Lakeview House in other cities:
6/4/22 Dined outside on the deck with my wife and friends. Our waitress whos name escapes me gave us superb service with a great sense of humor and it felt like we were her only table and she was busy. My chicken along with my friends filet mignon, stuffed sole, duck, were cooked to perfection. Appetizers and dessert were also delicious. I highly recommend the Lakeview House.
Tried to call the restaurant repeatedly to make a reservation..NO ANSWER. So we drive over to the restaurant and it takes 5 minutes for me to be acknowledged. So finally I ask for a table for two the bartender says let me ask a waitress. Finally the waitress comes and says oh we are busy its Friday you have to make a reservation. I said well it would help if you ANSWERED THE PHONE. ..DIDNT FEEL WELCOMED ..
We went to dinner for my 25th anniversary and I was extremely pleased with our food. Our waiter Trevor was amazing. Very attentive even though he was very busy. All of our food was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Loved the view of the lake. It is a tad dark and a bit dated in the restaurant but the food more than makes up for it. I would and will eat here again.
If your under 45 I do not recommend going. The view is beautiful but we weren’t pleased on how we were treated for being a young couple. Literally took our whole dinning experience 2hrs for a place that wasn’t busy and we started around 6ish. Food prices are very different then online menu. When asked for food to be wrapped that alone took about 20mins with not even our waiter. Steak was very blend as if had no seasoning. The only good part of our meal was the bread and butter that was served in the beginning.
I came here for a rehearsal dinner and it was an overall very good time. The staff was attentive and service was good. The facilities could of been a bit nicer since they were outdated in a not so good way. The food selected was delicious, especially their desert which was a Oreo based pie. I cannot attest to the view since it was night time but I would definitely recommend this place.
First time, and we will return! Service was great, the food and portions were fantastic. Our waiter, Mike was very friendly and accommodating. We sat out on the patio, with a love view looking over the lake. Once it started to cool of, the staff started up the heaters and kept us comfortable. Looking forward to going back and enjoying a summer dinner outside once again.
Last 2xs I ordered steak at Lakeview it was under cooked. I order it medium and it was definitely rare (at best) throughout 80% of the meat. I didnt complain or send it back. It happened when I ordered the NY Strip and this time with filet mignon. Service is so-so and (to me) Lakeview has a limited menu when compared to a place like lets say Wards Bridge Inn in Montgomery.
Love this little gem in Newburgh NY.. Great atmosphere, professional staff with outstanding Hudson River views. Cozy ambiance and terrific food! Lunch and dinner selections off the menu are excellent. Staff is friendly and attentive. One of my favorite go to restaurants in the Hudson Valley.
Amazing experience start to finish with one small exception. We arrived to find the parking lot full. I jumped out of my car and asked the hostess (who I later learned was the owner) where I can park. She pointed out a couple spots that we didnt even know were spots; one that we thought was a throughway in the parking lot and another where she said we could park behind a car that was an employees. This was excellent service. We had a couple beers at the bar while we waited a short 10 minutes or so for our table (no reservation). The service was perfect (thanks, Michael!), the food was baller: We had the French onion soup and escargot for apps. For entrees, I had the veal special, which was basically like a T-bone steak the size of my head; two inches tall and about 7 inches long. It was tender, juicy, and delicious. My girlfriend had the duck. Both were exquisite. Even the salad was delicious and fresh; not a single bad piece of lettuce, arugula, or tomato Even the dressing was well-measured and tasty; not overwhelmingly strong-flavored; just right. We had a nice bottle of Malbec with out meal and then some desserts and dessert coffees afterward (we were there to celebrate an occasion, so we went all out). I had the bread pudding and she had the mud pie; both were substantial and delicious.Everyone was kind, friendly, and affable. The waitstaff and bussers were attentive but not intrusive. Hell, even the bathrooms were nice. The view was very nice; as we ate, a big thunderstorm rolled by, and we could watch the weather from all the windows that make up the walls of the place. After dinner, my girlfriend and I walked down to the docks and found about 3 dozen beautiful Orb Weavers rebuilding their homes after the storm.Oh! The one exception to the perfect evening? My girl said the water came out of the faucet in the womens bathroom at a slightly unexpected, minor, deviant-from-perfect angle. We explained to the management that this was unacceptable and we expect them to go in with a protractor and compass and make sure the water comes out at an absolutely perfect angle next time, or were taking our business elsewhere.Just kidding.Seriously, folks, this is one great little place. Its pricey, but everything was of the highest quality; the service, the food, the drinks - I think if I were to try to find one less than stellar aspect of our visit, the bread was a little underwhelming. It was warm and delicious and served with pads of real butter, but I would have preferred sourdough (I dont know exactly what kind
My wife and I recently had our wedding reception at the Lakeview House and it was everything we wanted it to be and more. Tori helped set us up with everything we needed and was extremely accommodating. The wait staff were above reproach and were on top of our every need. The food was absolutely delicious and came at an unbeatable price. We couldnt have asked for a better experience for our wedding day and cant thank them enough for their amazing work!
We absolutely love the Lakeview House. We went for lunch today. The BLT wrap pannini with fried green tomatoes bacon and provolone cheese was amazing. The Lakeview clams are always spot on. The Mayan salad with blackened shrimp rocked. Jimmy and Tori really bring this place to the top of restaurants to visit in the Hudson Valley. Two outside patios and a covered area with heaters and glass to protect you from the elements. We will be back very soon!
Not satisfied with quality or service. People were served appetizers before us even though we sat first. Waitress Lori told us they ordered appetizers with drinks together oh I understood- but our bacon wrapped shrimp was dry and roumalade sauce was crusty on to. Probably sat out from banquet they had earlier. Our Waitress couldnt even speak with losing her breath. I understand being overwhelmed but when we got home with our desserts (we took to go) they were stale, like they were out all day as well. I called Tori the mngr on duty and she apologized without offering to amend bill. I told her she should and thats how I left it...lets see what happens. Weve being going there for over 32 yrs on and off and this is the first time this ever happened. Just had to share-Not a happy experience, especially being a special occasion
Ok I hadnt been here in years. Me and the gf took the bike out and rode around (it was a great night for a ride) and we said, Lets try it. So...all in all it was pretty good! The place has an old cottage on the lake feel; which we like. We sat outside and Connor took care of us. He was great. There was a beautiful sunset and the outside veranda? dining was very pleasant. The food was good not amazing but also reasonably priced. Bonus! Our friend Pat (owner of Moroneys Harley Davidson) stopped by and actually checked out a problem I thought I was having with my bike. Maybe combine a restaurant and a bike shop? Oh have they done that already? lol
They need to update their online menu the Filet mignon is actually $42.95 and fried calamari is $11.95. I enjoyed the chicken very flavorful. The broccoli was practically uncooked. The filet mignon was ok. The stuffed sole; very thin piece of sole and very little pieces of lobster. To much spinach stuffing hard the distinguish the flavor of the fish. The service was good.
Food always great. Specials are exciting and varied. Freshest ingredients, teriffic flavors. Reasonable pricing.Cant go wrong here.I would prefer that the management insist that bar patrons wear masks when packed in closely. Not much covid considerations in the bar, but great food.
Very good food. Attentive staff. Cozy location. Last time they messed up my reservation and gave away the table I requested. Second time that happened. Otherwise I would have rated them a 5.On subsequent visits, reservations always handled well. Each meal I have enjoyed here has been excellent. Fresh, ample portions, and delicious. Always a pleasant experience. The outdoor patio is comfortable and inviting. Pandemic appropriate. Overall grade A-.
Went to dinner for the first time on Saturday. Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Something you’d expect from a upscale Manhattan restaurant not a place in Newburgh. Will definitely be back again. Only wish we had gotten there a little earlier to enjoy the lake view.
The restaurant has a lovely view of Orange Lake. The food was okay. We had a better meal the last time we were here, so maybe we chose the wrong dishes this time. The frozen strawberry lemonade was delicious!! The cheesecake was very good. Our waitress was fantastic! She was very friendly and attentive to our needs.
A pleasant evening with my better half. We arrived to a packed house. The food was great and our waitress was the tops. From the moment we arrived the staff was attentive always there to replenish water and see to our needs. The sheer number of specials is mind boggling. How you can change that many dishes each day I very impressive. Our waitress recalled all 9 including appetizers on the spot.
Consistency is a hallmark of a great restaurant. Lakeview House is consistent. Well prepared food, good service can always be found here.My meal was the Long Island duck with sauce of the day, a fruit sauce. The duck was cooked perfectly-crispy outside, juicy inside. There is outdoor seating and adherence to Covid guidelines. Prices are reasonable. We sat outside and enjoyed a sunset on Orange Lake.Limited parking is the only drawback.
The food was great. The service was not so great. We had reservations and they were delayed 15 min, then when seated it took 20 more minutes for the hostess to realize that we hadnt been taken care of. My thoughts are that with covid the servers would be anxious to get more customers.
Came here yesterday as the patio and “lawn” area are now open for dining. Great ambiance with terrific views, the Gorgonzola crusted filet was out of this world, and the service was on point. I defiantly recommend calling for reservations however since dining inside is currently not allowed during Phase 2 and the place was very busy for our 5:15pm reservation. 5 stars !
Nice atmosphere. Many at our table liked their meal. Not a place for steak. Med-rare was well done,. Cooked on grill, no seasonings added. Thick cut, but incredibly bland. Butter, fresh rosemary, a pinch of sea salt, and cooked less than well-done would make these a hit. It seems few chefs at restaurants understand how to cook steak anymore, so wasnt surprised. Dont stay away, order something else. Hats off to bartender.
Came here for a late Valentine’s Day dinner tonight and did not leave disappointed. We ordered a bottle of Merlot and some appetizers to start. The crispy bacon was not as crispy as I expected but it was tender and delicious and melt in your mouth good. We split a beet salad special and it was flavorful and refreshing and extremely satisfying. As we were sitting waiting for our dinners our water glasses never made it more than halfway empty. There was always someone on the floor checking on us to make sure we were okay and topping off our wine glasses from the bottle sitting at our table. For dinner we ordered the 12oz ny strip and a shrimp Veracruz. The steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the shrimp were the same. The lemon butter scallion sauce that came with the shrimp was heavenly. For dessert we order a cheesecake and the bread pudding and they were both quite good. The service really stood out tonight for me. The staff was attentive but not overbearing. They were knowledgeable about the food and they knew the specials and could make great recommendations. We haven’t been to Lakeview House before but we will definitely be back!
Beautiful old lake side home turned into restaurant. Excellent bartender excellent Waite staff excellent meal. Ambiance great.Lake side tables a few so reserve in advance. I can not rave enough about the food, service and staff . Great people. They are not responsible for the type of costumers who drop in for a meal then organize an attack on another costumer, dirty looks comments accusations. I am 911 first responder, I have a small service dog. she accompanies me every were. Does not take a bite of food. sits quietly in my lap.Costomers who attack other costumers should just stay home, just like they did on 911.
A little overrated. Food was very bland. The steak sauce honestly tasted like water, steak juice, pepper, and corn starch. The appetizers tasted good for the most part, but almost all of our entrees were lacking flavor and complexity. Lobster stuffed fillet of sole (dont know how its spelt) had very very little lobster (tiny bits). Dessert was good (bread pudding cake). Service was a little awkward but overall pleasant. Some tables are in the open walkway - so many near incidents.Overall would not recommend for the price, and would not go again. But, best to see for yourself.
Between the service and the food, I dont think, I have had any better. The food was great and the service was the best, thanks to our waiter Frank. We had a table by the window over looking the lake. Great view. Great atmosphere. Made my wifes birthday very special, thank you Lake View House!!!
My wife and I went on a very busy Saturday evening. We were not even acknowledged when we arrived and waited about 10 minutes just for someone to say hello and ask for our names. The other reviews I read for this place were excellent in all areas while I found it all to be poor/ok. The food was ok the service was ok and the atmosphere was ok. We sat directly in front of the kitchen door that kept swinging open, and the kitchen was disgusting! I had to stop looking. I have a background in food service, food safety, and training and seeing the kitchen really bothered me. Watching the wait staff make the coffee get the waters and prepare the desserts was also not the most sanitary. Maybe Im being overly picky but to me food safety equals the health of your customers. So I dont think I will be returning.
Your experience starts when you pull into the parking lot! The view is spectacular! Once inside the joy continues with the food, service and of course more of the lovely view. Our first time and it wont be our last. Frank our waiter was wonderful as was the food. I rarely have dessert but this time I had to and it was heaven on a plate. A hidden jewel 25 minuted from my home. Well be back.
Always serves up absolutely delicious cuisine. You get what you pay for, so be prepared. $$ The wait staff are courteous and attentive, and the view of the lake is serene and beautiful. Whether you want to impress your date or just want some quality time with your spouse, this is the place to be.
I dont know about their dinners but lunch was OK. It was nice sitting outside, the day was pretty perfect. Drinks werent too expensive, lunch specials averaged from approximately$10 to $16. I ordered off lunch menu. $16.99 for a very small lobsyer roll. Suppose to get potato salad with it but they ran out so I received a tiny salad. When I finished my lobster roll I was still hungry. If I had gotten the p. salad with it, it might have filled me up. Anyway, thats my review. It was alright.
The atmosphere is great. The entrees were all unimpressive. For $40, the filet mignon was completely charred and burnt outside, a lobster tail tasted as though it was heated in a microwave. The trout was full of bones. It would be a fine meal if the entrees werent priced as if a chef was preparing them. The dessert was the best part, delicious.
Trying to do a nice thing for our mothers birthday we decided to visit the Lakeview House that she had heard such nice things about. Well aside a small and noisy space with very limited vegetarian/vegan option it was honestly the waitress that made the whole experience awful. She was rude from the started with a couple sprinkles of nice in-between. We ACCIDENTALLY shorted the tip by maybe $10 and she followed us out to the parking lot, knocked on our car window and gave us a snippy attitude even though we apologized and gave her the money. If you are given a bad tip wether purposefully or accidentally like in our case you should just bite your tongue and move on with your night. How embarrassing that you felt the need to chase us out into the parking lot to get more money out of us.
We travel a lot and I am in the hospitality industry. Food was excellent. Lobster Ravioli, pork tenderloin special, filet Szechuan ravioli were top notch. Homemade dessert orange cream cicle was awesome. Our server put it over the top. He was a true pro. This is not the case even at higher end restaurants. Save your money and dine here verses a few others on the Hudson. Nice view, great food at a reasonable price.
Food was okay not the best. I ordered my steak and it was not made to order; it was over cooked. The appetizer was delicious as well as the salad. Side dishes were a bit cold but still okay. Service was a bit slow. We were there at 7:30 and didnt leave till 10:15, on a Thursday.
As we were headed to New Paltz for the weekend, we stopped at The Lakeview House for dinner. Our server, Rose, was delightful and the food was absolutely amazing! My husband had the venison special and I had the Shrimp Antiboise, which included jumbo shrimp over linguine with basil, tomatoes, white wine and Parmesan cheese. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the sauce was addictively delicious! Although the portions were generous, we finished every last bite and couldn’t resist a slice of creamsicle pie, which we highly recommend. If you ever have the chance to eat at the Lakeview House, do not hesitate!
Decided to go there to have dessert and drinks at 7:15, it was a birthday celebration. Sat at a table, as there was no one at the the reservation station. We were served water, and then a person came to let us know that there were reservations for the table and that we could go to the bar and have our drinks there. Well, it was crowded and we felt uncomfortable and decided to leave. We were very disappointed and will let our friends know that they are not accommodating. We had called after and the person was kind of rude. Too bad that they cant be more kind to people that are neighbors and can give good ratings to there establishment!!!
Everything from the authentic appetizers to gourmet entrés left my date and myself pleasantly satisfied after eating at such a quaint, unsuspecting establishment with a beautiful view of the lake. Well worth the drive from Long Island to enjoy such a delightful meal.
We we were looking for someplace new so we stopped off the lake view house very neat clean courteous help quick service reasonably priced we had just drinks and appetizers the escargot was fantastic the Oysters Rockefeller seem to be overburdened with spinach could not taste oyster had all I could do to find oyster Maybe a little less spinach overall okay

2022-05-15My husband and I went here for our anniversary last night and were pleased from start to finish. The service was on point. We were seated immediately despite being 10 minutes early for our reservation. The food service was timely but not rushed. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer and loved it. The highlight of the night was the baked cod that I ordered from the specials. It literally melted in my mouth. This was the first time in years that I went to a restaurant and enjoyed a meal from start to finish. Would definitely go back.

2021-07-17Want a delicious dinner with an amazing waterfront view, but not in the mood to endure the energy of the Hudson River front? This serene Lakeside restaurant offers a huge menu with so many options for food and drink. The duck breast from Long Island is absolutely outstanding. It’s cooked perfectly and the sauces are delicious time after time. Try the short ribs for a decadent treat. Oysters Rockefeller are a temporary special, so get there ASAP while they are on the menu. Some of the most delicious we have ever had. Their escargot is also one of the most wonderful we’ve had in years. The Key lime pie is great with delicious crust.

2022-06-30Lakeview House has always been a favorite. However, when went a few years ago, before the pandemic, I was not happy with my experience. The food just wasn’t up to par. We tried it again, last night and it was a much better experience. The beet salad and oyster appetizers were delicious. The fish special, sword fish was tender and delicious as well. Service was great and the ambiance with that lake view was perfect for summer evening. For four, including 6 drinks and 2 appetizers, the cost was $260, which is not unusual these days. If I could make a recommendation or two, I’d suggest adding some green salads to the menu and up the quality of the cocktails.

2021-07-31Wonderful experience last night. Food and ambiance were great. The pork chop special with fig sauce was exemplary. Sunset perfect. Service was very good, friendly and informative. Beer on tap good choices. Busy but good spacing on tables so did not feel packed in. Nice outside fire pit. Parking is tight but can park across street on sidesteps.

2021-06-08The view is PERFECT! Something about eating by the lakeside is so calming and relaxing. Maybe the caramel appletini relaxed me a lil too ☺️ it was so good I guzzled it! Cranberry mule was yummy too..The calamari was different then anything I’ve ever had.. it was so lightly breaded to perfection and the fra Diablo sauce paired perfectly. We also tried the buratta with toasted bread and tomatoes.. yummy! My favorite is the French onion soup! Salads were Good.. their balsamic is very tasty.. for dinner I had braised short rib (so tender) with fries (so crispy) and my friend had the spinach and cheese stuffed sole with rice pilaf..she enjoyed hers

2022-05-21Four of us had dinner last evening Friday, May 20. The service was excellent. Unfortunately the meals weren’t as good. Two in my party ordered the special veal dinner of the evening which was $42 plus each and each of them ended up getting sick. I feel management should be aware of this as it was an expensive meal that was not enjoyable and resulted into people getting very sick later in the evening. I don’t think will we will be returning to this restaurant.

2021-04-25I was very pleased with my dining experience at Lakeview House. I had my birthday dinner here with my family and we were greeted with exceptionally professional, friendly, and caring service. Our waitress (did not get her name) was very accommodating. We arrived at around 6:20pm, close to sundown. It’s absolutely beautiful sitting outside by the lake at sundown.I ordered the baby back ribs I ordered the baby back ribs as an appetizer and the shrimp antibiose. I wasn’t too crazy about the ribs (a little too porky for me) but the shrimp antibiose was delicious!!! The shrimp were HUGE! The sauce was buttery and creamy and the linguine was cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend have a special dinner here!
