Kimpton Muse Hotel in New York
This review is on principle. I have stayed at the muse a ton of times prior to Covid. There was a full mini bar, snacks, waters etc. I called down to the front desk for water, where I was then told that there was not a bottle of water in this whole hotel that I could pay for or have. THIS IS A HOTEL. Water is a BASIC item. This hotel is 400-+ per night and you can’t even stock water bottles for your guests to purchase? That’s insane. Will be finding another midtown HOTEL.
We patronize Kimpton because we travel often with our dogs and appreciate their pet friendliness so much that we also stay when our dogs are not traveling. We have had good experiences at Kimptons. We were super happy with the Kimpton Muse. First of all, the rooms are large, and the bathroom is full size with a large vanity and big shower. Those features are rare at this price point in a popular big-city destination. Everything was clean and in great working order, and the bed was super comfy. I almost subtracted half a star for no coffee service in the lobby, but they do have free wine every evening, and it’s good wine. The hotel is right in the middle of everything, walking distance to theaters, etc. We also found the Mexican place next door to be fun, and their food and drinks were great.
What an amazing place! We were upgraded to a suite! A living room and bedroom in NYC! Just awesome! They valet park your car for you, which always works in NYC. So close to the center of Time Square and restaurant row! The employees have all been so friendly and helpful. We were on the 18th floor with a view of the city. We wish the Muse Bar was open but were not surprised with the lack of employees in the US. They stored our luggage until our room was ready so we could walk around the city and did not have to wait for our room. Just a really great and friendly place! So happy we chose here! Please like the review if you found it helpful.
The stay here was decent but they charged me for an extra night. Ive called 7x and been hung up on 4x. I was able to talk to two ppl at the front desk that said I would be refunded but that has yet to happen. I spoke with Daniel and Joseph. Daniel said the accounting ppl would contact me but no one has. I called the next day and spoke with Joseph, the front desk manager, and he said he would credit my credit card. I asked for an email confirmation on the credit but Im still waiting....Its amazing that a mistake in the opposite direction never happens. Theyre quick to swipe your card and take your money, but when they owe you, they take forever to make it right. BRUTAL!!!
Great hotel and service with only minor sticking points. The noise from the hallways travels through the doors easily. If you are near the elevator, youll hear everything. Also, depending on what youre in the city for, crossing through Times Square repeatedly can be an event.
Nice decor, very pricey for what you get though.Location is nice of you want to be VERY close to Times Square and walking distance to many restaurants.Only 2 stars because of the value for what you get, and they lost my laundry (found it after we left and shipping back), and the AC unit was making awful noises and had to call them twice to get someone to fix it. We lost a few nights sleep because of it…I will not be returning to this hotel.
Great Location and Outstanding Service!!!We just returned from our vacation to NYC. I took my friend & her daughters to NYC. They have never been and had an extensive list of sightseeing. The Kimpton Muse is in an incredible location. The hotel is located in the heart of Times Square & the Broadway District. We were able to walk to so many landmarks. We want to thank the amazing staff Joseph, Dan, Wilson & Barbara! They were so friendly, and welcoming and offered so many suggestions of places to visit and restaurants to explore. Our accommodations were perfect! The hotel has a daily wine event from 5pm-6pm, helping to set the mood for our evenings out. We enjoyed 2 Broadway shows and got to see the New York Knicks beat the Toronto Raptors. A few of the many things we were able to check off the list!Overall we had an AMAZING time! We are so grateful for the time spent and the memories we will cherish! If you ever plan to visit NYC, The Kimpton Muse is the place to stay!
I must say the that I love staying in Kimpton hotels because of the consistency of class. Though some are better than other the Muse is among the better ones. The lobby is nice and spacious and like most NY hotel rooms are small but my room room gave me everything I need and when I got used to it didn’t really feel small at all lol. Modern, Spicy and wit a huge TV. Only thing that woulda set it off was a tub in addition lol. There wer some cool designer touches for the closet wallpaper that made it even more fly. I would stay here again.
We were checked into a room next to another high-rise and loud exhaust form nearby restaurants and businesses. The food smell from there and especially the noise can be heard through the poorly insulated window all night. When calling the reception about that, an unaccommodating receptionist claimed that all their rooms were without view, which was not not true. We were looking forward to a nice getaway in a high end hotel and were disappointed.
I travel often and was excited to stay here due to the great reviews and location. The location is great but the front desk staff aren’t very kind. We walked into the hotel to make a reservation and were told me had to do it online…..okay. So we went back to our car and booked a room on our phone and then walked in and checked in at 10pm our first night and booked two nights. During our stay I spoke with the front desk 3-4 times requesting more towels, bathroom soaps, and questions about parking our car. Every interaction I had with them, they were short with me and made me feel like I was bothering them. Now - the bellhop men were very kind and accommodating. Room was spacious, clean, modern, and the bed was very comfortable. On our last day, we were our and about and I called the front desk 3 times before someone finally picked up the phone (over a 45 minute time frame). I asked for a later checkout and they told me they “met their max late check out availability for the day.” This was frustrating because I called 2 times previously that morning and no one answered the phone. I understand many hotels are short staffed, but after paying $900 to stay there for 2 nights, I would expect the front desk to be kinder. After they told me they met their max late check out availability, I kindly asked the lady for at least 30 minutes more of time (check out at 12:30p instead of Noon) and she agreed. Like I said, location and bellhop men were great, but we won’t be staying here again. Oh, they are dog friendly. Which was great because we have a 10lb dog with us.
Have stayed at this property twice now. Its my go-to when Im in the city. Great location. Excellent customer service and staff. They greet me with a smile and remember my name each time I arrive. My room is ready or nearly done when I get there and its a seamless visit.Cant get any better.
IHG has ruined the Kimpton brand, none of the usual amenities are available at Muse, while other Kimptons in NYC and else where find a way, even with covid precautions. The cleaning staff at Muse are friendly, helpful and great. The desk staff, when you could find someone, were no help at all. Dressing an old hotel with some Kimpton-esque furnishing and wallpaper is all theyve done with Muse. If you are going to spend the money, stay somewhere else.
Just had a really great experience at this hotel. We were in a bind bc the hotel we originally booked was very disappointing, uncomfortable, broken AC and more. We called Muse and they were able to book us as a walk in for the rest of our trip. No hassle, no problems, clean room, good AC. Very nice bathroom, water pressure, hot water. Nice sized room. Very friendly staff. Perfect location for a walkable theatre and/or dining focused visit. Easy access to subway lines. Highly Recommend.
Stayed at The Muse for 5 days. Really special place, not just another hotel that looks like all the rest, but instead a stylish room, everything in working order and shipshape. Super comfortable bed with selection of pillows. Great location 1/2 block from Times Sq. Room was quiet except when the ice cream vendor parked his cart on the same street and we could hear the annoying electronic versions of Pop Goes the Weasel and the like that played over and over. Not too loud. Front desk staff super helpful and welcoming. Really and outstanding visit to NYC, absolutely recommended!
Stayed here for two nights in August. The location was perfect within walkable distance of many many NYC attractions.Check in was swift and the room was very very clean. The reception staff were friendly and kind enough to provide room with a view on a higher floor. The staff were nice and helped in getting Taxi’s.Shall recommend this hotel for a stay in NYC.
This boutique hotel was very posh! It was clean, quiet! The staff was super helpful and very welcoming!!! The room was small but a half decent view! I must share that the craziest thing that happened that I actually fell in love with… when I went to take a shower, I turned the knob all the way around not realizing it was for water pressure and not temperature, and when the water came out it let loose like Dunns River Falls in Jamaica 🇯🇲!!! It knocked me back a little, like I was hit with water from a fire hose or a SUPERHUGE waterfall!!!!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂 I say all that to say, THE WATER PRESSURE IS AMAZING!!!!! It’s the first time I have ever seen water pressure that strong. Ever!!! I really want to know how they did that so I can recreate that in my home!!! 🤷🏽♀️I will definitely stay here again!
Superb is an understatement. Not only is this hotel close to Times Square (literally a stones throw or less), it also has superb staff and the rooms are superior. I stayed in room 815 which was an inside room (not a street side) and hence was perfectly quite. It is very spacious with a king size bed, large tv, sitting desk, dresser with fridge, quality toiletries and even had a portable heater if I wanted. These rooms are also air conditioned and YOU have the controls for the temperature - not the hotel, like some other high rise hotels (Crown Plaza for example). The rooms were clean, no damage insight, and it had a rainfall shower but no tub, which I prefer. I also believe they have a Gym, though I did not use it this time as I was already exercising by running the marathon in NYC. I did not get a chance to access the bar/food area this time because of COVID limitations, but the lobby is perfectly clean, the door security is welcoming and the lobby staff (including managers) are the best! Not only are they friendly, but they have gone above and beyond to help me. I had trouble with a reservation that was cancelled at another hotel and the Kimpton was able to accommodate me and work with the IHG rewards team to secure my night with very little trouble. I have stayed there in 2019 and in 2021, and I plan on staying there again when in New York.
Positive: The staff was amazing! They had great suggestions on where to go and to make us feel comfortable in the big city. The location was awesome!! The suite was also very well maintained and beautiful. All in all, would stay here again if visiting NYC. Negative: No complaints.
The Muse is one of my favorite hotels. Theyve always treated me well with exceptional customer service. Located in the heart of Times Square so the area can be crowded and at times some questionable characters are walking about but the hotel was a safe haven and the rooms are nice sized to spacious. Thanks Muse team
Great stylist modern hotel with good rooms. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. I loved this place, I think id prefer the muse over the w or Marriott, both of which are fantastic hotels, but Id say the best value / experience by far, at least when I booked. Either way you wont be disappointed with your stay at the muse, I certainly wasnt!
The staff here is very special!! They make you feel like a rockstar. Mostly we dealt with Daniel and Joseph but truly, the whole team was lovely. I wish i could name them all.We loved the beds, the pillows and the crisp white sheets. In our bathroom shower there were 2 shower heads and the water was instantly hot!! Our view from the patio was lovely and even though we were in NYC in the summertime, we found ourselves outside reminiscing about our day on the balcony table. Thank you for making our time so wonderful Muse!!! We will back to see you.
This hotel was the perfect location, our room was spotlessly clean, and the staff couldnt have been more helpful. I would definitely stay here again. Daniel at the front desk was most impressive having independently made an impression on all 3 parties who gathered here for Bruce on Broadway.
Stayed here with a friend and found the rooms fantastic, fashionable, comfortable, and very clean. The bathroom was a bit small but thats expected in NYC especially this close to Times Square. And they let us bring my cat for non extra fee, which was fantastic! The only real downside was parking - the garage location isnt clear and we had to call the front desk and ask, especially after we saw the block was blocked with a metal gate. We were told to move it ourselves. We ultimately had to ask a stranger to help. Just to get to the hotel.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights last week. The staff could not have been more pleasant and accommodating, all of our requests were met without a problem. There are coffee makers and pods available upon request. Very quiet and comfortable, although right off of Times Square. Overall we were very well taken care of and will definitely repeat next time!
The Muse is truly the perfect NYC hotel! My spouse and I just got back from a very short staycation at The Muse and we had a wonderful time. Our original room was taken (but maybe that was a good thing), because they not only gave us a generous discount on the upgrade fee, they also sent up a bottle of wine, a cheese platter, and an apologetic note (Thanks, Steven!)..Our new room was huge, comfortable, quiet, and very clean!- Also, the balcony was amazing! I am very careful in choosing hotels and The Muse really makes me comfortable- the employees are extremely helpful and kind (Especially-Daniel,Steven,Joanna and Security!)..We will definitely be back soon!
Excellent hotel, centrally located, with nice clean amenities and a really comfortable bed. The shower is especially a highlight: its a rain shower with super high water pressure - felt like getting a massage! The staff was very courteous as well. Overall would definitely stay here again! The only negative was the bar in the lobby was not open due to COVID, unfortunately.
Hotel- Kimpton Muse (NYC)Date- 23july – 25july 2020 (2 nights)Overall: Excellent. A stylish boutique hotel with an amazing staff.Accommodations- Excellent. I was assigned an ‘Executive King Suite’ on the top floor, which was very nice. The room was spacious, clean, & quiet, something not always so easily found when staying so close to Times Square. Decorative pillows, the minibar, the notepad & pencil, and any other high touch items were removed due to the pandemic.IHG Rewards Club Recognition- Excellent. Upon check in I was thanked for my loyalty and given amenity points. My room was upgraded.Staff- Excellent. The staff makes the hotel. I come to this hotel because of the attention, care, and genuine enthusiasm of the staff members. Year after year, when I do, I know that staff members like Daniel & Angel will do their best to take care of me, my spouse, and even my pet. I was impressed when doorman Wilson was even able to identify my cat’s uncommon species. I can’t say enough good things about them. Thank you, front desk!Housekeeping- Very good. At first glance, the room seemed immaculate. However, old candy wrappers left under the sofa did end up in my pet’s mouth, which could have easily led to an emergency. The carpet was clean otherwise, and the bathroom was sparkling clean, better than most hotels I’ve stayed at in the area. Although housekeeping during the stay is discontinued during the pandemic, the hotel checked with me my second day to ensure I had all the supplies I might need. Towels and washcloths, soaps & shampoos, etc. were all provided in adequate supply for the length of my stay.Pool/Gym- Not evaluated.Breakfast/Meal Options- ALL food and beverage service is suspended. Since congregating in the lobby is prohibited, the wine hour was suspended, but the hotel front desk did provide us with two small bottles of wine to consume in our room. Morning coffee service was unavailable; so, plan to leave the hotel to gather any food or beverage you may want.Laundry- Not evaluated.Computer/Printer/WiFi- Excellent. WiFi was strong throughout the hotel, and streaming was smooth.Property Appearance- Excellent. The scaffolding in the front is decorated, and the lobby is clean and attractive. The hallways and elevators were clean and appealing.Other- Valet Parking is suspended during the pandemic. Parking at a neighboring garage is suggested and the $35 daily fee is added to the bill, instead of having to pay the garage directly.
Positive: The location was great, close to everything. Negative: The shower had black mold all over it. We killed a giant cockroach in the bathroom(as big as a credit card). The light fixtures had blown out bulbs, only one was fully functional. The restaurant and bar were closed,HUGE disappointment.
Positive: Absolutely great staff and service. Location. Renovated rooms, carpet erc but NOT the bedding. Negative: The bedding was ABSOLUTELY disastrous. Torn, stained, old and smelly comforter and sheets. Had to supervise and help the complete top bedding change which happened in third attempt after sorting through the beddings they brought out. Hotel, fix this first!
Excellent stay, highly professional and courteous staff. 2 min walk to Time square, 10 to Rockefeller, 15 to Central Park and the Empire State building. Off-site parking is a 1/2 block away, just before you get to the hotel. I dropped off the bags then circled the block. Great stay, kids even loved it.
Definitely not a 5 Star hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location by Times Square was amazing. Now the negatives: no bathtubs in rooms (some suites have one), small bathrooms, no coffee machine in room, does not honor IHG benefits such as room upgrades or late checkouts, no business center, The hotel room needed work - eg wallpaper was peeling off. Requested foam pillows was given feather. Thin walls - it seemed we shared a room with whom ever was next to us. Lobby was dirty and loud.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and will definitely come back the next time I visit New York City. The rooms were very clean, which is my top priority when I stay in a hotel. All of the staff from the valet driver to the concierge were very friendly and eager to help. The customer service was wonderful! Based on my experience, I would highly recommend The Kimpton Muse New York City to everyone!
My stay this time was exponentially better than last time. Seems the staff needed a reminder about hospitality skills which they obviouslu got as everyone was on their game!My suite was sweet and Im glad Kimptons much loved wine hour is returning slowly. Great hotel 1-2 blocks from the mayhem known as Times Square. Id stay again!
We stayed for a couple nights and had a good experience. The location where the hotel was in was nice. It was about a 1 minute walk from the middle of Time Square. The block to the Hotel has been blocked so you need to slide the metal barriers to get in. This can be nice but a bit confusing since it makes it seem that youre not able to drive in. There is a sign in very small fine prints that say you can open it if you are going to the hotel. I missed this the first time and drove around, which killed another 15 minutes with traffic. The room itself was nice, light kept flickering on and off in the bathroom on the second day. We paid close to 700 dollars(which included 45 a day for Parking). Otherwise just for the stay, the cost for two nights would have been around 580sh.
The Kimpton hotel is conveniently located in Times Square NYC. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Check in and check out are easy. Unfortunately this hotel is suffering from false advertising on their website. The website mentions that there are rooms with queen size beds in them; however these beds are no more than a industry standard double. I had originally booked a hotel across the street and then changed specifically to this hotel for the queen beds as we had more people join our party for the trip. When telling the hotel staff that we were not in a room with queen beds we got multiple answers: “those are European queens”. “Hotel beds have different standards than industry.” “Our hotel queen beds are a special size”. My regret here is that they are charging more when not providing what the website is advertising. Unfortunately would not recommend
I have stayed at this property many times of the years including 3 times in the last 6 weeks during the pandemic and they always do a wonderful job. The front desk staff is incredibly friendly and always greet me enthusiastically, particularly as Ive come more often. Rooms are always clean and spacious for midtown. I did have one issue with the TV remote and the repair team came to the room within in a few minutes. Always a pleasure to stay here.
DISGUSTING service. Worst EVER! Kimpton Muse Hotel, I booked a 1 br suite specifically so that me, my wife, and my senior daughter could have a great trip to NYC together before she graduates. You do NOT just tell your clients when they arrive “we’re overbooked, too bad, so sad.” All to insure your revenue of you get a no show? Well, I SHOWED, and my family did not get the room they reserved for us. This may be one of our last trips before my daughter goes off to college, and I’m in one room and my wife and daughter are in another. No excuses, no reasoning, and dispute is having had our reservations confirmed for WEEKS, they just overbooked for their profit margins, didn’t ask us to “volunteer” like an airline would, just told us “too bad.” My wife is horrified, and my 17 year old is in tears. Me? I’m in a separate room because Kimptons PROFITS are more important to them than their CLIENTS. Utter horsecrap.. Don’t EVER stay here, and make sure you tell EVERYONE you know. Feel free to message me for more details or media contact. I’m going to put it out there FAR AND WIDE how Kimpton treats its guests.
The Kimpton Muse Hotel is located in the heart of Manhatten right beside Times Square. We arrived and were greeted by Daniel, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was going to be memorable. He noticed we had pets and with Kimpton Hotels.... if pets can fit through the door, they are welcome at no additional charge. This makes us choose Kimpton when traveling. Daniel was nice enough to tell us more about the area and choose a room that would suit our needs. It is the kind of welcome that makes you feel like you are family. When we arrived in our room, we were very pleased. They are larger than many New York City hotels, have excellent views, equipped with plush beds and luxurious bathrooms. There are even small fridges in the rooms which are becoming obsolete in many hotels, so this is a huge plus. Cleanliness and safety are a priority. We saw staff cleaning the hotel throughout the whole stay. Overall, the hotel is excellent and I have already told my friends to choose this hotel, especially with pets! I cant wait for my next stay. If I would do something differently, I would have booked a room with a balcony. The balcony rooms offer something different and extraordinary!
The bed was awful, too soft and also creaky. Hotels amenities are all closed, not even bottled water was available. Air conditioner clunked and clanked all night long. Only good thing was the water pressure. Definitely not a 4 star hotel and not worth the price, even for the location.
Positive: I actually like everything about this hotel, it was clean and quiet. Negative: The ONLY thing I did not like was that once you check in you have to pay an additional $200.00 fee. I forgot what it was for, but I wish they could have gave a heads up when booking.
Wow what can I say... I had a lovely stay. First time in New York, a special mother & daughter trip away. the hotel was amazing, the staff are incredible, so friendly and welcoming. Two particular guys on Reception I spoke a lot to, nothing was too much trouble and great advice on restaurants & things to do. Definitely would stay here again!
My family and I stayed here over Thanksgiving. The hotel is extremely nice and clean. The service was excellent, with the front desk staff greeting us by name every time we entered the lobby. The location is amazing, especially for first time Manhattan visitors. It is just half a block off of Times Square and a very easy walk to anything in Midtown. I highly recommend!
Great location! My family stayed here the first week in July. It is a cool hotel in a great location, close to Times Square and the theater district. They had a great complimentary wine service every evening.Good sized rooms with Queen beds which is rare. Beautiful modern bathrooms with amazing water pressure and rainfall shower heads.Friendly, helpful staff, great maid service.Cons: Broken elevator the entire 10 days we were there making travel up and down between lobby and room SLOW and HOT with one working elevator for our floor. Sometimes people had to wait as elevator was full during busy times.Computer problems during check in so only had one person able to check people in causing delays.A bit noisy at night but to be expected since so close to times square. Pet friendly hotel which is nice.
This was my first time vacationing in NYC. This hotel was absolutely amazing. Words cant describe how great the customer service was. As a small business owner myself I pay very close attention to customer service and all I can say is Wilson needs a raise 😃. The entire staff was amazing but he stood out to me
We booked a suite weeks ago, and today they called us and told us that they had overbooked and that our room was “no longer available.” They weren’t very willing to work with us and now we are last minute trying to find a place to stay. We’re angered and dissatisfied with their service.
The hotel is well located for those who look to stay next to times Square in the heart of New York city. Most of the staff were super friendly, and I was also upgraded during my stay. The rooms were totally renovated, and quite big comparing to hotel rooms in NYC. My second room was a suite with hosting area (sofa, tv and more). The bathroom was super clean, New, with high end amenities (shampoo and shower gel).I think they should improve the breakfast (25$ extra/person) and we had some issue regarding the heating system, but they well behaved and took responsible for the issue above, and made us feeling super welcome.Im sure that I will stay there next time.Last thing to mention, each day they serve a free wine to all of the guests from 5 pm to 6 pm. Unfortunately we enjoyed that only once during 11 nights of stay.
I would actually rate the Kimpton Muse 4.5 stars. I booked a room with a balcony. The room itself is rather small but functional. Bed is super comfortable. Alarm clock doubles as a Bluetooth speaker which is always appreciated. Hotel has Covid 19 restrictions in place so minibar empty and room is sparse in terms of bathroom amenities. But the balcony is really nice. It’s big. Fits a high top table with 4 chairs as well as 2 loungers. Great for entertaining. Front desk staff is super friendly. I checked in very late with no issues.Location is great. Near Times Square and Bryant Park. Highly recommend.
I wish I could give this hotel 10 stars! Such a beautiful and comfortable room, very clean, and service was amazing! They went above and beyond for a birthday and truly made our stay special! Also, great location! We were worried that staying so close to Times Square would be loud, but not at all!
I can’t say enough how I was please with my stay at The Kimpton Muse! From the check-in to the check-out, we received the best service from the staff! Special shout out to Joseph and Angel for making my lady’s birthday a success! Because of Covid, a lot of the restaurants were limited and/or not available. I decided to create a romantic candlelight dinner in the bar/lounge area. Angel made it happen for me! Table was set up to perfection and the surprised look on my lady’s face was exactly what I was looking for! Thanks Angel!! My guy Joseph went all the way above and beyond for me! I was so pleased with the accommodations that he set me up with! As a matter of fact, the whole staff was A-1!!! A short walk away from Times Square and plenty of attractions to choose from. Listen, that Deli right next door has THE best breakfast sandwiches! I wanna go back tomorrow! Barbara, David, and the other young lady at the front desk (liliana?) all helped to make my lady’s birthday a memorable one!! Comfy bed in a great spacious suite! I couldn’t ask for anything more! Thanks again for making her special weekend celebration a great one! We’ll beback, and I want that same room Joseph!!
Wonderful Staff! Angel is the best! He was very helpful and out going. He gave us great suggestions of places to dine in the area. The rest rest of the staff was incredible as well. The rooms are amazing! They are very large with beautiful decor and comfortable beds with awesome views of the city. Definitely will be back to stay in the summer or fall!
Great location in Times Square. Very nicely appointed rooms, surprisingly quiet given its location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Really liked how small and intimate the hotel is. Nice wine reception from 5-6 daily and hot chocolate at 3 PM. Would definitely stay here again.
Another wonderful Kimpton hotel, located right on the edge of the theater district. My wife and I stayed her on a visit to NYC for our anniversary, and everyone on the staff was helpful and friendly. The concierge knew it was our anniversary, so she arranged to get us into a suite. Bathroom was a nice size, shower stall had dual shower heads, and king bed was very comfortable. The hotel restaurant was being renovated, but there are tons of nearby options so this wasnt a problem. They did offer a breakfast on a lower floor, but we ate out locally both mornings. Highly recommended if you need a good hotel near Broadway.
First, the information I received about the parking package changed when I arrived at the hotel.Second, I felt my room wasnt cleaned. This was confirmed when I found two small bags of dog poop in the room, one on the table and the other on the floor.Third, the room and balcony had a strong smelled of weed. I do not smoke or care for it.
The absolute best hotel I have ever stayed in.The Kimpton staff was amazing. The young lady that helped us at the desk was an absolute sweetheart. (Unfortunately they did not meet the 3pm check in time, but we only had to wait 10 extra minutes)We had an amazing room, with a fantastic view!! Only a block from time square, but yet no noise was heard on the 18th floor. We had a breathtaking private balcony. The room was lovely and clean. The only negative thing I can say was that there was a giant hole in one of the sheets, no way the maid could have missed that when she was cleaning the room. Also, the liner to the shower door was coming off and actually cut my leg.But in all honesty, I would go back a million times! No where is perfect but this place is as close to perfect as Ive seen!
Front desk staff was great, friendly and knowledgeable. Also just seems happy to have guests to talk to. The personal touches were great (especially after they found out it was my 40th birthday). Room was a whole other level. 1503 was incredible. Great tub, shower, and the balcony/patio was awesome. In this time of Covid-19 they are also keeping things clean and distant. Sanitizer at the front desk and the door and common areas. Also 2 people per elevator unless they are part of your traveling party. Also of note with outdoor dining now a thing in NYC the restaurants on the street are using it to their advantage, as they should. 46th is closed from late afternoon on for the restaurants. But Id youre coming in late and call the hotel theyll move the barrier so you can pull up for drop off.All in all I would love to stay there again and hopefully can soon!
Great as always. Love the way the two rooms share a common door that can be secured to hallway. Maybe the best shower I have ever taken. Staff as always was available, efficient and super friendly. One small thing. Would have been great to know no bar or restaurant. After spending day with (6) 16 years old girls it would have been nice to have a night cap.
Rooms were great! Service was spot on, I even got extra chocolate from my houseman. Beds were a big hard. Room was nice and clean. Totally dug the Bluetooth speaker in the room. Drinks at the bar were great with a nice selection. I had a glass of Merlot that was to die for. Over all great location and great hotel. Would come back again and share with others.
Very nice hotel right near Times Square. Staff were friendly and helpful. A nice bar Aurelio was our bartender. He makes excellent drinks. I was there with my daughter celebrating her birthday. They have an excellent selection of liquors. We love to stay at Kimpton Hotels because they welcome our dog. I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay near Times Square.
Every person that works here was beyond amazing and professional. They went out of their way to hold our suitcases until our flight left even though the hotel was closing for a few months due to COVID. Will 100% stay here again. Rooms were very large for New York City.
My Wife and I had planned a stay at the Muse quite awhile ago but unfortunately my wife got very ill and we werent able to commit to the date of our stay. I asked for a possible extension of the stay and Ms Joanna Butcher Front Desk Manager could not have been more accommodating. She not only said she would extend it, she went as far as to say whatever you need, you got it. We had to extend it twice due to my wife illness and Finally were were able to use the Certificate this past weekend. We stayed in a Beautifully appointed Room on a high floor with a very nice view. The Hotel is in a Great location with close proximity to everything you could possibly need. Nice touch providing guests with Wine every evening from 5 to 6PM. The Front Desk staff was so very kind and provided us with everything we could possibly need. Ms Butcher, as if she hadnt done enough, sent us up a Wine, Cheese, and Fruit plate and my wife was incredibly touched by her ongoing kindness We look forward to visiting your Hotel then next time we are in NYC and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for wonderful accommodations, a Great Staff, and Great Location!.
The rooms were very nice, and more spacious then I thought they might be. The hotel is located a block away from time square and is very centrally located for those looking to go out and explore. The staff was extremely welcoming and let us check in early on the first day. They offer nice perks like a wine reception during the night (free wine always a plus!). Overall I was very happy with this hotel and would gladly come back!
Nice boutique hotel on the center of the city. Clean. Kids and pets friendly. If you have a special request do not hesitate to ask. All you need will be organized by the front - concierge desk. When there checkout their restaurant. Their powder/ toilet rooms have attitudes.
What an AMAZING stay! This is located about a block off of Times Square! The rooms are very nice. Our room was their standard double queen room which had plenty of room for two people. We were on the 9th floor which was surprisingly more quiet than we anticipated. The hotel staff is incredibly helpful and kind. The decor is funky and fun. The hotel was pretty easy to find as well. It is located near a few bars, a little cafe, and a few restaurants. I cannot say enough about this hotel! It was fantastic and I highly recommend staying here! It is in a great location - walking distance to Rockefeller Center and the like. The subway stations are nearby and it was pretty easy to hail a cab on nearby streets. I had a blast and will definitely tell others about it.
We REALLY enjoyed our stay at the Muse! Our room was very very comfortable, beautifully decorated, super clean, and quiet. Great view down 46th street too! The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel had a great location - so close to everything we wanted! We’ d love to return and highly recommend the Muse! Thanks for a great weekend!!
The hotel is in a good location, and once inside, the lobby is clean and modern. The room was also clean, tidy, modern and spacious. We arrived early and the hotel staff kindly looked after our bags until it was time to check-in. The breakfast staff on our last morning were very friendly and attentive.Based on the hotel reviews, we were looking forward to staying here, unfortunately from that point onwards, the service received at this hotel is the worst I have received in all hotels Ive ever stayed at; plus the breakfast prices are extortionate for the available food options. My partner returned to the hotel to check-in alone, but the check-in service was awful. My gf was simply given the room key, no friendly welcome and no information about the hotel amenities or area. Instead of offering any assistance with the two luggage bags, she was simply told the room number. When I arrived to the counter, I explained it was my partners 21st Bday and thought it would be nice if we could return to the room after midnight, with the balloons, banner and cake Id just bought. Weve stayed at so many hotels where they go out of their way to help celebrate anniversaries and birthdays, yet this is the ONLY hotel where they wanted to charge a rediculous amount of money just to put some balloons in a room! I didnt feel like a valued customer at all.One evening, we noticed the fire alarm must have been faulty or running low on battery because it was periodically beeping loudly. I asked if it could be looked at, but at 05:00 in the morning, the beeping started again. When I spoke to the staff in the morning, I was reassured the issue would be fixed the second time. When we returned to the room in the evening, we noticed they had simply removed our ceiling fire alarm and one was not replaced for the remainder of our stay.I was delighted to hear I had 50 dollars of credit left on our last morning (one of the things we never knew about because the staff never told us we had 10 dollars of credit per night). So on our last morning I thought wed have breakfast at the hotel. I was surprised for the 2 of us the 50 dollars still didnt cover breakfast and we would have to pay an additional 13 dollars because of the additional charges - the breakfast food options at this hotel are seriously limited for what they charge you.Overall, I would never stay here ever again and I never thought Id say that about a hotel that had such a lovely room and lobby.
I love this hotel. It was the second time that I have stayed here. Rooms are clean, nice and have a cool decor. It’s half a block from prime time part of Times Square, so you can walk to many of the areas you might want to see or to the subway.Would have given them a five star review, but I asked them drop off some toothpaste to my room one morning on the way out and they didn’t do it.
The service at this hotel was unparalleled, and it started even before we checked in. My mother and I were on an overnight girls trip in the city, but due to street closures and traffic, we couldnt get to the hotel by car. I walked a few blocks while my mother stayed in traffic, and I asked the concierge how to proceed. The valet, David, introduced himself, explained where the garage was but I was confused, so he walked and found my mother in traffic, helped her get to the garage, parked her car AND carried our bags to the hotel. In the meantime I was able to check in, and they upgraded us to a larger room that was ready early. The room was beautiful and spotless, and I wish we had spent a few more days here! When we checked out and went to grab a quick lunch, David kept our bags and then had the car loaded and waiting by the time we got back. The whole experience with this hotel and staff was extraordinary, but David is a special kind of hero.
Stayed here previously in Feb 2019 and had a pretty great stay so booked again for September 2019. Hard to beat this great location in a modern hotel property just steps from the heart of Times Square. Due to them allowing us to check in early (thank you!) we (as Platinum IHG members) were asked to take a room on the 2nd floor that had windows opening to the sidewalk (they were open when we went in such that people could have climbed in, glad we checked!!). I suppose that was our call, but I wouldnt make that trade-off again and would rather have them hold my bags than take one of those rooms. The room was clean and modernly designed, but there is no coffee in the room so you have to get reasonably dressed and take the elevator down to the lobby to get your fix. They have a daily wine hour but when we arrived with 15 minutes left, they had already stopped serving. Also, we are fit people but the bathroom was so tiny we had to step against the shower to open and close the door (the door almost touches the toilet and sink to open/ close). Minor things in the grand scheme but good to know. The most concerning item of this property is a brand new Guest Amenity Fee. After taxes, this fee is $34.42 per day. What does it get you? Free local and long distance call on the room line (there are still phones in hotel rooms? dont need that one), free WIFI (get it free already if you are a IHG member), and $10 minibar credit (that will buy you one beverage or one candy bar). So, I consider this a new 10-20% increase on my room rate that could be easily overlooked. I did hear back from the hotel on my concerns and they were responsive and helpful to have them fully addressed, so that is a great positive and speaks to their customer service. As a result, I have adjusted my grade up one star higher than I would have rated had they not worked to make things right. So where does this leave me? Well, the location is excellent (although be aware, while they are mere steps away there are no particular views of Times Square from the rooms) and the property is nice and modern, the value proposition is definitely affected by these mandatory additional charges that dont have value for me. I hope they reconsider that feature, but the rest of you should just factor it into your decision for now.
Absolutely loved this place!Interacted with many hotel staff and all were friendly and kind.Rooms were large and clean and comfy. Even came with a yoga mat! Most importantly, The Muse is incredibly pet friendly. We were able to bring my 65 lb rescue mutt at no extra cost. When we got their our pup was given a couple of treats. We forgot our dogs water bowl so they brought us up actually dog dishes. And there are no restrictions to leaving the dog in the room while we go out to eat. We have already booked our second trip to The Muse.
Wonderful hotel the front desk person name Esprit was so nice and kind and really was super helpful. The room we had was a nice size and the bathroom was large. The front door people helped with bags and even held our bags when we checked out so we can grab food. Will return for sure.
I rarely ever review anything, but felt that I had to review this hotel because everything just was far beyond my expectations. My husband and I just spent the weekend at the hotel and the Staff went above and beyond. We brought our Dog with us and and she was even allowed to be at the wine hour and was embraced by so many people. She loved the all the attention she received. The hotel brought her a bed, pet dishes and a biscuit to the room for us. The staff also sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne to our room for our anniversary which made it even more special. I can’t thank the hotel enough, they made our stay absolutely perfect! I go to the city often and I will never look beyond Kimpton Muse again.
I dont generally review hotels but our experience at Kimpton Muse exceeded every expectation from the moment we checked in. Every member of the staff we interacted with from the front desk to in the restaurant made sure our experience was nothing but great. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the breakfast down at the restaurant was so good we chose to eat there every morning before venturing out. Great location if you want to be close to the action. Highly recommend. We will be back!
Hotel was very clean. Rooms are spacious and washrooms are new as well. I forgot my laptop at the hotel, realized several hours later at the airport. Fortunately my flight was delayed and I called security at hotel and Ray helped me find my laptop and send it via Uber to the airport. He is so kind and even asked me to call him when I get it.
Location of this hotel was perfect for my conference which had events in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Its central location between 6th and 7th avenue intersecting with Broadway was great! Major train lines (a,b,c,d,n,q, etc) was within 2-5 minute walks. The interior of the hotel was ok. The bed had a decent amount of firmness. As I prepared to take my first shower in the room I found a long hair on the soap bottle in the shower so that grossed me out. The front desk was not very responsive. I called and no one answered. The phone just rang and rang. Another time I called I almost hung up because the phone rang for so long but someone did eventually pick up. Seems like they may need more staff.
Stayed 3 nights . Room was Ok , nothing grand though. Chic place but let down by the bedding not hotel quality had holes in it , and was quite limp and grey looking . Room was quite dusty ( lamps , and frames off fancy lighting by the beds . Peeling wallpaper in the bathroom and all doors were quite mucky needed a good wash down . When we booked this through our travel agent she said we had an upgraded room , not sure this was the case. Good location for amenities .
Nice hotel, decor is modern and chic. Staff has been helpful. Couple things in our room were broken but not the end of the world. Hotel is very close to times square, thats a positive or negative based on if you want to be real close to times square. Public space is pretty limited, so hard to take advantage of the wine happy hour when lots of guests are down ther, but still nice that they do it.
Watch what you pay for. Not only do you pay NY tax you also pay $25 dollars a day for the pleasure of free internet and international phone calls. You do get $10 dollars back which also includes the usage of their eating and drinking facilities. They also offer a $15 dollar discount card. But, when you get your bill these are not included so you have to ask for it. Now onto the main part of this review. Room 1504 has a balcony which you pay a premium for, very nice for a special vacation, unfortunately the seating was dirty and table was dirty and you get covered in water from the air con units above you so basically you cant use the balcony. Furthermore the views are not great and the boundary safety fence is full of waste bottles rubbish and cigarette buts. No robes in room but they are on the amenity list, had to ask for them, only one turned up. Some staff a little terse and not really listening or interested. Will not return, my advise is to look elsewhere.
We just stayed and it was fantastic. I have two very small gripes with the place - our outlets by the bed didn’t work right and there was a sticker on the toilet paper rolls (a sanitation thing, I’m sure, just annoying and very small) that made me shake my head a bit. My husband was a bit perplexed by the unisex bathroom in the lobby, which was hilarious to me. Very comfortable beds and we loved the hot chocolate and wine hour. The reason why we’re not giving a 4 star review is because of checkout/desk in general. There aren’t enough people at the desk. You can hear the phone ringing off the hook continuously. And the lobby is packed at all times. Our biggest issue was the valet. If we could review the valet separately we would leave 1 Star. We didn’t mind the expense of the valet, but you can’t access your car once you put it in for the night (it’s not 24hr access like other Kimptons). What really made us upset with our Kimpton experience was when our car was taken out after checkout. The valet parked it in a snow bank and my husband had just filled the gas...yet we were down to 1/3rd of a tank. How far away is the garage that you would use 2/3 of a tank getting there and back?! We were also greeted by the front desk before being greeted by the valet. I don’t think we can fault the hotel for this, but they should get this checked out - we can’t be the only ones who had the problem.
Most amazing hotel experience ever. The staff, including Daniel and Angel, couldnt have been any more accommodating or welcoming. From the balcony room we had, to the nightly wine hour, the stay here could not have been better! Highly recommend this spot that is mere feet from the heart of Times Square.
The hotel is actually in a good location close to Time Square, perhaps a few hundred feet away unlike the Intercontinental Time Square which is actually four blocks away from Time Square. The room was nice and the bed comfortable but on the smaller side. The hotel doesnt have much to offer its guests. The lobby is tiny with rather uncomfortable seats and the breakfast isnt worth the $25 per person that they charge.Dont expect the staff to do anything for you either. The biggest issue I had I with the staff was them not recognizing my Priority Club Platinum membership. As a Platinum Elite member you normally get a Thank you for being a Platinum Elite member; points or a free drink. On a different matter, Ive been with the Priority club for many years and we always get something for our birthdays, a glass of water, some drink vouchers, hell even a happy birthday card in the room. This is the first hotel that didnt do anything for my wifes birthday. As mentioned above, the staff and hotel do absolutely ZERO for their guests yet they are charging a $25 resort fee which I felt didnt offer anything of value. Lets be clear, this hotel is not a resort so it should never be charging resort fees in the first place. The $25 fee apparently offers a $10 credit at the hotel and free internet. The $10 credit doesnt even get you a bottle of water because the water bottle in the room costs $10 and then you have to add in the 9% sales tax to it which means the water bottle costs almost $11.There are two more things to note about this hotel. The street which the hotel is located on is lined up on both sides with trash and the area smells bad especially when it is hot. The second is the extremely loud construction that is taking place at night. It is so loud that is makes it almost impossible to sleep. Normally high class hotels like this one have sound proof walls but it doesnt seem the case with this hotel because the noise from the outside was just unbearable. As a result I was deeply dissatisfied with the experience so I wrote to management detailing my concerns and Ms. Joanna promptly wrote back to me and addressed my situation. Thank you for taking care of us as this is the only reason Im giving your hotel 3 stars.
Stayed here for our honeymoon and have to say The Muse was an excellent choice. Right from the moment we contacted them regarding booking they were always very helpful and promptly answered all our questions. After a long day travelling we arrived to find a few nice treats in our room and had also been allocated a room with a balcony. The size of the room was impressive for the amount you pay, similar rooms at other hotels were twice the price. Food and cocktails at Nios were also up to the same high standard.Top marks and big thanks to all of the staff at The Muse!
This is a nice high-end hotel in the heart of manhattan, its very nice however I paid in full before my stay and they randomly charged my credit card $100 on the day I checked out. It was an extremely round about process to talk to someone and have them to tell me why, and finally after 2 hours on the phone with different customer service people they said it was for accidentals in case there was any damage in my room (which there absolutely was not). It took another 3 days for the charge to be reversed.
Location is perfect to walk everywhere within a few blocks. Service here was amazing from the second we walked in the door, all staff at front desk were super helpful and friendly!!! Rooms were very clean and nice, nice showers! This experience made our first trip to New York so much easier, from a small town country girl I so appreciated this!
I had stayed at this hotel in Dec. last year and loved it. This year, I arrived late (around 8:30) due to construction at LGA and amazing traffic in comparison with the last year. The service representative on check in at the hotel took a long while trying to find a room. My reservations were made over a month before arrival. Finally, he asked the supervisor. She never looked at me or greeted me. She told the representative - put her in 201. (which I believe is the room only used when nothing else is available) Well, 201 meant at the end of long day - a bathroom in which the door was hung so that you could not get to the shower without backing up against the wall near the toilet and next to the pedestal sink, closing the door, and creeping through. In addition, the light fixture was flickering like a small strobe light, since the light needed to be replaced. While the make up mirror was nice to have, it was installed so that you would have to figure out a way to stand over the toilet or between the small space between the toilet and wall to use it The ceilings were low and a window was there but low to the ground. There was no sound proofing so all street noise was loud. I asked for a new room. I was told there were none by the manager. I was told by the manager that I should have checked 2 weeks prior to my reservation if I had special needs. My special needs were a quiet room with an accessible bath. The room was clean and well appointed. The manager was rude. No sympathy - no compassion. (photos below)I will not be staying here again.
We came in for my moms 65th birthday and it was a wonderful weekend thanks to this awesome photo. The room was quite large for NYC. The room was beautiful. The staff were very attentive and responsive to any questions we had. Thank you for having such a wonderful staff.
Beyond expectations. First of all we were on the top (19th) floor with a walk out balcony and beautiful views of Times Square and Manhattan. The rooms are very large especially for NYC standards as many have mentioned. Full size bathrooms and wonderful rain shower heads. Hotel staff probably the most energetic and friendly hotel staff I’ve encountered anywhere. Amazing location. Only half a block from the center of Times Square, 4 blocks from Radio City Music Hall, and 20 min walk or so to Central Park. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be in the heart of it. I couldn’t have been happier with the decision to stay at the Kimpton Muse.
Had great service, If you are planning on only staying on the island of Manhattan and want to be close to everything this hotel is right near the heart of times square. The inside has recently been updated and they have a free wine tasting at 5pm every night. Price is a little high but you are literally a 1 minute walk from times square, if this is the area you want to be close to then this hotel is perfect.
I would of really enjoyed this hotel except I had personal property removed from my room during my stay. I notified the hotel immediately upon realizing the items were missing from my nightstand where they had been left in the morning. I had to contact the hotel multiple times during my stay as well as after in an attempt to resolve this situation. This was finally turned over to the hotels insurance who denied my claim, so now I remain out several hundred dollars to replace my missing items.
We have nothing but great things to say about this hotel! Weve stayed on two separate occasions - eight years apart - and love the location for convenience to all the Broadway theatres. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for NYC, the linens are top quality and provides everything we expect when we travel - sparkling clean, prompt responses from staff for extra towels, excellent coffee/tea service in the morning and a afternoon wine reception to boot. Its become our go-to place anytime we need to stay in mid-town.
I booked a room about a week before my check in. Yesterday, I received an email stating my confirmation was canceled. No explanations! I attempted to call the number in the website and kept reviewing a “not in service” number. Now I need to scramble to find accommodations the weekend before Christmas. I forgot to mention this was my sons Christmas present so thanks Kimpton Muse Hotel for adding more stress to an already stressful year!!!!
My stay at the Muse was a joke. No other word can describe it:1) Upon check in I was advised that the restaurant and bar was closed for renovation. With the temperature outside at 12 degrees, I was directed to the only restaurant close by. A seedy Irish bar with the most awful food..No food or drinks were available in the hotel2) I was told however that the breakfast buffet was outstanding. See later comment3) To say the bedroom is small is an understatement4) This morning , since there is no coffee machine in the room, I went to the lobby for coffee. The minimalist designer went totally over board. THERE IS NO WHERE TO SIT IN THE LOBBY. No seat or chair has a back rest. So I went downstairs for breakfast5) The breakfast consisted of some pastries and few left over items (at 7:38am) with 13 over ripe blackened bananas, so I sat and had my coffee from the lobby.6) I was told that if I wanted a coffee refill from the pot in the breakfast room, I would have to pay $15.00. So I had to go back upstairs, refill my coffee as there is nowhere to sit in the lobby of this hotel.I have stayed in other Kimpton Hotels such as the Ink48, and over 200 nights a year on the road throughout Europe and Asia.Bar none this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Interesting to see that on todays website, they have lowered their price to $159.00, still a ridiculous price to pay for this hotel
Hands down the best experience at the hotel until I got my bill. I was charged for two rooms instead of one. I called four times today to speak with a manager, an assistant manager, anyone and have left two or three messages. 16 mins on hold, and NO return calls. Nice.
Went there to visit my brother and the room was nicely decorated with modern furniture and silver accents. The only downpour was that my brother was charged twice for his room and had to deal with a rude front desk employee but ended up getting reimbursed nicely. Also the hallways are mazelike. Almost got lost!
Absolutely perfect! From the location to the overly accommodating staff, we could not have had a more pleasant experience.Every time we walked in, we were greeted with the most hospitable front desk employees. It truly was one wonderful little thing after another:- The concierge who greeted us upon checkin with smile and offers to assist with anything we needed- The doorman who chased down a taxi for us, even when the street in front of the hotel was closed for a run- The night desk person who wrangled a bucket with iced cold drinks as our fridge was being replaced at the time of our stayOur room was large, lovely and well appointed. We had upgraded to a balcony room, which in nicer weather would have been used for some fresh air. In the AM, there was a coffee bar, and the evenings wine receptions are a wonderful touch.Id highly recommend people becoming Kimpton Karma Rewards members. The perks turned it from a great stay to an amazing one (not to mention discounts).Ill definitely be back and would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling.
I stayed here when it was very cold in NYC and my room had no heat. I wasnt offered to be moved and instead got a space heater placed in my room??? I had to sleep on the edge of the bed fully clothed with a robe on just to keep warm. It was too cold to shower in the room and the water wouldnt get hot either. I was moved to another room the following day and given free breakfast. The new room wasnt spectacularly warm and when I told this to the front desk I was given a $25 credit per day to cover the amenity fee... I travel a ton and this is the first in 5 years that Im platinum and not spite elite. I typically dont ask for anything and dont need much when I travel but this time.i was very disappointed that the hotel didnt try to remedy the situation a bit more. I dont feel like I should have to pay for a room that has no heat or hot water! Also when I got the survey post my stay it didnt allow me to provide any sort of feedback about these concerns. Very strange and I wont be staying there again as a result of this experience.
Kimpton Muse is my go to hotel when I need to be in midtown Manhattan or planning to see a Broadway show. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms have nice decor. This time we got a room on 15th floor, the only floor that had balconies. There is a restaurant at the hotel as well, with a Spanish flare. One of favorite things about this hotel and all Kimpton hotels is their incredibly comfortable bed. I always sleep well at Kimpton Hotels. Overall, great hotel in good location.
The whole property is extremely clean. Their attention to detail and the courtesy of the staff was unsurpassed. Hotel has been kept very up to date. There are shops just outside the hotel. Greeted with warm welcome upon arrival. Parking is available at the hotel. We look forward to a return visit.
This is a typically exceptional Kimpton hotel. It is perfectly maintained and well staffed. Any issues you might run into are quickly solved. A small example, when we arrived late at night our room had no hand soap. We called the front desk and had two bars in hand within five minutes. All that and this hotel is a half block from Times Square.
I have been privileged to stay at a few Kimpton properties in the past and had come to trust the brand. This is the first time Ive been disappointed at one of their hotels. When we arrived, our room had a window AC unit that was loud and had a large hole in it that allowed us to see out onto the street. Three different employees insisted that we would have to live with this room during our weeklong stay. The fourth employee I spoke with moved us into another room with a built in AC that did not have a visible hole in it.The hotel is billed as 4 stars, but it is definitely not. The rooms are small and poorly insulated, which means that the AC runs itself constantly. Thanks to the ancient AC, the sounds and smells of 46th street are present in the room. This is particularly frustrating because the hotel is adjacent to pubs and nightclubs and because parts of 46th street have waist-high piles of warm, odorous trash lining the sidewalk. During most of our stay there was no doorman present. It appears as though one of the front doors handles had been broken off and was never replaced. I am told that the windows in every room begin at chest height, which made it difficult for my wife to enjoy the views of New York that we were looking forward to having in our room.Any vehicle wishing to reach the hotel needs to cross through Times Square, which adds time when waiting for a car and frustration when trying to return in one. There were quite a few times where we asked a driver to let us out blocks away from the hotel because it was easier and faster to walk the rest of the trip rather than have them attempt to get to the door. The bright spots for the hotel are that it is convenient to broadway and that the cleaning staff did a fantastic job keeping the room spotless. The employees at the front desk were also friendly and helpful. In the future, I will look more closely at the individual hotel before booking a stay at a Kimpton property.
Wonderful hotel with great staff. Daniel was exceptionally helpful. The only suggestion would be to request a room not facing 46th street like we had. This was not a fault of the hotels, but we had serious trouble sleeping due to the loud music from neighboring bars.
This hotel is amazing and without doubt one of the best hotels in NYC. The rooms are very beautiful, modern with a nice pop art twist and they feel (because they are) luxurious. The minibar is the best in NY and the service is beyond words, perfection. This is the best hotel in Time Square thats for sure. The 5:00 cocktail is great, feels like a private club.
We needed to come to New York for a short four-day trip. Normally we stay at five star hotels for 1 to 2 weeks. American Express suggested this hotel. It was close to where we had some business to do as well as close to the theater district. This is a beautiful small boutique hotel. We stayed in room 1701 which is a beautiful executive room with a nice view looking down 46 street. The bathroom was unusually large and comfortable for New York. The room was beautifully decorated. The staff could not be more accommodating.would definitely stay here again.
We were upgraded to a room with king bed on the 18th floor on arrival. From the moment we stepped in to leave a case two days before checking in the staff were warm helpful and genuinely kind to me and my nine year old daughter. Michael & Daniel were mines of information on places to see and things to do in NY and even gave useful tips for Washington! We were first time visitors to NY. We hope to be back with the rest of the family some time soon and we will definitely stay at the Muse! With special thanks to all the staff and especially to Amanda
We are currently staying here in room 1502 with a lovely balcony, and the room is lovely. We’ve been loooking for a hotel to call home from home since the Warldorf Towers closed and it looks like we found one. We booked for my hubbies birthday and our daughters 21st. Sadly our daughter has been struck down with food poisoning ( not from the hotel food) but from elsewhere. And has been in bed all day on her birthday, to say the staff at this hotel are fantastic is an understatement, they are incredible, every single one of them including Angela from Housekeeping, what a truly lovely lady, bless her heart. The people on the desk who have bent over backwards to try make our daughters 21st a special day but sadly not able too as she’s so sick, but fingers crossed she’ll be well enough to enjoy it tomorrow. We absolutely love this place and look forward to making it our home away from home for many years to come.
Awesome location just steps from Times Square, on a quiet side street. Beautiful lobby, and helpful, friendly staff greet you when you return from a fun day in the city. The happy hour every evening (with free wine) is a nice way to unwind, and the rooms are spacious (by NYC standards), and beds comfortable.
The hotel lobby is nice however I have a few large issues with recommending this hotel- Portable air con unit in room which was incredibly noisy. Ill live with it- No complimentary water in room. Cheapest bottle of water is 7 dollars- Prices in restaurant are excessive. A cappuccino is 10 dollars with tax and tip of 18% added on top. So just shy of 13 dollars for a coffee. When i gave feedback leaving the hotel that i found this excessive, I was told THIS IS NEW YORK, THIS IS TIME SQUARE. GO FIND A COFFEE FOR UNDER 10 DOLLARS. So rude. @Kimpton, I did and I suggest others do too. Wont be back
The muse hotel is a solid competitor in NYC. The rooms are large by NY standards and the complimentary wine reception is a plus. Its a boutique style hotel which I like, not too large and the crowds arent too bad in the lobby. Very modern and plush feel. The location cant be beat, its right smack in the middle of times square and its a great place if you want to be where all the action and tourists are. The hotel is expensive and rates have gone up significantly since the renovations. I would stay there again if I did a guys weekend trip and the rate was right. I wouldnt go there with my family as it seems to be more appropriate for adults.
We visit New York frequently to see our grandchildren and have stayed in most of the nice boutique hotels. The Kimpton Muse Hotel stands out for comfort, style and warmth. It will now be our home away from home in Austin. Beautifully appointed with great attention to detail and much more comfortable than most of the other trendy hotels. The innkeepers are just delightful, too.
Great staff, cozy rooms, comfy bed, and close to everything! First time staying in NY and its been pleasant so far. Everything about this hotel is lovely. Ill be in NY once a year and I know where to go to call home. Espirte (I prolly butchered you name sorry!) and Barbara were excellent. Thank you ladies for awesome. *cough*Give them a raise *cough*
Ive stayed in a few Kimpton hotels and this one does not even come close to living up to its name. We checked in and I asked for additional pillows, never got them. Went up to my room and when I opened the door was hit with a horrible stench. Kept calling the front desk, no one picked up. Tried for a few minutes before giving up. Reserved 2 queen beds, they were full beds. Had to go on around the room to find an outlet that worked, found 2 out of the 8 in my room that worked. The night light above both beds (4 total) did not work. Tub in the shower had chipped paint all over and was not a pleasant experience. Our floor didnt have an ice machine. Kimpton should really do something with this property. Either fix it or take off the Kimpton name, its misleading.
Had a spectacular time at The Kimpton Muse hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. Love the beautiful modern decor. Hotel is in the perfect area, close to everything on time square yet quaint and relaxing! Will definitely be returning! Love the hotel and the Nios restaurant!
Surprised by the little touches. Arrived on my 40th birthday, and was greeted by then saying happy birthday. We got to our room, and about 5 minutes later a knock at the door was to give us a birthday bottle of wine. Very impressed. We didnt stay in the hotel much. It was purely a bed for us. But I cant fault the place. Highly recommended
UPDATE: UPON CHECKOUT I WAS TOLD TO GET TWO QUOTES AND PAPERWORK TO FILL OUT. THIS IS SOMEWHAT ACCEPTABLE, HOWEVER THEY SHOULD HAVE EXTENDED OUR STAY. I HAD TO MOVE HOTELS ACROSS THE CITY.Parked in valet. On the 2nd night of our stay got called that my car was hit in the garage. They also told me it is not their fault. I tried to extend my stay and they said it would be $450 for the night after my car was hit in the garage. Unacceptable. I was impressed with this hotel until this happened. They did not even offer to adjust our rate when our car was hit in their own valet lot. Unacceptable.
Very nice hotel, well located, very close to Time Square and the rooms are great!!. Super clean The staff is very corteous and helpful. This is specially important in a super fast, stressful city like New York I highly recommend this hotel and I and my wife will come back to this hotel again
I have been looking for a regular place to lay my head while traveling to New York for close to a year now. I finally tried the kimpton and my search is over. Rooms are large for New York and Time Square standards. nicely appointed, clean and comfortable, staff is absolutely outstanding and possibly the best feature of the property. Ill be coming here from now on.
Everyone was so wonderful and made the stay extra special. I will be back as soon as I can to see the angles and the astute gentle*** with the nice looking nails. The check in and out was handled very professionally I would recommend parking package if you are a Kimpton member.
I was pretty mad actually. It is near the time square, so we booked this hotel. But during the night. I found out the terrible issues.First, it does not block the noise outside the room. At the beginning I was walked up by the extremely loud open and close door noise from the room across the hall. it was like someone open your door. Then I was annoyed by the bathroom noise (seems someone showering late in the night), it was so loud and seems already above the noise level from our own AC.Second, after everything become quite a little bit. I shut down the AC. Creepy things happen, I felt like once I faced the toilet direction, there was like someone blow air to your face. I could not sleep at all.Third, the curtain was so thin it cannot block the sunshine at all. I was trying to sleep in the morning but I failed.I also don’t like the far distance they set up for the toilet and toilet paper. But I can bear it.One more thing, we did not find the ‘do not disturb’ thing to hang on the door, so we get someone knocked our door this morning and waked me up the million times.
I am someone who hardly ever gets a chance to travel. I decided that for my 30th Birthday I should finally take a day off from work and see my first Broadway play and live a little for once! I booked a room at The Muse after checking reviews online. This hotel blew us away! I plan on always looking for a Kimpton Hotel in the future. I used the Secret password when checking in and I received a small gift bag. Additionally, during check in there was hot chocolate to warm up with which my date continued to rave about for the next 24 hours. There was a free complimentary wine hour which we attended at the later end of the hour but it seemed like a great chance to network and mingle with other residents. We then left to see our Broadway show. Upon returning to the hotel we went to the bar and ordered a piece of cheesecake. The cheesecake was to die for! When we returned to our hotel room there was a bucket with champagne, three cupcakes, and a card from the staff wishing me a Happy Birthday! My eyes welled with tears! Upon arriving home after our one night stay I finally had a chance to open the gift we received with our secret password to find a jar of the hot chocolate cocoa powder! It was the absolute cherry on top if that is even possible! I plan to always look for Kimpton hotels in the future when I get a chance to travel. Thank you so much! You made my 30th Birthday amazing!
Took my girlfriend here for a birthday weekend. Was greeted by a warm welcome and a happy birthday even after the long New Years night no doubt the staff had. Later had champagne and cupcakes in the room with a lovely note. Great rooms with a perfect location to Times Square, Broadway, Rockefeller and Central Park. We stay at Kimptons whenever we get the chance and this, like the others, was wonderful.
We booked this hotel a 2nd time because of its location in the theatre district, being dog friendly and booking a room with both a balcony and jacuzzi. I ordered the exact same room this year that we had the year before, over the phone directly with the hotel staff. Although they confirmed the room by phone the day before, when we arrived into the city we were told on the phone that that room was booked by someone else and that they have no rooms with balconies or with jacuzzis available! The person that I had on the phone was nasty I asked to speak to the manager he was worse. They continued to lie and blamed their failure to give us the requested room on everyone but themselves .The manager said he would try to find another hotel for us in the area that had what we were looking for however he not only didnt find one he didnt get back to me now in the car in front of the hotel. Our Broadway show was in just 45 minutes at this point and my office assistant found a different hotel just 2 blocks away on 44th street with a balcony and with a jacuzzi that we took. She called the muse hotel back to see if they would have the flowers that I prepaid through the hotel delivered to the new hotel. The manager said that he would accommodate that request. When the show was over at 5:05 pm I got an email from the muse hotel that said since we canceled our reservation they canceled the flowers!!! I phoned talked to the manager and he also refused to redirect the paid for flowers!!!It was such a terrible experience, a nightmare. They actually went out of their way to injure a guest. I have to add that one of the two staff people we talked to and especially the manager were rude and condescending, didnt return phone calls. We travel for business all year long and normally stay at Ritz Carlton and four season hotel suits where staff and managers go out of their way to be courteous and helpful. When they make a mistake they go above and beyond to make it up so you forget what they did wrong.Unfortunately the muse Hotel people have a lot to learn. They were just terrible in every way.

2022-03-18I’ve stayed in New York a few times and it’s always like staying in a shoe box. This place was NOT LIKE THAT! It’s ambiance was modern and sleek, the rooms were roomy and we even had a very nice large balcony! The shower was my favorite part because both shower heads worked great and the water got very hot !! Which I enjoyed! The shower was roomy and even had a ledge. It was great. The room had 2 beds and a desk chair and sitting couch with a closet included and working refrigerator they even had a blow dryer. This place is great!! Everything worked and it was a pleasant surprise staying in New York!! Definitely would stay here again and give 5 stars would recommend!

2022-02-20I really enjoyed the room! I’m a stones throw away from Times Square, a quick stroll to the subway to get where I’m going, and something that’s not so popular in comments which I think should be… the beds and pillows were SO NICE! I slept better here than in any hotel in recent history! I’d stay here just for the sleep quality alone.Edit* It does get a little loud given we’re next to Times Square but nothing terrible. Still greatEdit** and they let me check in at 7am after flying a red eye! That’s amazing, thank you!

2022-06-20Daniel was absolutely awesome! His customer service & demeanor was profound. We definitely picked this hotel for its location however it definitely exceeded our expectations. From the gym & office located on the bottom floor to the complimentary wine tasting for the weekend guests. The ambiance and spaciousness in the rooms and lobby area were definitely appreciated. We are more than satisfied with our stay especially with the customer service from Daniel!!!

2022-03-06Fun place to stay within walking distance of Times Square and Broadway theaters. Our room was nice, well appointed and clean. It can get a little noisy but not too bad. The real perk was the staff! I didn’t get everyone’s name but everyone was so helpful with directions, places to go, time to get there, etc. Daniel, in concierge, helped with restaurant recommendations and reservations, all excellent!!! I even had to call the hotel at one point to ask the best way to get back via subway and the staff member was so helpful! You made NYC feel like home and I’ll be back for sure!

2022-02-11Room is small but comfortable and furnished with an Art Deco shiny theme. Check in was quick and friendly.Minimal street noise. Good midtown location. A bit too close to Times Square for my purposes- but if you want this locale then it’s good.

2022-05-18Great Hotel. Warm & efficient staff at the front desk, fabulous Art Deco rooms, comfortable beds. And a complimentary wine hour hosted by Joseph who welcomes guests exactly as youd wish to be at the end of a busy day.

2022-05-06Lovely hotel in the heart of the theater district. Bed is great. Unfortunately, no breakfast offered and the bar is closed. My only complaint is that the lighting in the room is bad and especially in the bathroom. Almost impossible to put on makeup in this lighting. Otherwise, great place.

2022-05-01Kimpton muse overall is a top notch place, and its animal friendly which Is fantastic, there were a few things a miss hence the 4 stars I gave it, there was no coffee maker in room and their restaurant is closed but it is due to covid so no real fault to them, I only one electrical socked worked in our room which was annoying, the carpet was pretty Yuck Im guessing its because it being a pet hotel but when your staying in the king suite paying $460 a night not including the $70 a day for parking you would think youd get better, I would suggest getting rid of carpet but again I get it, its an old hotel, one of our bathroom towels had brown stains on it which was not so great to see. As I said though all in all its a fantastic hotel with even better staff and an awesome location, you are literally in time square. We will 100% be returning if theyll have us and would genuinely recommend.

2022-02-01Positive: The room was fine Negative: The room had a space heater because it was so cold. internet was glitchy, the bar/restaurant wasnt open and there was no housekeeping service. I get the covid protocols and have no issue with that but they had some nerve charging the resort fee.

2022-01-31I live in NYC and do staycations often:King spa balcony- room 1503Several outlets and light fixtures not working.Heat unsatisfactory (had a space heater sent up and it turned out to be a very loud $10 space heater).Soaking tub filled with rusty yellow water like due to the drain which constantly leaked, so it ended up being a fairly useless feature. Bummer. No water or mini bar provisions.WiFi was so slow we ended up using our cell service instead.Decor is tacky and uncomfortable.Balcony was not cleaned up for our use. None of the lights on the balcony worked. This neighborhood doesn’t have much in the way of good food. Time Sq is kind of a dead zone for fine dining. There is one drastically over priced bodega a block south there’s a mid range taco joint next door. All in all we were not impressed.
