Very small venue, probably around 200-300 people max capacity. Went to a very intimate concert for VNV Nation and loved it. The sound was okay, there were a few issues while they were performing and they had stop half way through the set to fix the sound monitors. Other than that the show went smoothly and all the crew were very nice.
Went to Knitting Factory for the first time since it moved to Brooklyn & had a blast at their French House event. The staff (including security) is super friendly, music is dope & drinks are reasonably priced; its a bit of a younger crowd but they werent sloppy or obnoxious so it didnt detract from the vibe at all -- Ill def be back!
Fun venue, I enjoyed my time here. There is a coat check though I’m not sure if it requires cash or not. I wore a really light coat when I came to one of their Halloween shows. It’s a nice indoor venue and everyone around seemed to be having fun. I liked the show I went to.
I’m giving this place 2 stars because of the music and the great vibes inside. But be wary of of the short Spanish stocky security guard… he physically assaulted me be grabbing my drink out my hand and shoving me outside for refusing to pay to use the bathroom. I’m being serious, stay AWAY from that dude. If you are inside the venue and need to use the bathroom, do NOT step into the lobby they will try and harass you for a cover fee. Since everybody there was white, I’m going to assume that the security did not want people of my complexion inside their business. Which says a LOT
Had a ton of fun at the knitting factory seeing a band. The front part of the bar is really cool also, its entirely separate from the band room. The bartenders were very friendly and were attentive to who is standing there waiting for a beverage. I would definitely return here and am keeping an eye out to see what other bands I like will be a playing there. Its very close to the pod hotel which is in walking distance which was very convenient also.
Great place for concerts and parties! Two different areas, the stage or dancefloor, but also a more chill area where you can have a drink and chat! Ideal to hang out with friends that sometimes you dont know exactly what your mood will be! They also throw amazing parties once a month, called Take me out, where everyone dances until 4am!
Big shout out to the staff. especially the female security lady. she helped me find my phone . saved me a ton of money. this place is great. especially a great vibe ... music... comedy... the bartender was on point. security was respectful. i had a great 2 nights at the KNIT !!!! rock on !!!
We had been meaning to check out some of the live music shows here but didnt find an opportunity until this New years eve. We wanted something low-key yet fun to do for NYE , without the crazy awful crowds everywhere in Manhattan. The bands performing were Nothing, Weekend and another which we didnt know. Both the ones mentioned were amazing. The acoustics was perfect, the lighting left a little more to be desired as we couldnt see the faces of the band members mostly ! Drinks were priced very reasonably, bartenders were great, drinks were not watered down like at most places. Overall, couldnt have asked for a better way to spend NYE, especially if you live in the area
Went to a dance party there and it was super fun. Have to show proof of vaxx which made me feel super comfortable being around ppl. Female security guard was really nice! And I was allowed to bring in my own food which was really convenient!Only thing I wish they had was a coat check.other than that was super fun! Will go again!
One of the cooler smaller venues Ive been to. Its got a bar up front - so for those who havent bought tickets to the show but want to enjoy a drink and the view of the stage, you,can hang out out there. Theres another bar in the GA / stage area. I gave it 4 stars because it was a great overall vibe. I didnt give it 5 stars because the sound guys couldnt get it right. Opening band, you werent able to hear the singer and the drums were overpowering. The headliner had multiple band members ask to adjust their in ear monitor s ok und, bass sound and click track throughout different stages of the show. It is, after all, a concert venue.
Wish they had more metal shows throughout the year, its a great venue where you get to interact with most of the performers, drink prices are fair and their staff is friendly and efficient. If theres no events their front bar is always open where you can have some drinks and listen to good music with friends.
First time and I was impressed. This venue was extremely diverse and versitile. Drinks were farely priced, staff was friendly and organized. I had a night I will never forget full of incredible memories and honestly, I cant wait to go back. Comical bathroom graffiti photo to follow:
A great place especially if you know someone and can get in for free. Not too big and nice and dark. Drinks are very expensive like 20 bucks a shot! There are two sections the main bar area and the other more spacious main venue with a stage for concerts and performances. You can also rent the space for private parties and events. Meet some interesting people hear some good music have a few 20 dollar shots.
This place is awesome! Went to see Spencer Sutherland last night. The people were so nice. Love the setup, with the bar in front and the stage in the back room. The sound was great. After the show, they didn’t rush you out. We hung out in front waiting for the act to come out. The bounces were so nice to us. There’s restaurants everywhere, found a spot around the corner. Definitely a cool place to hang out!
Great venue! Super easy to find, in a great location (there is a pizza place across the street which is prime). They card, of course, but they let you in as long as you are 18 and they give you a wrist band so you cant drink. The bar was great but prices were a little steep, like $9 for a rum and coke. They also have a $10 minimum for cards so you will have to leave your tab open. There is a gender neutral restroom and it was clean enough. Overall, great experience.
I began going to the Knitting Factory in 2019 pre COVID and found the place to be my favorite place to go to in Williamsburg. The staff are all nice and treat you with respect. I especially like the fact that they enforce all of the COVID regulations by making sure people show proper identification and valid proof of vaccination which makes me feel comfortable going there. I speak with the staff there and truly appreciate how the Manager Tiana Greets all the people and knows many of the visitors by name which says a lot. It shows me that she values the people who come to spend their time and money at the place enough to get to know them on a more Personal level. It is for these reasons and more that I have decided to write this review and recommend this spot to anyone.
Went to see my friends’ performance there in their music space. The balance and sound was not good and I could barely understand what the singer was singing. The space itself was pretty nice as it wasn’t too packed. Just wish that they could make the sound system better.
Embarrassing venue to be honest. People running this place have no idea what they’re doing. A verbal argument broke out during the show I was at between two men across the room from me and instead of handling it directly with them, the owners turned the lights on and kicked everyone out and shut the entire show down. Definitely nothing I’ve ever seen before at any venue anywhere. I’ll never be back. Drinks are overpriced too.
Great venue to see emerging bands or more intimate shows with large bands. There are no balconies or huge stadium floors here, just a solid music bar that has a decent sized space for around 300 people. Service at the bar can understandably get crazy when shows are packed but the bartenders are friendly.
Awesome venue for dirty punk and cheap pbr...I used to see the Butcher Knives here all the time when I lived down the street. the venue is more or less a typical rock spot but they have a great lineup and a regular bar outside the stage bar if you need to chill for a while
No stools or chairs in stage area to sit and watch performances. Standing room only.Crowds of all kind was nice to see.Danny the man at the door was very cordial and sweet. $20 cover for the whole night is decent. Drinks super expensive. The bar separated from the stage is really cool to chill and just relax in. It has a bar inside too. Overall good experience. The mosh pit ppl seemed like they were really aware of themselves and never left the circle as hard as they moshed. In my day, moshing was all over the place and EVERYONE got hit, lol.
Went here for Emo Night on 2/8/19. The venue was cool for the music but expect a bunch of jerks to be working there. The only people who were nice was one of the bartenders and one of the bouncers. Everyone else had attitude or was rude for absolutely no reason. Especially the guy at coat check. If it wasn’t for the events they had there I would never go back because of the people who work here.
This is actually a pretty great space to see a band. I believe it only holds a couple of hundred people, which makes it great for seeing your favorite bands pretty much face to face. Theres a nice selection of beer and the crowd is usually okay, though sliding toward the unhip. If you sit in the bar you can watch the antics through soundproof glass, and though you wont hear the performance youll save yourself the (usually perfectly reasonable) cover charge.
Even though they have good shows, I have ever been in a place where they treat costumers they way they do there. Very rude and insensitive. We took my friend’s 12 year old niece so she can see our friend’s band and her first concert, we understood that tickets were sold out but they didn’t treat us with the respect we deserved and they were very mean. I went inside the venue to try to find someone to help us and the space was far away of being full, plenty of space inside, I’ve seen that place more packed. This is not the first time I’ve been there and I have a bad experience with the people that work there. That place sucks! and the people who works there too!
When they book well - its REALLY great and all the. bands have a cohesive feel unlike most venues that book a headliner maybe with an opener theyre on tour with and whoever is available then ends up thrown into the mix and its probably only noticeable to anyone whos at a few shows around the city or BK a week but otherwise most wouldnt notice or be bothered by itrarely complain about drink prices but they really push it charging $9 for 1 drink and might of all venues uses the grossest well whiskey that idk who can even pretend to drink because the awful taste..just to add salt to the wound of the steep priceeveryone working are great and always helpful / friendly and havent once had an issue HOWEVER ive seen several individuals have issues including bands who just played being not allowed back in after walking out to put gear away etc and try to walk back inside to have a door person get into a HUGE argument that begins with the individual being reasonable and explaining the situation yet apparently if you play but forget to grab one of the holy paper wristbands from inside - its been a zero tolerance type thing that escalates into massive arguments outside since in all honesty its ridiculous and never a situation or environment where bending that little rule will have no negative impact or even slightly from as I said only being an observer and if anything- the door person should at least have an explanation or why theyre being irrational because it comes off just absurd and gives a bad impression of an otherwise good venueyou can see the live music space and bands playing without a ticket also (no sound though) -through the glass wall behind the connected side room that functions as a standalone bar. Kinda neat if only hanging out at the bar
Is both a bar (the front) and a music club (the back, which you can actually see through glass behind the bar). small music and comedy acts are usually booked here. good light and sound setup. moderately stocked bar, $10 card minimum. easy access to the L train, and is near several open-late food places.a late Saturday night show had doors open at 10:30pm, the first act starting around 11:15, and the headlining act starting at midnight. set times were posted at the box office
We went out for the comedy night on Sunday, and it was the best time. First off, they let you bring in your own food, which was clutch for us! We came in early, grabbed some seats and hung out til the show started. By then, the place was PACKED, and we were glad wed come early. The women who host this comedy night are SO bomb. They are hilarious and bring a variety of other acts to the stage. We laughed until we were exhausted. A perfect way to end our night.
I have managed concerts for many years. The back room was rented by a promoter. We did not want to spend 20 at the door for a band we hadnt reviewed. The bouncer IDed us courteously and directed us to the front room to grab a drink and watch the performance through the window of the bar to decide. I have fired security in the padt for Not doing this. The bar was lacking some specialty items. Yet I myself would have hired the bouncer and bartender for offering other options and finding ways to entertain.
Free stand-up on Sun nights is unpredictable in quality/tastefulness but generally very funny. Be sure to arrive early (like 7 pm) if you actually want to sit (theres only 8-10 chairs). Otherwise, most people just stand for the show. Beer is decently priced, though on the night we were there, all taps were down and they wouldnt give me a glass for my bottled beer.
HIDDEN GEM IN THE CITY!!!So my wife and I were finally able to secure a babysitter for the evening and we had nowhere to go on a Sunday... I actually googled and found this place to be a great comedy club AND it was free... And even though we live in the Bronx, we figured wed have nothing to lose...and at the very least, we could spend some time together... BIG SURPRISE... The place was packed!!! And the crowd wasnt just diverse, but they were OPEN, if that makes any sense... I mean, Im 42 and my wife is 33, and we never felt awkward in any way... Standing room only... The comedy ranges from pretty funny to just entertaining, but the environment, the drink (that is NOT REQUIRED for you to purchase), and the people are TOP NOTCH!!! Well be back!!!
If you know what youre getting into, this is a great venue. What youre getting into: a small intimate concert hall in Williamsburg. Great view and opportunity to interact with smaller bands at a reasonably low price. Theres a bar in the concert area, but theres also a separate bar with a windowed view into the concert area if you dont want to be too close or you want to have a conversation. The catches (in quotes cause if you know what youre getting into, these will be expected) are that it can be very loud, the drinks are a liiitle more expensive, and the coat check will take forever if you dont get into line quickly.
Been here a couple of times. Once just for drinks in the middle of a Saturday which had a fun crowd. People playing board games and the bartenders were fun and engaging. Went another Sunday night for stand up with Hannibal Buress. Cant complain about a free show and although it was packed, the bartenders still knew what they were doing and service was great.
I Loved my friends performance but not the sound system. The knitting Factory always had a gritty look back when it was in the city. And keeping true to that fashion, the place is dark, and has a backstage feel more than a traditional performance space.Again, the acts that they bring and some of the DJd events are extremely talented. I almost feel like any underground artist definitely sees the knitting factory as a bonus to have on their musical and comedic resume. I can agree with that notion. However, get some better lighting and sound, clean up the space a bit because cmon its the knitting factory, you all have longevity, and you can find the finances to invest back into the beautification of the place. 🤷🏾♀️ Just what Id do both as the manager/events coordinator and as a patron.
I love to go here for shows, and have been here several times to see some great music - but its a bit far from any public transportation (which feels even longer in the winter), so Ive always had to take a cab. Worth it, though - the bar is great and the quality of the productions are always excellent.
Went here for a disco event, free with RSVP however showed up late and accepted the fact of a cover. However once at the door the little angry man said that there were no more tickets and i was told to sit at the bar. A few moments later another party purchased tickets and i just didnt understand why. This little man was very angry and was having a bad day. The cover was originally $10 however he amped up the price. #angryman
Went on a Sunday night for comedy. Although the comedians were good, I wont be back. It was a very uptight and odd scene in the audience. I felt like I was suddenly at a college frat party listening to gangsta rap and trying not to have someone spill beer on my feet. Why?
I was invited here by a friend who had two tickets to Afropunk. I had never been before and I fully enjoyed myself. The bar/venue is separated in two by what seems like sound proof glass/ wall. The front end has a bar with good music and the back has a bar, stage and nice dancing/viewing area. The Knitting Factory was overall very nice. As for the event by Afropunk (sponsored by Zumiez and Fender), it went off very well. Great mix of genres battling it out. I think what struck me most about the event was the mix of races and people from all walks of life, in one room, enjoying themselves. People enjoying rap/trap one second, and rock/metal the next...I didnt see that coming. But it was refreshing. I highly recommend The Knitting Factory Brooklyn!!!! I will be returning here soon.
Ive been able to enjoy the Knitting factory on many occasions. They always have up and coming artists and always are able to put on a great show! They have a multi-faceted event space that they put to good use for multiple events in one night! That is pretty great and increases diversity.
A relatively small venue, the Knitting Factory is a fun locale for rock concerts. I just attended the final show of Japandroids 2016 tour, which was a total blast. The Knitting Factory is very relaxed with security, after youve been checked once. Crowdsurfing is not only prevalent, but encouraged. The location has a small but strong selection of beers and what seemed to be a full bar.
I came here for a screening of the banksy film exit thru the gift shop. we squeaked in even though there were no more seats to be had and really enjoyed watching the film. the concept of this place is great with the separated bar with a viewing pane of glass. not sure the vibe would be able to touch the crowded in, building might burn down feeling of the old knitting factory, but ... at least theres still some semblance of the old landmark in the lineup that gets booked here.
Oh, Knitting Factory. After seeing a gazillion shows when it was in Manhattan, the new space cant help but feel like a little bit of a letdown. The booking is great, and sound system is pretty stellar, but the boxy room is just awkward, and the bar area up front seems to always fill up with an obnoxious crowd. Fortunately, the sound is pretty protected.
I was here for Hannibal Buresss Sunday night comedy showcase. The drinks were reasonably priced but be warned theres a $10 card limit. The comedy show was free and I got to see really funny people. Since Hannibal worked on SNL for so long he has lots of funny friends that drop in. On my visit I saw Moshe Kasher and Natasha Leggero.
The Knitting Factory has some of New Yorks best up and coming talent. Keep in mind that it will get crowded in this Tribeca to Williamsburg concert venue. The doormen are some of the most efficient and funny Ive ever encountered. Hannibal Buress hosts a Sunday night comedy show thats FREE and worth going to. Get there around 8pm if you want good seats!
AMAZING!!! ESPECIALLY WITH THE CONCERT I SAW THIS EVENING!!! I LOVE THE INTIMACY OF THE VENUE AND THE STAFF WAS FANTASTIC!!! I WOULD GO AGAIN AND I AM GOING AGAIN!!!!ANTHONY BROWN & GROUP THERAPY W/SPECIAL GUEST JONATHAN MCREYNOLDS...TURNT IT UP & OUT!!! #BLESSINGSONBLESSINGS #SECONDWIND #BOBBOUNCE #WORTH #IGOTTHAT #REAL #IWILLTRUSTYOU #CYCLES #MAKEROOM #IMNOTLUCKYIMLOVED

2022-05-14This is a quaint and adequate venue that accommodates about 300 (estimate). There are two bars, unfortunately on my visit the bar located in the stage area was closed so we had to navigate back and forth to the bar near the entrance. The bartenders were very nice, friendly and fast. Security is thorough and respectful. The green room leaves something to be desired and could use a drastic make over. Overall I do like this venue. They have some very good Hip Hop shows.

2022-06-07Went there with a friend to see Meresha and their band. The music was cool, First time experiencing something like that. The bouncers were friendly and the staff was helpful. The overall vibe is really nice, open space, clean stage, we got to meet the performers and that was fun, my favorite was the guitarist who was very laid back and overall cool dude who had some serious slash vibes to him, also met a local there who helped us talk to the lead singer, really nice people will go back sometime. A+

2022-07-20A great little venue and one that will be surely missed! Excellent, friendly staff, good drinks, and good music. Only downside is if you like to talk between sets youll have to yell because they keep the house music so loud. Also the restroom is a tiny three stall unisex situation, but I think that adds to its charm.

2022-06-02The music is good but if your “all-gender” bathroom doesn’t have toilet seats then it isn’t all-gender.

2022-05-10Place is a bit dead even when it is alive. In addition you may run the chance of running into very rude workers at the front door that may not allow you to gain access to your personal belongings such as wallet and coat unless you advocate for yourself in front of these rude individuals. Do as u will.

2022-06-24Cool place to jam out to some music of choice. Well depending on who’s playing that day. Sometimes it can be a bit to crowded
