw an event here recently, and the staff was wonderful. The manager was great. It was a really good experience. I have a feeling I would find the music to be too loud most of the time (Im getting older), but I heard word that the food was also good, the hookah good, and the drinks were delicious. An excellent experience for me and my staff!
I had a reservation for 10 people at Katra for Thursday, December 26 at 6:30 PM. This was supposed to be my birthday celebration. Please note that the majority of my group was coming from NJ.At 6:15 PM, I received a phone call from a friend who arrived there a little early and she informed me that Katra was closed. I wasnt there yet so I called the number listed for Katra and the lady on the phone told me that Katra should be open. She was physically located at Taj but Katra would not be closed without them being informed.I had my friend call them directly as I still wasnt there yet and she overheard someone said that the promoter cancelled the event. It was as I was parking did I get a phone call from the venue that the promoter cancelled the event and Katra was closed until 11 PM.So I had scramble to find an alternative venue at the LITERAL LAST MINUTE and notify my friends of this change. I made the most of the situation because it was my birthday and I just wanted to have a good time. But this experience with them is unacceptable and we were not the only group that showed up for reservations. I dont know how this lapse in communication occurred but they absolutely need to do better. I would not recommend them for special occasions.
Went there for New Years Eve. Bought 5 seats for bottle service and hookah. Was given 2 and placed awkwardly in front of coat check. Hookah was terrible. The advertised bottle service selections were not available. The premium open bar didnt actually have a lot of top shelf liquors. The bar tenders didnt know how to make a lot of drinks. I had to teach her how to make a seven and seven. The waitress was the best part of the place. She worked her tail off all night. People kept putting drinks on our VIP table. Dont understand why I payed so much extra. A girl cut her foot on the broken glass that was everywhere. I will never go back to this place again, and advise not to pay anything before getting there and seeing what you are actually getting.
Im not sure why this place has 3+ stars. In my opinion, this place deserves none. I went there this past Saturday and I must say, this so one of the worst lounges I have been to.They tell you on the phone that if you make a reservation, you wouldnt have to pay a cover. So. Im like, okay cool, my sister did that earlier. My sister and I get to this place, and they tell us its $10 after 12. The lady on line NEVER mentioned this over the phone. So, minus a star for hidden fees. Then they make you pay for coat check. Okay, thats fine. Whatever. But, then later on in the night, we text our friend to meet up because shes outside on line, and were standing on a landing of stairs, the bouncer yells at us if we dont get off immediately, we will have to leave. Ummmm... do ya have to be so rude about it? You couldve just asked nicely...Anyway, the music was okay. The decor was not bad, but not memorable either. The crowd was meh. Not so awesome. I cant speak on the drinks, since we had bottle service. Bottle service wasnt a hassle. So, at least thats a glimmer of light in this miserable night.Overall though, I would suggest you avoid this place and hit up other (better) joints in LES.
I made a reservation for my Birthday that supposed to be free and when I came they asked me for money with my reservation. I was very disappointed. They only care about money those people. I dont mind to pay but they supposed to let you know when you make the reservation. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and GUETTO
Purchased tickets for New Years here and what a disaster that was. Firstly, we were made to wait outside in the rain until midnight on the dot, and secondly we never even got to enjoy our open bar because after a scuffle broke out between a man and a couple of women they decided to shutdown the bar or at least that is what we were told. So we were cutoff about 45 minutes to an hour into arriving inside. You would think they would give us a credit or try to work something out being as we werent the reason for the problems... But nope. I think thatll be my first and last time visiting.
Came here for a birthday a few months ago. It is small and very crowded. Two floors, mostly hip hop and top 40s...occasional Caribbean and Latin music in the bottom floor. Drinks are super expensive, Hennessey and coke is $15. My male friends who used to come here often got scammed several times (one time each) by a bartender on the bottom floor...overcharged $4-5 extra on the already high price for drink, they used credit card. If you go here better pay cash or check your bill before you leave the bar.
I would only give 5stars to the DJ Saturday night but they charge you extra money for wearing flats instead on heels with no notice the drinks are super expensive! No sitting room unless you buy a bottle! It was not a good experience I won’t ever go again when I’m in town visiting from Georgia
Great ambience. Cool vibe. Prime location in one of my favorite NYC neighborhoods. Friendly and attentive staff! Kristinas work ethic/professionalism were outstanding. She is one of a kind! So if youre out and about looking for an epic time, head to Katra and tell em DC sent you!
I signed up for their free drink promo from 11pm to 12pm and when I went to the bar they told me no free drinks. After standing outside in the rain from 11 pm to 11:30pm when the door should of been opened at 11 I Was lead to to coat check where they charge 5 dollars. I had a coat and a sweater underneath and they wanted to charge me double, 5 for my coat and another 5 for my sweater. This is the worst experience at a lounge I ever had. On top of that there is no where to sit. The seats are reserved for people who buy bottles. The workers dont have manners. Their promo was false. I dont recommend anyone after 12am to pay to go in.
I went last night for a soca event. They held the line up so I didnt even see the line move in over an hour. I heard the manager come out and say okay, let some of the guys in. and he went back in, and security still held up the line. They wanted you tip them off to get in. A lot of people just left. Guys stuck outside while their girlfriend is inside. Ruined a lot of peoples nights. Dont waste your time going here, unless you wanna get stuck on the line all night.
I drive 45mins without traffic to go to Katra and enjoy Kompa Tuesday.Nice food presentation. Food looks good and ALWAYS taste great. I love the setting of the place. Their customer service is on point. Be ready to dance if you’re going to Katra.Great food, drinks 👌🏽
Some people complain about Katras size but I dont mind it as much. Its still 2 floors and very linear (Think long hallway type)Every time I have gone I had a great time! The music...sheesh...I cant say enough about it. The music is always on point! The DJ plays everything from hip hop, reggae, trap, etc.The bartenders are attentive and you never have to wait too long for a drink. The hookahs are a bit harsh but then again I have only experienced that once.
My made reservations for my husbands birthday we got there 20 mins before the time i let the bouncer at the door know he told me to wait on line i watched him collect money from ppl who was just walking up and let them in when i approached him again he told me i wasnt the only person with reservations waiting and other people showed up late so all reservations was pushed back i was very annoyed and embarrassed that for my husband birthday myself and 3 others was waiting outside over an hour only to be finally told we can go in but had to sit at the bar this definitely wasnt what i wanted and this was a bad experience
Do not believe what they say about OPEN BAR Saturdays its a lie. My friends and I signed up on eventbrite expecting to get open bar for two hours, the bouncers said it was just advertising and even tried to charge us for coming inside. This place is not worth your trouble.
Yes. All type of music. I loved it when I visited. Started not to go in because it was late and they cover was like 30$ (but my homegirl was fiending). But had mad fun once I was in the spot. Drinks were okay. They hit after the 3rd one. Beautiful ppl, beautiful enegry. Great staff. Will be back once the weather starts acting right!
First and definitely last time I will ever attend or even mention this location to anyone for clubbing needs. Saturday April 7th,10 friends were hoping to celebrate our friends 25th b-day party through the use of a Eventbrite. Long story short the ticket was not being honored at the bar. Despite the bouncer accepting the coupon as valid.Second issue, we move downstairs to their other space. There is empty seating sections along side the wall. We sit down and are told we need to purchase bottle service to stay which we proceeded to do. After purchasing five bottles all 10 of us proceed to sit. We were told that we could not take up that much seating and was forced to move, and only 4 of us could fit in the space. Later we learned that there was a space that fits 15 all for the same charge but we werent informed until we asked about it, and we were told that we could not change spots. Finally the most annoying thing of the entire visit we were instructed to leave the seating area once our bottles were finished; it appeared we must have been taking too long and a server came to our table and began to clear and dump our bottles into the ice bucket. When asked to stop she paused watched us in our faces silently and just walked away.In conclusion this was my first bottle service experience, and definitely the last (I guess Im not a BALLER). In addition with the poor service and behavior of the staff, I would not recommend this club to anyone.Yeah worst clubbing night of the year and of that weekend. Got there at 11pm was gone by 1am. We tried to stick it out but with the nasty attitudes and extremely crowded and tight location (despite the two levels) we had to call it quits.P.S. They charged my friend $220 for a $22 meal took up to 5 days to get a refund.
This place is the absolute worst they had an event on Halloween it was supposed to start at 10pm me and friends arrive there at 10:15pm. They didnt start to let people inside until 11:30pm . We all had a ticket saying free entry with costume until 11:30pm and when we were walking in they wouldnt let anyone with that ticket in unless we paid $20 all I got to say is that whoever hosted this event did a terrible job and this will be the first and last time Ill ever come here BIG MISTAKE and a waste of time
A place like this should have air condition. I was at a event here last night & it was about 90 degrees. I paid to get in only for it to be hotter inside than outside. For a club that gets money and for the crowd not to be so big, the AC shoulduv been on much higher. It was way to hot in this place. People were fanning them selves bc no air was circulating. Won’t be partying at this in NY anymore & I wouldn’t advise anyone to go there either. It’s just sad & crazy. Someone coulduv passed out.
I hosted a baby shower at Katra Lounge and it was beautiful! The staff was extremely accommodating from planning my event with Marilyn to the actual staff on the day of...Stephanie, Noel and Raj, thank you for making my best friends shower a huge success. And the food was delicious! I will definitely use this venue again in the future.
Katra is our go to spot when partying in the city! Each time we go, we always get bottle service. Package prices are very reasonable compared to other prices in NYC and in other party cities. My girls and I have celebrated 3 birthdays here and the service is always great - going on a 4th birthday this weekend. Hostesses are friendly and if you ask for birthday shoutout for someone in your crew, theyll give the message to the DJ. Speaking of the DJ, always good music on the main floor - hip hop, 90s, sometimes 80s, and trap. Great security - they do not tolerate any nonsense which is amazing for people like us that just want to have a good time. Security is tight for the upper VIP level as well. Cant wait to party at Katra again this weekend!
Katras lounge is a great spot to attend if ur looking to have good night out. The atmosphere is chill and friendly. The bouncers seem real cool and comforting while standing on line. Not to mention they have a line system that I found different and pleasing. 1 line for single men and the 2nd line is for woman and couples. Not a lot of places have this and was noticably smart. Sometimes u go as a couple with ur partner and always get separated. One isnt always have to wait long or never actually get in. The night I went, I was charged 25 per person for both men and woman. Just not sure if his is only for the event I went to.The interior was nice and comfortable looking and feeling. Coat check is available here by the way. They have partitions with comfortable seating for the reserved ppl doing bottle service and hookah. I am not sure if u can walk into an reserve, but I recommend calling in advance to set up ur party. I dont want to forget to mention that they do have a basement area with it own bar as well. The bartenders was nice and drinks was strong. However, the prices are inconsistent and expensive. My first drink was a Ciroc Coconut with pineapple juice which cost $12 per glass. Also I had a Long Island Iced Tea which ran me $18 per glass. Downstairs now had a different set of prices. I paid $16 per glass for the same Ciroc Coconut straight. That pretty much discouraged me from purchasing any more drinks from here.Overall I would recommend coming here if ur looking for a nice mixed crowd with good music. Other than the drinks are my only gripe with this place. I believe once they get the pricing consistent across the board. I will be returning here, but I will be sceptical on getting drinks becuz of its price.
Came here on a Friday night when the city was empty due to a public holiday. Yet they still charged a cover, $20. You have to mandatory get a coat check $5/coat. The inside ambience was not so great. Place smells because of the hookah The lounge is small and barely has room to walk. The bartender added the Tip% for a two drink tab. Music was mostly Rap/Regge/Jamaican
Mixed feelings about this place but after recent visits, they have definitely improved their image. Prior to my last visit, there were unprofessional bouncers that used excessive force that would even endanger persons not involved in the altercation. With a few new bouncers, and a more mature crowd ranging from 21 - 30 on average. It felt much more inviting than before. With two levels both alternating between several genres(reggae, reggaeton, hip-hop or soca), it is really good vibes. You can reserve a table in the VIP section or one from the upstairs or the basement level. Word to the wise, unless you have Verizon the basement can be a bit of a dead zone so sorry Snapchatters. Great for a group of friends trying to enjoy themselves and meet new people. HAPPY CLUBBING!!!
Signed up for promotion ahead of time, guys enter free before midnight. But there was a queue. So I checked in with the doorman when I arrived at 11:45. When entering club at 12:02, same doorman wouldn’t honor my ticket/free entry, and was extremely rude about it (little Asian dude). ...fake promotion. It’s funny how customers are treated when times are good. Our collective memories will certainly last longer than your success will.
Very Nice place when its not so Over crowded. And they need to fix or turn up the Air condition when it is that Busy. But it was an Ok experience. I see why people come early stay late. $25 if u didnt get there before 11pm. Then at 4am...Its Everyone Get Out! You have 5-15 minutes to exit before it gets Rough lol.
Went for an office Christmas party of my girlfriend and it was not impressive. Place was very small and because of the small space and several people, uncomfortably hot. The food that came out was mediocre and by the time I got to it, 2 trays were already gone. I was not that far back in the line and Ive worked at restaurants and caterers before and you have to make sure to have the next tray ready to go ASAP.While I admit I was not there for a normal night and therefore didnt get the full experience, what I saw that night did them no favors to get me to come back.
Music was great it was packed aint hardly have anywhere to dance but everybody aint care about that they was dancing on each other my experience was good just wish I didnt wait an hr outside and they honored the no cover charge in free drink from event brute but I enjoyed my bday
The bartender was very rude. I asked him for some water and he said $5 for a bottle of water. I asked for a cup of tap water and he said no its not free. I dont know of any establishment that would not provide a courtesy cup of water. Very bad customer service and nasty attitude. Would not be returning again.
As a marketing manager who decided to celebrate getting my masters with a number of other managers and directors...we were beyond disappointed with service here. The venue told us seating for 10, but only provided seating for 4. When given more seating for my group, we were split and positioned on opposite sides of the room. Although I was celebrating with 20 people, the server yelled at me for my mixed group (of people I knew and did not know) going to the bar for drinks although she was most present to rush us to close our bill. I actually had one guest tell me they were getting annoyed. When I closed my bill, the young lady (Makayla) ran my card for eveything after I was told at close I would be able to decide how to pay by, I think her name is Tierra. The server, Makayla, really needs better service training, or to be fired. In the end, you make the best of a situation, but I expected better. Also, she poorly explained reservation process. We asked if we could switch tables with a small group near us to move our two groups closer together, and she said we would have to give up having any seats if we did that and that it would confuse the waitstaff although we were personally going to ask the other group for the courtesy.
Took 3 of my female cousins to Katra last Friday for 2 of their birthdays. I put them all on the Chris AC guestlist, that said ladies get in free until 2am. HERE WE GO... We got online around 12:30am. Security held the line for guestlists to run out. My cousins got in before 2am, but were forced to pay $20 each. I went up and spoke to Franky (i guess he was the manager), showed him the Chris AC guestlist text stating 2am for ladies, and he simply said, Im not honoring that. I ended up paying for everybody! When we got in, the place was SUPER packed! Elbow to elbow. Drinks spilling, people squeezing past you every second (its a pretty narrow spot). We went to the bar, only one bartender was there at the time. I asked for 2 vodka and cranberrys and 2 Long Islands (which came in little skinny glasses). Receipt came...$68!!! Effin RIDICULOUS!!! Safe to say, Im DONE with Katra. They hold lines, dont respect the promotions, and charge like $18, $20 a drink, and has no space to move in there. BEWARE this spot!! They have no integrity...
This club is WAAAAYYYY over priced!!! Went here for a friends Bday got VIP for 17 ppl which only fit 5 ppl, yet cost 500 bucks!!! We were moved so that we could be elbow to elbow with other patrons who also payed for VIP. Went to bar to get henny n coke $18 for a $3 dollar cup!!! Despicable!!! The only reason Im giving even 1 star is bc the DJ was awesome!! I will not be going back and do not recommend this place at all!!
First, As per a flyer on Twitter, I called to be put on the guest list and waive the overpriced cover charge. Someone called me back to confirm my reservation. When I got there I was told to come back at 11. When I came back at 11 they charged me $20 to get in. When I said I called prior they asked for an email which I never received or told was needed.Second, I came with my boyfriend and they made him wait 10 minutes because they let to many guys in prior. So I had to wait in a corner just for him to get in. So if you want a night out with your man make sure youre not behind single guys trying to mingle or your man will be left waiting. Its not about the cost because at the end of it I paid it. Its more the principal of false advertising and overall experience that merited the two stars.

2022-02-27⚠️BEWARE! There are RAISINS in the French toast and it was soggy😑 We had no disclaimer. Ambiance is cool, but raisins in my food got me hot. (I got fries because I didn’t want the Turkey bacon or eggs)

My friends and I celebrated a birthday here this past weekend and I cant say enough how awesome the Manager Ra was, he and his team were professional and really pleasant to deal with! 2022-03-30Food was great. The service could have been alot better than what it was. Bathroom could have been cleaner than what it was. If my jacket goes wit my outfit I should have to take it off. I seen a lady who had on a jacket with outfit and they didnt make her put it in the coat check.

2022-05-25Celebrated the weekend of 5/7/22 for my birthday and I have to say I had a great time! The energy was good, the Dj was good (Thanks for the bday shouts) the food was good, and the hostess most definitely was great. She attended to our needs and took care of my party for every need. Thank you and yes I would go back!

2022-08-21This place is ridiculous! Charging to even sit down! Even after paying for a hookah you got to stay standing even if the place is empty. The waitress are disrespectful and spend more time fixing their make up and hair then working. The music is lame and DJ doesn’t know how to mix. They only play the music loud as if it would make a differenceThey promote Caribbean parties but play rap and r&nb

2021-06-21Great vibes, I went for the brunch and the food was delicious. No dancing signs though... two stars off for me. Not my kind of lounge. This place use to be the go to back in the day. I danced there all the time. I wish they didnt change this.
