Key Food Supermarkets in other cities:
This place is good but the staffs are very rude. This is our go to place for grocery as it is convenient for us. But will never go back there again. We went there today to buy water, we were supposed to buy 1 gallon water which we always do, but unfortunately they dont have stocks. We opted to buy 2 packs of water (containing 24pcs each.) We went to the register and the cashier told us you can only buy 1. There was a sign in front the counter saying limit 2 packs per customer. But the very rude and aggressive cashier, yelled and said, YOU DIDNT BOUGHT MUCH ON THIS STORE SO YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO BUY 1 PACK! Then she noticed I was carrying an empty water gallon container, she then touched my container and keeps on saying they dont have stocks which I told her I knew it already thats why were buying the packs only. I told her that there was a clear sign in front of the counter that each customer can buy 2 packs of water. I wont be greedy if they would only allow 1 pack per customer, I will understand considering lots of people are panic buying, but the audacity of that staff to tell me that that rule doesnt apply to us because we only bought water, breads, and 2 packs of ground pork is not enough and we should buy more so that we can get 2 packs of water is overboard. She also speaks Spanish (which btw we cant understand) in a very rude manner while everyone else understood what shes saying and purposely embarrassed us to other customers. We didnt do any panic buying, we are buying basic stuffs. If you do have that protocol in your store that we should reach a minimum order before purchasing water, please be clear on that.
I went to this supermarket tonite and at the entrance door I was asked to literally empty my whole handbag and checked it in .. I explained to the doorman that I’m carrying my handbag and my personal stuffs such as my wallet , phone , keys , headphones etc , is not like my handbag was huge or anything but this man was just so rude and pretty much just told me that i need to check in my bag anyways .. I requested to speak with the manager named Jesus Martinez but conveniently he wasn’t there .. if you plan go to this supermarket make sure you bring the smallest purse or handbag you have , otherwise you will prob have an awful experience like the one I just experienced .. this doorman has ZERO customer service skills, he even told me to go and complaint to the supermarket OWNERS ..
Every time I go here, I can find most of what I need which is the only good part; the service and the attitudes of the employees is so bad! 90% of the women and 50% of the men that work here are extremely rude! Its disgusting. From throwing my items almost breaking them, no hello, no thank you, no words exchanged, attitude & refusing to take you if you have 12 items in the 10 items or less aisle. They are also selective to who they offer delivery to if you spend over $50. You have to be older and being spanish speaking helps your chances. Ive had to carry half, then come back for the rest. With a bad back. Horrible customer service & no training. So rude. I only go here if I have to. I dread going here and I hate giving them business.
Try to go before 5 pm or after 9 pm. Good variety of items, produce and meat. Can always get the staples and their prices are average or slightly above. But some of the checkout people seem rude; they dont say hello or even look at you, especially if you dont speak Spanish. Maybe English is not their native tongue so they are less comfortable speaking English, but its really not hard to learn a few pleasantries in another language. They need more baggers, especially now that people have to bring their own bags and the checkout girls cant communicate.
Always has been awful and little has changed. I have seen lots of rancid food there and they are famous for selling spoiled meat. They close at 1AM instead of remaining 24 hours like they had been for the past decade. This seems rlespecially cruel considering how many of their customers work late night shifts. Recently, they have started price gouging and have been prosecuted by the State of NY. Only lovers would use a pandemic to mistreat their customers. Nice going Key Food.
This store could be great, but is poorly managed. Never, ever, buy anything frozen. I have purchased things that when unpacked appear to have been thawed and refrozen. When I took it back it was always a story, and I got my money back. But the point is, this should not happen every time you buy something frozen. I bought Jamaican Patties (I know..) and when opened they were frozen together and had mold on them..and with 9 months left on the expiration date. If you really pay attention you can see the cardboard packages are warped, a sure sign the product has melted. If you shake plastic packaged frozen corn, peas, beans, it is one big lump. Frozen vegetables should be loose in the package. You buy ice cream and when you open it all the chocolate chunks or caramel has melted into a grey looking substance. Again, the product thawed. Its absolutely pathetic that this store is allowed to even operate with this reckless disregard for food safety. But, its probably because the stock personnel have more time to gossip and chase the chicas around then they have to put things away. Watch your back when these clowns are stocking the shelves and running around with their hand trucks. I have shopped here since 2014 as it is convenient and it has gone from marginal, when it was Food City, to okay now that Key Food has taken it over. It looks like they are trying to remodel, but poor management and knucklehead stock boys will continue to drive them to ruin. They do have a good selection of items which is why I give it two stars, but the fact that you cant trust their frozen food is a big problem. Almost as big as the fact that they just dont seem care...
I bought over 250$ worth of goods here, and most of the things expired the same week. I lost the receipt since almost no one returns food or not as common. I spoke to the manager and she wasnt very helpful. also along side a staff in their was actually not as bright saying you could eat meat from over a year old if you keep in the fridge and avoid the date of expiration. No help! Avoid shopping here.
I wont be returning I spent $136 and went to exchange a pack of cookies that I had previously purchased that was open when I got to the house, apparently I took to long to bring it back 3weeks so the lady at the CS refused to exchange it you should of called I was told...Not Again.
Everything is overpriced, produce is disgusting, and male employees kept staring at my daughter and said very explicit things about her in Spanish. If you have a daughter from age 9-16, dont let them go to that store alone. My 15 year old daughter was grabbed by a male employee last year, by her bra strap. He accused of her of shoplifting. She had a receipt for one yogurt she bought and he threatened to call the cops.
This supermarket has poor customer service, the cashiers do not want to help you or pack, before you could accumulate points for your purchases now they do not offer any incentive for buying 400 usd 500 you do not accumulate points. As in other supermarkets in the area that do have this type of incentive.
Thank you very much to key food quie. I donate almost 200 cakes in addition to ham, salami cheeses and bottles of water. Thanks to MG SR JESUS AND MR EDDI MANAGER OF DELICATESSEN that great gesture of humanity sso was today 5 of. May 2020 in the midst of this crisisAnd the most beautiful thing about these people was that we went to set prices and Mr. Eddi and Mr. Jesus came out to donate things THOUSAND THANKS FOR MAKING HAPPY TO MANY PEOPLE WHO ALTHOUGH THEY DONT BELIEVE IT DOESNT REACH THEM TO EAT HERE NY 💓
I have always made my purchase is good and in normal times they have a good assortmentToday I was making line at 6:45 am one to two customers entered the door at 7:45 am, I do not know why the man at the door let 10 customers pass including me at the same time which caused anguish among ourselves colliding us at trying to keep a prudent distance, which was NOT possible from that moment on, many people began to be seen in all the departments.Social Distance is not savedPlease have discipline in this we all want to go shopping and not get cold outside but not at the cost of our and health

2022-06-25Lot of variety and quality one can have. Price is moderate. Product quality is standard. Most of the products are within budget range. Allow lots of government authorized package card. Overall good.

2022-06-17This place is ok. they improve a lot. But the Dominican guy that is in the cold cuts section. Has no idea of what is good costumer service, he is really mean, unprofessional and is slower than a turtle. He shouldn’t be in the counter. He should be in the basement

2022-07-03The place has almost everything I need, what I don’t like is the lack of cashiers, most times there’s only 1, there are 2 self serve counters, being a senior citizen I am not good at using it.i wish the store carry more Asian condiments, noodles, sauces!!!

2021-07-16I prefer your shop than the one along 90th St near the subway station because your store is way cleaner & more organized & equipped with self check out counter. Likewise, your staff are friendlier unlike the other store. The only thing is that I hope you offer more variety of breads because I noticed you do not sell the same handmade breads (padinha & bagels) which are really good & affordable (3 for $1 for the bagels) & only sold on your other store. Other than that, I like to shop here but I cannot on a regular basis because it is quite far from my place but I do drop by here when opportunity allows.
