This is the best Japanese kitchen supply company ... many selection of beautiful plates and many kind of knives they carry. When I buy the knife name service is must have. Very personalize service I get there. All my customer telling how beautiful all the plates we put food on. Makes my customer wants to come back our restaurant. We live in Florida but it is worth to travel to New York and choose beautiful plates and excellent knives.
Korin has extremely unique knives, the people there to help you are very knowledgeable about their products and the prices are definitely fair. They also have cute gift sets, plates, unique wine glasses and decorative plates. They also have knife sharpening service, which is done by a professional, so I see chefs coming in and out of this place for that service.
To say that Im extremely satisfied with the quality of service provided, isnt strong enough. I came to the store to have my knife sharpened. I was pleasantly surprised by the relatively small price one has to pay for highest quality of work. My knife is as good as new, perhaps even better. The staff was also very welcoming and I will definitely be returning in the future.
Great selection of professional chefs knives. Amazing to see staffs so passionate about there job and also knowledgeable on almost all the knives in their store. I do all my knife buying here and dont go no where else. Tip: professional chef and cooks get a discount on all their knives, simple sign up for a free membership. I believe its a 10% discount.
One of the finest professional stores in Manhattan. For all professional and amateur chefs and all cooking enthusiasts a trip to Korin is a must! Superb selection of products and truly knowledgeable staff. Spacious show room and pleasant vibe allows you to think about your purchase. The only issue you will face is which knife to choose!
Fabulous knives!! Staff is super knowledgeable and will guide you towards the knife that you prefer. They dont sell according to ticket price, they want you to be happy with your choice. You can try them out, as they place them on a counter for you to hold and see if it feels right. Theres also lots of dishware and supplies for your kitchen, theres a sharpening service - you can see their sharpener at work on the ground floor in a Japanese knife sharpening setting. Be sure to ask about their unbreakable glasses! Theres a line of glasses (wine, water, whiskey, etc) that are near impossible to break and they demonstrate it by hitting it against the edge of the shelf! Scary but amazing! This store is one of the citys gems!
Amazing knife store which is synonymous with Japanese knife sales in NYC. The prices may be a little higher than some places (although they do offer a 10% membership discount for people in the industry), but the service is unparalleled. They also have a professional hand-sharpening service for very reasonable prices.
Love them!super amazing quality Japanese knives and tableware tea pots cups plates mats this place has it all i love that they host special events on premises a few times a year featuring knife makes from japan man this place is amazing must check out there is no other shop like this.
Wow! This place is incredible. Wall to wall knives and the best sharpening service in the country. You should read more about Chiharu Sugai and know what youre getting when you have your blades sharpened. Fantastic staff. Some knives are ridiculously good. Way out of my budget, but you start to see the differences in quality and build of the better knives. They have a free sharpening class twice a week as well.
Its like I died and went to heaven! Except for the prices lol but thats another story. Make sure to take advantage of the industry discount membership if you work in hospitality or are in a culinary school. The knife sharpening service is stellar and only $15, $12 something with the discount. And when I say stellar I mean it. They take your western style knives and sharpen different angles depending whether youre left or right handed. And they are razor sharp. Literally! As far as their knives for sale they have an enormous collection of Japanese brands. Both traditional Japanese (sword looking kitchen knives), and western style knives. Nenox is the top of the line for the western style knives topping out at over $1,000. But they do have many more reasonable options including their house brand (still exceptional quality and not cheap ~$300).
I took a wide variety of knives to be sharpened, from handmade Japanese all the way through to mass produced German knives - they all came back perfect, they had even shrunk wrapped the handles to protect them through the process and reshaped an edge for a small knife that had been dropped.
If youre any bit serious about your cutlery, then Korin is your mecca. This place sells the most legitimate Japanese knives that you can find in the city, let alone the country. Right in the heart of TriBeCa, Korin might be a small store, but it has more than enough to offer.I came here the other day to buy a new santoku knife. Even though I dont really cook, a santoku knife can always come in handy, and worst comes to worst, this knife will make a ballin clothing tag cutter.Once you step inside, youre greeted with a bunch of Japanese tableware. Head to the back of the store and youll see all the knives youll ever need in life. From your $100 base knife, to the $10,000 rare knife, Korin has it all. Even better, they have their knife master, Chiharu Sugai, who will sharpen any knife that you purchase here for free. I ended up settling for a Togiharu santoku knife, which, to my luck, was 15% off. In the end, it cost me just shy of $175, which is not too bad considering all the other things that they have for sale.Theres a reason top chefs come here to get their tools. From Top Chef Kristen Kish, to your regular Joe, Korin has something for everyone. The staff here is nice, and more than willing to take time to explain every single detail to you. Just make sure to bring you wallet because things here do not come cheap. But then again, you get what you pay for.

2022-07-24One of my favorite shops in all NYC. If you’re crazy about Japanese plates, bowls, ceramics and such, this is definitely the best place to go. Furthermore, the store’s high note is its knifes selection, as well as apparels, such as sharpening stones. All my knives were purchased at Korin and I highly recommend it to everyone who is in need of a professional kitchen knife.

2022-08-01This review is a bit late coming, but this place is excellent. I was lucky enough to to be shown knives by Vincent. Vincent is a wonderful, knowledgeable, and over all great guy! I visited Korin to purchase a knife with money that my grandmother left me in her will. Vincent engraved my knife with her name on it, and it is currently my most prized possession. I am truly grateful for Vincent and his help that day. I would strongly encourage anyone to shop for knives here. They have an incredible selection, quality makers, and god tier customer service. Thank you Vincent.

2021-11-19Superior knife sharpening. Very friendly and attentive customer service. I dont know about professional cutlery, but these seem to be the most impressive, intimidating, gleaming, most bowel eviscerating selection of knives Ive ever seen. If I need my appendix taken out, to hell with NewYork Presbyterian, Im coming here. Oh and they have a very nice selection of Japanese pottery as well. So if you need a container to put your appendix in when theyre done youre all set!

2022-03-09Absolutely wonderful place!!! Yuka (hope I spelled it correctly) was wonderful at helping my son pick his first Japanese chef knife. And Mike... where to begin!!! What a wonderful chef/teacher/knife salesman. Me and my 2 children learned so much from his experience. Thank you so much. We will be there hopefully sooner than later to help my sons knife collection grow.

2022-03-10Dropped off a Shigefusa Kogatana for sharpening after the knife chipped in the kitchen sink. Top-notch sharpening, done reasonably quickly. Item shipped back to me promptly and was packaged well. Korin does not disappoint. Also, Huiqin is very cute.

2021-04-10Korin caters to both the restaurant trade and the home chef. Beautiful Japanese tableware and a great selection of Japanese (often expensive) knives. The knives here are the same quality as those at Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, but more expensive — if you don’t factor in the cost the plane ticket, of course. Staff is friendly and helpful, whether you’re buying one place setting or fifty.
