We love Lahi! Great service, delicious food! Portion sizes are perfect! If you call ahead they will cook your food so that when you sit down it will be ready (which is awesome when you are hungry). I personally think its one of the best Filipino restaurants around. Favorite dish is the eggplant omelette and Sigsig Bangus (Milkfish dish).
So glad to find another Filipino restaurant in the neighborhood. This place is tiny but service is very good and food was very prompt. We ordered the sisig chicken tacos, tapsilog, tocilog, turon and Halo Halo. My favorite from the whole meal were the sisig tacos. So tasty and flavorful. Its no wonder they are known for it. The tapsilog and tocilog were okay. The tocino meat was abit too fatty and the atchara needed more salt. The turon was good and slighty different in that it was banana paste rather than banana pieces. The Halo Halo was huge and really good. Next time I come back I will try more items in the menu.
PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭Eat the World NYC review:One of the most popular booths from last years Queens International Night Market has recently opened a full restaurant, and so far things seem top notch. The small corner space is constantly full of laughing feasting Filipinos, and a joy to be in and eat.
This is probably the only Filipino restaurant in Elmhurst, it’s reasonably priced for a filling portion. Like everyone mentioned, the venue is quite small, but even though it was busy when we at 8:00pm they still had a few tables. The service was pretty good. I wish the serve was a bit more attentive; it might’ve just been busy, but we had to wait a few minutes before getting the server’s attention.Their grilled boneless chicken was absolutely delicious! It was tender and juicy. I recommend getting a side of eggs and substituting the white rice for their garlic rice. They could’ve added more of their pickled vegetables to the plate. Overall, I’ll definitely be coming here again to try out their other dishes and dessert items.
The food was not terrible but pricy for what it is. The menu shown is out of date by a few years so expect to pay more. The sisig was super dry. They forgot to throw an egg on top. Garlic rice did. It have much taste. Not much competition so I guess they can get away with it. I’ll try the other Filipino restaurants before I come back.
Great location.Upon entering, I noticed immediately how social distancing was put in place how a wooden structure extension was added to add more tables to maintain distancing. The staff all had mask and hand sanitizer was available. The staff was friendly and helpful.I arrived close to closing and wasn’t able to dine in. I ordered lumpia as I was able to eat heading home. They were amazing.
I arrive at this unique restaurant from time to time since I like the special atmosphere that is outline this place. The staff is exceptionally cordial and experienced. The service is awfully rapid. Also, the food they cook is perfect. I frequent often and I was always satisfied. The payment is honest. I recommend this place to all my friends.
Food is fresh. Service is great. Best Filipino spot in Queens hands down. Don’t need to be in Woodside, Jamaica, or sunny side to get some authentic food. It’s not a very big place, but have the elements of an amazing family business. Dessert wise, these halo halo is different cuz of the burnt rice flakes they add to it which is too Notch, there kare kare is always pleasing along with the pork bbq stick, the sizzling bangus fish sisig, garlic rice and singang pork bauboy soup. All winners I could eat forever and ever. Don’t forget the Turon caramelized banana egg rolls, and leche flan custard, also sooooooooo good.
Went here on 10/14/2020 with my husband and was taken back by our experience. My husband and I ordered the following: Lahis BBQ Pork Ribs, BBQ Chicken Pinakbet (mixed vegetables) Calamari, Pancit, and two mango juices. My husbands order came with pickled vegetables and mine as well which we love, however we were disappointed when my husband discovered a partially live bug among his bed of lettuce that the pickled vegetables were in. On my bed of lettuce with pickled vegetables there was dirt which indicated the staff had not washed the produce prior to plating it. Not to mention there was an eyelash on my fried calamari and my BBQ Chicken was served to me partially raw as if it was pan seared with grill marks, immediately plated, and smothered in a sauce that wasnt to my liking. It wasnt even hot! Our Pancit arrived close to the end of our meal as well. I was in shock because we never experienced this before at this establishment. In my opinion our food had to be sent back too often than it should have been. I was more so upset because I hadnt ate all day until after 4pm when we arrived and all this had taken place. The kicker for me was when I just checked my statements from my bank that Lahis staff committed an act of fraud by charging my debt card more then what the amount was approved for as I did not authorize for the staff to take out anything additional than the subtotal on the bottom of my receipt. This is not appropriate once so ever Lahi and youve lost a customer. Word of advice to customers: ALWAYS keep your receipts and check your account statements as Im sure this is not the only time they have done something like this when the tip amount was intentionally zeroed out by the consumer.
I dine with them yesterday and ordered Avocado shake, I would always get avocado shake from them but yesterday the drink was kinda bland and so i told them and asked for another one. The cashier was very rude and told me she will just take it off from the bill and won’t give me another one bc they’re out of it. I asked her if that was the reason why it was bland, and she goes, “no, we still have it but we will not give u another one” I go, okay… can I get mango instead? And she goes, “no, we don’t have it anymore” I asked if they’re out of it and she’s like, “no, we have it but u can’t have it”I then asked our server if they’re really out of those drinks and she’s like, “that’s what she said” with a smirk on.I work as a cashier too and was never this rude to a customer asking for a better drink. She wasn’t even sorry for the drink too. poor service 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
This place is a low key gem. Yes Tito Rad still holds the crown for traditional Filipino eating but this small cozy place is where me and the GF go for Sunday breakfast or when we just to tired from work. The food is delicious and served up quick and the staff is courteous, friendly and professional. Support your local businesses!
We like a lot eating out. Yesterday we came to this superb place which friends recommended to us. We spent a delightful evening there with exceptional food and a nice team and a talented cuisine. We put this restaurant in our phone list and we will no doubt go again very soon. We highly recommend.
Food is good and that’s the only reason I went back there few times. However last time when I was there, No water served, Not once checking for the whole time. It was 2pm in a weekday... not rush hour. I finished my meal and waited there for few minutes and still no sight of waitresses. I just put the money on the table and left. Then the waitress chased me on the street asked me if I paid for the food... 4 stars for the food and ZERO for the service! So I submitted a 2 star review.
We met with friends at this restaurant for dinner. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was a winning. we were warmly welcomed by the crew and we had an excellent feeling. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we shall definitely come back again. we highly recommend this place.
Just had dinner here with my parents and fiancee and it was delicious! The sisig taco appetizer is a really innovative, non-traditional item that was well seasoned and really tasty. Good job! We also had the chicken adobo, ginataang manok, sisig bangus and we loved it!
My previous forays into Filipino cuisine were by way of the numerous titas Ive adopted in my church. Their home cooked pancit, adobo chicken, lumpia, and numerous desserts always hit the spot. Lahi is that spot for home-cooked food whenever I get the craving. Started off with perfectly crispy and not greasy lumpia. Their Mike Bihon pancit had a nice mix of pork, shrimp and veggies - definitely more pork than shrimp, though. The adobo chicken was flavorful with the right tang of vinegar and saltiness of the soy sauce. Made with boneless chicken thighs, the meat was juicy. The staff was pleasant and happy to help with suggestions on the menu. These three dishes fed two people with a nice helping of leftovers.
Great food! The ambiance is very Filipino. I just don’t understand why some people are so disrespectful of the restaurant itself by bringing outside food?! (Iskwater?) and the nerve to ask for a plate? And expect a sweet smile from a staff? Who do you think you are? Ooopps, I think I enjoyed my food too quick... found myself looking at the other customers inappropriateness! Is there a review for the customers? Lol! 😂✌️Lahi rocks! Love your sisig and pancit (tamis-anhang chame)❤️❤️❤️ Surely recommend this resto to my friends.👏👏👏
So happy to finally have a local Filipino spot I can walk to in Elmhurst! Doesnt hurt that they have some of the most authentic, just-like-mom-cooks (or dad hehe) type of cooking. Theyre Inihaw na manok (bbq, marinated chicken) is juicy and moist! The Sisig is to die for, pork or bangus (milkfish)! Their Bihon noodles are the best when you eat at the restaurant, nice and hot! Any of their crispy pork dishes such as Crispy Pata or Lechon Kawali are stand outs! Such moist meat and deliciously crispy skin. The service is fantastic with very, respectful nice employees and you dont wait too long for your food. I havent had any issues waiting for a table but I havent tried during weekends on lunch time.I look forward to coming back all the time and hope the restaurant sticks. Its exactly what the neighborhood needed!
My friends and I had dinner here since we really miss having filipino cuisine. Not quiet a good experience tho. When we requested to add eggs for our sisig, they refused and said that the sisig is no longer hot which is really disappointing since we want to enjoy our sisig that way. We let that pass. But when we were about to finish our meal, we decided to request for extra plates and spoons cos my friend has a small dessert but the waitress told us that they dont allow giving extra plates!!! My friend asked how come they dont grant our small requests but then one of the waitresses (that boyish gurl 🙄) just sarcastically repeated what we just asked. But what is more infuriating is that she acted as though she was already ready to throw punches on us. (Typical “Ugaling Skwatter” Pinoy) We just tried to calm down ourselves since there was no point of arguing with them. This is going to be the last time that we will eat in this place!!!!
A group of us gathered here to eat highlights from the menu as recommend by other friends of ours. Some of the dishes were really great like the Bicol Express, The Roasted Pig hock = so delicious, the shrimp, string beans and pumpkin in coconut milk, and the sisig baboy with pork. The Kare Kare was bland and the fish sisig lacked personality. Very friendly staff just a couple blocks from the subway. Totally worth a trip to Queens!
Everything was straight forward, delicious and not too salty. Both the lumpia and pork hock were crispy and golden. I recommend the sizzling pork belly with garlic rice and the avocado shake. I look forward to returning ASAP. And it is a 5 min walk from the Queens Mall.
Queens is full of surprises everytime we venture into Ten Tens stomping grounds. Before we hiked back home with our backs full of groceries, that familiar noise began to echo from the bottom of our stomachs. Just a few blocks from the M/R line is Lahi, a Filipino comfort-serving establishment in the heart of Elmhurst. When we walked in, the air was filled with #classicrock favorites from the vocals of the staff as they prepared for the dinner rush. An offering of many of our Filipino favorites had us going, Ill take that! No, that! No, lets get this! with the final verdict going to the #sisig baboy (pork sisig). A conglomerate of precisely sliced pork bits mixed with spring greens and red onions had us eating right off the sizzling plate. Washing it all down with a sweet note from the mango juice 🥭🍹 had us ready to take on the next leg of our adventure.
This was my first time trying a Filipino restaurant in NYC. I arrived earlier than my party, who were still in Manhattan and did not tell me until I had arrived, so I had an awkward conversation with the nice waiter about it. There was some confusion between 6 -- he thought I said 6 people, but I meant 6 oclock, which unfortunately became almost 7. Instead of forcing me out, he allowed me to stay at a table until they arrived. He offered glass water as I apologized for the late members of my party and told him if there was a larger party coming, I could move tables. One of the members of my party bailed, so there were only 2 of us, forcing me to have another awkward encounter with the waiter, who was still kind and understanding. The restaurant was not full, so maybe that is why. So 5/5 for customer service. The food was fairly good. I loved the lumpia appetizer. I ordered Sisig Buboy as my entree. It was pretty dry and I felt either some small bones or extremely hard parts. I do wonder how the peanut sauce would have tasted on it. I understand. Its supposed to be a crunchy dish. So I wouldnt hold that against them and if ever back in Elmhurst in the future, I would try another dinner. My girlfriend enjoyed milkfish. Their honey flan was delicious. They have a clean and functional restroom with paper towels. It is difficult to find places with restrooms in Elmhurst. They also take card, not cash only.
We ordered lumpia .out of stock.Camalares and Shanghai lack presentation. just ordinary tasteKalderatang kambimg lasang sunogPork BBQ he is delicious. The server lacks training. The plastic box with the dirty plate was placed on our table.Beautiful place clean inside and out. and many people who pass by would have been able to improve the service and food quality if they were neglected.

2022-01-29Came here for dinner tonight I would say probably first time in over two years for sure , hasn’t changed their food is still outstanding to me had their sisig tacos with the pork and lemon mayo, beef nilaga (beef broth with veggies) beef was very tender make sure you ask for patis (fish sauce) and put some not too much over the broth so good! And the beans with squash in coconut milk oh so good too, and lastly beef kaldereta (Filipino beef stew) , we were the last customers of the evening but everything was still so good enjoyed my time their even though it’s been over two years definitely one of the best Filipino restaurants in Queens and in the city!

2022-03-06Ginataang langka & inihaw na liempo - nom nom😍. This Filipino resto is situated next to Kape’t Torta on Queens Blvd, a few blocks off the Grand Ave-Newtown subway stop. If you are thereabouts and hankering to have some comfort food, come by and enjoy. Knocked off a star because the Nilagang Tadyang isnt what I was expecting. Im used to sour-ish Nilaga, but dont take my word for “that” because their other fares will surely comfort your hankering for Pinoy food. Service was quick and painless. There are indoor seating and outdoor ones covered enough that you wont freeze in the cold or swelter in the heat. There is a bathroom customers can use, too😄. Enjoy!Update: we tried the Sisig Tacos and Miki (spelled Mike on the menu😂) Bihon this time. Didnt disappoint. Busog!!!

2021-12-26Wanted to try this restaurant for a while now. The atmosphere is super chill and food is pretty good. Only complaint is lack of oxtail in the kare kare dish. The sisag baboy was delish.Staff is friendly. They get a lot of phone orders so service can be a bit slow but food comes out pretty quickly.

2021-07-26Lahi is a nice filipino restaurant with good food. When coming here, the sisig tacos are a definite appetizer you should buy. The tacos are delicious, always crunchy, and drizzled with a delicious sauce. Lenchon kawali wasn’t to my liking for it was too tough and hard in my opinion. However the waiters and service is also decent. It is a small location but they have an extended outside dining which allows more seating now. Overall, a good restaurant.

2021-06-02Lahi is conveniently located in Queens Blvd and offers tasty Filipino food. The menu has one of the most diverse option compared to other Filipino restaurants in 69th street. The Pork Sinigang and Oxtail Kare Kare is so rich and tasty. The Pork sisig with garlic rice and egg reminds me of the Philippines. Two complaints: First is that the outside sitting does not have a heater and second is that the white rice was soggy on the day I went there. Overall I will be back and recommend this place.

2022-07-10The food was good, but the portions for to go food was a dissapointment.Very little like good only for a child.Yes every thing went up ,but so was the bills payment of it all,too pricey for a little container. You better drink a lot of water to fill your stomach unless you order a soup that will fill ur tummy. Very pricey for so little.Never again.
