Im torn here between a three and four. Just a note this is strictly for the restaurant and no other part of the resort. The service was good- staff were polite, attentive - the entrees were not. You can get the same food in the lobby bar. The lobster ravioli was a bit bland and the pasta was hard. The halibut was tough and flavorless (although the rice underneath was good). We really enjoyed the warm burrata dip and one of the salads. Reason I am giving it a four is because they very graciously split the salad for us since we said we were splitting both apps. Acoustics arent great, the restaurant was pretty full and it was very loud. Its nice to have a fancy restaurant on site, but it seems more convenient than anything. It seems as if the menu was made for the lobby bar and the stuck the menu in a fancier holder and put it in the restaurant. Also, I had to ask for a beer/cocktail menu, they only provided a wine menu (and sodas were 4 dollars and no refill was offered!)
I made a reservation here for a dinner for my birthday, weeks in advance. When we arrived, the host with greased back hair was incredibly rude to us. We decided to eat in the lobby bar instead which was fine. The wait staff were very nice. But, when we got our bill, everything on the bill was $1 more than what was stated on the menu! Im surprised my husband caught it. Really sneaky.
Been here before and previously service was great, prompt even when busy. This trip though it was terrible. We were traveling with a baby and each time we asked for a high chair they either forgot or gave us a broken one. We consistently had drinks or sides that were never brought to the table. For the price, the food isnt worth it. For a group of 5 were talking $125 or more for a breakfast buffet that most of the time was cold, and burnt coffee. The only things going for it are the views of the lake and that its the main restaurant at the resort.
The biggest disappointment of our trip to Lake George! The food is just ok, the service is horrific! We ordered a bottle of wine and after appetizers and dinner arrived, it still was not brought to us. No one picked up any of our empty plates throughout the whole meal. The property is beautiful! Thats about all thats worth seeing, which you have to pay $20 just to enter. Food is just as good if not better at the Blue Water Manor and Algonquin.
Seated by a door to the outside that is a revolving door of people and servers for a wedding. Which also give the restraint the ambiance of a fraternity kegger. Very dissappointed. Cannot even comment on the food as the experience was so bad I had no appetite by the time the food arrived.
Ate here for both breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was ok, the waffles with maple syrup, strawberries and chocolate shavings was good. The highlight was the latte, perfectly made with the rock sugar stick on the side.Lunch was very good. Meatballs were excellent and the strawberry scone with vanilla ice cream was so amazing I want to come back just for that.
Food was terrible and expensive. I had the “garden risotto” that was $26 and nearly inedible. It was bland and inexplicably LOADED with onions. We also tried the “warm burrata dip.” It was neither warm nor a dip. It seemed to be reheated ravioli stuffed with dried out cheese? Service was fine. Views are stunning.
A delicious pizza, fresh salad and an iced soda pop server on balcony overlooking the expansive Lake George, shared with my grandson. Life does not get better. Especially when my finicky grandson walks away telling me that our waiter was great. The young man really knew how to communicate, and knew how to sell his menu.
This restaurant gets 5 stars for the view and 2 stars for the food. I keep coming back looking for the right meal, but it is all pretty mediocre, but hey at least it costs a fortune. Their sauces are average, the salads are dry and tasteless, boring desserts, and there is nothing exciting about any option available. They fancy themselves an Italian restaurant, but honestly Olive Garden is better.Youre on LG, how is there not a trout or native fish option? What about a local game bird like duck? Venison, perhaps? At this point I have given it enough tries, Im done.
Love this hotel, the service, spa, and accommodations are all superb. The Dining experience not so much. Pizza at the Caldwell Pub was below average. Breakfast had a big menu, but taste was underwhelming. Dinner at Bella Vita was also disappointing. Chicken Parm, Pasta dishes, and Meatballs were all so-so. Had high expectations given the positive reviews and staying at a luxury resort. Was informed that the head chef of 10+ yrs left during covid, perhaps that explains why. If you’re accustomed to good Italian (Brooklyn, Bronx, Westchester) then this is not the spot for you.The Calamari w cherry peppers and dipping sauces was the best item I had all weekend.Hopefully they raise the bar, or my next trip ill be dining off-site.
Overall, this was a somewhat disappointing experience. But Ill start with the good stuff. Pros: The view is outstanding. Highly recommend getting a table outside as you will have an amazing, unobstructed view of Lake George. The ambience in general is very calm and peaceful, and the service is friendly and attentive. The bread in the breadbasket was warm and delicious. The glass of rose I ordered was very good.Cons: The food. Average at best, unpleasant at worst. Also, the details were missing. We didnt have a cocktail menu at our table. I ordered a glass of prosecco, and it was flat. Our starter was described as a burrata dip and while it was actually OK (but nothing particularly interesting), it was not a dip at all but rather burrata on toasted bread, making it difficult to share. For our entrees, I got the halibut and my husband had the steak. Both were mediocre and uninspiring, and my dish was extremely salty. Nevertheless, I ordered dessert -- a strawberry shortcake -- but instead of a shortcake it was a rather dry flavorless scone with a rather bitter aftertaste. Im usually not particularly fussy about food, and probably wouldnt even be writing this review were it not for the PRICE!!! $40-50 a plate! I live in NYC and am familiar with fine dining -- for that price in Manhattan or Brooklyn I expect a very high level quality of food and truly inventive, exciting atmosphere. Here, you are paying for the view. I do understand that with Covid, many restaurants are short staffed. I hope they pull it together.
Spent a few days in Lake George with th family. Had breakfast and dinner at La Bella Vita. The meals and service wwre great.Had breakfast there twice and both time we had Petra as our server. She was very helpful, friendly and pleasant. She treated my 6 year old niece with the same respect that she gave us adults. My niece felt like abig girl being able to order what she wanted. That was great! For dinner our server was Neeve. He too was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Cheers to whoever hired these two gems, they were prime example of how customer service should be handled. The next time were in the area, we hope to see them again.
Food was delicious. The atmosphere was great. The only reason I cant give this place 5 stars is because I found hair in my food. The manager was very professional and came to apologize and even offered to give me another dish or dessert, but I had clearly lost my appetite.
Phenomenal customer service and friendly, attentive, detail-oriented staff. Food is excellent and promptly delivered. The hostess, Melu, was able to accommodate our special requests on a busy night and came through for us despite being under tremendous pressure. She definitely deserves a raise. Kim and Erin did a wonderful job providing recommendations and show our five year old daughter a great time by keeping her engaged when they tended our table. Well done all around by the staff here! Would recommend this establishment to anyone looking to spend a special evening or weekend together, or just seeking a quality fine dining experience!
Main restaurant at the Sagamore. Like the hotel in which it is located it is not cheap but you should not expect it to be. Eat inside or out on the deck. Service is top notch. We enjoy the conversations with the young men and women servers, many of whom are from foreign countries and working while they visit the United States. Do not take that as a signal of inexperience. Our waiter, born in South Africa and getting to America via time living in France was as good as it gets with knowledgeable advice from wine to dessert.
RAVIOLI ARAGOSTA !!! Visited the restaurant on Valentines Day weekend. Our table was ready promptly for our reservation. We requested a window view, which was accommodated. Freshly baked bread was enjoyable, but did not arrive until our entrees. One of our drinks was completely wrong, however was promptly corrected. Main dishes were fantastic. Filet duo was cooked wonderfully. Each steak had a distinct flavor. The Gorgonzola was not to my liking but the mushroom pesto was fantastic. Now, the highlight. Ravioli aragosta was life changing. Filled with sea food and wonderfully presented. Do yourself a favor and order the full size. Quality of service was above average, food and drinks very enjoyable.
We went for dinner at 7pm on a Saturday night. We made reservations but definitely didnt need to, it wasnt that busy. Our waitress was very friendly and took great care of us. Our dinner was very good, we had the lobster shrimp scampi for an appetizer, the chicken saltimbocca and steak filet due dish for our mains, followed by the cream brulee which was to die for! We were so full that we each only ate half of our mains and asked for them to be packed up to have for lunch the next day. To our surprise when we got home and went to warm up lunch, they only packed the half piece of meat from each dish we had left and NONE of the sides that were left on our plate (which was quite a bit). So unfortunately even though our time there was nice, for the price Im sorely disappointed and feel gipped! Buyer beware!
The Sagamore hotel is a vintage treasure hidden away in Adirondacks. Its breathtaking views and desolate location only add to the ambiance of this unique restaurant. This hidden gem is a far off the beaten track. And The La Bella Vita, Italian restaurant is an unforgettable experience, that is well worth having. There are seven other restaurants on site, this is one of my favorites. The bar, offset by the restaurant , doubles as a cozy lounge area. Their live acts are class acts. I almost passed up the chance to sit outside and enjoy the view, to listen to the jazz musician going HAMM (respectfully so..) on his own renditions of some popular songs, that would have gotten more radio airplay- if he was the original artist. Killed it.The menus is pricey, as to be expected. The serving sizes are filling - and the plates are artistically inclined. Even the pizza I ordered had a little character to it; I had the Classic Margherita Pizza, the crushed Roma and tomatoes were as fresh as they were tasty. The pesto and basil sauce was full of long lasting flavor. My wife had the Hand Crafted Gnocchi -- the texture of the wild mushrooms complimented the fresh spinach and salty-crispy Italian bacon perfectly. It was all smothered in a creamy pecorino sauce (aka creamy deliciousness) The Gnocchi couldnt have been cooked any better. Needless to say she enjoyed the dish. I stole a few bites - it was a classic. The dessert was Strawberry shortcake with homemade vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries - sprayed with fluffy-sweet-creamy-sweetness whip cream like substance. The execution on classic Italian dishes as complicated as Chicken Saltimboca to as simple as Rustica Pizza, made with fresh recipes at a pleasantly executed at an award winning restaurant, that is delightfully consistent, is very refreshing. The panoramic view of the Adirondacks, and the gorgeous, makes the restaurant feel more like ant is more like an experience than, just dinner.
Service was very good. food was so so. i ordered tbe meatball sandwich. meatballs are round. what i got was a glorified grill cheese sandwich with sliced meat balls. looked like breakfast sausage. bland taste. if yourgoing to have an italian name serve italuan tasting food please.
Dined this past weekend, Five Star Resort, very ordinary,Will not blame service staff or Caesar Salad both good, entree Lobster and Crab Ravioli dry and tasteless, very disappointed, brought to the attention of the waitstaff, fell upon deaf ears,If you can’t produce quality meals in the off season, what happens during peak. Summer in town, won’t get my $$$$$.👎

2022-05-30Generally a good property with nice views overall (part of a resort) - 1 star is for that. Took out stars only for the La Bella restaurant- largely due to treatment by host who is checking in (polished but clear bias in action coupled with poor planning) and serving (forgot to bring our drinks, messed up kids meal etc).Food itself was ok.

2020-11-04La Bella Vita Ristorante is located in the beautiful resort, Sycamore, that overlooks Lake George in Bolton. Parking is free and when the weather is nice, you can eat outside. Even in the winter, they had a heated, covered patio available. The restaurant is so beautiful. It’s worth coming just for the views. The prices are typical of NYC prices.

2018-09-07It looked nice, the views were pleasant, the food was average while being pricey. It is convenient if you are staying at or visiting the resort and wanted something to dress up for.The appetizers were generally better than the entrees.I personally enjoyed the chicken saltimbocca and the short rib. The fillet duo was ok. I heard that the lobster tail was not good so maybe stay away from that. The pizza is really not their specialty and I honestly didnt enjoy it much at all.All in all, go for the atmosphere and convenience but dont hope for the best meal of your life.

2022-05-22I ordered the bolonagese. The sauce was great but wow was the rigatoni over cooked. As in sticky and gummy. Not al dente at all. Our waiter was okay but obviously overworked so didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for replacement. Will not eat there again.

2020-06-10Very good presentable dishes, however some meals are cooked differently. I got steak frites, asked well done, it came a little burned. Overall very delicious and tasty. Tuscan salad was very good, highly recommended.

2018-07-24This place is gorgeous, everyone is beautiful. But at the end of the day, I still payed $30+ for chicken parmesan that tasted OK and was visibly rushed. Our dinning experience was underwhelming. We were promised early ordering for our 3 toddlers which they quickly forgot about, we had to leave our table with them to entertain them outside while we waited. Buy, its still gorgeous :)

2018-08-16I had seen some low reviews of this place so I was concerned it would be “hotel restaurant” quality. It was ok because we were really going for the ambiance and view.I was so wrong. The food was amazing. All of the meat was clearly cooked by very skilled chefs. The filet was a perfect rare, the short rib almost disintegrated, and the chicken saltimbocca was the best I’ve ever had. Perfect view, and perfect service. You’ll love it.

2019-12-11This was a pleasant place to have lunch. We were a party of 4 and the service was great. We just got back from Italy in October, so nowhere is there going to be better food than Italy.
