My husband and I visited for the first time in almost 6 years and were not disappointed! We sat at the bar because we didnt have reservations- the service was great. Cheese plate was really good, we liked all the local cheeses and pickled veggies. I had the pasta special as a main. It had flavors that didnt sound like they should go together but somehow they worked perfectly. My husband had the Asian chicken sandwich which was also amazing. We both had a cocktail and mine (named The Boulevardier Is Not That Bad) was one of the most complex drinks Ive ever had, and I am a craft cocktail fan, so Ive tried a decent amount of cocktails so far! Highly recommend Kindred Fare, it is on par with a major city restaurant, while still keeping it hyper local. We will be back soon!
We had a wonderful dining experience at Kindred Fare. We made reservations online for our first night of our honeymoon, and they greeted us at our table with champagne toasts! They have a small, intimate outdoor seating area, adorned with greenery and flowers. The inside dining room is intimate and beautifully furnished. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, she made our dining experience excellent. We had the Monday night prefix dinner, paired with the wine parings offerings— a great deal, one glass of wine perfectly paired with each course. The dessert was fantastic- plum sorbet. We will return for dinner whenever we are in the Fingerlakes region again. Thank you!
I dined here by the recommendation of a business colleague. The cauliflower wings were incredible, the cauliflower bisque even better! The side salad complemented the BBQ Beef Burger and the Asian Chicken Sandwich so incredibly well. I didnt think the meal could get any better until I ate the Chocolate Coconut Tart and some of the best homemade vanilla ice cream ive ever had. I will be back!
Beautiful restaurant and interesting food done well! Service was excellent, however, while attending a private event with a preplanned menu, I asked the waitress to make a small side salad from the family style salad we were being served. I explained I had a strawberry allergy. She told me she could accommodate, however, when the salad arrived, there were no strawberries but the greens were dressed with a strawberry vinegarette.
Solid food. We ordered the salmon and the steak. Both were very tasty. Nothing to call home about, but well executed. The home made ice creams are also a good choice. The service was quick and on Mondays they have a pre set menu special and no corking fees. Highly recommended. Will definitely be going back.
This place is next to where we stayed. The food is good and service was awesome too. We had poutine fries , pork belly fried rice and daily special salmon fish. The poutine fries I would say not Canadian style squeaky. But this is still good. As it is using bone marrow beef gravy.I love their daily special they made the salmon outside seared well and crispy. Inside is very moist and soft like slow cook style..Pork belly fired rice. Very fusion style.. the pork belly doesnt feel greasy at all. I think the fried rice was a little under hard size. I am Asian , I have many fried rice before. But overall I have this restaurant..
We held our rehearsal dinner in the side room at Kindred Fare. Susie was amazing to work with!! She listened to all of our ideas and requests and help us build a menu that worked for our party. Every guest commented on how delicious the food was and how well run the event was.Kindred Fare, Susie and her team orchestrated the most perfect family style meal. We enjoyed cauliflower wings, flatbread, salmon, steak, kale Caesar salad, asparagus, key lime tart and chocolate coconut torte.
Great poutine (pictured below)! We had the steak of the day which was flank. Its grilled over an open flame and was very tasty. I would have preferred it sliced a little thinner, as it made for quite a chew, but it wasnt tough. I also had the pasta of the day, which was spaghetti with pork belly and smoked paprika. Really tasty, the spaghetti was perhaps a tad overcooked. Its a very attractive place for being in sort of a strip mall and overall we had a very nice experience.
Food here was rather disappointing even though we were full of excitement for it. The chicken had no flavor besides the sauce it was served with and the Mac and cheese was the same.I assumed steak would be a safe bet and so I opted for ribeye which came out overcooked for medium rare in two attempts. The flavor of the steak was excellent but it was so dry.We left here unsatisfied. We are told this is one of the best spots in Geneva so hopefully it was just a bad day/night for them.
I made a reservation ahead of time and when we got there our table wasn’t ready and we were asked to wait. The build out was very nice. Cauliflower wings were delicious and the highlight of our meal. The brussel sprouts seemed to be boiled and looked like hospital food. The fried chicken sandwich was drenched in a way too sweet of a sauce and overpowered the chicken. Our waitress asked if we wanted boxes and when we said “no just the check please” she said just said ok. Didn’t seem to take notice we barely ate. Felt terrible leaving a lot of uneaten food it just wasn’t very good. I planned this meal for my family based and reviews and was extremely disappointed.
I went to Kindred Fare with friends the weekend of IRONMAN 70.3 Musselman in Geneva. We selected it because it had options for all of the dietary preferences in our group (which included omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans). It is a farm-to-table restaurant that strives to keep a seasonal menu with fresh ingredients.I ordered the Fried Rice Bowl. It was basic in the sense that it only had a few ingredients (rice, tofu, a miso glaze, plus peanuts and scallions for garnish), but it was SO delicious!! The tofu was crispy, the glaze was full of flavor, and the rice was cooked to perfection. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and pleasing to look at. The staff is very friendly and takes their time to ensure that you have a good dining experience.Overall, our group really loved this restaurant, and I will definitely visit again the next time I am in Geneva!!
Disrespectful host that will force you to make reservations to sit at the bar top when almost every seat is available. People don’t make reservations in 2022, and definitely not to sit at a bar. Drove 40 minutes to try the place, very frustrating. The restaurant was not busy and only had two people sitting at the bar. Only a few people at tables. I was at the restaurant at 5 pm, as it was opening, they refused to take any walk-in according to the host. Kept trying to make me a reservation for 9pm, which I had explained multiple times I wasn’t interested in waiting 4 hours, but wasn’t willing to discuss why I couldn’t sit at the bar. One of the most awkward, least hospitable walk-ins to a restaurant I’ve ever had.
Update***Owner of this restaurant is genuine and absolutely immersed in her businesss reputation. Excellent communication and above and beyond concern for the experience provided to her guests. The restaurant was very clean and inviting.I must have ordered the wrong dish. I see the restaurant is highly rated, but my experience was less than stellar. We ordered a charcuterie board consisting of meat, cheese and duck pate. When the small plate was brought out, I honestly thought that the meat was on a separate plate. Small portion and highly expensive. $35 NOT well spent. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, a member of their team reached out to me immediately through Google within a couple of hours.
***Never been to Geneva NY before , hadnt any reason- Now, NOW I Truly Do-!Felt apprehensive as I walked up but- Once I opened the Great Door- I was welcomed n greeted with Kind Smiles (Not Employer trained/ forced) and it threw me off a little-Only to be woke by the fact they knew my name once I made eye contact n made me feel I was in the right place (all aspects) it was Top Star!- Our Waitress, the Employees , Ambience, Menu, Everything ordered was 10 for 10, Wine Spirits, Brew, Even H2o and Coffee present simple as not to grasp attention yet was both on point- clean crisp n True.I am 101% going back!!!Even all the way from home in Duck NC!P.S. pics to come soon :)Oh! We left while they locked up -They closed & we were in parking lot after a bit- I knocked and they came out in Snow to take Pictures for us :)Words from 25+ years as~*Eatery Proprietor, Chef & Bartender, Ect*o
We made a reservation for 5:30pm on a Saturday night, we were seated and met our waitress quickly. She was very knowledgeable on the foods that were offered. We ordered a custom mucktail and a saranac rootbeer for drinks. The mucktail they make custom each time, ours was amazing! We irseredtheir creamy tomato soup and bread with butter for appetizers. Both were amazing as well. For dinner we both had their grass fed burgers with a side salad and mac-n-cheese. The mac-n-cheese was to die for. Our burgers were more well done and dry, thats why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The place is one of a kind. Definitely worth the drive.
Nice atmosphere, cool ambiance, super friendly staff. We are from out of town and the bar tender gave us some great tips for the area. I had the Free on Craigslist cocktail (tasty pisco sour), for food we had the Burrata Bowl and the Salmon Chowder. The food was really tasty. Burrata was small but SO good! Chowder was very fragrant and lots of salmon. Good value for money!
EAT HERE. PLEASE, EAT HERE. This is the best food I have eaten in a long time, outside of my own kitchen. The wait staff was extremely helpful. The food was exquisitely seasoned and perfectly prepared. The servings were generous, made with fresh, quality ingredients mostly from local sources. We had water to drink, but they have a full bar and extensive wine list. Cant wait to return to this hidden treasure of the Finger Lakes!
Have to tell you that originally I did not want to go here. The menu didnt wow me when I looked at it. However I was deeply wrong. The atmosphere was warm and cozy inside. My husband and I were greeted by a friendly host upon our arrival. I am so impressed with our server Jude he knew the menu extremely well, told us about their committment to using community products and fresh herbs, which are grown on the premises. Walking by tables when we came in I saw huge seared scallops that looked amazing. My spouse got the white wine and garlic mussels with two crusty bread slices. He said they were very good. I ordered a corn chowder, which was like nothing I have ever tasted before. My only complaint about the chowder was that it needed more corn. (we got there at eight thirty though so the corn may have made it on other bowls) I had THE MOST delicious meatball flat bread (pizza) with ricotta and pecorino cheese and fresh basil. I ate all of it because I couldnt put it down. It was FABULOUS!! I highly reccomend it. Lastly we had dessert and that was very good too. My husband had a Cherry Tart, I had the Finger Lakes Forest ice cream with a crunchy baked Graham type cookie. Boy was I wrong about Kindred Fare they are creating food. Its not your standard establishment. If you are visiting Seneca Lake region make time to come to this place to eat. Jude our server told me you cannot judge a book by its cover. He was correct. 👍😎🤣😇♥️
Great eclectic menu with local meats and cheeses, duck, lamb, shrimp and grits, kale salad, butternut squash bisque, fried chicken, grass fed beef, etc. Excellent service, really nice decor and an extensive liquor selection in a lovely bar area with a few local beers on draft starting at $3. Happy hour 4-7 M-F.
Not often a place nails ambiance, service, and food at the same time, but kindred fare does all 3. Easily one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had. Will be going back.Lighting is warm, and not too bright. Wood and iron accents, good music that’s not too loud, and servers were attentive, but not overbearing.
I just hosted my best friends bachelorette dinner at kindered fare and it was absolutely perfect! Susan was so helpful in putting together a beautiful evening for us. We had the private dining room, with personalized menus and also were able to decorate with our own photos. Highly recommend for any special event or just because. The food was also amazing!
Came here with my wife and we had cauliflower soup, calamari, kale Caesar, two steaks, Mac and cheese, broccoli, and cheese cake. Service was good, server was very friendly and nice. Food was OK, soups and Mac and cheese had subtle seasoning we did not like and steak seemed pretty over priced for something I felt could have been served on a fajita. Salad and broccoli were probably best dishes we had. I really did not like the cheese cake. I didn’t expect much from a goat cheese cheese cake but even the crust was very poor and was almost inedible. Our server I give a 5, food is a 2 considering the price of the steaks. Close to fine dining prices with out the fine dining unfortunately.
We had our rehearsal dinner here and everything was absolutely amazing. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and the space/room was perfect. We never felt rushed or like we were waiting around. The bartender (unfortunately I do not remember her name) was amazing. She was quick, the drinks she made were delicious, and she always seemed to be around when our glasses were empty. All of the food was out of this world (my personal favorite was the baba ganoush flatbread!) and there was so much of it! We had so many leftovers that made a convenient late night snack for the wedding party. They also did a great job accommodating the different food restrictions. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an event space in Geneva or just looking for a place to have dinner. Next time we are in Geneva we will definitely be back!
Best burger ever! Their ketchup and garlic Mayo are both homemade and delicious. The fries are done with little chunks of garlic and perfect seasoning. My wife had their tofu rice bowl. Incredible! Calimari was great with pickled sweet peppers and onions.. Our waitress, Domino was super helpful and friendly. The hostesses were also great. Definitely be back! Fantastic place!
Third time visiting while vacationing in the FLX area and you never disappoint. Service is always great, the food and cocktails are consistently delicious and on point! We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was a great experience. You were able to accommodate my daughter’s gluten allergy and she enjoyed the calamari and her pork belly rice bowl very much! Wishing you all continued success. Thank you!
We regularly dine at Kindred Fare and always love it, but tonight was extra special. Our server, Ashley, knew that it had been a difficult day of car trouble and she was so incredibly kind and provided EXCELLENT service.Tonights pre fixe menu was amazing and one of our favorites ever! Each course was absolutely delicious. We were seated at the host table, which is right inside the front door and near the host stand. We actually like this small two-top because you get to see the hustle and bustle of the restaurant while still having a private dining vibe. I know some people dont like this location, but you can seat us here anytime. Thanks again for the hospitality. Well be back soon.
Food was good not great as the price on the menu reflects. The service was really good. We ordered the Calamari which was way over salty and mostly chick peas, served with aioli which added even more salt. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which was good but the details like it was served on an untoasted cold bun. The dessert was really good, overall the food was just decent.
Absolutely over priced. Ordered a burger medium and in my opinion it was near rare levels. Mac and cheese was gross my pasta was crunchy and overall lacked flavor. Rice was greasy and the tofu was square hockey pucks. I have no idea how this place is still in business charging for food that bad.
Very inviting casual spot with fabulous food & cocktails! Staff are very knowledgeable about the menu & takes their time to answer questions & make suggestions! They have vegan items and can veganize other dishes. The bartenders were so much fun to talk to & watch as they made some incredible cocktails. Highly recommend!!
Nice restaurant. Dog friendly seating outside. Server was great, cocktails were delicious. We ordered the poutine, salmon special and chicken sandwich. All were very good though entrees could have used some additional seasoning/salt. Miso sauce on the salmon was a little sweet for me but overall dinner was very good.
BLUF: Yummy food, great service, lovely decor. My friends and I visited this restaurant while staying in Seneca Lake for the weekend. We were originally supposed to be a party of 14 but downsized to 9. The staff didn’t give us a hard time, quickly rearranged our reservations, and got us settled in right away. The service was great except toward the end when we lost them for a minute (not a big enough deal to complain about though!). Every one of us loved the dining experience and would recommend it to anyone in the area.Pros:Great foodNice staffCleanCons:Lighting was fairly low; I felt like I needed a flashlightServer disappeared toward the end, but once again not a huge deal.Ordered:Friendly Fries (BUSSIN)Pork Belly Rice Bowl (BUSSIN BUSSIN)Side of Mac n Cheese (so so so good! I highly recommend going for the add-on option of scallions and bacon because it really enhanced flavor)Créme Brûlée (Ummm… eh. Idk why they added pineapple to the bottom. Totally killed it for me which was disappointing because creme brûlée is one of my favorite desserts)Overall, had a great time dining here. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and would visit again if I ever go back to Geneva.
Had the Monday night prix fixe special and it was spectacular. Its been a few years since weve been there and so glad we went back. The mixed drink was refreshing, we had the Mexican street corn, salad, Korean bbq ribs, homemade gnocchi, and deserts. All were 5 stars. Go Geneva!
Great spot in an admittedly weird location. Food is very good, creative, and executed well! Nice selection for a smaller menu concept and we tried 5 items.Bartender was friendly.Beer selection is just OK.Overall, its one of the better options in Geneva, and a good change of pace. Try it.
Edit: Thank you very much to the owner for responding. My wife and I enjoyed most of the meal so we will definitely be going back sometime for a second chance. The dining experience was good. The only issue which is a big one is the quality of the steak. My wife and I both ordered the market flank steak. I normally dont eat flank steak, I prefer ribeye or filet. We both ordered the 35$ 8 oz market flank steak Medium cooked. The order came out medium, but the meat was tough and chewy. My wife and I enjoyed everything other than the main part of the meal.
GO HERE, EAT HERE, DRINK HERE if you travel to Geneva, NY. PERIOD. I made a last minute reservation for my parents anniversary and one of the managers, Ashley, not only squeezed us in on the busiest night of the year, she cared to take the time to start our experience at kindred fare off with sparkling wine and an appetizer to make our celebration extra special. The service and attention dedicated to every guest that enters this space is unmatched in this area and Ashley, Susie and the whole team at Kindred Fare should be commended for the quality and standard they have set for farm to table dining in the Finger Lakes. I will be back and so should you…OUTSTANDING!
This place is adorable! It’s part of a little strip mall. Once you get inside the colors and decorations are fabulous and rustic. I ordered the house made pasta with duck confit, kale, white beans, almond parsley pesto, and pecorino. The price on the menu was $20 and when my check came it said $22, I said something and they quickly corrected the bill and they advised the menu changes often and so do the prices.I also ordered the timbucha kombucha turmeric rose which was delicious! My friend ordered the crab cake and the green salad both of which she enjoyed.
This place made it very easy to make reservations online. We arrived and were seated to the left in a side room, which was nice and less quiet. The regular dining was a little louder. Outdoor seating had heat lamps if thats your thing. I greatly appreciated the gluten free options for most of the dishes as that is hard to come by. I love the fact they utilize local farms for ingredients. The staff were attentive and enjoyable. The food was amazing and made me want to go back for more. I dont live in the area and will gladly travel the hour to meet my friends again to return to this establishment.
Even though they say “come as you are” and they say they can accommodate your needs they can’t apparently. Either the chef forgot and he put pepper for the second time on the steak or he didn’t clean the place where he cut it. Dear owner, please train your staff that if someone has a food allergy they should clean everything they use and communicate better between the staff
The service was amazing! The pasta that our server recommended was right on! It was delicious!! The steak not so much but the server took it off our bill even though we insisted she didn’t have to. The steak lacked seasoning it was not seasoned at all and was very chewy. It was ordered to be medium rare but was cooked medium which typically would be fine but it was chewy. Rib eye steak typically isn’t chewy if prepared correctly. Everything else we had was absolutely PERFECT! The calamari was probably the best I’ve had anywhere honestly and the affigato and espresso were perfect and delicious! Thank you!
Fantastic. My wife and I stopped here on a spur of the moment trip to FX and it was am incredible meal with helpful staff. The value is better than anywhere else in the area for the quality of your meal. The meat and cheese tray was great, the ribeye was great, the beer recommendation was great, and the in-house homemade ice cream was great. If you havent been here, you need to go. You wont be disappointed.
Ive eaten here many times over the past couple years and have never been disappointed. Came back most recently last night. The waiter was polite, helpful and funny. Food was DELICIOUS! I had the salmon and I highly recommend it. Not only is the food of high quality, but also of a large quantity. You definitely get your moneys worth. Love the atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back again!
I liked the atmosphere and service was great, however I didnt think the execution of the food that I had was up to par. We had a cheese plate that was great. I ordered a burger and the bun was way too big for the meat. It was on the dry side. The bin was way too soft, nearly soggy. The fries were crisp but way too much rosemary (I dont think it was mentioned on menu) and salt. Daughter ordered pizza. Very bland. Not salty enough to offset the very acidic salt. My dessert was AMAZING. I ordered a lime custard. I had a cappuccino and asked for it dry. It came with a trace amount of foam, essentially a latte.
This place was amazing. I will be returning. Everyone, from the bartender to the wait staff understood the ingredients and cooking method behind the dishes they served. The menu was one page, which means the cooks master the dish the few dishes they prepare and the produce are fresh and not sitting around for long periods of time.
Really great food and was walking distance from our hotel. We made a reservation, quickly got our table and drinks. Food was phenomenal! Although they seems very busy, wait time was not an issue. Waitress was very nice and answered all of our questions. One thing to note is the menu is very specific so if you have picky eaters, might not be the best choice.
The best!!! Susie and her wonderful team do such an impeccable job of not only providing delicious dishes but of upholding the highest standard of hospitality. They genuinely work with local farms and producers to source and showcase the best and freshest of the Finger Lakes region. A true farm to table restaurant with a range of excellent choices! We ordered take-out from them once a week during quarantine and it was our favorite treat of the week!
Went to Kindred Fare for dinner the other night was pretty good I had the fizzy lemonade it was so spicy love it! I started off my night with goat cheese & mushroom arancini was amazing I felt like I was actually drinking right out the tete on the goat!!! Then for my main entree I got the Pasta Du Jour and man let me tell you that was one good a** pasta it was so creamy and good in my mouth I loved the taste . The food and people were excellent My server was Justin great guy love his passion really a beep! I also really really really liked the busser Mark he had one of the most kick a** mullets I have ever seen great kid will definitely come back can’t wait to get my stomach filled again ;)
Came here for my birthday dinner (during quarantine) and was not disappointed!! Made a big mistake when arriving in assuming the location spoke to the restaurant (right off the main road in a mini strip mall), I will be sure to never make assumptions again. Food was very good with a good wine selection and a waiter we loved (thanks again, Gary!), so much so that despite never giving reviews we felt the need to give a 5 star. Thank you again, will absolutely be back.
///UPDATE/// Came back again after 3 years and have to say I was a little disappointed. I dropped this place to 3 stars. The poutine was great but, $22 for a chicken sandwich is a little ridiculous. We tried the sand which and it was under seasoned and average at best. We also had the salmon and while the fish was cooked well the vegetables and mushrooms it came with were drenched in oil and under seasoned as well. The cocktails remain delicious and they have a good wine list. They are dog friendly as well (outside only).Food was tasty, service was good and cocktails were delicious. The poutine was phenomenal. Not your typical finger lakes restaurant. All in all, impressive.
My wife and I loved our dinners. We had a cheese plate served with their mac and cheese as appetizers. For entrees, we had their pork chop and their salmon tempura. For dessert, we had the truffle trio. The food was fantastic. The decor is very modern with an industrial feel, of which I am a fan. You could see the exposed wood and brick making up the structure of the building, as well as into the kitchen. All of the employees seemed to genuinely enjoy working here. Additionally of note, the waitstaff did not needless over-check on us, which was nice. The dress was casual, with some people in T-shirts and shorts while others were in polls and long pants. The only reason I did not give a fifth star is that it was quite loud inside. Given the style and structure of the building, Im not sure this could have been avoided. Overall, I highly recommend.
The service was very good.Appetizers were outstanding. However our main course a burger and a duck were overcooked we asked for medium rare and got them medium. The burger was just ok. The server was very nice and helpful. She apologized, didnt charge us for one entree and offered us the dessert.
Three things stood out to me when I came here for dinner. First of all, our waiter was phenomenal. He did a great job and was very polite. Second, I love what they did with the place. Very cute and has a unique look to it. And last but not least, I had the burger with fries. Both were done to perfection and the hint of garlic in the fries was a new concept to me and I loved it! Great job guys!
The food and atmosphere are excellent! Ive traveled all of the world and this is one of the best restaurants I ever patronized. Once everything opens, I will return again to visit more wineries. More importantly, I will return to the restaurant for another round of great food experiences.
Stayed in Geneva for 2 days of business, and came here both nights. Food was good but not great. Hamburger was a little dry for my taste, and we sent a well done steak back, as it was supposed to be medium rare. We sat at the bar both nights, and the staff was great. They handled the steak issue with ease, and their mixology skills more than made up for what the kitchen lacked. Exceptional selections of local and special spirits.
5 Stars no doubt. Really nice staff. Take out of course since nothing else avail. right now. Their Cornmeal crusted Spicy Chicken is ridiculous. Soooooo good! Friendship Fries, Bacon Mac and Cheese and my wifes burger were great. Total comfort food and made at its best!
I come here weekly with friends for drinks and snacks, and its become a ritual that I look forward to. Brian makes excellent and creative cocktails, and is always willing to mix up something unique. The wine and spirits selection is excellent. Ive never had a meal I dont like, and Im addicted to their kale salad- it changes seasonally, but its always good. The Monday night prix fixe is a great option, and the staff is well trained in wine and food pairing. Overall, its a great place for healthy, fresh food and delightful libations.
This was one of the worst experiences Ive ever had at a restaurant. Server was rude and condescending. i asked if they had tomatoes and she said uh no??? we only carry seasonal vegetables so no we dont have tomatoes?? as if I should have known?Had reservations for 7 and sat at our table outside until 830 with only 1 round of drinks and fries. After asking about where our order was the waitress asked uh you mean your second course? its only been 29 minutes since your first course? (meaning our fries). Manager came out to apologize and proceeded to also speak condescending to us well everything is made from scratch so thats why its taking so long. you mean the cheeseburger and chicken sandwich we ordered? asked for check and left. will not give any more money than I already did to this establishment. super disappointed because I wanted to try this food but the staff turned me off so bad.
[COVID-19] Tables were spaced out well as some tables were “plant tables” to avoid patrons being seated there. Staff all wore masks and didn’t touch them. Not sure if they normally just keep the back windows open, but it was reassuring to see airflow with open doors and back.[FOOD] Yum!!! So glad we stumbled upon this place looking at Google Maps for nearby food venues. We had the Monday pre fixe. The fried green onion (that cheesy scoop *drool*) and deviled eggs (don’t leave the arugula behind) were delish!!! The mains we picked were the shrimp gumbo and fried swordfish. Both were great! The swordfish dish came with collared greens, which I typically don’t like, but they made it well—must’ve been the sweetness they added. We also got the spicy fried chicken to share. It made us way too full, but it was worth it. The cornbread skin was so crispy. It didn’t taste very spicy at all.[DRINK] Rainwater Madeira drink was sweet and sour. I haven’t had this liquor before but it reminds me of a sweeter pisco. The old fashioned was sooo strong, haha.[BATHROOM] So clean. Love the little tub like bathroom sink and Mrs Meyers soap ❤️[SERVICE] Personally don’t like to be asked how things are going but if that’s your thing: 💯. Helpful at explaining menu items and making sure we had what we needed before we asked (ie: extra plates, dessert fork).—ℹ️ 30-year old from NYC | prefers Asian food | 👩🏻🍳generally cooks at home | always looking for a good deal & yummy dishes | 🍷 semi-dry Riesling or Malbec/Merlot | 🥃 Japanese whiskey + Australian gin
My husband and I decided to have dinner here during our trip to Geneva, based on Google and TripAdvisor reviews. Sadly we were quite underwhelmed by both of our entrees, but my mahi mahi in particular. The fish and vegetables were very bland— I frankly expected better for $26. The servers were very polite and the restaurant did a great job at social distancing, but I can’t recommend this spot based on the food experience we had.
The service was great. Our server Jodi did a fantastic job. The food was very good. We had the Monday 3 course special. My wife and I got different choices and they all were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant!! We were told Mondays can be very busy so make a reservation. Luckily we arrived there before the rush. Definitely a keeper!!!!
The food is AMAZING! You might hesitate to try the place. It’s just outside of town. It’s in front of a few hotels.... Could it be good, or is it just another place? It is sooooo good. And the ambiance is a really pleasant surprise. If you’re going to be up here, you need to try it.
Best restaurant youll ever get to eat at! I went there to celebrate my anniversary & they went all out to make it a memorable experience. We decided to do the Chefs Table. We got to try damn near the entire menu. Their meats, cheeses, & fresh bread are stunningly exquisite. The muscles & cockles where to die for. The duck left me absolutely breathless. Even the Beef stew is so splendid. I dont have a negative comment on anything. The flavor pallets & spices had so much diversity. It amazed me that they just kept asking if we wanted another course. The atmosphere was complete perfection. The drinks where stellar. The service staff was warm, friendly, and very quick. This will be a seasonal regular stop for us & I will be bringing friends and family any chance I get. Do yourself a favor & dont miss eating here! You will never regret a meal, drink, or just a snackish social call.
Very nice atmosphere and staff. The gnocchi was delicious however, my wifes steak arrived before her martini which was ordered at the same time & still was not properly made. The steak was ok but, with a $45 price tag it should have melted in my mouth. It was on par with a strip mall steakhouse. After reading all the 5 star reviews I was hoping to have at least a 4 but, it didnt happen. This was a very disappointing experience.
Stayed at hotel across the parking lot and decided to try it. It was a pleasant surprise. An unusual menu, but so many interesting dishes to bring out the foodie in everyone. I went off the menu and chose the special which was a fantastic burger and the fries among the best Ive had. It was not busy and I sat at the bar, the bartender was helpful but not very outgoing. The tap & beer selection was small, but many local brews to try. Dessert menu followed suit, nothing normally seen on a dessert menu except bread pudding & ice cream - so I passed. Probably not a place to take the kids, but overall a delightful dining experience. I would certainly return.
Excellent atmosphere, huge selection of wines and other alcohol. Food came out within 15 minutes or less (it was a very slow night when a huge storm was forecast). I had the salmon on special; it was delicious but pretty salty (the potatoes). Salmon is usually kind of dry, but this was very moist. My wife had the falafel salad, which was even better but also a little salty, with too much feta cheese (no big deal). Overall very good, we would definitely come here again.
When I arrived at Kindred Fare with my party of 4, we were seated immediately by a friendly hostess. The restaurant design and overall vibe is awesome, we loved the open kitchen, and the bar was beautiful. One of our favorite moments was looking into the kitchen and seeing the impromptu tong tricks from one of the chefs - 10/10 on the food and the entertainment ;)COCKTAILS & WINE:We were all very impressed with the extensive spirits list, as well as how amazing and balanced the cocktails tasted. Great work bar team! The wine list had a nice mix of varietals and some beautiful selections from local vineyards. We ordered a bottle with dinner and then enjoyed a tasty selection of dessert wines that paired perfectly with their homemade strawberry shortcake and chocolate coconut tart!FOOD:Since we had been traveling earlier that day from our hometown of Saratoga Springs, NY, we were starving and decided to order family style apps, entrees and desserts. The home-made pasta app was to die for, the scallops we ordered were cooked to perfection, and the cornmeal crusted spicy chicken was lights out! Everything we ordered that night was so enjoyable, we ended up ordering additional food to bring back to the hotel.***THE SERVICE***Our server Anastasia is really what set off the entire experience for us. Once we were seated, Anastasia, greeted us as if we were all old friends, she gave us unparalleled service and attention. Everytime we thought we needed to ask for something, Anastasia was right there with it! She made us feel like VIPs and anticipated our every need. What stuck with us the most was just the way that Anastasia went above and beyond. We had asked her what some of her favorite local spots were in town, and at the end of the evening, she gave us a hand written list of vineyards, restaurants, and outdoor activities for us to check out while we were in town, it helped us out immensely and made our trip even better :)Thank you Anastasia & Kindred Fare team - we cannot wait to dine with you again!
The food is extraordinary. No kidding. I’m a flight attendant and eat around the world 4 times a month. The food is flavorful, fresh, and creative. I wish I lived near here. Please make this a chain and come to Syracuse. The staff is fun, lively fun, and very attentive. Ask for Gary. He’s amazing. Again this place is incredible.
My wife and I went to Kindred Fare for our 11th year wedding anniversary. We started with drinks and appetizers and split some diners so we could try more dishes. We had a great time and went back the next night. The staff was great on both nights, and on the second night they gave us some champagne for our anniversary and we sat at the food bar and had fun talking with the chefs and watching them work. The calamari is so good there we had it both nights! Thanks again to the staff for making the dining part of our anniversary so pleasant, well definitely be back.
Industrial looking, hip bit not too fancy. Prices are about 2-3 $. Very good selection of meat and cheeses. I had the braised rabbit pasta-amazing! Had an old fashioned since they make their own bitters. Little touches like this is what makes it a great overall experience.
Kindred Fare is a breakthrough restaurant for the growing wine region of the Finger Lakes. It has the feel of a french bistro mixed with a California wine country tavern. Casual, comfortable and with a menu that changes continually with the seasons and local food supplies. The best items linger and mix with seasonal and new offerings, allowing frequent visits for the locals. The bar has a great wine selection with local wines paired with European and world varietals that make a global wine tour possible on a range of offerings. Cocktails are good too. Locals enjoy sitting at the chefs bar, overlooking the open line so you can watch the creations as they are created. A Food Channel experience but with the chef willing to answer the occasional question as you watch the techniques. The restaurant is not located in a bucolic, lake-side location, but you wont notice that once youre inside enjoying fresh, creative food not slathered in butter and cheese. The chef here is an artist, raising the culinary tide for this region.
I have never had a dining establishment be so good and yet so bad all at once. When we went we were celebrating a birthday and so they put us off in the side room because we had about 7 people. Unfortunately we were seated next to a terribly loud larger group that felt yelling was the standard conversation volume for indoors. My wife sat next to me and even then I had to elevate my voice well beyond the norm to ensure she heard what I was saying, and thats not even mentioning the remainder of the people there.Cost was not accurate. It said 2 $ signs on google when it was probably more accurately three. The whole menu had a kind of whole foods alternative vibe to it. I had the braised rabbit which was unbelievably good. Other menu options were def unexpected.Drinks were wonderfully prepared, except Im not sure what old fashioned comes without a cherry but whatever. Lovely drink choices. Overall the wait on our food, drinks, and check coupled with the unacceptable noise level, led our group to deem our experience not great.
A rare Tuesday evening out in Geneva, we stopped at Kindred Fare. I had seen it a couple times before and was intrigued. We arrived just before 6 p.m. and good thing too. By the time we had our appetizer, a light and crisp crab cake with remoulade sauce, the place was mostly full. Our waitress was very friendly and offered good suggestions. The wife had a flatbread mushroom pizza. It was big enough for two to share and very tasty. I had beef tenderloin. Always a challenge to cook properly this one was done perfectly. The vegetables were delicious as well. We topped off the meal with Brazilian pave. A sort of pudding with coconut and fresh, locally sourced, berries. The menu is intriguing and we look forward to coming back to check out some of the other options.
Kindred Fare is a great place for a fun, relaxed, but semi-fancy meal. The food is usually awesome (occasionally slightly overcooked meat) and the drinks are out of this world. They also have tea (including matcha) and non alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere is also very down to earth/hip and the wait staff is always friendly. The only reason that I didnt give it 5 stars is because I have a dairy allergy and sometimes there arent many items on the menu I would want to eat and the kitchen staff doesnt always take care in removing allergens from food. They pre prep a lot of the ingredients (you can see into the kitchen) as Im sure most restaurants do, so they either arent aware or forget what they cooked the ingredients in.
So great! Had a delicious French Pinot for Happy Hour, my beet & squash salad wasscrumptious- the presentation was GORGG, my companion’s salmon was perfectly cooked and even my fries were fancy and tasty. Portion sizes were perfect and price was on point! Thanks, Jodi for great service!!
I enjoy this place. For me it is a unique place. If you get the chance you can sit at the cook area and watch as they prepare peoples plates and banter with the Chef if you want. He seems like a nice fellow and has a ready smile. I am trying to be low carb and they are always willing to modify the standard side to help me out. I travel to this area on business and I always look forward to at least one visit here on each trip.
The service was exceptional. Wait staff were very attentive and knowledgeable in the menu, specials and gave us plenty of time to place our order. We ordered the scallops, they were tender, crispy on the outside, well seasoned and the red pepper aioli was delicious. I think the serving size could have been larger. Our other guest ordered a beautiful fresh greens salad and the house pasta. The serving size was large enough to take some home. The wine list was one of the best I have seen in a restaurant in a long time. We ordered an Ojai Syrah and it was very good. Worth the trip from Rochester for a special occasion meal.
Enjoyed a birthday celebration with friends at this fine dining establishment. Although the decor is simple, the place is well appointed. Our server provided us with a full range of choices for food and beverage.I decided upon the special, with glazed salmon as the main entre. The selection proved delicious, including a specially prepared vegetable medley, prepared in a unique sauce.Overall, this proved one of the best meals I have enjoyed in a long time. I highly recommend this restuarant.
This is an incredible spot in Geneva. Dont be fooled by the location and appearance as a chain on driving in. Its got a wonderful atmosphere and more importantly, incredible food. My wife, who has celiacs, enjoyed the cornmeal Fried Chicken and GF Mac n Cheese which was to die for. They gave us a toast for our anniversary as well-nice touch. The service was incredible. You can tell this is a place that still cares about giving patrons their best service and products. They will remain in business a long time if they keep this up and keep serving great things. If you are in the area, definitely stop in!
My wife and I were staying next door at the MicroTel Suites during a tour if wineries and Kindred Fare caught your eye as it was within walking distance. An added bonus was the patio is pet friendly so we could bring our mini poodle.Food was good and our server was knowledgeble and friendly.
I was so excited when I saw this restaurant open up but my first time there was a huge disappointment. The restaurant looks beautiful and the servers were friendly but the food was awful. We started the night off with a $10 bread basket that had a had about six very thin slices of beard and a couple crackers. The bread was so so, cold and not worth $10! We got the cheese fondue with the bread, it was luck warm and had little taste. For dinner we ordered a braised beef shank, grilled rib-eye, and the mushroom risotto. The first thing to come to the table was the risotto, or what they called risotto. It looked like a big dry sticky mess of over cooked white rice. We sent that right back. The main dishes came and they looked amazing , but dont judge a book by its cover. The braised beef was over spiced and over salted. There was very little beef, but there was lots of beef fat and large chunks of unpeeled ginger and there was a large amount of grease floating in the bowl. The rib-eye I ordered to me done medium but it was between rare and medium rare. I forced myself to eat about five bites before I gave up. It was the most salty thing I have even eaten, I should of just bought a salt lick. The food was uneatable. One of the owners came over and she was nice and didnt charge us for the main dishes or risotto. Its sad, I really had high hopes for this place.
Wonderful experience at Kindred Fare, I had the Duck Carbonara and my sister had the burger. Wonderful choices and without a doubt will go back on my next visit to Hobart and William Smith. The service was impeccable and they have and excellent taste in ginger beer!🍻
This is the most beautiful restaurant in Geneva by far. They have a divine Pisco Sour, but an incredible range of cocktails, wines, and spirits. Their food is generally very good but I have had some bad dishes there. I ordered the duck ramen, which came lukewarm and was extremely oily. I recommend their cheese plate, which comes with generous portions of 4 or 5 cheeses, nuts, dried fruit, crackers and breads, and 2 spreads.
Definitely the absolute worse dinner Ive had out. The service was very slow. The menu was extremely pricey for the low quality of there meals. I played it safe and ordered a burger. At least thats what I thought. After waiting about a half hour for my burger and drink less sense I was never offered another. The burger finally came out. It looked quite delicious at first and smelled amazing. I then took a bite. The burger was still raw and quite bloody. The center was at refrigerator temps still. I ordered the burger to be cooked at medium. The waitress finally showed up and I sent the meal back. She stated dont worry you wont be billed lol. After the waitress a staff claiming to be the proprietor showed up. They were snarky and quite rude. After paying for my drink tipping the server I was stoped at the door by this so called proprietor again. She said email me before you come in next time, I laughed and walked out. How impersonal email me, are you kidding me.
I live in Portland, Oregon, rated by the Washington Post as best food city in the US last year. This place would do well here. the menu was intoxicatingly inventive (I had what might be typical cheese platter as the appetizer, but it was anything but, with fascinating options in both hard and soft cheeses, house-made breads and apricot jam. My entree was Sweet Potato Gratin. ???? Never would have thought of it. It was incredible, savory without the cloying overbearing-ness often associated with sweet potato or squash main courses. My companion had the seafood risotto. Perfectly made. I had a local red wine from the tap that put out any concerns that the Finger Lakes cant do reds. The place was built out with a cool urban feel, looked great, but as I know the folks who did it, Ill wont spend time discussing this. We sat at the bar, and the keep was friendly, engaged and knowledgeable. Ill go back.
Overpriced ...if I’m going to pay $18 for a burger & fries, I’d expect the bun to not be stale. When we asked for ketchup, the waitress brought it over in little bowls & it looked like cocktail sauce. The drinks were disgusting, it made my stomach turn, I couldn’t even finish the drink I ordered. One of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to!

2022-02-09Our friends took us to Kindred Fare as it has become one of their favorite places. For our first time trying it, they nailed it! Every item appeared cooked to perfection and there wasnt a single complaint at the table about the food or drinks. From the chicken, steak, salad, fries, matcha and peanut butter pie, everything was enjoyed. The staff was kind, service was prompt, and the decor inside was nice. You could argue it leans toward the expensive side, but everything tasted fresh and delicious and because of that, I do not shy away from recommending Kindred Fare for a night out!

2021-10-31Saw Kindred on a list of best places to dine in the Finger Lakes, and we werent disappointed! Kindred has great food and cocktails, at a reasonable price and with excellent service and ambiance. We ordered the fried calamari with chickpea to start, and the fried rice bowl with pork belly and egg as our main to share. Both dishes came with generous servings, and were great comfort food dishes after a day of wine tasting in the area. We ordered extra pork belly slices to top up the protein because the fried rice portion is so hefty. The cocktails were also well done and the restaurant has a great bar setup - I got their old fashioned and my partner had the Charlie Chaplin. The servers were all dressed up for Halloween in different costumes which made for a fun atmosphere. If youre looking for a good restaurant on a trip in the region, this should be on your list!

2022-05-31My girlfriend and I decided on the four course chefs menu with wine pairing. The food was incredible, and the wine pairings were spot on! The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere/decor was modern and inviting. I will continue to make Kindred Fare apart of our plans when we visit the finger lakes.

2022-06-16Every dish had some part that was wildly fabulous. But the interior can get really really dark which contrasted pretty heavily with the super sunny day.The charcuterie was not our favorite but the mustard stood out to me as amazing - as someone who loves mustard seeds but not normal mustard condiments. If you love mustard normally you may be hunting for the signature sharpness but I thought it was amazing (and was sad they dont sell it)We got most of the specials so I dont know how much would apply again. The salmon and pork we got were cooked delicately and very moist and juicy. The panna cotta had the perfect melty texture although the lemon was more .. Um... refreshing? than we would normally go for. The creme brulee had the right thickness crust with not too heavy on the lavendar flavor.

2021-10-10As someone who is gluten and dairy free, eating out can be a stressful experience. But my husband and I wanted to go out to a nice dinner for our honeymoon. Our waitress was so helpful in identifying what foods were safe and it was absolutely delicious. I had the GF calamari, halibut special, and chocolate tart. I haven’t been able to have a good meal out like this in a very long time. It meant so much to us thank you 💖

2022-05-29Every single thing we had was perfect. This place is a must. We came for a special occasion and so glad we did. The hospitality was just as good as the food too.
