Great food and customer service. We are from Philadelphia and wants to try kuttanad restaurant on our trip to NY. We ordered porotta, chicken chettinad, kappa biriyani and chicken biriyani. Everything taste good, but porotta is a must try, because its very soft and really big in size than an average porotta. I think chicken chettinad needs little more salt( may be my personal preference). Overall very nice experience and tasty food with decent quatity and quality.
The food is laced with such exorbitant amounts of peppercorn that it tasted pungent to bitter. I ordered the fish curry n Chinese potato fry. The fish curry just burnt everything from my throat to gut with not a spicy kick, but rather a pungent heat, with no other flavors whatsoever. That went down the garbage in 2 bites. There is nothing ‘Chinese’ in the potato fry - it’s just potatoes with onion n again a lot of peppercorn (gives a burning sensation). Half the potatoes were fully cooked, the other half were a bit raw.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! We ordered from here a while ago so I dont remember our entire order, but I remember that we ordered fish fry and some parottas. Both of those dishes were absolutely delicious. The fried rice could improve a little, a little much masala. However, despite just that, everything else is amazing and more importantly authentic! IF YOU WANT TO EAT AUTHENTIC KERALA FOOD for a really great price, this place is worth going to. As authentic as Ive ever seen or eaten. They should be proud that they are a Kerala restaurant in the US 😊
Overall was pretty disappointed with this restaurant. We ordered take-out dinner with Lamb Biriyani, Butter chicken, a vegetable curry and malabari porrota. The only thing that tasted good was the Porotta.Butter chicken tasted like old/rubbery/ not at all fresh chicken. Vegetable curry smelled like it was already gone bad. On top of that they failed to give us rice even though it was confirmed over the phone that rice would be included. When we called back to complain, they said they “ran out of rice”!! Never going back to this place again. In an area surrounded by experienced/ well established restaurants like Santoor Restaurant, Kerala Kitchen and Taste of Cochin, this restaurant has a lot to learn from its competitors. First time impressions last the longest and this definitely was not a good experience.
Customer service needs improvement. Ordered online. When we called to see if the food was ready the guy who answered the phone said the online order is not working. Then proceeds to tell us he does not have beef fry, mutton and a few items we wanted to try. When we picked up the food the guy recommended we never got salad, yogurt raita etc with two orders of biryani. The food was salty. The beef cutlets were good. Don’t think we will return. $200 of order and no raita?! Disappointing
We wanted to order Onam Sadhya food and they stated to us that they are not doing it this year. Really? This is a festival celebrated all over kerala and around the world where there are keralites, and you are not serving up food for the celebration? Arent you a south indian restaurant? That is not good business, and it can hurt your business. Is it too.much work for you to do? If thats the case then why do you even run a restaurant? Typical kerala person trying to run a restaurant, and doesnt want to work, but wants to make the money!. EXCELLENT!!
Kuttanadan not only serves the most delicious Indian food imaginable, but their staff is ultra friendly and their prices are more than reasonable. In addition, their portion sizes are higher than what I would expect. I couldnt give a higher recommendation to this restaurant and their friendly, accommodating staff. They care about their customers and serve delicious, gourmet Indian food.
Came back in February and its just as phenomenal second time around. I will never order from a different Indian restaurant again. Truly authentic, so fresh, perfectly seasoned and everything was so tender. We had the chicken tikka masala, pork roast, chicken 65, parota. Everything was delicious. This place needs more supporters.

We ordered the chili beef, chicken chetinad, beef roast, duck roast, and parotta - I can tell you this, it was amazing! Fresh and soft Kerala parotta. It was worth the hour drive and paying two tolls! It reminded us of back home in Kerala, we will definitely be coming again!
I went to this restaurant for the first time today and took out a few dishes. I am so impressed with the taste, freshness and quality of the food! Not only that but the portion sizes are very generous to say the least. I will happily be eating this food for a few days, lol. Ill definitely return, I want to try many of the other items on the menu ;-)
We ordered rake out food from this restaurant. All side dishes including thoran, sambar, beef has sugar and lots of it. The chicken curry is full of broken chicken pieces. Uses soybean oil which is gmo. Sugar is gmo. Cheap food sold at high prices. Can’t trust any Indian restaurants. Owners want to make quick money at the expense of the health of the people. Food in these restaurants can cause diabetes or make it worse.can damage liver, cause cancer etc. The health department should close these restaurants because they are harming the health of the people. The 4 and 5 star reviews here are fake. Buyer beware. Don’t be misled by these reviews. These are killer foods.RESPONSE TO THE OWNERPlease note the owner is telling lies. We did buy takeout from this restaurant. The owner has no conscience. The soybean oil and canola oil is gmo, the sugar you add to everything is gmo. You are a liar and a cheat. DON’T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT.
One of the best authentic Kerala food you can get. Kuttandan style is different from the malabar/travancore style and this place stands unique. Try the mango fish curry for the perfect taste. If not for the local food, a must try food include malabar paratha, beef, yuca-beef (kappa biriyani, elum kappa), spicy fish curry.amd malai chicken. Perfect for party food and tasty biriyani. Must visit of you are in the area and good weekend food for family 🙂
Home run, slam dunk this place scores high on anyone looking for authentic spice infused South Indian cusine. Tucked in, mid block location this small restaurant flares up with some unique dishes from the eastern spice coast. I ordered things I dont usually find on a Indian restaurant menu. Got a pork roast, chili beef, chicken stew and a mix vegetables kurma. Vegetable dish was just to calm out the guilty conscious of my carnivore instincts. I also order some fresh made paratha to accompany my dishes as well. The food just blew away my senses. The pork roast just perfectly cooked with bits of sliced coconut, caramelized onions and melody of spice to tingle your tongue. The chili beef was like a Indo- Chinese fusion that delivered mixed flavors from Tianjin, China to Thrivulla, India. The chicken stew was delicate with large pieces of thigh and breast meat with a balance of roasted spices. The vegetable korma was the healthy dish that balanced out the meat pounding curries. The flat bread poratas was huge and super flakey with multiple layers crusted in. The porata reminded me of a cross between a croissant and tortilla . Its just perfect to scoop up the spicy gravey from the curry dishes. If you cant take the southern heat I very much suggest to order the food mild. All in all a surprising new contender that is heating up the neighborhood with amazing spice influenced dishes that Christopher Columbus sailed around the world to acquire.
Wow my family and I just went to this restaurant for the first time tonight and it was a bit late and the gentlemans that work there took such a good care of us and I told him that I will give him a good review if we like the food and guess what we love it it was the right amount of flavor and spice we will order from them againg for sure 👍

One of the best Indian restaurant in NY. The food is very tasty especially the garlic man, Kothu porotta, pototta, chicken chilly, biriyani etc. The services is very good, staffs are amazing and affordable price. I highly recommend this place those who like Indian food.
Horrible .. dont believe this 5* rating must be their own people.im talking on behalf of more than 6 people whom tried this resturant..They cant even make a tasty culet. People who have bought biriyani and Chicken curry has said doesnt even taste good. I do not recommend this resturant for anyone.

2021-06-13Ordered from Kuttanadan for a large catering order for a party >50 people. From the day we met to place the order to the day to the day of the party, customer service was great! Food was delivered properly, on-time and with a hot storage option. We ordered the ‘BDF’ beef fry special for the first time, and all our guests loved it! The fish and beef cutlets were also a hit with everyone, and was the first to be finished- we should’ve ordered more! The price was right too👌🏽Thank you Jubi, Febin and team!

2020-09-27We tried their Beef fry, Chicken Chettinad and Kerala Porotta for take out. Their Porotta was very soft and much larger in size compared to tiny ones you get at other south India restaurants in the area. Good quantity of food as well.Definitely coming back to try more items from their menu.

2021-01-04This little gem has become our go-to restaurant for authentic South Indian/Kerala cuisine. We have ordered takeout from here on multiple occasions and have been pleased with the quality of the food (not salty or oily) and the flavors. They serve up food that tastes just like homemade. Among our favorite dishes have been the beef fry, avial, thoren, moru curry, Malabar parotta, & chicken tikka masala (though not a true Keralan dish). I had the opportunity to chat with one of the owners and chef and he was a nice fella who cares about what he produces. This is as close to homemade as any South Indian restaurant as I have had in the Queens/Nassau County area and I look forward to coming back and stocking up on enough food to have leftovers for a few days.

2022-03-10As a fellowship organizer for my church, I find it a pleasure and a delight to work with Febin from Kuttanadan. Febins management and Anishs flair for cooking South Indian dishes takes you back to the motherland, Gods own country [kerala]. Every dish is phenomenal! My only recommendation is to broaden your venture into places like Hicksville where currently there is no south Indian restaurants.

2020-11-06The food at kuttanadan is spectacular. Everything is fresh and on point. I advise to call ahead of time to place your orders so you dont have to wait. Indian food takes time and skill to make and this restaurant shows that.
