My favorite chicken parm ever!We always had the Sicilian pie from here for many years. But yesterday we went to dine in, we had reservations for 8 people. The place was full. We ordered many meals but the carbonara was oily and the onion wasn’t cut properly and had only a couple of pieces of prosciutto. My friend ordered the portobello meal and they gave him the artichoke... we ordered potato croquettes and we got mashed potatoes. We understand the place was busy but there were a bit too much mistakes. Baked clam was good ziti too but the chicken parm heavenly! Sicilian slice is still the same and good as it was a long time ago. Our waiter really made the end of the dinner, he asked to give us ice cream. We said no, but someone arrived with a huge plate of ice cream and I don’t know how many pounds Ice cream were on it. We still have leftovers for today! He apologized for the miscommunication . That was a really nice gift .Thank you!For the chicken parm we will definitely going back!
Pizza was delicious, simple and yummy, very fast service, very busy business, lots of people eating today sunday! It was very fast, you just order and they have the pizza prepared already. I am surprise, simple cheese pizza was so delicious, fresh out if oven! Highly recomend! Family owned business for 81 years!! Famous pizza!!
First time at this BK landmark. Sicilian slice/pie is a must. Recommend treating it like an appetizer and then experiencing the rest of the menu. Artichokes are also heaven. Creamsicle soft serve was a delight. Spumoni as well. Last advice: don’t be afraid of the seafood. Weekends can be busy.
80 Years and still the best!Big thanks to the staff at L&B Spumoni Gardens for Another great dinner! From start to finish everything was “Over the top”. From their amazing Dueling Shrimp Platter, Baked Clams, Fried Calamari, Roasted Artichokes to Pasta with Broccolirabe & Sausage and their Eggplant and Zucchini. Everything was truly outstanding. Come see why L&B Spumoni Gardens is a true Brooklyn Icon for 80 years you will not be disappointed!
Deep in Brooklyn, here youll find L&Bs famous Sicilian square slices. If you like a thick, tomato-heavy pie then this place is for you. Personally, I dont think its worth the long commute from home. Order by the square or get a whole pie. This place is wildly popular despite the trek to get there. Theres plenty of outdoor seating.
I heard about this place on VICE YouTube Channel....Came out eventually when there was less traffic as I was coming all the way from The Bronx - about a 50 minute drive - worth it...Delicious and nothing like it....Been there twice since...Those Squares are really delicious.....☝️😊😋
Was told by local friends that this place makes arguably the best Sicilian pizza. Just not my cup of tea though. Sicilian pizza is bready with not much sauce nor cheese. But if this is your type of thing, ask them for the corner pieces if you want the extra crunch. Also had the round slice which was just a slice of cheese pizza but it was so damnnnnnnn good. For icecream, you MUST get the spumoni flavor, not the small cup either, go for LARGE or in a cone or any kind of vessel. The presentation (colorwise) is beautiful and the flavor is wildasd;lfjasdfkj;lkj
Stopped in for dinner with my family after being recommended by a friend to try and I am glad we did, we had some pizza and meals, Chicken Parm was excellent and the baked ziti and penne Alla vodka were perfect. The desert which I included a picture of is highly recommend and the staff were very nice and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.Thank you guys for a perfect meal and experience withy family.
The pinnacle of Brooklyn pizza! Two choices Neopolitan or Sicilian end of story! Both are delicious, Sicilian is World famous for a reason. The spumoni and ice cream offer a great way to cap off a meal. Another important check mark in the pro column, they have a parking lot. I try to stop by whenever I am in the area.
I’m not a religious person, and I don’t believe in Heaven or Hell. But eating a Sicilian slice at Spumoni Gardens, has made me a believer. G*d him/herself must have come down from the heavens just to create Sicilian pizza at Spumoni Gardens. The taste! The sauce! The textures. The chewy, crunchy flavors all at once. I actually shed real tears while eating this slice. Tears of joy, then tears after I finished eating it. Yes, we also got the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken, and prosciutto, and we also got a shrimp parmigiana grinder, but oh, that Sicilian! The food is outta this world, I cant say it enough. But then, the customer service you receive? The people that work here are fantastic! They really take care of you. Theres real love here. Most importantly though, theres pizza love. Pizza will never break your heart, except when youve eaten it all. I think I need more pizza from Spumoni Gardens...
They said Upside-Down Sicilian, and I said, SIGN ME UP! Some of the most delicious food I have ever eaten - from the salad, to the pizza, to the Spumoni. This place has some delightful Italian cuisine, but what got my attention is the Upside-Down Sicilian, and the Spumoni won my heart. The pizza is phenomenal, with its super light and fluffy crust that very much resembles focaccia bread. The pizza was so good I had to buy a pie and take it to where my family was meeting in upper Pennsylvania! The Spumoni is a dairy/nut molded gelato concoction, and the true Neapolitan Ice Cream that the original LB (Ludovico Barbati) would originally sell on the streets via his horse and wagon! Super cool place with a super cool history and awesome food to boot!
I had their pizza before but never as fresh as sitting in the restaurant to eat. The pizza was fresh and hot. Honestly one of the best pizza squares ever. They are also known for their spumoni. It was good and would recommend it to anyone.I would recommend L&B to anyone visiting Brooklyn. It is well worth the trip.
One of my favorite places on earth. This simple family business is among the best eats in NYC. Bring everyone because it is great for dates, screaming babies, business meetings, tourists and dinner with people you dont want to talk with too much....because youll be stuffing your face!Order everything -- there are no losers on this menu!Nice for casual eats at the outdoor tables or a more serious meal in the dining room.Reasonably priced for the enormous portions -- no, really, the dishes are easily share worthy.Go here now now now.
My friend and I visited this establishment on 7/3/21. It was my first time here and I was in for a real treat. We welcomed by our server John who was amazing! We started off with our drinks, bread , and our starters, I had a glass of Chianti which was a great glass, we both had the fried calamari, prepared to perfection, we had the casear salad which tasted a little bitter to out palates, then each of us got a slice of the famous sicilian pie, which was absolutely out of this world delicious. Then our entrees came, my buddy had the rigatoni bolognese and I had the spaghetti carbonara, which was prepared differently, we both enjoyed our dishes. I was told to end my evening with a cup of their spumoni, which was creamy deliciousness, I have a little critique about the spumoni, I have had spumoni which consists of chocolate, vanilla, cherry, and pistachio ice creams together. Other than that everything was spectacular! Definitely check out L & B Spumoni Gardens, Its Highly Recommended! Tell em Charlie sent ya!Update: came here on 9/3/21 with my friend as we both enjoyed another fabulous meal at L & B Spumoni Gardens, our server Matt was absolutely wonderful! We started with our appetizer of Fried Calamari and two slices of their famous tomato pie, and our entrees of veal marsala for me and veal Parmesan for my friend! The best ever! Then I got a slice of their Italian cheesecake, delicious! The cappuccino was very good, by Lavazza! My favorite Italian restaurant whenever Im in town! Love all the staff!
I used to eat at this place a decade ago when I lived in the area. So it was interesting to come back and see how it fares, now that I’ve traveled the world and tried good seafood and pasta dishes :)The verdict is that it’s still consistently good but not as amazing as I used to think.Eggplant parm and roasted artichoke were the best dishes, followed by the thick square pizza with an almost overly sweet dough but the one that somehow works well with the tangy sauce and a very pronounced crust.Baked clams are smaller than they used to be and there’s more filling than the clam itself; still delicious. All the pasta dishes lacked salt and the pasta itself was almost too al dente (but I’m not gonna tell a 70-yo Italian spot how to long to cook their pasta for). Grilled shrimps in my pasta were overcooked but the sautéed scallops were ridiculously good — tender, juicy, and having soaked up all that wine sauce.Overall, still pretty damn good.
The pizza sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, but the crust was nice and crunchy. Not worth going all the way out there but I was on my way back from Coney Island so it was en route. I prefer the regular thin style pizza. Lots of outdoor seating and the lines went very quickly though.
This restaurant business is booming! Outside, inside people enjoyed the food. I got large thin pizza, sausage -peppers-onions and grilled chicken plus choices of side dishes. Portions are big so 2 dishes were enough for 3 of us. We enjoyed it as always. What a treat! Reasonably priced. Small parking lot but you gotta be lucky to get it.
First time coming to this historic place. I am not a big Sicilian slice guy but this is what they are famous for. Tried it and It was amazing! Best I ever had. Tried the Spumoni ice which was very good/different. Tons of outdoor seating and windows to get either pizza or ice cream directly from outside. Seating inside as well. They have a Small parking lot to park in.Highly reccomend!
Hands down my favorite slices of Sicilian anywhere.! If i happen to be in Brooklyn its worth the side trip for a square or 3. The crust is thick but light and crusty and the sauce is perfectly seasoned. Not sweet and not too salty . Plus the mozzarella and parmigiano to top it off.
Great pizza and quick in and out spot. I’ve eaten here plenty but first time I ate outdoors in the patio area and it was fine. The ice cream is also really good. Nice simple place. Just like more cheese on my pizza than what they normally have. Still a solid pie though.
Top notch all around. The to-go windows are great for a quick pick up and you can sit outside when the weathers nice but the real star of this place is the sit down restaurant. Got treated like royalty when I brought my family in. 6 of us total but still everything came out quickly, tasted great and they accommodated any substitutions. Classic American Italian food done right. Everything from penne vodka to Alfredo to marinara to seafood was great and the spumoni CAN NOT be missed.
$29.00 for a half square pie. 3 rd increase in less than 2 years. Square pies are hit or miss. Sometimes way undercooked, sometimes overcooked. The sauce is not original recipe. Todays sauce has you burping hours later. To acidic. Why did you change recipe? I go sometimes for convenience but getting close to ending my patronage.
Love coming here for a good dinner, that’s not too expensive but still super good. Definitely a plus that they have their own parking lot, but hard to get a spot during peak times. Everything we got was super good. Service was good, despite it being a peak time when it was getting a little packed - Friday at 5:30 pm. And the servers are easy on the eyes too - as my friend kept pointing out to me (: oh and spumoni of course - win win all around!
Tried Sicilian square and their regular pie. Sicilian was quite flavourful. If youre a fan of a thicker crust then do go for their Sicilian square.Reg pie was average at best. Have had better cheese slices. Also tried the spumoni.. not exactly my cup of tea. Only choclate flavour was the one that you could eat in my opinion.
Has the sicilian pie, and I usually prefer a thin crust pie, but this one was light, and the cheese seemed to blend with the dough somehow. Id recommend the cheese sicilian, the pepperoni is not that great. The tomato sauce was slightly too sweet for me, but the dough is the star here.
This place was always my favorite place for Sicilian pizza. This past time it seemed like the dough wasn’t cooked all the way through. The waitress messed up our entire order but they had a Spanish guy who was awesome and made every right. This guy was a super nice and attentive waiter. I will be back with hopes to raise my rating to a 5star where they belong.
Since the last time I was here, things really changed. The taste, the goodness, and SERVICE! I was not satisfied with the service, took around 35-40 minutes to get my food, had 3 waitresses come and try to get my order which was a MESS! One waitress in the beginning didn’t even know what type of wine flavors they had. Honestly, could have been better, waited almost an hour for food.
I haven’t been to the garden in years. Today I had a opportunity to bring my good friend to spumonis, she’s from Maryland and got a taste of what pizza is all about. Outstanding. Not only was the service great , the presentation was absolutely beautiful. Food hands down great. There doing something right since 1939. Prego
Impressive experience. Start to finish !!❤ 12 stars on a 5 star scale.Danny, you are a class act!. Went for dinner tonight unexpectedly , we simply did the what we consider, the right thing. Offered to move our table a little to accommodate a large party coming in for a birthday. Danny went out of his way to thank us, send us dessert ETC ( look at this. Would you please! Amazing. ) ... and make us feel we had done something out of the ordinary. Which We were just happy to do!!! Staff of spumoni gardens, YOU are the special ones. Food was superb and above and beyond customer service, not to be measured.BE BACK SOON. THANK YOU❤
My #1 favorite Sicilian pizza. Some people favor the corner, some like the edge and others choose the middle. No matter which person you are, you will love the flavor filled sicilians here. Theres usually a line but they go fast. Lots of seating and parking available. Their spumoni ices are delicious. Service is always friendly. I love coming here after visiting Coney island.
Average slices, overrated Sicilian squares, okay spumoni. Customer service from the ice cream guys are good. Customer service from the pizza section not good. They pump out Sicilian squares every minute and if youre lucky the sauce is still wet and hot but too many times I get a Sicilian pie thats dry like its been sitting there for an hour. $26 for this. The creamsicle is great though.
The spumoni and Italian ice was well worth the 15 minute drive from Bay Ridge. The customer service was much better than I expected!! They guy who helped was friendly and have us a recommendation for a nice spot to get some cannoli’s….L&B is on my saved list will get a visit the next time I’m in Brooklyn !!!
I’d hope to have dinner with my family and order from L&B Spumoni Gardens tonight. My family has been ordering from here for over 45 years and after tonight, I don’t feel the need to come here any longer until something changes.I placed a call to the restaurant side and was prompted by a pushy, rushing, and rude person over the phone. I stated that I wanted to order a House Salad and without a second to inquire what was in it or if I needed something excluded in it because I am gluten free, the gentleman over the phone shut me down. I was blown away by the rudeness, so I kindly asked if they included red onion and croutons. The gentleman answered as it wasn’t a Caesar salad and there’d be no croutons and there was red onions included. His tone on the phone left me speechless. I backed away from the phone, wasn’t asked my name to pick up the food, nor if I needed anything else, as there was more to order. I wasn’t sure if my order had been taken seriously so I called back a few minutes later. Spoke to someone else (so they said) and respectfully ask to pass the message to the person minutes before to take their time when people order over the phone. He thanked me, and apologized for the inconvenience.I gave them the benefit of the doubt by driving over and walked over to the pizza window. Came here to order that round pie that wasn’t ordered over the phone with the first gentleman. I was behind the window and asked for a Well Done Round Pie. I lowered my head to find out that they had stale cold pre made round pies on a rack. He grabbed it off the rack and threw it in the oven. My father popped his head in to tell the man to disregard and we no longer wanted that pizza. My father expressed himself as this wasn’t the right thing to do as a pizza maker. When you want a pizza, you would think it would be hot and freshly made. Not that it’s been sitting around a few hours, then reheated it in the oven and served to the customers. I can imagine a few slices, but no. We’re talking about a full pie. Waiting was not a problem for us. I believe if you want to have a successful restaurant business, you would do anything and everything to provide cleanliness, great customer service, freshly made food, and quality service.
Its a bensonhurst classic, having grown up in Brooklyn myself I remember my mom would always want to go at least once or twice a month with the family for a big meal. We always had a great time.If you go there and get some pizza which I do recommend make sure you get the square, thats what theyre known for
Lenny runs a tight ship.this is the biggest sleeper in Brooklyn .By far by a Coney island mile is the best Italian food there the best muscles the freshest baked clams super delicious unbelievable attention to detail everything made from scratch fantastic lasagna and the best fresh calamari. unbelievable this place is amazing Ive been here about 50 times.
My family & I ate in the restaurant this time & all I can say we Delicious. The food was spot on, cooked to perfection...... And lets not forget about dessert... Spumoni Spumoni Spumoni......The Staff was great, even when they were crazy busy on Mothers day, they made it happen with a smile.
Been going here over 15 years now. Service and quality has really went drastically down. Host is extremely rude to women. To add insult to injury I saw a rat cross my path as I was walking toward their parking lot. It came from their kitchen!!! Never again, there are so many great pizza places in Brooklyn.
You can say many things about Spumoni Gardens... Its the best pizza, its okay, its not all that great, its expensive, its reasonably priced... Its all of the above. Everybody has their opinion but what you need to know is Spumoni Gardens is a place to experience if youve never been here. Whether you like their square slices or not, theres no denying its a unique slice. The spumoni is a must. The restaurant is reasonably priced and everything tastes good. The only item thats ordinary is the round pie. But the best part is just sitting outside when its warm and enjoy the atmosphere and people. Its one of the few places left with that, real Brooklyn feel.Update 6/4/22 - it could be my imagination because I havent been since for a long time because of covid, but Im 99% certain the slices have gotten much smaller. Also, while the taste is still there, the crust is much more burnt than I remember. I included pictures of the current Spumoni prices because you cant go here without having some.
Great spot to make a stop at if you’re ever in the area! Went around 5pm on Saturday and there were loads of people there but there’s plenty of seating and the lines go very quick. I got two slices of the Sicilian which were awesome! The slices were sauced thoroughly and still light and airy. Idk how they do it but they tasted great. I don’t think I’d be able to do a whole pie though since I think the sauce would be overwhelming but that’s just me. Great spot to visit for sure.
This place is really far from the city, but worth it. The crust is like garlic bread and the sauce is slightly sweet, which is a great complement. I would say that this crust is much thicker than most pizzas, but definitely worth a shot. There were a decent amount of people, but the line moves really fast. If you get the square slices, your food comes out almost instantly!
Brooklyn institution! The sicilian pizza slices are like fluffy pillows of heaven! Very easy to eat 6 slices in one setting! Spumoni, tartufo, tiramisu ice cream and ices are divine! Entrees and appetizers are also delicious! If youre in South Brooklyn, definitely make a stop there if you can!
Best Sicilian. ITS IN THE SAUCE. They have a family secret sauce recipe and its great. Its always worth the drive. Wether your on the Island or a tourist wanting a good example of NYs best, well, theres a reason that the parking lot is full day in and day out, street is double parked, & why theres 20 pre-made pies with a line outside
I love this Italian restaurant in Brooklyn. Been here so many times. Everything is so delicious. Good to have a birthday gathering here and order the Chefs Table. Its family style sharing food. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who want excellent Italian food. ❤️🇮🇹🍝
I am appalled at the way this establishment treats people with disabilities. A family friend bought his Austic toddler for dinner. He was being a little vocal as toddlers can be sometimes. A family nearby was making fun of the child and cursing saying to shut him the f….k up. It got out of hand the mother of the child tried to explain about her son. Other things happened throwing things glass flying but instead of the owner telling the nasty people to leave. They told my friends with the child to leave!!! Police were called but never showed up. This is not the kind of place we need in this world!!!!
I have not visited this restaurant and do not know if I ever will, but I did watch the Devoured documentary on VICE. The pizza looks great, I hope the show portrayed events and people accurately, and I’m very sorry for what happened to owner and founder Louis “Lulu” Barbati. May your store have many more years of serving New York City and do stay away from trouble ♡♡
I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. The service is top quality and focuses on making the customers happy. The food is amazing. You get your monies worth when you eat here and dont go home hungry; in fact, you end up going home with leftovers because the portions are huge. The Eggplant Rolletine is hands down the best I have ever had since my grandmothers cooking and the ravioli and meatballs pack a delicious punch with lots of flavor. And dont forget dessert. I have never had spumoni til this place and now I cant eat ice cream without thinking about how much I miss having spumoni instead. The best ending to dinner! If you are looking for a great atmosphere with Italian cuisine, this is the place to go!
Prices are a bit high for slices, but they are tasty. 3.50 each and toppings arent offered for single slices unfortunately. The Single sicilians that I did have, were a bit dry on the bottom, but the cheese & sauce were good. My kiddo loved her regular slices, and we shared an orange creamsicle soft serve. Good stuff for the neighborhood.
Great spot. Always busy.Great for casual dinners or for romantic dinners with your girlfriend.Prices are approx $$.-They have a pizza area, ice cream area and restaurant area. The pizza area is well known for their square slices.-The restaurant area is well know for their steak sandwiches.Definitely a place to visit when in the neighborhood.
This Italian restaurant is a local favorite. We schlepped out here from the upper east side (took an hour & 1/2), and was it ever worth it. So much flavor packed into every dish. Hands down - I can’t say it enough - the flavors are so well developed. My fear was bland tasting food - you will not find it here. We also took home a Sicilian pie (for later). Affordable, great tasting and friendly environment - can you ask for more? We will be returning!
Went with my son and his family for a 4th of july dinner.. a delicious chianti wine, clams as appetizers and I had carbonara sauce pasta, my granddaughter had penne with vodka sauce and all the others had seafood over pasta..Service was very nice, pur waitress was sweet and polite and at the end I requested grated cheese which he brought it to me without hesitation..Great place and amazing food..Not complaints about it..Nice family time..
We celebrated my besties 50th birthday here and what amazing food we had. Everything that was brought was absolutely delicious !! Place was jammed packed so tells you just how fabulous the food is here. The staff were absolutely amazing & so accommodating whenever you needed anything. If you live in or the neighborhood do yourself a huge favor & try the food. Oh and the desert was beyond anything you could imagine !!
I’ve always loved their pizza, but today decided I want to try Veal Parmagiana. If you can’t choose which pasta you want to go with it, you can also have poached vegetables on the side. I’m so very happy & all members of my family were quite delighted with this choice. Their veal cutlet was so very tasty & tender; not chewy & rubbery like other places can be. It was truly one of the very best Italian meals we’ve had in some time & we got a good amount of Italian bread to go with it. I ordered 3 meals & delivery was very quick. It’s sad many places have chosen to remain closed during these crazy times. Thanks so much to L&B staff for remaining open! 😉
I love this place normally but there’s no consistency! The food here can be incredible but I need to know who’s on the line and what day in order to be safe. Just recieved my Philly cheese steak open ended dripping out the bag and onto my fries that I requested extra crispy! Now the fries were extra soggy not from the Philly, even tho they are usually cruispy on their own.. now let’s get back to the philly… it was leaking spilling out and has an anormous amount of peppers and onions and no cheese! Let’s cut to the capers salad I ordered and how there’s zero balsamic?? I order from Uber eats since they tend to deliver fresher and if you order pickup, the guys will usually continue their social conversations and ignore you or they don’t know what’s going on and had me wait 25 minutes for an order in a bag in front of me the whole time I was there!!! Consistency is key!!!
Famous for its square pizza have also its regular pizza cut! Served while hot, the square pizza was amazing! Its $3 a piece. They also have an icecream parlor and a restaurant.People are lining for the dinning place. I just tried the pizza and their menu should also be good. Parking is an issue, though people just double park if they knew they would be very quick in and out. Next time i will try their resto and their yummy icecream!
Food was incredible. No fancy menus here, just simple menu selections done to perfection. This is the perfect execution of a true, family-style Italian-American restaurant with no frills. The focus is on the food and the visceral acceptance that this place is a community institution. You feel the love people have for this place when you walk in--you can see it on the faces of the patrons. Families gather in long tables and laugh. Its warm here and you can tell that most are loyal, repeat visitors. This place will warm your heart and make you want to call your parents. Get the pizza, the calamari, any of the pasta dishes, but save room for the perfect texture of the Spumonis (the hybrid of Italian Ices and Ice Cream). Just go. Make the trip.
This is one of the best places for real authentic NY pizza. The pizza is amazing and this place is always packed. Not much seating inside but they have a bunch of tables outside. Highly recommend to everyone. For those who dont live close by they have a small parking lot next door.
Excellent pizza, pasta, salad, and dessert! In terms of food, they serve both quality and quantity. The staff were very nice, attentive, and their service was great. Id definitely go back again, especially to the dining room. Thank you for making our visit feel special!
Amazing spot to grab a slice (or a whole pie) and eat it outside. You can order ahead if you want a whole pie, or just show up to purchase a few slices from the outdoor window. Have a seat outside and munch away in delight. The square Sicilian pizza here is included on just about every list of New York’s best pizza (and best food, period) for a reason. The sauce is tangy and sprinkled with pecorino and the cheese (beneath the sauce) is sweet and savory. Definitely worth the trip down for this Brooklyn institution.
The best Sicilian Pizza I (and many of my friend and family) have ever had. Sometime we buy multiple pies to go and enjoy in the future. The regular round pies are very good quality as well. If you want a authentic Brooklyn experience go here and being your out of towners. The accent are real too. My great grandmother always enjoyed the fish salad at the sot down restaurant, which has a nice menu and quality dishes too. Oh and dont forget to try some spumoni, they have very rich flavors.
I think that, up to this point, this has been the best pizza I’ve had in NYC. I’d for sure recommend the Sicilian (Square) pizza, because I believe that’s what they’re known for. Also, the Sicilian is pretty filling, so you can get more full off of less food. I really loved the few slices I had, the dough is almost sweet like a donut which, I thought, was pretty unique. Also, the spumoni they make is really good. It almost tastes like shaved ice, but it’s actually ice cream. The prices at L&B are really reasonable, so plan to leave full! I definitely need to get back here sometime soon!
The pizza here is some of the best! They have outdoor seating for pizza pick up and they also have a full restaurant inside as well. The pizza was really some of the best Ive had in all my years in NYC. We also shared a chicken entree which was great. And the Spumoni finale was just so fun to eat through!
That thick cut square pizza though!!! A mix of the most perfect soft cheese and marinara sauce dough (donut like) on the top, with a crunchy base. I dream about this pizza, seriously! This is our first stop every single time we land at EWR airport ( my boyfriend grew up in Brooklyn and this is his spot - now my spot too!)
L&B Spumoni Gardens is worth the wait any night of the week to sit in there dinning area. The wait time is usually 30 minutes . They dont rush you is the reason for the wait time.L&B is known for there square pie which we always order and what we dont finish there we take home the leftovers. We also always order the calamari thats always fresh. The prices are reasonable and the menu is extensive with Italian dishes.I would recommend a bunch of different appetizers than 2 dinners .The place is always packed so expect to make friends if sit at one if there long tables and the people next to you are friendly. For some reason we always get that table for two . Guess I have a unfriendly face. LolEnjoy this place as I been here when in school and its still jumping and the following grows !
Ive been many times before, just never got around to scoring the place. The service is always friendly and fast. Food is always fantastic. I went with the chicken marsala hero. And with that as always the bread was soft and fresh and the chicken cooked to perfection. There isnt one thing I recommend... I recommend it all! I will keep coming back!
My mom raved about going here all the time when she was little. So we headed down to Brooklyn for the day and figured we had to head there. Oh my god the Sicilian pizza is the best! Only time I would eat that kind of pizza is there. Amazing. Service was pretty quick for pizza too. Also the lemon ice is great as well. Perfect for Italians like me. Nice to see Soprano stuff as well.
L & B Spumoni Gardens has great food, a great welcoming atmosphere, and is a great place. Theyve been around for over 70 years with friendly staff that treats you very well; like family. Theyre food is so good that after trying it once, youre hooked. They have in house dining and catering.Theres also a lot of different dietary options for anyone who needs it. L & B Spumoni Gardens is local and updating their decor to a minimal modern style. If I could give them more stars I would.
Ate here for the first time indoors in nearly 2 years. Always was one if my favorite family style Italian restaurants. I always loves the pizza and it is still top notch. But I have to say, while the quality of the food is still as good as it ever was, the value for the money is declining. I got my favorite pasta dish. Linguini bologna and whereas it used to be served in a platter style elongated bowl, it was now served in a round smaller bowl. I used to eat a good bit and take nearly a whole to-go container home. Now the same container was half full. Mind you, this is in a scenario where menu prices have gone up tracking expected higher supply costs post COVID and during an inflationary cycle. I wouldnt mind spending more under these circumstances but spending more and getting less doesnt sit well with me. This may not apply to all dishes as my wifes ziti Sicilian seemed about the same proportions as we had previously experienced. I guess they had to pay for the dining room renovations some way. Could have done with a little less of that as well. It feels more upscale but at the expense of the warm family inviting environment it used to be even if it was a bit dated. Al in all it is hard to complain and that is why my rating is 4 stars but it used to be a 5.
Best place for pizza, iconic spot in New York. I come at least once a year during Christmas time, my favorite slice ever. For those of you who haven’t been it’s a thick slice with cheese sauce and then more cheese - it’s soft and crunchy and has such good flavor - that homemade sauce taste
I have been a devoted customer since 1974. I have nothing but the best things to say about L&B spumoni gardens for the last 40 years or so, yet for the last few years every time I’ve order a well done pie at the window the pie is done by the time I pay for it.. we take it home , it’s never what we order. Tonight was the icing on the cake , my son and I ordered a well done pie at the window , the worker took a prepared pie sitting on the rack for who knows how long it had been sitting there. He put it in the oven to reheat it. Shame on him for this. To the owner Lenny I’m known as John, You know me. Lenny I have nothing but the upmost respect for your establishment, but if some employees keep this up they’re going to screw up a great institution.
For those who have never patronized this establishment, it would be a good destination for testing proficiency in using Google Maps. It has a reputation that elevates it to landmark status, and proves that not all of the NYC landmarks are located in Manhattan. If it did only one thing well, like its square-slice pizza, it would be enough for recognition. But the spumoni gelato that L&B concocts is an equally strong attractant, and a fine reason for travel across the five boroughs to try a dessert worth traveling for. And the third component of the dining experience is a restaurant that serves its own version of Italian standards, which suit my tastes very well (my last name ends in a vowel), with portion sizes adequate for reheating as a second meal. Most people go there for the pizza and spumoni, but the restaurant should not be missed either. We had lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken parmigiana with a side of spaghetti (pictured).Whether ordering from indoors or outdoors, the service is quick, efficient, and pleasant, and the quality of the food has never disappointed.
L&B NEVER DISAPPOINTS... I have been coming to L&B since I was 17 years old in 1992 and Ive NEVER EVER LIVED IN BROOKLYN...LOL. WHY? Because L&B has the best squares in NYC. On top of that, Ive always received the best and most respectful service from every staff member there. The ambiance and energy is always buzzing with old school Brooklyn vibes and everybody is always made to feel welcome. Dont forget the rainbow spumoni (pistachio, vanilla, and chocolate) to end your meal right! I drive here during all hours on a weeknight evening on a whim, just for the Sicilian slice (square). Throw my wife and kids in the car and we are off to L&B... Thats how delicious it is. Enjoy!
- - Hands down the most unhealthy way to put food in your body: mostly salt, fat, cholesterol.- Not cheap: $24 for Sicilian pie- bad, small, far away bathrooms- very bad parking: see picture of double parked cars+ large outdoor sitting areaThis is a high volume pizza-by-the-pie place with a long history and lots of reputation but bad parking, bad bathrooms, and a large outdoor seating area
Half tray of Sicilian pie is a must. Brooklyn classic, this pizza will rock your socks off. Some slices you may half to eat with a fork and knife but its worth it. Whether youre visiting or live in town, you gotta stop by L&B, bring friends and family though, because its a lot of food.
With out a doubt there pizza and Sicilian pies are one of the best!! Also the food is good but a little over priced !! There dessert portions are very large and very good! It wont break your bank well worth it.. I definitely suggest you come to Spumoni you will enjoy everything they offer!! besides there is good reason they been around for 80 years !!
I came back here again but this time I sat down in the restaurant. They accommodated us despite it being close to closing. I had their penne vodka pasta this time and it was delicioussss. We also got two Sicilian slices. Crust crispy, middle layer soft, sauce is decadent. Just great.
A little Pizza Heaven PERFECTO!!! GREAT FOOD, quick service, pretty attentive for a busy day. I have been wanting to come here for years. I came with my two boys and we started out with calamari and baked clams which was absolutely delicious. We ordered the Sicilian pizza which was unique because the sauce was on the top and the cheese was on the bottom, it was really a great experience And an absolutely delicious meal.
Iconic and historical L & B. Their signature is their Sicilian pie, whereby the layer the cheese before the sauce and the sauce is on top of the pie. Makes for a very fluffy square. To me, their pasta is the weak point, we get the Penne with Vodka sauce, there isnt quite enough sauce and pasta a bit dry.All around good experience, but stick with their signature Sicilian Pie.
The food is outstanding. Get the sicilian if you like pizza and if youve never been. There tons of great Italian classics on the menu. The staff is very friendly and familiar with the menu so ask any questions. The dining area is very clean as well. Be sure to let someone know you want a table otherwise youll be standing there in the waiting area for a while. I give it 4 stars instead of five because its a tight fit not only you, but waiters and bus boys as well so they have a hard time getting around. I guess it gives a nice Italian family eating dinner together feeling. I would suggest getting your drink, appetizer, and food orders all at once because it will be a while before you see your waiter again.
When you think New York pizza the square Sicilian style doesnt come to mind. But I can assure you L&Bs pies are just as delicious as all the other traditional NY pies. They thing that I didnt expect was how amazing the Spumoni was. That alone is worth the trip. Come for the pizza stay for the spumoni.
Although famous year round for their unique recipe square pizza pies and the spumoni ice cream, come on over to the restaurant dining room. This relaxed atmosphere, family friendly restaurant serves up all your favorite traditional Italian dishes. Including a favorite of locals, The Chefs Table. This is a pure dining experience for the family and friends. The unique pear salad, cold and hot appetizers, fish, and meat entrees. You decide on your own feast. The knowlegable waiters will help you decide based on personal tastes. Warning, its alot of food, so wrap some up to go to leave room for dessert. Buon appetito, mangia!
I honestly love l n b. Previously gave 5 stars. Had to change it. Pizza was cold, burnt on the bottom, and sides. 2 pies! Can lady kept reaching on my table for cans, sorry but i dont want know one touching my drinks. Had to buy new sodas. No one chases them away.Fried calamri was good, baked clams as well.Potato croq. EhhIce cream/ ices were fins.
Heard amazing things about this place and their pizza. My brother has been there a few times and always raved about it. Today he decided to treat us. This is my 1st time having anything from this place. I do not know if it is because its the weekend or maybe they were really busy, but this extremely disappointing and dissatisfying. For a place that has such great reviews you should never send out a burnt pie that taste like cardboard. Let alone when it costs $24. Ive done a better job at reheating frozen Digiorno 🤦♀️😔.
I am not impressed & I had way better, fresher pizza . It was ok but I dont see what the hype is about . The pizza dough was underbaked so the overall tasted of the pizza slices as altered . The sauce was ok . The mozzarella stick was fresh at all & probably are frozen sticks . Am glad I ordered / experienced it via Uber eats because I would have been very upset traveling cross town for this under satisfying meal. Pizza Packaging is amazing though .

2022-04-11April 2022Easily a NYC classic icon slice. Its the sicilian square slice thats famous. The softest tastiest slice in town. The cheese is under the sauce and it works really well there. Its always busy so your chances of getting a fresh slice are 98.2%! (After I crunched some numbers of course 😉)$3.50. That seems like the average price these days, sigh. But if you are getting a great slice, its worth it.If you want a topping you can only do it if you buy the whole pie for another $4 for a total of $30. Thats a lot pizza.Lots of picnic tables, some covered, but its usually busy all the time. They have Italian ice, ice cream and super soft ice cream. Dont forget to check out the list of toppings!

2022-03-28Wonderful square-shaped size of Brooklyn! My friend took me here on account of it being one of the best slices in Brooklyn, and she did not tell a lie! It is a classic brick oven style thick crust pizza with plenty of cheese and sauce to make it flavorful. The spumoni and Italian ice is delicious as well, and the homemade lemonade was truly a steal being $1.75 a glass!

2022-03-28They have great Sicilian pizza, the sauce is on the sweet side. IMO their regular pizza is average at best though. The Rainbow Spumoni as well as their ice cream is off the charts! Staff is nice inside and out. Great aesthetic and food here.

2022-06-11Came here for my long distance boyfriend’s graduation . I live in Maryland and I have to say this is the best italian resturant on the east coast. Absolutely amazing food and the owner is a hoot! The owner is so personable, always checked on us, and made sure our experience was amazing!!! We had pretty much everything on the menu. I am in love with this restaurant! I will be back!!!

2022-02-28This place is truly a gem, I was promptly seated and attended to. The beers are cold and the athmosphere is wonderful. Families enjoying dinner together, kids eating mountains of ice cream overall just a wonderful environment and a great place to spend the evening eating endless pizza and desserts. The sauce on top of the cheese is brilliant, the sauce truly shines in this way. Highly recommend and definitely one of the top five pizza places in New York City in my humble opinion!

2021-12-27Very solid piece to go if you are a Sicilian pizza fan. The pizza is very well made. The crust and sauce are great, especially if you like sweeter sauces on pizza. The calamari was also very good. Personally not a huge Sicilian fan and kind of out of the way so Im giving it 4 stars.

2022-04-15Nice place. Like the walk up window. Wasn’t a long line, and I place my order quickly. The restaurant is nice, though smaller than I thought. Had a lively crowd insude that night. And the pizza, sweet and delicious, although it was smaller than a usual Sicilian in my opinion. Very good pizza.

2022-06-07The Sicilian pizza is amazing, the baked-in goat cheese is sooo good. We also tried the mussels with red sauce and the house salad, both were fresh and delicious. Finished the meal with a spumoni ice cream sundae, perfection!

2021-12-30Everything was so good! A neighborhood staple. Generous portions. Waitstaff was so nice and didnt rush us out, like other restaurants. The marianara is as good as it gets!
