Had my first visit today and was so lucky to be in Lisa’a hands. She worked magic with my thin mid length hair and transforming it in a stunning short stylish bob that is probably the best haircut I’ve ever had. She was amazing throughly and I’m overly happy with my look ❤️
I have been going to Jenna at Kentland for almost a year for my hair color. I always have an amazing experience. The staff are incredibly professional. Jenna is extremely talented. She knows exactly what I needed to get my very dark brown hair to shades of blonde without damaging my hair. Her method of coloring (balayage) looks natural, lasts for months and grows out naturally too! Shes the best colorist i have ever bee to. Shes also an all around great conversationalist. The studio is clean, well organized and I agree with the other reviewers that the prices are incredibly reasonable for the outstanding services Mennaland provides.
Jeffrey is amazing! ! have long hair and was looking for fullness with layers. He was very attentive ...and what a great cut! I would highly recommend Jeffrey and look forward to my next visit!

I love Kennaland! I don’t live in the neighborhood but I’m willing to take the subway to get my haircut here. Last time I went I asked Holly for a short wolf cut and she gave me exactly what I was picturing. Could not be more pleased!
Lisa is such a good listener! And isn’t that what excellent service is all about? Lisa dived right in, asking me questions whilst examining my hair’s texture, color, and health. I showed her some images of what I wanted—and I have to say, the final cut exceeded my expectations. The staff communicated fully and were kind and considerate. They followed protocols including a health screening questionnaire, hand sanitizer, masks, and goggles in order to keep themselves—and their clients safe. So glad to have found Lisa at Kennaland, a chic and groovy salon.
I have thick, course hair and no one has ever cut my layers like Amy Bradbury. She’s also as nice as can be and very fast. ❤️
I moved to Greenpoint a couple of months ago and after a complete disaster at home bleach session which left me looking like a My Little Pony I stopped into Kennaland for a rescue session. Leslie worked absolute magic on my hair and left me feeling gorgeous. Every experience I have there is professional, love the atmosphere and always feel like I get great value. Im hooked!

My experience at Kennaland was awesome. Julie was so easy to talk to and a pleasure to work with. As were the rest of the staff. Julie effortlessly gave me the haircut I’ve asked for at many other salons yet never seemed to get the same results. I was in desperate need for a haircut and lucked out with an appointment with Julie. who is not only a great listener, she is a great educator, too. Before I knew it, and without any anxiety whatsoever, the four inches I requested removed was on the floor. Julie then offered instruction about how to style my new do in the easiest and most effective way. The products she used, and Kennaland carries, are incredibly effective for my hair, which is a little fussy.Kenna was extremely generous in fitting me in. The product selection is both ethical and effective. Erik helped me check out easily and was lovely throughout.Kennaland is a very cool and lovely salon--and its also Mom-friendly. I loved my experience and I love my cut.

Kennaland itself is fantastic-- its a fun space with cool views and nice people, and they use quality products that make the entire studio smell SO GOOD. But my stylist Amy is the real gem here. Since I moved to NYC three years ago its been a struggle to find a stylist who actually listens, doesnt make me feel like Im just another head on a conveyor belt, and who understands my hairs texture and all its quirks. Amy gave me one of my absolute favorite haircuts ever, and shes just a dream of a stylist-- shes cool, shes fun to talk to, she takes her time, she asks questions and listens to your answers, she understands natural texture and how to work with it, and she made my hair look (and smell) AMAZING. Thanks so much, Amy!
Worth the $$! Everyone is very friendly and does a great job. I even got my husband going here after being unsatisfied with barber shop cuts. The whole team is very professional and experienced. We even travel from park slope to go here after moving out of the neighborhood, it’s that good!
Jeffrey is truly the best hairdresser I have ever found!! His attention to detail, focus and ability to truly shape your hair and face is amazing!!! I have now had two cuts with Jeffrey and he’s the only person I would trust with my hair! Highly recommend to anyone looking for talent and an amazing haircut! Ive been going to Jenna Viney for color for years, shes the best Ive found. Shes figured out a way to color your hair so it actually grows out nicely, Im never freaking out a month later for touch-ups, and I get consistent compliments for months!Ive also had my haircut by Amy a few times, and I also highly recommend her, she has great ideas and has done some successful significant style changes for me!Go see these ladies! The salon is also wonderful- safe and clean!
Really talented and friendly group of people who know what they’re doing. I got my hair cut by Valarie who did a really great job and was so much fun to talk to! I’ve had alopecia before so the way my hair dries is straighter in some places which causes it to look a bit uneven, and the salon was super accommodating when I asked to make some adjustments a few days later to help balance everything out. I highly recommend going to Kennaland and will definitely be coming back here for all my future haircuts.

I gave specific instructions to Leslie on how I’d like my bangs and she did exactly what I asked which quite often doesn’t happen with stylists. The front desk staff was very professional as well.
Ive always wanted to go blonde (I have black Asian hair) and was terrified of ending up with damaged, orange hair, so my initial consult with Valarie was incredibly encouraging. She explained how color would be lifted from my type of hair, and how shed approach the lightening process super carefully to make sure I didnt end up with breakage either.Valarie is so fun and an incredibly talented colorist- definitely recommend for those dark-haired girls eager to go lighter, or anyone who has a dream color in mind and wants an expert colorist to guide them through the process and suggestions with the best attitude and energy.I loved the results from my first session, I never thought I could get the color I wanted with my type of hair, and am obsessed with outcomes of the suggestions Valarie gave me (teasy lights and money pieces). So so excited to have a go-to colorist in the neighborhood, I will be back soon to go lighter and cant wait for future appointments now that I know how confident I can be in Valaries process!

Ive been going to Kennaland for a little while now and get my haircut by Lisa. I love Lisa! I typically ask for some sort of big change — like bangs, & bobs — and Lisa is always there to talk about my hair and how it might look on me. Shes and incredible stylist and I highly recommend her. The studio itself is really nice, very clean, and everyone is friendly. :)
I usually get my hair cut at Spoke and Weal in the city but I live in Greenpoint, and Kennaland was two blocks away. A friend had her hair cut there and liked it so I took a chance and tried it. I didn’t want to travel into the city unnecessarily.Lisa gave me the best haircut I’ve probably ever had. I wasn’t a perfect client and failed to bring a photo or even a clear idea of what I wanted, but Lisa listened, and we figured out a direction to go together. Everyone was friendly and kind. Masks were worn. I felt comfortable and safe. I will return in future.
I very rarely write reviews, but I had such a good experience at Kennaland that I have to write something! I hadnt gotten a haircut in almost a year, and it was an uneven, curly, unruly mess. I went to Julie after seeing good reviews and was hoping for a new, fun cut. She gave me a fabulous cut (with first-time bangs!) that was exactly what I wanted. Before we started we talked about my hair, my vision for the cut, and shared pictures back and forth to make sure she knew what I was looking for. Ive never had a hair stylist take so much time to get a sense of my hair and what I was looking for. I love my new hair so much that my mom just booked an appointment too! Thank you Kennaland and Julie!

After 6 months without a haircut, it was time to do something about the mess on top of my head. I wanted to preserve some of the length while doing something different and fresh, so I eschewed the barber and went to Kennaland with my fingers crossed. My stylist was Amy and she transformed my COVID-19 mane into something much more attractive for my Zoom calls. Very happy with the results!The salon was very clean and they have several safety measures in place so I felt very comfortable.
A warm, friendly atmosphere from the moment you are greeted to stepping out the door again with your new beautiful hair. Julie, my stylist had an amazing effortless abs understanding energy - she immediately understood what I wanted from my colour and even went to extra lengths to fix/update my fringe styling, show me little tips and tricks for easy maintenance and how to blow dry my hair in a particular way. She was also a great conversationalist and a really interesting person to boot! Highly recommend.
Great service and talented people! They dont rush you through either and I didnt have to wait at all. Nice to see a couple of pooches walking around too. Very happy with my mens hair cut. Great shape and Leslie understands curly hair really really well.
Finding a good Hairdresser is hard so when you find a good one you hold onto them! Julie is amazing, she really understand hair and truly adapts to you rather than trying to force things. My hair is fine but I have a lot so I never want layers but she has been phenomenal at getting my hair back into condition using a technique to remove just the ends which I have not seen before meaning I keep my length and what fullness I have. She is also a very genuine and warm person who makes you feel so welcome.The salon has adapted so well to the new ways of working, expanding into 2 rooms so cleaning can happen in between appointments and limiting customers. Their online booking is super convenient and by keeping a card on file means it’s a seamless process. I have found her product recommendations to be so helpful and not just a sales ploy. I go every 6 weeks now and my hair is amazing!
I always leave Kennaland taking a silly number of selfies. The whole experience leaves me feeling like the most gorgeous version of myself.

Jenna Viney does fantastic color. She has helped me through the unsightly transition from single process warm brown to my natural silver, grey and cool, dark brown, blending new with old without major dye jobs or new roots. The transition has been made far less painful, thanks to Jennas creative color solutions.
The Manger was nagging me the whole Time I was just trying to get my hair done plus i think they fired my favorite worker there she was very nice, understanding and always asking about my day she was the only reason i went there When I found out she wasnt working anymore I was devastated And the work they did on my hair wasnt even that good. Worst salon ever wouldn’t recommend !!!

I got my hair cut here TWO MONTHS AGO and the cut is still washing so gorgeously and effortlessly. I feel truly heard and understood by my stylist. Didn’t feel like any services were being pushed on me while I was in the chair, and generally felt seen and taken care of. Go here.

Love Kennaland. I have been seeing Jenna for a few years for all of my crazy hair color whims- including going pink for my wedding. Her color is amazing and grows out beautifully. On many occasions I have bee complimented on my color (which fades to light/blond highlights) many many months later. I recently had my hair cut by both amy and Julie and both were fab.
I got a fantastic haircut from Amy! I was a first time client and loved that Amy stepped away and asked if I was ok with pulling down my mask very briefly so she could see my face shape because I was considering going much shorter. I was really concerned about getting a cut that wouldn’t look right because of the mask and not being able to assess the right cut for me. Well she did a fantastic job!! Tons of space with social distancing. There were no other clients near me at all and I felt very safe getting a haircut during covid. I feel like Amy totally understood the look I was going for and also advised what would look best. Don’t think you could go wrong with Amy and Kennaland. Everyone that worked there was friendly and welcoming. No pretentiousness at all!

Was a new client at Kennaland this weekend and has a great experience! The studio was very clean and organized. Very friendly staff. Mostly impressed with customer service. After my color/cut (had gone 7months of root growth during COVID), I realized I needed a bit more highlights to blend w the root growth. They took me back a day later to add some more, free of charge. Loved the ladies - Lisa is awesome. Will be back in the fall.

ELLI is an artist with terrific eye for color and shapes that will suit you. Elli pay attention and see who you are and what will not only make you look your best, but also make you feel like yourself. Its a rare gift.
After my 15 years of living in NYC I have finally found the hair salon that I keep returning to every few months. I used to fear getting haircuts because they never understood my hair or my face shape and how to compliment it but AMY at Kennaland is literally a goddess. I will always only get my haircut here.

I have been going here to see Amy for years, and recently was able to go back in after the reopening from Covid. I have to say I was VERY impressed with the cleanliness and safe practices in place. The space is expanded so youre literally alone with your hairdresser in a wing of the salon. I was nervous, this was the first outing Id ventured to since the stay at home order was in place, but I felt so safe and comfortable. Amy has always been amazing, I wont see anyone else for my hair, but I have seen cut the others have done and never seen a bad one. Absolutely recommend making an appointment!
I recently got a horribly botched haircut (NOT at Kennaland) but made an appointment with Amy to see if she could salvage it. Not only did she completely fix the mess, she gave me legit the best haircut Ive ever gotten. I have super thick, very wavy hair and its a challenge to cut, but Amy instantly understood exactly what I wanted and how to get to that point. Amy is talented, personable, and I will 100% return!

Amys the best! I tried many different studios and stylists and I always tell them that I need a cut thats no styling needed yet they always cut it so that it wont look good unless I spend time styling it or putting products in my hair. Amy listens to my needs and will upfront tell me if the cut I want requires more than a towel dry. She will suggest something similar that works for me and always takes into account hair quality, texture and face shape.The studio itself is nice, cozy and they always offer a plethora of refreshments making you feel like youre at a friends house!
Jenna is my colorist and she’s fantastic. Not only am I really pleased with my color, but she’s also just a really fun, smart, and engaging person. My hair is very long, it grows very fast, and it has stubborn grays. Jenna works her magic and my hair is gorgeous. I highly recommend this salon, and Jenna in particular.

Was so happy to return to Kennaland and my amazing Julie. The salon has taken every precaution with regards to sanitizing and social distancing. You receive an email prior to appointment to confirm, day of you get text when they are ready for you and all payments are by card. The stations are now separated by glass partitions and they are spaced apart. I know that physically the place is different but it was lovely, felt as warm as always and the staff was wonderful. If you are in need of a rockstar to cut or color, highly recommend Julie. She takes the time to get to know what you truly are looking for in terms of a look. Then it’s 10x better than you expected.
Amy cuts my hair and she nails it every time. Her relaxed, friendly-but-no-pressure energy and attitude are also so, so appreciated, whether or not youre feeling talkative she meets you where youre at. I always feel like Im in good hands, everything is quick and efficient, especially now in coronatimes. The salons new setup for phase 3 reopening is really impressive, with floor-to-ceiling glass barriers between the chairs. Also, the products they use and sell there have totally converted me for their efficacy and natural fragrance profile (no headache-inducing artificial perfumes/fragrances). Love love love, so happy theyre still here.
I’ve gone to Kennaland for 3 cuts in the past year and don’t ever want to go to another salon. The first haircut was a major one (donated 15 inches) and Amy, head stylist, totally nailed my pixie cut. The other two visits were for trims to ensure it grew out right and I’ve loved the look every time.
Jenna is THE BEST colorist Ive ever found, her color is super natural looking, grows out invisibly and is a total pro. You just found the best colorist in NYC, your welcome!
I got a haircut here in May 2018, and Im still outgrowing the damage from the haircut I received. The stylist used super dull shears to thin my hair, which resulted in major split ends and not to mention, extreme pain throughout the cut! I have very coarse and thick hair and made sure to call ahead of time to let the stylist know to leave a buffer between her next client. The cut/blowout took longer than expected, the stylist made passive aggressive comments about how much hair I had, and I was left super displeased after paying over $150 for a sub-standard haircut. I would never recommend this salon to anyone looking for a professional or pleasant experience.
The best hair experience and outcome I’ve had since moving to NYC. Thank you Lisa!!! With all of the options for hair salons, it’s tricky to find the right one. But I’ve found it and will continue to go back to Lisa for the rest of time. It was the most comfortable, relaxing and personal environment (which I find so important). Plus the best outcome I’ve ever had!!! And the price point was great, no unexpected add on charges that I’ve gotten from other places. Expectations were blown away! With CoVid altering salon access for months, I developed a Cruella DeVille hair color (due to lack of professional color). Since it was really time to address this, I got a recommendation & decided to try Kennaland. Lucky for me!I rarely write Google reviews, but feel positively compelled since I had such a great 5-star experience!!!My colorist, Nina was truly exceptional: professional, expert, thorough (discussion for color goals & then w/her vigilant follow through), delightful, fully CoVid compliant, & the results were/are spectacular!Additionally, Kennaland was totally clean: constantly sanitized (for CoVid) by staff & had a wonderful “vibe”. Great space, too...Yes, (even w/my mask): I’ll definitely return &MOST certainly will ask for an appointment w/Nina! CoVid may have changed my social plans entirely, but @ least my hair looks FAB when I’m on “Zoom”...! Thank you, Nina: you are amazing!!! So, is Kennaland.
Kennaland is just an absolute diamond of a find. I started going here 3 or 4 years ago, and have went through three different hair colors (one of which was a fire ombré so they know their fashion colors too, Jenna CRUSHED it) and a messy color correction on my stubborn hair that had me in the chair for eight hours to ensure that my hair would survive AND look close to my end goal. Everyone that works here is absolute top notch talent, and top notch people, and they also happen to have EXCELLENT music taste. I’ve seen the owner hang out and interact with the customers (a feat not so easy I’d imagine when you have another studio in London) which is always heartwarming to see.Even during such a chaotic time in the world where safety is an ever growing concern, I never once felt iffy in the salon. All of the stations are spread out, glass barriers, and mandatory masks. I saw every stylist consistently wash their hands, thoroughly sanitize each station (if only my apartment was that clean...) and truly ensure the safety of the environment, the employees, and their clients.Not only that but I have never had such attention to detail at any other salon. They take the time to get to know your hair and will never rush through any step of the process. They took my hair from espresso brown to blonde in just two sittings. Without frying my hair, at all (shoutout to Julie, my personal savior and wonderful goddess!). They also will correct anything you’re not 200% thrilled with, which I think is pretty darn awesome of them. I honestly don’t have enough praise for this salon. I have never once felt like a customer, I’ve only ever felt like family there.Moral of the story is, stop reading my novel of a review and book an appointment here, I have never felt so confident as I do walking out of there. Your hair deserves as good of a home as they provide.

I’ve had my hair cut by Davey a few times over the years and he’s incredibly talented, but he wasn’t available for the time I wanted to come in so Shandi suggested I try Amy. I’m so glad I did! Ive been going to Kennaland for years. In fact I was a client at Kennaland in London and was ecstatic when I found they had moved to NYC. Kenna is a brilliant stylist and always charming, Amy is also a great stylist, Shandi who manages the studio a great host. I recently changed colorists after mine moved out of state and just had my color done by Jenna. I cant tell you how much I love it! It blows my mind its that good. Today I had two instances where random people on the street stopped to tell me how great my color was! This is a really cool spot and when you walk in you feel like youre hanging with friends! Cant recommend it enough.

I LOVE my hair. Jehnna Foster is a brilliant colorist and stylist. She has impeccable judgement on just how blonde to make my highlights. Her genius breathes warmth into my greys and takes me back a decade without looking like I am pretending.Also props to Kennaland for creating a covid safe zone without sacrificing personality. There was more than enough space for Jehnna and another stylist to work without anyone feeling in the least uncomfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and disinfected and I didn’t experience a moment of anxiety.For Manhattan peeps who hesitate to take the subway, Kennaland is four blocks from the Greenpoint ferry stop. The ride across the River was only 10-15 minutes and there are Citibike stations at both ends.Thank you Jehnna, Kennaland, and NY Waterway for a major upgrade to my life!

Jenna is a genius. Gave me beautiful beachy highlights which is exactly what I wanted and for some reason very hard to find. On top of expert color, the studio itself is awesome. Not stuffy at all like most salons and they are accommodating for whatever you need to do (I’ve had visits where I sit and drink rose and visits where I worked from my laptop - and both were great and exactly what I needed).
I have been going to Kennaland since it opened and I love it. You walk in and immediately feel at home. Whether you want to chill and do some work or chat and have a laugh (and a glass of wine) Kennaland get it right. My hair has never looked better too! A hair studio that puts their clients first. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Loved my haircut with Julie in June. Just booked an appointment for a fall cut. She gave me exactly what I was looking for -- even though I had trouble articulating what that was! Great vibe and nice people.
Kennaland is not only an awesome place to get your haircut its also just kind of a cool place to hang out. Kenna himself Gets It, hes not going to give you a bad haircut, period. Daveys awesome too, and really just the whole crew seems to be on it.
Amy did my wedding hair about three years ago. At the time, bc of everything going on on your wedding day, I didnt realize just how terrible and tight she curled everything. She kept telling me it will fall bc of the heat/humidity. But NOPE. Not only did I spent over $700 with the trial, and for her to come to my house and do my hair, my mothers and one of my friends (and tip!!) , but to this day, I cringe every time I look at my wedding photos. I wish I had just gone to Amika or Drybar.
Lisa does the BEST colour I’ve had in years. Great at talking through options and the end result is better than I could possibly have expected.
Sadly my experience was not at all what I had hoped for. I went there for a birthday color fix & enhance and she completely ruined my hair by adding very light blonde - whitish highlights on the top and failing to cover my roots. So now I have three different layers of uncoordinated colors at my root and a horrible overall overall color.
Holy expensive. I dont think the cut quality is worth the price. I wasnt happy with my hair - weird tiny layers. Happily tho, I found a new stylist (not in Gpoint) and shes fixed me up.
Jeffrey was relaxed, kind, knowledgeable and gave me a great cut. It also didnt take half a day, which I was very grateful for.
Fabulous! Everyone was super nice and I love the haircut Jennah gave me. Thy were super accommodating to my baby and stroller. Will be back - what a neighborhood gem!

Love Kennaland and love Julie more. So happy that I was able to once again enjoy an afternoon at my favorite hair salon. The staff here is wonderful - they take every precaution - sanitizing, socially distancing, etc. While the salon itself has physically changed to accommodate our new normal, it’s only gotten better - there are more stations & glass partitions have been added between all of them. Just felt really great to be back. I live in Manhattan and travel to Greenpoint as Julie is a rockstar with cuts and color. She takes the time to get to know what you want and then it’s 10x better than you expected.

2022-02-13I had a great hair cut appointment with Jeffrey! He was super fun to talk to during the appointment and was receptive about the kind of cut I wanted. Jeffrey really took the time to plan, section, and add extra detail and texture to my hair. It was clear he cares about his craft and his client’s feedback. I also really liked the salon and the products used in my hair. Looking forward to a shape up!

2022-03-07This was my second cut at Kennaland. I love it. Val was great, made me feel welcome and relaxed. She took out a ton of weight (which I really needed done!) before cutting. My first cut here with Lisa the year prior was also good! The place is on the 2nd floor, so removed from the bustle of the street. It feels fancy, but down to earth, if that makes sense. Before Kenna I would go to Rudys on W29th St in the city (which I loved). Kenna on the whole feels more polished than Rudys but still accessible to a sporty soul. Thank you Val + Kenna team!

2022-02-16I had an amazing experience at Kennaland. The fit-out is extremely cool, the staff are incredibly friendly and they use only the best products. I had an amazing haircut with Valarie who gave me no shade for cutting my own bangs and fixed them to perfection. She also gave me some great tips for other places to visit in the area!

2022-04-06The salon envelopes you in an ego-less warmth that only Greenpoint can provide. The front desk team has helped me schedule and reschedule (and reschedule again) and always makes me feel welcome. Kennaland is quiet, peaceful, inviting and reserved.The stylists ooze a cool confidence and the result of their work is demonstrative of the dedication to their art. Amy gives a tremendous cut; a feat as she has had to navigate her sheers through my wild and thick, brown-girl waves, which she executes perfectly. And Jenna is a master of color. Both have helped me own a look that is suitable to my lifestyle and personality.10/10 for Kennaland. Thanks for doing what you do!

2022-07-22I cant say enough great things about Kennaland!! I got my hair done by Amy for my rehearsal dinner and wedding and I was so so happy!! Amy understood exactly what I wanted. Then I got a big chop done by Julie and I have gone short a few times but this is my absolute favorite cut!!

2022-05-05I had the best color since I moved to NYC 10 years ago with Natalie. I have tried so many salons, and she is the first person who really listened and gave me exactly what I wanted! I have blond highlights + lowlights with foil + balayage. It felt truly custom and suits me perfectly. My cut with Kenna was also awesome - previous cuts with Amy have been great too. Overall I love the unpretentious but cool vibe here and could not recommend more highly

2022-06-15I can’t say enough good things about this salon and everyone who works there. I came in with my hair ruined, unevenly bleached, an orange mess, and now (after a few hours of expert and diligent work on their behalf), it truly looks the best it’s ever looked. Natalie is a miracle worker who was so patient, so knowledgeable, and so kind, and everyone else who worked there was just lovely and so generous with their time and energy as well. This’ll be my go-to salon from now on, hands down.

2021-10-25Kennaland is the absolute best. Lisa is my go-to for blonde highlights, cutting and styling. Each time I go, I switch up my look a bit and she always gets my vision. She, as well as everyone else on staff, are so lovely and kind. Everyone makes you feel so welcome. The space itself is also cool and relaxed— minimalist, industrial vibe, great music too. Always excited to make my next appointment here.
