I really wish I didnt have the rate this restaurant...This piece of whole in the wall isnt worth eating at...theres safety concerns as far as them not utilizing ppe/food safety, dont bother ordering because the same nasty lady with attitude isnt going to contact you if youre order isnt right she is going to give you what she wants even though youre paying for what you ordered. Theres sanitary concerns....someone needs to close this down, and stop paying under tables...

So far never waited long to order, small lines. I cant think of anything not to like. If you want real good Jamaica food and make you run back, then check it out. The staff love them.
How does not one member of your staff wear a mask? While they are talking loudly over the food?How is it 24 hours when you have about a half dozen customers waiting for more than 20 minutes for service? (I left after 20 minutes of waiting. Someone was there longer than I was.And the icing on the cake? The food isnt even that good. The original location on 135st is far better.

Newly opened carribean takeout in upper Manhattan. Fresh ingredients, flavorful spices. I had the curried goat and I really liked it. Portions are very very generous.
Food is excellent just slow service. So go early and they only accept cash. Oxtails and shrimp rasta pasta on point

2022-03-10Im a Harlem resident (25yrs).. so Im not new. I always pass this place but decided to give it a try. Sent my wife in after reading reviews of rudeness etc lol. My wife came out smiling so that was a good thing. Now onto the food... Although it a small hood spot, the food was great ! I admit, I was expecting fire in my mouth and a nose bleed based on other reviews. The jerk chicken was seasoned just right and the peas/rice and cabbage were the same but..the highlight was the Rasta Pasta (shrimp)...I have never had this dish before and I enjoyed it !!! My wife had no issues with the staff (ymmv) and the food was worth the $.

2022-05-03Excellent Jamaican food. As good as what my mother and grandmother makes. You wont regret coming here, and you cant beat the $6 lunch special (jerk,stew, or curry) chicken.

2022-07-07I stopped going to that spot because of the girl that takes the orders. I was in the area so I figured I would grab some food from there. There she was again acting miserable with an attitude. Smh. I asked for some oxtail gravy and she put a drop on the rice. If that was a problem I wouldve opted for a different type of gravy on my dry @## rice. Welp! Thats my last time ordering.

2020-09-18I specifically asked for White meat because I dont like dark meat in chicken, instead of them cancelling my order they sent me the dark meat anyway. if someone tells you what they want and you dont have it cancel the order I would not have been upset but you still send And charge me for something I didnt want. When I ordered and you seen my note you should have not sent it, just like I told you I didnt want cabbage which you abided by, you should of done the same with my order. Ive ordered through Uber eats with restaurants before and if they didnt have what I wanted they called me,so I dont understand why you establishment couldnt do the same. So if they can call alyou could of done the same.

2022-02-27I ALMOST COULDNT BREATH AFTER EATING SOME OF THE RICE AND IT WAS THE SPICIEST SAUCE I HAVE EVER HAD!! I ordered a brown stew chicken with rice and peas and how the hell a sauce is that spicy to the point of throat closing up and almost chocked! Why ? Because Iam allergic to spicy foods due to my stomach lining!! I cannot eat anything hard spice. My boyfriend had to help me Breath and he even tasted and he couldn’t believe it! Iam taking this to court and far! This is unexcaptable!!!!!

2021-10-25Today will be my last time eating from this place. I am a regular customer and everytime i go to king barka i am greeted with a nasty attitude from the cashier no matter how i try to be polite and nice to her. Its like Im begging her something when i am paying customer.. If the food is not ready dont sell it to the customer. I order steam cabbage as a substitute for rice and the cabbage was raw, hard and undercook to the point where it was not edible. Waste of money. I order the same meal yesterday and order it today and was charge a total different price by this lady today. If you dont want me to come or if you dont want to serve me just say so. I can live that. Will no longer support a business i am not welcome at.

2021-11-19Omg the food was so so so so good. I was working in the area and my coworker mentioned going to another spot. I said no there is one closer. I eat from there years ago. Im so glad that I remembered it was there and the food was delicious. The ladies serving the food had nice demeanor as well.

2021-09-24This spot was ( up until a few months ago ) People’s Choice. And yes, THEY were at time rude and obnoxious but, the food was good! So, I tolerated them. They closed and, I honestly missed them ( well, more the food than the people of People’s Choice).Was driving by this week and realized that the space was opened again but, with a different name. So, I decided to stop and check’em out ! I’m glad I did….. What an improvement in the (physical)space for starters. Next, the attitude of the staff….wow! Now for the food, it was good ( I mean really gooood)!Some of the reviews I read did not match up with my experience ( was there two day in a row and dealt with different servers each time). I hope that folks aren’t “transferring” their experience with People’s Choice onto King Barka. Yes, I had a wait ( l left off one star for the wait) but, does anyone know how hard it is currently to hire help ( let alone GOOD help)?! I say… give’em a break !I will be eating my way through the menu ….Folks, the overall rating you see for this restaurant is misleading; this is a must try !!KB, don’t let me down….!!!!!

2021-01-14I visited this location today for the first time. The woman who worked behind the counter with the short hair was extremely rude and unprofessional. She did not take a moment to listen to the order or even find out whose food went to whom. At one point, she even pulled down her mask and rubbed her nose while packaging the orders. I dont expect perfection from restaurants, but professionalism and being courteous to your customers should be the common values of a business. I will not come back to this location. Do yourself a favor and go to the other location near the Walgreens on 135th, theyre quick and pleasant.
