The restaurant is beautiful. An old rambling farm house wonderfully appointed with fresh flowers everywhere. Parking was in their private lot.I can drink bourbon, anywhere. So I reserved this night for fine French wines. And I wasnt disappointed. Not only were the wines by the glass superb, they were reasonably priced. And better yet, the pour was a full glass. Cant remember the last time I saw that. The menu was varied with several offerings in every category. We shared an appetizer for course 1. We each had an appetizer for course 2. And and after our main course I had the Grande Mainer Souffle.A word to the wise. If you dont like cream sauce, tell your waiter up front. Im sure they can make a fish or vegetable dish without the sauce. In summary, a wonderful birthday experience worthy of a 5+ star rating.
We had a wonderful time the food is a beautiful mix of classic and contemporary cuisine… Decor is a total Charm ,… Service is attentive and not fussy… Very well-balanced wine list ...The captains are knowledgeable friendly and eager to assist if you need them. Very nice evening was had by us!
We had a wonderful dinner at La Cremaillere Restaurant to celebrate my daughters graduation from Bard College. They easily accommodated our party of 8. The staff was friendly, courteous and professional from the moment we entered this charming restaurant. The menu was both traditional and adventurous and the food was outstanding. I highly recommend!
I made a reservation for my wifes birthday nothing in the reservation the occasion...unfortunately the waiter didnt receive the notification. Food is good, but the restaurant makes you feel unwanted. In understand the professionalism of a luxury restaurant but you gotta crack a smile to make people feel welcome and comfortable.
La Cremaillere is a charming old school restaurant decorated in French decor. Tables could offer a bit more privacy, but food and service are top notch. Prices are high for sure, as you expect at a French restaurant, but if money is an issue the restaurant does offer 3 course meals at reduced prices at certain times during the year. Expect valet parking, coat check, and jackets recommended for men.
This is an excellent restaurant in all aspects. The ingredients are of good quality. The menu has something for all tastes. The waiters are able to describe the wines In detail even though they have a large wine selection. Basically what you have with this restaurant is a great experience, great attentive and knowledgeable service, and a quality of food that is compettive with Restaurants in Europe of the same caliber. I spend a lot of time in Italy, and this restaurant matches the attention to detail and the understanding of how to combine certain ingredients to achieve a certain flavor and quality that reminds me of the great restaurants in Chianti. This is a great place if you live in Westchester and want a great meal and outstanding service in a calm relaxed setting. Enjoy!
We’ve been going to La Cremaillere since 1984. Always for special occasions.,As was last night. We were concerned because of the bankruptcy but the service was lovely and the food was delicious. Unfortunately the room was almost completely empty except for us. We wish you good luck for the future
After a couple of years since our last visit decided to try the place again. On previous occasions the food was OK, but service was top notch. Well, the food is still just OK (definitely overpriced), but service was terrible this time. The waiter ignored us for almost 30 minutes, before providing us with a menu. Instead he spent all his time with people who arrived after us and were seated at the table next to us. After finally noticing us, he made no effort to apprise us of the spring tasting menu. Had I not overheard him offering various menu options to the guests next to us, we would have missed out on the offering. After ordering beef medium well, I received an undercooked piece of meat that had to be sent back. After we brought it to his attention that he had neglected our presence for a full 30 mins, the waiter unapologetically stated that those were his regular customers. Neither he, nor his manager, appeared to comprehend that all paying customers deserve good service. This was our 3rd and definitely last visit to the place after being treated like 2nd class citizen for some at this rather expensive and grossly overrated restaurant. The lesson here appears to be that if you are not one of the regular crowd at this place, you are best to spend your money some place else.
We had a groupon five course meal and it was outstanding. Great food at a very reasonable price. The duck confit and souffles were most special. My only criticism is that the service was very rushed. Almost as soon as one course came out another one was delivered....They need to work on that. But again the food was terrific.
Great value 3 course weekday lunch at $32 @. Delish sea bass (No longer on the menue) & escargot in pesto sauce with angel pasta app. . Visited again a few months ago .. lamb had excellent flavor bur came out rare & we sent it back ..( this was the second time we had this issue with the lamb) . still undercooked.! House white wine was very good but pricy at $14.50 for a reasonable pour. Visited again Last weekend ... the salmon entree & the chocolate molten cake with raspberry sorbet was very good.
If you are over 60 and like a peripheral French food this is the place for you. Otherwise go to the French restaurant in Rye and save your money. The only thing French about about La Cremaillere is its name. The food is stuck the 1980s, boring and barely French. We ordered a crab cake as an appetizer which cost as much as three appetizers and yet was paired ridiculously with pickles and tomatoes !?!?Then we had the veal which had NO taste and it’s reduction was a waste. And we ordered the duck which was OK but certainly not worth the price. We did like the service and the creme brûlée. Hence the one start review. Otherwise I will give minus 3 star rating.
We celebrated my grandfathers 80th birthday at La Cremaillere at brunch yesterday. It is difficult to get children, grandchildren all together at any one time and we succeeded and La Cremaillere made it a perfect occasion. The setting was beautiful. We had a small private room. The food selection was exquisite and the service impeccable. Everyone was delighted and, of course, I was thrilled.
I’ve had the pleasure of dining here on and off for more than 30 years. Institution, iconic, destination, historic- are all apt descriptions for this country French gem. Having spent many years in fine dining during the first part of my career, much of what I learned was a drop in the bucket compared to the level of commitment and expertise that the Meyzens have instilled in this restaurant. Look up ‘charming’ in the dictionary and you should find a picture of this dining room. Impeccable silver service that you’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere these days. And I can only imagine that this food harkens back to what nobility was noshing back in the countryside of Normandy. If I still lived in the northeast, this would be a special and regular staple in my rotation. Instead, when I travel home to visit family, I go out of my way to dine at La “Crem”.
We live in Greenwich and we love so many beautiful restaurants out in this area, including elevated places like Polpo, Rebeccas, Le Penguin, etc. This is a pretentious, arrogant establishment and I wouldnt suggest anyone try it unless you enjoy pretentious, arrogant places that resemble your grandmothers faux floral living room.
I came here with my friends and enjoyed Mediterranean cuisine. We ordered mushroom bean paste and healthy salad. The hummus is smooth, with a perfect texture, good flavor and proper flavor. Plump fresh mushrooms are a perfect match. “The super healthy salad is 藜 with some cranberries and sauce on the touch OK, we also ordered the falafel and Babaganoush. They are all delicious. The felafels are crisp, fresh whole wheat pita is very good The staff was attentive and very kind. Our water glass was regularly replenished. This is not a fancy place, but in the noise of Peace Avenue 2.

2022-01-28Our friends were excited to invite me and my wife for a special birthday dinner at La Crémaillère. They fondly remember the restaurant from its previous incarnation and were enticed by the tasting menu advertised on the restaurants website. Unfortunately this dining option was not available on the day of your visit. We picked steak tartare, foie gras and bay scallops as our appetizers; all good and tasty choices but the bread offered before the meal was reminiscent of microwave heated supermarket rolls. We all selected the special off the day veal steak on the bone for our main course. The veal steak turned out to be a mini tomahawk steak of baby beef from an animal that was long weaned from its mother. The sides of potatoes and chanterelle mushrooms must have been forgotten in the pan and were charred beyond recognition. The big surprise came with the bill as this dish carried an unannounced surcharge of $ 35.00 per plate. The great FX Pichler wine from the Austrian Wachovia Valley was served in Rhine wine glasses. The service was attentive without being obstrusive. We elected not to try desert.

2022-04-17French restaurant with a special flair. Decor and ambiance is wonderful and the food was outstanding. 6 of us for dinner and all had different appetizers and entrées. Soufflés and crème brûlée finished our meal. We couldn’t have been more pleased.

2022-06-09Been going for years. Since they changed chefs it’s not worth it. Lamb without bone. Got 4 thin slices over peas. The angle hair pasta with pine nuts It’s green sauce replaces with something else, not good to heavy. Dessert Cho soufflé half the size, and no more pettifor at the end of your meal. They won’t go broke without us for sure. Will not be going back. Not worth the money. Oh no potatoes, only FF. NOt a good pick for a chef. I say keep it the same. Get your old menu out and use it.

2017-06-06The service is excellent but the food, while made with decent quality ingredients, is locked in the 1980s. More like a country brasserie than fine dining. Still, its a nice place for a simple celebration.

2017-06-02We went here for my birthday. Havent been there for many years but I remember the dining experience to be very elegant and upscale. And, wow was I right !! We walked in and the bar area by the door was hopping. Everyone was very well attired and although I was wearing a sport jacket, I was the only one without a tie.
