This is easily our new favorite winery. An experience unlike any other long island vineyard. All the staff was extremely knowledgeable and kind, and the wines are very good! The view is beautiful, grounds are plentiful. Its a true hidden gem. It is absolutely worth the drive. Cant wait to go back!
The lady with the pink hair needs a vacation. She was not happy being there . She was at the front and charged $10 to get in . She then was at the bar and had no interest in explaining the diff wines. It was as if she was telling us there diff wines in one breath . It was disappointing .
We really like the wine from here. We came in the summer & in the winter. Both times super different experiences. We love the open field leading to the cliff view. The trees around the cliff offer a nice shade and the calm quiet in the winter is also alluring. This is our family go to, kids can hang while the parents libate in a beautiful atmosphere.
A lot of people are complaining about not being able to bring children to a winery....children...to a winery...I dont think thats a valid complaint. Im thankful for it. It makes for a much better, relaxed experience. Thank you!!I have been several times and Toni deserves a special shout out. She seems to be the glue of the place keeping everything together.I have never once had a bad experience. The only complaint I have is Amanda the manager(?) Seems snarky and disappears for entire visits. The bluff is wonderful with great views. I could easily picture a marriage there. Too bad Im already married or Id defiantly get married there!I cant recommend this place enough!! Great wine, great staff!
This winery was super cute and had delicious wine! They were very strict about the reservation though. You aren’t allowed to have any children and they were very strict with the time limit for your seating. I would definitely come back, but it wasn’t my favorite vineyard.
I live 1 block from this winery and when friends visit I always want to give them another try since they are so close. So we walked out only to discover that you must make a reservation online to enter and there are only a few reservation slots, despite their enormous property size. They also charge a $10 per person fee just to enter regardless if you are drinking or not. They also don’t do tastings anymore??? so you must buy a bottle! I’ve never known a winery that hated business more than this place. To make things even more exclusionary, they don’t allow children (not even infants) and they don’t allow dogs. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else on the north fork. The experience will be less pretentious and better value for your money.
I heard through the grape vine this place was great, and I’m happy my girlfriend brought me here. Her parents own a liquor store so they’re technically wine cellars who know their stuff. We recommend the Viognier. Not sure how it’s pronounced but that’s how it’s spelt. Cheers! 🍷(it’s actually a white wine, but there’s no emoji for that. We should have different shades of wine emojis like they did for the people and hand emojis)
Beautiful building and setting, but completely ruined by the policies and staff attitude! We had a indoor reservation and were told upon arrival that because we had 7 people in our group we would have to sit outside in the rain at picnic tables. When I complained about it, they said we could sit inside but would have to sit at separate tables, which we complied with, but then later scolded for standing up from our uncomfortable stools because this was “mingling “. They had no problem with this when standing in line ordering wine and spending our money! On top of a five dollar cover to get subjected to this abuse! Absolutely destroyed what could have been a lovely birthday afternoon.
We were very disappointed, went for a tasting and the staff seemed very annoyed to have to serve us. We each ordered a wine tasting and received half the pour that the parties around us got. For spending $15.00 for 3 tastings barely 0.5oz, this was not worth the price.
Beautiful location and building. We biked here from Greenport by renting bikes from Dans Bike Rentals. Its on the water and many folks walked out to the water from the tasting room. Fyi, theres a person at the entrance to turn away limos. Also, if you stay at HarborFront Inn, you get a coupon for 15% off bottles and 2 glasses of wine for the price of 1. In the summertime theres also a wine stand outside right by the water :)
Place was very pretty and wine wasn’t bad but they were very strict on everything and were unaccommodating about our small group of 6 people. We followed their rules of only having groups of 4 so we sat at 2 separate tables next to each other but we were told not to even stand near each other, it was considered “mingling”. We would Have sat outside to avoid the hovering staff but the weather was poor. So sadly, We were heavily monitored inside even when we werent close to anyone else just our family! Only go if your by yourself or one other person. Bouncers at the door like a night club and your policed inside. So much wanted to like this place since we frequent greenport all year round. Oh well Plenty of other places that treat you like valued customers.
My husband and I had a get together here for our friends birthday. The wines we tried we really enjoyed and the place is beautiful however the experience was marred by how disgustingly rude the hostess was. We had a last minute addition to our party and were told upon entering that there was plenty of space outside and that the extra person wouldn’t be a problem. The hostess had other ideas and seemed to be personally offended by this addition to our party. I can honestly say that she was one of the nastiest people I have ever interacted with as she rudely declared that my husband never tried to call the winery even though I sat next to him when he called and no one answered. Her tone and demeanor were that of a parent about to spank a child. The only reason we didn’t turn around and leave was because we were there to celebrate a friends birthday and didn’t want to ruin the entire day.I am shocked that the management of this facility would allow this woman to treat paying customers like belligerent children. We wanted to buy some bottles to take home but talked ourselves out of it because we don’t want to support a business that thinks it’s ok to treat people like this. There were numerous empty tables outside and the place was closing about an hour and fifteen minutes after we arrived so this woman’s behavior really was not warranted. Maybe she should have been more concerned about the woman who fell over drunk outside. This type of behavior makes it hard to feel bad for businesses during this pandemic. Shame on you!
Walked in on a weekday to an empty winery with a decent sized group. They said I need to make a reservation although every table open and that I needed to do it online. The reservation is $10 per person... to sit in an empty winery...guess they are trying to make up for lost business. There are too many wineries nearby to be upcharging so much and forcing reservations. On busy Weekends understandable. Empty Weekdays, next.
I dont know why the average for this place is under 5 stars but this place is beautiful! Awesome place for a date if you are looking for one :). The COVID protocols are a little confusing and may be unnecessary (no flights and bottles only outside). But otherwise wowww.. there is a beach very close by so you can go there after you visit this winery to continue your date! Pick a picnic table closer to the water for a great view and more shade in the summer.
Good wine but they wouldn’t let my party of 6 order more than 2 bottles of wine without proof of reservation. They confiscated my groups empty cheese board platter (from a previous winery. They wouldn’t let us use 6 chairs even though all the tables in the patio area were unoccupied. A beautiful spot but their staff was extremely unaccommodating
They charge you a 10$ per person reservation fee just to be there, it’s not put towards use at the winery. Super shady. Other than that it’s a very pretty winery with a gorgeous view of the water but not much atmosphere. There was poor/cold service and the wine and food is ok. Might as well buy a bottle of wine and drink it at the park or beach. It’s a beautiful location but there are much better, more friendly and fun wineries to visit
12/11/20 A great big thank you to “ Toni ” lovely girl who helped us out today! We had a really wonderful day at the winery! We walked down to the water and took pictures. We bought three bottles of wine based on her recommendation! ( She packed what we did not drink beautifully for us to take home ) We had cheeses again based on her recommendation along with salami and prosciutto! She was very attentive to our needs and so kind! We had a great day today! Thank you “ Toni!
Beautiful winery. We went the first weekend since the re-opening from COVID-19. We felt very safe and had a great time. There was plenty of space for social distancing and reservations need to be made so there were never too many guests. Face masks are also required inside their building. This was my second time there - definitely my favorite winery on Long Island for their delightful wine, customer service, and beautiful scenery / architecture.
Reservation was required with a charge of $10. I didn’t pay attention to the details when booking my reservation and was pleasantly surprised with a Kontokosta stemless wine glass (to keep) when we checked in. This winery has implemented some safety process upon check-in, ordering and seating as most of the wineries have. There were no options for tastings nor wine by the glass, but I do understand this is a different time they are operating in. We ordered a bottle of their semi-sweet Riesling and really enjoyed our time overlooking the LI sound. GREAT EXPERIENCE!
We absolutely love Kontokosta! They’ve adjusted a little for COVID but everything was smooth and we had a wonderful time. As long as you make a reservation (which the website clearly lays out for you), they’re accommodating as always. They also have delicious snacks - we were delighted to order my absolute favorite cheese! Can’t wait to come back again soon.
Note this review is for a visit during Covid-19 (July, 2020). Great spot with a really relaxed atmosphere. You need to make a reservation online as they ensure they dont get overcrowded and unsafe. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. Outside is a bunch of picnic tables amply spaced. Theres a short walk to the bluff (as they call it) where you can see the ocean and see Connecticut on a clear day. Really yummy snacks (I highly recommend the fig dip and goat cheese) for reasonable prices. Wines are a decent price for the setting I suppose. Around $20 something for some refreshing whites. The Rose was very good as well.
Had a fantastic time at this winery this summer. The views by the cliffs were breathtaking and love that you can take you wine glasses out on the grounds. Glad we made the trip out to it. Definitely an interesting space and a great place to take in the scenery and sip wine.
Try the Anemometer Red, or the Cabernet Franc. On a nice day, walk down to the edge of the property overlooking the Long Island Sound. Its one of the few waterfront wineries on the Island. Their wine club is better then most, and their tastings are more generous then others. Definitely worth a visit. Youll probably want to return whenever youre out there.
Stunning view, arguably one of the best on the North Shore. Their tasting room is large and very comfortable, and they have food from various North shore retailers to nosh on. I found their wine to be pretty decent, but not as good as some of the closer wineries. Their service was A+, though, and that goes a long way in a winery. Their pourers were not pretentious or rude, but very down to earth and willing to explain anything you asked about the wine.
May have a nice view but staff is extremely unhelpful, unpleasant, and unwilling to help. I was finally convinced to come back by friends and we called ahead time to ask when they would stop serving and I was told 5:45. After driving out of the way to go to this specific winery with a great view, they said they were no longer serving for the night. I explained that I called earlier and the person who answered the phone explained they served by the glass until 5:45 and it was currently only 5:15 and the worker turned us away. The staff does not want to do work nor earn money. Would highly recommend skipping this winery on your trip, plenty of others great ones that you can and should try where the staff is receptive and make it a good environment to be in.
Prettiest views of any vineyard in North Fork. A little pricey per glass, and they keep odd tasting times. Eh no tastings from something like 3 to 6. Wine is alright, I wasnt blown away. Unfortunately its not dog friendly. That said, they do a good job highlighting this fact to the public. Its worth visiting, but I wouldnt make it my main stop.
We came here as a family spent quite a bit of money and still got treated poorly. Yelled at and sent home for “congregating” again we are a family. The manager came to us with an attitude and when we tried to explain she tossed us out and got owner. They charge you to basically breath in their space. $10 per person reservation fee to be at an empty winery and treated poorly. Go to osprey. Save yourself the cover charge and judgement.
I wanted to like this place so much, however, the staff was very short and rude that it made the experience very unpleasant. They created a very unwelcoming atmosphere and because of that we will not be returning. There are so many better wineries in the area. Do not waste your time.
I was very disappointed with the service I received at this winery. I was there this past Saturday at around 5:15. I approached the counter to request a glass of wine and two separate servers completely ignored me. The first server was a blonde female server who made eye contact with me and then went to serve another couple. Then a male server with light brown hair also made eye contact with me from down the counter area and refused to acknowledge my request. He then proceeded to help a larger group of girls who arrived after I did. At that point, I put down my menu and left. Completely unacceptable! I do look young for my age but to be completely ignored is unacceptable! In good consciousness I could not give them my money! Don’t go! It’s a shame because the grounds are really pretty but spend your money on another winery!
Would give 0 stars if I could. Have to pay $10 per person just to get in...this doesnt go towards your bill. They are selling bottles only, no tastings...The food is packaged blocks of cheese and meats from the local grocery store. Save yourself $150 and just pack a picnic and go to any park/bluff on the water, basically the same thing except way cheaper and no rules!!!
Good, not great, wine but a beautiful location. You can purchase a glass and walk out to enjoy while overlooking the sound. Location deserves five stars, but there are some issues. First off, price per glass is way too high for the quality of wine. Because you cannot consume bottles of wine on the premises, you are stuck overpaying ($50+ for four glasses). Outside food is also prohibited, so picnicking is not an option.
It was a pretty day when we went last week. It,was super empty, a group of 6 and a group of 4 were there when we arrived. They seemed to be done tasting and eere enjoying the atmosphere. We arrived and sat at an empty spot at the tasting bar and the server came over asked if we wanted a tasting or glass. We split 1 tasting to try a bit of everything. She didnt spend any time with us explaining any of the 3 we tasted. Which I thought she shouldve. Then we decided on 2 glasses while we relaxed a bit. We then bought a bottle, which we found out cant be drank on premises, nor can it be taken outside unless you are leaving. Ive never heard of this policy and Ive been to wineries all over the world. Im giving 3 stars because its such a pretty location.
It was a clean environment. I enjoyed it and bought 2 bottles of their fine wine. One thing I did not like was that as I was driving at the speed limit on that road (10MPH), one of their employee was tail gating me and even honked at me as if wanting me to speed up or move out their way. Really? Uncalled for. Got me in a bad mood before even going inside the winery. Owner should have a talk with this irresponsible employee.Other than that initial encounter, I had a very nice experience!
Most beautiful views. If you visit the many vineyards of the North Fork, you will find that this one has the best views. It is on a bluff overlooking the Sound. They have tables and chairs scattered on the large property so you can just sit and relax on a summer afternoon. They also have a lovely building if you prefer to stay inside. We attended a wedding here, and, aside from the humidity that we incurred that particular day, the wedding was just gorgeous.
Absolutely awful. We were visiting from Florida and hired a driver with SUV to drive us around. We were aggressively thrown off the property without even entering the winery because the SUV had a sticker with name of the limo service. We were here for an important family event destroyed by bizarrely aggressive behavior by security guard. While we were there an uber drove right in with no problem. Horrible experience. Three other wineries we visited were wonderful
Staff and service was just okay, but the wine and the scenery made up for it. The inside of the barn like winery is beautifully decorated and it opens up to a spacious grass field which you can take your wine out to. If you walk a bit further down youll see the water, which is just breathtaking.
Would give zero stars if I could. Got rejected because my husband and I were with our 2 year old son. Snobby hostess said babies and kids are not allowed in “because of covid”. I do not understand this policy whatsoever as we all had masks on and this place should be ashamed of themselves to discriminate a family when they’ve always allowed families to visit in the past. Covid is not an excuse to pick and choose your clientele. This place ruined our visit to the north fork especially since we were looking forward to it during these hard times. I will never return and make sure everyone I know never returns.
The rating goes mostly for the location, which is beautiful. I can see myself coming here to relax with a book or headphones under a tree or by the water. I agree with other people that prices are add up quickly if you order more than one glass of wine. For the price of 2 glasses, you can buy a bottle of wine instead. The only problem is that you cant open that bottle on the property. No outside food or drinks are allowed meanwhile there are quite a few picnic tables outside. Service was just okay.
Location is great. Its very close to the ocean and you can walk out back to the sound. Beautiful. The place itself is nice, modern & clean. The wine is ok at best. For the money you can buy much better Napa, French or Italian wines. Service was ok. Bartenders dont pay much attention to whos next in line. We were overlooked by an over zealous 20-something customer who had to purchase a bottle. Very rude on her part but the bartender should have noticed.
I recently visited Kontokosta with my family and friends as the first stop on a birthday winery tour of North Fork. I’d been there previously with my husband and had really enjoyed the wine and views, so I looked forward to introducing my loved ones to this winery. We arrived in 2 cars (5 ppl each) at 11:45 on a Friday morning to a nearly empty tasting room. When we arrived, we were told we could not do a tasting because they could not accommodate more than 6 ppl. at a time. Then they declined our offer to split up into 2 different groups of more manageable size. When asked why, we were told their tasting room was too small and too busy and that was their policy. (There were only 2 other couples in the tasting room at the time of our visit—certainly not busy at the time.)We wound up getting a glass of wine each and bringing it outside to the bluffs instead. The wine was very nice and so was the view, but the extremely unhelpful tasting room attendant and ridgidity of their policies left us all feeling disappointed and put off. For some in our group, this was their first winery visit in the North Fork—not what I’d wanted my guests to experience. We went on to visit 3 other wineries that day—2 of which were much smaller than Kontokosta—and none had issues (or a poor attitude) about accommodating our group of 10.I’m glad we were able to end the day on a high note but I was soured on my experience at Kontokosta and likely won’t be back. I know the rest of my group felt similarly.
We try to visit this winery every year. It’s beautiful and the wine decent. My husband and I came with two other couples, and were dropped off by a car to avoid the possibility of driving under the influence. We were rudely confronted by a server upon walking in and loudly advised we weren’t welcome because were dropped off. She was extremely rude, acting as if we were a giant, disruptive bachelorette party. (We were all 40 year old parents trying to enjoy a few minutes of adult time). We were all embarrassed at how loudly she was basically scolding us in front of the other patrons. Obviously we won’t ever be back.
This would be a good venue for events but I cant recommend the wine tasting experience under current circumstances.Felt to me like theyre trying to make a killing from the covid restrictions. $10 entry free per person, which includes a simple glass with ugly print and production flaws. No wine tasting, just sale by the bottle because covid, no tap water just bottled for $4 because covid. Snacks are pre-packed snacks from the supermarket with huge markup that you have to buy because, you guessed it, covid. Most people dont seem to mind though because it makes for nice Instagram posts, showing off the experience.Well, admittedly, after half a bottle of wine youre much more likely to have a jolly time no matter what.
Horrible experience ever! Aggressive doorman refused to let our group enter the property with our car. We decided to walk in and we’re stopped agin to find out they would not provide any service for absolute no reason. The owner makes his own rules and he can keep his rules and vineyard to himself. I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great time with family and friends. There are plenty of great options in town!
This place is terrible. No tastings from 3 to 6 - “the volume is too high to do tastings after 3”. Wine is meh. Lots of attitude by the staff. When walking in at 5, the guy at the door made it clear “no wine after 5:45”. Could you make people feel more unwelcome? The Sound overlook is beautiful, next time I’ll just go down the street to see it.
I’d give a zero if I could. Got denied here because I have my 4 yr old with me. It’s 5pm on a Sunday night. it’s not like my kid is going to disturb the vibe or disrupt the drunk brides from enjoying their “special day”. We all need to relax in this new Covid environment and realize that parents with kids like to get out of the house and enjoy themselves as well. My 4 yr old isn’t the problem. It’s the people who refuse to wear a mask, disrespect the rules, get wasted, and drive away in their cars that you need to worry about.
I would argue that this is one of the best wineries on Long Island. The wines are consistently good. Every. Single. One. Their philosophy about production is as little human interference as possible. The atmosphere is very relaxed and quiet. Not like the famous wineries. A bit more up scale than other wineries. Plus the view is amazing!
If I could leave a zero star review I would. We rented transportation to drive a group of us around so we didn’t have to drive. As we pull up to the vineyard they told us that vans were not allowed in, only cars. We offered to get dropped off on the side of the main drive and walk up and yet we’re still denied. This vineyard encourages drinking and driving and the customer service is horrible. Don’t waste your time or give them any money.
Wines are ok , beautiful views, food not allowed unless you purchase their overpriced snacks. Not allowed to purchase bottles unless your a wine club member. You can order by the glass which ends up being expensive if you want more than one glass. Staff was very unpleasant. Much better wineries nearby with friendly staff.
The doorman was so aggressive and abusive towards our group. We showed up in suburbans (not limos) and were told we could go in but won’t be served. Then declined that we could possibly have a reservation for a tour of the vineyard (which we had confirmed). We tried to speak with management to which we were denied. One of our friends is pregnant (obviously not drinking) and was forced to walk all the way out of the vineyard to the entrance to meet our drivers. The inability to speak with anyone and find a solution is unspeakably poor.If you are trying to be responsible and have no desire to have a drunk driver this is not the place for you.
Beautiful setting and walkable from the village if youve got half an hour spare.Knowledgeable staff, and a good selection of cheeses, meats and snacks to go with the tasty wine. The five reds for $12 was particularly good value. The merlot especially was a massive hit.I imagine that in the heat of the summer overlooking the garden or vineyard, itd be even more enjoyable.
Do not go to this winery. Complete and utter rip off! Plus we were practically tackled when we attempted to leave the premise through the back door to view the water. We paid $14 per 3 tiny samples. Total rip off! They do not allow you to purchase by the bottle. What winery doesnt allow you to purchase by the bottle???? Staff was utterly rude. We are adults 50+. Totally unacceptable!!!
View is perfect. But very unwelcoming. Before you enter the building you got a printed list of things prohibited at this place: pets, dogs, food, chairs etc. and in addition would be notified verbally twice by the guards. I wonder they didnt check the bags or screen like at the airport. Very much differs from welcoming neighboring places. The wine was ок
Stopped in with the plan of buying a bottle to split outside only to be told that bottles were take out only and we had to buy by the glass. 4 glasses of wine came out to $56! It got worse when they poured a tasting sized pour, not a full glass. We only stayed because we had family visiting, otherwise I would have gone elsewhere immediately. Very pretentious environment here. Went to Osprey Dominion the next day and got a BOTTLE of their red blend for $12 which was $3 cheaper than the $15 half glass here. A winery where you cant have a bottle of wine??? This place is a rip off, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
10 ladies from Texas. Left the St. Regis for the day to visit this winery. They would not allow us to come in because we had rented a 10 passenger van. Really? An employee greeted us in the parking lot & told us vans were not allowed. I can understand a tour van or bus. Forget this place. No fun! Clearly they aren’t motivated by sales.
A gem on Log island’s North fork! A stunning tasting room and even more breath taking grounds situated on the Long Island sound. They have some exquisite rosés (still and sparkling) and a fasbtatsic bold red family. A favorite for sure. One of the forks best along the wine trail... be sure to grab north fork chips to go along with your wine! Be sure to walk outside and walk to he bluff for a stunning view of the Long Island sound.
Very poor service. They’re rude. They obviously don’t need any business by the way they treat their customers. Not to mention the wine is not very good and overpriced. If The bathroom is any reflection of how they clean the kitchen I would not recommend anybody put something anything in their mouth from this place. I would never recommend anybody to go here.
We drove out to another winery to start and the staff was insanely welcoming and nice to the point that stayed there for 3 hours and had a great time this staff was cold and like didn’t even want to bother with anything we ended up leaving and went to a winery down the block which was also amazing so it’s the people who run this place very stiff and not welcoming and staff which for them sucks being that there’s so many other choices around I don’t write reviews much but I’d skip this one if your doing a winery tour
A gorgeous place, beautifully designed with stunning views over looking Long Island Sound. This experience is quite unique. Grab a bottle, walk their lovely property out to the bluff, and fall into pure bliss. They also have a couple of varietals that arent often available at most vineyards; Chenin Blanc & Syrah.
The wine is partly good, sometimes not at all, but everything is very expensive. The service is definitely bad and totally unacceptable especially for the otherwise exemplary American standards. I can only agree with the last reviewer. We prefer to invest our money elsewhere in wine.

2022-05-18Definitely the best view of ant winery on LI. Huge lawn with picnic tables. Weird that they make you place a $5 reservation, there were only 4 other people here when we came but they let you keep the wine glass at the end which is cool.

2022-04-23Charged $5 a person with a reservation which would be fine if you had a server. We walked in and it was a free-for-all seating situation, no menus, and you have to wait in an additional line for beverages and food. Not a great set-up when there are other great wineries with better service in the immediate area. Wine was mediocre. Go for the “sea-side” view, but go anywhere else for a fun time.

2022-01-02Good wine, great view even on a windy day like today. Would recommend if you are taking a trip out to Greenport.

2022-01-16Went with 12 women, Got there and the ‘cop’ met me and my daughter at the curb of the parking lot and put a sign in front of us and said we couldn’t bring in anyone under 21( a 2 month old) that it was policy. So my daughter said it was ok, and I reluctantly went inside with the rest of the women. Once inside, the ‘cop’ called the Hispanic woman I was with a ‘trouble maker’ after she said this place has a lot of rules. It’s a way over-priced, self serve winery. They said we couldn’t move our tables together for our large group so we had to shout across to each other after waiting on a long line to buy the really expensive wine. The food they serve is marked up Trader Joe’s and of course, really expensive. There are so many family friendly wineries here on the north fork that I will be skipping this one. The design of the place is visually appealing, but that’s it. They need to get rid of the cop at the door. He really turned us off.

2022-04-064/2/22Was one of my favorite wineries about two years ago but today when we walked in the door and were greeted quite rudely by a girl that wanted $5 for a reservation fee? There were maybe 10 people in the whole place? Then a $18 taste charge if we wanted to buy a glass or a bottle of wine? Needless to say we walked out and probably won’t go back… what a shame m!

2022-03-22Wanted to love but the lady who was there for the wine tasting just kept telling us about prices and the more we taste the more itll cost. My dad asked to read the label and got so much attitude. We just wanted to learn a bit of the wine and enjoy the vineyard but were only there 15mins total. Left very disappointed.

2021-08-197/18 Wow. My first visit to this winery and I leave a member. That wasnt my intention but the wine, the staff and the setting just had me wanting to come and be a part of it. I think its biggest lure on a summer day is being able to wander the grounds or just sit at the many outdoor chairs and tables and take in the scenery while sipping a glass of their wine.1/24/21 ln November Amanda had called me to tell me that my winter shipment couldnt be released because the delivery company couldnt confirm the delivery address, and that is after three years, and l need to confirm my address now. I believe due to Bluetooth and my car many of my messages go marked as read and l never found the voice mail till sometime later. I figured during the pandemic there would some relaxation of policy and l would take a trip out to the north fork and pick up the wine and straighten out the mailing. So today I visited another vineyard that Ive been a wine club member for over ten years that had two seasonal portfolios waiting for me. After receiving my wine l figured Id call ahead before driving out to the near end of the north fork. I was greeted pleasantly by a women who asked my name and after searching she said she had no record of me. After further search she found that Amanda hadnt heard back from me so she cancelled the delivery attempt, and terminated my membership on 1/23.Now Im not faulting Amanda at all, shes just adhering to policy, but 1/23 was yesterday. Wouldnt one think in this time so deep in a pandemic that businesses would strive to keep a consumer base? I was in my car, and after the girl on the phone had told me that Ill admit I was a bit flummoxed and l responded okay? it was nice doing business with you.My point is do you not need the business, yesterday, 1/23, was the date you told me, Im less than 15 minutes away. Why wouldnt you offer to put the three bottles back in the box, Ill drive out there, we get my address straightened out, and l leave with my wine and my membership intact.

2022-02-02Great wine & beautiful location, sadly I cancelled my weekend reservations for our party of 5 as well as cancelled my long running wine club membership. Upon confirming my reservations online I noticed a blurb stating all guests must be fully vaccinated. I called Kontakosta to make sure this was current information and to inquire if perhaps they would take proof of a negative test. Unfortunately thats not an option per the owners. They offered to ship my wine order instead of of me picking it up however since I am clearly not allowed to enter the facility, I politely declined, requested to make sure I am not charged for the order I cancelled and to completely cancel my wine club membership. With over 40 wineries on the North Fork I will take my friends and my business elsewhere. In the meantime, I will continue wear a mask, test weekly and know that I have natural antibodies from having Covid through bloodwork while enjoying wineries where we are welcome. Just glad I noticed the fine print since Kontakosta did not notify us we are in not allowed to utilize the property and or wine club benefits. If not reading the fine print on the reservation and showing up just to be turned away it would have ruined our itinerary for the birthday girl. We now have reservations elsewhere and will enjoy our day without a Kontakosta stop

2022-06-13Regrettably I left a tip because that’s proper for the Help. But $46 for two below average servings of wine is shameful. $10 to inter with no line or waiting. $18 for a questionable wine being tasted for the first time. No sampling available, No conversation with the server. Will not be back.
