I had a huge musical emergency, and the workers at Laconia helped me out when other stores couldnt. I was so grateful for them and they were so nice! The customer service is out of this world! Please support this amazing store! Highly recommend for any musician at any level. Will come back and my go to repair shop.
Ray,Janae and I thanks you so much for a wonderful 6 years and counting. This pandemic has change much of our physical interaction but it has not changed the great services and absolutely wonderful generous and kind customer service from yourself and staff at Laconia. We are very fortunate to have your services and would not trade you for any other.Your services are way above par and your prices are unmatched. While I can get that anywhere I sure as heck will not find the wonderful loving family atmosphere you give to ALL your customers. I implore everyone to engage in a relationship at Laconia. Once they go Lac they’d never go back.Again thank you for all you do. I wish there was a 10 star rating. You’re 12/10
The instrument technician was super helpful in fixing my little brothers Bassoon. Instead of charging us an inspection fee like every other music store, he helped us by letting us buy the missing screw for my little brothers bassoon and installation. I would gladly do business with them again, very helpful and nice people.
Very professional and efficient. I visited Laconia Music Center to get my childs oboe fixed. Not only did they fix it right away but didnt charge me anything. I was ready to pay the price. They made me feel and reinstate my faith that truthfulness and professionalism still exists.
The guys here are amazing. Well educated in all aspects of the music world. They are paitent and happy to answer any questions about any and all instruments. They also offer lessons and minor repairs. Prices are extremely reasonable. Got my first violin there and i plan to go back for another shopping spree. Also, youre not gonna find better priced strings ANYWHERE.
The most informational, helpful, and honest people I know in the music business are at this place. Ive been a musician for 20 years and if I need any supplies, expert repairs, advice on purchases, and information I go to Laconia Music. I know I can rely for honest pricing and straight answers about what I am getting from them. If they dont know, they will refer me to an expert in the field, not just another shop. If you have an interest in music, Laconia Music Center can get you what you need. This place and the people in it are the best anywhere.
The owners son was rude. We went to exchange the younger daughter violin which was perfect and asked for the other one to be returned as we wanted to show other shops to get 3rd opinion. The owners son started talking rude and took back the violin from my daughter and refused to exchange to return. I daughter had some violin test on Monday. She had to borrow for her friend so mu agony and pain for little one.
My daughter Nicole plays the clarinet that we rented for almost 2 years from Laconia. She is ten years old and loves to play, she is in the Washington st school fifth grade band. we brought in her clarinet to have the cork replaced and when she brought it home she just felt that it played different. The employees were professional and helpful and and the owners exchanged the clarinet for another. My daughter is overjoyed which makes us her parents overjoyed. There is only one choice for MUSIC and that is Laconia!!!!! Thanks again Pete and Christina and Nicole Karejwa
Laconia is a great local music store. The owner, Ray, does all the repairs for the instruments and does an awesome job. As a music teacher, I send out a lot of instruments out for repairs and no one is as detailed as he is.In addition to repairs, Laconia also has a very knowledgeable staff. Many music stores try to sell you, and sell you things that would profit them more than you. But, in all the years Ive been going to Laconia, the staff has always been honest. Its the way good business should be!While Laconia may not match up with the glamour of big name music stores, what they lack in presentation, they make up with honesty, fair prices, and knowledge thats only acquired by experience.
I’d give zero star for this store. I’ve waited for 20 minutes there just to pick a instrument. When it was finally my turn, a lady came and asked me about my instrument. I told her that I just here to pick my cello, and I told her every information she needs to find my cello. She asked a guy next to her about my cello, and that guy asked another to find the cello, but that last guy didn’t get it and all of them went “service” other costumers which came after me. After 30 minuets waiting without anyone helped, I realized that I’m the only Asian in the store, no wonder they don’t really want to help me. I left without my instrument.
Make sure you get everything in writing with this company. We had to start the lessons 2 weeks later and they said is ok because we give them notice of the new starting date in advance. The next month the teacher did not showed up for 2 lessons and the billed us for the full month. They did not honored the change in starting date and the fact that “Matthew” (the manager) agreed to give us the refund. At the time I went to claim my refund an old blonde lady came from the office screamed and shouted at me like I was her made.On top that my teen had a creepy teacher. It is not the best place.
Great really chill guys, my brothers alto saxophone was messed up and we gave it to them and literally 3 minutes later he gives it back fixed, we went to give money for the fix but they said no need, but because they were so nice and great, my father gave $10 because they were great, highly recommended
Very good. it is easy to find classes fitting in your needs. A variety of classes are available. And you can find almost any instrument you like. For instance, if you have two kids who are learning two different instruments, it is possible to organize two lessons together at Laconia.

2022-03-19My daughter is in NYSSMA today and 2 minutes before her audition her flute started sound REALLY weird. Notes were all wrong. Disaster!! I called Laconia and explained the situation. They told me to come by and that they would try. Joan and Ray were absolutely fabulous! The customer service provided to me by Joan with immediate attention considering our time restraints to get back to the audition and the mastery of Ray’s skills to immediately find the problem and fix it a couple of minutes. Unbelievable! I was able to get back to audition and my daughter is playing her beloved flute beautifully! I have been going to Laconia for many years. They are personable and experts in what they do. I highly recommend them.Oh and by the way, they didn’t charge me. They only asked that I follow up with them with how my daughter did in the audition. It felt really good that I am not alone in caring about my daughter’s performance and her musical goals. They are a true community gem.

2021-11-19The owner is awesome. He was very personable and helpful, explaining everything about the instrument we were purchasing...Hes a 5-star.The reason I could only go to 4 is that its a pain to park and the store is a bit small so its cluttered with instruments n stuff which gives me anxiety... I get it though because theyre doing such a high volume of business, I guess it cant be helped. He made purchasing an instrument for my son a snap! High recommend...

2021-10-19So my electric violin died suddenly. With a gig tomorrow and a recording session the day after that. So this was a real emergency. As this is a niche instrument, you all probably know I cant just go to a fancy violin shop- theyre not equipped to handle that sort for thing. Most music stores arent. But Laconia Music is. Ray made time for me and fixed my violin in the middle of crazy school rental madness. Im super grateful. Thank you so much Ray, Matt, and Laconia Music!

2021-01-18Excellent music center. Consistent outstanding customer service. All staff super knowledgeable and friendly. Both my children take music lessons here and all music teachers are knowledgeable, patient and helpful. Music teachers also relate to the children very well. Ray the owner takes great pride in all aspects of Laconia Music Center and it shows in everything he does at the store. Highly recommended.

2021-10-07KINDNESS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUND! LOOK NO FURTHER FOR RENTAL INSTRUMENTS FOR NYC STUDENTS.At the schools recommendation, I contacted the first company on the list. Bad idea! I contacted Music and Arts. I feel scammed, mistreated and generally abused. After repeated phone calls, including those where they insisted they must speak to my 12 year old, they were unwilling/unable to give me useful information about the whereabouts of my instrument. And, they were unkind, reading from a script, always with a different, unhelpful message.HAPPY DAY! Fast forward to my call to LACONIA MUSIC CENTER! WOW! Night and day. Matt was thoughtful, kind and responsive. We were unable to pick up the instrument in person. He made arrangements to ship it. He communicated with me so I would know exactly what to expect and when to expect it. Not only did the instrument arrive exactly as expected, it had a tag on it with the childs name and school. So simple. Made a kid feel so good to see her name and school. To top it all off, the cost of the rental instrument for one year with Laconia is 1/6 the cost of the rental instrument from M&A. And, with Laconia, you have kind, supportive people with whom you can have reasonable conversations about the instrument, the students needs and general questions. When you call, they answer. If you need a rental instrument in the greater NYC area, please use LACONIA MUSIC CENTER! What they do is simple. They are kind and supportive and make getting an instrument to learn with easy. They do it well.
