To be honest, I was concerned about this place because I saw a couple of reviews about the staff. However, I had a great experience. The place is busy and so they have a system that works and I just followed it.My latte was excellent and so was the soup. My friend got a cappuccino and some bread which she said was also really good. The atmosphere was lively and pleasant and comfortable. And the staff were nothing short of saccharine sweet. They were closing and still let us sit there and even gave me some cookies! I will definitely go back, I loved it.
I’m so pleased with how my food and coffee went. The latte? Awesome even without sugar. Croissants? Holy good and fresh. Their grilled cheese with peach mustard? I’m picky and I even liked the peach mustard with the sandwich! Honestly, this has to be one of the best grilled cheeses I’ve ever had.
Fantastic! With friends I tried: mushroom toast, fench toast, lavender earl grey croissant, everything croissant. All top notch! I then bought 4 other pastries to go for my car ride since it was all wonderful. I also met the baker/owner- he was a very nice guy and fun to talk with. I am so happy I got to stop by here on my travels. If you need a tie breaker: get the croissants.
Off of Delafield in Poughkeepsie in a newly constructed cool industrial space is Kelly’s Bakery. Everything is made in house. The baked goods and bread are incredibly tasty and you can tell the level of attention to detail that is placed in each item. The egg sandwich came on a brioche bun and topped with chicken sausage. Delicious- an elevated egg sandwich for sure. A spot on shakshuka was a generous portion and tasted even better with their delicious bread slices for dipping. The grilled cheese was perfection as well. Not kidding- it is exactly the kind of grilled cheese one dreams about!Nearly everything is sourced locally. The coffee was superb as well- Irving Roasters. Had a Boston cheesecake that was outstanding as well. The owners are incredibly gracious and kind!Be mindful of times- it closes at 230pm.Have to come early for the widest selection. 10/10 recommend! Will definitely come back to the super cool and delicious Kelly’s Bakery!
We had an exceptional time here. It was a girls day visiting my sister in college, was with my mom and sister and we silly enough walked in with Starbucks in our hand. The owner came up to us and wanted to challenge our Starbucks coffees, the server went through all the neat handcrafted coffees - including the Charcoal infused one which makes it taste extra rich. They were so good we threw away our Starbucks! The breakfast sandwiches are to die for, the bread was so fresh and made in-house im pretty sure. They had Shakshouka but it was sold out when i was there - my sister went back a few days later and got it and was obsessed. If you havent tried this place -- go now! Dont walk, run. They have beautiful views of the mountains & trees, gives you a true taste of Upstate NY. The owner was fabulous and so friendly. We will be back!!! Thank you for your exceptional customer service, you dont come around that too often!! 11/10. My favorite cafe in Upstate NY by farrrr.
This is the best bakery around. Oh their chocolate bobka is to die for. Every thing I have ordered has been top notch. You cant find a better bakery around. I have to stop in every time I go up to my daughters. ( which is at least 3-4 times a week) I am addicted to Kellys
Stopped in to Kelly’s first time to pick upSome baguettes for my restaurantCustomer service excellent and aboveSpace designed perfectlyBread is crusty and airy lite .,Best I had in this area for sure! Will definitely be back to try their otherSelections., Kelly’s knows what there doingI rarely write reviews., but needed to express theReal deal truth
So rude! I am a city of PK resident and was so excited that this bakery opened in our city. Sadly, it’s been a huge disappointment as the owner (i think) is so RUDE, ABRASIVE and at times downright abusive to his customers. I wish very much that this wasn’t the case and have gone multiple times thinking maybe he was having an off day but it’s simply not the case. He’s just mean and not fit to be in the service industry. You will see this is an issue if you look into the reviews as whenever someone leaves a review like this he leaves a bunch of his own to try to bury it. Be nicer!
If you are looking for a change in Poughkeepsie, Kelly’s Bakery has created a comfortable space (during a pandemic mind you!) that will have you return again & again for delectable breads (the baguette is perfection), scones, cookies (so fresh & delish) and the flakiest tastiest croissants (award winning prediction here!) I highly recommend their herbal tea ... either the lemon verbena or camomile soo good!! They serve sandwiches as well (I didn’t try) but the rest is #freakinyum!
Fresh Goods Fresh Attitudes!I usually don’t make reviews, however, I felt this approach was unnecessary. As I arrived with my friends, I went to prop my stuff down because the seats get crowded quickly. Nevertheless, one of the workers sped walked over to us and told us, in an aggressive manner, “We order before we sit.” Not, “Hey guys please place your orders first before sitting.” He said it in a demand and we were the subordinates. The reason I came to the restaurant is because I was planning on ordering; Im not a menacing child who hangs out at random restaurants. I stood in front of the register to place my order because I knew what I needed was simple and only one drink was behind the counter. Due to my incorrect location, he did not take my order and aggressively tapped the line-starting sign with his pencil. I put my order for one drink and he goes to the one side of the counter I was on ANYWAY. My friends were going to order but quickly changed their minds after and we left after I ordered my drink.
We came to Kelly’s shortly after it opened and fell in love with the owners, staff, and especially the food!! These guys know what they are doing. We were dropping off our son at The Culinary Institute of America and returned to get another dose of goodness and their warm hospitality. This summer we were in Maine and before heading back home to Florida, we planned a road trip to include a stop at Kelly’s. We actually called a couple of days ahead to reserve our favorites. We had lunch there and then took a bunch of pastries to go. Sooo delicious! Lunch included the Grilled Cheese, B.A.L.T, Mushroom Toast, and Chia Bowl, on location at the beautiful bakery and took every Cookie flavor, Chocolate Brioche, Lemon and Earl Grey Pastry, Banana Bread and one of their delicious scones for the road.We will be returning to drop our son off this fall and a trip to Kelly’s will be a top priority!
I can not impress upon anyone reading this how much you need to go and eat at Kellys. Im taking laminated dough, CROISSANTS! Ham and cheese, plain old, pain au chocolat, and the ALMOND CROISSANTS. Get 2, or maybe 5.... maybe buy every single one they have because holy cow are they the best youre likely to have in this area. I have been dying for a bakery like this that actually makes painstakingly beautiful laminated dough. They do everything they do super well. All the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Get there early for the freshness of the product and go there often!
Really great atmosphere in the shop. Ive visited multiple times, mostly for food pickup, and sometimes to do homework in the cafe. The mugs of coffee for sit-in dining are huge and yummy. The egg sandwiches are very gourmet-esque and reminiscent of fancy ones Ive had in NYC. Most of the staff are really nice and attentive, but the first time I came into the shop my boyfriend and I felt very weird vibes because we asked to eat outside and they were confused, like theyd never been asked that before. It was definitely odd but the vibes were good the next few times I visited. Ill probably chalk it up to the fact that they are a newer business?? Either way theyre super great and Ill continue to support this business.
I was literally driving by to have lunch with my parents and stumbled upon this place ! The building and flowers alone captured my attention.. they were closed so my interaction was brief but beautiful to say the least ... the sourdough cheese bread was absolutely phenomenal. The staff was beyond pleasant even at the end of their shift !! Thank you so much for being here, the world needs more bakeries for sure
Not only are the baked goods fantastic, but the savoury food is also delicious. My personal favorite is the Kellys Toast! I didnt know how much I needed nori and sesame on my avocado toast. The coffee is great to match everything else. Open for about a month now and I would say they got it. 🖤
A few things I like about this place in a nutshell:1. The decor is amazing.2. The staff and owners are very nice—real small town cafe shoppe feel.3. The food is excellent! Vegan optional, gluten free optional, Eco-friendly containers, healthy food with a comfort food taste!!They give you a Starbucks quality with a Panera feel.If you haven’t tried them yet I recommend it.Ps—Their breads sell out fast because they are that good, so again check them out to know what’s the what in the Hudson Valley.
Best pastries in Dutchess County hands down. Everything bagel croissants? Yup! Cinnamon rolls? You betcha! Your choice of savory or sweet scones? Absolutely! They also have some bangin avocado toast options and egg sandwiches on house-made bread and rolls. To wash it all down they have excellent coffee drinks with local beans and a variety of tea options, too.
Hands down the best bakery I have been to. Went with a few friends and sampled a wide variety of the bakerys offerings (olive bread, chocolate fig bread, BLAT sandwich, grilled cheese, coffee, muffins, cookies, babka, scones) and everything was phenomenal. My personal favorites were the green tea blueberry muffin and the pretzel chocolate chip cookie. The atmosphere is also stunning and small details from ceiling lamps to sink faucets have been meticulously thought out to create a modern, cozy, and peaceful environment. The staff is extremely friendly and professional.
Coffee was great but the front of the house cashier was incredibly rude. It was our first time & werent really sure what to order. We were trying to see the drink menu thats on the wall and she basically shood us to go stand elsewhere. Also we wanted to order food for lunch but she rushed us so fast that we werent even given the chance to see or ask what they had to offer. It was a sad first trip but definitely willing to go back for their coffee again.
Kellys Bakery is the most outstanding establishment in the Hudson Valley region. Not only do you get phenomenal product across the board, but the people are worth coming back for. When I come to Kellys (which is weekly) I feel like Im walking into their home which is provided with open arms and warm smiles. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check them out. :)
Many good things here...Coffee is excellent - as it should be. We tried some cookies and a few baked pastries. The croissant with pistachio and babka was really good. Mushroom toast was devoured. Shakshuka was ok: the portion is humongous for one; I would prefer half the size and the veggies inside cut smaller and a bit drier.
My friend brought me bread and pastries from Kelleys. All were very good. I went there 8 am Saturday morning and there were 3 people ahead of me and only 1 person working behind the counter. Its a VERY small distance from the door to the counter and the only way to really socially distance is to have 2 people inside. I waited about 5 minutes and could see it was going to take forever so I left. There were a couple people waiting outside the door. I may try going again on a different day and time. Would suggest at least 2 people working behind the counter to get the line going.
NOT FAMILY FRIENDLYNOT GOOD FOR DINE INYOU CAN BE SHOUTED AT AND INSULTEDDO NOT CARE ONCE YOU HAVE PAID FOR FOODIf you are any one with any self respect you will not visit this establishment. Because the review is not about a review of a bad behavior of an employee, which can be corrected, but someone related to the owner who can shout at you to get out , don’t raise your voice etc..We were asked to unseat in the middle of our meal to make seating available for another customer , unsure of the reason of bias.We left without eating, after having paid over $50 for the meal and tips. The aggressor never apologized or felt any remorse and kept on aggravating and escalated the situation.
We are very excited and beyond happy that the Poughkeepsie and surrounding neighborhoods have come to embrace us and enjoy all we have to offer at Kelly’s.We also would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all those that are cooperative with our limited counter space and working with us to keep all safe and healthy.I would also like to give an apology to anyone that feels any of us have been rude or abrupt. These are special times we are in. And cooperation and patience are greatly appreciated.Thank you
Excellent food, excellent people. Everything is priced a little high, but not so high that I dont stop there any chance I get. Their hours are my only disappointment... theyre usually not open when I leave for work and closed after I get off. Theres always Sunday though!

2022-05-17This place is incredible. The area is beautiful, the people are incredibly friendly and happy, the building is cute with huge garage doors to let in the beautiful spring air, and the list goes on. Great coffee, comfortable seating both indoor and out, and best of all- the bakery is fresh daily! The owner gifted us an entire jalapeño cheddar sourdough loaf on the way out at closing!! It was delicious.

2021-10-20Great bakery! A lot of fresh bread, baguettes and pastries. A lot of brunch options, good coffee. The whole atmosphere is nice. The line got a little long on Saturday morning, but we didn’t mind waiting. We got several things. The cheesecake was so tender and tasty! Almond croissants were great!

2022-02-19Kelly’s is the friendliest and most delicious place. Their menu is seasonal and so very thoughtful. (These photos are from summer.) the staff are so patient and attentive. They really take the time to answer any questions you have and make recommendations. It can get busy but I never feel rushed. I love Kelley’s :)

2022-03-14Overall, hubs and I had a very positive first visit. We had a very limited amount of time in a specific window, and many breakfast/brunch places are closed on Sundays or open at 11 or later. We arrived around 10:15 on a Sunday and were lucky to not find a line and to find a table for 2 easily. The café filled up considerably while we were there and after we left, there was a line out the door. All of the staff members were incredibly friendly and greeted us and offered helpful suggestions. I decided on the lox toast and hot caramel latte and hubs had regular coffee and BALT. I was surprised they served our coffee in to-go cups since we were dining in. The lox toast was phenomenal. The salmon was good quality and the herbed cream cheese paired perfectly. I just wished there was more. Hubs’ BALT was similarly tasty but could have benefited from more bacon and avocado. Both breads were the star. A side salad or even fries or something would have helped round out the plates. We ordered items to go (plain croissant, everything bagel croissant, chocolate croissant for our son, plus cheddar-jalapeño loaf). Since we were both half-satisfied, we ate our croissants. Husband said his croissant was delicious and I thought it was beautiful and flaky. I was not a fan of the everything bagel croissant. It appeared to be stuffed with mostly poppy and black sesame seeds, and I was missing the pops of salt, onion, and garlic. Also, the seeds seemed (to me) to be in a very rich butter or creamy substance, so eating the croissant meant taking mouthfuls of crumbly, unmelted butter, which was not pleasant. The delicacy of the croissant was lost in the filling. Overall the food was good, but a bit pricey. The breakfast items were well-made, but something else to round out the portions would make the meal seem less scant. We cut into the cheddar-jalapeño loaf later in the day and it did not disappoint. The area to order is right inside the front door, hence making it a bit difficult to get in and the coffee menu is off to the right so it’s a somewhat cramped set up. Overall, the breads here are wonderful and I would come back here in a heartbeat during off-hours to pick up bread, pastries, and coffee. I definitely would not bring my five-year-old here. It’s a lovely café and we enjoyed ourselves, but not a place I feel comfortable lingering once my food and coffees are done (and we finished well under the 90 minute limit noted on signs throughout the café).

2022-02-06Can’t say enough good things about this spot. The coffee is what brought me here and it never disappoints: their baristas genuinely care about their craft. The food is superb and always impressively presented. You literally cannot go wrong with any choice. The kitchen / bakery is always innovating and you’ll find something new almost every week. The only issue with Kelly’s is how crowded it can get after 10am but that’s a testament to its quality, not something to deter you. Definitely a place to stop in and try liters anything on the menu.

2021-10-14The artfully crafted coffee is amazing, but that dark chocolate flourless cake is the loveliest complement to the latte. The breakfast sandwich was fresh, real food and the ambiance and presentation of food is sublime. The staff could not be nicer and living close by is an irresistible temptation!
