King Kullen in other cities:
Disappoint customer experienceI recently purchase a duck breast that I discovered upon arriving home had gone rancid. I contacted King Kullen immediately and was told to take a picture of the item with the label showing the amount and to bring that in for a refund next time I was there. However, when I got there and went to customer service, I was told that was not the standard process. I was then told that fine, I could choose a replacement, but only from the meat department. I said no, that I was told I would be refunded for the item that was sold to me that had gone bad. The customer service agent never even apologized. It was aggressive and confrontational towards me in a way that was very unwelcoming. The part that was the icing on the cake was that she finally says to me that the manager has made a 1 time exception, but that I would receive a gift card instead (I had said that would be fine since I had some items I was picking up, not from the meat department). What got me was that she made it seem like she had consulted the manager while the entire conversation which went for a few minutes she was speaking with me and at no time was a manager consulted. The fact that she felt like she needed to lie about fictitious management approval is mind boggling to me.Ive shopped elsewhere and had issues for less egregious than meat sold that has gone rancid (maybe something that expired a day before type of issue) and the customer service has always been genuine with an apology and forward thinking in terms of finding a remedy. I am genuinely surprised and disappointed that King Kullen treats customers this way.
I generally dont complain but this MUST be written about the deli department at this store on July 21, 2021. The grilled chicken Caesar salad: most of the green lettuce was worn out and the chicken tasted of soap. The black bean salad: way too many onions and also tasted of soap. The young man who sliced the liverwurst for my sandwich left on the outer casing, which was chopped in to pieces throughout. I had to pick out the pieces in order to eat the sandwich. Why didnt I throw it away? I was simply hungry and threw out more than half of the sandwich. I was so disgusted. I gave a single star because the staff was nice and the seltzer and fruit were just fine.
I go to this King Kullen a few times a week to stock up on juice and meat. Its a large store with a wide product selection. The milk area sometimes carries the stench of mud and horse feces, but it smelled decent during my last several visits. Perhaps the offender moved on to greener pastures. The staff there is decent, though some people there can be a bit cold and zombie-like. As far as self-checkout efficiency goes, this King Kullen seems to have the winning formula: functional machines. I believe there are six self-checkout registers and each of them always seems to be in operation when Im there.I appreciate King Kullens effort to reduce plastic waste by switching to paper bags, but Ive never been more miserable carrying my groceries than I am now. The bags dont have handles, so they can be difficult to hold. They also rip very easily, so you really have to plan out how youre going to bag your groceries or else youll be kicking them along in the parking lot (though I suppose you could just use a cart).Im sure Ill be back there soon for some more juice and some nearly-expired meat on the Managers Special sale. I cant go for too long without either of those.
Somehow even a supermarket seems more expensive in the Hamptons. Still, there is a wide selection of products and an unusually good selection in the cheese, produce, and organic sections (compared to supermarkets up island). Also, this is the only supermarket on the East Fork (though there are lots of pretty nice grocery stores). Yet despite basically being the only choice, they have definitely worked hard to stay clean, well organized, and to carry a nice selection. So while it does feel like you spend more, you can also get higher quality products.
I fell in King Kullen due to a puddle of water on the floor. Manager saw that I fell. Did not come over to see if I was ok. Customers helped me up. I turned to the manager and shouted to him the floor is wet. He ignored me. One of the customers that assisted me up also shouted to manager the floor is wet since he ignored me. He ignored us both. Not one employee asked if I was ok. He left the floor wet and I hope no one after me fell. Shocked to see this in a store where no one cares.
This location has a great selection of healthy products and organic produce.. It’s a pretty large store so there’s a lot to choose from.. On our visit the staff was quite helpful, and the bathrooms were clean enough to use.. Slightly over priced... But welcome to the Hamptons!!
Its the local food store. Its clean and well staffed. Cashiers are very nice and helpful. Stocking staff not so much. I had interaction with 3 different individual, fridged not inviting felt as dont ask any questions. The ine that i did ask was abrupt short and as a matter of fact response. Not many choices for food shopping in the Hampton everthing takes 30 to get to
Cant stand the people who work at this store. From the butcher Department seafood department cashiers everyone in that store is rude. I hate it the only reason I shop there is because Im shopping for another person. I come from Riverhead where we have shop and stop and shop right now. The rudeness would never make it here. I heard that King Kullen was bought out buy shop and stop well at least thats a step in the right direction. I feel you should get all new people to work there. Somehow customer service has gone by the wayside in this store. Ive never seen anything like it.
A reasonably priced big supermarket out in the Hamptons. They have kosher chicken in the frozen section. Which aid a great thing if you keep kosher. The kosher isle isn’t very impressive. But they do have kosher beef and chicken stock, and matzoh ball mix.The produce is ok and much better priced than Citarella, but then, of course the produce is of lesser quality. All in all, it’s the place to go if you’re on the area.
Overall, a better choice than the other Southampton area supermarket, in terms of freshness of foods and variety. However, the prices here are higher, and there is no savings card or any kind of loyalty discount incentive offered to shoppers, so we tend to visit the other market more frequently.
I am a private chef and local caterer therefore I have no choice but to shop at this store for some of the staples that I use. The employees in the produce department are the only ones that are even mildly amiable. The checkout experience is absolute misery! They do not have people to assist with bagging groceries. The checkout girls will stand there and watch you work then act annoyed when you dont bag groceries like a professional. Asinine and rude!! Its better to go to citarella and pay twice as much to deal with civil people!! I have spoken to management several times and they make it clear that they dont care whatsoever. Avoid this place at all costs!
Clean, Friendly(er) then S&S & Open in Space Grocery Market. Large Selection of Organics, Non-dairy Alternatives & Gluten Free items, at big box store reasonable prices. Check out is fast as long as there are no elderly people writing paper checks/ slowly counting pennies like their arms are going to fall off ahead in line. I Still prefer Provisions OG Health Food Market in Sag & Citarellas Ultimate Gourmet in EH/South Hampton better. Unfortunately they close way too early (6 & 7:30pm). So Old King Kullens is good for a late night FEAST
The store is average but the self check out lady is grumpy as hell. How do you have someone, who in a matter of ten minutes waiting to check out, yell at atleast two people walking in! She even called someone deaf...how did she know he was t? She needs to take some training on customer service.
King Kullen them is absolutely the worst grocery store in America rude and nasty employees that they bring over from Jamaica to work in the Bridgehampton store have never been so embarrassed in my life CNN employees cussing with each other in the cafe with their uniforms on and talking on the phone absolutely discusses me it is a filthy dump in Bridgehampton

2022-04-09I like it here. Not great with sales, but the seafood, deli, bakery & sushi sections really do great. Some staff are incredibly helpful, others have some weird vibes that is hard to describe. Like I said, Bakery is TOP notch! Seafood selection is just as good as the local seafood shops. Sushi chefs do GREAT.

2022-06-29Poor service and although this was bad service from cashiers was brought to the attention of both King Kullen Corporate personnel and store managers, the same rude cashiers are still in place. NOT customer friendly. The store is not clean, although it isnt abysmally dirty. Roaches were noticed in the produce section. Store has adequate supply of products but dont look for anything special. Bring shopping bags or youll be charged .05 cents for each paper bag, which are paper thin and rip.Parking is adequate but limited close to the store. Limited Handicap parking spaces. King Kullen is also not cheap. Much better deals are found elsewhere. Shopping experience is mediocre at best.Update: June 2022 nothing has changed except less employees.

2022-05-02Good local supermarket, for quality and product selection. Prices on the high side, as you would expect in Eastern Long Island.

2021-12-22When this store opened in 1990 I believe it was truly remarkable compared to the older store which was in a different section of the shopping center. It was really a trend setter with regards to customer service and selectrion as it was King Kullens flag ship store in early 90s.. It still is a good store but somehow some of the attraction and flare has been lost, especially with customer service. Overall still a good option for hamptons with decent service and selection. However the shopping center facade needs a refresh as it looks dated.

2021-10-26Why is everyone in this area so grumpy and irritable? Its not just the employees but the customers as well. I was born and raised here and am happy I no longer live in this area. The checker gave me a nasty glare when i left my items in the basket and I was told I had to empty the 4 items out myself, so sorry but in other areas its done differently. She could have been pleasant about it but its a choice to be kind isnt it?
